The decision to lean into who you truly are. Let's get growing together. Welcome to Roots and Rebirth.
Karen: Hi Terri. Thanks so much for having us. This is such a joy for both of us.
Terri: It's so funny because we were set to record begin recording about 30 minutes ago, but we are so in a flow state, catching up on life podcasts, all the goodness that you guys are doing, and what's to come ahead that it's almost like we're now inviting everyone into our girls chat, our coffee [00:05:00] conversation.
So I know this is gonna be so much fun.
Robyn: Totally agree and it's just so cool to have been on the journey over the last several years together and to have you birth this, which is, makes so much sense that with the name Roots and Rebirth, right? it makes so much sense and we're really honored to be so much a part of it and to have you be such a part of Seeking Center and all that we're building.
It's a real reconnection of souls.
Karen: It is. And it's been a dream for us to be able to have soul sisters like you join us in the in the collective and wanting to share all of these stories with people. You have your own journey. We have ours, we have our own tone of voice.
So do you but collectively, to be able to share all of these journeys with everyone is what we've always dreamed of doing.
Terri: I think we should start there. I wanna talk a little bit about how the name came to be, 'cause it was part of a journey, [00:06:00] and then share with everyone how I got connected to the two of you.
So I been wanting just to get back into storytelling. My first career was in television news and now during the day, I am a state and local lobbyist for a Fortune 300 company, but really wanted to get back to storytelling and. For years thought about, what would I talk about? What would the name be?
And during the pandemic I had a podcast, which pretty much was contained during the pandemic, got busy again. It just went by the wayside. But I stewed, I could not think of the perfect name. And then after a shamanic energy healing session, I started journaling and started thinking about my own name and what it.
I started connecting the dots and what I found was so wild. The last four jobs I've had, I've been the first of some kind, either. The first person to have the role, the [00:07:00] first person at the company to be a lobbyist, the first woman, the first black woman. They were like all these first and by name. If you look up Teri, it means one of harvest.
So then I kept thinking about what happened to myself every time I got one of those roles. And it was this mini rebirth. And, the last job that I came within weeks of me finalizing a divorce, moving into a new place. Just finding my voice in a different way. I've always had a person, been a person with a voice, but it was like a new voice, a new way.
And so it was like, wow, there is this pattern. Where every time I start something new, there's this rebirth that happens, and my life changes in a very big way. And so I hope to tell people's origin story, who they are, where they've been, their triumphs, but most importantly, the obstacles, they've overcome their roots, but also really dig deeper into the stories, the tools, the people, and the guides that have helped them along the [00:08:00] way for the incredible rebirths they've had.
And many of you that are listening, I hope you're like me. With every rebirth I've shed it some sort of layer, some sort of thing, which has allowed me to be the truest version of myself. So I hope that all of us that you're listening to today and the people that you'll meet moving forward will inspire you to do the same.
And along that journey, you'll be able to repair yourself a little bit. And to heal so that you can do the same for those around you in the world.
Karen: Oh, so beautiful.
Robyn: I love that, Terri. That's so profound. And so in alignment with also what Karen and I like to. Have the opportunity to showcase to other people, which is this idea of your soul blueprint.
And so what you're talking about is, there are all of these moments where we have an opportunity to rebirth, to reset and get [00:09:00] deeper and to who we really are. Yeah. And for Karen and I, we really believe so many of those moments. We somewhat planned before we even got here.
And validation that you can find from so many different modalities that end. Validating why you are where you are in your life and the journey that you're on.
Karen: Yeah. Yeah. And it's so funny you asked about the origin of Seeking Center, and I, as you were talking, I'm thinking it really is.
Seeking Center came from our roots and rebirth as well. When Robyn and I came together, we were both at a big crossroads in our lives and we were looking for our purpose. We were taking the roots of who we were, all of our life experiences, our work experiences, our home life.
Everything that we've been through. And when we came together, it was like at the exact moment when we were both ready for a rebirth ourselves. And really that was the heart of Seeking Center. And how we really came together was sharing those [00:10:00] stories and as seekers and the seeker in us was really at our core.
