Gaming, Baseball, and Brotherhood: A Conversation with our Brother Breylend
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The boundaries between gaming and sports blur as three brothers tackle Nintendo's controversial Switch 2 announcement that's shaking up the gaming world. At $450 with digital-only games disguised as physical cartridges, has Nintendo crossed a line? We break down the harsh realities of the 9-inch screen, 1080p/120fps promises, and the $80 Mario Kart World that's dividing fans with its open-world approach.
After dissecting Nintendo's ambitious hardware claims, we shift to baseball's latest controversy – Torpedo Bats. Are these modified bats giving batters an unfair advantage, or is this just the pendulum swinging back after years of pitcher dominance? The Yankees' 20-run opening day might be telling us something.
Our basketball segment spotlights rising star Cooper Flagg's dominance at Duke, the surprising age comparison between Houston's college team (averaging 25) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (averaging just 24), and concerns about Joel Embiid and Zion Williamson's injury-plagued careers.
We close with heated NFL debates around the Eagles' unstoppable "tush push" play that has the league deadlocked in a 16-16 vote on whether to ban it, Trey Hendrickson's contract standoff with the Bengals, and a fresh take on the Steelers' quarterback strategy following Ben Roethlisberger's retirement.
Through it all, our brotherly banter creates an authentic, unfiltered conversation that captures both our gaming concerns and sports passions. Whether you're worried about Nintendo's pricing or curious about baseball's evolving technology, join us for insights wrapped in sibling rivalry.
Welcome back to the podcast. It's Wednesday, April the 2nd, and we're back for the podcast.
Speaker 2We back folks, this will be a different one. We don't have a lot of things going on football wise, so I figured we can go outside the box a little bit. We have a few things to talk about. We have somebody else here to talk about it with. Go ahead and introduce yourself hello, I am braylon. I am these two idiots brothers braylon, you can't sound like a robot, bro, come on is a school presentation, so my topic today is like what are we doing, bro?
Speaker 1You were animated before the podcast.
Speaker 2What happened to it? You went real robotic so fast.
Speaker 3I had a presentation today, so this is the distance speak I'm used to.
Speaker 2Got to keep it close to your face, my friend.
Speaker 3My bad Discipline.
Speaker 2My bad. So if you can't notice, this is the first time this kid's been on the podcast, first time he's talking to a proper fucking mic. This is our second time having anybody on the podcast. Third oh yeah, you're right, it's third what's your name. Jake and then Fonzo. But, other than that. This is it. How are you the third person?
Speaker 3I don't know anything about sports.
Speaker 2Yeah, this makes it a little more difficult, but again, there's going to be a lot of things. We're going to start with something that is a little bit outside of what we talk about. We do a little bit of gaming stuff but, like today being the day that Nintendo has announced the Switch 2, Jason Braylon have not heard anything about this thing.
Speaker 3Nope.
Speaker 2Somebody should have their phone at the ready to be able to look at this thing, because it's kind of unbelievable to a certain degree, okay.
Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement
Speaker 1Keep your hands off my shit bro.
Speaker 3All right, bro, I just wanted a tit.
Speaker 1What the fuck is wrong with you. You're going to join the podcast and start fucking with our shit, bro, I just wanted a grippo.
Speaker 3Come on, get this nigga out. Can I borrow a grippo that?
Speaker 1bag was $4.29.
Speaker 3Come on, can't spare? Kick this nigga out.
Speaker 1Can I borrow a gripper? That bag was $4.29.
Speaker 2Fuck that Way overpriced Grippers my guess.
Speaker 1I'm paying. I am paying $3.98. A gallon Diesel is $3.50. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What are we doing? You're telling me to be more efficient? If I drove a truck, I fill up the same amount as they do.
Speaker 2Yeah but why is?
Speaker 1the tank 19 gallons.
Speaker 2I do not drive an SUV you can get. No, that's not true, because SUV heck. The SUV I just drove last week like a 13-gallon tank and it has better miles per gallon than me.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm in a sedan. My bad, everybody considers would I drive a sports car?
Speaker 2Yeah, did you know that? Pretty sporty Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, the fuck it ain't.
Speaker 2It don't feel like it, but it is.
Speaker 1It's zippy, it's quick, but if you consider me a sports car and a McLaren a sports car, I'm going to be honest with you. You fucking tweaking. Yeah, car. I'm going to be honest with you, you fucking tweaking, you're not wrong. My bad, this is just shit I had bottled up.
Speaker 2Before we get to Switch Stuff real quick. I figure people should at least have an idea of who you are. Jib Braylund. This is our younger brother. Braylund. How old are you? I'm 15. Fun facts about yourself.
Speaker 3I play baseball for my school. I'm a third baseman and a pitcher.
Speaker 1He's trash what he is.
Speaker 3Alright, bro, I don't even. I don't like third base, I'd rather play first.
Speaker 1Can't even hit home runs. I had one by the time I was your age.
Speaker 3Bro, shut up, I'm not 6'2 and there's motherfuckers that aren't Mookie.
Speaker 1Mookie Betts. How tall is Mookie Betts? 6 foot? I don't think six foot. No, he's not six foot. I think Mookie Betts is 5'10".
Speaker 2Is he? Yeah, and he's cranked several home runs. It's not because of his size.
Speaker 3It's his strength.
Speaker 1I know he has cranked several home runs over the last couple days.
Speaker 3And let's talk about Jose Altuve and Mookie Betts.
Speaker 1I'm not Mookie Betts, I know but your argument was that you're not as big as me, but you don't have to be as big as me.
Speaker 3Yeah, but there's dudes smaller than me that hit more home runs than I do.
Speaker 1I've only started working out the past year, so I wasn't working out when I hit my first home run. You hit your first, no, I just got a hold of a good fastball. No, you motherfucker on the Mount Thorne 86.
