welcome back to the jb sports podcast. Today is tuesday, january the 17th. We're back for another podcast. If you listen to the podcast for a while, I am not the person that usually does the openings for the pod that we put out, but today, literally on today is Jace's birthday. He's the other co-host of the podcast. If you have not been here before, my brother turns 21 today. He is currently having a good time with his girlfriend dinner and all that. So I told him hey, don't worry about the podcast, today I will go solo, and that is exactly what I'm doing. So if Jace does so happen to listen to this pod I doubt he does Make sure, if he only listens to a little bit. I'll tell him hey, happy birthday, love you, brother, have a great dinner. And that is about it. And he'll be back on the next podcast when we record on Friday.
Speaker 2:I believe.
Speaker 1:So, without further ado, let's go ahead and get right into what. If you're listening right now, what you're here for, hopefully, is sports. Talk about that in the dumbest way possible, so you'll get a little bit less dumb with just me around. But you know, again I'll try my hardest to bring a little bit of funny here, as well as the what is it the recap? What is it the analysis of what I see in the world of sports, at least what I watched, at least Alrighty.
Speaker 1:Then, first thing I wanted to talk about again. I've been talking about Yankees a little bit here and there, because obviously I'm a Yankees fan. We went through the whole World Series thing and all that, juan Soto not signing and him becoming a Met. So I figure I bring up the big moments where the Yankees are making moves. We've already gotten a starting pitcher I believe Fryde Max Fried a starting pitcher to be our number two. Then we brought in a closer, I believe williams um, let me make devin williams one of the better closers in the um in the mlb. We managed to trade for him actually not was it a trade or was it a? Yeah, he was a trade. We traded for him. Definitely a huge closer that we needed in our rotation.
Speaker 1:And then now, with the big deal today, yankees traded for oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. This is Cody Bellinger. I don't know why I try to forget. I literally see his face right here on the screen. I'm going to pull my laptop here. But Yankees traded for Cody Bellinger in exchange for a pitcher, cody Petit, but pretty much is mostly a cash dump by the Cubs, who he traded with them with. They didn't want to pay him anymore for the next two years, which is what the rest of his deal is, and the Yankees needed a guy of his talent. He is a left-handed bat who gives us. That obviously is an obvious replacement for Soto, who was a left-handed bat. He definitely isn't the superstar that Soto is. Soto is an obvious replacement for Soto, who was a left-handed bat. He definitely isn't the superstar that Soto is. Soto is an absolute superstar and deserves all the money he got from the Mets. If it were just a little bit too much for me, I obviously would have liked him to stay at Yankee.
Speaker 1:But, recovering from that, as the Yankee organization, they needed a guy of Bellinger's talents because not only is he a lefty, as I already mentioned, but he can play both first base and he can play center field or he can play left field, so he fits kind of everything. We needed a defender, we needed some good defensive pieces and we needed a guy that can play lefty and he can do practically everything. He may not bring the star power that Soto does the closer factor that Soto does but the fact that we have one guy who can get all of that and not to mention he can play first base, he can play all the holes we potentially have in our defense, he can play and he's a very movable piece. So, with all of that and we didn't have to give up a lot for him which is also another huge thing, because if the Yankees are trying to make any more big moves, they're definitely going to have to trade away some prospects and stuff like that. So the Yankees are in a good spot. They're probably going to trade for another hitter, trade or sign another hitter at some point.
Speaker 1:So to be able to have a lot of your prospects that you already have in your farm system and not have to give those up for a guy like Cody Bellinger is definitely a huge deal. It makes me very happy man because, again, when you lose out on a guy like Soto, it made me very unhappy and upset at the moment, but I think the Yankees are making the most of it. We're adding to the pitching, which is a deficit when we face a team like the Dodgers, where there were some obvious holes in our pitching rotation that we could have, we could help ourselves with, which is what we have done, and they're trying to add to the hitting. Even if you lose to a guy like Soto, try to add guys to get it as close to that type of production as possible is what the Yankees possible, what the Yankees need, and if you can get a little bit defensive upgrade to would definitely be a huge deal. So that's about it. I'm not sitting here following all the MLB moves and stuff like that. I'm not necessarily that crazy about it. But when the Yankees go ahead and make a couple huge deals, like they have been making, I have to mention them because I'm a Yankee diehard and that is about it. So that's about it when it comes to baseball and I will keep mentioning them as they keep making moves. So there's no doubt about that.
Speaker 1:But let me move into out of the baseball world into football world. Let's start with college football again. If, obviously, if you've been following and all that 12 team playoff starts this upcoming weekend, I'm not going to sit here and make a ton of. I don't think I'm going to pick the games yet, because I do want to have Jason around. We're going to record on Friday I'm not sure if we'll get the podcast in before that Friday night game starts with Indiana and Notre Dame but I want to give Jason an opportunity to be able to make his picks and make his kind of what is it? His statements as to how he thinks those games will play out. So I am going to hold off on that. Let me see here.
Speaker 1:But I did have one thing I wanted to really talk about before. Maybe I'll decide to do like, maybe do a few things with college football, but this is the thing I definitely wanted to talk about. There is a scheduling problem maybe not scheduling problem, a calendar problem when it comes to college football right now, because, if you've been following this at all, you have the 12-team playoff which starts this week. You have the transfer portal that just opened up late early, like mid last week, so now there's a lot of things going on all at once. You have, let's just say that, for the teams that are in the college football playoff or getting ready for other, getting ready for, like the bowl game, stuff like that right as as a team, you not only have to worry about retaining the players that you have on your roster, because obviously any player that's on your roster can decide to hey, I want to enter my name the transfer portal and or they want to come to the team you like. Hey, I want to raise in my Nil money, or I will enter my name in or they.
Speaker 1:They kind of splits it out. Some, some players put their name into the portal first and then try to come to the team with trying to make an upgrade in their, in their amount of money they're getting in nil. Some players try to do it internally, without putting their name out there, to make it a bigger deal than what it is. Well, it is a big deal usually if it's a bigger player, but again, to make it to put a freaking microphone on it, that makes makes it known to everybody that there is an il issue, that everybody is kind of open season is definitely not what you need. So you not only have to worry about retaining your own players that you already have on your roster. Again, this is especially for teams that are in the playoff, the teams that are getting ready for the playoff over these last few weeks, that are going to end up playing a game this Saturday.
Speaker 1:They have to worry about retaining the players that are already on their roster so not only can they keep them around for future seasons if they're going to be around and also these teams have to worry about acquisition, which is going to acquire different players that have entered the name of the transfer portal from other teams. That is a future move, kind of like a free agency type of thing, where you go out a lot of players to put their name into the portal. And for teams like ohio state, you're like going in saying, hey, we need offensive line help for next year. We're going to see what guys are in the office, are in the portal, that are offensive linemen that can help us like. So not only you have to worry, worry about acquisition, you have to worry about retention of the players you already have in your roster and want to keep around, if not the players that are asking for more money that probably don't deserve, that are leaving. You then have to worry about acquisition of the players that are going to be here for the future, because obviously you can't bring in a player and have them play for the playoffs. They're more of a next year type of move. And then you also had to worry about heck. The freaking signing day was like two weeks ago as well, so that was something the teams had to worry about.
Speaker 1:So all of this is kind of coming together all at once for these teams that are supposed to be worried about making a playoff run to go win a national championship. Those are all things that these coaching staffs and these, like these athletic departments have to worry about all at one time. But now there's a new wrinkle. Well, there always has been a new wrinkle, but now it's like something you have, like something that's probably even more apparent now that you have so many games potentially left up to four games left for a lot of teams that are in the playoff right now that now those players that potentially on your roster that want to leave, now they have an opportunity to leave your roster altogether and not even participate in the playoff.
Speaker 1:So think about last year when I think that was Texas was getting into the playoff. It was a 14 play. Then you only had two games to worry about. But their backup quarterback I think he was their second or third string, malik Murphy he was a guy that decided, hey, I am going to enter the trans portal and I'm not going to help out this team and I'm going to go ahead and leave, because he cited as the reason was that whatever team you would like to go to because of academic, the academic calendar and stuff like that, it could potentially lessen the amount of opportunities you have if you were not able to transfer and get enrolled by a certain date. So that problem is still happening this year. That is still something that you have to worry about.
Speaker 1:Again. Maybe, like academic standards can be changed a little bit for this unforeseen type of circumstance, for this stuff. But again, nobody's really said that and it's a school-by-school basis, so who knows what all that is going to be? But now you have so many more games to worry about. So this is the situation that really brought this up for me.
Speaker 1:That makes me really care about this is that Bo Pribula is the backup quarterback for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Again, they're going to be playing this weekend. I think they're playing against SMU on Saturday. He is their backup quarterback. He is and not only is he just the backup that's holding the clipboard, he has been helped playing for them. This year. They have been using him as a as a running quarterback to kind of change up their offense a little bit when they need a little bit of a spark. He's been doing that all this year. He's gotten plenty of snaps for them. He has been a priority in this offense to help them throughout this season and obviously they would like to be able to use him throughout the rest of the playoff right, obviously going into it.
