Welcome back to the podcast. Today is Thursday, February the 6th, and we are back from the podcast.
Speaker 2We back. It's a big week we got. We both come up in six. Sorry for being gone for so long Last week.
Speaker 1I'm still sick. I did.
Speaker 2I did the whole podcast without being able to talk Barely Dude, I couldn't.
Speaker 1And then up being sick.
Speaker 2Sorry for being gone for so long Last week. I'm still sick. I did the whole podcast without being able to talk. Barely Dude, I couldn't. And then you were sick and then the trade deadline was today. You were sick yesterday. We were going to do it yesterday because we've got to get some time to be able to do the Super Bowl and stuff.
Speaker 1I couldn't function.
Speaker 2It's just been a lot of stuff going on, going on, but we are here. Today is the day. The Super Bowl is three days away. Jace claims he doesn't care about it, but you know everybody else does.
Speaker 1I know, but look, the Super Bowl starts at when.
Speaker 2Like 6 o'clock, like 6.30.
Speaker 1When does the game start?
Speaker 2Like 7. If that's the case, because you know the pre-game stuff is always so long.
Speaker 1Okay, it starts at 7. How long is the halftime show? Half an hour. How long are the commercials? There's a lot of commercials, man. They're really fucking long.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1So I'm talking like this is becoming a college football game 10, 11.
Speaker 2Yes, it's an event.
Speaker 1I'm getting a five-hour show. I like my two and a half hours. Three hours football games.
Speaker 2I don't want to get into the game yet, but like you don't want to see Kendrick Lamar make everybody say a minor in the middle of the whole show.
Speaker 1I don't give a fuck. I don't think the song's not great, I don't care.
Speaker 2Honestly, the more I hear the song, it actually is a very good, it's a bop, it's a very good song. I don't care. I don't care anymore. I'm past At the Grammys. It was fucking funny. Yeah.
Speaker 1Taylor Swift dancing to it was fucking funny. Yeah, but no, kanye's wife being naked was funny.
Speaker 2She's always naked. Has this really changed anything? She literally always is. He doesn't bring her out unless she's naked. That's why I think he puts her on a charger when they get home. She's not a real person. He just, like Boop, puts her like a freaking, like a little robot vacuum.
Speaker 1She has a little dock at home and then he takes her off. Yeah, I don't know. I guess pop culture has not been a thing I've cared about recently. I've been vibing with my game from the 1999. It's been a thing I've cared about recently. I've been vibing with um, my game from the 1999. It's been a vibe for me. There's no ads, uh, um, it's just, I don't care. Joe burrow is not a part of it, so I don't care did not just do that uh, I didn't watch the pro bowl, didn't even know it was on.
Speaker 1I didn't watch it either.
Speaker 2No actual game doesn't mean anything. Uh, I, I didn't watch the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 1Didn't even know it was on. I didn't watch it either. No clue. The actual game doesn't mean anything.
Speaker 2I didn't watch any of it I watched some clips of Joe Burrow doing some things. Oh, by the way, real quick, joe Burrow, before we get into the basketball stuff, because there's plenty of stuff to talk about with that. He doesn't look cool anymore.
Speaker 1What do you?
Speaker 2mean he was on a bunch of like stuff today, doing tv and all that, and I'm like this dude, I'm not sure what happened. Like you know, some people like get facelifts and like all that happens. Maybe it's his hair. Can you look at it look? At his hair maybe it's so long because now his head looks so his face, that's his hair looks so long and it makes his actual face, his eyes, nose and mouth look so small.
Speaker 2It's like he looks like King of the Hill. You know how those characters are made. That's what his face looks like. A lot of forehead a lot of chin. The actual face doesn't fill it up at all, so he looks like. He doesn't look cool, no more. He looks like an old man and I'm like maybe it's just all this losing, maybe it's just what it does, dude it's just all this losing.
Speaker 1Maybe it's just what it doesn't do. It's just the hair man. I swear to you because he looked weird at the start of the season too.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's the hair he's always had like the slick back hair. Yeah, it's the hair, but now he's like so much on top, it's just like it makes it looks it makes?
Speaker 1it makes him look weird, I agree, but again, not so much he sounds like a square.
Speaker 2He is, he's a, he's a very much a square. And then as look and he sounds like a square, all talk about it the same. Not to mention he doesn't really give you a lot of like when you talk. He's not giving you a lot of great information. He's Tom Brady-like.
Speaker 1He's worse.
Speaker 2He's giving you nothing.
Speaker 1He's less than nothing. He's just a normal guy, pc, all the way Really likes football.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1But man get him playing, get him in a moment.
Speaker 2That's where he thrives.
Speaker 1Outside of serious football. He's just a normal dude. He spends his vacation at home with his parents doing nothing, Going to his fucking lake house.
Speaker 2It's just weird it is. I was cringing because of how square he was and what he looked like when I watched the video.
Speaker 1He's a normal guy. He's a normal dude from Ohio.
Speaker 2I guess. I guess. But when you think about what he's looked at in the NFL, he's like Joe Cool, he's Joe Shysty. You have the nice outfits, you have the good moments where he's in his bag, it's a persona. Yeah, but I'm like it just so. Doesn't match, but as a person.
Speaker 1That's not who he is.
Speaker 2It just doesn't match so bad. It's a persona he has to put on when playing football.
Speaker 1Yeah, but as a person, if he wasn't 6'4 and elite.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Also, they had that thing at the fucking Pro Bowl, at the Super Bowl conference. I don't know who it was. He was like Joe Burrow's, not an elite quarterback.
Speaker 2Somebody said that.
Speaker 1You didn't see that. No, joe Burrow is not an elite quarterback. He said it like six times and everybody commented on it. It was like you're insane yeah obviously I have to pull this up. Obviously I need to know what it was, because he got to the Super Bowl press conference and they asked him about it. It was a reporter. Let me pull this up with you.
Speaker 2You said. He said that Joe Burrow's not elite. Huh, interesting that's. Yeah, it's insane. I saw some people were talking about elite quarterbacks and like they were talking about like one guy said he had a rule that there's only but a few elite quarterbacks and he's like there's only three. And I'm like if you're going to have that type of mentality about it, maybe I can get behind the idea that maybe you don't find Joe Burrow to be elite.
Speaker 1Chris Canty said it.
Speaker 2Oh, but Chris Canty, no, no, no, no, you can't take him. He's become the hot take guy at ESPN, Like he has a little radio show that he does before, like in the like 4 o'clock in the morning before anybody's even up.
Speaker 1That's the thing. He was down there and they're doing it in. I'm missing.
Speaker 2Where the Super Bowl is. Yes, new Orleans, new Orleans.
Speaker 1He got down to New Orleans and everybody was like so Joe Burrow's not an elite quarterback. He's not an elite quarterback. Canty said of Burrow We've got to get out of the thing that we want to anoint everybody an elite quarterback. I'm just saying we can't give the runner-up to the runner-up to the runner-up elite quarterback status. There aren't but three spots on the medal stand.
Speaker 2Okay, so he's making it a three-guy race.
Speaker 1Oh Okay, so Joe Burrow's worse than Lamar Jackson? That, oh so Joe Burrow's worse than Lamar.
Speaker 2Jackson. That's what he's making, the claim of.
Speaker 1He's a black guy.
Speaker 2So Lamar Jackson gets special treatment.
Speaker 1Oh, and he's worse than Josh Allen, apparently. So how many AFC titles do they both have? How many Super Bowl appearances do they both have? How many times have they both beat Mahomes in the playoff Zero? For both Josh Allen's 0-4.
Speaker 2Lamar's 0-2. At least Joe Burrow Is 1-1 in the playoffs.
Speaker 1Oh, and is he the only other dude To ever beat Mahomes?
Speaker 2Or is he 1-2?
Speaker 1No, he's 1-1 Lost in the AFC Championship. Beat him in the AFC Championship. He's 2-1 against. Mahomes In the regular season. So is he Only active quarterback Besides Tom Brady To ever beat him.
Speaker 2And he's not on the medal stand In the playoffs.
Speaker 1yeah, yeah, this year he's not on the medal stand, but he still outperformed both of them.
Speaker 2Right, you put him on either one of those teams. I think he probably gets the job done.
Speaker 1You give him the chance to play Mahomes again, beat him by three.
Speaker 2I think he takes both of those teams that they just had. That couldn't beat Mahomes. I think he beats both. I think either one of them Easily I think maybe okay, sorry Buffalo, maybe, I will say because Buffalo doesn't have nearly the wide receiver talent he has Agreed, but I think Burrow elevates the Ravens.
Speaker 1No chance, there's no chance he's destroyed.
Speaker 2They destroy the Chiefs, no questions asked If he's on the race.
Speaker 1I think even with buffalo there's I think you had a better I wouldn't say buffalo, because buffalo their defense is.
Speaker 2It's kind of bad. Even buffalo was josh well, but it's so josh out their defense. I'm saying their defense is bad or is their defense bangles bad? Okay, I'm saying not as bad as the bangles, but then I'm saying the offensive side, like they have, they have, uh, the running back, james Cook Cook. And then do you really trust any other wide receivers at all? Zero, zilch Nada.
Speaker 1I agree, but Burrow can elevate a team, unlike Josh Allen.
Speaker 2Yes, but there's only but so much else.
Speaker 1Not to mention the Kansas City Chiefs. Defense is actually very good and you can't elevate them that much. That wide receiver core is unhelpful.
Speaker 2That Kansas City defense couldn't stop Joe Burrow. He still put up 32. No, but Joe Burrow still has those two guys as a wide receiver.
Speaker 1That's what I'm saying. That's the difference. No, he didn't Not. At the time he had Jamar Chase, he was out.
Debating Elite Quarterback Status
Speaker 2Okay, he had Chase, but he's still at Chase. That's still the number one wide receiver in the league this year. Triple crown winner. He's that guy. So that's where I'm like. Okay, maybe not with buffalo, but definitely with the ravens.
Speaker 1No chance, no, no questions asked. I'm just chris, can't he? No one agreed with you.
Speaker 2Well, yeah, because nobody ever thinks of it as just a three-guy race. If you're like you, just look at it on its face. If you're an elite quarterback, you're an elite quarterback, no matter how many there are. Joe burrow can't help that all the quarterbacks that are there's a lot of quarterbacks that are very, very good right now he can't help that fact. It doesn't change the fact he's in that he's in that room. If you're talking about current quarterbacks that are in elite category, I'm not, because obviously, if you're talking about career accomplishments, mahomes is in his own room.
Speaker 1But, like, if you're just talking about I'm an elite quarterback, he's, it's in the room, there's no questions asked. If you're talking about career accomplishment, okay, lamar, you have two MVPs and what to show for it, true? Yeah, no, I agree. How much postseason success do you have?
Speaker 1Hey Allen, how much postseason success do you have, More than Lamar, but not a— and yet four straight losses to Patrick Mahomes, right, yeah, oh. So neither of you have any postseason success? Oh, so, neither of you have any post-season success. Neither of you have gotten, you know, to a super bowl. True, what hill does chris kent's jibro hasn't got over the hill.
Speaker 2what fucking hill oh yeah, again chris kent. He's just one of those guys. He's literally become the hot take machine of espn, he's that guy. That's. That's what he's, that's what he's been doing. He's been doing that for months and like in his clips are he are always out on twitter very early because he's on at four o'clock in the morning when everybody's nobody's up.
