As we herald in this new season we will go deeper into God’s heart and His ministry of reconciliation. The act of reconciliation is the process of making compatible or bringing into  harmony. For a greater revelation of this please listen to last week’s podcast titled, The Ministry of Reconciliation.

God in His selfless love has made a way for humanity to be reconciled. Yet each individual throughout the ages has free choice. Free choice to receive God’s gift of reconciliation or reject God’s gift of reconciliation.

Having said yes to Jesus, yes to God, we are His ambassadors of reconciliation. We are a new creation. Yet this reality is a daily journey of surrendering self will to that of the Father’s will. For it is the Father’s will for us to live in the reality of being reconciled to God. In perfect harmony with God, we are a new creation.

Upon saying yes to Jesus, yes to God, we begin the daily journey in a covenant relationship with God. A relationship of intimacy and trust. Having been reconciled to God Upon saying yes to Jesus yes to God we become part of the dawn chorus. The new song, that heralds in His new creation. Where Jesus rules and reigns in our hearts and minds and we live in continual surrender of self will to that of the Father’s will.

In surrender to Him, being transformed by Him, we are a living testimony of His continual transforming work within our hearts and minds.

The Apostle Paul puts it this way.

2 Corinthians 5:17-6:2 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus’ death was not only for all humanity, but it was for each individual. Jesus’ death not only paid the cost for every offence ever said thought or done by humanity, but He also conquered death. He died a physical death on our behalf.

Representing humanity, in an act of substitution, Jesus died the physical human death. Yet praise God the new song did not end there. For this is no tragedy. Jesus was raised to life and obtained a glorified resurrected body. So that we could receive His eternal life in a resurrected glorified body. Living in a new heaven and new earth where evil has no place of power. Together with Jesus, together with God. In perfect harmony.

Jesus’ life, death and resurrection was not just for our future inheritance of our resurrected glorified bodies that never get sick and never die, but is also for us to experience a new life now. Where as we live in this world damaged by evil, even as our bodies get sick and die, we can live in the present reality of God’s reconciliatory work. That is in constant harmony with Jesus, surrendered to God and the Father’s will.

The Apostle Paul declared that Jesus died for all, so that we could truly live. That is even in this world damaged by evil, be no longer controlled by the negative, destructive force of self. No longer living for ourselves. But living in Jesus’ victory of a heart mind condition of surrender.

Where we are being transformed by God, receiving more of Him. That is more of His love for us and in us and for others. Receiving His joy that is not just a feeling, it is an inward reality that cannot be taken away by the sorrows of this world. More of His peace especially in the midst of the conflicts of relationships in this world damaged by evil. Receiving more of His patience in this fast paced hectic modern world. Where we can surrender the desire to make things happen. More of His kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control. Ultimately seeing others through His eyes of selfless love. All of this is the daily work of God within us as we surrender and receive.

So in being in surrender to God we receive His reconciliatory work within. As we personally and intimately surrender to our Father in heaven, we receive more of Him, we are His testimony.

God’s reconciling work in and through us is inseparable from God’s nature and mission. As His new creation, we are part of His story. We are His testimony to the world.

The reconciliation mission of God includes the announcement of the work of God. One of the most precious aspects of being reconciled to God is being part of the dawn chorus. The dawn chorus that heralds in the new dawn, that testifies of God and His kingdom.

In the natural, before the beginning of the day the birds of the air would sing a song. Even before the sun was above the horizon they would herald in the new day. Testifying to the world of what is about to take place. Each species would start to sing at different times. Those most sensitive to light would start the chorus. They would sense a change in the atmosphere. Even though there is such diversity of species, it is with one voice in unity of purpose that they sing.

This is a very beautiful example of God’s kingdom. Within God’s kingdom there is such a diversity as each disciple of Jesus is unique. From every people group, nation and tongue, whoever says yes to Jesus, yes to God is part of His dawn chorus. Testifying to the world of what is about to take place. Heralding in the new dawn of Jesus the divine light. Not only singing the new song unto Jesus for who He is and and what He has done, but also testifying of what is about to take place. That at the appointed time by God the Father, Jesus will return to earth in all His glory.

At that moment, in a twinkling of an eye, those who have received Him and given their total allegiance to Him, will receive the fullness of salvation and God’s reconciliation mission. That is receiving their resurrected glorified bodies that never get sick, never wear out and never die.

Remembering that reconciliation is bring into harmony, making compatible, upon Jesus’ return He will bring judgement. Judgement of the empires of humanity throughout the ages who rejected God and His right to rule and reign. Along with judgement of individuals who have rejected God and thus aligned themselves with evil. Evil will be totally eliminated from the earth. A new heaven and new earth will be reconciled.

The Apostle Paul in his letter to those who had receive Jesus and given their total allegiance to Him talks about this moment of the fullness of God’s reconciliation ministry.

Ephesians 1:9-10 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.

So as we live in the era of being part of the dawn chorus, heralding the fulfilment of God’s kingdom, we sing the new song.

Both the Old and New Testament testify of this. Let us go to a Psalm that testifies of the new song we sing.

Psalm 98 Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. The LORD has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations. He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. Sing to the LORD with the harp, With the harp and the sound of a psalm, With trumpets and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully before the LORD, the King. Let the sea roar, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell in it; Let the rivers clap their hands; Let the hills be joyful together before the LORD, For He is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness He shall judge the world, And the peoples with equity.

Here the Psalmist expresses the wonder of the LORD. That is the Eternal One. For He has done marvellous things. The all powerful and holy God personally provided victory for humanity.

The LORD has continually pursued humanity in love. He has shared His heart for reconciliation and made Himself known. The LORD has enable humanity to see into the unseen. For He has revealed Himself to individuals and people groups in ways they can understand.

Through His creation the LORD has shown His love and delight for humanity. The LORD through His Holy Spirit has brought revelation and understanding. God has sent His anointed messengers to speak for Him. The LORD has expressed His heart personally through His word (both spoken and written). Throughout the ages the LORD has made His mighty power known with His intimate journey with humanity. Yet the ultimate visible expression of God and His selfless love is in Jesus. Who being in the form of God, the Son of God, became one of us. Through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, not only did the LORD make His salvation known but He personally became the saviour.

God’s kingdom of justice is fully realised in Jesus. That is His kingdom of equality and respect. As the writer of the Psalm testifies, God’s kingdom has been revealed to all people groups throughout the ages.

Also the Psalmist testifies the  LORD is faithful to His covenant His people. He made a covenant with the house of Israel and was faithful to it. Even though they were not all faithful to Him. But the Psalmist knew the character of God and that God is faithful to His covenant. He is faithful and true.

The LORD is the saviour of all people groups. Yet each individual has free choice. Having seen the salvation of the LORD the writer of the Psalm exhorts, shout joyfully to the LORD. Break forth in song, rejoice and sing praises. All of creation can celebrate that the fullness of reconciliation is coming. For Jesus is coming back to judge the world and eliminate evil, death and selfish desires of humanity. Praise His mighty name!

Yet until then, being part of the dawn chorus we sing the new song. The song unto the one who sits on the throne. So let us join the 24 elders and the four living creatures in singing the new song, heralding in the new dawn.

Revelation 5:8-14 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!” Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