Speaker 1:Not that Drew Allard can do all of those things too, but I think Pribula just gives you a little bit more athletic of a piece, to where he gets a little more dynamic running the football in comparison to a guy like Drew Allard who is a little bit more of a big arm type of guy. But he can make some athletic plays. He's just not as athletic as the backup Pribula is. So he decided hey, I'm going to enter my domain name in the transfer portal and I'm going to enter my domain name in the transfer portal and I'm not going to be able to be a part of it. Because obviously all these players have an option, even if they enter the name in the transfer portal, to potentially stay with the team through that process and stick with them until the end of the season. Again, it's not only a player decision but it also is a team decision, because there's been coaches out there that have said, hey, if you enter the portal, I don't want you on the team, so don't even ask. And obviously to a certain extent we don't know if James Franklin, the head coach of Penn State, has that same type of mentality about it. So if Pribula, so even if, potentially, pribula wanted to stay with the team throughout the rest of the playoffs, if James Franklin were to say, hey, if you're not all the way in, I don't want you on the team Again, nobody's really going to say whether that's the case or not, but who knows? But that is a decision both for the player and for the school separately to make that decision. If the school is more than willing to let the player stick on and go ahead and keep helping the team, as they're still kind of having their name name out there, looking for other opportunities for their own future, that is definitely a possibility.
Speaker 1:Uh, kenny dillingham I believe the coach, head coach for arizona state, who was also in the playoff has made it very clear what his, what his uh situation, what his uh plans are when it comes to players that want to enter the trans portal and potentially see other opportunities. He said I'm more than happy to let you do so, um, and honestly, if you want to stay with the team, we'll be more than happy to keep you around and help us like try to end this journey the right way, like he's been very cool about. He's like I'll help them, I will do everything necessary and as long as they keep doing what they're supposed to do with us, I'm more than happy to help them try to find out a different, different options for the rest of their futures in college football. That is what he has decided to make a very big statement on that and it's a two-way street. When it comes to how he's handling it, again, we don't know how Penn State's doing it. Maybe James Franklin's more than happy to do so, but maybe the player has.
Speaker 1:Because here's the thing when it comes to the players and entering the name of the portal and all that, there also is another dynamic here is that the teams they are going to right. So if you're a player of a certain caliber, like obviously, if you're a five-star and you're like one of the best players in college football and like you're transferring, I have no doubt there are teams that are going to be willing to. Even with the academic calendar potentially being an issue, they will find a way to make it happen. If they really want you, that bad okay. But if you're a player that's putting your name out there on the portal and you're not necessarily a guy that everybody wants, you lose a little bit of leverage there and so, whatever team you potentially would like to go to, you're not only asking them for NIL money, but there is something that they would ask for too, and that's probably that they would like you on campus sooner rather than later so that you probably, potentially you could help a bowl practice and stuff like that. But like they would like to have their kind of their guys are bringing in handled sooner rather than later. So and not to mention, sometimes they want to just hurt the team you're coming from right, because there's players that like move teams within conferences and, uh, the team you're going to would be more than happy to ruin that team, potential team's chances of recognizing their goals for the end of the season. So the players, the teams that these players potentially be going to have to also acquiesce to. If those teams are like, hey, we're willing to pay you, we're willing to bring you in, but you have to come and you can't, like you have to keep coming, we're not going to let you just sit there and keep playing for that team and then just take you whenever you're ready, right, so they definitely have an opportunity to speed up that process and keep a player from being able to maybe end out the rest of the season if they're a playoff team, the right way that, the way they potentially would want to again. Who knows what the situation is.
Speaker 1:The play the book, when his statement came out, have pretty much stated that it's mostly because the calendar, which is why he's making his decision, but it just sucks because heck. As much as I don't want to see Penn State succeed whatsoever, I would like to see them lose in the first round and don't do anything in the playoff. I have to understand the fact that it does suck when you have a guy on your roster that you've counted on throughout most of the season to be a part of your offense, be the kind of gadget guy, more than just a gadget guy. He's been in there plenty of snaps, they're relying on him and then now he is leaving at a time where potentially they could use him. Not to mention he's a second string quarterback. So if their guy, their main guy, their head guy, drew Allard, goes out, you have to have a second string quarterback to come in, and now you're not going to have a guy for potentially up to four games you'd have to play to get through the whole playoff and win a national championship. So that is something that they're not going to have for the rest of this playoff run that they had beforehand. So it definitely hurts them in a way that it does suck to see.
Speaker 1:And for the player, I understand the player's decisions. I'm not going to sit here and talk bad about them because who knows what they're being told and what they have to do in order to get themselves into a better spot for the rest of their futures when it comes to their own football playing careers. So I'm not going to sit there and blame them. But players are making different decisions and you have to kind of sit, kind of be okay with whatever they decide to do.
Speaker 1:Again, and by comparison, devin Brown, backup quarterback for Ohio State. He has entered his name to the transfer portal, but he has made an opposite decision and decided hey, I want to stick with this team throughout the rest of this playoff run and I will do both at the same time. I will keep doing my thing, being the backup quarterback here and being ready to go if I am called upon, but I also want to put my name out there and potentially find other avenues for the rest of my college football playing career and, honestly, that is the best case scenario for a team that's in the playoff, that has a player that is very good for depth and that potentially could be a big deal if a player does go down, or if a player, or if it's a starter at some point, a starter in some way, that you would like for them to be able to do both. And Devin Brown has decided to do it a different way. Maybe he, maybe he doesn't matter, it doesn't matter to him whether it potentially would take him out of other opportunities by sticking around for the rest of the playoff run, but he decided to do so. I think it works out for both sides that I think everybody can gain something from that situation. So it goes both ways.
Speaker 1:But again, all this wouldn't necessarily be a thing if college football kind of got their their whole calendar sorted out to a certain extent to be able to not have all of these things coincide all at once, happening all at once. So in the nfl, the way they have it, you have your free agency period, you have the draft period, you have the, you have the trade deadline. Like you have all of these things that happen. They don't all happen at the same time they're happening in their own windows. So it gives a team, all their teams in the nfl, a chance to do everything with all the um, all the effort in the study that they possibly can have.
Speaker 1:And I feel like if Coswell can get a little bit closer to doing something like that, it would help out all the teams involved and it wouldn't necessarily do as much hurting when it comes to not only the teams that are trying to make playoff runs to go win a national championship, but potentially for the players that are on these teams that want to just find potential new opportunities for themselves, maybe not only monetarily but when it comes to their own playing time and their own playing career. So there are a lot of people involved, there are a lot of players involved and I feel like if they change the calendar around a bit, they could potentially help out everybody and it would be no negatives to it I think it would just only be positives that they decided to change up the calendar a little bit to kind of help everybody out. But again, that's not happening. So this is something that a lot of the teams in the playoff, all the teams in the playoff, are dealing with and it just sucks for everybody because you only have so many hours in a day. Right and honestly, with how long this has gone, I'm not going to sit here and talk about too much more when it comes to college football, so I'm going to go ahead and finish out this statement and then go on the NFL stuff.
Speaker 1:But with how people are wired right, we're not robots here, and as much as fans of teams and look at everybody on TV and say, hey, just play football and be good doing it those players, those coaches, these universities, these what is it? Why am I forgetting the name of it? Athletic departments only have but so many people and but so many hours in the day, so you only can put your time in so many buckets all at the same time and be able to do it all efficiently. And I think having so many buckets for a guy like Ryan Day and the, for the coaching staff and for the players to have to put their put their their focus and their time into is going to leave something short, and I feel like the fact that they all this is happening all at once, you're not going to get the best version of anything when it comes to the players, when it comes to the coaches, when it comes to the universities, when it comes to all of it, right, you're not going to get the best version of those when they have to go, potentially, go play for a championship on the line, or when they're trying to go get a transfer for the next season over. They're not going to be able to put all of their effort into any one of these certain buckets. So everything suffers.
Speaker 1:And when I'm looking at it as an Ohio State fan, ohio State has plenty of issues going on right now. We have to retain the players we already have. We have Ryan Day, potentially worried about his job. We're trying to keep the players that are on our roster that aren't going to the league, so we have to keep them on our roster, make sure they don't go to other teams. And then we have to worry about hey, we have some offensive line issues coming into next year, so we have to go bring in a transfer offensive lineman to help us for next year. So with all that happening all at once, you just can't put all of your effort into all of those things all at the same time. And I get it. This is a team like Ohio State. They have everything of everything. They have so much money, they have so much staff, they have everything they possibly could have, but it's still never enough. Because there's more issues popping up every single day.
Speaker 1:And when I'm worried about this Ohio State team going on with a national championship, the idea of Ryan Day having to spend some time to go talk to a transfer that may not help, that won't be able to help us until next year, or him have to having to deal with a player that's already on the roster wanting to make it his time to sit there and say, hey, I need more money, or I'm leaving and help and leave you guys in the duck, leaving you guys high and dry for the playoff run, like that's the stuff that annoys me. But like for a team I happen to worry about, obviously, if, looking at it for another team, I would love for tennessee's nico, like their quarterback, to have it in ilsu, not play, but again, that's it's an issue that sucks for everybody and I have and I have some compassion for all of that. So I just think, with as badly as college football has kind of set up the calendar as how things are working right now, that needs to change because it's only putting everybody in a worse position. You're not getting the best of what these universities, these players and these coaches can offer when it's time for game day, because they have so many things they have to put their minds towards and that's it, and it's just a sucky situation.