Speaker 2No one's fucking here right, so like his clips turn around and then first take is talking about it at noon. It's like that's how it goes, like he's coming up with the hot take that everybody's talking about throughout yeah, first take said that was it's's stupid, that's dumb, it's stupid, it's stupid.
Speaker 1Shannon Sharpe and Ocho Cinco said the same shit. That's stupid. Well, yeah.
Speaker 2Even Shannon Sharpe said his gripes with Joe Burr because he wants Joe Burr to take more blame with some of the mistakes he has had in big moments this year, which I'm like, okay, fine, If you want to take that sure. Cool, but Joe Burrow's not a league quarterback. No, he wouldn't say that.
Speaker 1Fucking. Cam Newton said the same thing. That's false. Joe Burrow's the best statistical quarterback in the NFL with a bad defense.
Speaker 2Exactly so bad. It's so bad, not just a bad defense, it's 32 is what they were. A terrible, awful defense. It's not even close. One thing it was a mediocre defense that he couldn't win with. No, it was a terrible, mediocre defense. He got to Super Bowl. It was bottom of the NFL type defense. That's how bad it was.
Speaker 1Ken Taylor Britt was flagged 17 times this year. Did you know that?
Speaker 2Insane.
Speaker 1That was still only 13th. Most in the league I'll give you this With your bad defense.
Speaker 2this draft is a lot of defense this year I want.
Speaker 1Miles Garrett, do you defense this draft is a lot of defense this year. I want Miles Garrett. You have T Higgins in our first round pick and our next year, first Give me Miles Garrett.
Speaker 2They're not going to trade him with the Cubs.
Speaker 1I know, but that's not a bad trade.
Speaker 2Okay, I want to talk about the Miles Garrett stuff later.
Speaker 1Okay, alright, let's talk about the NBA and then we'll get back to the NFL stuff. Let's not. I don't give a fuck about the NBA.
Speaker 2I just want to talk about Luka.
Controversy Surrounding Luka Doncic Trade
Speaker 1Don't give a shit. Just because some GM was off a per 30, don't be able to trade. Luka and Jimmy are the two things I want to talk about. All right, l um jcu did barely care at all.
Speaker 2But this luca trade is probably the most shocking trade in a long time? Yeah, because it was. It's luca. He's 25 years old.
Speaker 1This, no, this was stupid. Who? This dude dropped 70 last year. Who cares if he can't make weight?
Speaker 2he's still putting on buckets. So let me get. Let me take the trade out. Dallas trades luca, max cleaver and marquiseith Morris to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis, max Christie and a 2029 first round pick. So, first thing, apparently the Dallas has made it clear that apparently they're under new ownership. So Cuban doesn't have any type of, doesn't have any hands on this anymore, because he sold his majority share of the Dallas Mavericks. Apparently Cuban was mad about it, like he was upset. He had no idea what was happening. But again, mark Cuban, you can't be really all that mad. You sold your stake for a potential, for potential billions of dollars when they make gambling legal in Texas and the next thing you know, you can start building casinos. That's what he sold his majority share for, because the people that he sold to they own a bunch of casinos in the United States. So he's out of this. So apparently they were mad about Luka not taking everything seriously when it comes to his diet. Apparently, he does a lot of hookah. He drinks a lot.
Speaker 1All of that being the case, and he still puts up 35 a night, but he's still averaging close to 30 points a game.
Speaker 2He took you months ago to the finals with Kyrie Irving. He took you months ago to the finals with Kyrie Irving. He took you months ago, not years ago, months. Months ago. Last year he took you to the finals. So and apparently this GM is like hey, we were worried about that. And even if like, because apparently they were going to have to give him a super max at the end of the year.
Speaker 1Yeah, he was up for $400 million. It was like $350 million yeah.
Speaker 2Let's just say they're that upset, they're that worried about what he will be five, ten years. Now he's 25 years old. He could probably still go at this rate and still be this type of player for at least the next five years. Maybe at 30 he'll start to break down. Injuries become more often if you're not take care of yourself. Not everybody can be lebron and last like this until he's 40 years old.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2LeBron. Looking as great as he is right now, he's probably one of the top 10 player in the league, because that's great.
Speaker 1He takes care of his body. You're saying all this. That doesn't explain why you took a motherfucker that hasn't played a full season in six years.
Speaker 2Andy Davis played like 70-something games last year. How many games?
Speaker 1is there in a season 82. Oh, what about the year before?
Speaker 2Right Year before yes Year before.
Speaker 1Yes, oh, who's 31?
Speaker 231 years old. He'll be 32 in the next few weeks.
Speaker 1Yes, and will be on the team in the next three years To trade away your generational player?
Speaker 2Yeah, Lucas is literally generational To the Lakers. Because he can't keep weight off.
Speaker 1Did you see the press conference with Jason Kidd in the GM?
Speaker 2Yeah, and they said it, and Jason Kidd gave him a fake laugh.
Speaker 1Yeah, he was like, yeah, me and Jason. He was like I know what players Jason Kidd like and Jason Kidd goes.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm sorry you didn't tell your coach hey, we're training Luka. Jason Kidd had no idea. There's no way. Jason Kidd had no idea.
Speaker 1There's no way, because I think even with the problems that Luka has. I think everybody can admit, luka's so great that even the next five years.
Speaker 2it doesn't matter, it won't matter.
Speaker 1He could be 300 pounds and if he's still putting up at least 25, who gives a fuck, right? Yes, he's putting up 30 a night. Yeah, like easily. Sure, he gets fucking tired. Who gives a shit? So does Paolo Bencaro, and he's not that heavy. You know why? Because these niggas are that good, yeah, you like I.
Speaker 2Genuinely it makes no sense. It literally makes no sense.
Speaker 1Okay, Basketball-wise, it makes no sense it did not help that the very next game y'all were down 50 by the end of the second quarter.
Speaker 2Yeah, 50 by the end of the second quarter. Oh, luka hasn't played in like 20-something games because he had the calf injury. They were like 7-14. So, like okay.
Speaker 2So this is where I ask this question right, you'd want to trade Luka because in the get-mad-back, anthony Davis, because it makes you a better team. Now, can I get behind the idea that maybe the Mavs are better right now than what they were with Luka? Yes, I can maybe get behind that. Anthony Davis is a two-way player. He scores 25 a night, gets you 12 rebounds, great defensive player. But I think for Dallas, oh, and for Dallas, like for the Mavs, you have to win a championship either this year or next year to make any of this worth it. Or you have to win a championship either this year or next year to make any of this worth it, or you have to hope to God that Luka doesn't take this moment that you're making an embarrassment of him, because apparently he bought like a $15 million house, like he foreclosed on a house a couple days before this happened, so like he was planning on staying.
Speaker 2And like they asked Luka when he went to the press conference for the Lakers hey, did you say at all that you weren't going to be weren't going to be willing to sign the extension. He said no, because why does anybody? Nobody says no to the supermax, nobody has ever. Since the start of the supermax thing, nobody will say no the supermax. So they want that money because once you get traded, luca lost 1177 million because he got traded. So that's where the next question is Is that, why would they only bring it up to the Lakers? Apparently they shopped it to the Lakers and apparently one other team, but nobody knows who it is. Everybody was guessing it's Milwaukee, because Giannis kind of fits the same old. They want defense but they want a great player. But obviously Milwaukee makes sense. Why they would say no, right? Yeah, milwaukee probably would.
Speaker 1But why?
Speaker 2wouldn't you sign Luka to the Supermax right? Because as soon as that happens, you have control over him for the next six years and you would have gotten so much more out of him. What you got for him was Andy Davis, who was a great player, an awesome player, but Max Christine, a 2029 first round picks.
Speaker 1Pennies awesome player, but max christine a 2029 first round picks pennies.
Speaker 2It was pennies, pennies on the dollar. Apparently they also had dalton connect and another first round pick in the deal and the lakers gm was able to talk the dallas gm out of it because like, oh, you just spent all this time telling me how he's a drunk and is overweight and all this, so it's a risk for me. So take, take dalton connect in the first round pick out of the deal. And he's like okay, fine. That's why this makes no sense, because every sense of the word, you didn't get the most you can get for him for being a guy at his age and at his talent. You didn't get. You didn't get the best like getting the best for him. And then you didn't sign him to the long-term deal and then shop him because in like, so I'm just like at no point does this make any sense whatsoever this is a 2k ass trade uh you can't you put that together on the 2k because we're like, oh, this is stupid, why would you do that?
Speaker 2he's 25 and even if you only have five more years of the of luca doing this, do you know, in his first seven years of being an nba player, do you know? He has more all NBA, all NBA, all pros than Steph Curry and um, then Steph Curry, then Anthony Davis like the only guys that have more than him are LeBron Katie and then that's pretty much it. Like he has more all pros and all than a lot of the people in the NBA. He's only been in the league for seven years. It's like, even if you get this type of production for the next five years, that's five years worth of some of the best basketball you can get before he ends up breaking down. But then you could trade him. Something's like this from top to bottom makes zero sense whatsoever. So first did you lose all sort of credit, like all sort of belief in Luka Doncic's all together?
Speaker 1you guys need to have a winning season this year and next year you have to win a championship. You have to Dude your next game. Mavs fans were walking around with a fucking coffin.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1You guys traded your franchise player for nothing, nothing.
Speaker 2Nothing, man, nothing. And you have to hope that you embarrassing Luka like this is not going to make him turn around and be like, hey, I'm going to become the player you thought I couldn't be and I'm going to ruin your life for the next 10 years.
Speaker 1Dude, I genuinely fear that I'm about to watch LeBron and this nigga go win a championship.
Speaker 2You gave him the origin story. You literally made his origin story. Now that's what does it is that you have now given him that one lowest moment that he's ever had in his life, to where now he can use this to propel himself into the player you never thought he could be. That makes you not want to pay him that money. It makes you not want to keep him around as your number one guy of your franchise.
Speaker 1I'm about to watch LeBron win another fucking chip. You gave him that moment. I'm about to watch LeBron win another fucking chip.
Speaker 2Why am I doing this? They're not going to do it this year, I think. So let's go to the Lakers side here. Obviously, I think one. I think this says that the team anymore this is Luka's team, because obviously LeBron didn't know, anthony Davis didn't know, luka had no idea.
Speaker 2How did LeBron find out? At dinner? At dinner After it happened, and maybe even if he had 24 hours Like, he had no idea. Like do you think LeBron would have liked to know beforehand so he can like see what his options are? Probably believe LeBron when he said after all this happened, he's like hey, if I really didn't like what's going on here, I can just waive my no trade clause and I can get out of here, because there's no shortage of teams that would like to trade for LeBron. Services at Golden State has been sipping or like starving. Basically, they've been looking for months for a superstar to give to Steph so they can use, they can like do something with the rest of Steph's prime. So I think one, like I said already, that this isn't LeBron's team anymore. This is now Luka's team. This is now the Lakers setting themselves up for the next 10 years without LeBron.
Speaker 1I know, but I'm very. How do the Lakers just keep walking to the next generational player year after year? Kobe retires new walk into LeBron.
Speaker 2They did have five years of being terrible, though they were like awful, awful, true. And then LeBron like said, hey, I'll grace you with my presence. You say awful, awful.
Speaker 1Like they did not those five years they drafted Julius Randle Brandon Ingram.
Speaker 2But they were still bad.
Speaker 1True, but you traded all those players and they all became all-stars. So I was a oh yeah, but they weren't all-stars with you. True, but again, that was a Lakers problem, not a them problem. Oh yeah, for sure, but they were awful.
