Does the NBA All-Star Game Matter and Recapping the 2024 NFL/CFB Season
Can an All-Star Game still captivate when the players themselves seem indifferent? This episode we tackle the elephant in the NBA's court: the All-Star Game's fading allure. With recent events showing a lack of competitive fire, even as standout moments like the 2020 tribute to Kobe Bryant shone through, we're left pondering the future of this once-celebrated event. Kevin Durant's candid suggestion for serious reform—or scrapping it altogether—leads us into a wider conversation comparing the NBA's struggles with the steadfast charm of MLB's all-star spectacle. We also touch on Mac McClung's surprising dunk contest performance, illustrating the passion missing from some of his NBA counterparts.
Switching gears, we dive headlong into the football frenzy that never truly stops. Even amid the NFL's off-season, there's no shortage of drama, from the contrasting strategies of the Eagles and Chiefs to musings on hypothetical Super Bowl outcomes. Whether it's dissecting the Bengals' challenges in crafting a defense to match their offensive prowess, or reflecting on the thrill of attending a live NFL game in the frosty embrace of Pittsburgh, our conversation keeps the football spirit alive and kicking. And yes, we even find time to plan our next epic lightsaber build at Disney World.
As we wind down, the episode takes a more introspective turn. We journey through our personal highs and lows of the past NFL and college seasons, spotlighting Ohio State's championship run and the unexpected triumphs of teams like the Vikings and Washington. The narratives of disappointment, like the Cowboys' injury-plagued season and the Bengals' defensive letdowns, remind us that unpredictability is the essence of sports. With tales of travel planning and adventurous drives thrown into the mix, we wrap up with a nod to the enduring camaraderie and excitement that make sports an unstoppable force in our lives.
Welcome back to the Wichita Podcast. Today is Wednesday, February the 19th. We're back with the podcast.
Speaker 2:We back. We're back together again. How many episodes have been just me doing it by myself? Just two Been, two weeks Again. It's felt like a lifetime.
Speaker 1:It's been so long, I love that I've been sick for three weeks lifetime. It's been so long I love that.
Speaker 2:I've been sick for three weeks. Again you've been sick, I was sick. It was a whole myriad of things. Is it myriad or myriad? Myriad, is it myriad?
Speaker 1:No, it was myriad, it's myriad.
Speaker 2:It's myriad. Okay, were used to, and to the people that have been listening. Anyway, over the last couple weeks we've had a little influx of downloads. We definitely appreciate it, but we're back together and, uh it, even though the football season's over for sure, like when it comes to college football and nfl football, it honestly keeps going on. You have heck. College football is gonna be starting their spring practice, like in the next month or so, yes, I think the next month college football is going to start their spring practices. The NFL keeps going because in the next few weeks next week is the combine in, like, and that starts tampering. Two weeks from now, I believe, is going to be, um, I think, the start of the league year, which means they're going to be start like players are going to start to get signed and all that. So like there are still a lot of things that are going on that we're going to be starting, like players gonna be starting to get signed and all that. So like there are still a lot of things that are gonna be going on that we're gonna be talking about. Obviously, probably not enough for us to be doing multiple podcasts a week, so we'll probably go down to doing one a week for here for a bit, until things kind of pick back up later on in the summer, but until then we're gonna keep. We're gonna keep doing podcasts. We keep having fun doing it and shooting the shit, talking, having fun doing it. So we're going to keep going doing a lot of stuff. So if you're listening, welcome, and let's go ahead and get things going here.
Speaker 2:So does the All-Star Game matter, which is the NBA basketball All-Star Game? Because, to be honest, because when I think about it, you say no and I say no too. I could say this by saying I didn't watch a lick of any of it. I didn't know what happened, so you told me I funny his thing, I'm like jay, so does it matter? All he's like it happened when I'm like. This past weekend I did not watch a lick, I watched a little bit of the dunk contest stuff just via clips. I did not watch it in real time and, honestly, I didn't know any about, like the, the format of the all-star game. Because you, you know how they Obviously this will be news to you how they did it. They did the Rising Stars game like they've been doing the last few years on Friday night and then on Sunday, whatever team won, that Rising Stars game goes on to play on Sunday and they split up the teams into eight-man teams, that kind of just. They had a little little tournament style race to 40 points and then you had multiple rounds and then you had the championship game. I think it was LeBron's team ended up winning, I think it was Steph on there uh, steph, uh, kyrie LeBron.
Speaker 2:Lebron didn't play, which that caused its own stir up because LeBron, the day of, announced that he wasn't going to be able to play, which again because it's an ankle injury he's been dealing with. And everybody got mad about that. Because, lebron, why couldn't you have given that spot to somebody else, like like Giannis did, which is obviously something you can do? But I'm about to go down that road because why do I care? I didn't watch in the first place. So I'm not gonna sit here and act like I really care about LeBron playing or not in that All-Star game, because I didn't watch it.
Speaker 2:So my question is with that whole thing? Because apparently the actual basketball is better based on what they were doing, and Draymond Green, before it all happened, was talking about how this all sucks. Having the rising stars being in this game shouldn't matter. They're not All-Stars and I'm just like.
Speaker 2:My whole thought on this is why in the hell does everybody take so much pride in complaining about the NBA all-star game? When the NFL Pro Bowl game happens, nobody gives a shit. You'll have some old heads that are a little bit butthurt about I wish it was like it once was. But the community at large of NFL fans they don't look at it or like, are like mad, like yeah, they're like oh, I wish it could go back, like maybe it's a little like I wish, but like everybody has their fun with it. They watch whatever skills competitions that there are and they kind of let it be. There is no huge uproar of fans complaining about the the pro bowl not being good. Um, again, the baseball doesn't have this issue because their players actually take it seriously and they it's just a baseball game.
Speaker 2:They go play a baseball game. They have fun doing it and they're all try hard like the. Uh. The all-star game for the mlb this past year was awesome. It was very good. I watched it. I was at the gym while it happened. I was watching it it was a very fun time. It was very good game to watch, um and heck hockey. You know what's funny? I think what also kind of led towards this, because hockey was doing their thing.
Speaker 1:It was united states versus canada and they had like three fights, like the first fuck the metric 90 seconds, because the entire stadium booed during the united state the anthem. Uh, when you're? What do they call them? I don't know what the fuck they call them. Your intendant, whatever? Intent, not intent. Intentant, lieutenant, no, whatever. They're fucking not president, the one under him, vice? No, they call them something different. Oh, in Canada.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I don't know, I don't know that dude was there and they booed the entire time, cause this was all in Canada, right? Yes, right, it's not like a couple people.
Speaker 2:And the thing the stuff between Canada and the US Is not good right now Because of tariffs and all that.
Speaker 1:The entire stadium Right. So in the first set Nine seconds, there was three fights. Yeah.
Speaker 2:And then y'all are supposed to be better than us, right?
Speaker 1:So until the day I die, fuck the metric system.
Speaker 2:I think it was already that way, but now it's like a lot more vitriol. Fuck the metric system.
Speaker 1:We go out there and beat Britain in fucking soccer and then we go beat Canada in hockey. Yeah, Fuck the metric system.
Speaker 2:I think having that on top of the NBA All-Star Game doesn't help, because you have some people feeling very good about it, even people that don't even watch hockey, like casual fans hearing about that and seeing how much they care and how competitive it was, and people fighting. I think it just kind of leads to all of it being a much bigger thing than it was and, by the way, with the tariffs and all that, I think it just adds to all the vitriol that happened there. It was the whole thing, but I just think the NBA it's. I think I heard this somewhere, I was listening to a podcast or something.
Speaker 2:The NBA has to try so hard to keep its name in the limelight, right? The NFL doesn't have to try. The NFL has turned into America's pastime. That used to be baseball, baseball. Now it's the NFL. They're taking over. They take over freaking Christmas Day. You have two trash games on, but everybody's watching it on Netflix. All of these things are happening and it's going in the NFL's favor. They're not having to try hard. They don't have that many games. They're trying to add games to try to add to it. Again, people care and they watch it every week. It's appointment viewing.
Speaker 2:It seems like the NBA has to try so hard at everything to kind of stay in the limelight and stay where they're at. I think the NBA is looked at as like the second best sport in the United States, but it feels like, with the things that are happening, like it feels like they're coming from a desperation. They're coming from a point of desperation and I think it leads itself into this all-star game where I think I don't think the all-star game has always been trashed competitively right in the last couple years has been bad a few years ago when it was like the yacht, like uh, I think 2022 was good. 2020 after Kobe died, it was a very good all-star game. It was in um for him and I'm like, but like it's always been a things like hey, as long as you try in the fourth quarter in the games close, then you can have a fun time. But I think, to a certain point, I think players are starting to like not even more, not care about it.
Speaker 2:But I'm just like, if the players don't care and the fans aren't happy with it, why in the hell are we still doing all this to try? And then, when it does happen, why do you have Draymond Green being on the on the call before the game starts, and why is he complaining? It's the player's fault that we're here. If the players want to be respected and, like I want to have this as a sacred thing you treat, you treat it as such right. And that's what the players haven't been doing as of recently, and I think Kevin Durant, while he's on social media days after he's like, hey, if everybody just wants to have more fun complaining about this, we could just not have it at all and let all those players have our break during all-star break instead of everybody just having to do all this.
Speaker 2:And I'm like, first off, maybe that feeds into the issue as to why fans don't feel like the players take the take everything seriously when it comes to doing the best, when it comes for the game. But at the same time, it's it's it's very honest and I think like why, if players care, why, if players don't care, why should fans care? And I'm just like the idea that everybody is so over the top like caring about it. It's just insane to me. I don't care, I didn't care, I didn't find it, I didn't didn't watch a lick of it and I'm like I watch it all in the back end with clips and stuff. But I'm like dame won the three-point contest again like, oh, did you see how? Uh, chris paul and victor women yama, they had like those skills competition where they do that.