Speaker 1:Wish it hasn't happened, but again, at the same time, wish nothing for the best for the players that are trying to build themselves some new opportunities. It sucks that potentially, these players can go in and just say, hey, I just want more money and I'm going to hold the university, the, the coaching staff, hostage for for that money, or I'm just going to leave. If that's the case, it sucks, and it sucks that anybody has to deal with that. If that's the case, it sucks and it sucks that anybody has to deal with that. And I, I poo-poo on those players that are deciding to um, potentially put their own teams at risk that way. But again, I I can't tell what these players intentions are. Maybe they're all just um, some of them are just trying to find new opportunities for themselves, for their own playing futures and all that like that, their own development, like those things are happening too. So it's hard, you're hard, to deal with it by case by case basis, but there's too much of everything and I feel like if they just change, change it up a bit uh, loosen, tie some loose ends they can make it a lot better process for everybody and that's, that's my biggest takeaway there
Speaker 1:so with me, having talked like over 20 minutes about the transport and all that, I'm not going to sit here and go into too much. When it comes to the other college football stuff, I'll hold off until Friday when Jace is here, so we can make our overall, like bigger statements as to, like matchups, who he thinks to win those games, and all of that. I'll wait till Jace is here on Friday when we do the next pod, to talk about all that and I will go straight into NFL stuff to try to have this podcast not be all that long. So let me see, is there any news I want to talk about here? I didn't have anything in particular. So that's about it. For college football, let's go ahead and go on the NFL stuff. So that's about it for college football. Let's go ahead and go on the NFL stuff. Crazy weekend of NFL games this past week, this Saturday, this Thursday Saturday I mean talking about Thursday games, so Sunday and then the Monday games last night. So there's plenty of that to talk about. Let's see. Is there any other big news that I had to talk about right now? I don't think so. Okay, so let's go ahead and start talking about the games that happened this past Sunday and last night, monday night, and uh, talk about those as we go and uh give the scores and just give my general recap on that kind of stuff. So kind of go through each game, have, have my thoughts and then I think, oh, the Thursday night game, I forgot I have to text Jason and get his pick on that. I forget what the the game is this Thursday. Let's see, I'll have to text him and potentially get his pick. Hopefully I'll have it before the podcast is over so I can say what his pick is Broncos and Chargers On Thursday Pick a winner. Sorry about that. Hopefully I have his pick. So when it's time to make that pick for the Thursday night game, I'll be ready to go. So let's start with the first game I want to talk about here Chiefs-Browns. Chiefs win the game 21-7.
Speaker 1:This game got out of hand pretty quickly. It felt like the Chiefs kind of had this game in hand for a very good portion of this game. It wasn't like Mahomes had a crazy great day 19 of 38, 159 yards, two touchdowns, zero picks Wasn't a very explosive day. The Cleveland-Browns defense actually played decently well even with all the time. They really spent a lot of time on the field. So the fact that their defense did as well as they did in those bad spots it just sucks for them Didn't get any help by their own quarterback. But the Chiefs ran football well, had 132 yards total rushing and a touchdown with their. Xavier Worthy had a rushing touchdown in this game. Xavier Worthy was the leading receiver six receptions, 46 yards. Hopkins had five catches 36 yards. Kelsey had another 27 yards off four catches. It was, I think Noah Gray had a decent game. Noah Gray had a touchdown with two receptions, 21 yards and Juju Smith-Suster also had a touchdown Blast from the past former Pittsburgh Steelers player. But that's about it for the Kansas City side.
Speaker 1:I think that more of the story on this is like not that, oh, mahomes did have an injury in this game so he has a high ankle sprain coming out of this game. I think it was in like the third, I think it was like the fourth quarter. He was in the pocket running for his life again because his tackles suck. He was running for his life. This whole game Makes a move, tries to jump up, make a pass. He ends up getting tackled with his feet under a defensive player. So he ends up having a high ankle sprain. He was hobbling off the field, didn't play the rest of the game.
Speaker 1:Carson Wentz had to come in and kind of manage the rest of the game. Again, they already had a nice lead, so it wasn't necessarily something they had to worry about. It wasn't necessarily a safe lead, right, because Cleveland was 21-7. It was only a 14-point game. Cleveland could have came back into it, but the way Jameis was playing it was no chance. So it was pretty much, even though it wasn't a safe lead. With the way the Browns were playing offensively, it was a safe lead, even if numbers-wise it wasn't. So Carson Wentz came in, handled the offense well and he only had to throw two passes. It wasn't like he did anything amazing.
Speaker 1:But I think the question is whether he will have to be the starter for them going into next week. I forget who they play, but if Carson does have to play for them as a starting quarterback this upcoming Sunday again, it hasn't been decided whether that's going to be the case or not, but who knows how that's going to go. I think the Patrick Mahomes, their main thing is to make sure he is healthy enough because they're going to make the playoffs, no matter what, probably have a one seed. So lock down the one seed in the bye. Make the playoffs, and they already make the playoffs. Lock down the one seed in the bye. Make the playoffs, and they already make the playoffs. Lock down the one seed in the bye and make a run towards a three-peat. So that's their biggest deal. If Patrick Williams is healthy, they'll be well on the way towards that. If not, it definitely throws a monkey wrench into their whole season.
Speaker 1:Other side, james was awful 16-25, 146 yards, zero touchdowns, three picks I'm talking. The picks were awful. They were so bad. He ended up getting benched in this game for DTR Dorian Thompson Robinson. He came in, was four of nine, 18 yards and interception he threw an interception as well. I just feel like after a certain point the Brown just had to make a statement with how bad Jameis was playing. He was just making some awful interceptions again. He's been doing that all year. I just feel like at a certain point he was so bad in this game against Kansas City.
Speaker 1:The Browns had to show their defense and the rest of their team something that they're not going to sit there and just let it keep happening because of how bad it's been with Jameis. So they made the move, threw in DTR. It didn't really change anything for this game. I don't think he's going to end up playing for that. I think DTR is going to end up being the starter for next game too. So I feel like the Jameis Winston experiment is kind of over.
Speaker 1:It's been fun at points, but I think even with a team that has sucked as bad as the Cleveland Browns has, I don't think they can sit there and look at their own team and their own fans and just let Jameis keep playing as badly as he has and just say, hey, he's our best opportunity to win. I think they just had to make an example of him, even if their season was going to be bad, no matter who was going to be the starting quarterback for this team. So you know, it just sucks because they had an opportunity to win this game against the Chiefs, because their defense was playing actually decently. But it's just their offense was so awful, led by Jameis, that they just had no opportunity to. Not to mention, nick Chubb ended up leaving this game. I think they said he had a broken foot, so he's going to be out for the rest of the season. He's going to be on another long trek to try to get back onto the football field and they're going to support him for that because Nick Chubb, let's be honest, is the Browns. The Browns, like he, is their most recognizable face. He's their guy, they've paid him, so he's. They're gonna put all their efforts behind him and it just sucks that he has another injury. That ends him. That ends the rest of his season.
Speaker 1:But outside of that, like drum for it had a very good game seven carries, 84 yards on a touchdown. But other than that they just didn't have a like. Jg had a good game 11 receptions, 108 yards. But it's just as bad asameis was playing. They were just in a hole from the start. They weren't going to be able to dig themselves out of, especially against a Chiefs team that has been here, done that championship worthy. That's just a team they have to deal with. Didn't have an opportunity to really make hay on that after Jameis made so many mistakes. Take a drink here. Sorry, getting him to dry mouth. Pause.
Speaker 1:Next game Bengals-Titans. Bengals win the game 37-27. Joe Burrow another great outing 26-37. 271 yards and three touchdowns. Also had two picks and he had a couple fumbles too. Definitely wasn't as efficient. Obviously the interceptions doesn't help, but again, they rely on him so much to do what he has to do. Like mistakes are going to happen and you really can't blame him for those, um, and his offensive line isn't really protecting him right now. So, like, like, to a certain extent, all of those things are happening all at once and it sucks that it's happening. But even still they're winning this game. They won the game pretty convincingly, even though their defense, even with Will Levis' mistakes, they just like they still were able to get in this game and like make it close with how bad the Bengals' defense has been.
Speaker 1:But let me talk about the rest of the Bengals team, though. Chase Brown had a decent day 25 carries, 97 yards and a touchdown. Jamar Chase 9 receptions, 94 yards, no touchdowns this time, crazy enough. Tee Higgins 5 receptions, 88 yards and a touchdown. Chase Brown had a touchdown reception off of 3 receptions, 16 yards. And Sam Hubbard, the defensive end for them, also came in as a gadget guy as a tight end for them in this game. He got a touchdown catch. That was a very cool play to watch, especially since he's a Buckeye. I love to see stuff like that happen for Buckeyes in the NFL.
Speaker 1:Joe Burrow had a fumble lost Jordan Battle. There was a pick that he had that. It was a pick. He was running down the field, looked like it was going to be a pick six. He ended up fumbling it before he went into the end zone. I don't think it was necessarily because he was like trying to celebrate too early, but he was like he was trying to like uh, actually, no, it was. That one was a trance, like like trying to celebrate, he ends up up dropping the ball. Actually, no, he just fumbled it. He was trying to change hands or something like that. He ends up going out of the back of the end zone, went from being a potential pick six to now getting the Tennessee getting the ball back as a touchback. So that definitely was huge for them to not have that, because that's another touchdown they lost. That could have put this game more out of reach, so they wouldn't necessarily have to work as hard as they did to have a 10-point win. But outside of that, the Bengals had a pretty decent day, outside of the few Joe Burrow mistakes and that fumble right before the end zone.
Speaker 1:But again, will Levis did not help his team. In this game he was 8-12, 89 yards, three picks, will Levis at a point now where he's awful. He's been awful. I've been talking about him being awful since before he got drafted. He was at Kentucky and was awful.
Speaker 1:I don't think I've been more right about any player in my whole life watching football, especially watching them from college to the NFL. I have been on this this whole time. There has been nothing that has changed my mind on this. I have stayed consistent. The guy that likes mayo in his coffee was never going to be a guy in the NFL Again. That's not really the reason, but that's like the little cherry on top amongst all the other reasons. From watching him in college football and seeing that this is an issue, there's no way he's going to really take a team and go win in the NFL. All of those reasons. I have stuck true to that and he has proved it out to be the case. He's not going to be the starter for them going into next week.
