00:21 Speaker

It is said by a man who is considered by humanity to have been the richest and wisest person  who ever lived, that this life journey without God is empty and futile. Through his life experiences he concluded that power, popularity, pleasure and position in this world is all vanity. That none of these things can satisfy. He stated, that the conclusion of the whole matter is this. Have reverence of God and guard His commandments, that is keep watch over them. Listen to God and treasure His ways. As God has put eternity in the heart of humanity, every work will be brought into judgement. Including every secret thing, whether good or evil. The writer of such words was Solomon.

There is an eternity, that is a never ending state of being. It cannot be avoided as God has put eternity in each one’s heart.

In eternity there are two very different abodes. One is an eternity filled with light and life, love and peace, joy and goodness. The other is filled with darkness and death, hate and torment, grief and evil.

Never shall the two abodes of eternity meet or be crossed from one to the other, for there is an eternal chasm between the two. The contrast of these two abodes and those who dwell there are vividly depicted in the book of the Revelation of Jesus.

In the abode of the king eternal and immortal living God, the holy city is symbolically depicted as a bride clothed in white and adorned for her husband. The bride is all those who are God’s people. That is they have said yes to Jesus, yes to God and His right to rule and reign. Worshipping only Him in His spirit and truth, are only one with only good.

Revelation 21:10-14 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Verses 18-21 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

The eternal one states from His eternity, ‘Behold, I will make all things new. It is done! I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely, to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things and I will be his God and He shall be My son.’

In complete contrast, the abode of the evil one, the abominable city is depicted as a mother of harlots and filled with the abominations of the earth. She is drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. All those who have rejected Jesus, rejected God and refused His right to rule and reign have aligned themselves with the great harlot. This is described as having committed spiritual fornication in rejecting God, rejecting Jesus and therefore are one with evil. They shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.

The abode of the king eternal and immortal living God is a work of God Himself. It is precious and pure, perfect and holy. The glory of God illuminated it and the king eternal is its light. All of the nations of those who have said yes to Jesus, yes to God shall be in it’s light. The kings of the earth bring glory and honour into the eternal abode, worshipping the living God in His spirit and truth.

Again in complete contrast, the abode of the evil one is the product of evil and the kings of the earth who rejected Jesus, rejected God. They were of one mind, that is of evil and they knowingly and willingly gave power to the beast. Having aligned themselves with evil, they made the inhabitants of the earth who rejected Jesus, rejected God, drink with wine the fornication of the evil city. Entering into an eternity where the evil one, demons, and every foul spirit and all those who have aligned themselves with evil exist.

In the abode of the king eternal and immortal, living God, is a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal. The tree of life eternal is there. It bears fruit and each can eat freely. The leaves of the tree of life eternal were for the healing of the nations. There shall be no more curse, no more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain. Songs of freedom and words of adoration to the king eternal and living God will be heard. In the midst is the immortal living God who sits on the throne and the king eternal, that is Jesus who sits on His throne. Around the throne are all those who have received the king eternal and the immortal living God. Together they are ruling and reigning with Him.

The abode of the evil one has an eternal fire of judgement, grief, torment and sorrow. All the empires of humanity without God and the wealth and power that they have accumulated will be made desolate. The violence of the evil city will be thrown down. The lies and deceptions of evil will be exposed. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. No songs will be heard, just the sounds of evil, oppression, torment and pain. Together with all those who have rejected Jesus the king eternal and the living God, having aligned themselves with evil are in the eternal abode of judgement.

As God has put eternity in the heart of humanity, every work will be brought into judgment. Including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

For those who have received the king eternal, received the living God, are passed over from the judgement of evil. Their name is found in the Book of Life. Yet what each one has done in this life, will be assessed. Whether good or bad. That is whether led by the Spirit of God or led by the selfish desires of self.

In ancient times when the ruling empire of humanity was Rome, there was an important trade hub. The people who were there were considered successful in the world’s eyes. The Apostle came to them with the good news about the king eternal, the living God. Still in their prideful self however, even when they had received Jesus, received God they were boasting in all things, including God’s work. This place was Corinth.

So to a prideful people, the Apostle Paul wrote a letter to those who dwelt there and had received the king eternal, received the living God but were still trapped in their selfish desires. They were not living the daily surrender of their selfish desires to God, so there was much conflict and bad behaviour within the church. So Paul writes a letter to them explaining how everything that is done in this life will be judged. Speaking to them in a way their pride would understand. He explains how everything that is done in this life will be judged or accessed. That is the motive of every work exposed.

1 Corinthians 3:9-15 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Here Paul explains that any work led by the Spirit, it will have eternal value and is described as building with gold, silver or precious stones. Yet if any work has been done with the motive of selfish desires, then it will not have any eternal value. It is not led by God’s spirit is described as building with wood, hay and straw. It will be burnt up in the fire. Yet they themselves remain saved as they received the king eternal, received the living God. Giving total allegiance to Him and worship only Him.

The motive of what has been done by each individual who has received the king eternal, received the living God will be revealed by His fire.

The fire is the presence of the living God Himself, for He alone knows the secrets of each one’s heart. To those who have received Him, His fire, His presence is His salvation, love and eternal innocence. Dwelling in eternity with the king eternal and the living God.

The living God has pout eternity in each one’s heart and He gives the right to choose. He continually pursues humanity in love and has done everything for humanity. He has given all of Himself and made a way for each one to be without excuse. All because He so loves, everyone has the right to make an informed choice.

The Apostle Paul puts it this way in Romans 1:18-23 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Having known the truth, having heard the truth, those who have rejected the king eternal, rejected the living God, come under the judgement of evil. The fire of the living God is judgement, death and eternal damnation to them. Their names are not found written in the Book of Life and they are cast into the lake of fire and brimstone. This is the same eternal abode of the devil, the beast and the false prophet. For rejecting the king eternal, rejected the living God is to give power to evil and align oneself with it.

Each individual and people group’s eternity is determined by who each one chooses to worship.  God gives each one through this life journey free choice. Every individual throughout the ages has the right to choose who they worship. The right to choose who they align their eternity with. For there is eternity in each one’s heart.

The choice is clear. Receive the king eternal, receive the living God and His inheritance. Live together with God in His eternal abode.

Or reject the king eternal, the living God and receive the judgement of evil. Live together with the evil one, the beast and the false prophet, in their eternal abode.

Jesus is coming back. He is the faithful and true witness and His testimony is true. He will judge the living and the dead.

Let us conclude with Revelation 22:12-13 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Verses 20-21 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
