The Prophecies of the Signs of the Messiah

So today we will look at some of the prophecies of what would be the signs past, present and future of His coming. As the Eternal, Almighty God shares His heart with His prophets, the Ancient Israelites and to us today. As you listen be blessed, empowered and transformed in Jesus name.

Following on from last week, we will continue journeying through some of the Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Christ. 

Last week we discovered the Anointed One of the Eternal Almighty God would right all the wrongs and make everything right once again. He would execute judgment of evil and bring true justice, and peace in the earth. The Anointed One would be holy and gift His righteousness, or rightness to all who receive Him. He would bring His kingdom of equality and respect here on earth. The Anointed One gives His salvation and new life everlasting. He would bring His healing and victory - that is physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. For that is His nature. 

So today we will look at some of the prophecies of what would be the signs of past, present and future of His coming. As the Eternal Almighty God shares His heart with His prophets, the Ancient Israelites and to us today let us begin.

Remembering that the Messiah, the Anointed One will bring with Him both salvation and judgement. Salvation to all who receive Him and accept His right to rule and reign. He will bring His Judgement of evil and all those who reject His right to rule and reign who have aligned themselves with evil. This is what is known as the day of the LORD.

Let us begin with Isaiah 40:3-5 The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the LORD; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

Malachi: 3:1-2 “Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, Will suddenly come to His temple, Even the Messenger of the covenant, In whom you delight. Behold, He is coming,” Says the LORD of hosts. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire And like launderers’ soap.

Malachi 4:5-6 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

One of the signs of the coming of the Anointed One is before Him will be a messenger. One who prepares the way before Him by being a voice in the wilderness. Urging people to change their their hearts and minds and get ready to receive the Eternal Almighty God. Get ready to receive His right to rule and reign in receiving His Anointed One. 

As a result of turning to the Eternal Almighty God and worshipping only Him, the hearts of the fathers will turn to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers. That is in preparing their heart and minds to receive the Anointed One of God they are choosing the Eternal Almighty One. Who brings with Him His kingdom of peace and harmony, honour and respect.

This messenger will come in the spirit of Elijah. He will not be Elijah, but be like Elijah in ministry. That is the messenger will speak boldly with the uncompromising truth, just as Elijah did centuries before. Just as Elijah did, the messenger will also speak against the corrupted leadership of his generation. He will declare only the Eternal Almighty God is worthy of worship. 

The first prophecy of the signs of the Messiah’s coming is: There would be one who would come in the spirit of Elijah, testifying of the Anointed One and preparing the way for His coming.

The Eternal Almighty God continues to share His heart with His prophets, the Ancient Israelites and to all people. To Ahaz the King of Judah, at the time of the southern kingdom of Ancient Israel, the Eternal Almighty God gave king Ahaz a sign. 

Isaiah 7:13-14 Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Often a prophecy can have duel meaning. In this instance the Hebrew word that has been translated as virgin has two meanings. It could mean a woman of a marriageable age therefore referring to Ahaz’s wife or a woman who has not known a man in the way of marriage. A miraculous birth where a son will be conceived, not through the act of a man. This particular son will be called Immanuel, which in the original Hebrew language means the Almighty God who is with us. That is humanity.

The next prophecy of the signs of the Messiah’s coming is: The Anointed One will be born miraculously of a virgin and not of the seed of humanity.

Another prophecy of the sign of the coming of the Anointed One was given to the prophet Zechariah. 

Zechariah 9:9-10 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; The battle bow shall be cut off. He shall speak peace to the nations; His dominion shall be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.’

This prophecy given to Zechariah about the sign of the Anointed One reveals the servant heart of the Eternal Almighty God. The Eternal Almighty God will come and demonstrate that he does not consider His ultimate power to be something for self gain or self glorification. He will come humbly riding on a foal of a donkey. The Anointed One would come in peace bringing His salvation to the ends of the earth. Unlike humanity, the Anointed One will not seize power by force. He will come in all His power and authority, yet in peace disarm the powers of violence, conflict and chaos. For their is no evil in Him. Remember He is the Holy One of Israel, just and true. The Eternal Almighty God would come to serve humanity, to set humanity free. 

The next prophecy of the signs of the Messiah’s coming is: The Anointed One who is the king of all kings will come in humility riding on a colt of a donkey.

After this time of plenty, there shall come to pass an outpouring of the Eternal Almighty God’s spirit upon those of Jewish lineage and to all people. There will be wonders and signs in the cosmic world. These will be signs of the Anointed One’s coming.

Joel 2:28-31 “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.

Both male and female shall be equal. They shall together prophecy of the coming of the Anointed One. Old men shall dream dreams and young men shall see visions. They all will testify of the coming of the Anointed One of Israel. 

Before the day of the LORD which is the fullness of salvation and judgement, there will cosmic signs in the heavens and in the earth. There will be solar and lunar eclipses together with smoke the heavens will appear to be on fire. Even though such occurrences in part have already taken place, what is prophecied here will be visible to all people on a scale never seen before.   

The next prophecy of the signs of the Messiah’s coming is: The Eternal Almighty God will pour out His spirit upon all people. They will testify of the coming of the Anointed One.

To sum up: Some of the signs of the coming of the Messiah, the Anointed One are, that before His coming there would be one who would prepare the way. He will testify of Him and His coming. Another sign of the coming of the Anointed One is He will be born miraculously of a virgin and not of the seed of humanity. He will be the Eternal Almighty God Himself who will be with humanity. Yet another sign of the coming of the Anointed One will be that He will come in humility riding on a colt of a donkey. Another sign of the coming of the Anointed One would be that the Eternal Almighty God will pour out His Spirit upon all people. That is from every tongue and nation they will testify of the Anointed One in their own language. 

There are many more prophecies written in God’s love story the Bible about the Messiah, the Anointed One who is the Christ. There are many signs of His coming. All of them are fulfilled by the Eternal Almighty God, personally and intimately in Jesus. 

Before Jesus started His mission on earth there was the voice crying out in the wilderness, who would testify that Jesus is the Messiah. He was known as John the Batpist.

Let us read Mark 1:1-4 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the Prophets “Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.” “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.’ ” John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 

Verses 7-8 And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

The New Testament of God’s love story the Bible, testifies Jesus is the Anointed One. The Eternal Almighty God, born of a virgin. Not of the human seed, for He is the Eternal Almighty God with us.

Let us read Matthew 1:20-25 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.

Mark 11:7-9 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

After Jesus’ death, resurrection and ascension the Apostle Peter testifies of the outpouring of the Spirit of the Eternal Almighty God. 

Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 

Verses 32-33 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

So today every disciple of Jesus testifies with one the united voice. People get ready for Jesus, the Messiah, the Anointed One is coming back soon! Praise His mighty name.