Speaker 3Guys, I'm supposed to be introducing myself right now.
Speaker 2Again, this is not a normal podcast, as if you didn't know. So you play baseball. Okay, you don't. What sports do you know? We're not going into sports right now. Sports allegiances.
Speaker 3if you had to pick, I know a little bit about baseball and basketball.
Speaker 2That's really it Baseball allegiance. Obviously he follows the Yankees just like we do.
Speaker 3Not really.
Speaker 2You're not a Yankees fan.
Speaker 3I'm a Yankees fan. I like watching the Yankees. Okay, sorry.
Speaker 2Sorry the wrong word. You are a Yankees fan, but you don't really pay attention. You're not really much of a sports watcher. I think a lot of kids nowadays, unless you are like totally in love.
Speaker 3Kids don't really watch sports like that. Well again, they don't watch anything like that, other than youtube.
Speaker 1No, they watch sports yeah, your cabin. Yeah, I was at the mall the other day and it was right after we signed t higgins. There's a, there's kids from nine. He's like we fucking signed t higgins.
Speaker 2He's walking out the bangles no, but what I'm saying is either you're a diehard or you don't watch at all. There's not as much casual viewing of sports, because I don't think sports is a casual viewing thing.
Speaker 1I think if you were a sports fan, you were a part of a cult.
Speaker 2You're locked in. You're not. You are a cult.
Speaker 1You are a part of a cult. I am walking through Steelers Stadium, hinesfield it's not called that anymore, it's PNC Stadium, which is gay.
Speaker 2It's not even PNC, it's Accrature.
Speaker 1Yeah, I like Hinesfield. Yeah, me too, that's much better, me too, but I'm walking through it all ears Hootie Like come on.
Speaker 2It's a cult. It's a cult. Sports are a cult. Yes, a lot of kids are sports fans.
Speaker 1That's not always true. Some people end up liking sports later on. Yeah, oh yeah, Because I guess I don't know, I guess I hated you, you were later on, you were later on. No, I was early on.
Speaker 3He started liking teams based off of the spite for you.
Speaker 2You didn't lock into teams until later on.
Speaker 1No, I didn't lock into, like Michigan State, the Yankees and the Bulls until later, but the Bengals, I was pretty locked in on them early.
Speaker 2Yeah, okay, I agree with you on that.
Speaker 1It was 2011 when I really first got interested in them, because you were losing and I was like yeah, hey, that's fine. But I wasn't like but.
Speaker 2I was watching games.
Speaker 1I just wasn't. Always I was watching if you were watching. I didn't know how to watch sports yet Always I was watching if you were watching. I didn't know how to watch sports yet.
Speaker 2Yeah, so Yankees.
Speaker 3Yeah, I don't really follow the Bulls, I do like watching.
Speaker 2They don't even give you a lot to follow, so it's fine, I don't follow the Bulls and. I'm a Bulls fan Me too, Until recently. They're playing some good ball in the last month, josh'm like that's perfect. The Giddler, all right, continue Insane.
Speaker 3I want to talk about sports allegiances. Yeah, nfl, I like the Steelers.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 3I don't like their management as much.
Speaker 2It's the Steelers. I have my troubles too.
Speaker 1I'm not totally disagree with that my team pays people now, so I like the Bengals.
Speaker 2Some people.
Speaker 1Fuck you.
Speaker 3I don't really know anything about sports. You're a dick.
Speaker 1Yeah, continue on, kid.
Speaker 3I like Football is more fun to watch the highlights than the actual game.
Speaker 1For me, yes, it is.
Speaker 3Because football it's like I'm not explaining it, it's just not the pace I want.
Speaker 2I totally understand Football is one of those you watch the most of it, because, again, me and Jace watch the most of that. But actually in game there's a least amount of actual play happening plays take a couple seconds and the next thing you know there's a break and heck even at the actual football game see it makes it even more apparent how much I feel like we're at the game and I thought back on I was like, damn, they were not playing very long.
Speaker 1long plays were fucking exciting and I see why everybody cheers the like, the fact a play went more than eight seconds and I'm like, oh, this is awesome, but like no it's very understandable.
Speaker 2A lot of lulls, for sure.
Speaker 1I still think it's better than basketball.
Speaker 2But again, for younger people, basketball is actually back and forth.
Speaker 1But basketball is more boring to straight up watch because I'm like damn, these niggas miss so many more shots than I realize. Because I'm like damn, these niggas missed so many more shots than I realize. Because I'm watching like they're chugging, dink, dink, dink, dink and I'm like damn, hit a shot in five minutes. It amazes me how they get to 100, because they'd be missing like a mug.
Speaker 3Now, college basketball is even worse.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1I watched a possession during the March Madness where it was easily four or five minutes where no one scored.
Speaker 2Unless it was Houston playing, there was a lot of bad basketball being played.
Speaker 1Up until the Elite Eight and Duke Duke is awesome. Exactly you said, duke is.
Speaker 2No, the Elite. No, I'm sorry. Up until the Elite Eight there was a lot of bad basketball and then pretty much every game was good, unless Houston was in the game. And the next thing, you know, they just lock down whoever they play and you're like whoever gets to 60 wins. That's how they play, because that's how good they are on defense. Their offense really isn't that as great, but no for sure. I totally understand how you can look at basketball be like. I mean, you can look at basketball be like uh, probably not, as is more physically going on, but maybe not actually on the scoreboard as much.
Speaker 1I guess. Personally, I think baseball is my favorite to watch.
Speaker 2But again, that's something we were all kind of. I fell in love with, and then you were kind of indoctrinated to.
Speaker 1There's a deeper understanding of the game.