Speaker 1:I think the way this season has gone for them, I think he is done as an NFL player, but at least at least as a starter, if he wants to live out the rest of his career as a backup and make plenty of money doing it. He definitely probably for sure can. The NFL teams love to keep recycling quarterbacks that can't be starters and have them be backups. So that's definitely an opportunity for him. But I think he's done as a starter for the Tennessee Titans and I think think they're probably going to be get rid of him after this year, probably draft a new quarterback going into the next season in the draft. So, all that being the case, I think this is probably one of those times where I have been right. I've seen him from college and I'm very happy that I've stuck to my belief system on this is that he's he's never was an NFL quarterback and he's only proved that to be true. Mason, he never was an NFL quarterback and he's only proved that to be true.
Speaker 1:Mason Rudolph, when he did come in, played decently well 21-26, 209 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. But again, the way he was able to play did give Tennessee an opportunity to come back in this game and kind of play tough, make it a little bit closer at the end than it probably should have been. He knows how to at least run an offense and not make a bunch of terrible mistakes, like Will Levis has, and I think he did that. He had the one pick. But other than that he played decently well. Tony Pollard played well 17 carries, 45 yards on a touchdown. Tajay Spears had a touchdown for them in this game. A lot of pass catchers had like decent amount of catches in this game, like.
Speaker 1:So, with all that, like the Bengals, this, I think more than anything it shows how bad this Bengals defense truly is.
Speaker 1:Even with all the mistakes that they had, the Bengals were just letting. They were leaky. Tajay Spears was the leading receiver in this game six receptions, 87 yards and a touchdown. Uh, like a lot of guys got a lot of balls. They were able to get some yardage out of it because of how bad the Bengals secondary is, and so I just think the the Bengals offense is so high power they're going to keep winning football games. But again, that defense is so bad that it just, even if the Bengals get into the playoffs, like as scary as Joe Burrow and that offense can be, that defense is just as scary and potentially can work the other way for that team. So I don't know, give Joe Burrow one game against the Paxman Homes, against the Josh Allen. Anything can happen, but I just think that defense is such a negative. I just don't know how Even if they do get into the playoffs how that's going to work, and there's nothing good about how this team plays, wow what's he doing?
Speaker 2:Hello, davis Sports Podcast. I've been busy. Things have been happening. I came in on a good moment. We're talking about the Titans game. Joe Burrow played elite. He was not happy with the win. I don't know if you saw that voiceover afterwards. If you saw him, he said it's fucking embarrassing With how they played. He said we should have beat this team by fucking. And then it goes off. Joe Burrow expects more of himself, but not just of himself, of his team. I think that's what makes him such a great player. Jamar Chase does, but Jamar Chase does. T Higgins also got his, and then Mike Isecki and Chase Brown did their thing. Chase Brown is kind of. He has formed himself as a number one. I think going into next year he's going to continue to be our number one. Will Levis man he's not the guy.
Speaker 2:I could tell you by the end of the first quarter they were looking at him and like get him the fuck out of here. He was bad. Mason Rudolph was no better. Tajay Spears was okay, but again not amazing. And then Pollard did nothing, just nothing.
Speaker 1:He was okay, yeah, but still. And J jace, in jace's fashion, just came up and, you know, barged in on the podcast even though he's not supposed to be here. It's his birthday and all, but he had a little bit of time between going from dinner going to a movie. He gave me a piece of the steak that he had at his dinner. It was good, but you know, it wasn't seasoned Like. It was a very good cut of steak. The steak melted in my mouth but there's not a lot of flavor to it. The salt and pepper would have made a huge difference, but again, with how much he paid for it, I would have liked for it to be seasoned a little better, but a very good cut of steak Melts in my mouth like butter, like it was awesome. But uh, you're gonna go see a movie now. So that was about it, about it. We're gonna see if jace at least for this podcast. And it was just like he said. It's funny enough how he showed up right when I was talking about the bangles. But uh, back to the regularly scheduled program with just me being here. So, uh, don't talk about the bangles game, let's go in on the next one here.
Speaker 1:Commander, saints Commanders won the game 2019. This game started out but it felt like the Commanders are going to be able to run away with this one. But in the second half they got 14. It was 14, nothing. At halftime it felt like this Commanders were gonna, you know, pretty much waltz their way into a very comfortable win. But in the second half the Commanders were going to pretty much waltz their way into a very comfortable win. But in the second half the commanders were unable to get into the reds. They were unable to get into the end zone. They got a couple field goals in the third and fourth quarter, but it just kind of gave the Saints just enough to kind of jump back into this game.
Speaker 1:They started this game with Jay Kaner. He didn't play all that well, so they ended up bringing out Spencer Rattler. Again, he didn't have a great day. He went 10-21, 135 yards on a touchdown. But, along with the Saints defense kind of playing a little bit tougher in the second half, with Washington Struggles getting into the end zone, it gave the Saints a good enough chance to get back into this game. They ended up scoring a touchdown literally as time expired to go. They were down 20-19. Rather than hitting the extra point to go to overtime.
Speaker 1:The Saints being a 5, what was at the time would have been 5-8 football team, they just decided to make the bold move and try to go for the win. Uh, they went for, went for two. It looked like they had a play there, like there was. It was a play out to the outside, I believe, to one of their, their tight end, and he ended up. He ended up just overthrowing him by just a bit. But if the play was there, they dismissed by a little bit. And now that's the difference between winning and losing.
Speaker 1:Sometimes washington played well in the like like again. It's just Washington has times where they look very explosive. They're good, they're very good. Jane Daniels 25 to 31 in this game 226 yards, two touchdowns, zero picks. Didn't make a bad mistake at all, it just felt like they cooled off in the second half. They weren't as efficient as they were in the first half. Jane Daniels carries 66 yards. Brian Robinson Jr had 65 yards off 21 carries. They had like 137 yards total rushing. Terry McLaurin seven receptions, 73 yards, two touchdowns. He was very good in this game. So if Washington would have kept their foot on the gas in the second half, this game didn't have to be nearly as close and come down to the last second like it did. But again, it's how the NFL goes. The other guys are paid too, and when they brought in Spencer Rattler, he kind of was the spark that they needed. He made enough plays to make this game pretty close and had a chance to win it at the end. So that's all you can ask for. It probably didn't help. They lost Alvin Kamara in the middle of this game. He had like one very huge catch, one touchdown catch in this game, so it was awesome for him to get that one, but he ended up leaving with an injury. So that probably didn't help their chances as the game waned on. But it's not like the Saints are a bad team, it's just they're missing some big guys. Again, why am I forgetting his name now? Derek Carr is hurt. They don't have Chris Olave. They're missing some big guys that they, like we're counting on this year. So but again, they made this game very tough. It was a closer game that probably should have been in a credit to the Saints for taking advantage of the moment having a chance to win it at the end.
Speaker 1:Next game Ravens Giants. Ravens absolutely destroy the Giants without much of an issue. I was saying this on the last pod coming into this game that the Ravens coming off a bye they would have an absolutely awesome offensive game plan. Lamar Jackson would be great, which he absolutely was 21 to 25, 290 yards and five touchdowns. Lamar Jackson was totally efficient. It was awesome. It was a great, great game. But again it was against a Giants team. That isn't good. They have a good pass rush but their secondary isn't great Like this team. Like this Giants team is 2-12 for a reason. But again I said this would happen. The Ravens have an awesome game. People are looking at the Ravens again saying they can be scary. I think some people are.
Speaker 1:I think a good portion of the media is not giving the Ravens too much credit for this one because again it's hard to the Giants have two wins on the season for a reason, but they did it. Lamar Jackson had an awesome game. Derrick Henry 14 carry, 67 yards. Didn't necessarily have the monster game, but again Lamar kind of took had, took all the oxygen out of the room on that one. Rashad Bateman three, three receptions, 80 yards, two touchdowns. He was very efficient. Justice Hill had a touchdown reception, mark Andrews had a touchdown reception, devontae Walker had a touchdown reception, so, like they were throwing the football like crazy. Very efficient, played well against a bad Giants defense, and that's exactly how they should treat a team that isn't anywhere near the team that they are. And so give the Ravens credit for for that one. But I'm not going to sit here and say that the Ravens are, you know, a contender, like sorry, they are a contender, but they are not, in my opinion, the Chiefs or the Bills, or is that pretty much it in the AFC? To be totally honest with you, like again, the Ravens have to play the Steelers this week, so who knows how that goes. The Steelers win that game, steelers win the division and they end up guaranteeing a top-four seed and the Ravens are in as a wild card. So who knows how that's going to go. But it's hard for me to call the Ravens an elite team with some of the issues they have defensively. But that offense is very good when Lamar is on. It's that they're a very hard team to stop.
Speaker 1:Next game Cowboys Panthers. Cowboys win the game 30 to 14. Uh, the Cowboys treated this team like they should have. Bryce Young had a little bit of regression. He didn't play as well as he has been in prior weeks. But I think this was less about Bryce Young not playing well. I think it was more about the Cowboys, even with the injuries that they have, not having Dak Prescott uh, not having. Oh, what is it? Is the Dak Prescott missing an offensive lineman like? This Cowboys team is a much more talented team than Carolina and that's what this team game that's what this game came down to, even with the Panthers like ended up being favored coming to this game. I think it was more about how Dallas has had some really bad losses coming into this game, but again, cowboys took all their frustrations out on this Panthers team. Uh, dowboys played the sorry, I said the Dowboys. The Dallas Cowboys played like they were the superior team and took advantage of that Bryce Young didn't like. Bryce didn't have some mistakes there. He had a couple picks he probably shouldn't have had.