Speaker 2Lebron chose to go there. Then you have another superstar and now you have Dallas giving Luka to you for spending from the dollar, so like I can give the Lakers some type of credit that they're like, hey, we understand LeBron's 40 years old.
Speaker 1He's not going to be here forever.
Speaker 2credit what do you mean? Oh, it landed their lap. If I'm the gym, I'm like these niggas are tweaking. Sure you're not wrong.
Speaker 1There's only like probably two, two or three teams that would get that call and say no uh, and the fact you were the okay, real quick, the gm for the lakers just made, just guaranteed his job for the next 15 years. I'm genuinely, if I if'm the owner, I go, look at you. You talked him down for Luka.
Speaker 2You talked him down. If I'm the owner, only one first round pick Insane.
Speaker 1If I'm the owner, I'm giving that man head right there. You talked him down. One first round pick Luka's worth at least two.
Speaker 2Durant when he got traded to the Suns got four first-round picks and three pick swaps and Durant wasn't 25. Durant was like 29, 30?.
Speaker 1Durant was 30 at the time.
Speaker 2No with Phoenix. He only moved to Phoenix two years. So, he was 32, 33, and he got all of that. Luka is eight years younger than that.
Speaker 1And just went to the finals a couple months ago.
Speaker 2Just took you to the finals.
Speaker 1And lost to a super team.
Speaker 2Yes, I wouldn't call Celtics a super team.
Speaker 1Yeah, but they were well overstaffed compared to the Mavs.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, no question, Luka was out there putting up 40.
Speaker 1I think during those series he put up like 40, 38, 50.
Speaker 2And Kyrie really didn't show up in that series. No, Luke was balling his ass off, right?
Speaker 1yeah, you're not wrong, and y'all traded him because he wants to smoke.
Speaker 2Again. All those things do need to change if he wants to be the player long term who gives a fuck I don't give a fuck Does it matter this nigga want a honey bun?
LeBron and Luka's Career Impact
Speaker 1Eat your fucking honey. Years of great play out of him so far. You could have at least another five. I don't understand If I can look at him and be like, hey, you're going to sell tickets, You're going to put up 30. If we could put a better team around you some more defense.
Speaker 2Who cares? Who gives a fuck? They did that last year and he got you all the way to the finals. Make a few tweaks here or there. I genuinely cannot.
Speaker 1I saw this trade at like 12.45. I was like going to sleep, Not worth it.
Speaker 2I saw it at 3 am because I was watching something, so I didn't even notice what the trade had.
Speaker 1I have nothing for it. There's no merit to this trade. This trade makes no fucking sense.
Speaker 2It literally makes no sense at all. One thing about LeBron also, because, lebron, the way you look at it right now, you're not going to championship this year. It's not going to happen. They dig just. They just trade for a big man from charlotte I believe he's a very good big man, but like I don't think this turns them into a championship winning team, um, but here's. So why wouldn't lebron leave? Because if somewhere else, maybe he'd have a better opportunity to win a championship. Do you think, lebron? Because?
Speaker 2Think about what is one thing LeBron doesn't have in comparison to Kobe and Jordan More accolades, okay, fine, but when it comes to like the other players in the league, right, when other players that were playing around the same time as Jordan coming up and looking at Jordan, or when other players that were playing around the same time as Jordan coming up and looking at Jordan, or when other players coming up looking at Kobe, well, I think about all the players that looked up to Kobe and said, hey, that was the guy that taught me so much and he's the reason I'm as good as I am.
Speaker 2Um, tatum would do that. Kyrie's all this said about Kobe. How many players have talked about LeBron being that big brother to get me to that moment, right? So what if LeBron is going to use this moment even if they don't want a championship for the next year, two years and look at Luka and turn his life around and turn Luka into the player for the next 10 years that he probably should be, and then Luka would be able to praise LeBron by saying, hey, I got to the Lakers at my lowest moment and.
Speaker 2Mr LeBron himself zared me into becoming the player that I that was going to be, and now LeBron might have the greatest story of helping a young player get to being one of the best players of all time. So I think if Luka keeps going at this rate, luka will be a top all time player to ever play the game of basketball. That's how good he is. So what if LeBron might be playing the long game here and this might be his player? That will be like when they get their Hall of Fame induction, they'll be thinking LeBron, kyrie thinks Kobe.
Speaker 2I think LeBron doesn't have that. Can you think of one player that talks about LeBron saying, hey, he's the reason I am who I am today, he's the guy I looked up to? Like he might have that with Luka and he like, with this next year or two until LeBron ends up retiring because it's going to happen, he can't play for the next like the way people talk about LeBron is like he can keep playing for the next five years, like this probably still play, and he'll want that to be the narrative.
Speaker 2Like, oh, lebron could have played longer and he didn't. So I'm gonna give LeBron a lot of credit and say he won't do that. But like people keep talking like oh, he'll play the next five years, like no, he won't. Like he's 40 now. And like the fact that he's had longevity is on another planet, on another universe, right, but I just think this might be one of those things that is. A career definer is being the guy that helped Luca become the player he needs to be. It's just insane. It's not like Luca isn't already a five time all pro and doing all like five time. What do they call it? First team all pro first team allba all nba sorry, all nba.
Jimmy Butler Trade
Speaker 2That's what. That's what it is. I kept messing, mixing up with all pro. Yeah, okay, so that's it. That trade was absolutely insane. That was that happened on friday, so that's really dominated most of the week. So the other trade I want to talk about the nba, because there's been a bunch of trades this is probably one of them been one of the more action-packed NBA trade deadlines in a long time. So now you got Jimmy Butler getting traded today. I'm mentioning this because there's a lot of tentacles come off of this.
Speaker 2Jimmy Butler, for the longest time with Miami we've talked about this before on the pod has been getting suspended by the Miami Heat. He there's an issue between him and pat riley. He's getting suspended because he hasn't shown up for the team playing and taking his own plane and, uh, he wants to get more play. He's been wanting to get more players on the team so they can try to make more runs. They haven't been able to get more superstars around him and then he wanted to get traded. He told me what he said. Oh sorry, he said he wanted an extension and they said they didn't want to give him an extension because of his age, which makes more than enough sense, right? So then Jimmy Butler's not happy about that and he said hey, I want to get out of here. Miami for the longest time said no, and then next thing, you know, this whole suspending him thing happens over the last month or so and now they're really trying to trade him. Just try to get that problem out of the locker room, because I think Jimmy Butler has proved one thing is when he's done with your team and he wants to make a mess of things, he will absolutely do so without much remorse. He'll do without much remorse at all. So now it's finally happened. He has gotten traded to the Golden State Warriors.
Speaker 2There was a point, like a week ago, something like that, where he stated he wouldn't traded to um, the golden state warriors. There was a point like a week ago something like that, where he stated he wouldn't want to go to the warriors for whatever reason, and that seemed like a bluff. And then they come back around. There was a point in this where it was a three-team trade about to go down where phoenix would send uh, phoenix would send kd to the warriors and then phoenix would get j get Jimmy Butler, and so like that was close to happening. But then KD said that he didn't want to go back to the Warriors, which makes sense. Like I left you. When I left you, you were a better team than what you would be if I'm coming back to you. So why would I come back looking like I'm groveling to try to come win some more? But it's a worse team now. So like, why would he do that? So that kind of makes sense. That kind of makes sense.
Speaker 2Heck, for the longest time the Phoenix Suns were like the top team Jimmy Butler wanted to go to. But Phoenix doesn't have any much when it comes to assets and one of their only trade pieces was what's his? Bradley Beal, who magically has a no trade clause because the Wizards were dumb enough to give him that. So, like, he got to have the ultimate say so and he didn't want to go. So this is a whole thing. And then the phoenix deciding hey, since bradley beal won't leave, let's see if kd can leave. And they shopped him around. People were calling, but nothing ever truly happened.
Speaker 2And then butler goes to the, goes to uh, golden state. He goes there, they give him a two-year extension. He's gonna be getting paid 60 million dollars a year. Does this change anything for them at all? Like they they already. I think they're barely under 500.
Speaker 2Golden state is steph's playing one at the worst of it in his career. No clay, because clay's in dallas. Um draymond is okay, but like he's still not the player he once was, I think this is nothing more than showing stuff. Hey, we're willing to try to get players to make you interesting, but I don't think this turns golden more than showing stuff. Hey, we're willing to try to get players to make you interesting, but I don't think this turns Golden State into a contender by any means. I think Jimmy Butler's a very good player. I think Jimmy Butler is probably a Hall of Fame player at this point. If he stopped playing right now, he's probably a Hall of Fame guy. Yes, yes, by himself he took a mighty Heat team that really didn't deserve it twice to the finals not without a chip, he ain't.
Speaker 1What other accolades does he have?
Speaker 2I think he has plenty of like. He's made. I think he's made. He's an all-stars with plenty of time. He's a few-time all-star. He doesn't have any chips, but I don't think he has any all-pros either, all-nbas. I don't think he has any all-BAs NBAs. But again, I think he's been in a spot where and I think his counting stats are probably going to be good enough. But it's just, I just think, with the career that he's had and the fact that he's had and the fact that he's taken, I know a stat I heard is that there hasn't been a player that has been the best player on a team to make the NBA Finals. That's not in the NBA Hall of Fame, in the yes, hall of Fame, and let's just say this that the NBA Hall of Fame is easier to get into than a lot of other ones. So the actual the clearance isn't that high that you have to hit in order to become a hall of fame player. So I do think jimmy butler is probably that guy that probably gets it. But I just think for the warriors they have a superstar to pair next to steph for the next couple years. Steph is like 33, 34 years old. He has a few years left in his prime.
Speaker 2I don't think this turns them into a championship winning team. I think that makes it more interesting. Maybe if they get into the playoffs there and they don't have to go on the play-in and they get the right matchup, maybe they can make things a little interesting. But like, do they go beat freaking Oklahoma City this way? I don't think so. Do they go beat like some of the, like the Rockets, like they? They have there's a lot of young teams that are at the top of the of the west that maybe you can just beat because these guys have been here before. The game slows down a little bit and you can just play half court, half court offense with the. Maybe Golden State can win that way, but they're not going to get all the way to the championship. Like, you still have to face freaking Denver and you still have to face some really, really good players and really teams that have been through it before. So it's just, I don't know it's.
Speaker 2It's a saga that I think for Jimmy is happy it's over and I think it's one of those sagas that I'm just. You know it's been a as fun as the NBA tread deadline, trade deadline is, but something like a story like this has been lasting for so long this season is. It's kind of not fun. And the fact June wasn't even playing is this it became a soap opera to a certain degree. That it's just. It got annoying and I'm glad that it's over now. But outside of that there's a there's not as many big trades that happen. There's a lot of trades that like will make teams better or worse. I hack the bulls. They traded away Zach Lafine. I think they're finally taking their like waving the white flag. They did get their top ten pick back. So if something happens they actually go and lose a bunch of games, they'll get whatever pick they get. They don't have to give it up for anything. So that's good.
Speaker 1If it's just a pick, they're going to waste anyway.
Speaker 2Probably not. Yeah, you're not wrong, but if they get the first overall pick, they can get an old boy, cooper flag.
Speaker 1Yeah, but they're not going to get the first overall.
Speaker 2Yeah probably not. Yeah, it is what it is Again. That's why it makes it hard to follow basketball at least NBA basketball is because I'm a Bulls fan and they have sucked for so long and it's really been nothing good. Maybe they can lose out the rest of the year, and I can. It's becoming not worth it.