We were saying to each other, it's we know we're seeking something we're. Seeking to come back to really who we are, which is our center. And so that's really where we began our storytelling of our own backgrounds, but then looking for other stories of seekers to share.
Terri: It's what's so wild, as you said that, I, the Cliff Notes version, the, the shortcut version of how You two came together.
But I had this picture of both of you in these big offices working for. Big entities. Karen, you were at the Discovery Network, Robyn you were working for Oprah Winfrey, these big figures, and here you are trying to figure out what are you supposed to do? What is your purpose? Where some people were like, are you kidding me?
You guys have made it, but the decision you made brought you to your truest version of yourself. And to each other. Like you guys are like freaking frac. You're having coffee virtually together every day. [00:11:00]
Robyn: Yes, we do.
Karen: I think we both recognized within each other like very different backgrounds.
Of course. And I remember when I met Robyn. And then her team, I was in awe because you know who isn't in awe of everything that Owen and Oprah has done. And I knew that Robyn and her team were the ones really like behind the scenes creating all of that amazing content. And as a seeker myself, I had always secretly wished to be in their little, club and sitting with them and learning from them, but then also seeing the essence of who they were as women, as leaders as seekers, and very authentic in their stories of Hey, we haven't figured all this out. We, we love exploring, we love diving deep into this, but we haven't figured it out.
But I think where Robyn and I were at our careers were. Yes, this is fantastic, and these companies that we've worked for, it was such a blessing to be there in so many ways, but we wanted to take what we learned and really apply it to, at the [00:12:00] core of what inspired us, which was seeking of being curious of finding out all the magic behind the scenes of life that, you know, we just.
And it had the tip of the iceberg, I think. And so the more Robyn and I shared about our own journeys as different as they were, we realized that we were in the same place of wanting to take everything that we've learned and help other seekers seek with them. So that's how Seeking Center was really born.
Robyn: Yeah. And just to add to that, I would ask everyone who's listening to really pay attention to that feeling that you have inside. And to what you said. Karen and I had worked so hard for so long in these really big and established and unbelievable organizations, and yet we could feel so lost inside.
I don't think that I would have imagined that until I felt it. Yeah, and so I think it's really important that paying attention to that [00:13:00] feeling of. Why am I here? Why am I feeling so lost? It is your calling card to, it's time to change. It's your soul is whispering to you. Something has to change even if it all looks good and even if it's a little scary.
Yeah. What does that look like? And I think what you're providing by telling stories what we're providing by. Telling stories and then also giving people the opportunity to go and experience something so that they can get back to that core of who they are and why they're here and what they should do next.
That's why we are doing what we're doing, but pay attention to that calling because lot of people wanna just stay in their lane. They feel like it's a little too scary to shake it all up because it does look good on paper and you have worked so hard to achieve something. But the whole point of life is to take the roads less [00:14:00] taken, is for the curvy road, not just the straight line.
And you came here to have a journey, and the journey is full of the. Ups and the downs so just remember that. I think it's really important.
Terri: Yeah. You two say this all the time.
Listen to the whispers. And when things are hard, when they're not coming to you with ease, it's 'cause you're not supposed to be on that road. That's right. We say the whispers and take, you know the, we call it in Louisiana, where I'm from, the service road on that. That's perfect. It usually has less traffic and that's the one where you're supposed to be.
Robyn: Yeah. . It makes life a little more interesting, that's for sure. And that's the point, right? If we hadn't done that, we wouldn't all be here right now.
Karen: And with us, we're always saying that the seeking journey is not a destination at all too. And I know that sounds a little bit cliche, but.
After walking the walk for a few years with Robyn I think I've learned that there's, there is so much to learn and that as Robyn was saying, that is the point, and with every. Zig and zag that we've taken, we have learned [00:15:00] so much and the difficult times are the ones that really teach you the most.
And back to the roots and rebirth. Sometimes looking back is also important too. I think so often we're pushed to move forward, do the next thing, get to the destination. But there's so much information in our past and the milestones that we've been through in our lives that are right.