Speaker 3Yeah, when I got a deeper understanding of the rules and the game and what the people mindset, that's when I really got into baseball.
Speaker 1It makes it more interesting to actually watch a game.
Speaker 2Personally, I Because you feel like you can follow it in a way that a lot of people can't follow it.
Speaker 1Agreed. I like going to the Clippers games. Those are great. Now it's. They're AAA, yeah, aaa. They're one away from Major League.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1It's as close as you can get to to the major league. A lot of these guys are either major league players or players are like up and down guys, so it's fun to watch. I guess baseball on the tvs one is a lot faster now. Yes, I'd actually say it's way faster than it's fast now, faster than football, um, because an nfo game, I say, will run you at least three and a half nfl.
Speaker 2Nfl is pretty locked in like two, two and a half hours. Okay, nfl is pretty locked in like two, two and a half hours.
Speaker 1Okay, so you're bullshitting. The NFL is three and a half hours. No, it's not, it is a three and a half hour ordeal, it's definitely three and a half hours. It is absolutely three and a half hours If you're watching a college football game seven and a half hours. You are not leaving, you are stayingshitting, you are bullshitting, that's how NFL day is set up. The games start at 12. One, no, the games start at 12. The next games start at 4.
Speaker 2The NFL yes, it's 1 and 4 o'clock.
Speaker 1Okay, that's still three hours, yeah, okay. So most of them take longer than that. You are lying if they don't. You are lying if I am not watching the game that is still on and then the simulcast of the same game next to it, because they don't have to broadcast both of them. It happens all the time. It happened to me because I'm in primetime spots, because we're that team.
Speaker 1Now you the freaking poor people over here. It may happen to you. I'm not poor Poor. Who's your quarterback? Hopefully Aaron Rodgers. Oh, so it's what's his name? Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 2Yeah, as of right now, it's Mason Again.
Speaker 1I have something I want to talk about the Steelers quarterback situation. I've thought about something recently, but football is three and a half hours Baseball two and a half hours. You're cool, two and a half hours.
Speaker 2They've gotten it down for sure with the rules changes and it's actually very viable to watch Now.
Speaker 1there's too many games to watch but, at any moment. I can catch any game as long as it's not the Brewers, because I don't want to watch the Brewers do anything. I don't know a single player on their team Brewers or White so just watch a baseball game like, oh yeah, this is, this was good, this was good, shit, yeah, and continue on. Uh, but again, it's probably not very typical yeah where it's, there's a deep understanding of the sport.
Speaker 1So I guess, I guess I I don't understand as much as not liking a team like you just don't have any true allegiance to anybody yeah, not really it's hard to watch sports casually. You can't watch sports casually. You can't watch sports casually.
Speaker 2Yeah, you have to find something to care about.
Speaker 1Either you're a fan or you're not.
Speaker 2Right At least of something or a player, which is that's a lot more typical nowadays. Fall in love with players rather than all that. You have to find something to play with. Huh, couldn't help yourself.
Speaker 1I got a fidget.
Speaker 2Yeah, you have to find something to play with. Huh, couldn't help yourself. I got a fidget. Oh yeah, okay, so, like Legault Got enough, I guess we got enough. I do want to talk about a little bit of baseball stuff after, but let's do the Switch stuff first. Right, okay, switch 2 was announced today. Let's start with hardware. I'm not going to J the price until the end.
Speaker 1It's just pretty crazy. It's about to be insane. I'm about to buy this motherfucker on salvage Switch 2.
Speaker 2It's going to be out June 5th. Damn that soon. It's going to be out June 5th. Pre-orders start the 9th and they actually do the pre-orders of this month.
Speaker 3What the fuck? Yes, okay.
Speaker 2I'm starting with that because it's coming. It's very soon Starting with that. It's crazy how fast it is.
Speaker 1It all sucks. Nintendo just kills the old console and stops using them.
Speaker 2Honestly, this is the first time in a while that they have it is literally a direct level up. It's just leveling everything up, but the games and cartridges are still the same. You can still use your old games in the next one. It's not the first time, no, but I'm saying they've kept it very similar. Have you seen the DSs Outside of handhelds Outside?
Speaker 1of handhelds. Nigga, what the fuck's a Switch? It is a glorified handheld handhelds.
Speaker 2Nigga, what the fuck's the?
Speaker 1switch. It is a glorified handheld. It is legit. A? Yes, it is. It is their main console, though okay, the main console that they now put all the ds games on, because they killed their the ds okay, but it's a glorified ds.
Speaker 2Yes, but think about the game lineups they've had every time that they've had the games. A lot of times the game cartridges go different it is not a direct descendant, it is a brand new thing, brand new types of games.
Speaker 1Have you seen a?
Speaker 2DS cartridge Outside of the handhelds.
Speaker 1Okay, my nigga. The DS cartridges and the Switch cartridges look exactly the fucking same. Sorry, you cannot tell me that they didn't look at the DS and be like all right, now let's do that, but put it on a Wii U gamepad For a main console? Yes, yeah, but it's not really a main console, my DS and the fucking Switch run at the same frame rate. True.
Speaker 2They do. They're trying to do something different with the.
Speaker 1Switch too. Oh cool, my DS has analog fucking thumbsticks, and that bitch came out in 2011. So you ain't doing shit new, Y'all just pulling old shit.
Speaker 1Nintendo's great at not doing anything new. They just pull old shit from the other consoles, Because the DS had holographic joysticks I don't know if you know that or not which is why they made them slides, Because they were cheaper and they were like oh, let's just put this on the Switch now and say it's new. It's not Like the OLED screen. My DS has an OLED screen. Did you know that?
Speaker 2No, so let's start with the actual handheld part itself. It's a bigger screen. It's about nine inches now, so it'll be bigger in every way.