Speaker 1You're not wrong, I think, watching it's cool, but basketball is hard to watch because the Bulls are just the same shit. It's the same shit in the year, so it's not fun to watch.
Speaker 2You're not wrong. You're not wrong. Last thing, last thing, we didn't really talk basketball like actual basketball for the lake, for the luka, and do you think lebron and luka could, could make it work? Yeah, basketball wise, because I think luka needs the ball in his hands, like he's very ball dominant when they're playing on offense. I don't. I think it's going to be a little bit of a weird thing because lebrBron and Luke are very smart players. They're known as, like basketball savants and I think LeBron, if he gives it, gives power of the offense over to somebody. He wants them to take control and I think, to a certain degree I think he wanted to give it up to AD, the AV. Ad never really took the mantle a little bit to really be the guy on the team.
Speaker 2So I think it can eventually work, but I think it's going to take a while for that to kind of melt together, while when it comes to Kyrie and AD what they're going to be doing with the Dallas Mavericks I think that is a little bit of a better fit right now because AD brings the defense. Kyrie could be the main ball handler. They probably don't have enough creation when it comes to being able to put the ball into the bucket like it's Kyrie and then nobody else. But I think for the Lakers, I think it'll take a good while to kind of get everything going, which will make them not as good in the long run, especially for this year. Maybe next year, if LeBron keep up this sort of play, um, they can come together next year and kind of make some big moves. But I think right now Dallas is probably a little bit better for it than what this trade was for the Lakers. But again, the Lakers said, hey, this is about the next 10 years, not the next two.
Speaker 2So when they made that trade with Luka, when Dallas brought it to their laps which is insane the fact they didn't shop it to anybody else because why wouldn't you?
Speaker 2The fact they didn't shop it to anybody else, because why wouldn't you Let everybody start talking about it and let somebody give you an offer that you cannot refuse, the fact that they were trying to be like oh, they tried to make it seem like they don't want the trade to be over with. They didn't want Luka to hear about it and nix the trade or AD, and I'm like well, if it's for Luka, there's a lot of teams out there that would be willing to do the trade, and there's a lot of teams out there that would be willing to do the trade and you would have gotten so much more for it. But there are just so many things about that that is absolutely insane to me and I think once you hear the 30 for 30 about this story, 10 year, 20 years from now I think it'll be a very fun story to hear, like things that we don't know as of right now about it. So you got anything else when it comes to basketball I know you've been done for 15, 15 minutes now.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't give a fuck about basketball.
Speaker 2Okay, it's been so much I figured I had to talk about, because it took up the fact that the NBA found a little bit of time, even going into All-Star Week, I think next week, or something like that that they found a way, at least through Luka getting traded, to carve out during the week of the Superbowl, to carve out news to where that's what all people were talking about for like three or four days, just NBA stuff. The fact that they managed to carve out that type of time is definitely insane. And I think the trade deadline for the NBA is probably one of the most culturally impactful sports moments of the whole of the whole year because it just brings up so much drama. It's like a soap opera and everybody's involved. Even people that don't care about it end up caring about it because of how much the other people that do care about it care about it, Because you see, there's like a TikTok of like a guy talking to his girlfriend about oh how I want my girlfriend to actually react when I talk about the Luca trade in comparison to what she actually says. Very funny, very funny TikTok thought I saw. But you know, Again, it's just culturally impactful when the NBA has their trade deadline. In comparison like when the NFL does it Major League Baseball it's not nearly as big as when it happens in the NBA, which is, for some crazy reason, it's just how it goes.
Miles Garrett Trade Request Analysis
Speaker 2All right, let's be done with basketball. We've done enough of that for today. That's it All right. Let's talk about the news for the NFL first. You kind of mentioned it already Miles Garrett asked for a trade officially from the Cleveland Browns. I think he wrote his little letter saying bye to the fans. So I think he's really being serious and I'm going to give him credit, as much as I hate the way that he talks about himself and how he talks about himself being the best defense player in the league, when I think it really hasn't been true for years Pass rush, win rate and all that. I think he's saying this because he wants to be a winner. I don't think he wants to sit there and keep losing with Cleveland anymore. He did his little rounds with the media over the last couple days and I think he's made it very clear that this is about him wanting to be in a winning situation.
Speaker 2He's been in the NFL for nine years and he's like, hey, this is John watching stuff.
Speaker 1What are we doing here? I think this is a ploy to get them to draft a quarterback, which is why Dento Ward is also doing it, because those are your two perennial all-stars, those are your best two players.
Speaker 2Chubb would be a part of it too, if he was healthy enough to you know Dento Ward's coming off one of his best seasons.
Speaker 1Miles Garrett was Miles Garrett. Those are Cleveland Browns. That's what people, everybody. I expected him to go from Cleveland Ohio to Canton Ohio.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1That's all I expected of Miles Garrett. Miles Garrett's a Hall of Famer. No ifs, ands or buts about it.
Speaker 2Yeah. He stops right now he's a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1Very few defensive. They're drafting number one and everybody looks at the draft like fuck yeah that makes sense.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're not wrong If you were to redraft that class.
Speaker 1Myles Garrett would still be number one. Yeah, there's nothing you can do about it. He's that good. Yep, I think this is a ploy of hey, do something. There's nothing they can do Don't waste this second overall pick.
Speaker 2Okay, so you think you should have pushed him into a hard spot here, that they can't make a ploy that makes them better long term? They better do something now.
Speaker 1If you go get the defensive player from Penn State, miles Garrett no, he's gone. If you go get a, I'll be honest with you Shador's not that good. I can't, I can't.
Speaker 2Cam Ward, though they're not going to get Cam Ward though.
Speaker 1At number two. Who's first? Titans?
Speaker 2Titans are going to get Cam Ward.
Speaker 1They're in a picture door.
Speaker 2I don't think they will.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm, they're picking quarterback.
Speaker 2Yeah, the Titans are for sure picking quarterback Right.
Speaker 1And the guy from Penn State he's very, very good are for sure picking quarterback.
Speaker 2Right, and the guy from Penn State, he's very, very good. He's a top five pick.
Speaker 1No, he's staying at Penn State. He's a defensive end.
Speaker 2Oh, you're talking about Abdul Carter. Sorry, I thought you were talking about the quarterback.
Speaker 1What the fuck would I talk about the quarterback? Who the fuck is that?
Speaker 2Drew Aller, who gives a fuck. Yeah, sorry, you're talking about quarterbacking. You're talking about Penn State. I'm like, oh well.
Speaker 1That defensive end is very, very good. Abdul-kart is awesome. Yes, he's a top five pick.
Speaker 2Yeah, he's definitely at least be a top ten pick.
Speaker 1He's very much Miles Garrett-like. Yeah, so the other route you could go.
Speaker 2He's not the physical freak that Miles Garrett is he's closer to? Like what's his face from the Cowboys Michael Parsons.
Speaker 1Again, they're both Coming from.
Speaker 2Penn State. So that's the archetype they like when it comes to their defensive ends, you can't stop the run.
Bengals Ownership Dilemma With Joe Burrow
Speaker 1So beware, so y'all can go the other route. And hey, shop Miles Garrett, he's a first round pick.
Speaker 2They've made. They've made it very clear they don't want to shop him. The GM for the Browns is like hey, we're not. We're not entertaining any type of trades for.
Speaker 1Myles Garrett. But I'm like, what are you doing then? So what are you going to do when your guy is like, all right, cool, I don't want to play Because, let's be honest, everybody's here to watch him play? Yeah, I work with several Browns fans. One of them looked at me and he's like, if they trade Myles Garrett and don't do anything else with those picks, when he's like, if they don't, he's like if they trade Myles Garrett and don't do anything else with those picks, when he's like, if they don't pick a quarterback, I'm not going to watch any Browns games.
Speaker 2They have no reason to.
Speaker 1Myles Garrett only does shit against the Bengals, steelers and Ravens anyway. So, yeah, you're not wrong, you know, but still, if you're going to do this, you keep that second overall pick. Trade Myles Garrett for somebody's first-round pick. Yeah, because he has two years on his deal, Somebody's giving you their first-round pick.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're getting a fleece, the first. Yeah.
Speaker 1Now you go to the Jets, be like hey, I want your first-round pick in Quentin Williams, because Quentin Williams ain't under contract. You don't want to pay anybody else, so you get, pick what? Give them another defensive piece, you take away their defensive tackle, but Miles Garrett's better than Quentin Williams.
Speaker 2I don't think the Jets are in a spot where they're going to have to make a move like that. That's a move. Trading for Miles Garrett is a move you make when, like hey, I'm close to Super Bowl. This thing to get me over top, If you're the Lions, Miles Garrett would be like a piece that you could probably trade for and it'd be like crazy.
Speaker 1They don't have a pick. That's worth shit. The Browns can't draft worth a damn.
Speaker 2That's not. Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 1Y'all need a lottery pick.
Speaker 2They're in the late 20s. There Y'all need a lottery pick.
Speaker 1Like I said, the Bengals are probably the lowest you can go. You can't go lower than 17, right?
Speaker 2Unless they're just gonna give you a lot more more total like just overall picks.
Speaker 1And the Bengals ain't going to do that. They've mediocrely learned how to draft.
Speaker 2And this is where I think the Bengals won't do it, because as much as Miles Garrett is the top-paid defensive end of the league.
Speaker 1I think the Bengals that are very. They're a huge conflict right now because Joe Burrow keeps saying sign T Higgins.
Speaker 2Oh, he said today, Henderson pay him his money.
Speaker 1Yes, it was a couple days ago. He said it to Stephen A we have to keep them together. Yep, we have to keep T Higgins and Jamar Chase. If I'm the bangers of ownership, I'm looking around like, oh fuck, we're about to go broke because if we piss him off we're fucked. Yeah, legit, you can't piss off the one dude that is paid yeah. You can't piss off the one dude that is paid yeah, cause you piss him off and his supporting cast don't wanna stay. And he looks at you like Alright, trade me.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Fuck you gonna do, cause Joe Burrow didn't. Joe Burrow didn't take a Mahomes deal Cause he wanted to.
Speaker 2Oh, no, he took. He took everything he could.
Speaker 1I want my money, yeah, okay, so he's already not Like he don't really fuck with y'all like that, because my home's like I'm gonna live and die in kansas city oh yeah, he signed a deal for that too, joe bro's like yeah, my home's did a deal, my home's- he did a. Patrick mahomes did a very team friendly deal yeah, because I think I trust you.
Speaker 2you're gonna pay me when I want to get paid, when it's time for that hat to happen, but you're also gonna have the flexibility like, hey, when you want to get help, I I'll help you with that too. This is a handshake type of agreement that, hey, we're going to do this together. We're going to do this. I scratch your back, you scratch mine, right.
Speaker 1Joe Burrow looked at what Every dime. Joe Burrow looked at everything else and everything else the Bengals have always done to everybody.
Speaker 2I can't trust you.
Speaker 1This is the exact position. They put fucking Carson Palmer in. They signed him to a shit ton of money. Carson Palmer resigned for eight years and they ended up letting Chad Ochoa sink a walk after two Yep and then gave Palmer no O-line. And then Palmer was like all right, trade me, I'm done. And then you, because y'all drafted Andy Dalton, yeah, so you insult Palmer by drafting a quarterback. Let his receiver walk and he's like I'm gone and the Bengals Are notoriously cheap.
Team Building and NFL Draft Analysis
Speaker 2Oh yeah, they do, they'll sign the one guy they need, thinking like, oh, this will show the fans that we're in on winning. And then they're like, well, they'll go cheap Everywhere else and somebody has to Hold them accountable. And Joe Burrow was doing.