Speaker 1:You have Cooper Rush playing a very clean, efficient game 18-29, 214 yards, three touchdowns, zero picks. Rico Dodle, the running back for them, played absolutely awesome. He had 25 carries for 149 yards. He was absolutely awesome for them. He's really turned out to be their number one back and played very well for them. Ceedee Lamb had a CeeDee Lamb type game Nine receptions, 116 yards and a touchdown. He was like the main guy. But Jalen Brooks had a touchdown reception, jalen Tolbert had a touchdown reception.
Speaker 1:This Panthers defense was definitely a big is definitely a big question mark for them. They don't have much of a pass rush for secondaries and all that great and the Cowboys took advantage of that and they managed to win very convincingly for it. But again, doesn't change my feelings on Bryce Young. He had a little bit of regression and how he's been over the last few weeks. But that happens in the NFL is he didn't really have much of a shot against a much more talented team. Especially that Dallas defense with that pass rush, that offensive line just didn't, does not have a shot to face. You know guys like Micah Parsons. I think Micah Parsons went absolutely off in this game. I think he had like a couple sacks. He had two sacks, two tackles for loss. So like when you have to face a guy like that and they're not able to really run the football like they probably want to, if they were able to run the football effectively against this Dallas defense they would probably keep their defensive line at bay a little bit, but they can't, and Michael Parsons kind of teed off on him and he had a very good day. With that being the case, bryce Young didn't have much of a shot to really win this football game.
Speaker 1:Next game Jets-Jags. Jets won the game 32-25. The way this game was looking early it felt like the Jets should have won this game by a lot more. But you know, the defense made some big plays there at the end of the game but they kind of let the Jacksonville Jaguars kind of stay in it. Mack Jones didn't play terribly. He was 31-46, 294 yards, two touchdowns, two picks. They were able to run the football effectively. I think they had 136 yards. Total rushing between Travis, etienne, tank, bigsby and Mac Jones. Brian Robinson Jr was a big receiver for them in this game. Like they really could not stop him whatsoever. He had 10 receptions, 105 yards, two touchdowns. Brenton Strange, their tight end, had 73 yards off, 11 receptions Like. Other than that, like this game should not have been as close as it was, especially with, uh, the jets having some like they're much more talented than the jags are right now. But brian domas jr did his thing. Mac jones played okay, didn't had a couple mistakes there, but he managed to play well outside of those two.
Speaker 1:Offensively, the Jets weren't bad in this game. Aaron Rodgers had a vintage performance 16 of 30, 289 yards, three touchdowns, zero picks. It's funny enough, aaron Rodgers was the leading rusher in this game as well, which is crazy when you have Brees Hall on your team. Aaron Rodgers had six carries, 45 yards. Brees Hall only had 30 yards off, nine carries and a touchdown. Devontae Adams had a vintage Devontae Adams type of game. He had nine receptions, 198 yards and two touchdowns. Like he was absolutely eating in this game. The Jags really had no chance of stopping him.
Speaker 1:Garrett Wilson three receptions, 56 yards and a touchdown. You could tell he was visibly frustrated in this game, like looking to try to get more production out of himself and out of the offense. Like there was a point where he was in the red zone. After their red zone trip he's like, hey, if I want to want to throw it to me like that, I feel like the Garrett Wilson wants so badly not only to win but to be more productive than he's been throughout his young NFL career. That's something that's going to happen when you have a guy like Aaron Rodgers out there. You feel like you should be able to. If hey, just let him give you opportunities to go out there and catch the football and it's going to happen. But it hasn't happened up to this point. Aaron Rodgers, for the most point, has been most part has been bad this year and these last two games.
Speaker 1:Like Garrett Wilson, I could see why Garrett Wilson would be more desperate when Aaron Rodgers is playing well, to get more opportunity, especially when Devontae Adams had almost 200 yards receiving and nine receptions. I can see how Garrett Wells can be a little more frustrated only getting three receptions and 56 yards. So, that being the case, again, the Jets did exactly what they were supposed to do in this game. They won. This game shouldn't have been as close as it was, but you know, at the end of the day, this Jets team is a now 4-10 team for a reason they're not necessarily coach all that great and they are not a great team. So, with all that being the case, it's kind of hard to really expect too much of this Jets team. But it just sucks to see with Aaron Rodgers now having another good game under his belt. You would think if he put a whole season of that together. This Jets team could be in a totally different spot at this point in the season, other than watching their season go down the drain a long time ago and not even close to making the playoffs. But that's how it goes sometimes in the NFL.
Speaker 1:Next game Texans-Dolphins Texans win the game 20-12. Nico Collins two touchdown receptions. He was absolutely awesome in this game. What was it? Nico Collins four receptions, 17 yards, two touchdowns. This Houston offense is um confusing to me.
Speaker 1:Off of last year, cj Stroud tore up the league. It was awesome, like he like. So throughout this year, from what I've noticed, like it's been I've talked about this plenty of times in this podcast CJ has just been not protected whatsoever and he's running for his life. He was sacked four times in this game and it just felt like CJ was able to do enough to win this game and I think, coming out of the bye, he made a concerted effort to not put the football in harm's way. He threw no picks in this game. He did exactly what he was supposed to do and they made enough plays to win this game, but with and they made enough plays to win this game, but with the issues that their offensive line is giving them right now. It totally limits their offense in the biggest of ways and it's like you could tell cj doesn't trust it all that much.
Speaker 1:Like you could tell he's like very antsy, he's not as clean and like it's almost like you could see like last year he was so clear like if you watch him play last year he was just of clear mind all the time. He was making quick decisions, getting the football out on time, on target and everything. You could just tell he was a clear mind when he was playing. But this year, with all the issues his offensive line has given him, you can tell it's just his mind is like cloudy, like everything. Like again he's running for his life most of the time. Like those four sacks should have been a lot more than that with how much he had to run around and get away from pressure. So you could just tell like he is playing with a lot more. He doesn't. He isn't able to play clear. He has to worry about getting attacked all the time from the defensive line and getting guys coming after him.
Speaker 1:You can just tell he's not playing the game he would like to play and I think the offense struggles because of that. But again, I don't think it's necessarily because of him. I think it's really because his offensive line has been as terrible as it's been After the season. Like Houston's probably going to make the playoffs at this point they're 9-5. They're probably going to win the division with how the rest of that division has gone. But they need to attack this offseason and offensive line, help out the wazoo. They need to spend every single extra dime of money that they possibly have on that offensive line to help him feel more comfortable in the pocket, because if they do that it'll be back to what they were last year in CJ tearing up the NFL.
Speaker 1:But his offensive line has been so putrid this year it has affected every single other spot of that offense. Like they've run the football a tad bit more effectively this year with Joe Mixon. But I think it was more about what Joe Mixon is able to do with as talented he is at running the football than it is more about the actual offensive line blocking for that in the running game football than it is more about the actual offensive line blocking for that off for the in the running game. Like this offensive line has terrorized this offense and terrorized what should have been a absolutely meteoric rise for cj stroud in his second year and that's the part that sucks, because he's done a lot more picks, like you could just tell. He just stopped. He doesn't trust the offense as much as he did last year and he's not able to play as clear.
Speaker 1:When he's playing clear, when he's playing free out there, he is a much different quarterback and he looks like a top-five guy. He showed that in his first year in the NFL but this year hasn't necessarily been like that. But again, he's managing. Either way, they're still 9-5. They're still going to make the playoffs. Who knows what's going to happen once they get there, but he's managing. But again, they can help him so much more if they get him some better talent at the offensive line position and pretty much all, all parts of it, like their tackles aren't really playing all that great. They they're old, a little bit older. They're not playing all that well. They're getting letting people go through like crazy, like leaky faucet.
Speaker 1:So Houston got the win here 20 to 12, but it just wasn't. It could have been a lot. It could have been a lot better and they they should have been playing a lot better this whole season, but that offensive line has been a been terrible to. Uh, let's go to the other side here because, heck, the houston offense didn't really play all that great. But their defense played very well and it showed because had he went 29 to 40, 196 yards, one touchdown to three picks.
Speaker 1:The Miami Dolphins weren't able to run the football that effectively. They only had 52 yards rushing total in this game. Devon Aitken had 41 yards, raheem Moser had eight yards, so Miami offense was really stifled for most of this game. Tyree Kill didn't go crazy. He only had two receptions for 36 yards. Let me tell you, let's see Derek Singletary, derek Stingley Sorry, singletary, derek Stingley Jr. He had. Do you have to get two picks in this game? I think, I think he had both picks in this game.
Speaker 1:Hold on, let me make sure here, play by play. Let me make sure here, Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa Intercepted. Christian Bullock had the other I think it's Christian Bullock, right, bullock. And then the other interception was Derek Singley. But Derek Singley had a one-handed interception Because at the end of the game the Miami Dolphins still had a chance to go down and tie the game if they got a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
Speaker 1:Tua tries to throw a deep it was short to the short side On the right side, tried to throw to Tyreek Hill, got totally Derek Singley, one-handed, took that ball out of the air and managed to get the pick on that and pretty much end the game. So Tua didn't necessarily have a great game. They didn't run the football effectively. The secondary of Houston really kept Miami under wraps. Like I said before this game started is that on the last pod I did think that because the way Miami is playing offense now they're a lot more quick game aren't really having like long developing plays. He really does play in that houston texans defense the way they like to play. And that's exactly what happened. That defense for the texans really kind of kept uh, put a cap on what this miami dolphins offense was able to do.