Speaker 3Yeah, because it's black.
Speaker 2This guy. He's crazy you got. The actual console itself is going to be not going to get any thicker when it comes to how thick it is, so it's going to still be pretty slim in comparison. The actual Joy-Con is going to get any thicker when it comes to how thick it is. It's going to still be pretty slim in comparison. The actual Joy-Con is going to be bigger. Here's the funny thing. The screen is now going to be a 1080p screen. This is on handheld mode. The screen is going to be 1080p. It can run at 120 frames 1080, 120.
Speaker 2Yeah, I do up to 120.
Speaker 3That's interesting. Sounds like it's going to overheat.
Speaker 2Well, it shouldn't.
Speaker 1It will, it probably will 1080p 120 frames.
Speaker 2It can do up to that and usually, depending on the game that you're playing, there will be options to have a more powerful version. Like again, just like an xbox, you can either run at 1080p at 60 frames a second or you can do 720p at the 120. That's the part that sucks actually run both.
Speaker 1Yes, exactly, and I don't like do a guy zelda?
Speaker 2yeah, exactly that's why. That's why they can do this to us and screw us over. I'll tell you why here in a bit. But no, so the screen is better technically. How much better? I'm not sure it's. Again, for what you're going to get. You're getting a better screen when you're playing Is it. Oled no.
Speaker 3I thought we were promised that at some point.
Speaker 2We got an OLED screen on the. They had to switch OLED, but they're not making this one an OLED screen. It's not.
Speaker 1Oh, they're going to release this one OLED as well.
Speaker 2They're going to end up being an OLED. Yes, there will be an OLED version of it.
Speaker 1So on the dock I'm being butt-fucked. What are we doing?
Speaker 2No lube. So do you remember the c button that they've been, that the little weird button that they had on there like oh, we don't know what it does. They're calling it a c button because now there's gonna be an in-game chat. Do you know how? Xbox and playstation say you can use discord. Nintendo said f y'all, we can just make our own discord oh yeah the app.
Speaker 2No, there's no app it's now into the system. You press this little c button, you can have your in-game chat, you can talk to people, and all that. Um, the actual switch has a microphone. They said that it's going to be really good. I'm like it's probably not. So you can probably use a headset, um. But and there also is a camera that you can connect to your switch while it's docked and have it placed on you to where you can literally have your own little Discord thing going on, and it'll even have, depending on the game, it'll have an overlay where it'll put your face in front of the game.
Speaker 1Didn't they do the same shit with the Wii U?
Speaker 2I'm not sure.
Speaker 1It started sounding like the Wii U again.
Speaker 2It seems like they're just making their own Discord. I know, but usually when they try to level up consoles.
Speaker 1The next console sucks ass. Like the Wii did great and the Wii U sucked ass, the Switch did great, so the Switch is gonna suck ass.
Speaker 2I don't think it's gonna suck, I just think it doesn't sound good sounds like they're gonna jam a bunch of shit to it.
Speaker 3It's gonna be this inquires that they spend a lot of time does this bitch, does this motherfucker play on 4K?
Speaker 1can we get to that?
Speaker 2Just gave you the C button for the in-game chat.
Speaker 1Skip this shit.
Speaker 2The Joy-Cons can be used as little as like a mouse to play civic games. Apparently, If you put the Joy-Con on its side, you can use it as a mouse.
Speaker 1Bro, xbox is collabing with Steam. They're killing you guys. I need everyone to know this because I'm going to be honest with you. As soon as Xbox does this, playstation is fucked, because now we can play your games, so you can have the Xbox games. We got your shit. Because I'm going to be honest with you, once this happens, nintendo is going to be the only competitor, and then you'll be like we're not going to release our games anywhere else, so fuck you guys Come to us. You know what's going to happen.
Speaker 2People are going to figure it the fuck out. There's going to be mods like a motherfucker on Steam.
Speaker 3Yeah, it's going to be crazy, so that's also a thing. Are they going to fix their online servers? Online servers are going to be trash.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're not wrong. You're not wrong whatsoever.
Speaker 1So that's it when it comes to the actual physical, like the handheld part.
Speaker 2Oh so jack shit. And so the dock. It can do 4K. Okay, Inside the dock, put it on the dock. It can do up to 4K. It's not going to do 120. It'll probably do because, again, our Xboxes don't do 4K 120. They do 4K 60. I'm guessing this thing won't even do 4K 60. Probably do 4K 30.
Speaker 1a second. What's the point? You're not doing 4K.
Speaker 2Again, our Xboxes aren't doing 4K at 60 consistently, depending on the game.
Speaker 1I know, but our Xboxes can consistently do 4K 4K at 30. It sounds like if it's raining in Zelda, I'm cooked no.
Speaker 3Red Dead Redemption runs 4K. Red Dead Redemption is very empty.
Speaker 1It's a very empty open map. It doesn't do.
Speaker 2cyberpunk runs at 4k, but cyberpunk runs at like 4k, 30, if 4k at all so the actual dock has, like the most has, cooling as well, which probably makes this possible because it has a little fan that actually keeps it cool. So they're trying to be able to do 4k and but they also in docked mode. You have options as to what you want to do. You can have it go up to 4K at 130. You can do 4K at 30. You can do 1440p. So if you have a monitor, you have it connect to your monitor. You can do it that way. So the dock is fine, it does its thing. The actual Switch itself will have 256 gigs of storage to start. It's faster speed storage. It's nothing close to an SSD that the Xbox and Playstation are now doing. It's nothing close to that, but the loading times will be better were the loading times ever a problem?
Joy-Cons, Controllers and Hardware Specs
Speaker 2but you know what's crazy. Now you're going to be really mad about this for the games. The game cards are not going to have the game on there anymore what these game cards are practically going to be the game on there anymore.