Speaker 2:They cheated yeah they tried to skirt the system. I'm like, and everybody's, they made a big deal about that. I'm like, and it was dudes just trying to have fun with the moment. They tried too hard to win and something that didn't matter. What is it what? What is what do we care? Here? And it became a whole big thing. And again we've I I've been saying the last nine minutes how stupid this is. People care, but we've just put nine minutes of talking about why do people care so much? I don't know.
Speaker 1:I just think people it's stupid talking to it, it's stupid.
Speaker 2:What does it matter? It's in the middle of the season, like if you wanted. Like players are still trying to get to the rest of the season, like I don't know it's a whole thing. But again I'll just, I'll just stick to watch the mlb all-star game and just have fun doing that, because nfl and nba just aren't, just aren't kind of doing the right. Weren't carrying their side of the ball on that one, so you know, it is what it is. On that I don't want to go too much more into that.
Speaker 1:Why do I?
Speaker 2:care. Getting rid of it is probably the best way to go right, because I'm just like the way this is going. It doesn't make sense to keep tweaking it, okay.
Speaker 1:I agree, mack.
Speaker 2:McClung, the guy that did the dunk contest. He's very good. Would he be as impressive as he is if he was 6'2 and actually in the NBA? No, I think the whole thing is that the fact that the guy can he's a G League player that they keep bringing up to do this. But again, I have to give him a lot of credit that he comes out. He tries his hardest. He's like when you face him off against the other players, obviously they don't really care to be there and they're not really trying as hard as what you would think they probably would. If they're given these good moments to like become stars, right, what that?
Speaker 2:What the dunk contest used to be was like a, like a platform to kind of start your young career. And the players that were there that nba guys didn't really show up and like really have all that much fire. But mac mcclellan, the last three years has taken to put it on his back and he's he's shown out. He's done a very good job. Again. Maybe he's coming out from a different perspective because it's not like he's going back to an NBA team after this is over. He'll probably go back to obscurity again when he's being on a G League team.
Speaker 2:But again I have to give him a lot of credit. He's very talented at doing what he does dunking the basketball and he he puts on a show. Again, maybe it got a little too much production when it comes to him jumping over the Kia, but he probably got a nice bag for that moment. So I have to give him a lot of credit for doing what he's done the last couple of years. I don't think he could do this forever. I don't think he wants to do it forever.
Speaker 1:He wants to play in the NBA.
Speaker 2:It's not going to happen. He's not an NBA player. No, I think he's realized that. I think he's kind of just done. And again, if they're going to keep asking him and take the bag to do it, as long as he tries hard and he comes out and does his thing he's the only thing that's been working in the dunk contest for years, so just let him keep doing it If no NBA player is going to step up and do anything about it.
Speaker 2:So is, what does it matter to me? And a three-point contest again, I think that one's probably the most fun of all of them. But you know, dame, dame, dollar just kind of shows up and uh, shows out and finishes the job. And he's been, it was steph, now it's dame, and then you know it is what it is. So that that's it. That's it what it is. On that, um, we'll go on to the next thing, because we have plenty else, plenty other things to talk about. Jace, this is for you, since you did not have a chance to react to the super bowl, um, since it, since it happened, I just want to give you the floor. Um, what did you think of the game? Let's just let's start with the the game itself.
Speaker 1:What do?
Speaker 2:you think boring game itself was boring, but you are a, obviously if you've been listening to the podcast for a while. Um, you are a very, very big Chiefs hater. Did it at least give you a little bit of solace there for a bit, thinking that they were going to get stomped out.
Speaker 1:They did.
Speaker 2:You didn't get fun. You didn't have fun watching it.
Speaker 1:Did it get sad for you? Did it become sad? Did you start feeling bad for the Chiefs? No, this is what I expected to happen.
Speaker 2:No, you didn't. Because if, when we picked the game beforehand, what happened? I picked the eagles and you picked the chiefs. My bad, this is what was supposed to happen. I that I think that is probably a more like maybe not that bad everyone believed this was no.
Speaker 1:I believe this is how this game is going to go. If the Eagles are going to win, you can't beat everyone by three and be truly. They were truly better than no one this year.
Speaker 2:You beat everyone by three. They rolled out their helmets and waited for the other team to make the big mistake and they just went out and won at the end with Pachmo Holmes being the hero and the Eagles didn't do that. Eagles did not. They said hey, we're just going to hit you over the head with a hammer and keep doing it over and, over and over again until we think the game is over. And that's exactly what they did. And heck, the game wasn't as close as what the score showed.
Speaker 2:No, Because the Chiefs went off and scored some points there in the end of the third and the fourth quarter when it was practically garbage time at that point, like the end of the third and the fourth quarter, when it's practically garbage time at that point. So I never got to the point of feeling bad for the chiefs and obviously it doesn't sound like you did either. How does this change your perspective on the chiefs as a whole?
Speaker 1:doesn't eagles were the better team. It just kind of is what it is. There's always a better team in every super bowl. This time it was the Eagles. It's just another game. It doesn't change how I think about the Chiefs. I think the Chiefs are a team that's kind of fading a little bit. Your best, your star offensive weapon is old and he showed it in this game.
Speaker 2:Apparently, they gave him a little ultimatum that said, hey, you have until they gave him 30 days or something like that, to kind of figure out whether he wants to retire or not apparently, and if I'm him, he should have retired last year. I don't think you can do two in a row and not come back to try to do the three-peat you have to.
Speaker 1:I completely understand, but he was gassed last year.
Speaker 2:He showed up in the postseason, though he got hurt during the season and didn't play at all.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but did he really? No, he didn't do shit in this game.
Speaker 2:Oh, in this game, no, this postseason, he didn't do anything. Okay, well, that's what I'm saying Apparently they said the stat was if you combine the last two games they played this postseason of his, of Kelsey's production, it does not match the last 20-somethingoff games he's had like it's like he has definitely taken a drop.
Speaker 2:He's like when you watch that game he was not separating no he wasn't doing any of that and I think to a certain extent that was probably the biggest reason why the chiefs offense is sputtered so so much. They don't have an offense. They don't have the go get it guy. Like they a patch, my home is awesome, but when it comes to where their offense was, is that like they have a bunch of gadget wide receiver guys, like rashid rice is probably the closest to like hey, I can win my matchup against my guy without being schemed open, right, but everybody else in their offense is is gadget guys. But kelsey wasn't, kelsey was the I can win my matchup guy. And when you don't have that, especially when you go in a game against this eagles team where they are teeing off on you by only sending four guys, dude, and they're dropping seven and there's nobody- that can win an individual matchup.
Speaker 1:They saw it, it was Braun Braun Braun yeah, zach Braun looked at Cooper Dujun, he's like look at the board. He said they said we have a 33 blitz. He was like we haven't blitzed all the all game and I'm like that's fucking crazy. Didn't blitz at all game.
Speaker 2:And I'm like that's fucking crazy.
Speaker 1:They didn't blitz at all. They didn't all game.
Speaker 2:They got six sacks. You know what, if they only had six sacks, it felt low. But that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:On the board it said that the Eagles are blitzing 33 game. They didn't blitz the whole game. That's how pressured they were getting in.
Speaker 2:With four guys.
Speaker 1:Four guys.
Speaker 2:And again the times when this has happened. It's that game against Patrick Mahomes. It was when Tampa Bay did it to Patrick Mahomes when he had no offensive line then, and then it was the two times that the Giants faced Tom Brady. It's hey, we're going to be able to drop seven and get pressure with only sending four guys, and then what happens is that we're going to have more guys playing defense than you have going out there to try to catch a pass, and when that happened it just like it was a snowball effect that Mahomes just could not. I think that was the first time I ever looked at Mahomes and said he looked overwhelmed.
Speaker 1:I'll be honest with you.
Speaker 2:I don't think he was scared. I think he was overwhelmed. Fuck that, that was scared.
Speaker 1:He's snapping the ball. And bro I— Do you have the camera from behind? Yeah, there was a good 10 seconds. Snap the ball and he goes—.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, he's trying to get the pocket. He don't want to be in the pocket. He didn't trust his offensive line to do anything for him at all.
Speaker 1:It's second quarter.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And Brady said it on air.
Speaker 2:Oh, by the way, brady is awful. Oh, yeah, he's terrible. He's awful the fact that Greg Olsen wasn't on that call biggest Travis he's probably the best in the business and the fact they dropped him for Tom Brady and he's been awful all season.
Speaker 1:It's crazy.
Speaker 2:But Brady's analytical of looking at it as football I did like yeah, but at the same time like he doesn't have any personality.
Speaker 1:No, he's not really good at the whole job sucks yeah but he'd give me football insight on what he's seeing and I'm like, oh, that's really neat. If only you were better at it if only you had some personality I could attach or it didn't just say me, me, me. I'm like can you was a lot of me, me, me.
Speaker 2:It's like oh what would I do? And I'm I'm like, can you? There was a lot of me, me, me. It's like, oh, what would I do? And I'm like, I get it, you're the GOAT. But like, come on, man, you're the GOAT, I got it. Go home, I understand, I understand.
Speaker 1:But he did say. He said Mahomes doesn't trust his offensive line.
Speaker 2:That ball was snapped. It's almost like you can't take a guard and make him your left tackle and expect that to work on you.
Speaker 1:But he's the right. He was right. Mahomes would snap the ball and there'd be angles where you could see his face. He'd look downfield and then immediately be looking at his line.
Speaker 2:He's not even looking downfield. Oh yeah, where is the pressure coming from? Because it's going to happen and it's going to hit me.