Speaker 1And trying to do so. He watched you be cheap For three years. You're like nope, you're gonna give me my full amount In five years. I'll be 30, and I also have some left in the tank. I can go play for somebody else. Yep, he's telling you to sign all the people he wants you to sign.
Speaker 2You are now stuck at an impasse. I think C Higgins he can get over, but you're not going to sit here and not pay him, or Hendrickson.
Speaker 1You got to pay one of them. Either we're going to have a really good defensive player or we're just gonna go straight defense in the draft.
Speaker 2uh they won't. They're in a draft, mecca abuka like a fucking retards. Uh, I hope not. I want, I want the steelers to do so yarns, you pick 20, yeah 21.
Speaker 1Uh cool. Uh, if they don't sign t higgins, they gotta do something. Uh, because no, they can't go first round defense them niggas can't draft first-round defense.
Speaker 2Just don't go defensive line. They would have to go like corner.
Speaker 1Okay, our last corner that we drafted was Dax Hill Get the fuck away from defense.
Speaker 2Yeah, but.
Speaker 1Never touch defense again. Dax Hill, then Miles Murphy, what are we?
Speaker 2doing what?
Speaker 1are we doing? I can't even remember the other first round pick. Where was one more in between? Was it Chase, dax Hill, miles, murphy, mims?
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, miles, murphy was last year. Yeah, mims was last year. Yeah, mims, last year. Murphy was the year before Murphy was done jack shit.
Speaker 1Dax Hill legit isn't getting re-signed and Mims has been really good. Yes, really good.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1Don't move to the left. Tackle, do not make that fucking mistake. Y'all got to move to the left tackle.
Speaker 1Realize Dan's just slow he has bricks to feed Because we also don't have a left tackle. Orlando Brown's not under contract. Right, we also have no interior offensive line. True, we watch Cam Hayward try to get Joe Burrow all fucking game. Yeah, joe Burrow all fucking game, yeah, all game. He was in the backfield and he did the shit prior. So, look, your star player is like hey, I want these guys. He gave you three guys. You got to sign. Yeah, pick two, pick two, pick two. I understand you can't. You can probably talk Trey Hendrickson down on money. He's an older player. Your problem is you better hope to God you don't win Defensive player of the year or you're fucked. Yeah, cause he's gonna look at you like I'm the winning Defensive player of the year.
Speaker 1Yeah, no question, and this would be Trey Hedrickson's last contract. He'd probably retire After this contract.
Speaker 2Trey Hedrickson is 31 yeah. So you're giving him A four year deal. So you're giving him a four-year deal and he's already. I think he went on the Pat McAfee show and said hey, pretty much the end of this is either you're paying me or trading me.
Speaker 1Yes, that's the two options. So I am excited to see how the next few weeks are going to go, because free agency is coming up fast yeah.
Speaker 2No question about that man.
Speaker 1And they're both unrestricted free agents.
Speaker 2No, I think Henderson still has another year. I'm going to check that just to make sure.
Speaker 1Give me a second. No, Trey Henning's the free agent. We signed him the year after we went to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2Go on to SpockTrackcom. Let me see here.
Speaker 1Trey Henning's been on my team for three years.
Speaker 2He's been on my team for three years. Trans decided one year won $21 million. No, he has one more. It was a contract extension that goes through next year. He'll be a free agent in 2026. So he has one more year left on his deal One more year. But he said like he said you're either going to sign me to a long-term deal or you're going to trade me. So I think he's either going to sign him or they're going to trade him to somebody else.
Speaker 2He's made that very clear and I think he means it. I don't think he's playing around on this one.
Speaker 1Cool, you're going to get the Lions first-round pick. Lions aren't going to trade a first-round pick your other defensive end, broken the match.
Speaker 2There's a lot of defensive ends that are in this year's, in this draft this year. If you want to go that, route.
Speaker 1Are you sure any of them are going to have 17 sacks?
Speaker 2Not to mention if there's going to be Miles Garrett available as much as I love that, what do you have to give them? What.
Speaker 1If you're the Lions, what do they want from?
Speaker 2you Because, again, the is already pretty well built, so how many picks are you going to give him? First and then third, something like that.
Speaker 1Dude, really, it's Miles Garrett. You're going to give him one first.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1They're going to need two. He's under contract still. What are you talking about?
Speaker 2Yeah, you're not wrong. Yeah, you're right. The Browns would not do as much as they don't want to trade him already. You don't want. They are not going to trade him for less than two first-round picks.
Speaker 1He's not worth less than two first-round picks, right? Yeah, it'd be one thing if he only had like one year left on his team.
Speaker 2No, he has two more years, you're not wrong.
Speaker 1I actually agree with that. I agree.
Speaker 2And he's not like. He's on a down year.
Speaker 1He had 14 sacks.
Speaker 2Right, yeah, no, you're not wrong Okay.
Speaker 1Okay, I agree with you. And then you pair him next to Aiden Hutchinson. Dude, you can't.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're not wrong.
Speaker 1No, that makes yeah, no, if the Browns would like. You know, if y'all were to draft a quarterback, y'all could do some things. Y'all could fuck around and go get Chase Young.
Speaker 2I think their only option might be Shador, but Shador's dropping hints all over the place. There's no way that the Sanders family would let Shador go to the Browns. I think they'd cause a fit if they drafted him. So I think they're probably trying to get to the Giants at like three, but I know they're not going to be able to get freaking dude from Miami, kim Ward. Yeah, they're not going to be able to get him. The Titans are going to take him at one, I have no doubt about it. I, kim Ward. Yeah, they're not Going to get him. The Titans are going To take him at one, I have no doubt About it. I've never been More certain about Anything in my life Other than Other than Other than why Dude from the Titans?
Speaker 1Or Levis.
Speaker 2Levis not being A first round pick. My balls hurt when I talked about him.
Speaker 1Alright, Because I was so certain he was not a first round pick. Can we sit back and really talk about that? Quarterback class is garbage.
Speaker 2Well, no, no, no. Levis came out the same year as Stroud. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Levis was no sorry, levis was with. Who was Levis with Pickett?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Pickett Pickett, yes, yes, off a quarterback class, yes, I agree.
Speaker 1And Malik Willis and Matt Corral yes, yes, yes and the one dude that was on the commanders that threw 40 touchdowns and a shit ton of interceptions. Yes, Don't remember his name Sam Howell.
Speaker 2That was that quarterback class.
Speaker 1Awful quarterback class. Yes, Y'all were drafting backups.
Speaker 2Yes, I was one of the teams that drafted such backup and it didn't work out too well for me. No, I agree, it's all good.
Speaker 1I drafted Dax Hill, so you know.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's a mess.
Speaker 1Fucking Dax Hill.
Speaker 2Another piece of news Cooper Cup. The Rams have pretty much told him hey, we're going to trade you, no questions asked. We're trying to get you out of here. Apparently, they don't want to pay him the money that he's due to get paid this year. He's getting paid a lot for a guy of his. He didn't really do a lot this year for them. They have their heir apparent, obviously Poku Nakua. He's that dude and they want to get cheaper. If they're going to keep Matt Stafford around, matt Stafford, he's going to want to get paid. They have to get a little cheaper somewhere. I think Cooper Cupp's the perfect spot. They're going to want to trade him. Oh, the Steelers should trade for him. No, I don't want him Because the money he's getting. I'm not trying to pay a guy like that if he's not going to be able to perform. Cooper Cupps has been injured over the last couple of years. I'm not even saying when he's healthy.
Speaker 1He can't be that guy Cooper Cupps, has been injured his entire career.
Speaker 2He's just been very, but especially over the last couple of years.
Speaker 1He's never played more than 16 games before that.
Speaker 2Yeah, man, he exploded.
Speaker 1The most games he played before that was 12. I didn't know who he was until that year because he had never played a full fucking season Triple count year. If you were the Rams, you were Aaron Donald and no one else.
Speaker 2Yeah, no reason to talk about anybody else other than the Todd Gurley year, where Todd Gurley went insane on the NFL for a year and then he ends up never being healthy again. Todd Gurley was so good Todd.
Speaker 1Gurley walks so Jameer Gibbs can run Todd Gurley.
Speaker 2The way that he plays. I get a lot of that on Jameer Gibbs and it's insane, insane.
Speaker 1You say that, but Todd Gurley Was faster.
Speaker 2Not that, jameer Gibbs. Fuck you. Yes, he was. No, he wasn't Fuck you. Yes, he was. No, he wasn't. No, he was not. Fast, jameer Gibbs.
Speaker 1Stop playing Todd Gurley Like he was Gotten on ice.
Speaker 2You were playing. He was more of a thumper. You are lying, you are lying. You are lying the way I've seen Jameer Gibbs run. I have not seen many running backs that are faster than Jameer Gibbs.
Speaker 1Yeah, todd Gurley, stop playing.
Speaker 2No, todd Gurley's not faster than Jameer Gibbs bro.
Speaker 1You are playing.
Speaker 2And I'm only saying that because I've had a lot of thought into this, because this upcoming draft there's only one running back that I've seen. That gives me that moment of what I feel when I see Jameer Gibbs burst through a hole and I'm like, oh, the sea is parting, nobody's going to catch that man. I hate to say it, but Travion Henderson for Ohio State, because I'd love for him to drop to Pittsburgh in the second round, but he's probably not going to Help me.
Speaker 1Todd Gurley ran a 4.28. Jameer Gibbs ran a 4.36. Todd Gurley was faster. Okay, stop playing with me. That boy, todd Gurley was him.
Speaker 2He may have ran a faster 40, but I think Jameer Gibbs might be faster in pads.
Speaker 1No, todd Gurley was that guy you are playing on that man's name For what he was towards the end of his career. Nah, for four years there was no other running back won. You are playing with that man's name. It wasn't even four years, it was like two.
Speaker 2It was three. He was literally two years, Two years, and then he got hurt during that Super Bowl year, didn't even play in that Super Bowl and then he was never the same after that. Unless I'm totally remembering it wrong, which it's definitely a possibility, I'm not going to see or act like I'm the all-knowing on NFL. His first year he had 1,100 yards, dude what are you playing Okay?
Speaker 1okay, the next year he had 1100 yards. Dude, what do you plan? Okay, okay, uh, the next year he had 12, the next year he had 13, the next year he has 12 okay, sorry, my bad.
Speaker 2Four years, my bad, sorry everything. After that it went down so quickly and he kind of just disappeared. It went. It was like a flash.
Speaker 1He did only play six years it was a and he was gone. Now he was elite for four and a half years.
Speaker 2Okay, fine.
Speaker 1It was a.
Speaker 2Flash in the pan Like a magic trick.
Speaker 1Yeah, but for four years. 17 touchdowns, bro, 17. No fumbles. 17 touchdowns, no fumbles.
Speaker 2You're saying 17 touchdowns, like it's so crazy. I'm like Saquon would have had like's so crazy. I'm like Saquon would have had like 25. No fumbles, saquon would have had 25.
Speaker 1No fumbles.
Speaker 2The push push is crazy, anybody can do it.
Speaker 1Why couldn't Saquon do it? How were his receiving yards Cause the boy?
Speaker 2had receiving yards. I don't think it was as great Receiving yards was 788.
Speaker 1Stop playing with that man dude. Alright, alright.
Speaker 2You're twice 788.
Speaker 1Stop playing with that man dude. All right, All right.
Speaker 2Okay, he had 2,000. My bad, my bad Six receiving touchdowns no fumbles.