Speaker 2What? These game cards are practically going to be empty, you know, just like the discs. You know how. For an Xbox they're access cards. They're literally just access All you do, because you're going to download the whole game after you put the game in and you're going to have to download it Because the games won't actually have the games in there anymore. You're just going to be a to say, hey, I bought it and you'll be downloading it pretty much all the whole thing. So, with all that extra storage space, you're just going to be eating through a lot more of it with these games, because they're going to be nicer games, they're going to be more detailed, but you're going to be downloading the whole thing because it's not going to be on that stupid card, because the cards are the same size. They haven't upgraded them anything. So that part sucks.
Speaker 1It's like an encryption key.
Speaker 2Yeah, again, that's what Xbox and PlayStation is doing.
Speaker 1We can't act like that's obvious, yeah, but Xbox gives me a fucking terabyte when I buy one, true?
Speaker 2And you can still upgrade them. With these, you can still use the SD cards. You have to get the upgraded SD cards.
Speaker 1Again, xbox is like hey, here's a terabyte, don't even have to worry about it. As long as about Black Ops games, you can get as many as you want. If you try to install a Black Ops game GTA and Red Dead that's it. That's everything you can have. It is literally everything.
Speaker 2Yeah, but that's it on that. That's the part on that. So the dock and then new Pro Controller. They have new back buttons built into the actual Pro Controller.
Speaker 1I'm not going to use. Yeah, I'm not going to use that.
Speaker 2They're remappable. It's just the one. It's not necessarily all that.
Speaker 1That's like a competitive thing. I'm not playing shit competitive except Mario Kart.
Speaker 3Which I am getting a new one. We'll get to that, do you?
Speaker 1need a new Smash game? Probably not.
Speaker 2We'll get to that. They only release those game Dude.
Speaker 1I've been waiting on Mario Kart since the fucking Wii U came out.
Speaker 2So the pro controller will be $10 more expensive. It'll be $80 instead of $70. It'll be $80 instead of $70.
Speaker 3The.
Speaker 2Joy-Con, no just the controller. The.
Speaker 1Joy-Con's will be $90. What the fuck the.
Speaker 2Joy-Con's will be $90 because they're magnetic. They actually it's not just sliding. I already don't like are they bigger? They?
Speaker 1are bigger, like how much?
Speaker 2bigger. They're not going to be, as they're not going to make, oh, so I'm never going to use them anyway. Exactly. That's what I'm saying Honestly. As long as I have a pro controller, I'm never going to use the joy con.
Speaker 1So it is getting a fucking like little thing with the joy cons here. Fuck you, like I'm not, I don't use joy cons. They stay on the Switch. Yeah, I don't use them.
Speaker 2They're fucking useless, unless you're forced to.
Speaker 1Exactly, but the Pro Controller is that good. Real quick Pro Controller is a great fucking controller. It's my second favorite controller I've ever used Like I think you've bought since the start and it still works perfectly. It's awesome.
Speaker 2It's very comfortable. It is comfortable to hold. It's only second for me to the.
Speaker 1Xbox controller. Agreed, I think the Xbox controller is a little bulkier. Yes, but you know.
Speaker 2My second favorite controller I've ever used. For sure, it's awesome PS2 has the worst controller of all time.
Speaker 3PS2 has the worst controller of all time.
Speaker 2PS3.
Speaker 3No, yeah, PS3, PS3.
Speaker 2I hate the DualShocks, I just hate them.
Speaker 1Yeah, PS2 was the start of that.
Speaker 2Sorry. Ps3 and PS4, I hated those. I don't like the PS3. The DualSense for the PS5 is actually not bad, but again they just got bulkier. But I'm never going to like the sticks. They're too close, the sticks too close to each other.
Speaker 1The Xbox One is perfect. They're far apart. No question.
Speaker 2Exactly, that's how it's meant to be. So I told you about the Joy-Cons, told you about the dock mode, told you about the camera that you plug in via USB-C, so the Switch when you're playing tabletop which, again, most people don't. There's two USB-C ports One on the top, one on the bottom. So if you have it on its stand, you actually can charge at the same time and it'll work. Well, that's actually a perfect thing. That's something that all the other handhelds have. Because, hey, you can't necessarily guarantee me what the use case is going to be. You have options. Cool, alright, this is where we get to some of the other things.
Speaker 1So I told you about the games. If this motherfucker is more expensive than a Steam Deck, I'm not going to buy it.
Speaker 2Told you about the games. It's not. Huh, well, we'll see.
Speaker 3Bro, what is the point?
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 3Was that the camera?
Speaker 2Yeah, that's the camera.
Speaker 3Oh my God, I think it's about $100.
Speaker 2I'm never going to touch it. I'm like I don't need people to see me Looks like a Dyson fan.
Speaker 2It does kind of look like a Dyson product, michael, why do you? So that's all the physical stuff, game stuff. Told you about the games, told you about the downloads, so we'll give you, like the game. So the first game that's going to be out on launch day is Mario Kart, mario Kart World Wow it. So the first, the game that's going to be out on launch day is Mario Kart, mario Kart World. Fuck, wow, what the fuck it's called Mario Kart. Watch a Go ahead and watch a trailer. Do it on quiet. Watch the trailer, do it that way, and then I Don't look at anything else, just look at the trailer of Mario Kart World. So Mario Kart World will be the game that's going to be out on launch day.
Speaker 3Okay, like Mario Odyssey? Yes, exactly, can we get another Odyssey game, bro You're telling me that's like one of my favorite Switch games I've ever played. I played that when I was like eight and I still think it's one of the best games I've ever played.
Speaker 2Oh, also when it comes to the games, you can share games. Game share Huh.