Speaker 1:It's going to happen and it's going to hit me and it's going to hurt. I've got to get out of the pocket so I can extend the play. But even if I would get out of the pocket and extend the play, there was nowhere to go.
Speaker 2:Yeah, exactly because there's guys literally sitting there waiting for him to throw the ball.
Speaker 1:When Cooper Dejean got the pick.
Speaker 2:He was just sitting there waiting and Mahomes didn't see him because he was looking at the rush and I'm game plan met up against a chiefs team that is wasn't ready for it to happen. I think they're not.
Speaker 1:They weren't good enough they were never good enough I'm not gonna say they're not good enough. Okay, I think you can put several other teams from the afc this year. They put up a better fight yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2:But I also think that they all those teams, have a chiefs problem that they can't get over. And if you can't get over that chiefs team, with them being at their weakest point, do you deserve to have that moment against the Eagles Even? If you would have a better moment do you deserve to have that moment Again. I gave you this moment because I know this turns into a— All we had to do was beat the Patriots, but Burrow would have done different.
Speaker 1:My nigga all we had to do was beat the Patriots, but again, burrow would have been able to do different, because you can't throw seven out there, you can't put seven guys back there Again.
Speaker 2:you can't.
Speaker 1:Again a different team. Yes, you can't throw seven dudes in the secondary in the Bengals. It's not going to fucking work like that.
Speaker 2:I think you'd get even more pressure because the Bengals offensive line.
Speaker 1:Burrow was not sacked many times.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but even you talked about before this podcast that you said we need guards and that was where they were at their weakest. We need guards when the Chiefs they were getting interior pressure.
Speaker 1:They weren't getting a lot of guys on the edge getting those inside You're right.
Speaker 2:I knew you were going to turn this into Burrow. Would have done better.
Speaker 1:There is not a person. Yet if I can cover Jamar Chase, yeah, but if you could just throw three guys on him, because you have plenty of guys.
Speaker 2:That's again.
Speaker 1:That is all true again we have a different problem, but nickeling, dot nickeling and diming down the field because your bro don't have time all fucking day.
Speaker 2:He's done that for five fucking years I don't think you throw joe burrow in that moment and he would have done much better because of how all the chiefs.
Speaker 1:fuck no on On the Chiefs, fuck no On the Bengals.
Speaker 2:yeah, oh yeah, because the Bengals have wide receivers that you have to be scared of. The Chiefs do not have any weapons. You have to be scared of whatsoever.
Speaker 1:But I'm saying, if you change out the Chiefs for a different AFC team, if you just take the ones in the playoffs, If it was the Ravens or the Bills, it would have been a better game. No, the Ravens would have got fucking shit stomped because they couldn't run the ball. And you want Lamar throwing that bitch? You can run on the.
Speaker 2:Eagles. You can run the ball on the Eagles. Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 1:Again. Then the Eagles rush more than seven, rush more than four, okay, rush more than four, okay Now and the Ravens love doing this in the playoffs let's throw the ball.
Speaker 2:You're not wrong.
Speaker 1:Okay, the Eagles are not a team to throw the ball on, because if there's a team that don't have the wide receivers, it's the Ravens. Yo don't got the wide receivers and your quarterback, ain't that guy?
Speaker 2:I said the game would have been closer. I don't think no.
Speaker 1:I think Lamar has four interceptions. I think they bait him into picks after pick after pick after pick after pick. Lamar's great. He is improved as a passer. I'm going to watch that. Nigga Cooper Dijon have three interceptions and be a fucking MVP.
Speaker 2:So, if that's the case, only the Bills would have been a better game then.
Speaker 1:Fuck the Billsills going to do what receivers do they have they? Have better offensive line though. Oh, that's great. Hey, Josh Allen, throw that bitch. I dare you. You got to transcend this game, Fucked 98 interceptions, zero touchdowns.
Speaker 2:So what? Bills never make it. Oh, so this comes down to the Bengals again. What do you?
Speaker 1:mean bro? What do you mean it?
Speaker 2:was always the Bengals, their defense would have been Cheeks. The Eagles would have scored 70.
Speaker 1:Offensive shootout. What do you mean? Scored 70.
Speaker 2:The Eagles scored 40 against the Chiefs.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because their defense is that good. Jalen Hurt didn't play that good of a game. He played okay. No, he played a good game. How many touchdowns? He had two touchdowns.
Speaker 2:Two passing, one rushing Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1:And was that rushing a tush push? Oh yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2:First touchdown of the game, buddy, so he had two passing and one of Saquon's.
Speaker 1:And that was with Saquon not doing anything. Okay, again two passings and one of Saquon's.
Speaker 2:No, but he didn't have to do a lot. It wasn't like he played badly, he just didn't have to.
Speaker 1:That's what I'm saying. Jalen Hurts didn't do shit, he didn't have to. That's what I'm saying. Jalen Hurts didn't do shit, he didn't have to. That's true. They looked at him when he got the ball. Hey, fuck it up or don't, don't matter to us.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but he didn't.
Speaker 1:It wouldn't have mattered. It wouldn't have mattered. That's what I'm telling you right now. Yeah, but I don't do the same solution they did with the other Super Bowl.
Speaker 2:Let's just keep slinging the football, and then AJ Brown and Devontae Smith would have been doing what they do Exactly, and again it would have been a high-scoring affair.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, it would have been more fun.
Speaker 2:It would have been a more fun game. It would have been more fun.
Speaker 1:You're saying you want closer. The Bengals will get you closer to a football game. What you watched was a bludgeoning. The Bills have less personnel than the fucking Chiefs.
Speaker 2:You're not wrong, it's.
Speaker 1:Josh Allen, go do a thing. Hey, josh Allen, go do a thing and throw it. You got to throw it. You can't run the ball on this team all the time, because they're going to keep hitting you and it's going to hurt, and you know what? He isn't great at doing. Because isn't great at doing? Because you got to be better than your competition and that defense is really good. You gotta be better than them. He's not gonna do that. If he couldn't beat the bangles back in 2023 when their defense was not good, he threw an interception to dax hill he should have been cut.
Speaker 1:Uh, I'm just saying josh allen threw an interception to dax hill, which dax hill took back for almost 80 yards, uh, and got tackled because he's slow. Josh Allen would probably have lost worse. No one can convince me otherwise.
Speaker 2:Again, Josh Allen has not given you any reason to think anything different.
Speaker 1:I understand, but I think Josh Allen would have tried to get outside of himself. I've got to be better. I've got to win the game. I've got to win the game.
Speaker 2:So you're saying the Eagles are just just, it was their title to win. We just didn't know it until it happened everyone assumed they were, they could do it there's a better team. I said it before the game started I agree with you happen.
Speaker 1:I'm like if they were the better team.
Speaker 2:They should, they should.
Speaker 1:I have watched the devil fucking flick that field goal post three inches that way. I swear to god, I did swear to god. I saw it so I couldn't in good conscience bet my life on it. If I was to come to you and bet your life the Eagles win the Super Bowl, you'd go no, no, I wouldn't have Everything in my brain, would have said, hey, the Eagles win this game.
Speaker 2:But in my heart I said before the podcast, on the last podcast before the Super Bowl, you said to me podcast before the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1:You said it to me, mahomes, at the end of the game. I understand what you mean. Yeah, yeah, there was dudes betting everything on the Eagles winning the Super Bowl. I was like you're a braver man than me. I believe the Eagles should win this game.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but in my heart of hearts.
Speaker 1:I'd be a dumbass for betting against him. Yeah, exactly, I've bet against him before it has never gone well.
Speaker 2:It hasn't worked well.
Speaker 1:The only other person I bet against him before was Joe fucking Burrow, and that's my guy. I'd do it again. Any other person, hell no.
Speaker 2:You're right, you have your champion. So, in good conscience, I couldn't do that Right, but to the Eagles' credit. They went out there and did the thing Y'all handled business like I expected. I expected business to be handled.
Speaker 1:Yeah, y'all could have gotten me a couple more bats, but you know you handle business.
Speaker 2:It was most of the Chiefs and Saquon didn't do anything. I actually have to give the Chiefs defense a lot of credit that they went in that game saying hey. Saquon is not going to bang us out in the goalpost and we win this game for them.
Speaker 1:I understand they're like, yeah, we're going to stop the run and nothing else. And you did that. But again, you can do two things. Two things can be correct. You stopped the run and got torched on the back end. Yeah, mcduffie looked fucking lost.
Speaker 2:But I will say, if you take out the pick six that Mahomes threw to Cooper DeGene great play, by the way you know Cooper DeGene had the fastest. He came up the fastest of all season in any play this year A white corner, insane how that happened Take away that play. And then the other pick that Mahomes threw, that's 14 points. That's 14 points you take away from the Eagles. I think at that point the chiefs only gave up like 28 points, and I'm like for most teams only giving up 28 is like, that's like oh, we did our job, the defense did their job.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's good it was. The chiefs offense was so awful against that eagles defense that it just didn't matter I would.
Speaker 1:I would kill for a defense like that to hold, hold my 28 holy shit that.
Speaker 2:That's so right. If the Bengals had that defense, they would have torched everybody in the league this year.
Speaker 1:If y'all could hold somebody to under 30, I swear to God, there would be Avery's games where I'm praying. Under 30, please, under 30, under 30.
Speaker 2:Why am I watching?
Speaker 1:80-point games every week. What are we doing?
Speaker 2:And we still lost to the.
Speaker 1:Patriots.
Speaker 2:First game of the year, buddy. We lost to Jacoby Brissett. We didn't lose to Drake. May Healthy Burrow.
Speaker 1:Healthy Burrow. Full offseason. Full offseason, everything's good. We didn't have Jamar Chase. My bad, no he did.
