Today we will take a look into the future. To the time when we will walk through the doors of eternity. 

According to the eternal God who created the heavens and the earth, the situation will be this. The ultimate final battle has taken place. The empires of evil and all it’s armies are eliminated. 

All those who had given their allegiance to evil throughout the ages are cast into the lake of fire together with evil. For that is the eternity that they have chosen. 

So through the eyes of the Apostle John, let us take a glimpse into the eternity for all those who have said yes to Jesus, yes to God.

Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

This depicts the eternal fusion of the new heaven and the new earth. For all the former things of this world have passed away. The time of old, when evil although defeated still existed has passed. 

For as John declared there will come a time when the eternity of the new of only good exists. 

This eternity of only good is a fusion of the spiritual with the physical and the divine with the mortal. The fusion of heaven and earth is all about being in a perfect love relationship that is in rhythm and harmony with the Lord God Almighty for all eternity. Where we dwell together with our creator in His sanctuary of love. In a place of peace where there is only God, us and only good. This is the new heaven and the new earth.

The word that has been translated as new is linked throughout the new testament writings to the new covenant which is given to humanity in Jesus. Jesus stated many centuries ago that in His coming in human form was the beginning of the new covenant. So in Jesus paying the cost for all the offences ever said thought or done by humanity, the new covenant began. 

Having said yes to Jesus, yes to God in this life journey we spiritually live in the new covenant. In a perfect love relationship with the divine. Yet we live in this world damaged by evil, with inequality and injustices, sorrow, sickness and death.  

But as we look into eternity, there will come a time when the fusion of the spiritual with physical and the divine with the mortal takes place. When the old heaven have passed, the new covenant comes to it’s completion. For there will be a new heaven and a new earth.

All those who have said yes to Jesus, yes to God will be there.

The eternal fusion of heaven and earth is known and experienced in Jesus. 

Let us continue on looking into eternity and read verse 2. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Looking into the completion of the eternal fusion of heaven and earth, there is a new Jerusalem, a holy dwelling for the LORD God Almighty. This is a beautiful word picture to describe all those throughout the ages who have said yes to Jesus, yes to God. Having given their total allegiance to Him, worship only Him.

This description of all those who have said yes to Jesus, yes to God as a bride is using the most intimate relationship language possible. This is depicting a tenderness of being joined together as one. Once again the fusion of spiritual with the physical, the divine with the mortal. 

Let us continue, verse 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

The voice from heaven explains that the dwelling place of the LORD God Almighty is with humanity. With His people. That is all those throughout the ages who have said yes to Jesus, yes to God and give their total allegiance to Him. 

This is For He will be their God and they shall be His people. 

The word that has been translated as tabernacle means a moveable dwelling place. This is a beautiful depiction of the new covenant. 

In this life journey, having said yes to Jesus, yes to God, He tenderly and intimately with His Spirit dwells within us. He tabernacles with us wherever we go. He is always with us in our mortal bodies. This is the spiritual blessing of the new covenant in Jesus. 

However once again as we look into eternity there will come a time when we will dwell not just spiritually but physically with God.

Let us continue, verse 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

This is such a tender moment. In this life journey in time now God reaches down to us and gently comforts. He wipes away the tears, hurt and pain. Yet we still dwell in this world damaged by evil. Where our mortal bodies experience death, sorrow, tears and pain. 

Yet as we look into eternity there will come a time when we will dwell together with God in our eternal bodies. In the eternal fusion of the new heaven and the new earth. With bodies that never get sick, never wear out and never die. There will be no more death, sorrow, crying or pain. For the former things have passed. 

The eternal fusion of heaven and earth is known and experienced spiritually and physically.

Let us continue, verse 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

What is revealed here is the beauty and splendour of the one who sat on the throne. For His character is true and faithful. Every word He speaks, He will bring to pass. The fullness of His kingdom and the fruition of the new covenant is where His will is done. 