Speaker 3Game share.
Speaker 2Game share, so if one person has the game and you have another person around that doesn't have the game. You can Wait around, yeah.
Speaker 3Not through online.
Speaker 2Not through online so it's not like PlayStation. No, Actually it might be.
Speaker 1I'm not totally sure about that. I'm not.
Speaker 2No, it's not but no, but it is game share. If you have two consoles near each other one person has a game, the other doesn't you can share the game and play at the same time. Okay, um, they also do the game. So the virtual card. So if you get the because again, if you have the card, you're just digitally downloading anyway they say hell, you can still play it as long as you've had the card once you can do all that. So that's with that. Make sure I have all the gaming stuff right. Once Chase gets through this whole trailer for Mario Kart, I will tell him what the Mario Kart World looks like.
Speaker 3What are the?
Speaker 2games. There is a Donkey Kong game, the first new Donkey Kong game in a long time. It really is Donkey Kong Odyssey.
Speaker 3Donkey Kong Odyssey.
Speaker 2So, lily, if you could see a little trailer right here. I've never really been a big Donkey Kong fan, really haven't.
Speaker 1They butchered my boy. What the fuck is their jet skis? The?
Speaker 2fuck are we doing? I knew you wouldn't necessarily be all positive from the start.
Speaker 1No, the fuck are we doing? I knew you would necessarily be all positive from the start. No, this shit look ass.
Speaker 224 people Online's gonna be gay?
Speaker 1No, it's not even fun Once you watch it. Why are we wall riding? No, this shit's gonna be so ass.
Speaker 2No, this shit's gonna be ass.
Speaker 1No, no, they ruined it all. What game is?
Speaker 3Samus from. That's cool. Huh, what game is Samus from?
Speaker 2That's Super Metroid, super Metroid, there's a new Metroid game.
Speaker 3Metroid it looks like Halo. Look, it looks like Halo.
Speaker 1No, what the fuck are we doing? No, this shit's ass. This shit's ass.
Speaker 3No, why is that new Metroid?
Speaker 1I'm a minute 32 in, and I already want this back how you got the same fucking concept for mario kart since you fucking invented, and then you're gonna change that shit up and it all be ass do you know what I saw?
Speaker 2I saw, I thought of. As soon as I saw it, they pretty much said hey, we could just make mario kart more like forza horizon that shit looks like the fucking sonic racing games because they give you a whole world that you can drive on.
Speaker 1yes, but them bitches were good, yeah. Yeah, have you played any Sonic Racing games?
Speaker 2Yeah, it looks exactly like that. Again, I actually liked what.
Speaker 1I saw my nigga. I see no skill. I see a whole lot of bullshit and fucking wall writing.
Speaker 2There's options. Yes, for sure.
Speaker 1Options my nigga, there is no skill in this.
Speaker 2I didn't think you would. I didn't think it'd be this negative from the start.
Speaker 1I'm a minute 32 at it and I don't even watch it.
Speaker 2So you get options to do actual races on actual maps, just like just like the last Mario Kart games, but you also have a spot to be dropped into a world where you can just pretty much drive it all. Just like Forza Horizon, literally.
Speaker 1That's what it is. Stop making every game open world Nigga. This is a racing game. It is Mario Kart New.
Speaker 3Kirby game New Kirby game.
Speaker 2There's going to be a Kirby game that's going to be available in 2025? I hear, yes, it's called.
Speaker 1Air Riders. Is it open world or is it 2D?
Speaker 2I don't know, they just did a little quick thing of it. They didn't really do anything a lot, didn't?
Speaker 1I like the big. I want an open world Kirby game. That'd be cool is this just a no. This shit's gay, this shit's ass, this shit's ass ass, ass, ass, hot ass just a quick trailer.
Speaker 3Metroid it looks like Halo ass. Just a quick trailer Metroid, it looks like Halo, I don't the trailer. Yeah, it looks too much like Halo with the entire UI welcome tour. That's probably not. That's definitely not good as a game room. People are still playing Mario Kart Wii. Okay, okay, because that shit was good, it was lit.
Speaker 2He got him freaking out. That shit was hot. Donkey Kong Bonanza looks good. I don't give a fuck, mario Kart's all he cares about. Do you want to know the kicker? No, that game is going to be $80.
Speaker 1Go fuck yourself, not paying it $80?
Speaker 2$80.
Speaker 3So they're raising the price of the ballgame.
Speaker 2Got it. So here's the kicker. Oh, by the way, also they're releasing a GameCube virtual console, just like they've been doing the other stuff. So if you pay for the service-.
Speaker 1Dude. Your virtual consoles don't have any of the major titles. What the fuck are we doing?
Speaker 2There is not a single virtual console with a major title I want to play, and there will be a first party GameCube controller coming out with it Dude again there is how do you have all these virtual consoles?
Speaker 1Can you name me four games on the virtual console? Any of them?
Speaker 2Probably not on the Spartan, now that you ask.
Speaker 1Any Name any.
Speaker 2Zelda.
Speaker 1No, not on there.
Speaker 2There's some Zelda games that are on there? No, there's not I'm thinking of Zelda Wind Waker, because it's going to be on GameCube. Wind Waker is not fucking on there, it's going to be with GameCube.
Speaker 1Cool, wind Waker has three fucking re-releases. Cool yeah, I can play the Wind Waker on the fucking Wii U. You're going to take the only Zelda game you've re. There's not the original one. You can't play fucking Majora's Mask. You can't play Ocarina of Time. You can't play the original Mario game. You can't play any of the fucking games. I'm here. I wanted to play Mario 64. Why the fuck I can't play Mario 64? Why don't you have that shit? I can't play Mario Kart 64. Y'all don't have shit. Mario Galaxy, dude. None of the Mario titles. You have zero Mario titles.