Messages to us about the lessons that we need to learn and maybe the things we need to let go of and the things we need to rebirth into. So everything that you're talking about, Terri, is it's such an important message for people who maybe don't even necessarily feel stuck or maybe not even necessarily feel that they're at a crossroads this minute.
But with every moment and every day, there's that opportunity to. Really understand the essence of who you are. And that's why we love the conversations that we have because it's like a twist of the kaleidoscope that gives you a whole different perspective that you may never have had before.
Terri: Yeah. Speaking of looking back, I found myself during the pandemic, it's about [00:16:00] June, 2020. I just started a new role at a company in. I didn't know if it was quite challenging enough and I get this phone call at the hair salon under the hood of dryer. Don't judge. I was going to the hair salon in the pandemic and I lived in Texas.
We were open and the woman is just telling me, I had a dream about you last night. It was a woman that had only spoken to you twice ever. She was another lobbyist. And she starts painting this picture of me as a young girl dancing on the beach. And I just started crying at this point, really not a crier, definitely not in public, but it was a picture that I had of myself at home.
And so she's telling me she's working with this woman who's helping her reach her full potential. And like her intuition is telling me I need to meet this woman. And it was Sheryl Ky. And so I am like, okay, I look at Sheryl's website and I'm like, this is fascinating. But like [00:17:00] at this point, I'd only talked to a medium once.
That was as far as my like seeking journey had been. So I have a call with Sheryl and I'm like, ah, there's no way one, I can afford this woman too. I don't know if this is gonna work, but I leave the door open as any good lobbyist would, and I'm like, okay I need to learn more. Can I contact you in the future?
And so I find myself months later, November, 2020, I switched jobs. I'm at the world's second largest company, like literally, and I was so lost to use some of the language you guys used before. I was so lost. I went from just being like Terri, this badass lobbyist that everyone knew. It's almost like I was a name brand in the lobbying world.
I say that with like great humility to being one of 300 something lobbyists. The world's largest lobbyist shop. And I'm like, what is happening here? So weird. Who you are didn't matter. You were just a number. I'd be on call saying what was the right thing to do? No one cared and they wanted to do things [00:18:00] that did not make sense, and I knew were not right.
and at the same time too, I was thinking about getting a divorce. So I call Sheryl. Long story short, we start working. This is life changing. And a couple of months into the work, she's I'm gonna introduce you to someone when you're ready. You're not ready, but when you're ready, I'll introduce you to them.
Fast forward, it's like a couple of years. I think it was like December of 2022. She's you're ready to meet my friend. I'm gonna send her an email. Okay. So she sends Robyn an email. It's it was like maybe December 22nd, 2022. I only remember it 'cause I had got to my mom's like for Christmas to celebrate Christmas.
That's a good number, by the way. Wow.
Robyn: I
Terri: have
Robyn: to
Terri: look a lot
Robyn: too.
Terri: That's a lot of
Robyn: two.
Terri: That's
Robyn: a real,
Terri: that's a real angel number. So she sends the email to introduce Robyn and I and we finally meet in January and I'm in the middle of a manifestation challenge, a 21 day manifestation challenge.
I think I mentioned that to you before, Robyn. [00:19:00] So we have our first call and I'm like, what is happening? It was like we've been talking each other for years. It was failed. Yeah.
Robyn: Yes. I always say that. Those are the unlockings, right? Those are the times. 'cause there's not many, honestly, in your life, you can end up.
Remembering most of them because it's so powerful because when you meet your soul family, it's like you could talk forever. You've known each other. Literally. You've known each other in, so many lifetimes that it's this. Your soul is like giving everyone a big hug. That's how I look at it. It's
Karen: like a snapshot in your mind.
It is. You can see it's, that memory is so
Robyn: vivid. Yes. And that, and she must have known that. She must have, 'cause she is, she sees all she must have
Terri: pretty much. But what's so wild is now, I've, I recently had my birth chart read by Stevie, who's, oh, I haven't even
Karen: heard this.