Speaker 1:And derrick singly is a monster and he's like probably the best, uh, probably the best corner in the nfl right now the way he's playing. Uh, he's definitely up there at least, if not the best corner in the NFL right now. The way he's playing, he's definitely up there at least, if not the best, like he's playing awesome and he kept Tyreek Hill under wraps. I think they did lose Jalen Waddell in the middle of this game. So he didn't really get to do anything before he ended up leaving this game with an injury. But even with him, I don't think it's going to be that much different in the way that this game was played, because the Dolphins are not the same offense. The way they're playing right now. They're not really doing a lot of the long developing plays and that's where all their explosive plays were coming and with that they're not running the football as effectively as they once did either. So I feel like, with the way they're playing offense now, the short game, all that, it keeps the defense closer and if they don't have to worry about getting beat over top with those long developing plays, I feel like you just both both the off, both the rushing and the passing kind of is of is taking a step back because of that. Sorry, I'm not getting my thoughts together. We're all trying to put all that together. So Houston wins the game. Uh, they're well on the way to make the playoffs, especially with how bad the rest of the AFC South is right now. So definitely good for them. They got that win.
Speaker 1:Next game Colts-Broncos. Broncos win the game 31-13. This one was a crazy game here because it felt like for a while for the first three quarters it felt like anybody could have won this game. It was a pretty close one, but in the fourth quarter the Broncos were able to rattle off 21 unanswered points and win this game going away because of how bad this Colts team was, especially in that fourth quarter, I felt like there was a pick six that happened in this game.
Speaker 1:There was a Jonathan Taylor. He had 22 carries carries, 107 yards, but he should have a touchdown in there. But he was had a touchdown run that it was obvious touchdown and he tried to switch hands when it came to getting into the before getting into the end zone and he ended up dropping the ball and going outside, going out of the end zone for a touchback. So that's a touchdown this Colts team didn't have because of it, so that definitely didn't help their own momentum. There was a pick six that happened in this game there, like it was everything under the sun in, especially in that fourth quarter. Uh, heck, the Broncos had was able to get a lot more done in this in that fourth quarter as well. Uh, managed to get a touchdown in there. So like this game was close for a while and it felt like the better team just kind of pulled out the necessary plays to win the game in the end. But they weren't helped by that very bad Colts offense. I think Richardson 17 of 38, 172 yards and two interceptions, so like they were helped.
Speaker 1:This Colts offense has not been great. Anthony Richardson has had his moments where he's sparked and he's flashed but, like more often than not, he's making a lot more. He's being inefficient, he's throwing picks, making bad decisions and it's not a good look, especially when the Colts still had an opportunity to potentially make the playoffs. That they kind of played out the rest of the season well, and it's just. This was not a, this was not a game of a team that looked like they still had a lot to play for. This team was very bad from start to fit like just. It's just not a good team right now and that's just kind of how it goes.
Speaker 1:Broncos won this game. They should have won this game, should not have been as close as it was for as long as it was, but credit to the broncos for pulling it out at the end. All right, we still got about five games here, so let's go ahead and keep going. All those games I talked about. I think most of those were all in the four in the one o'clock window. A lot of the great games really didn't happen until the four, like the 430 games happened on sunday. So this is the start of those. Um, this is probably the game of the day to be totally honest with you the.
Speaker 1:Bills Lions. Bills won the game 48 to 42. This is officially the highest scoring game in the NFL this season. Like this was an absolute barn burner of a game. Uh, what do I say? This was two defenses that are Swiss cheese, I think.
Speaker 1:One defense I felt like I was more confident in what the Detroit Lions could do Playing their offense and being able to run the football, I thought, more effectively. I thought the Detroit Lions had an opportunity to potentially control this game a little bit more and be able to, with the way they were able to run the football, be able to kind of control the game from start to finish, play a little bit of keep away, help their defense out, but they just were not able to do that whatsoever. I feel like they probably had that plan going into this game, but I feel like that all got thwarted very quickly because literally from the start of the game it felt like Buffalo, like it was a three, three and out. The Lions were able to do anything with their first possession and from there it just felt like the bill started off this game so fast. It was a 14, nothing first quarter and as soon as that happened, detroit was just kind of in a hole that they just could not dig themselves out of. I think it was 14-7 at one point, 21-7. The Bills were up at one point. So it just felt like they were in a hole that the Detroit Lions was not able to play probably the way they probably wanted to, to kind of help their defense out, because this Detroit Lions team has the most guys on IR this season. I think they have over 20 guys on IR for them this year and I think most of that is most of that is on defense, especially in their secondary.
Speaker 1:So this Detroit Lions team is very depleted. It felt like they kind of peaked at the wrong time this year and, with all the injury, just makes it very hard for them to see them be able to heck. They're 12 and 2 right now, so they're in in a good spot. They're going to make the playoffs, but it's just as it's like they have a lot of season ending injuries, all that defensive side. So how are they going to be able to make some huge strides to get better on defense Cause of this defense goes into the playoffs? Maybe they're probably helped by the fact that there's not a lot of very elite NFC teams to have to worry about.
Speaker 1:But again, you still have to worry about the Eagles, you still have to worry about the Packers you still have to worry about there's still there's still a few teams that can like be like heck. The Rams, their offense is very elite. It's like there's still some offense you really have to worry about and with, even with golf, have an absolutely awesome game Golf 38 of 59 59 494 yards passing and five touchdowns. Jameer gibbs had a touchdown. He had eight carries, 31 yards and a touchdown. Amara st brown had 14 receptions, 193 yards and a touchdown. If you have a game like that and you can't win because your defense is absolutely getting destroyed I just again, they're playing. It's a very good Buffalo team that probably had their best game of their whole season. So I think, with all that being the case, like this was probably a recipe for disaster, Like they weren't going to be able to get themselves out of. Yeah, but you still have to worry about other teams in the NFC In the playoffs. Again, all those three teams I mentioned the Packers, the Rams, the Eagles they all have very good offenses too. So, and not to mention the fact they lost David Montgomery, their knuckles and their Sonic and Knuckles tandem. That's a guy that they really needed to be kind of like the hammer for their offense when they were able to run the football. So if they're not able to run the football as effectively as they have throughout this whole season with their two-back system, they're able to run the footballs effectively and help kind of help protect their defense, or defense is going to get destroyed every in potentially every game that they play because of how bad it's been. Uh, josh allen, let's talk about them real quick. Josh allen 23 of 34, 362 yards, two touchdowns. I think he had another two touchdowns rushing as well. Yeah, levin carried 68 yards and two touchdowns. He was awesome. James Cook 14 carries, 105 yards, two touchdowns he was awesome. Khalil Shakir had a touchdown reception. Ray Davis had a touchdown reception.
Speaker 1:Like this Buffalo Bills offense was on a tear. They were able to destroy this Detroit Lions team pretty much from start to finish and even with Detroit being able to score a lot of points, it just felt like every time Detroit got within striking distance, buffalo was able to score just a little bit more, to kind of pull themselves away and even with Detroit, lions had like, especially in that fourth quarter, had a chance to. They ended up scoring that touchdown to get in, I think, the two-point conversion right. Let's see here, Play-by-play yeah, they scored a touchdown late in that game with 12 seconds left. Let's see, make sure I'm not crazy. Yeah, they scored a touchdown with the extra point late at the end to make it a 42 48 game again. A little too little, too late at that point. So it just kind of sucks that that happened, but like they saw the shot to win this game. But it's just it was a little too, like I said, too little too late.
Speaker 1:But there was one point that one point of contention that people really questioned was that early on in the game detroit lions went for like a fake. Uh, let's see here, I think it was a fake punt or something like that. Let me see here. Am I crazy? Oh yeah, yeah, sorry. So.
Speaker 1:So the Detroit Lions tried to onside kick it when it was 45-28, in the middle of the third quarter, I believe. Let me make sure I'm not crazy. No, with 12 minutes left in the fourth, the Lions tried to onside kick it to try to steal the next possession away and literally for the like, they managed to try to onside kick it. One of the bills players picked it up and took the ball like 35 yards. It was like 38 yard. Matt collins minute took that ball for like a 38-yard. What is it? What do they call it? What do they call it? Crap? A 38-yard return. Sorry, my bad, I had an absolute mental breakdown there. 38-yard return Managed to put the ball at the Detroit 5. Josh Allen went and took the 5-yard rushing touchdown to manage to go up 40,. What was that? 45 to 28? Sorry, it was 38-28 when they decided to do that and then Bills ended up scoring the touchdown to go up 45-28.
Speaker 1:And by that point it felt like the kind of game was over because there's just really nothing the Detroit Lions off defense could do to really get a stop or anything. But I feel like some people were questioning whether that was the right thing to do. I feel like at that point they were down 10 points. Their defense was absolute Swiss cheese. I kind of get what their coach was doing in a why am I forgetting his name now? Danny Campbell. I get what he was doing.
Speaker 1:I think there's some people that believe they should have done differently. For sure, that's definitely an option. But again, I just feel like he knows his team and I think if he were to come out and just say our defense wasn't playing well and we needed to steal a possession to get our offense back on the field, which is our best part of our team, that day, I could totally get behind that, because that part of our team that day I could totally get behind that, because it's kind of how the game played out. Their defense has been bad. They've, they have, they're struggling to keep bodies in on that defensive side.
Speaker 1:So like, the idea that he's trying to get his offense, the best part of his team, out there for another try is definitely a huge deal. So like, so I understand the decision, I get the p, I get understand the people that would have decided to not do that, but I think, with him knowing his team and him being as successful as he's been with this lions team, I'm not necessarily going to question it because I didn't feel like it could have gone either way. I understand both sides but I understand why dan campbell did what he did to that in that moment. Um, but yeah, but this, this buffalo bills team, the way they're playing, they're 11 and three. They're a couple games behind the Chiefs for the one seed. So who knows if they're going to be able to get that, but they're in with striking disses if this Mahomes injury ends up messing with them long term.