Speaker 2I didn't tell you something that will make you mad. So for a lot of the games there will be Switch 2 versions of them. That they're just going to do a re-release of the games. But if you already have the game you can just pay an upgrade price $30. So who knows what the price is going to be? They haven't said but like Zelda and Breath of the Wild. And why am I forgetting the name of the other one?
Speaker 3Don't look at me, I don't play Zelda.
Mario Kart World and New Games
Speaker 2Breath of the Wild and the second one. That wasn't very good.
Speaker 1I like it, it's actually a very fun game. I don't it's bullshit and I don't want to build shit, I want to fight shit Tears. By the way, here's the kingdom.
Speaker 2But there's going to be an upgrade fee to make it. Because there will be better performance, it'll run better Again. That's all I've really ever wanted, so I actually might pay the upgrade price for this.
Speaker 1This is Nintendo Direct, and we're going to show you how to tank your gaming company. We're going to make you pay more for the games you already own, yeah, but but. Xbox is like oh yeah, you already own this shit, let's put it on Game Pass and leave it on Game Pass. That's true.
Speaker 2No, you're not wrong.
Speaker 1You can get any Forza game right now on Game Pass, but that's where Nintendo has it. Xbox will release a game and then put that bitch on Game Pass. That's where Nintendo has us by the balls. They're like they didn't know. We're only going to get it here. Huh.
Speaker 3What do you mean? $10?
Speaker 2Apparently, some of it's going to be like giving you some more content and stuff too. What the fuck.
Speaker 1Again, you're telling me you're going to give me more content for.
Speaker 2Breath of the Wild. I'm scared. The game's fucking 10.
Speaker 1I'm scared if it comes Breath of the Wild's. Almost 10 years old, you know that, yeah. So what fucking content are you going to give me no, for sure, but if I I'm not gonna buy a Switch 2, I'm gonna be honest with you. The only thing I care about is Mario Kart, and that shit looks ass. I'm gonna wait till you buy the Switch 2, I'm gonna come over and play Mario Kart and then I'm gonna decide if that shit's ass.
Speaker 2See, that's where the problem comes with me. How much is it? The Switch 2? It's $450 $450, but there's a bundle. So they have two options. $450. Oh, $450? $450. But, oh, but there's a bundle. They have a, they have. So they have two options. You can buy the Switch by itself for $450, or you can have a bundle with Mario Kart World for $500.
Speaker 1That bitch, not a pack-in For $500. It's not a pack-in. No. What? What happened to pack-in titles? Xbox and PlayStation don't do that shit. Here you can get this game for free. Nah, xbox don't even do that. Xbox is like if you just pay for Game Pass every month, we'll give you a shit ton of games.
Speaker 2But again, they're making a lot more money off of you than if they just put a game in there. $16 a month over a year that's. They make them bank off a lot of people.
Speaker 1Yeah sure, now, not everyone's gonna play shit on game pass I personally I'll pick some shit off game pass like, fuck yeah, I'm gonna play this I had capability to, why not?
Speaker 2but yes, so, and apparently some of the upgrades will be free if you have, if you pay for this, for their, for their online service so they're dipping their balls in my mouth and then ask me if I like it that's exactly what they're doing $450 made me scared. I was really scared that I'd try to go $500, because I'm sitting there like there's no way they can possibly do $500 when I'm getting Xbox for $500. So I'm like that $450, after taxes.
Speaker 1I'm just going to go buy an.
Speaker 2Xbox. And how are you going to screw me? How are you going to screw me and say, oh, you can bundle it and save $30 on this Mario Kart game if you buy it all together, so I'm not going to have to pay $500. $500 in my brain is a number where I'm like that is a hurdle for me to jump over $500 to me is I am getting a console that can run anything I want it to. I can buy a PS4 digital edition for $450.
Speaker 1PS4 digital edition for $450.
Speaker 2Ps5. Sorry, ps. Digital edition.
Speaker 1PS5.
Speaker 2Sorry, PS5 digital edition my bad.
Speaker 1PS5 digital for 450.
Speaker 2I could buy an Xbox Series X digital edition for 450.
Speaker 1Shit. You get a Series S and a dual extension and an Xbox Series S is 300 bucks 350. She nowadays probably even that's probably like you can put.
Speaker 2You find oneself pretty consistent like 275 dude yeah, yes, and the s plays everything in x will. Yeah, exactly, okay, real quick again I'm feeling nervous about this, michael, why do you?
Speaker 1again anybody that wants to come over to xbox. We now have steam so you legit just log into your steam account.
Speaker 2You can play whatever the fuck you want uh it's a lot man, it's a lot Donkey Kong game looks very good. It looks like it's Donkey Kong Odyssey pretty much. I don't give a fuck.
Speaker 1Donkey Kong's not a big enough character to anybody for them to fucking care.
Speaker 2Again I.
Speaker 1Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude. Your only selling point right now to me is Mario Kart, and I don't want to play it. And I don't want to play it and you're not sure.
Speaker 2Yes, I totally understand, dude, I've played every Mario Kart.
Speaker 1I have Mario Kart on several consoles. Yeah, I don't want to play it. There's nothing there for me 24 people in a here's.
Speaker 2One thing that is fun Is that you can On the map, you can kind of. You have to drive when you pick a race. You're doing a race and then driving to the next race. That sounds like a lot of hard work. Instead of loading times. That sounds fun to me. Nigga, I am on a fucking.
Speaker 1It is a go-kart. I'm on a racetrack. What the fuck are we doing? Do not. Jace is a Mario Kart purist here, so this is definitely a huge thing for him, because the whole point about Mario Kart is you gain skill by racing it again and again and again so you can build a actual. I can run a course in my brain right now, front to back, drifting everything I'm going to perfect, drift, this entire course.