Listen, we're gonna,
Terri: and you guys show up like in 2026. Stevie says, we're [00:20:00] gonna do big things. I introduce you two to Tina Powers, who is one of my, soul family members. You show up every time I have a reading with Tina Powers. There's not been one since I've met you two that you haven't come.
And so it's it's a big soul hug. 'cause, but I see them also as these winks that it is, you are on your right path. Keep going well and.
Robyn: and the fact that we can be aware enough of that is the magic, right? It feels magical. People always ask me, I wanna feel awe, I wanna feel magic.
It's just pay attention. Yeah. They're all there for you. It really is. And sometimes I know when we're going through these really difficult moments in our life you just need them even more. They will show up. They will. It doesn't take everything, it won't make everything magically better in an instant, but it helps.
Yeah. Those, just knowing you are exactly where you're meant to be is just so helpful. It just it, it [00:21:00] can change your day, it can change your life, yeah. And that's what these moments do. And Robyn
Karen: you reminded me too how we always talk about connecting dots with through experiences, and that's something that we love to do is right, take the astrology and layer it with the tarot reading and the Sheryl reading and just see all the synchronicities and commonalities and the messages that we receive.
But what you're reminding me, Terri, too, is like through seeking center through. These experiences through the meetings of all of us together or the remeet, the right, yeah. Yeah. It's the connecting of the dots of our souls as well here on this planet together. We've all had our separate lives, and I could just see us planning this lifetime together, saying, okay, at this point in time we're all gonna come together That's right.
And do incredible things with each other. So I always looked at it, it's
Robyn: like we are. In this lifetime looking for all the pieces of the puzzle to put up the right place. That's what this adventure is really [00:22:00] all about. And if, and then when you two pieces connect, you're like, yes, I feel it.
I feel it in my soul. And I also, on just another little tangent, I wanna just talk about Sheryl and Shamanic work and that. For people who've never heard of a shaman. I had never heard of a shaman in 2018 when I met Sheryl and I was with a friend who said, you need to meet my shaman, Sheryl And Sheryl wouldn't.
I don't even, she's been trained in Shamonic work, but she really is Even beyond that.
Terri: Yeah.
Robyn: Just for that reference, I thought when this person said shaman, I pictured this honestly, in my head, very cliche, some little man that was gonna take me on a walkabout and we were gonna do lots of drugs. I hadn't even thought that drugs were involved.
I didn't,
Terri: I just thought someone, like maybe an Aztec type figure. I didn't even know plant medicine [00:23:00] existed until about a year ago.
Robyn: SI love. And I really was like I don't know that's where my soul, is calling for. And she's oh no, that's not what I'm talking about.
Robyn she lives in Michigan. She grew up in a town right near you in near Chicago. And I was like, oh, okay. And so then I was a little more open 'cause I wasn't, yeah, I am all open to any sort of modality that's gonna help someone. So plant medicine is definitely one of them, but I, at the time I wasn't knowledgeable enough, right? So I meet Sheryl and she's really like someone that can be my friend, so however her energy and her presence are like none other. But I just wanted to say that to people who are like, what are you talking about? And really what she helps you do is there's some deep soul work that we all can use to really help us move forward on this path.
And she can really help you. With [00:24:00] facilitating. So much of that.
Terri: Yeah. Thank you for starting the conversation because some of my family and friends might be listening to me talk about this type of work and just self-healing for the first time. And so for the people that are listening I don't want you to hit pause or go to, what's up next in your podcast because roots and Rebirth will be about this and so much more.
So for me, I still self-identify as a Catholic, but I'm both a believer of, a religious experience and a spiritual experience. I pray to accrue, I'm from Louisiana, so saints guides, my family in heaven, my helpers. I pray to all the peeps, but I definitely wanted a place where we could hold space for both.
So one day we might be talking to a nun who's, a change maker in a community. The next day we might be talking to Tina Powers, or Sheryl netzky, who's also helping people in a different way. What I [00:25:00] hope you discover is that there is, you don't have to pick one, there's no team. You can pick what is most true for you, and you could hold both along the side of each other if that's what resonates.
