Throughout God’s love story the Bible, His character is revealed. From the Old Testament writings of the law and the prophets and the books of poetry and wisdom, through to the New Testament eye witness accounts, letters and end time literature, God’s heart for true justice is evident. God’s true justice is no partiality which means equality for all.
In the days of old, the Ancient Israelites were given the law through Moses. The law was given to reveal their need for a saviour and God’s heart for all people. The Ancient Israelites were to be a light unto the surrounding nations. Set apart, so that the surrounding nations would come to know the God of gods and Lord of lords. So that the people of every tongue and nation would know the great God who is mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality, nor takes any bribes. For He is pure, just and only good.
He is the Eternal One who created the heavens and the earth and all things good.
Only God who is pure and just can administer justice for all. Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity and socio economic status, He shows no partiality.
Throughout history He continues to pursue humanity in love. With His selfless love reaching down into the hearts of individuals, people groups and nations.
Speaking to the Ancient Israelites, who God describes as a stiff-necked prideful people, Moses testifies that God administers justice for the fatherless and the widow. He also shows His love for the stranger by giving them food and clothing. God through Moses was revealing His heart for all people to be equal. Where there is nothing that separates or divides, oppresses or hinders anyone from knowing Him.
Everything God does He does because of who He is. For He is just and true and gives love, honour and respect.
So God instructs Moses to command the Ancient Israelites the following.
Deuteronomy 16:18-22 “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment. You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. You shall follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
“You shall not plant for yourself any tree, as a wooden image, near the altar which you build for yourself to the LORD your God. You shall not set up a sacred pillar, which the LORD your God hates.
God links His true justice of no partiality to His identity. For if the Ancient Israelites set up an image and worship any other god, they were not only rejecting God, but they were aligning themselves with that idol. Declaring war on God and giving a false perception of God to the surrounding nations.
For only God shows no partiality. He is the only one who brings true justice of equality and respect.
God through Moses urges the Ancient Israelites to administer justice. True justice, God’s justice. Where they are not to prevent justice. That is to bend away from what is just. That is to bend away from God’s way of showing no partiality. Perverting justice brings inequality and injustices. Which is the way of this world.
Unlike this world of inequality and unjust systems, God’s kingdom is the opposite. His kingdom is a place of equality and true justice. A place of healing and restoration of relationships to how they were originally created to be. That is relationships of equality and respect.
God’s kingdom of no partiality and true justice is a community of individuals who are one in Christ Jesus.
To live in the reality of God’s kingdom of equality and respect, in this world damaged by evil, is a daily journey of surrender. Surrender of self will to that of the Father God’s will. Giving over our selfish desires to control and manipulate others to get what self wants. Giving them and the good desires to God is living in the victory of surrender. When in surrender to God, we remove all blockages preventing us from receiving from Him. Where in surrender we take a moment to receive more of His transforming power. Being empowered by God to see each other through His eyes of love and equality. Through His transforming work within, is being a true witness of God. Where out of His heart, we show no partiality.
In the New Testament, it is recorded how God revealed to the Apostle Peter that He has no partiality. This time God’s partiality is linked with the gift of forgiveness, freedom and deliverance. It is also the release from the bondage of self, evil and judgement.
Let us read, Acts 10:34-43 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all— that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
Peter was one of the three who saw the majesty of Jesus. Up on the mountain, Jesus was transfigured before them. Peter, James and John heard God the Father from the excellent glory, honour Jesus. They heard these powerful words, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’
After Peter witnessed the resurrected Jesus ascended back into heaven, he proclaimed the good news that God shows no partiality. Bringing salvation and judgement to each one equally.
So Peter opened his mouth and spoke to a household of people who were not of Jewish lineage. Peter explains the good news of God and what he has done in Jesus.
That in truth, the truth given to Peter by God and confirmed through the prophets and eye witnesses accounts is that God shows no partiality.
Peter states, ‘…in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.’ That is every individual throughout the ages regardless of ethnicity, country or culture they are born into, has the same opportunity to be accepted by God.
Fear in this context is to have a reverence. That is an honour and respect for God and as a result accept Him and His right to rule and reign.
This reverence, honour and respect for God in this context is intricately linked with the works of righteousness. The first work of righteousness is to believe and receive God’s right to rule and reign. As a result receive His equity and justice. The continued works of righteousness is to remain in Him. That is to continue to believe and receive God’s right to rule and reign. Giving total allegiance to Him and worshipping only Him.
Throughout the ages God has shown no partiality as He loves unconditionally. Everything God does He does out of who He is. For He is the Eternal One who out of His great love, in the beginning, before time itself, created.
Both the Old and New Testament are a witness that God is equitable and just. He shows no partiality and loves unconditionally. He never discriminates and is the God who created.
God gives all of Himself to anyone who is willing to receive Him. Receive Him, receive His gift of salvation and forgiveness and receive His kingdom of equality and justice.
God shows no partiality as He pours out His Spirit on all humanity. His spiritual rain falls on the unrighteous and righteous. Out of God’s great love, He gives each one free choice. To receive Him and His kingdom or reject Him and His kingdom. To drink freely His living waters and receive His kingdom of equality and respect, freedom and forgiveness, salvation and healing.
For whoever believes and receives God and His right to rule and reign, receives release from bondage and as a result eternal freedom. This eternal freedom is a complete pardon of all offences ever said, thought or done.
Living in the fullness of this eternal freedom is a daily journey. A daily journey of surrendering self will to that of the Father’s will and receiving more of Him. Being transformed by Him each and every day. Living in a continuum of surrendering to God and receiving from Him, is life transforming. Not only in this life but for all eternity.
As God is the one who brings the fullness of His eternal freedom into our reality, we simply surrender and receive.
God shows not only shows no partiality in His gift of salvation but He shows no partiality in judgement. For in a moment of time, Jesus will return to the earth. When He brings the fullness of salvation to all who have received Him He will also bring judgement to the living and the dead. That is all those throughout the ages who have rejected God, rejected Jesus will be judged.
Let us read Revelation 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
The judgement of God is perfect and pure. All those who have rejected God and His right to rule and reign are judged according to their works. That is the rejection of God, which is effectively aligning oneself with evil and the destiny of evil. As the destiny of evil is being cast into the lake of fire, so too are all those who have rejected God. For God shows no partiality. Regardless of ethnicity, gender, socio economic status, all who have rejected Him will come under judgement.
Conversely all those who have received God, received Jesus and His right to rule and reign, shall dwell with Him forever. Not just spiritually but physically for all eternity. The destiny of Jesus and all those who have received Him is dwelling together in the new heaven and the new earth. Where evil has no place and the fulfilment of God’s kingdom of equality and justice is fully realised. Regardless of ethnicity, gender, socio economic status, all who have received Him will dwell with Him for all eternity.
Revelation 21:22-27 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