Speaker 2:He played right when he started the game.
Speaker 1:He had just came back. It was his first game playing. We didn't have T-hicks.
Speaker 2:He still played well.
Speaker 1:He still played good and y'all still let up Too many points. Yeah, no, burrow Didn't have a bad game though.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he had a bad game. That was like A totally bad game. That's why everybody was like what is happening here?
Speaker 1:He had a full off out and throws freaking four touchdowns, next game still loses it to a field goal by the Chiefs. Fuck, I hate football so much but like I, just there's nothing you can do. I also think Josh Sweat Was it Sweat? Yeah, he probably should have won Super Bowl.
Speaker 2:I don't know, I think because the defense was there, was he only? I don't know, I think because the defense he only had two sacks in that game, two and a half, I believe.
Speaker 1:He had 15 tackles. He had like nine pressures. I I'm honest to you.
Speaker 2:I just think the defense, if you can't give it to multiple guys, they had to give it to the guy that had three touchdowns, played a very clean game, but again you just did what.
Speaker 1:You didn't give it to multiple guys. They had to give it to the guy that had three touchdowns, played a very clean game, but again you just did what you didn't. Fuck up. You're not wrong. You could have not scored points and you probably would have still won the game. You could have been terrible and you probably would have still won the game. That's how good your defense was.
Speaker 2:Yeah, if there was a guy that had four sacks in that game, they. If there was a guy that had four sacks in that game, they would have given it to a defensive player, hurts could have played bad. Yeah.
Speaker 1:You're not wrong, and they probably would have still won.
Speaker 2:Yeah, because it would have been my 20 instead.
Speaker 1:Because all you guys would have done Is kept giving the ball to Saquon. Y'all would have ran him. Just ran him 38 times. Yeah, because that? Because Hurts looked bad, y'all ran him that much during the playoffs.
Speaker 2:Hurts was good during the Washington game. He was good last. He was good against Washington as well. He was okay.
Speaker 1:But it was just. Saquon was just spectacular, exactly, but that's the thing Saquon ran the ball 150 yards. And he ran it like 20-something times. So, it's like they were fully prepared to hey. Saquon, you're going to have to bulldoze this game, but the Chiefs took that away and to. Jalen Hurts' credit. He made the plays he had to play.
Speaker 2:He made the plays he had to do. He didn't make the big mistake, like he did in the first Super Bowl with the fumble Agreed.
Speaker 1:But did he play Super Bowl MVP?
Speaker 2:Oh, probably not. But again, that game was such a lopsided affair, it did not lead to a moment where a Super Bowl play had to happen.
Speaker 1:You see what I'm saying. I just think it should have went to a defensive player, maybe For sure. Personally, I think it should have went to a defensive player. I think it should have went to the defense coaching staff.
Speaker 2:Like hey, hey, the whole defense deserves this. Everybody gets to go to the freaking Mickey Mouse, go see the Disney World, disney World. They go to Disney World. Disneyland's in California. They go to Disney World, they go to the labor one. Disney World's the cooler one.
Speaker 1:Is it?
Speaker 2:The one in Florida's the cooler one.
Speaker 1:I don't know, fuck, I just want a little lightsaber.
Speaker 2:Me too, but they're not the nicest lightsabers in the world. They're not, but the fact I get to go in there and build it myself. I'd rather build a droid.
Speaker 2:I'd rather just do both, to spend like 500, and just do both. 500, bro, you can whoa. No, just on those two things you pay 500, not to mention the thousands of dollars you'd take to get there and actually get in the park real quick and all of that and there is to stay somewhere times where I'm like I'm going to drive, I'm not paying for the ticket.
Speaker 1:That'd be one of those times I'm going to eat the cost and drive and save me hundreds of thousands of dollars on the plane ticket, because that's me there, there and back.
Speaker 2:It's a hundred thousand, it's be a couple hundred bucks.
Speaker 1:What time, what time of the year would you go I?
Speaker 2:did Again, that part wouldn't matter. I'm going inside, I don't need to go to the swimming part.
Speaker 1:It wouldn't matter a little bit. It rains in Florida. Again, I'm brain is rain.
Speaker 2:They give you a little to put it in when you make your flavor You're an. Ohioan. So are you? You're more okay with snow than I am? I fucking love snow, so what does it matter?
Speaker 1:It's so expensive though.
Speaker 2:No, it is. No, you're not wrong. It'd be very expensive, but I'd have to at some point. It's just too cool of an experience to not go and experience that?
Speaker 1:Where's it at in Florida?
Speaker 2:Is it in Florida? Is it in? Is it in Tampa? Honestly, orlando, never mind. It's in Orlando because that's where the Mickey Mouse, the Mickey Mouse championship happened for LeBron. It's Orlando, orlando, florida, that's where it is. But yeah, if I had to give you go in like June.
Speaker 1:Now I'm interested.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you probably have to go around there how many days it's, I don't know, but yeah, if I had to give it, you go in like June. Now I'm interested. Yeah, you probably have to go around there. Like how many days, I don't know Again, then you'd have to stay at a hotel.
Speaker 1:And I'm like, oh, that's when things start getting expensive bro, say Friday to Monday, you leave Sunday night, right, right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, heck, you'd still be paying thousands of dollars just in the just in states, like accommodations to stay there and get into the park and then driving there.
Speaker 1:You're gonna spend a few hundred dollars just just in gas on cheapest gonna be 302 dollars just for a ticket to fly, and that's that's actually something, that's spirit for two hours no bags.
Speaker 2:Two hour flight two hour flight no bags.
Speaker 2:No, carry on and have to deal with the anxiety of going up in the air and then have to come back down. That's fun too. I swear I'm going to have to go on a plane at some point and I might have to drug myself just to get through the first time. I feel like if I go through it one time, I swear I'm going to have to go on a plane at some point. I might have to drug myself Just get through the first time. I feel like if I go through it one time I'll be fine, but getting through the first time will be an absolute war. I just know it. Again, I've been on a plane before, but it was when I was a young kid. I haven't been in it as an adult.
Speaker 1:That'll be a crazy time when it happens, because my to to go to places is very high, is very is much higher than my fear. I I am also scared of heights and I'll be honest you, if I'm gonna go on a plane, I'm gonna have to pay for something nice in our economy I need. Like I am a tall man.
Speaker 2:I am well above the average height for most countries I have to go and be like I can't look out the window. The window has to stay closed. I gotta put headphones on.
Speaker 1:I gotta see it, I gotta see it, I'm I'm never gonna be up.
Speaker 2:I am going to be up this once you're up there, yes, but like the, the going up and coming down, I don't want, I need somebody to punch you the face.
Speaker 1:I need to wake up. Oh, my face hurts. I need to not acknowledge I'm in the air yet and I heard this.
Speaker 2:Do you know what actually like when the um, when the plane starts shaking? You know what that is? It's when the plane is going through a cloud and it can't. It like stuff's going on in the cloud so you have like thunder crowds, you have rain forming. It's when the plane is going through a cloud and it's not going well. That's where you get all the plane shaking and all that. I'm like oh, that's scary. Scary because there's clouds everywhere it's cloudy.
Speaker 2:I want to go oh, can't you go below or above them? No, you have to go through oh, okay let alone there's a storm going on and you have to go through storm clouds. Oh, it's crazy. Like that's the crazy part. I'm like, oh, okay, I'd have to see it.
Speaker 1:I want to see what it looks like once you're're up there yes, above the clouds, but going up and going down.
Speaker 2:I don't want to see nothing.
Speaker 1:Because there's going to be times where you're above the clouds. The sight of it.
Speaker 2:I'm going to have to go sensory deprivation mode. I'm going to throw on some dark glasses. I got to see, I got to see Headphones on and then put everything back on.
Speaker 1:Cool, fine, I'm real high I need to go to the bathroom.
Speaker 2:Bomb, bomb, we're going down and next thing I'm getting tied up in the back. That's how it's gonna go.
Speaker 1:Skydiving is one of those things I'd also like to do. My boy, you're too big.
Speaker 2:You're not going to count. Dude, dude. Skydiving is one of those things I'd also like to do. My boy, you're too big, you're not going to be able to skydive.
Speaker 1:That's the only problem is, if I'm going to go skydiving, I got to go skydiving with Shaq. I need somebody who's like twice my size, do you?
Speaker 1:know, most skydivers are actually like really small people, yeah, so it's going much smaller than you to do skydiving no, you have to land and if you're fine, if my skydiving diving instructor is five foot seven and I am all of six foot two, I am 200. Uh, I lost weight because I've been sick, so I'm like 280 or something pounds. Right you? You can't be half my weight, uh it is not. That's how physics works it not because we're going to fall faster. Yeah, exactly Because I am much heavier than you, right.
Speaker 1:And real quick. If you're behind me, there's no way you can see around me. Right and I'm not telling you when we hit the ground.
Speaker 2:I'm probably out.
Speaker 1:Eyes closed or pray to God. Y'all better hope that this, because I think the little pins on me. I have to pull it, Dude, you better hope I can move and I am able to pull it, because if you can't reach around me, we're fucked.
Speaker 2:That's why they usually have to be bigger than you, so they can work around you and it not be an issue, but it's probably. It's going to be very rare for you to find somebody that's.
Speaker 1:I'm going to have to travel the US to find a skydiving instructor that's larger than me so I can actually go skydiving.
Speaker 2:Exactly, I'm never going to skydive. It's some things we are not given wings. We should not be falling from the sky.
Speaker 1:Planes are an engineering marvel that we get to experience, I have to know, but we ain't got no goddamn wings. I gotta know we should not be falling from the sky.
Speaker 2:I gotta know, I gotta know.
Speaker 1:I have to know, I have to know I wanna know what it's like To be a bird?