Speaker 1Stop playing with that man's name the year after he had 588. 84. You are playing on Todd Gurley right now.
Speaker 2Give him his respect. My disrespect, my apologies, my apologies, my apologies. My apologies, my apologies.
Speaker 1My bad too. This is like the time where I really got into football. Todd Gurley, was that guy coming out? So that's why I was following.
Speaker 2So we didn't talk about this last week because we just forgot the Cowboys. Mccarthy fired. He's gone. He's not going to be coaching this cycle at all.
Speaker 1He's going to wait a year and then come back next year. He's a good head coach.
Speaker 2He's not great, but he's a good head coach that can run a program right. Sure, the Cowboys. Apparently the riff was that they were trying to sign him to an extension. He wanted a five-year deal. The Cowboys weren't willing to, because you know, jerry Jones likes to be cheap when at all possible. And they thought, hey, he can be my whipping boy and you only have to pay him a one-year deal. And sorry, I just literally just said his name.
Speaker 1McCarthy.
Jerry Jones and Cowboys Ownership Debate
Speaker 2McCarthy grew some balls and was like, hey, if I'm going to deal with this, I need five years of guaranteed money, so now you have to pay me if you decide to get rid of me. It doesn't work out. They hired Brian Schottenheimer, which is like a. Apparently his football family is a pretty big family, but in the nfl he really hasn't done anything at all I've never heard that name in my life.
Speaker 2He was the office coordinator for the cowboys, so they just pretty much hired from within. He became the head coach. Cool for an offense. That really wasn't good whatsoever, no it was very dac based.
Speaker 2It was dac thrown to cd land. That was pretty much the whole offense. So you hire that guy. You didn't go hire Deion Sanders. You didn't go like get any to anybody that's worth anything when it comes to like bigger names, because Jerry Jones doesn't want to pay the guy and also more, even more than not want to pay them. Jerry Jones doesn't want any coach that can take away any type of credit that he could get if the team decides to actually go ahead and win anything in the NFL, especially in the playoffs, so like with all, especially in the playoffs, so like with all. That being the case, I think it makes I think this might be the thing because we all talk about how delusional Cowboys fans are I think this might be the one thing that might send the Cowboys fans over the edge. That like hey, we actually don't believe Jerry Jones when he says I'll pay whatever amount of money it takes to go win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 2I think Jerry Jones has been running this whole little gamut on everybody. He wants to do it his way. He wants to make as most money as possible. He wants to be the most interesting team, because the way he's done it the Cowboys are like the most is the highest evaluation of a franchise, a sports franchise in all of sports. They're the highest one. They're number one. Yeah, they're worth the most in all of sports. They're the highest one. They're number one. Yeah, they're worth the most in in all sports when it comes to the most highly valued franchises. Go ahead and look it up, tell me if I'm wrong.
Speaker 2Well, I say this point. I think he wants to do it his way. If he can win a championship doing it that way, it'll be great. But I think, more than anything, he wants to do it his way. He does not want to give it over to a Bill Belichick and have somebody that's actually serious at their job be able to tell Jerry Jones hey, you're not going to sit here and do your own little press conferences after every game, because what NFL owner does that in the NFL besides him? Nobody.
Speaker 2So the fact that that happens and he can do it like he's doing it the way he wants to do it, I think is more important than anything, because he just wants to keep printing money for him and his family, and I think he wants to keep playing with this toy, like when he talks about the Cowboys. He's like when I bought them. I didn't just want to buy them for somebody else to play with it. It's like it's only like a 10 year old goes like if you're a 10-year-old and you get $4 or $5 billion, what are you going to go do? That's what a 10-year-old says. I want to go buy my favorite sports team and run it Like that's what a 10-year-old does. But he's managed to do this for the last 20-something years. $10 billion.
Speaker 1Wow, they're worth $1.3 billion more than the Golden State Warriors, yeah, like. Like 2.5 billion more than the Rams, 2.6 billion more than the Yankees, like. These are established franchises and they're worth more, but they're worse than all of them. Yeah, every team under them has more winning than them. Besides the Jets the Jets and the Raiders the two teams you can take them off the list and everybody else on here has won more than you.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And the Bears.
Speaker 2Yeah. And the Commanders Take those three off, Okay yeah, the Bears have probably won more than the Cowboys. The Bears have a longer history.
Speaker 1Yeah, but the Bears have won even longer ago than the Cowboys.
Speaker 2Right, yes.
Speaker 1The.
Speaker 2Cowboys ain't won in. Almost 50. Cowboys is 25, 90, 95, 96. Bears ain't won shit since the 70s. Yeah, you're not wrong, they were good in the 80s. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1I agree, but like the Warriors have won more than you, the Rams have won more than you. The Yankees blow you out the fucking water.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1The Knicks blow you out the water, the Patriots blow you out the water. Giants, lakers, niners, eagles, fucking Real Madrid. I don't know shit about soccer, but I know they're good. Yes, man United like the Dolphins, texans, celtics, barcelona, goddamn.
Speaker 2A lot of teams, but again they're worth more than anybody. So I think Jerry Jones can look at his bank account and it gives him some solace at the end of the day when they're not winning football games and not winning in this playoffs like they probably should be what the fuck?
Speaker 1I'm upset Every other.
Bengals Financial Struggles and NFL Ownership
Speaker 2NFL team is on here, except the Bengals. Oh, the Bengals ownership is known as the cheapest and poorest ownership in the league. In the NFL, I think they have the cheapest ownership. Pretty much all their money is in the NFL team, Kind of like the Lakers, but the Lakers they're just more popular. So have you found your team yet? Oh boy, he's counting. This isn't good. This isn't good, not good news. He's counting there's 28 NFL teams. This isn't good, not good news.
Speaker 1He's counting there's 28 NFL teams on here the.
Speaker 2Bengals ain't won Dang bro. See what?
Speaker 1There's 28 NFL teams. Which ones are on here?
Speaker 2Let me look it up real quick the.
Speaker 1Bills are not on here. They're not no. Um, they're not no. The Packers are on here.
Speaker 2The Packers are fucking crowdfunded the Bengals are currently franchise their franchise is currently worth 4.1 billion, worth less than the Panthers Franchise is currently worth $4.1 billion. We're worth less than the Panthers. That's hilarious. That's very funny. Holy F, man, no wonder that's crazy. No wonder your owner don't want to pay nobody, they're not getting no money. Holy F, that's crazy.
Speaker 1And we're worth how much 4.1. We're worth less than the bills too. They're worth 4.2 Oof.
Speaker 2Some mistakes were made, huh.
Speaker 1This nigga's broke, he's broke. Some mistakes were made. Huh, this nigga's broke, he's broke, broke. He ain't nothing but a broke boy. Boy, boy boy Fucking trust fund baby. He just walked into a team.
Speaker 2He really did Like. His dad bought the team and then he just got it inherited to him. He got it inherited to him and that's pretty much it. And he's running to the ground ever since. Ain't that awesome Dang? I Is it crazy? That's pretty much it. And he's running to the ground ever since. Ain't that awesome Dang? Is it crazy? I almost feel bad for him now. No wonder he's penny pitching. This is all he got. He pays too much money to one of those players. He may not be able to pay his mortgage.
Speaker 1The Bengals are the 32nd most valuable team in the NFL.
Speaker 2Well, there you go. That makes a lot more sense there.
Speaker 1The Lions also weren't on the list, by the way.
Speaker 2Yeah, but they're owned by the Ford family, though they're actually rich, yeah, but the Lions themselves weren't on the list. The.
Speaker 1Lions ain't worth that. The COO of Ford's probably worth more than the Lions are. Yeah, but the Lions ain't worth that. Okay, fine, the Falcons also were not on there.
Speaker 2Yeah, but that owner's actually pretty rich too.
Speaker 1Again, he's worth a lot. The Falcons are not. Okay, yeah, makes sense, that's 30. That means there was two other teams not on that list. Fucking Cleveland was on that list. What the fuck.
Speaker 2Let's see. Is there any other stories? While you're sitting there still racking your brain on that, sanders Chiefs, adam Thielen's going to come back and play in 2025. After he apparently mulled retirement, which I get, I think he's, you know, with so much losing to be doing in Carolina over the last couple of years. Maybe he might choose to sit there and, you know, not, go back and do it again, even though I will say the Panthers did look a lot more lively there in the second half of last year, so maybe it gives them a little bit of reason to come back and try to do some things more and try to build up.
Speaker 1Three teams weren't on the list. Okay, I was wrong, it was 29. Okay, it was the Bills, the Lions and the Bengals.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1The Bengals are worth 4.1. The Lions are worth 4.18. The Bills are worth 4.2.
Speaker 2There you go.
Speaker 1They are the least valuable franchise in the NFL, no wonder.
Speaker 2No wonder Penny pinching like crazy.
Speaker 1He is struggling.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1A quarter of his net worth is being paid to Joe Burrow Yep, because his net worth is the team's net worth.
Speaker 2Yeah, Insane, so he net worth yeah Insane.
Speaker 1So he's broke.
Speaker 2Yeah Well, he's not broke broke, but outside all of his money is sunk into the team, but he's lower upper class?
Speaker 1Yeah, he would have to be. He ain't worth shit.
Speaker 2There's some real billionaires in the room that he has to go in. When they go to the owner's meetings in the NFL, the Steelers are 17.
Speaker 1The Browns are 19. The Ravens are 22. Oof, the Steelers have been owned by the same family for fucking years, yeah, and the Browns? Same shit with the Browns.
Speaker 2My bad no the.
Speaker 1Browns. They got bought. The Browns were owned by the same people that started the Ravens.
Speaker 2Yes, and then they sold.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Somebody bought. It was the. Why am I bringing that name? It was the same guy that owns the freaking Columbus crew. Now they bought. He bought the Because he used to be part of the Steelers ownership and then he ended up buying the majority stake of the.
Speaker 1Browns.
Speaker 2I don't know why I'm forgetting the owner of the Browns name now, but I know the fact that he used to own a part of the Steelers. That's how he got into NFL ownership and then he ended up selling his share of the Steelers to go buy the majority share of the Browns and then now he owns the Browns and the Columbus Crew.
Speaker 1Browns.
Super Bowl Showdown
Speaker 2I just want to make sure I get the name, because I end up saying all these facts about the guy. May as well get his name right. Oh, jimmy Haslam, that's his name. That's his name. That's the guy. That's it on that. So we've talked about a bunch of NFL news. There's really nothing else I really wanted to talk about. So let's go and get to the big game. Do you know, when you're doing advertisements and stuff, everybody else has to call it the big game, except for Pepsi and then the NFL rights. I think nobody else can really use Super Bowl when it comes to all of that. So again, I'm going to put Super Bowl in the title for this, because we're not making any money. What are they going to do to us? There's zero. There's. Go to us for zero of zero, like half of nothing is still nothing. We're doing this because we like the fans, and we do, and we'll have fun doing this. So let's talk about the game Sunday. This game's happening Eagles, yeah.
Speaker 1Eagles.
Speaker 2Yeah, eagles, and you got the Chiefs. What you thinking for the game man? What you thinking let's just go at it from. Let's just take it from both sides here, let's start with each side and we'll just go at it from what the you know, just main takeaways 32, bro, 32. I know You're still tweaking out a little bit over that. Yes, yes, yes, I knew it was bad. I didn't think it was that bad, but then as soon as you kind of look into it, it's like oh we are legit A poverty franchise.