But the words are very similar. The intentions are very much the same. The work is very much the same. Some days you might find me praying in the morning and transitioning into a meditation. Other days I might be journaling and writing to saints. A little later in that same journal, there might be guides, so I hope that you all leave with an open heart and mind to learn, so that you can truly do the work that you need to repair your soul and yourself and help the world and those around you.
Karen: That's so beautiful Robyn and I talk all the time. It's like you have to go where people are and everybody has a different life experience.
Spirituality can be driving a school bus every day and shining light to children and inspiring them just to get through the day. So everybody has, regardless of who they are and how [00:26:00] spiritual or religious, 'cause I'm very much the same way. I still. Do the Sunday church thing, Catholic.
I don't know, maybe that's just who we are. But I love it all because it's all about ritual. It's about putting Yeah. Yourself out there and allowing yourself to be open to a higher power, whatever you wanna call that, to be your guide and help and strength during, this life journey, which is, which can be really hard at times.
So I think it's wonderful that you're sharing stories of the earth workers as well as the light workers. I think we need to hear all of them.
Robyn: Yeah. And all of this work, just bringing it also back to the roots. When I think about, for me, my dad passed away when I was 12, and that was an instrumental moment in my life and journey for sure.
And it's, however many years later. I look at that and really understand the purpose in it, and I wouldn't be me if that didn't happen. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing right now if that [00:27:00] didn't happen. And I know because I have done a lot of spiritual work and have I. Really channeled different types of and worked on my own abilities to connect with spirit.
I know that my dad and I are working together. Yeah. We planned this we really planned this, and it took however many decades for me to get there. So that happened when I was 12, and then I really had this awakening. It was not my first awakening, but an awakening when I was in my early thirties, and then I'm now, I just turned 50.
And so the work that I've done since that early thirties has really led me to understand my partnership with my dad still exists, and we work together every day. It just in a completely different manner than I would've ever imagined,
Karen: Yeah. And I started out as the Catholic girl of six kids with mom who was very metaphysically Catholic.
So she was the one who had our astrology done when we were young. And I love, I [00:28:00] always tell the story about my uncles who were priests sitting at one end of the table and the astrologers on the other, and these six kids in the middle just drinking in the debate and conversation and how that became part of my DNA as a seeker.
So it's so interesting. That's why I. Don't be afraid to look back because there's so much in those roots of who you are and who you came to be, that grounding ness to the planet that really tells a story of who you are and what you're supposed to be. 'cause Robyn and I laugh all the time about how different our backgrounds are, and yet that has been the very glue of our soul co-creation together is being able to recognize and share all those.
Different aspects and points of view in our conversations and on Seeking Center. So it's really fun. It's, yeah, essence, it's really a fun place to be and to explore.
Terri: I wanna share with people just how. I began a slow life down in where I was because I think that almost paints like the [00:29:00] avatar of who might want to listen to these podcast episodes, who might want to log on to, seeking center your website or your community.
But, for me, in 2019, I was in this space where I just could not let my head and my heart, my body catch up with life. I was. On literally like two dozen nonprofit boards. Had just retired from my last gala chair, nine gala events in 12 years and was thinking about moving on from the organization where I was working.
I worked at one international nonprofit doing lobbying for almost 16 years, and it was like this place where. I was Terri from the American Heart Association instead of just Terri And I could sense that and I was like, no, I need, there's much more to my story than this. I was starting to explore what it'd be like to leave, but I was also working on a master's at an Ivy League.
So it was, there was a lot going on. I was a wife, [00:30:00] a sister, a leader in the community, this executive at work. Couldn't catch up with myself. And I remember driving home from work talking to my mom. I would always talk to my dad when my dad was alive. And then when he passed away, my mom became that person.
And I still talk to my mom every single night at around nine 30 before I go to bed. I. And I was like, I just feel like I can't get it together. I'm driving and I keep hearing car crashes. And she's like, why are you talking on the phone to me now? You should be paying attention to the road. And at the time, my youngest brother he was driving 45 minutes to and from work to get home every night.