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, no, no A falling meteor.
Speaker 1:Dude, there's some. That is probably one of the prettiest things you will ever see, and maybe the last. That's the part now I'm not gonna be like I want to go like hang gliding. No, I'm a sitting duck there's. There's no way. There's no way I have as much control of that as I'm going to want. You know, because I'm gonna be up there with an instructor and they gonna be flying, and when.
Speaker 2:I'm ready To go down.
Speaker 1:We going down One way or another. We going down. Okay, now, when I'm skydiving, there ain't nowhere To go but down.
Speaker 2:Right, and you just gotta hope To slow up a little bit, yeah, to where you're not Splattered on the concrete or ground.
Speaker 1:Now how high up he wants to pull that parachute may be a problem with me. Pull it lower.
Speaker 2:I don't want to float.
Speaker 1:I want the parachute to be pulled. We fall, we done. I don't want to float 20,000 feet in the air, give me like five off the ground and then pull it. Dude, I have to know that's where me and you have to go in a different spot.
Speaker 2:I'll be at the bottom looking at you like, oh, he's not falling like a stone, he looks like he might live, this stupid motherfucker. Yeah, I couldn't do it.
Speaker 1:Your instructor is five foot two. He's so fucked.
Speaker 2:He can't get around you at all. There's no, how is?
Speaker 1:he going to do that, I'd be stuck with a girl. That's not Nah.
Speaker 2:I just yeah, that's where I can't. I can't take that step, but getting on a plane.
Speaker 1:I'm going to have to and that's going to be I'm going to have to. Oh yeah, At least see some of Europe.
Speaker 2:I got to do something like that. Europe, japan, is a big one on my list. There's a lot of places, a lot of places I want to go.
Speaker 1:Dude, if I go to Japan, there's a chance I'm not coming back. I can teach English.
Speaker 2:I can teach English. Yeah, you're not wrong. It seems like such a fun place to go. It really does.
Speaker 1:Every video I've ever watched of Japan, I know I know, I know A fun place to go, but that's one of those countries where, one, we're black. Two, I'm a large person, drew, do you stand out like a sore thumb? And I'm going to stand out like a sore thumb in most countries, but Asian countries are the ones that are like, yeah, I'm black first off and.
Speaker 1:I'm also being 5'10, is tall and I am well I'm above 5'10 yeah and that's one of those things that I'm gonna have to get used to, cause I really wanna go. I just god damn those prices. Yeah, you're not wrong, I'm okay with going in the off season. I don't wanna go to festivals or some shit. You know, it can be rainy.
Speaker 2:One of the cool things I would going Japan is an option is to go see the the. I feel what trees are called.
Speaker 1:Oh, soccer, yeah, Soccer trees when they're, when they're cherry blossoms when they're in full bloom. Yeah, but those are the tickets that are like 15 grand.
Speaker 2:Oh, like 15 grand.
Speaker 1:Oh, I know I know it's not gonna be 15 grand, but it's gonna be over a grand. Yes, yeah, once we're there, us money's worth enough and we'll be fine.
Speaker 2:Uh, it's the getting getting there, getting back all the stuff around it, I'd pay round trip oh yeah, for sure you'd have to.
Speaker 2:There is no, no playing around with that I mean the full cost, yeah it's getting there, getting where you need to go and not getting lost or mugged or anything like that. That's, that's the stuff you got to worry about. Well, that's like, who go mug me? Yeah, but then you're in a place that they know that hey, this dude ain't from around here. There's no recourse for anything like. He's a house to go back to, he's going back to a hotel. He's the perfect person to steal from, like. Like that's how that again, maybe not physically, but like.
Speaker 1:Again, it's legit one of the safest countries in the world. I know you don't have anything to stab me. Yeah you're not wrong. There's no way you can intimidate me enough to take my things. I don't know what you're saying.
Speaker 2:That would be embarrassing upon itself. It's like, oh, once they try to talk to you and they're yelling at you, you're like I don't know what you're talking about. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1:What.
Speaker 2:Google.
Speaker 1:Hey, Google translate, I'm not doing that. I'm walking away. I don't know what you're saying, bro.
Speaker 2:Cancel.
Speaker 1:Sorry, you had a Google in here. Yeah, I did. Everything's freaking out.
Speaker 2:I made a mistake. It is what it is.
Speaker 1:I don't know I just Other countries are so cool. I probably want to go to one that knows English first.
Speaker 2:Yeah, a little easier.
Speaker 1:I don't want to. I have no want to go to the UK. There's nothing interesting.
Speaker 2:Australia would be cool.
Speaker 1:No, type shit, the fuck. No, australia would be really cool. They're in shit there. It's cool, it's hot as fuck and nothing likes me. No, no, what is this? A hulking kangaroo? No, no, there is a video. A lady it's the, it's a voice actor On Bluey and she was like, if you guys don't know, australia's really like, takes a cup, flips it over and taps that motherfucker and pulls up the spider, runs out. I'm like I burned that bitch down. She don't even get moved, she lets it walk away.
Speaker 2:That building is gone.
Speaker 1:Gone Because in my home I take a cup fill water, drink Nothing else If I go to drink and I feel something touch my face. I'm airing a building out, it's gone. I can't. No, no, there's nothing there for me. There is nothing there for me. I love animals. They're amazing. I love weird animals too.
Speaker 2:It has weird animals there there's.
Speaker 1:I can't take it home. Us Customs will subjugate it from me. Yes, that is not, that would not be a possibility. I think coming home with the tortoise they'd be like hey bro, you can't fucking have that yeah, not a possibility for you at all.
Speaker 2:Okay, we went on a little excursion there in more ways than one, fine, okay so this is where we give our reaction to the NFL court and college football season that is now over. Would it start time to look back just a little bit? Do you have on the top of your brain some top moments from the season, whether in college football or in the NFL? I have a couple that come to mind Me. Obviously, the college football championship run for Ohio State. That's like numero uno on the list For being such a low moment after losing to Michigan, to taking that nice little joy ride over that month, to beating all these teams, having one of like the most impressive runs to a championship ever is definitely number one on my list.
Speaker 2:Number two, going to the game me and you went to against the Steelers and Bengals is the first NFL game that we had been to. It was cold as shit. My hands felt like they were going to fall off. I felt like a bitch at the same time because a lot of people didn't have gloves on. I'm like, oh, what are they doing that I'm not doing?
Speaker 1:They were drunk.
Speaker 2:They were drunk and they probably had hand warmers. That would have been an elite thing to have. If we would have just had some hand warmers.
Speaker 1:I feel like I'm gonna change our experience. I'd like the the feet warmers, so my feet weren't cold and they just stuck to the inside of my shoes, but I didn't have hand warmers.
Speaker 2:See, that I feel like that would have been an elite thing to do, but again we weren't. Again we should. We couldn't have known it was cold, but it was colder inside that gosh darn stadium than it was anywhere else, because, again, I think it is all right off the water.
Speaker 1:So so I feel like that doesn't help.
Speaker 2:You're in a big dome, so it vents in it literally felt like it was a tornado inside when the wind was hitting, because it is like a whole thing.
Speaker 1:But there was moments where you were distracted from it.
Speaker 2:On certain drives, oh yeah.
Speaker 1:But there was also a lot of moments of this. Ain't worth it.
Speaker 2:I want to go home, go home, and then you're like waiting for half time, waiting to go to the bathroom, so you can put your hands under the warm water.
Speaker 1:They did have warm water, elite it wasn't just warm, it was hot.
Speaker 2:It was hot Automatic. I didn't have to do a lever thing, it was a sensor. I put my hand under and I got hot water. And it was so elite.
Speaker 1:You need hot water too. This is the most elite thing I've ever heard. I've never seen. The french fries were really good. That is like one thing I starkly remember At that chicken place. Yeah, the french fries were very good. The chicken was bland, it was fine, it was just chicken.
Speaker 2:But no, that was a very good experience, the drive there was great, it was an awesome experience we're going to do that more.
Speaker 1:The drive there was forgettable, it was forgettable, and then suddenly the mountain was straight. Yeah, no, I didn't like. That Made me sick and I almost killed us on a corner driving.
Speaker 2:Yes, you did yeah.
Speaker 1:I was going way too fast, did not notice there was a bend and we about died Yep. There was like a good 20 seconds of straight silence and then the drive back sucked it did.
Speaker 2:But the fact that we made that drive in the middle of the dead winter, like it was january, like that is probably the word like as close to bad as we're gonna get it was snowing, all that obviously wasn't like too bad we're messing up the roads but like again, in general it wasn't necessarily gonna be that. That's like close to as bad as it's gonna get and it was still not that terrible of a drive three hours. Pretty goody both ways. It was still not that terrible of a drive Three hours pretty good both ways. It was a fun time all the way through. It was very fun and the fans that were there were a very fun time too. They were nice people.
Speaker 2:They were nice.
Speaker 1:I'm a Bengals fan, of course, but I sat next to a dude who was pretty cool, right.
Speaker 2:Talk to you the whole time.
Speaker 1:People behind me were cool. Dude offered me a nacho. The guy behind me, he was cool, it was, it was.
Speaker 2:Awesome experience.
Speaker 1:It was great. It was great.
Speaker 2:10 out of 10 Makes us want to do it more. We have to go to the Cincinnati stadium and do that whole thing Next year. Much shorter trip, much shorter trip. We have to do it when it's nice out, hopefully. So we can, you know, wear maybe, you know, wear maybe a pair of pants and a t-shirt. Be a little more comfortable with an experience, maybe.
Speaker 1:I like Cincinnati more than I like Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2:Honestly, when I saw it it was my first time at Pittsburgh it was like, hey, this is a more civilized West Virginia. That's exactly what it was to me. I've been through West Virginia going to different places when it was hotter.