Speaker 1:But the way they played that day, it's like if the Bills play like that, it's going to be very hard to beat them Again. Their defense didn't play all that great either either, but again, this is a very good Detroit Lions offense. So I'm not going to sit here and say the Buffalo defense is absolutely awful. But like they're, they're letting some plays go by too. They were just helped by the fact that Josh Allen was absolutely Superman and made everything necessary. Not to mention they had a very fast start. If the Detroit Lions didn't start as slow as they did and the Buffalo Bills didn't go as fast as they did, I feel like this game could have been a little bit closer. But it's just kind of how things go sometimes. But the whole Detroit Lions couldn't dig themselves out of. But that defense. I think this was two games in a row. The Buffalo Bills scored over 45 points and they went 1-1. They lost last game doing that exact same thing against the Rams. So like you could just tell that it can go either way. Josh Allen was enough in this game to win, for them to win last game against the Rams they couldn't do it. So they're both. Their defense needs to make some more strides, play a little bit better, but again in this game it was enough. They won the game against the lions. A definite credit to them. Get a drink here, sorry, all right, all right.
Speaker 1:Next game Steelers-Eagles. I'm not going to go too far in on this. Eagles win the game pretty handily, 27-13. Steelers offense didn't have anything for this Eagles defense to have to worry about. Again, we didn't have George Pickens in this game. Again, obviously, as a Steelers fan, if you guys didn't have anything for this Eagles defense to have to worry about. Again, we didn't have George Pickens in this game. Again, obviously, as a Steelers fan, if you guys didn't know, russell Wilson didn't have. There were some big plays to be made down the field but they just didn't have their best. George Pickens really does unlock this offense and the big plays down the field.
Speaker 1:Without him, the Steelers were definitely limited.
Speaker 1:We ran the football not all that well.
Speaker 1:We only had 56 yards total rushing in this game.
Speaker 1:I again I felt like if they were able to stretch the field a little bit more vertically. I feel like it could have helped the rushing offense a little bit better. But Najee Harris didn't necessarily have a great game. So like both things could be true at the same time we didn't run the football well, but also I feel like the offense just wasn't at its at its full glory. But again, I I think to a certain extent, with the injury that George Pickens had with the hamstring, I feel like they're trying to have him ready to go face the Ravens next week, which I think is the probably the more important game between the two. If we have to win one of these two games, the Ravens game is more important because we could potentially win the division, so that one is the one.
Speaker 1:If we're going to have George Pickens healthy for only one of those games, I will take him healthy for the Ravens game, but we definitely missed him in this one because without him there was nobody for the Eagles to have to worry about, especially in the secondary, because our wide receivers aren't necessarily all that special to have to worry about. Calvin Austin had a decent day 65 yards, five catches. Pat Fragman had a touchdown. He played well, but it's just without George Pickens, there's nobody to make the defense have to worry about and, with that being the case, russell Wilson didn't have a great day either. I'm not going to sit here and try to again. I've not necessarily been the biggest Russell Wilson believer this year, so I'm not going to sit here and say he played awesome, he didn't, he played bad, uh, but it's just. When you have Pickens, it kind of changes everything.
Speaker 2:So, um, I don't know with Pickens.
Speaker 1:Maybe this game was a tad bit closer, but the way this Eagles team was playing offensively I really don't think we really might have much of a shot. Um Hurts 25-32, 290 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 picks. It's just funny how last week they were complaining they, being AJ Brown and Devontae Smith, were complaining about not getting the ball enough Passing offense is an issue and then you have a Steelers team that comes into this game pretty much saying, hey, we're not going to let Saquon Barkley beat us, which is exactly what happened. Saquon Barkley had 65 yards rushing in this game, so like it was a concerted effort by the Steelers to not let Saquon Barkley beat us and that's exactly what happened. And the Eagles decided hey, if you're not going to let Saquon do it, we're going to go ahead and throw the football over the field. That's exactly what happened.
Speaker 1:The Steelers played a lot of and AJ Brown and Devontae Smith absolutely destroyed us for it, including Jalen Hurts, he played well, he threw the football well and made us pay. Aj Brown eight receptions, 110 yards and a touchdown. Devontae Smith 11 receptions, 109 yards and a touchdown. We were absolutely destroyed in this game. In the air Passing game, we just did not have enough to be able to stop this Eagles defense, this Eagles offense, and that's about it. Like, again, we stopped the rushing attack, but it's just when they have as many weapons as they do, they can decide to kind of say, hey, you decide what you want to stop and we'll just play, we'll just beat you the other way. And that's exactly what happened in this game, and with a steal, even with the few turnovers in the first quarter. Like there were two fumbles in the first quarter that kind of gave the Steelers a couple extra possessions and the Steelers only got three points out of them. Like that that could have been 14 or 10 points. Steelers only got three. So you know, it's kind of how things go sometimes. I'm not necessarily terribly mad about losing this game, but it just wasn't a great look and I'm just hoping we get George Pickens back for next week because, uh, if we're going into playing the Ravens again with no Pickens, I'm feeling a lot worse about the proposition of winning that game. So credit to the Eagles. See how one week kind of changes everything but uh, but yeah, pittsburgh just wasn't ready to win this game and that's kind of what happened, I think again. I think the stat is that the last time the Steelers won in Philadelphia was like 1965 or something like that. So it's been a long time. It's not like history was on our side in this one, but again, the Steelers just were not ready to play this game and win this game. So it's kind of how it played out.
Speaker 1:Next one Cardinals-Patriots. Cardinals destroyed the Patriots 30-17. This game wasn't necessarily all that close. James Carner had a vintage day 16 carries, 110 yards, two touchdowns. Kyler Murray didn't turn the football over, which is a definite big thing. He's been doing that over the last few games. He was 23 of 30, 224 yards, zero touchdowns, zero picks. But again, the zero picks is probably the more important part.
Speaker 1:This Arizona team ran for over 163 yards total in this game. It's definitely a big one. Trey McBride 87 yards off nine catches. Dorch had 60 yards. Marvin Harris Jr didn't havea great day with two receptions for 32 yards, but again he was getting followed around by. But again he was getting followed around by. Why am I forgetting Christian Gonzalez? Christian Gonzalez is an absolute dog and he's like one of the better corners in the league already with only a second year. So that was going to be a hard challenge for a guy like Marvin Harrison to come into.
Speaker 1:But outside of that, this Patriots defense really doesn't have many guys to have to worry about and the Cardinals handled them as such. They didn't really do much offensively. The Patriots didn't. Drake May had 19 of 23, 202 yards, one touchdown, one pick. They ran the football okay 116 yards total and a touchdown, but it just wasn't enough when the Cardinals were playing as efficiently as they were. And as long as Kyler Murray isn't turning over the football, it's going to be a lot better day. Was there a let's see here Pay-by-play? There's missed field goals. There was let's see here. Yeah, it was just an all-around win by the Cardinals to be able to win this game pretty effectively. Good for them. They're 7-7. They're still in the playoff hunt, but it's going to be a little more difficult for them. But again Kyler Murray showed that he can play effective and not turn the football over, which is definitely a huge deal.
Speaker 1:Buccaneers destroy the Chargers 40-17. Baker Mayfield had 4 touchdown passes. Mike Evans had a 2 touchdown gain 9 receptions, 159 yards receiving. Jalen McMillan had a touchdown 75 yards and 5 receptions. Rashad White had a touchdown reception in this game. He played very well.
Speaker 1:Bucky Irving I've been saying this for weeks, but Bucky Irving is an absolute monster at the running back position for them. He had 15 carries, 117 yards. Rashad White had 64 yards rushing. They ran for over 200 yards in this game, as well as having the close to 300 yards passing. So when that's happening, this LA Chargers team had no opportunities to really do anything like that, to really win this game at all, when the Buccaneers are playing that efficiently. Herbert didn't play terribly 21 to 33, 195 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. But it's just when Tampa Bay is playing as effectively as they were.
Speaker 1:It was close. In the first half it was 13 to 17, but in the second, in the first half, it was 13 17 at the end of the second quarter. But in the second half it was 13 to 17. But in the second, in the first half, it was 13, 17 at the end of the second quarter. But in the second half they came out and just molly whopped him with 27 unanswered points.
Speaker 1:So, with that being the case, the Chargers are just not able with the, the piece that they have offensively, are not able to score at that type of clip, and if their defense isn't able to get enough, stops they. They just don't have the recipe, the guys, to go ahead and win a game like this. So if it's a shootout, the Chargers aren't necessarily equipped to go out and win a game like that. So, uh, with that they heck. Chargers didn't run the football well. They had 11 carries for 32 yards. So like the Chargers are really trying to run the football this year, ball control, play good defense and it's just when you get molly whopped by Tampa Bay, like they did in the second half, it's just very hard for a team like the Chargers to win with their lack of weapons and lack of explosiveness in general for that team. So yeah, it was tough game. Buccaneers just absolutely destroyed them, making me feel had an awesome game. Next, we have like three games left here before I get out of here.
Speaker 1:So Packers-Seahawks Packers won the game 30-13. This game wasn't close whatsoever. This Packers team kind of treated them like such. Jordan Love 20-27, 229 yards and two touchdowns zero picks. Josh Jacobs had 94 yards, rushing in a touchdown off 26 carries. Christian Watson had a decent game. Romeo Dobbs had two touchdown receptions off of two out of his three receptions were touchdown receptions, so it's very good for him.
