God’s journey with humanity over the ages has been filled with unending love and underserved favour. As humanity strives for peace in amongst the violence and eternity in amongst the temporary, there is always a remnant for revival.

Revival being preserving life and relationship with our creator. Life that is not only for this finite world, but continues through to eternity. Eternal life that is a gift of God and can only be sustained by Him.

True revival comes from God. As He is continually pursuing humanity in love, enduring with longsuffering, there is always a remnant to receive revival. To receive Him and His salvation.

Let us go to one of the letters by the Apostle Paul that reveals the amazing unconditional love of God and His heart of revival.

Roman 9:22-27 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? As He says also in Hosea: “I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved.” “And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ There they shall be called sons of the living God.” Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, The remnant will be saved.

It is God’s desire that none should perish. However, out of His great love, He gives each individual and people group free choice. To choose to receive God’s mercy and right to rule and reign or reject it.

In this context the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction are those who will never receive  God and His right to rule and reign. As a result they effectively have aligned themselves with evil. Having aligned themselves with evil, they are at war against God and are prepared for destruction. As evil destroys, being aligned with evil leads to destruction. Which is evil’s destiny and pathway into eternity. A destiny of judgement and torment in the eternal lake of fire and brimstone.

But God in His great love continues to provide the choice of His pathway into eternity. Even to those who will never receive Him, the choice is there for them. God’s pathway into eternity is salvation, peace and eternal life together with God in His kingdom.

Those who receive God are those who the writer Paul states have been chosen to receive His mercy. By acknowledging their need for a saviour, receive God and His right to rule and reign, receive His mercy of salvation.

As God knows all things they are also those who have been prepared beforehand for glory. The glory of God that is His eternal life and light, love and peace, truth and equality.

So before the beginning of time itself, the creator of heaven and earth and all things good looked into eternity. He saw the vessels of mercy and the vessels of wrath.

The vessels of mercy prepared for His glory, who in His joy, delight in Him and each other.

The word that has been translated as prepared in this context means to repair, mend, restore, complete, make ready beforehand what ought to be. These vessel’s prepared in Him, for Him and each other, are revived and restored to how they were designed to be.

For God created humanity both male and female in His image, designed for good. Created to be one with God and only good. Living together with our creator in His kingdom and glory. In a sanctuary or paradise of only God and only good. Where evil has no power, no place and no existence.

God’s kingdom is a place of peace and equality or righteousness. That is the righteousness of God Himself - the Father, Son and Spirit. A rightness of equality and respect. The honour and respect of God within the godhead is the same honour and respect that God created humanity in. A honour and respect of equality or rightness and justice.

Knowing that humanity would choose to be one with both good and evil and give power to evil, God in honour and respect still created. A honour and respect of pure love. A selfless love that is divine.

So there would always be a remnant to receive revival. Those who want to be one with only God and dwell in His kingdom together for all eternity. To choose to be vessels of mercy prepared for His glory.

So out of honour and respect, fuelled by a selfless divine love, God continues to pursue humanity. All humanity, both those who choose to be vessels of mercy and those who choose for themselves to be vessels of wrath.

Paul goes on to say that the vessels of mercy are from every tribe, tongue and nation. Not only those of Jewish lineage, but all people groups.

Through the Old Testament prophets of God’s sacred book, the heart of God for all people is again revealed. For God’s heart desire for all people to be equal has never changed. Quoting Hosea God stated, I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved.

This is a very powerful statement. Initially these words were to a neglectful and prideful people of Jewish lineage who had turned their back on God. They had delighted in inequality and oppressed others.

Yet through the prophet Isaiah, God promised the remnant of Israel will be saved. In this context they are all those of Jewish lineage throughout the ages, who have received God.

Interestingly this word that has been translated as beloved from the prophet Hosea is the same word that Jesus uses in quoting the law back to those of Jewish lineage when He walked the earth as a man. In both  instances it is translated as love. A love for all people equally. The same love of God that gifts His salvation to all humanity, people group, tongue and nation. For there will always be a remnant to receive revival. Anyone desiring God will receive Him and His salvation.

In today’s text salvation is revealed as revival. It is linked with righteousness. That is equity or equality.

Remembering that pure love, true love is giving free choice. Each one throughout their life on earth has the choice to receive God’s free gift of salvation. To choose to be part of a remnant to receive revival. Choose to be a vessel of mercy, whom God prepared beforehand for glory.

Or choose to be part of a group who reject God and deny their only pathway to salvation. Choose to be a vessel of wrath prepared for destruction.

Let us continue on through Romans chapter 9.

Roman 9:22-33 For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, Because the LORD will make a short work upon the earth.” And as Isaiah said before: “Unless the LORD of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We would have become like Sodom, And we would have been made like Gomorrah.” What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. As it is written “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

Paul explains that those who refuse to receive Jesus, who is referred to as a rock of offence are put to shame. For faith, true faith is receiving Jesus, receiving God and His right to rule and reign. Receiving Him and as a result receive His gift of salvation. That is receive His revival and as a result restored to how we were designed to be. One with God, one with only good and one with each other.

Paul boldly declares that whoever receives Jesus, receives God will never be put to shame. For God honours and respects each one equally. He loves unconditionally and never interferes with anyone’s free choice. God continually pursues humanity in love. For there is always a remnant to receive revival.

Whilst there is always a remnant for revival, the truth marches on through the hearts and minds of everyone who has said yes to Jesus, yes to God. They have accepted God’s right to rule and reign, given total allegiance to Him and worship only Him. That is the one true God who created the heavens and the earth and all things good.

Having received all God has done in Jesus, have received His mercy. As a result are vessels of mercy. Each vessel of mercy in this life journey carries a testimony of the good news of what God has done in Jesus.

Every disciple of Jesus, from every tongue and nation is part of God’s revival mission. By receiving Jesus, receiving God we testify to the powers of both the spiritual and physical realm of what God has done in Jesus. Until Jesus returns, we carry His Spirit of testimony, individually and collectively. For it is the greatest true story that continues to be told.

As the Spirit of the living God dwells within every disciple of Jesus, we carry His Spirit of revival. His Spirit of testimony, who testifies of what God has done in Jesus. Therefore as we journey through this life, everywhere we go, His Spirit testifying of revival is within us.

For this is the testimony. That in a moment of time, the Son of God became human. For the salvation of humanity is in Jesus’ human birth, death and resurrection. Salvation from evil, death and our selfish desires. Restored to our original design and identity of being one with God and only good. For this is indeed goodwill to humanity and good news to all people.

Throughout history God has never left Himself without a testimony. Since humanity chose to become one with both good and evil, God has been making Himself known. Pursuing humanity in love, He has revealed Himself to individuals and people groups throughout the ages.

Through His creation, both physical and spiritual, God has reached down into humanity’s darkness. Shining His glorious divine light. Bringing His identity, truth and salvation of revival to the world. For there is always and remnant to receive revival.

However when the fullness of time has come, that is all who will come to Him have come, Jesus will return. As all who have come to Him have come, there is no longer a remnant to receive revival. At that moment, in a twinkling of an eye, all the remnant throughout the ages will enter into eternity with God. Each one who has received Jesus, received God will receive His fullness of salvation.

This is known as the end of time itself. When Jesus walked the earth as man He talked much about this time and the end of the age.

Matthew 24:13-14 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

He who endures to the end are those who have given total allegiance to God and worship only Him. They have received God and His salvation and as a result endure to the end.

The remnant to receive revival throughout the ages are passed from judgement and enter into His eternal salvation. The end is the fulfilment of God’s plan before the foundation of the world. It is complete and the dawn of eternity begins.

Revelation 22:3-5 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.
