I’m your host, Kimberly King.

Hey, welcome back to another episode of Lead With Soul. So for today's episode, I thought it would be fun to share some lessons that I've learned along the way in my nine years being an entrepreneur and five years being in the online business world. Whether you're thinking about starting a business or you've just launched your business, or you've been in business for a few years now, I definitely think these lessons and pieces of advice will support you no matter where you're at in your journey.

So my first piece of advice, whether you are just starting your business, or maybe making a shift in your business, maybe you're changing your niche or your messaging or your ideal client, or even your industry, my first piece of advice would be to start where you are. It's so easy to get stuck in comparison or perfectionism or imposter syndrome and I know how paralyzing that can feel. So I want to encourage you to start where you are. Clarity and confidence come from taking action. You don't have to know absolutely everything or consider yourself an expert to move forward in your business. I personally don't resonate with the term expert because I feel like I'm constantly learning and growing and evolving. And I know that there's always going to be more for me to learn.

And if you're feeling stuck in a certain area of your business, whether that's with your messaging or your marketing or your branding, one of the best ways to get clarity is by taking action. Meditating and journaling and talking through things is definitely helpful and has its place. But what I've found is that I've received the most clarity from trying different things out. And remember that your business is going to evolve as you grow. So trust that you have what you need right now today to move forward, whether that's launching the new program or creating the course or writing the book or launching the podcast, whatever it is for you, whatever that thing is that's on your heart and soul that you haven't started because maybe you're lacking the clarity or the confidence, I really want to encourage you to take one action step today, after you listened to this, towards making that thing a reality.

The second lesson and piece of advice that I want to share is to take imperfect action. There is no such thing as perfect. And if we wait for the thing to be perfect, whether that's the timing or the moment or the course or the program, we're going to be waiting forever. And I know it's easier said than done, especially as a recovering perfectionist myself, but the more that you do it and practice taking imperfect action, the easier it becomes. One of the mantras that has really helped me with this is done is better than perfect. And I still use that today when I find myself getting caught up in perfectionism. So take imperfect action. Let it be messy. Your business is going to evolve as you continue to grow. So take the messy and perfect action and let things evolve with you along the way.

The third piece of advice and lesson that I want to share, and this one might be the most important one. Always, always, always follow your intuition. And this applies to everything that you do in your business and your life. If you get a feeling from your intuition, from your gut, that something is off something doesn't feel right, and you've identified that it's not just fear, then trust that feeling. This applies to anything in your life and your business. Of course, strategy is important, but one of the best strategies is following your intuition. And by following your intuition, I don't mean ignore everything that you've been taught or throw all of your strategies out the window, but if there are certain things in your business or your life that your intuition is telling you are not right for you, then listen to that feeling. Others can guide you and support you and give you feedback and strategies and tools. But at the end of the day, only you truly know what's best for you. So trust your intuition and follow your intuition, even when it's uncomfortable.

The fourth lesson and piece of advice that I want to share is that your time is the most valuable resource you have. And I know there's the saying time is money, but I don't agree with that because money is a renewable resource. There is unlimited money available, but your time is not a renewable resource. Once you've spent that time, you can't get it back, which is why it's so important to be intentional with how you spend your time. And one of the best ways to do this is to set boundaries. Whether that's boundaries for yourself, when it comes to how you're spending your time, or maybe it's boundaries within your business, whether that's around client calls or sales calls or social media. Time is one of your most precious and valuable resources. So start treating it that way.

The fifth lesson and piece of advice I want to share is protect your energy. Just like time, your energy is one of your most valuable resources. And while there are ways to help you experience more energy, it's something that can be deeply impacted by other people or situations or experiences. So learning how to protect your energy is necessary. Especially if you are a coach, a creative, a healer, or you are a business owner who works with clients and other people, and especially if your work involves any kind of energy work or mindset work, it can really have an impact on your energy. So set healthy and loving boundaries and learn how to realign and reset your own energy. There are so many great tools and practices you can use to reset and realign your energy. Find the ones that work for you and that you feel you can be consistent with. So I personally love meditating, and this is one of the practices that I do consistently to help me feel grounded and reset my energy. I also love movement and moving my body, and this is another practice that I highly recommend for shifting and realigning your energy.

The sixth lesson and piece of advice I have is invest in your personal growth. Investing in your own personal growth always pays off. Entrepreneurship and owning your own business is one of the greatest catalysts for experiencing personal growth. It can be one of the most challenging experiences of your life, but also the most rewarding, and the amount of personal growth I've experienced since becoming an entrepreneur and starting my own business has been absolutely incredible. Even times when I've invested in my own personal growth and it hasn't turned out exactly how I thought it would or how I wanted it to, every investment and every experience has led me to where I am today. And it's helped me discover who I really am. Investing in my own personal growth is one of the biggest things that has had a massive impact on the growth of my business. So prioritize investing in your personal growth.

The seventh lesson and piece of advice I want to share is to create a support system. And I talked about this and my last podcast episode on navigating mental health as an entrepreneur, but it really is that important and impactful entrepreneurship can be really lonely at times. So having people in your support system who understand what you're going through and who believe in you and your vision can make such a huge difference. So if you don't currently have a support system, I want to encourage you to start reaching out and making connections. I know that's not always easy, especially if you do identify as an introvert or you're more on the shy side, like I am, but having that support and having a community of people who understand what you're going through and who are there to support you and encourage you and hold space for you is so incredibly helpful.

The eighth lesson and piece of advice I want to share with you, whether you are a new business owner or you've been in business for a few years now, is to put your blinders on. I know how easy it is to look at other entrepreneurs on social media or our coaches or people in our community and start comparing ourselves. But the reality is what we see on social media and what people share with us through their business and their content and their marketing isn't always the whole picture. We don't always know what someone is experiencing in their day-to-day life and we also don't always know the challenges and obstacles and struggles that they've had to go through to get to where they are today. It's important to remind ourselves that at the end of the day, we are all human and we are all having our own unique human experience, your experience and your journey, and your timeline is unique to you. I know it's easy to feel discouraged or start to doubt yourself when you see other people on social media or in your community who have the thriving and successful business that you desire. But we don't always see the whole picture. And we also have to remember not to compare our day one to someone's day 100 or 1000. Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. It doesn't matter if it takes you six months or a year or five years or 10 years. Your timeline is your own, and there are no deadlines on your goals or your dreams other than the ones that you create for yourself. So trust in divine timing and know that what is meant for you will always find you.