Speaker 1:It was just this Green Bay Packers offense which is so efficient, especially getting off that 14-0 lead in that first quarter. It was just like they just could not be stopped. After that, seattle just could not dig themselves out of that hole. Geno Smith didn't play well. He went 15-19, 149 yards and an interception. He did end up having to leave this game because he got hit low. I think that was in the third quarter or something like that. So that wasn't necessarily a good thing for them, because when Geno Smith is playing he's playing well. They're a very hard team to beat, but he ended up leaving this game early. Sam Howell had to finish it out and with Sam Howell their offense is totally different in the way that they run. They're not nearly as efficient passing the ball and I just feel like their offense really changed after that. Zach Charbonnet had a decent game 54 yards off, eight carries and a touchdown. Jsn had a decent game 10 receptions, 83 yards, no touchdowns there. It's just when the Packers were able to get off to that huge lead. And then Geno Smith gets hurt.
Speaker 1:The Seattle team really didn't have a chance to win this football game. Last two games we have the Monday night games that were on last night. It was a double header. You got the first one, it was the Vikings and Bears. Vikings ended up winning that game 30-12. This was just an overall dominating performance by this Vikings team.
Speaker 1:You have Sam Darnold go 24-40, 231 yards, one touchdown and one pick. You have Aaron Jones have a very good game 18 carries, 86 yards and a touchdown averaging almost five yards, a carry. Cam Akers also, even though he didn't necessarily have the most explosive game. He had 19 carries, 24 yards and a touchdown, but he's a very good backup running back for them. You can just tell he's a bit of juice and it's definitely a good one-two punch with Aaron Jones. So they had over 100 yards rushing in this game. Justin Jefferson seven receptions, 73 yards on a touchdown. Jordan Addison 63 yards off, seven receptions. So, with that being the case, it's just like when you have those two guys. Oh, tj Hawkins had a good game five receptions, 52 yards and Aaron Jones had a couple of receptions.
Speaker 1:Like, when you have all those guys making plays in the past game, it's going to be very hard for a team like Chicago to beat. And as effective as their, the Chicago bears defense can be, at times they are a little bit leaky. They do have some like good defensive players. They're just not a great defense as of right now. But, caleb Williams, like it's just very hard for this Bears team to win football games when they're going down so early in the game. They were down 13-0. It felt like by the start of the second quarter they were down very quickly and it's just the Bears played well in the second half to kind of get themselves back into where they had a shot. It looked like they could like gotten the game closer, but it's just a little too little too late.
Speaker 1:Um K lawyers didn't play all that great. He went 18, a 31, 191 yards and a touchdown. And it's just he misses way too many passes. Dude, I'm like let me see so, not only when they are kind of making plays out for him and all he has to do is read the defense and kind of throw the football to the open guy. That didn't necessarily happen. He kind of pulls it down, he starts trying to improvise very early on. So it just kind of sucks how that works. So, like he just he kind of starts improvising a little bit too quick and not getting into the open guy and then when he does improvise and starts running around and start tries to throw it to the open man, he overthrows it or he has off throws. He's very is inaccurate and I don't know if that's like again, he wasn't inaccurate in college, so it's hard to kind of understand, like what's the problem now? But like with that, like with all that being the case, it's just it definitely is an issue.
Speaker 1:Um, he'll get a new offensive coordinator, get a new coach at the end of this season, so maybe they'll be able to get somebody that'll help him get through some of these issues. But he's missing open throws and it's just he's not able to run the offense the way that he probably should. And there's open guys, there's throws to be made and he's not making them. He's missing them. Just it is an issue, but it's just they keep kind of spotting these teams a bunch of points and then trying to come back in the second half, uh, trying to make the game close to the end. It just wasn't enough. So I don't know.
Speaker 1:This bears team is four and ten. They're bad for a reason. It's not all caleb williams's fault, it's an organizational thing from top to bottom. Maybe they can fix it by getting a different coach in there, different offensive coordinator, to get some different guys in there, who knows? But it definitely wasn't a great game by the Bears and it kind of showed for it. The Vikings kind of took control and didn't really look back in this game. And last but not least, you have the second game of the doubleheader for the Monday night games Falcons-Raiders. This game was an absolute dumpster fire. Falcons win the game 15-19. This game should have been a lot more like a lot different.
Speaker 1:I feel like if this Atlanta Falcons team would have played anybody else last night, they would have lost. This Raiders team is awful. Desmond Ritter is now their starting quarterback. He didn't really play all that well. This Raiders team is awful. Desmond Ritter is now their starting quarterback. He didn't really play all that well. He went 23 or 39 for 208 yards, one touchdown and two picks very bad picks.
Speaker 1:Uh, they didn't run the football effectively, only had 65 yards total rushing in this game. Uh, again, brock Bowers only had three receptions. Like was as effective as he's been all year. He kind of had his worst game at the worst time. But it's just this Falcons team, the way that Kirk is playing right now. It's been awful.
Speaker 1:They he only threw the ball 17 times last night and I get it. I think it's more concerted effort to try to like have more balance and let them and run the football more. I think they ran the football 37 times last night the Falcons did. So I do feel like they are limiting the Kirk Cousins mess-ups by trying to have him throw the football less. But he had another pick in the game last night, so like he just did not play.
Speaker 1:Like I said, 11, 17, 112 yards, one touchdown, one pick. Bijon had an awesome game 22 carries, 125 yards. Tyler uh, tyler Algier had 12 carries, 43 yards. So like they really did try to have a different recipe with how they run their offense but it just wasn't enough. And again, like I said, their offense was so ineffective. Last night Drake London had a touchdown, but like they just weren't able to do enough offensively last night to. Really they should have won this game by a lot more and if against this Raiders Raiders team. But if they would have played anybody else, they probably lost because of how bad they've been offensively. And it's not like their defense is all that great, it's just they're playing a very bad Raiders team that really has nothing going for them right now. So it just kind of sucks the Raiders, and I think it's been announced already that Kirk Cousins is not even going to start for the rest of the year.
Speaker 1:I think they've made the decision that they're going to start Pennix for the rest of the year, so the torch has now been passed. Michael Pennix Jr will now be the starting quarterback for this Falcons team for the rest of the year. I think they were keeping Kirk Cousins in as a starter as long as they were because I think that they thought they potentially had a chance to make the playoffs and make some noise there. But with Kirk Cousins playing as bad as he's has over the last few weeks, I feel like they finally had to make make a decision, and they they did. They drafted Pennix early on in the first round. I think it was a top. What was it? A top 10 pick.
Speaker 1:So with them taking Pennix, it is kind of perplexed. Everybody asked. So with them taking Penix, it just kind of perplexed everybody as to why they picked him where they did when they paid Kirk all that money. But maybe they'll use this rest of the season as a reason to like, hey, if Penix plays well, they'll just eat through all the money that they owe Kirk Cousins and just let Penix be their starter moving forward. They probably should have just not signed Kirk Cousins at all and just drafted a Kirk uh, drafted Penix to be their starter for this year.
Speaker 1:That's not how it went but in a stupid way kind of worked out for them that they they get to have a preview to try to see if Penix can be their starter moving forward.
Speaker 1:But it's just very bad decision in the first place to pay Kirk Cousins and then draft Penix in the first round. So didn't really work out well. It is working out as of right now, but it just didn't make sense from the get-go. I'm not going to give them credit for it now starting to work in their favor because it was a bad decision to begin with. But they're going to let Penix go see how he does, goes moving forward, and I think Kirk Cousins probably going to be on a different team, probably starting next year. If Penix plays decently whatsoever, I feel like he will be. Either they'll drop him or they'll trade him to somewhere who knows. It'll be hard to trade him with that very crazy contract, but, uh, we'll see how it goes. I'm excited to see Penix, though, because last time I saw him, uh, he was playing for Washington and he was absolutely throwing dives all over the field. Last year, other than in the national was playing for Washington he was absolutely throwing dives all over the field.
Speaker 1:Last year other than in the national championship game for Washington. He was throwing absolute lasers all over the field. So hopefully they'll be a little bit better with Pennington Pennington at the helm. So, oh, and did I mention the Lions? Uh, they lost Montgomery for the rest of the year with a broken foot. I don't know if I mentioned that or not, so I figured I'd mention it now. But that's about it for the rest of the NFL, for all the NFL games, and again, I had Jace right here next to me and I forgot to ask him between the Broncos and Chargers, uh, for that game and he's.
Speaker 1:I know he's at a movie now so he's probably not gonna answer me now. Okay, I'm going to go ahead and make my pick a Thursday night game. We're not going to pot until Friday. Let me see. If I had to pick between the two teams, I will probably go with. Let me see the way the Broncos are playing. It's a very hard team to beat. Let me see how that can go. The first time, that's probably what I want to check. Let's see when are the Chargers. Let me see How'd that game go the first time. That's probably what I want to check. Let's see when are the Chargers Chargers, chargers, chargers. How did that game go the first time? Broncos won 23-16. Because the Broncos have a good team. Their offense is playing well. Defense they're a very good defense as of right now. So you know what I'll pick the Broncos. I'll give jason mulligan, even if I I'm not sure he's going to pick, but I'll give him a mulligan?
Speaker 1:uh, never really matter, I'll let him let him decide. Uh, who knows, I have such a huge lead when it comes to our rate, our actual picks, that I honestly don't care. I think total I went 12 and 4 last week. Jace I went 12 and four last week. Jace also went 12 and four. So our picks were very good last week. We do them straight up, not against the spread.
Speaker 1:I think now that Jace can bet, now that he's 21, I think he'll get more into it. So hopefully I'll be able to convince him to start betting against the spread. It'll make it a little more challenging for us. Total on the year I'm 161 and 63. Jace is 142 and 82. So I have a nice little cushion there. So I'll give him a mulligan. I don't feel too bad about it. I have a nice little lead here. So I doubt I'm going to give that up this year. But that's about it for the Thursday picks. Very good reaction for all the NFL games.

Hopefully you like us and enjoy our podcast enough to join us on this ride of talking about sports in the dumbest way possible.