Speaker 1:When it smells like piss, I don't fucking care what anybody tells me it smells. When it smells like piss, I don't care what anybody tells me, it smells like piss. I don't care what anybody says I walked around that I've walked around that city several times and there was one time I was there walking around and it smelled like somebody was happily pissing themselves right next to me. Now it could have been our younger brother that was just peeing himself and not telling nobody, but he was like nine, so I knew he wasn't doing that.
Speaker 2:That you saying that statement about how the city smells is like one of your like like things in life. Josh allen ain't a good quarterback in the city of pittsburgh smells like piss, dude.
Speaker 1:I don't care what I, I, everybody's like mom, mom of our parents are like no, it doesn't. I'm like yes, it does. And everybody's like yeah, it does. And me and him were together that entire time in that city, so somebody was following around pissing behind us. Who cared? Anybody tells me somebody was pissing everywhere I was at because it smelled like piss the entire time and it's better than san francisco.
Speaker 2:where about when you have homeless people pooping pooping on the street all the time?
Speaker 1:And then the whole city was gray. It was like early fall, so it was a little warmer.
Speaker 2:But it was all gray, and then when we went it was dark out, so it didn't really matter. No, by the time we got there it was just completely dark. It was a night game, so we didn't have to worry about that part.
Speaker 1:It is a pretty looking city. When I was leaving it, going into it, driving around, we got to a light. I think we were going to the stadium. The light was, everything was red, no one was no one's moving.
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:And I'm me and we're freaking out Because we're pretty sure I gotta get over two lanes and we're about to go Onto this bridge. We don't like bridges. We don't know where we're going and I'm pretty sure I gotta get over three lanes. We go I that light was red For like two minutes. It really was it was.
Speaker 2:But man, I'm like when are we moving?
Speaker 1:Like it's just Nobody's gonna move, takes us through a fucking backwater to go to get it. We've got to go to get Dad, so I try to find a 7-Eleven. I'm like I want to go to 7-Eleven.
Speaker 1:Fucking backwater straight, drop down a hill and then I have to go straight up it so I have to slow down and then speed up with force and then this car, the turn is not turning as I can feel my tires trying to give grip. I don't drive a manual, but if I did in that city I'd kill myself oh, yeah, at some point, every car in this city was a manual props to you because how'd you do this on? A hill there was one dude we were walking back to the car who had a minute here. I'm like, bro, go get an automatic. Yeah, you not that broke. You're not cheap.
Speaker 2:Automatics are cheap, go do something else, go get something else. But no, it was a very fun time, that's like 10 very big, very big moment for the season great.
Speaker 2:Um, let's see, for my Steelers it really wasn't any big moments. Um, watching watching, uh, justin Fields the first go four and two to start the year was very fun. It was like a very like. I got to have my moment where I'm like, oh, I have a Buckeye quarterback playing for my Steelers. It was a very nice little month or so until they you know Mike Tomlin had to pull that rug out from under me and put freaking Russell Wilson in there.
Speaker 2:But you know other big oh. One of the big moments, one of the most fun, was watching Ohio State beat Indiana on that Saturday and everybody was like, oh, indiana's so good and like maybe Indiana can make this game against Ohio. State beat Indiana on that Saturday and everybody was like, oh, indiana's so good and like maybe Indiana can make this game against Ohio State. Ohio State drums them right. And then for a couple hours you hear, oh, indiana doesn't deserve to be in the playoff anyway. And like all the SEC fans are on Twitter talking about, oh, if Indiana doesn't deserve to get in, this should be another SEC team. And then you proceed to watch Bama loose, olmos loose, and I think bama, olmos, I think tennessee all lost.
Speaker 2:That night was the most fun I have ever had on social media because you see the highs and the lows, because obviously, being a big 10 fan like you to hear about the SEC, all the fans like the SEC over everybody and they all just kind of taken credit for what Nick Saban did for all of his years where he by himself in that Bama team was holding up the SEC for the most part, with a few SEC teams kind of popping up and doing some things when they could. But seeing that happen, where all of their dreams got so high and they were so loving the smell of their own farts so much, and then watching all their dreams crumble that same day, was one of the more uh, satisfying experiences, on top of, obviously, watching ohio state drum indiana like they did. It was a very satisfying experience from start to finish that day that I definitely will remember. It's very, very fun time. Uh, I don't have any, you don't you've none no.
Speaker 2:I feel like watching, watching Joe Burrow some of that, like some of that season where he was just doing I don't. I think maybe yes, cause as soon as you say something about Joe Burrow, you have to then acknowledge the defense, ruining it for Joe Burrow at the same time. This was all for naught.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and the further on in the season it got, the more I'm like this isn't going anywhere. You can't take a defense like that and still win.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you're not wrong, we'll get to more of the Bengals in a bit. Oh, maybe watching Josh Allen not play well was a big moment for you, because it just kind of reaffirmed everything you've been talking about Josh Allen for the year. I don't know. Gosh well why it's not like Michigan State really gave you a lot to be happy about.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:I don't know out. No, uh, it might have been a little more, just a little more, disappointing for you this year, but I think it was disappointing only in the sense that you had so much expectations coming into the season for your bangles what do I highlight? We just redrum the shit out of browns, like we were supposed to twice that was something you were worried about coming into the season, like, oh, we always lose to the browns, how are we going to do it?
Speaker 2:you guys do you guys take care of business there, but I guess, like again, that's a low bar watching jamar chase do what he did all season was definitely a huge, a huge thing to see, because obviously he got the triple crown, did it.
Speaker 1:He literally was a freak show all year long, like he was a saint I know, but again it also hurt by the end of the year because I'm like, is this off or not?
Speaker 2:Right, yeah, you're not wrong. So it comes along with that pain too, even with a little bit of that, so it just it all, just takes a damper.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so it makes it hard to pick stuff that was fun about it when it all felt like none of it was.
Speaker 2:Dang. Yeah, I'm not going to lie. I think coming into this season I everybody thought the Steelers were going to suck. So I kind of have a had a different outlook coming into the season than what you had where you had. You had all the sorts of expectations for your team. Obviously, having Joe Burrow keeps your championship winning window open. So I think you come into a season a lot differently than I do.
Speaker 2:I think your Bengals experience is my Ohio State experience and I think I experienced some very high highs with my team and then with your main team. You definitely experienced a lot of lows, so I can see how that can kind of put a damper on everything. When it comes to the to the season and, uh, maybe you didn't have as much fun with it as you probably would have if, uh, you know the Bengals defense did what they were supposed to do, you know all right. So that's it on that. So if you could give if off the top of your head. Is there a couple teams that you think should be overly happy with how the season went without, like without any type of complaint. I think the vikings coming into this season thinking they're going to be starting a jj mccarthy. He gets hurt in preseason and now they got to start sam darnold. There is no way that they thought. I think they went 13-3 on the season.
Speaker 1:They did yeah 13-3 or 12-4.
Speaker 2:There was no way they thought that they were going to have the season that they had with Sam Darnold and, yes, did it not look good once they got to the last game of the season and in the playoffs? No, but I think they had one of some of the lowest odds to get into the playoffs in general, based on how things went before the season started. So I think them and their fans should be very excited about how this past season went. Again going into next season different animal, because Sam Darnold will potentially become a free agent. Who knows what JJ McCarthy is going to be if he's going to end up being the starter for them? Who knows how that's all going to go? But I do think they have to be very excited about how their season went. I think who else? Oh, washington, easy.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Coming into the season you draft Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 2:You think he's going to be good but you're just hoping like, hey, he shows us some strides and we just have a nice season and they go not only become one of the hottest teams throughout the season, they have some big moments and game winners to end games with Jaden Daniels, but they make the playoffs and get all the way to the gosh darn NFC championship game against the Eagles and again they didn't go well once they got there but they did not believe they even had a chance to sniff that to start the year.
Speaker 2:So I think what, especially coming off the fact that this is the first year with a, with a new ownership, um, brand new head coach, like there was nothing coming into the year, thinking that they were going to have the season that they had and they absolutely destroyed everything and they are only going to get better from here. They're going to have to make some changes to help their defense out, but, like their fans should not have to make some changes to help their defense out, but their fans should not have any disappointment as to how this season went whatsoever.
Speaker 1:It wasn't supposed to be this good A magical run, you have to say, for them.
Speaker 2:And Jamie Daniels will only get better and that's the scary part because he was already so good this year Again, can things get worse around him? To kind of make it look worse? A lot of the CJ Stroud effect where he had a great year one, then year two was off the line, decided to be dog shit and then it just kind of ruined everything. Now everybody thinks CJ Stroud had a really bad second year. I'm like you know what he was real.
Speaker 2:One quick thing about CJ Stroud and that would kind of lead to one of the more disappointing fans and teams. But do you know he was pressured the same rate he was like 38% as Mahomes was in that Super Bowl against the Eagles. That was CJ Stroud's whole season. That's how much he was pressured throughout the year and everybody thought CJ Stroud had a sophomore slump. And then Mahomes, everybody's looking like, oh, he just had no help in that game. It's just crazy how the narrative can kind of get switched based on who you are. But yeah, I just think that Washington definitely had a nice season. One other team.
Speaker 2:I think had a better season than what they thought they were going to.
Speaker 1:Chargers.
Speaker 2:The Chargers thought they were going to make you know what they made. The playoffs they were.