And I was like, will you tell him to slow down on the bridge? I have a feeling he's driving fast on the Alaya Bridge with just this 18 mile bridge across a swamp in Louisiana. She's it sounds like you need to be worried about yourself at R And days later, I'm at a party in Washington DC lobbying and there was a cast of characters in front of me.
it's a story for another day, but I'm [00:31:00] lobbying and I felt this energy in this guy and I was like, we need to move. There's something not right with this guy. And so we literally, we move over. The next thing I know, boom, I get hit in the head with a sofa. He picks up a loveseat and it comes down to the back of my head.
I'm outta work for months. Couldn't use a phone. It was a whole thing. But my life changed and for the first time since I was 16, I was forced to slow down and literally I have this line, I tell everyone, it was September of 2019, I found myself at home. Literally in the center of a couch, I can see a clearest day trying to find the center of my life.
And it's the first moment where I really had a very strong rebirth and push. Like literally God was like, I'm gonna knock some sense into that head. literally. But that was when, I began thinking like, how do I slow life down? It should not be this way. Should not feel this hard, should not move this fast.
I. My [00:32:00] first reading with Tina Powers was January of 2020. So right before the pandemic, I also tease, I've always been an overachiever, or I should say recovering overachiever. Don't do that anymore. But I was like three months ahead of the pandemic. Like I was at home when everyone else was just getting started.
I. But that was when I started looking for information about what is out there, what are these whispers I'm getting? What is this intuition, this pull? Because had I listened to that intuition that day in the car with my mom, I might not have had the accident. And so just as I sat on that sofa and literally in the center of the sofa.
Trying to find the center of my life. People who are looking to be inspired to slow down looking for, ways to grow. They might find themselves listening to your, podcast network of people like me are searching for guides in your community. Tell us exactly what is Seeking Center, who might go there and how might they find [00:33:00] help.
Robyn: I love this question. I really do because I'm so grateful and proud of what we've created over the last six years and what that would mean for someone like you. 'cause it makes me think about what with all my work in my almost 20 years with Oprah. We were all about pay attention, as you said before to the whispers because if you don't, a brick is gonna come, hit you upside the head.
That's what Oprah always says, right? She still to this day You literally had that happen to you. So let's just say that. But what we've created and what we've done over these last six years is we've created an ecosystem for somebody to come in, be inspired, and then take action and find support in community.
And it has taken us the six years. To figure out how to meet people where they are and provide them with resources in a way that they can [00:34:00] understand, in a way that's not weird, so that they then can go find their center, it literally is a seeking center and it is your place, as we've said in the intro, to seek your center.
And what we've done is by finding. So many different practitioners of all different types of modalities, who are people that you would want to just hang out with, maybe grab a cup of coffee with, because they're able to translate their ability to you in a way that you can hear. That will help you facilitate healing in your own self so that you can make real change.
And it is, as we've already talked about in here, connecting the dots. And so you can actually have that experience on your own, but you can also see it with all the different content that we are creating. So Whether they are podcasts, our own or within our network or on YouTube and videos, or in our community, we have a private community [00:35:00] that we are constantly posting inspiration on a daily basis, a weekly basis.
And we're also creating these experiences for people to partake so they can try 'em and see what resonates. 'cause for every single person, it's gonna be different. And I'm gonna let Karen talk '
Karen: wow. All of what you said is so true and I think what we're most proud of in Seeking Center, when Robyn and I were first starting the podcast, it was really for our own journey.
We wanted to have these experiences personally. And so we talked to so many people and what we found within our com now our community of practitioners, is that they're there's such real people who've gone through real life experiences, So they are practicing literally what they preach and what they've experienced in their own world.
And so this collective of practitioners now Seeking Center is not about one of them. It's about all of them. It's about a allowing people to come and as Robyn said, find what's right for them. So it might be a yoga practitioner, it might be [00:36:00] someone who is. Looking to just change their whole diet.
Everybody's got a different path in. And what we love about Seeking Center is that it's not about one modality, it's not about one person. It is really truly about the community, and that's the community of practitioners as well as the community of seekers that are there. So it's different in that sense.