Speaker 2Like I'll start you jump in when you, when you're, when you're ready yeah, type shit all right chiefs.
Speaker 2I'll start with the chief side here. Chiefs coming in 15 and 2, they don't need to do they've. They've skated by all year. They've had all by all year. They've had all these close calls. They've had all these close call games and then got help either to due to what people like to say, the refs helping them out, which I think in some cases there's a point to be made there. Others, I think it's just the Chiefs being great and Patrick Mahomes turning on when he needs to. They've great and patchwell holmes turning on when he needs to. They've gone through all their, their wide receiver issues. They lost pacheco for part of the year and they've endured it all and their defense has been very good throughout the whole season, even with their secondary probably missing on, like I think duffy got hurt at the start of the year and he's been pretty much out all year and he'll be back for this game specifically.
Speaker 2So like their secondary was a little bit hurt throughout the year but they've endured through it all. They've got through it all. They're 15-2. They're here at the Super Bowl led by their best player, probably the best player in the NFL, probably one of the best players of all time already Pachma Holmes, three-time sorry, four-time Super Bowl winner. I think he's a three-time MVP already and they're coming in pretty much looking for the three-peat. They're back-to-back champions already. They're trying to go for the third, be the first team in the NFL history to ever do that, to actually finish off the three-peat. You have the Eagles coming in. They're 14-3.
Speaker 2From the start of the year, based on how they finished last year, everyone's like, hey, what's wrong with the Eagles? They go sign Saquon Barkley before the year starts and they're like, oh, saquon's great. The Giants are super for letting him go, but does he turn you into that team that can get back to the promised land that they once did? Three years ago well, sorry, two years ago, when they went all the way to the Super Bowl and faced Patrick Holmes the first time. And that's exactly what's happened. Saquon has now had a tooth that like a 2,000 yard season. He almost broke the regular season record for most rushing yards in the season. He ended up giving up that just to help the team. In the last game of the year he didn't play when he could probably could have played against the Giants, broke the record and all that they decided not to. Because of that, saquon has come out hot. They're in their playoff games. Saquon's been an absolute monster. It's a couple like 150, 200 yard games he's had in the playoffs and he's looking his freshest. He's been all year.
Speaker 2Jalen Hurts everybody's talking trash about him all year and I think in the moments that they've been giving him opportunities to go ahead and throw the football, especially as of late, he's done well, like last game, like they threw the football over the place and they were able to do some very good things he, like Jalen, does. I think his biggest asset right now is that Jalen doesn't make the big mistake that's going to ruin a football game for you. He's not making those mistakes right now. Are they using him as much as they did a couple years ago when they faced the patch one was the first time and, like it was, the offense was so centered around Jalen Hurts? Probably not.
Speaker 2I think the Eagles settle it, settled in on their on their formula for winning football games is very Saquon centric and I I think they really held onto that for most of this year and they come into this game with Saquon being their best player. But I think if they do manage to have to rely on Jalen hurts a little bit more to win this game, they probably can and I think he will be able to play well and not make the big mistakes in the in the in that moment, because to help him out they have aj brown, they have uh davante smith, they have dallas goddard one of the better tight ends in the nfl and their offensive line is absolutely amazing. They're great at run blocking. They're probably not as good at pass blocking they're run blocking but they're still awesome. Um, the tush push is one of the most unstoppable plays in nfl history. They're still using that, even with Travis Kelsey Jason Kelsey retiring after he retired last year. Their center they're all pro center ended up retiring. They're still doing the exact same thing and they're coming off this last game against Washington where Saquon ran for 200 yards and he'd absolutely destroyed them and their defense is absolutely a monster.
Speaker 2I think starting the year, people worried about how good their defense is going to be. They drafted a couple young guys Cooper Dejean, quinion Mitchell and they really kind of started out young to start the year. They started off struggling a little bit but as the years went along they've been absolutely getting better and better and I think they turned really into a really a lockdown group. Jalen Carter the defensive tackle for them is absolutely awesome. He's been practically unstoppable, especially throughout this little playoff run here.
Speaker 2He is sick with an illness. He didn't make the media day because he's sick with some type of illness was going on around the locker room. Hopefully he'll be able to play on Sunday because without like hit he is like the most unstoppable force that this Eagles defense has, especially on that D line, and I think they're going to be without N'Kobe Dean. So they definitely need Jalen Carter to be able to wreak havoc up front, because I think one of the weaknesses of this Chiefs team is their offensive line. I think Joe Tooney the guy they switched, they pushed out to go play left tackle he's a very good player.
Speaker 1But is he a tackle?
Speaker 2Not really, but again, that takes away from the interior offensive line where Jalen Carter is being there causing a lot of havoc. So I think if you can get a lot of pressure on Patrick Mahomes, that is where you're going to be able to make a big difference in this game. Because even with the Chiefs not having all the great wide receivers they probably have and Travis Kelsey not necessarily being the player he once was and I'm not going to sit here and say, like Travis Kelsey, I say this now and Travis is going to come out on the Super Bowl and like, have an amazing game and have 100 yards and play absolutely like a monster.
Speaker 2So I'm not going to sit here and guarantee that he won't necessarily necessarily be that guy. So I'm not going to sit here and guarantee that he won't necessarily be that guy. So I just think if we had a now, you can kind of get into it, because I've been rambling on here for a minute.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm just waiting for you to give me a reason why all the Eagles should win, and why they're going to lose.
Speaker 2Yeah, I know If we could just make this a very rudimentary, if we could just kind of separate this out by position. I'm going to give it to you. You just tell me Chiefs or Eagles, and this is what's going to make me so insane about how this is going to go.
Speaker 1Quarterback Chiefs.
Speaker 2Running back.
Speaker 1Chiefs.
Speaker 2Huh, it's not Chiefs. I didn't stutter Eagles, have better running backs.
Speaker 1I didn't stutter, nigga, you asked me to do it. Chiefs, I didn't stutter. Eagles, have better running backs. I didn't stutter, nigga, you asked me to do it, so let's do it.
Speaker 2Eagles, it's running back.
Speaker 1Whatever you want to say, you asked me to do it, so let me do it.
Speaker 2All right Offensive line.
Speaker 1Chiefs.
Speaker 2Tight end Chiefs Defensive line Chiefs. Secondary Chiefs.
Rigged Game and Mahomes' Superpower
Speaker 1Linebacker, chiefs, refs Chiefs, them niggas win this game. Can we stop? What the fuck are we doing? I'm not even betting this game, cause it's not worth it.
Speaker 2I'm gonna parlay it to death. Go have fun, nigga. I'm gonna at least do a little bit of a thing for the Eagles to win.
Speaker 1I haven't bet in weeks cause I'm like, fuck this shit, I'm done. I at least do a little bit of a thing for the Eagles to win. I haven't bet in weeks because I'm like, fuck this shit, I'm done. I'll tell whatever you bet, bro.
Speaker 2I'll have one big bet for you to tell me yeah, I got you Whatever you want, bro.
Speaker 1I'll even stop by the house, so you can show me the bet Just for this shit not the hit Because you know why.
Speaker 2I'm not going to tie up who wins in my bet. By the way, the story's set in stone.
Speaker 1The script was written.
Speaker 2The game was written from the start. Are you going to go for this? The script is written. I don't think that's the case.
Speaker 1You ever seen a team win every game by three?
Speaker 2Look, it's like they're doing really good at it. Man, you ever seen a quarterback?
Speaker 1not outplay any other quarterback all fucking year and still win.
Speaker 2He doesn't win at matters.
Speaker 1He didn't outplay Joe Burrow. He didn't outplay Lamar Jackson when they played. He didn't outplay Josh Allen when they played. He outplayed Lamar Jackson when they played. No, he didn't. Lamar had more yards, lamar had more touchdowns, and yet the Chiefs still won by three. So explain something to me he didn't have more yards Than Jay.
Speaker 2Herbo.
Speaker 1He didn't have more yards Than Josh Allen. He didn't have more yards Than any fucking quarterback. He played this goddamn year. Yeah, how the fuck'd.
Speaker 2You win by three. In every game you gotta win. In a situation of football, when the moment arises, are you gonna do what you have to do? Oh, so the flag went your way, and I think Mahomes apologist right now, don't do this to me, don't make me have to stick up for the Chiefs.
Speaker 1My nigga they called Ruffing the passer on Trey Hendrickson, when Trey Hendrickson never got near the nigga's head, didn't even land on top of him.
Speaker 2Oh, they also did it to What's-His-Face for the Texans. Yeah, they did it to him too in the playoff game, like he didn't touch his head at all. Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it. No, I do. So you're telling me these niggas ain't been helped by the refs all year.
Speaker 2I'm not going to say they didn't do it all year. I'm not going to do it all year.
Speaker 1My nigga, you've watched most of these games. Stop Like they're not Okay. Okay, they're doing everything they have to do in a football game. You say taking advantage of it. During the Bengals game, guess how many flags were thrown? How many? Nine, Okay. Guess how many were for?
Speaker 2the Bengals.
Speaker 1Seven, you're too low, it was eight it was a holding call on the Chiefs. Okay, I'm sorry. You're telling me Trey Hendrickson had three face masks, but every time we zoomed in this nigga's hands were on his side. You're telling me Cantillabrit had several pass interferences. I don't even know the nigga he's covering.
Speaker 2Understand me when I say this.
Speaker 1Okay. Okay, the game was rigged from the start. The Eagles don't win this game. They're so much better than the Chiefs.
Speaker 2They're a better team and they're going to implode somehow. The only thing I really question where I can make a case it's a major gap in what the team is and it goes towards. The Chiefs is quarterback. Yeah, that's it. The Eagles have a better running back. Obviously it's Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 1They have a better offensive line yeah.
Speaker 2They have a better defensive line.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2They have better wide receivers. Yeah, they have a better secondary.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I think their linebacks probably aren't better than the Chiefs.
Speaker 1I'm watching fucking Jordan dude, there's jack shit they can do about it. Right, there ain't shit you can do about it.
Speaker 2And it's just Chiefs like Mahomes every single time. I think that's probably his superpower at this point. I think his superpower is whatever the game needs, he's going to be that.
Speaker 1Even in an off year, it's still his, but his year.
Speaker 2I. There's nothing you can do about it. He's just so good man I like. It's just. It's become very tom brady like, and it makes me sick because we were messing around with tom brady for so long and we thought, when tom brady retired, like, oh, it's time for everybody else to have fun, and then my homes took over again. You had your moment at least, but it seems like nobody else is going to get one, and that's the part that makes it suck for everybody. Obviously, you're a lot far closer than I am.
Speaker 1Am I, Is my team as close to a rebuild as they are to a fucking Super Bowl? Lie to me and say I'm wrong. What are we without Tee Higgins?
Speaker 2Jamar Chase and Trey Hendrickson, so Joe Burrow. So that's a heck of a start in a way that the Steelers don't have.
Speaker 1Name three defensive players outside of Trey Hendrickson right now.
Speaker 2Miles Murphy.
Speaker 1Three, give me three.
Speaker 2Dax.
Speaker 1Hill Starters. Give me three Dax Hill Starters. Give me three starters. Let's do this. Give me three starters, oh, sorry, battle Jordan Battle. Not a starter. He's still sharing, he was still sharing time all year.
Speaker 2Okay, let's go with. Oh Hilton T-Y. Sorry, not a starter. Hilton, mike Hilton, not a starter. Yes, he isilton.
Speaker 1Not a starter. Yes, he is. Nope, he was not the starter.
Speaker 2He was your starting equal corner.