Speaker 1:I don't know new coach, basically brand new yeah, but hard way away, all your players yeah, you're not wrong, mate.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I can get behind that. Make the playoffs. It didn't go well in that first game in the playoffs but like they made it, they did their thing. There's room to grow, which I think is very good for them. Herbert, having such a bad game, there's no way they end like that may be the one damper on their season is that not only did they lose that playoff game, but Herbert played like garbage, so like that may have maybe won that with the one asterisk on their season. That kind of like ruins it for them and their fans. But no, I think that's something they should be very happy about. Okay, so disappointing seasons Anything off the top of your head? I have a couple, but I want to give you an opportunity to come up with one if you got it.
Speaker 1:Disappointing. Yeah, like more disappointing than they were before, or like just disappointing.
Speaker 2:Just coming. Based on where you started the year and where you finished it, this season was bad.
Speaker 1:The Jets.
Speaker 2:Oh God, yeah, Holy F. You had a healthy Aaron Rodgers coming in All the momentum. You're like, hey, we had him, we were without him. Last year we won seven games. We should be better than that. Our defense should be one of the top in the NFL.
Speaker 1:And y'all were garbage on every front.
Speaker 2:Yes, that is a perfect, and Aaron Rodgers played terribly all year. It wasn't like he was playing good, like he played bad. No, that was an absolute meltdown of a season. You know who else that? Freaking Jaguars.
Speaker 1:That was my next one.
Speaker 2:Trevor Lawrence played like garbage for most ofuars. That was my next one. Trevor Lawrence played like garbage for most of the year Ends up getting hurt, missing the last quarter of the year as well, and heck people are questioning whether Trevor Lawrence is really a starting back type of guy at quarterback. But here's the problem With all those questions coming, they just paid the man. He's getting paid close to to top of the market, so like that. And you know it's funny the there was news going around last week that the Steelers called the Jaguars about potentially trying to acquire him.
Speaker 2:It all came out as to the Steelers never made that call and it was just bad information given to some reporters in in Jacksonville. But like the idea that that was really thought about and people were like, oh, there's something there means that not only has Trevor Lawrence underperformed based on what he is and what he's supposed to be, because if he was that type of dude you'd have Jacksonville fans going crazy like, oh, he's like the Luka situation, he's our guy. Why would you try to trade him? That wasn't the talk. That was oh could, he's our guy. Why would you try to trade him? That wasn't. That wasn't the the talk. That was oh, could they? He hasn't played that well.
Speaker 2:Like that was something they actually like thought could be a good idea and I'm glad the steelers didn't do that, because I don't I wouldn't feel good about giving a guy 40 again. I don't think trevor lawrence is bad, but I do. I think and again, I think trevor lawrence would be a part of a better organization if he went to a team like the Steelers, so maybe he can kind of take a couple steps back and doesn't have to be the superstar but like again paying a guy like that where I'm like trying to take things off his plate. He's getting paid over 40 million dollars. I wouldn't feel great about it, so I'm definitely happy that didn't all work out. Um Cowboys Cowboys without question. Like they have to be A very disappointing season.
Speaker 1:Not only Is it, or is it just what I?
Speaker 2:expect From the Cowboys. I think the fans In their team has to be disappointed. Oh oh.
Speaker 1:This is what Everybody else expected From you, dude? I expected this shit to happen. Dak gets hurt again.
Speaker 2:Dak gets hurt again. Their defense sucks. Michael Parsons gets hurt, their head coach, the guy that ends up giving them a better record than they probably thought they were going to when all the guys were hurt.
Speaker 2:They didn't want to pay him. And now he walks, and now they have to promote their offensive coordinator, who didn't run a good offense with the Cowboys. So I'm just like that has to be an absolutely devastating season. But I think maybe, with that being the case, I think maybe their fans are finally catching on to the idea that maybe Jerry Jones doesn't mean what he's saying when he says hey, I'll pay whatever it takes to get a championship again. No, I think, jerry Joe, I think people are catching on to the fact that Jerry Jones wants to do it his way.
Speaker 2:You, bullshit as long as they can make money, it doesn't really matter. If the championship comes, it comes. If not, we're cool. I think those fans have to be very disappointed. Oh, san Fran, san Fran's season crumbled. You start coming to the year thinking you're going to be good. Coming off the last year where you lose the Super Bowl in devastating fashion against the Chiefs, you're like, hey, let's go for it again. Chris McCaffrey doesn't even start the season because of his arthritic needs that they didn't say anything about to anybody until the day of the first game of the season, and then he doesn't play for like eight or nine games and then he comes back for one game and gets hurt again and has to leave. They lose the wide receiver why am I forgetting his name, brandon Ayuk, who they signed before the season started, and he ends up getting hurt early on in the season, losing for the year.
Speaker 1:Heck, the only guy that really stayed healthy all year was Kittle. He was elite all year their left tackle got hurt.
Speaker 2:Why am I forgetting his name?
Speaker 1:Tristan Wirfs Nope.
Speaker 2:No, it's not. It starts with a, it's a J right.
Speaker 1:I'll have to, oh, look it up.
Speaker 2:Dang it. Um, why? Why am I forgetting his, his Sin? I just say 49ers Uh, left tackle. Um, it is left tackle. It is Trent Williams. He gets hurt early on in the season, doesn't replay the rest of the year like they lose out on him. Like Debo gets hurt throughout the year, he ends up coming back but he's not nearly the same, like this team had so much coming into the year of hope of getting back to the point where they got last year and it did not go well at all. Heck, freaking Purdy doesn't play well throughout a good portion of the season. So I think everything I think the 49ers, based on how they started the year to where they ended the year, is that the end of the year thing and they're probably closer to a freaking rebuild.
Speaker 2:They're closer to a rebuild than they are a Super Bowl at the end of the year. So 49ers fans and their team has to be very disappointed. Who knows if Chris McCaffrey will ever be good again. Cato's now getting older. Are you going to pay him the money he's going to get paid? Is Purdy really the guy? Are they going to pay him the money Because he's going to be? I don't think he'll be a free agent coming up this year but like he'll be in his last year of his deal, Are you going to pay him? Should you pay him? Like, does it make sense to you? It probably doesn't. So, like that's a whole thing. I think San Fran should. Oh, Bengals, Again, I don't think anybody Everybody knew the Bengals defense was going to be an issue, but not this big an issue.
Speaker 2:There was nobody in the world thought it was going to be that bad. Bad enough to where Borough scored over 30 practically every week and they were losing games. There was two times there wasn't two times they scored over 35 and they were losing games. There was two times I think it wasn't two times they scored like over 35 and like they still lost.
Speaker 1:There was seven times Burrow scored more than 35 points in a game and they still lost. Yeah.
Speaker 2:So like there was no way the Bengals defense could have like nobody ever could have thought they'd be that bad there was Let alone ruin a great season that Joe Burrow had, that Jamar Chase had there was two times where Burrow scored over 40 and still lost. So like that's definitely up there. Like everybody thought this could be the year where Joe Burrow gets back to the moment, gets to the postseason, eventually faced off against Mahomes, and they just never had that moment.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you don't throw for 4,500 yards.
Speaker 2:He doesn't even get postseason awards because of how bad they were. None If they would have had a decent record.
Speaker 1:If they would have made the playoffs and he would have at least gotten to the second round.
Speaker 2:MVP is probably his, because you don't like 45, he had 4,500 yards.
Speaker 1:Oh, he blew everybody out passing-wise Like 47-something touchdowns. He had 11 interceptions. He threw his last two interceptions in the last two weeks of the year.
Speaker 2:Yep, he was efficient as crap man.
Speaker 1:He was so efficient and his QBR was off the chart and it didn't matter, and none of it mattered.
Speaker 2:And Jamar Chase had a triple crown and it almost went unnoticed because they just did not have the chance to get into the playoffs and really put their stamp on their season. So that has to be very disappointing with how that went. Can't really think of anybody else, but there's still probably plenty of other teams. We're not even thinking about Steelers again. I have to say they had to be disappointing because, based on how you started the year, you get to the playoffs, you do all that work, you start the season so hot and then you lose the last six games straight and then lose the first round of the playoffs in embarrassing fashion to the Ravens. That's a disappointing year.
Speaker 2:I think Steelers fans for the most part are now getting to the point where just being over 500 and making the playoffs just to lose in the first round is not going to be enough for them anymore. I think they're going to start asking for more, and I think Tomlin and the Steelers team and their quarterback situation. There's a lot of questions that have have to be answered and I think this season has not really done a great job as to doing so, because you gave the season over to a russell wilson that is not going to be there long term. Um, I think that's came out that they don't. The steelers don't seem like they're going to be sticking with russell wilson to pay him to stay around for the next few years, so hopefully it'll be justin fields. You know, it's funny that I've seen some mock drafts already because that's already happening where somebody said that going for jackson dart in the first round would be a good idea.
Speaker 1:The old miss quarterback.
Speaker 2:Oh, he's not bad. He's like they're everybody's looking at him as like quarterback two or quarterback three in this year's draft because everybody's saying he's like pretty close with chador sanders and what they can do. But here's my problem if you throw just Justin Fields in this draft with all these guys, he's better than all of them. So why in the hell would the Steelers in the first round take a guy like that when you have Justin Fields still in his mid-20s, still has a lot of career ahead of him, but you just have to invest in him and make him that guy and like make him take those next steps. Like that would that made me annoyed, the crap out of me. Like why would you start over again with a guy you don't know can play in the league or not again with, even with some of the issues fields has had?
Speaker 2:He has had some successful moments in the nfl. He was four and two at the steelers last year. So the idea of restarting that over again for a guy I get it. Jackson Dart played well in the SEC at Ole Miss but you don't know if he's an NFL guy or not. You're starting over. This could be another four-year mistake you're making when you have a guy in Justin Fields that has shown that if you give him the right pieces he can play in this league and play winning football for your team and you don't have to pay him that much money.