We're not promising that you're gonna come in and in 30 days be a transformed human being. It's really about coming in, experiencing and going from one mod, as we were saying before, connecting the dots, layering them and learning as you go. And
Robyn: I just wanna point out that for me, going back to what we talked about like in the beginning of this episode, where.
Karen and I were at a place where we like to say our crossroads moment where we didn't know what to do. And for every person that's different. It could be divorce, it could be a diagnosis, it could be a major loss in your life. There's so many different reasons you get to this point, and for me, it was having different experiences with different spiritual [00:37:00] modalities in somewhat of a short amount of time.
That really was the catalyst for my change a psychic, a medium. Sheryl the shaman astrologer another medium. And all of these and there was actually even more, but all of these people ended up telling me basically the same thing. They didn't know each other. Only one knew me prior.
And it made me pay attention and understand there was something that they were all seeing that I wasn't, and I wanted to understand what that meant. So it made me curious enough to go look into that, do my soul work, and have the confidence to make change in my life. And.
This is where Seeking Center was birthed from that 'cause I wanted to make sure other people can have that opportunity with authentic people. What I learned through my years at Oprah is that there are people that are come in that may be really good salespeople at what they do, but
you wanna find people who have real integrity and I think [00:38:00] that was is at the forefront of what we do is finding authentic. People like you, Terri, who are willing to hold someone's hand as they walk through their journey and make change so that they can reach their greatest potential in this lifetime.
Karen: I love it so much.. I was gonna say too, the other thing that I love so much about the community is we now offer an opportunity for people to just get a sense of what these experiences are like as well. So we do live, I. Sessions with these practitioners where people can actually see how does a medium work, They don't have to go out there and spend, all this money to be able to really see authentically how that experience actually works. And so if you're a news seeker, it gives that opportunity for you to just take a nibble in and look and decide for yourself if that's the right experience for you.
And I think when we first started out that's what we were looking for too. Yeah. How do you break down these experiences so that everybody, yeah. Expand them and not be afraid of them. [00:39:00] Yeah,
Terri: I go back to the first time I met with Tina Powers, my dad passed in 2017 and just shook my entire world.
But I have a, I I call her my Jewish mentor some days, other days, my Jewish mom. Debbie who told me, she said, I think for your grief, you really need to see a medium. And she listened to me, for years. Talk about my dad. I met Debbie in 2016 and she actually filled in for my mom and dad at an award I got in 2017.
A month before he passed. My parents were slated to come and that he got really sick all of a sudden, Debbie literally sat in their seats. So she's just that way. She's family to me. So she introduced me to Tina Powers and I actually was able to get in with ease because there's like a six month wait list for Tina.
She's so good. And I grew up going to Catholic school. We have priest and nuns in our family. My mom and dad is just hilarious. They used to invite the priest over to their house on Fridays for happy hour. My dad would sit with a priest and drink Crown Royal and my mom would cook [00:40:00] fried chicken and whatnot.
It was like, awesome. But we are like Catholic. Catholic. Like my family built the church. It burned down. My family rebuilt it and I was just like, I don't know, I don't know if this is right because it's what I was taught was right. So I showed up and my dad, of course, he knew where I was and she's there's a father figure here with three dogs.
And I was like. What, and I just started crying immediately. But it was also this sense of relief and we had three dogs that passed away before Facebook, so there's no way Exactly. and it's that kind of validation.
yes. And shortly after that I had another incident where, I was auditioning to be part of a program.
I'll have to tell that story another day 'cause it's wild and. I started telling you know about my dad's passing and how that allowed me to feel like for the first time, and I got goosebumps all over, but it felt like he was standing on my right side. That was where I felt most of the, [00:41:00] sensation.
And I later found out that the right side represents your father side of your life, so I was like, what? There's no way. But I love that there are these moments that validate for me that this is something that. Allows me to be more open. But to the point you made earlier, Karen, I could return to, sitting in my hometown Catholic church and hearing a song and just the wa waterworks begin because I'm supposed to be right there.
And that is where I feel centered where I feel at home, so people as they listen to this, they'll get to hear stories of a mom who talks about losing her child, but. Finding strength in religion and eventually naming her son after someone in the Bible or her business after her son and someone in the Bible.