Speaker 1No, he's not. He was the backup. It was DJ Turner, he was the starter.
Speaker 2I thought DJ Turner was the other corner.
Speaker 1It's DJ Ivy Boy Turner's, the one from Michigan. He was the starter. He got hurt, not a starter.
Speaker 2Go ahead, give me three of them. I got nothing, then I got nothing, then I got nothing.
Speaker 1Oh, okay, give me three starters On the offensive side that aren't Joe Burrow, jamar Chase or T Higgins Orlando Brown. Okay, now give me somebody that aren't Joe Burrow, jamar Chase or Tee Higgins Orlando Brown. Okay, now give me somebody that's signed in the contract still.
Speaker 2He's not. Let's see Yosivas.
Speaker 1Okay. Yeah, he's in the gallery of receivers Sure. Now say his name correctly, josivas yeah.
Speaker 2His name is Andre Iliasovas. Okay, andre Iliasovas. My bad, my bad, my bad. English is hard sometimes it's because it's not. Let's go with other offensive. Oh Brown, chase Brown, okay.
Speaker 1There you go. He was sharing carries, but yeah, I'll give it to you.
Speaker 2He was still the starting back.
Speaker 1After Moss got hurt, he was still sharing carries for seven years.
Speaker 2Yeah, it doesn't matter, he was still. He was still the first running back. That was out. There was Moss every time. There was no question about that. Sorry, brown was the first was out. There was Moss every time. There was no question about that. Sorry, brown was the first one out there, not Moss.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2And then that's the three, that's the three.
Speaker 1You gave me two.
Speaker 2Trent Brown your other tackle, but he ended up getting hurt.
Speaker 1So he started, he was your other tackle, but he ended up getting hurt, so he started.
Speaker 2He was your other starting tackle. He was your right tackle.
Speaker 1No, he didn't play a down for the Bengals.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're right, he didn't play, okay. And then the guy from Georgia.
Speaker 1Not a starter.
Speaker 2Yes, but he ended up starting by the end of the year. Don't do that.
Speaker 1Give me his name.
Speaker 2He started 16 games. Give me his name, I don't remember.
Speaker 1Oh, okay. So what the fuck are we talking about?
Speaker 2Look, I'm just trying to. This is about the Chiefs and the Eagles right now, man, about the Chiefs and the Eagles.
Speaker 1My nigga, this is a foregone conclusion. I'm not going to go for the foregone conclusion. Okay, my nigga, when they're down somehow, when the Chiefs are down by 47 at the end of the second quarter and they're suddenly up 31.
Speaker 2I got to keep fighting. I got to keep fighting this fight because I don't want to sit here and go through another three-peat. And now it'll be the Chiefs world. We're just living in it.
Speaker 1It's been like that for the last two years. When the Bengals didn't make the playoffs, there was no fight to be given.
Speaker 2No, because the Eagles we knew. I knew.
Speaker 1Look at me. I knew Allen couldn't do it.
Speaker 2I knew Lamar wasn't going to make it. Stop lying. The Eagles are a better team than all those teams. They can do it, the Eagles can actually get the job done.
Speaker 1So the great conqueror was supposed to be Josh Allen. I knew better.
Speaker 2In the AFC? Yeah, nobody is up for the challenge, I agree. Okay, the Eagles are good enough everywhere on their team where they can actually get the job done.
Speaker 1We had the same conversation with the Bills. They just have to finish it. We had the same conversation with the Bills.
Speaker 2What are we doing? I know, but the Bills aren't nearly the team that the Eagles are All right, bro.
Speaker 1Let me shake your hand. You're Okay, okay.
Speaker 2Can you just get out of the doom and gloom for just a second?
Speaker 1I'm going to have to watch this nigga propose Taylor Swift at the end of the game and I'm going to shoot myself. Mom, this is wilder.
Speaker 2by breaking the law we're all going to have to watch it. I have no doubt about that. If they win this game, I'm like I'm not going to watch this game.
Analyzing Eagles vs Chiefs Matchup
Speaker 1I have to work at 6 in the morning. I'm not going to watch this game.
Speaker 2Okay, if you could just out of the blue, just be analytical for a second.
Speaker 1I'm not giving you a score.
Speaker 2No, not a score. Okay, if you just give me a scenario where the Eagles win this game, how do they do it? They don't.
Speaker 1I do not see one. Do you know why the Chiefs are a better team? You can't say they're not. I've seen them beat them before. I've seen them beat the Eagles.
Speaker 2Yeah, the Eagles are better now than when it happened last time. They're much better now. Their defense is so much better. The Niners were better too.
Speaker 1That'd mean shit to the Chiefs.
Speaker 2Just another pack. Yeah, the Niners choked themselves out at the end of that game. They gave up the game.
Speaker 1I think the Eagles have a team that could potentially finish the job.
Speaker 2Okay, we said that two years ago, yeah, but they're better now Okay.
Speaker 1Whatever you want to say.
Speaker 2My boy. I just want to believe. I just want to believe in something. Is this what the reign of.
Speaker 1Jordan felt like, Because if this is what this felt like, I would have killed myself. I wouldn't have been able to do it, Especially if I was like the Knicks and I have to watch this nigga beat us every year. I'd end it. If I'm a Bills fan, if I've been a Bills fan since I watched them lose four straight Super Bowls and I've now watched them lose four straight AFC championships- I'd switch teams.
Speaker 2Do you know what some people have made? The claim that why people hate the Chiefs so much Is because the Chiefs a lot kind of like because when the Spurs had their dominance right, nobody hated the Spurs. I think it was more indifference, because the Spurs didn't make any trouble, they just played basketball and went home. Right, they're boring, but they weren't like, they weren't winning enough to where it was a big problem. Right, they had their moments where they really spiked up and started winning, but the people got to love them. They were the lovable winners, right. And then you don't have the crazy dominance like Jordan, because it was so dominant that nobody had anything to say. And crazy dominance like Jordan because it was so dominant that nobody had anything to say and it was beautiful to watch him play basketball.
Speaker 2Some people are making the claim that, for the Chiefs, the reason why everybody hates the Chiefs now, at least especially during this three-peat is that they are not an exciting football team anymore. They are doing it in the, in the, in the most boring and the most boring way possible. So now when people are watching this team, they think like, oh, this team is not good, and then it makes them believe that they should be losing when they're actually so good and that they, they should end up winning. That's the part that makes me kind of worry, like I'm, like I don't. I don't think I have that type of feeling about this team.
Speaker 2I don't think they're just a boring team, actually. No, they are boring. No, no, no, no. They're a boring team to watch. They're not hot flying. They don't score a bunch of points, they literally do. They come into a game like, hey, can we do just enough to win this football game? That's exactly what they do. I do think there is a little bit of credence to that that if they were just blowing everybody out, I think would give people a lot more, a little bit more solace, because the referee calls wouldn't matter as much. What you're talking about earlier is like, hey, they didn't win every game by three points and they won them by 20. Then you can get behind the idea like, oh, maybe the referees didn't matter because they were blowing you out anyway they're that much better than us.
Speaker 2There's a difference but, but, man, I just I get the idea of inevitability, because it happened last year during the Super Bowl. It happened the year before during the Super Bowl. It feels inevitable, I do. I am no longer I just want to keep fighting the fight. I just want to keep fighting the fight.
Speaker 1There is no fight without Joe Burrow. I'm going to keep it 100% with you. Everybody can say what they want about Joe Burrow. Y'all can say what you want about the Bengals. None of y'all even gotten close, none of you gotten close.
Speaker 2I'll give you this Is that if the Eagles don't win this one, I will be more on your side about this than anything. Because if the Eagles that are this much better than this Chiefs team at every single position, they're so much better than everywhere else other than quarterback, that if the Eagles can't get this job done, then I really do think it's just going to be inevitable. It would take somebody to outplay Patrick Mahomes quarterback-wise for him to lose Super Bowl again. Yeah, this is the last chance. This might be the last chance, and then I'll just, like you know, be totally dead inside and just be waiting for the Steelers to do something someday. But no, I just want to keep fighting this fight. This will be the fight, the last fight that I like. Really give me some hope that I really do think the Eagles can pull this off. I really do. I really think they're a good enough team to do so. But in the back of my brain I know there's that inevitability fact that, hey, if the Eagles don't put this Chiefs team in the dirt and beat them by a lot and give them a chance, they're going to win the game. That's the part that sucks is that if this game is close at all going into the fourth quarter, I'm going to be head in my hands sitting there like, oh God, no, it's about to happen again. Oh shit, it's about to happen again. They're gonna let them win this game. That's the part that sucks like, that's the part that makes it suck more than anything. And referee calls are not. I think that's how this chiefs team has played all year. That's how they've been the last couple years and I just think it makes it just so much more. It's so much more of a defeating feeling, um, by comparison, as if they were just beating everybody by 20, 30 points. So I don't know, in this game I'm going to go.
Speaker 2Let's see what's the over-under. Over-under is 48 and a half. The Kansas City Chiefs are a one-point favorite in this game, so it's pretty much a pick-em Without being a pick's. Still a one point pick them is either way. I don't know. I think the game probably goes over 48 and a half. I think both these team is too good.
Speaker 2I think defensively, I think Philly probably score like can get enough. Stop just a couple times. All you need is a couple stops. It'll give the. Give the Eagles a chance.
Speaker 2I think Saquon Barkley's to come out and show out in this game. I think he's going to play very well. I don't think the Chiefs can I don't think they have the bodies on the defensive line against that Eagles offensive line to stop the running game. If the Eagles really stick to it and I think the fact that Jalen Hurts can come into this game not needing to be the most he doesn't need to be a superstar, he just needs to make the plays that are there and keep them in front of the chains and keep leaning on Saquon. There's nothing to save Saquon for for the rest of the year. This is the last game of the year, so I think that they're going to lean on Saquon. Jalen Hurts is going to make plays. They need to. They have great wide receivers. I think the Philadelphia Eagles defense is going to make a couple plays here or there to kind of keep the Chiefs from being able to get ahead or just keep the game close.
Speaker 2I'm going to go Philly wins the game 28. Eagles win the game 28-20. 28-20. I'll go Eagles 28-20. No, I said over Dang, oh dang, because they'd have to win by more. It can't be a touchdown. If it's a touchdown game the Chiefs win. I'm going to go Eagles 32-21. There we go, 32-21 Eagles. That's what I'll do. That's the score I'll pick. You're not going to pick a score for this, nope, you're just going to say Chiefs win.
Speaker 2Not wasting my time it's inevitable Chiefs are going to win the football game. Okay.
Speaker 1We've done this song and dance with this team before.
Speaker 2We have. It does suck. It really does take all the fun out of it because you're like, hey, there's an impending inevitability to it. That does suck.
Speaker 1Agreed.
Speaker 2But I'm going to fight this fight one more time before I fully jump on the J-Span wagon and just be ready to off myself by the time this playoffs start every year as long as the Chiefs are involved. So this is the last fight I'm willing to fight. I'll fight this fight and hopefully it works out. I'll make my bets, um, and I'll try to have some fun with it, even if even if I know this could just end with me being sad again heck, a lot of the country being sad again because the chiefs just take all the fun away from everybody else. So, all right, again. This feels like two. This feels like two years ago Funny how we were asking the Eagles to try to get the job done against the Chiefs team once again. So, all right, we've had a decent podcast today. I'll leave that for next week. I know Jason doesn't like to hear about Ohio State stuff. He maybe took off my Ohio State hat when I came into his house. It's insane.