Speaker 2:It's not like he's going to be asking for top of the market deals. So that is, sealer is definitely another team that for definitely disappointing this year. Um, that's all I got on that. So bangles we'll get. We'll go to more of the bangles talk here. We've been kind of shoving that off there.
Speaker 2:So joe burrow has went through the whole thing. During super bowl week he was on a few podcasts and he kind of like was laying out like hey, if I reshuffle, like there's ways to make this team better like he was citing the eagles and the way they paid their wide receivers and then they managed their cap. Obviously they paid both aj brown and uh, devonta, sorry, devonta smith, devonta smith. I bought devonta murray insane. They paid both their guys over 30 million dollars. And Devonta Murray Sorry, devonta Smith, devonta Smith, I thought it was called Devonta Murray Insane. They paid both their guys over $30 million and everything was fine. But here's the thing the Eagles paid them before it was time to pay them. So they're like hey, they'll take a discount if you pay me early.
Speaker 2:The Bengals are playing games with Jamar Chase. Apparently, according to the news, they're going to tag T Higgins and hope that they can come to an agreement on a long-term contract, and they're going to try to sign Hendrickson too. And so Joe Burrow has been going to all these podcasts talking about hey, I'm willing to restructure If we can try to keep our guys here, I'm willing to help out as much as I can. And it seems like the Bengals are going to try. Whether they're actually going to put up, put forth a good effort to that has yet to be seen, because the Bengals don't.
Speaker 2:They just don't want to pay anybody. And I really do think when they paid Joe Burrow the top of the market money, they were like, hey, as long as we pay this guy, we can just skate by and not have to do that for anybody else, maybe chase, but like everybody else, we, we could just play this game. And I think Joe Burrow has strong-armed them into like, hey, I want to win, money is great, but winning should be on all of our minds. And I think he forces them into playing, doing something they don't want to do. And first off, have they burned the bridges with Hendrickson and T Higgins.
Speaker 1:If you guys tag T Higgins yes, you're fucked, you were fucked, but you can't not pay Trey Hendrickson. He had 17 sacks. He should have been DPOI, but you know it's okay, patrick's return makes sense. He does make sense. He does make sense, he's the only one I'm okay with. So Trey Hend chan had an awesome year he really was, but again, I just dog dude you guys. Joe burrow's telling you what to do uh, he's not asking you to do this, he is telling you to do this right don't fuck this up.
Speaker 1:That's all I can say again.
Speaker 2:I just think when you have a guy of this caliber and here's the thing, I think carson palmer got to this point too. I think that's why he retired was that hey, I know you're paying me, but we're not winning, and if I'd rather retire than sit here and get beat up on and not do any type of winning. That's what Carson Palmer came to, and you know when Carson Palmer made that decision and retired early In year eight. Do you know what year? Joe Burrow's in Year six, so he's getting close to that point. So when you're as good you have a quarterback, as good as Joe Burrow is, and as much as the Chiefs kind of own the AFC, you still have an opportunity.
Speaker 2:With how the Chiefs look right now, it's not like the Chiefs are going to be able to reload next year.
Speaker 2:If you can get that defense to a little bit of a respectability just of a respectability, just be average you can be that team again that can run through the AFC and get to the Super Bowl, and Joe Burrow's giving you the roadmap.
Speaker 2:You just have to take it and you have to shell out some cash and I think you have to swallow some pride and I think you have to go to Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins and make it work.
Speaker 2:But the problem is that you've already burned your bridges so much with those guys I don't think Jamar Chase is going to want to help you at all. He was trying to get paid early and you want to play that game, so now he's going to make you pay on the back end. He's going to hit you in the head with the shovel and you're going to have to pay me more. I think T Higgins is not going to make this easy on you, Like if you would have potentially got them both to take a pay cut and kept them both around and hendrickson. But now you've made it so hard for all three of those guys and now they're gonna have bad attitudes coming into it and that, even if there was a chance to make it happen and for them to take a tad bit less to keep everybody together, you're not gonna.
Speaker 1:It's gonna fucking suck, it's gonna suck. Hendrickson's coming off 19 and then 17 sacks and then tiggins is a four-year. T Higgins is a five-year, thousand-year receiver. Yeah, he is a number one receiver by every statement and terms. Somebody will pay him a lot of money if he leaves and Jamar Chase is the number one receiver in the NFL.
Speaker 2:Triple crown winner and he did that for $5 million. You got a huge discount for him last year. He's going gonna want some of that. He's gonna. He's gonna want his get back. He wants that money plus some in this contract. So I'm just sitting here like you've done so much damage to those relationships that you can't come to them, be like, hey, can you just take a little bit less? We can help somebody else out. We screwed over. That's just not.
Speaker 1:It's just not going to work.
Speaker 2:That's not what they're going to do. We're fucked, fucked it just again. It seems like almost too little, too late type of situation. But the problem is that if you don't make this work, they're going to get chased on. You're probably going to have to overpay. He's going to make you pay no such thing as overpay when he just did what he did last year, being the triple crown winner. But like you could have gotten him for cheaper if you just took care of business last year. But is there any like? There's no big move, man. I'm just saying we could do go draft. Well, like, go draft some defensive guys and just hope it all works out. You drafted, you got a good defensive head, defensive coordinator, but like when he was at notre dame he was very good. But I'm like you have to give them guys to work with and now you're going to have to be taking up most of your draft by drafting defensive guys. And again, it's not like the Bengals are great at drafting defensive guys. It's just not really how that's worked they drafted Logan Wilson.
Speaker 2:He's pretty good yeah, did they draft Henderson too. Henderson was a saint, yes, he was, he was. Yes, he was, you signed him. But yeah, you guys just don't have the greatest track record. Heck, who was the freaking defense tackle? You guys got in the first round last year.
Speaker 1:We had a defensive tackle last year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the guy from Clemson.
Speaker 1:Oh, that was two, almost three years ago.
Speaker 2:Who'd you pick last year in the first round then? Oh, the Lions, mims, yes. So I'm like, defensively, you guys just don't have the greatest track record of drafting guys and that's where you need your most help and there's no lockdown corner. That is going to be obvious for you guys. But you just have a lot of work you have to do and you have a lot of guys you want to pay and I just think I don't know, honestly, would it even be smart to pay all those guys at this point? Should you just tag T and just trade him? I don't know.
Speaker 1:There's no good way to go about this now. No matter what you do, someone's going to be upset.
Speaker 2:Yeah. What you have to do is just make sure you do enough work to convince Joe Burrow that he's not going to want to leave by the time his contract is over if he even considers requesting for a trade, you have to sell the organization because yeah I'm gonna be honest with you.
Speaker 1:You're not making it home. Yeah, you're not. You better riot. You think it was bad for luca?
Speaker 2:it would be a freaking. It would destroy the city if they. Joe burrow, asked for a trade.
Speaker 1:Cincinnati ain't got shit Going for them. The Reds suck ass. They don't have a hockey team.
Speaker 2:They have soccer, but you know who cares about soccer.
Speaker 1:Exactly. All they have is the Bengals, the Cincinnati All they have is the Bengals.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Don't Fuck. If Joe Burrow Requests a trade, paycore's fucked. They're burning that shit down. And then they're going to fine his house and burn that shit down. Don't do it.
Speaker 2:Don't do it. And you still have Taylor as your coach and I'm just like it's a lot of things you have to work through, but again, you're so talented, you still have Joe Burrow and he keeps that door open for you. You just have to make the right moves to get back to it.
Speaker 1:His greatness will transcend all the trashness.
Speaker 2:I don't know it's a lot of moves you have to make. Just a couple more NFL stories. Did you hear about the old Justin Tucker? Up to 17 cases now.
Speaker 1:I did see that 17. 17's crazy.
Speaker 2:Deshaun Watson's like 25, so he's getting close.
Speaker 1:He should retire.
Speaker 2:Again. Maybe the idea that he knew this was coming last year kind of took his mind out of it and that's why he's up.
Speaker 1:He should retire while he can still try to make the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2:Again, 17?
Speaker 1:17's an outrageous number.
Speaker 2:Insane. Again. It feels like the Deshaun Watson thing all over again, so that part definitely sucks. You just feel like there's more and more people come out. Nfl salary cap's going to go up by $22 million in 2025. So maybe give you the Bengals a little extra cheddar to try to sign the guys they need to sign.
Speaker 2:Let's see oh Mixon and remember when Joe Mixon and their defensive end Dang, who was Will Anderson Jr, when they both got fined for talking about the officials after the game against the Kansas City in the first round of the playoffs, they both goted, they appealed and their appeals won, so they got their money back. I think that is the NFL taking a little bit of an L and saying like, hey, what these guys said wasn't all that bad, but they weren't all that wrong either. Because I think, if they really, because if they weren't all that wrong either, because I think, if they really, because if they weren't trying to take any type of copability with the officiating, they would have not. Because, again, any type of admitting that hey, maybe they didn't say anything all that bad kind of feeds into the idea that the officiating was bad and it wasn't helping the Texans at all.
Speaker 2:So the idea that the NFL was willing to take that L and give them back their money maybe is a step towards the right thing and maybe they're just maybe they're more open to the idea that maybe hey, maybe the officiating is is more of an issue than they would they would like let on, so that is definitely a big, big deal. Um, but yeah, that's. That's all the storylines for the nfl. We're going to be talking about the uh, the stuff. Next week We'll talk about upcoming signings and all that. I wanted to talk about that a little bit more going into the next podcast, but that's about it. There's really nothing to talk about baseball. Spring training has started, but it's kind of in the beginning stages of that Basketball.
Speaker 2:It's going to heat up as you get later on in the season, get into the playoffs and all that march madness is coming.
Speaker 2:We have a little bit of fun with that doing our brackets I'm betting bad betting on that would be crazy, um, but yeah, that's pretty much it.
