Welcome to Lead With Soul — The podcast for spiritual entrepreneurs who are ready to build an impactful and profitable brand, create a thriving and sustainable business that aligns with your values and experience more freedom, fulfillment, and abundance in your life and business — while making a positive difference in the world. If you're ready to elevate your business and brand to a new level, manifest your vision into reality and embody the leader, you know, you're meant to be, this is the podcast for you. I'm your host, Intuitive Brand Strategist and Designer Kimberly King.

Hey, thank you so much for joining me on Lead with Soul. I’m so excited to share with you the first official episode of the podcast. For the first episode, I thought it would be fun to talk about what branding actually means. I absolutely love talking about this because I know there are so many entrepreneurs out there who are confused and overwhelmed about how to build a brand, what branding actually means. I really want to help you get clarity on that so that you can build a brand that is impactful and profitable, and that truly reflects who you are and your mission. The first thing I want to say about what branding actually means, what it is and what it isn't, is that it's not just your logos, your brand colors or your fonts. It's not just your graphics or a beautifully curated Instagram feed.

Are those important parts of your brand? Absolutely. They are your brand visuals, but they are just one part of your brand. Your brand is so much bigger than that. So the way I like to describe your brand is — your brand is an external reflection of who you are, of your true essence. It is the messenger of your mission. It's the way that you communicate your energy to your community, to your audience, to your ideal clients. It's the experience and the feelings that you want your ideal client to have when they come in contact with you, whether that's on your website, through your Instagram stories and anywhere else that you share your content and your message.

Something that I help my clients with when we are developing their brand is getting clarity on the foundational elements of your brand. Something that I notice a lot of people do when they are DIY-ing their brand, or just starting to build their brand (maybe this is you — this was definitely me in the beginning of my business) is skipping straight to their brand visuals. This should be the last step that you do when you are building the foundational elements of your brand. And this is something that I feel very strongly about because I often have clients come to me after they have DIY-ed their brand visuals or worked with another designer, and they ended up wasting time, money, and energy because they ended up with brand visuals that they didn't truly love, that didn't truly reflect who they are and that weren't in alignment with their mission, their message or their ideal client. This is why I always start with getting really clear on your brand identity before doing anything with your brand visuals. Because when you skip these steps and go straight to your brand visuals and end up with something that you don't love, that isn't a reflection of who you are, that doesn't feel authentic to you, and that doesn't align with your message or your ideal clients, it can hold you back from fully showing up in your business. I've witnessed the transformation that happens with my clients when they really take the time to build that solid foundation for their brand. I really want to help you feel confident in sharing your message and showing up fully in your business so that you can create the impact that you came here to make and build a business and life that you are truly aligned with and absolutely love.

I'm going to share with you what I believe are the six foundational elements of an impactful and profitable brand. I'll dive deeper into these elements in future episodes, but for today, I really wanted to give you a starting place so that you can begin to get more clarity and integrate this into your own brand.

So the first foundational element I want to talk about is your brand mission. I personally believe that this is the most important part of your entire brand identity. So if you think about building a house, one of the most important parts of the entire project is your foundation. And I really see your brand mission as the foundation of your brand. You might already have an idea of what your mission is. And if you do, if you feel like you already have clarity on your mission, I really want you to take this as an opportunity to go deeper and connect to what your mission is. What is the impact that you desire to create in the world? Why do you want to do the work that you do? What is the bigger purpose and mission behind your business. Also, your bigger purpose and mission doesn't necessarily have to be the work that you do within your business. Your business might be the vehicle for how you create the resources that you need to create the impact you want to have.

The next foundational element of your brand identity is your brand values. Think about your own values and what's important to you. What do you believe in? What do you stand for? When you have clarity on that, I recommend picking three to five core brand values that you're going to integrate and infuse into every aspect of your business. You can definitely choose more than five values or you can choose less than three — you can choose however many you want. I usually recommend picking three to five so that you can be really intentional and purposeful with your brand values. Even if you only pick five brand values, that doesn't mean that you can't integrate other values that you have into your business. But the more specific that you can get with your brand values, the more you can really get your energy behind it and more easily infuse it into every aspect of your business.