He who sat on the throne is the one with ultimate power and authority. That is the Lord God Almighty who created the heavens and the earth. Where God’s right to rule and reign is recognised and His will is done, there is no more crying, no more sorrow, no more death and no more pain. Where evil has no place in the eternal fusion of heaven and earth. 

Let us continue on, verse 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.

So the one who sits on the throne, who is true and faithful said, ‘It is done!’ The Eternal One, who is the beginning and the end, has declared in the pages of our future time, the eternal fusion of heaven and earth. For He is the covenant making, covenant keeping, eternal one who is faithful and true. When He speaks, it is so.

The Eternal One, the Lord God Almighty, is life itself. He gives freely His waters of life everlasting to all who thirst. That is to all who receive Him and His right to rule and reign drink freely of the fountain of His living waters.  

Let us continue on, verse 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

Once again we are reminded that the eternal fusion of heaven and earth is relational. For the Lord God Almighty is a good, good Father. Who personally and intimately gives all of Himself to humanity. All those who receive Him and His right to rule and reign inherit the right of being a child of God. As first born sons inherit all things. 

He who overcomes, that is receives Jesus, receives God and His right to rule and reign receives His victory. That is Jesus’ victory over evil and humanity’s selfish desires. He who overcomes also inherits the perfect love relationship between God the Father and Jesus the Son. 

When Jesus walked the earth as a man, He spiritually remained of one divine will with God. However there was a physical difference of location between God the Father in heaven and Jesus the Son of God who was on the earth.  

For us today, as we live in the world damaged by evil, we have the same relationship of intimacy that Jesus had with the Father when He walked the earth as a man. Spiritually we are as one, yet physically He is in heaven and we are on the earth. 

However as we look into eternity, we will have the same spiritual intimacy, yet closer still. We will inherit the fullness of the relationship between Jesus and the Father. Physically together in the eternal fusion of heaven and earth. 

Let us continue, verse 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

As we look into eternity through the eyes of John, we see a contrast between God’s will and the will of evil. As the will or desire of God reflects His character, He is against fearfulness, so gives His peace. God is against anything that causes unbelief, so gives His faith. He is against anything detestable, so He gives His goodness. God is against killing, so He gives His life everlasting. He is against the destructive negative forces of sexual immorality, therefore He gives His faithfulness and holiness. 

God is against the destructive, negative forces of magic and the worship of anything other than the creator of heaven and earth and all things good. In complete contrast God gives all of Himself including His victory and His faithfulness. God is against the lies and deceptions, so He gives His truth and revelation. 

He does all this because He so loves and desires us to be truly free. So we can choose to live in the fullness of who He is. That is for all eternity live in a covenant relationship of His perfect love. Where in intimacy, honesty and trust in Him, worshipping only Him, we are truly free. In our freedom, His love is fully realised. 

The eternal fusion of heaven and earth reflects the character of the Lord God Almighty.

So to sum up: The eternal fusion of heaven and earth is known and experienced in Jesus. In this life in this world damaged by evil, we know and experience heaven on earth spiritually. Through receiving Jesus, we receive the Father and the precious Holy Spirit. Living in the spiritual reality of intimacy and oneness with the creator of heaven and earth and all things good. 

In future time, the eternal fusion of heaven and earth is known and experienced spiritually and physically. Where we live in the spiritual and physical reality of intimacy and oneness with the creator of heaven and earth and all things good for all eternity. Where evil has no place and there is only good. Every tear has been wiped away. For there is no more death, no more crying, no more sorrow, no more pain. 

The eternal fusion of heaven and earth reflects the character of the Lord God Almighty. For the new heaven and the new earth is an eternity of the fullness of God’s kingdom being realised. His eternal kingdom of true justice which is equality and respect. A place of peace and harmony filled with the joy and delight of the Lord God Almighty. Where the perfect love and goodness of God rules and reigns. 

Until the time of the eternal fusion of heaven and earth, God waits patiently for all who will come to Him to come. In His kindness and gentleness, God continues to reveal the truth. For He is faithful and true. For that is His nature. 

As God said, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