And just the beauty that comes from that, or they might get to meet someone like Tina Powers and she talks about how she's helped families like find loss, pets and children. There are just so many, fun episodes we have and even some [00:42:00] just about what it means to be mindful.
I. And how you can bring more mindful moments to your workplace or yourself. So there's a little bit of everything for everyone here, but I think the thing that remains the same is in every episode there's an opportunity for you to learn and to grow. And to reconnect with self so that no matter where you are in life or in the world or in your career or working at home, you can always strive to be that truest version of yourself.
'cause that feels really hard today.
Robyn: I love that. It's so true. And when you are on this journey, and you start to be more curious and to do some deeper work you're gonna be really surprised at what you find. Because I. I myself now can tap into deceased loved ones, Yeah. When we talk about not being able to Google things right, and so then therefore you know that they're tapping into something.
I now can do that [00:43:00] and we all actually have the ability , in different ways if we choose to really dig in and practice, honestly. Yeah.
Karen: I love so much learning about these modalities. So it's hard to say almost, but it's like how special I am. There's something, in religion of course, that you're here for a purpose and all those things, but I think through these, some of these modalities, like through astrology, there's a blueprint of Karen.
Yeah, I didn't even know it until I really started unraveling all of those things. And I think for the first time in my life it made me feel important that I'm here and that there is something really specific for me to do and then more inspired than ever to learn what that was and not waste the not waste, but like really make sure that I know that I have tapped into the truest essence of who I'm here to be. And. I don't have to be Oprah or the president of the United States to be important here. That my light, my [00:44:00] role, my impact. Is so important because I got to be here right now.
Robyn: I got the ticket. Yeah.
We always talk about this, when we've talked to other practitioners and guides as well, they always say it is, this is a hard ticket to get. We are all miracles. And when we channel our, yeah, when we're channeling spirit it comes through almost every time. You are a miracle.
To Karen's point, and really we are so fortunate because the line to get to Earth School is really long and hard to get into. This is a hard university. People, we forget. We forget the whole, totally
Karen: forget I had this moment where we were doing some past life regression and remembered being with Robyn.
I. I literally, before I, I'm 10 years older than she is, and so I had a head start and I remember holding her hands and looking at her and saying, don't forget. Don't forget why we are here
Terri: and
Karen: I am [00:45:00] so glad we remembered. Yeah, so glad when she sat, in front of me in Oprah's conference room and I saw that light in her that we. took the leap of faith to share our stories and made this connection and it's so easy to miss those opportunities. we're reconnecting, but we're open now to look for the signs, look for the synchronicities, look for that light in that person that just walked into the room. Why am I supposed to, am I supposed to get to know them? This is the inspiration that comes from Seeking Center.
Robyn: And use Seeking Center to then share them with each other so we can all, yes. Saying to one another, oh my God, I just had the craziest sign. I just had the craziest synchronicity. that is what's fun. We want people to feel comfortable in a safe space so that they don't feel all cray or weird.
They can say oh my God, do you think that this was my dad? Do you think this was my mom? Or is this meant to be like, those kinds of things. Those are the questions that we hope that. We can all help each other [00:46:00] answer for each other.
Terri: I was gonna say something, but you know what, as they say, 'cause I had to learn how to date again after I got divorced, but then.
Dating the same person for over a year and now, so it's a story for another time. But when I was first dating, they were like, you gotta leave them wanting more. You gotta leave them chasing you and so we gotta drop in, leave the conversation here so everyone can follow us.
Yeah. Listen to the next episode. Yes. But there's so much good ahead. I wanna say thank you to both of you. You've inspired me to say yes to storytelling again. I'm so proud to be part of the Seeking Center umbrella where there are more people like me telling stories, more people like you, sharing what's on their heart.
So I hope that everyone. Follow me, roots in rebirth. You guys at Seeking Center and know when you show up here, I'm showing up raw. Some days I might not have makeup on. Think about the amplification that you'll be doing for everyone and how they'll be able to do the same. So thank you.