The next foundational element is your brand personality. This is really about infusing more of who you are, your unique self, your personality into your brand. And this is where that authenticity piece comes into play. I know that we hear it so often how important it is to be authentic. And I couldn't agree more. Because we already know that there are millions of other coaches out there. There are a million other designers, strategists, creatives, healers, entrepreneurs, but there is only one you, and that is your magic. That is something that no one else can replicate. And there is so much power in owning that and really infusing that into your brand.

Because when you show up as the real you and share more of who you are through your brand, your audience and your community, your ideal clients are going to feel so much more connected to you. And if they don't then chances are they probably weren't your ideal client and it wouldn't have been a good fit. So establishing your brand personality can help you not only magnetize dream clients to you through your brand, but it can also repel clients who aren't ideal and who wouldn't have been a good fit to work with you. Because let's face it, you're not going to be everyone's cup of tea — and that's perfectly okay. By having clarity on your brand personality and infusing this into your brand, you're going to be able to connect so much deeper with the people who are meant to hear your message and with the clients who are meant to work with you.

The next element of your brand that I want to talk about is your brand message. This is something that I absolutely love helping my clients get clarity on. Because when you have really clear messaging and messaging that resonates with your ideal clients, it makes it so much easier to do so many other things in your business when it comes to content creation, marketing, creating your offers and your programs. You can focus on fully showing up for your clients and your community and you can create content that speaks directly to the heart and soul of your ideal client and offers that sell themselves. There is so much more that goes into messaging than just creating your Instagram bio or your elevator pitch. But I'm going to save that for another episode.

The next foundational element of creating an impactful and profitable brand is your brand positioning. This is really thinking about how you stand out in your industry. How do you stand out in your niche? What is unique and different about the work that you do? What do you want to be known for in your industry? What is your edge? What is your unique selling proposition? Because we already know that there are a million other entrepreneurs out there, but we also know that there is only one you, so when it comes to your brand and your marketing and your business, how can you leverage that? What does that look like for you in a way that feels authentic and in integrity?

So once you've done the work to really get clarity and develop your mission, your values, your personality, your message, and your positioning for your brand, the very last foundational element of your brand identity is your brand visuals. And if you do this work, if you dive into the foundational elements of your brand that come before your brand visuals, I can promise you that your brand visuals are going to be so much more aligned and so much more impactful than if you just skipped straight to your brand visuals. This is how you communicate your brand through visuals. Through your logo, your brand colors, your typography, your social media graphics — anything that you use to visually represent your brand. So just like brand messaging, there is so much more that goes into this than just creating a beautiful logo, throwing a colour palette together, or creating some on-brand Instagram graphics. Your brand visuals are a non-verbal way to communicate your message, to showcase your personality, to connect with your ideal clients and your community, and to build credibility and brand recognition. There is so much strategy and psychology that goes into your brand visuals, which is why I definitely recommend working with a designer to help you to create strategic and impactful brand visuals that not only look beautiful and professional, but that truly reflect who you are and attract your dream clients to you with ease.

So the six foundational elements for building a profitable and impactful brand are: your brand mission, your brand values, your brand personality, your brand message, your brand positioning and your brand visuals. But there's something that I want to mention. It's not enough to just have clarity on your brand identity. If you truly want to create a profitable and impactful and sustainable brand, you need to take it one step further. You need to step into your leadership. You need to embody the work that you do. So let this be your sign to do the deeper work that you know you need to do to fully embody your leadership. I hope this episode helped you get clarity, learn something new, or to start looking at your brand from a different perspective.

I'm so excited to share more of this content with you and to help you build a profitable and impactful brand that truly reflects who you are and your mission and create a business and life that you absolutely love — while making a positive difference in the world.