Speaker 2There'll be races, you'll be able to do maps like those, but you're lying because they're all.
Speaker 1All fucking 24 of the first 24 maps they give us are going to be hot ass and they're all going to be the same. And I apps they give us are going to be hot ass and they're all be the same, and I'm be like, oh, I'm on, I'm now on ice. Now my drifts are fucking different oh, and apparently that shit's gay.
Speaker 2Just like forza, there will be like conditions where it'll start raining and it'll change the way you race. Nigga, I will go, you know random chance yeah depending on what time of day it is. So it's gonna be. It can be night, it can be raining, and it'll change the way you race.
Speaker 1I'll just go play Forza, I'll go play Forza 4.
Speaker 2It's Forza and Mario Kart had a baby.
Speaker 1But here's the thing. I'll go play Forza for free. It's free, and it'll play in 4K. It'll probably start raining on Mario Kart. I'll start lagging like a motherfucker. I'll be like are you? Drifting, I don't know.
Speaker 3I Do not combine this with online Dude.
Speaker 2I can't even imagine.
Speaker 1I can't even. Huh, you can do it, it's online play as well. I can't even imagine trying to play online 24 different connections.
Speaker 2We're going to be dropping like flies.
Speaker 1If the host has bad Wi-Fi, there's no one in the fucking world that can contain it. Nintendo can't even run a party of eight people 24? 24 in a match. Nintendo can't even run a party of eight people 24?
Speaker 224 in a match. It's crazy.
Speaker 1You're talking about the Nintendo where you've played Smash Online, you get booted for no fucking reason.
Speaker 3Oh my God, Smash Online is terrible. At random you just get booted.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, they're making a lot of crazy claims, man, I don't know Claims. They say they're the next messiah, apparently I'm, I'm not feeling great about it, michael, why do you I? I will not be at a rush to go play it, go get it on launch day, I'm not. But here's the problem I know I'm going to buy it eventually. It's going to happen eventually. It is not if, but when. And why do y'all negroes keep drinking my drink? I gotta y'all got away with one, but like two it's crazy.
Speaker 3I had two I'm a little parched. Oh dude, I was parched that is literally just halo, it's halo metroid.
Speaker 2Yeah, I need you to look at this Apparently. On that game, on the Metroid game, you can use the mouse mode. It literally is Donkey Kong Odyssey, which I'm like. Okay, that'll be fun.
Speaker 3I need you to look at this. Tell me this is just Halo Reach.
Speaker 1Apparently on the part where you're Hold on Metroid UI has always looked like that.
Speaker 3Has it always.
Speaker 1Yeah, so Metroid has a different game. It was on, it was on ds, it's ui also looked like that, so metroid's ui has looked at that. Since it's been in first person, I can't get that. Um, I guess that's not something you two would know because you've never played a metroid game.
Speaker 2But apparently you'll be able to use mouse mode on that so lateral movement?
Speaker 3how am I supposed to lateral movement?
Speaker 1metroid works different. Metroid works where her gun and the movement operate differently which is realistic, so like when you would play on the ds which is what was on the d-pad would move the gun okay okay, so real. So yeah, that's true to metroid, but personally I don't fucking like metroid. I, I, I don't care. Like the 2D games I liked, because it was basically just a platformer. The 3D ones are ass.
Speaker 2And Donkey Kong is a 3D, it is 3D Odyssey, it is a 3D world.
Speaker 1That's cool. Donkey Kong looks good, but everything else, fuck it. I don't give a shit.
Speaker 2It's going to be a win, if not, if play it, because I want to be able to play Zelda better.
Speaker 1It's probably the only game I'm like oh, that might be interesting, but again it's just another platformer.
Speaker 2Imagine Breath of the Wild actually running. I could ride the motorcycle and be able to actually play.
Speaker 3Don't let it rain.
Speaker 1No, you won't.
Speaker 3Yeah, I think it will. Don't let it storm.
Speaker 1If it starts raining, you're fucked. You've done that. You've been on the bike. You know the little area down towards the coast that little village. You start going down there and it starts raining and the thunderstorm starts and the game just stops.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're getting three frames per year.
Speaker 1If you're getting frames, it will just flat stop moving.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1But all the sound's still going and the game's still running.
Speaker 2It gets so choppy bro.
Speaker 1It gets so choppy you can't even get off the bike. It won't even take commands.
Speaker 2Yeah, it gets so choppy you can't even get off the bike. It won't even take commands, yeah, so that's most of it. That's pretty much the short and the long. There's things to like, it's just. And then, like we kind of are, you said, before you even heard anything about it is that there's going to be an OLED version of this that'll pump it up to $500.
Speaker 1$50 more Dude. I's not worth it.
Speaker 3You ever seen someone on a Steam Deck? Yeah, it is so nice. Steam Deck is awesome.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's more expensive than a Steam Deck, my friend brings a lot of time.
Speaker 3There are.
Speaker 2Steam Decks that are cheaper than this right now, oh yeah, and you can buy docks to play it on a monitor. You can do all that and you're getting more powerful games, which you'll be getting here Again, nintendo. This is where I give them a tad bit of credit, at least they're trying.
Speaker 1They get no credit. A Steam Deck can win fucking Elden Ring.
Speaker 2Oh, Elden Ring's coming to the Switch.
Speaker 3No it's not. What boss am I fighting on that?
Speaker 2They're bringing Elden Ring to the Switch Switch 2, not regular Switch. It doesn't matter.
Speaker 1You're going to get to Redon, that basically explodes.
Speaker 2So there is going to be Elden Ring no.
Speaker 1No, no, I am not. You're going to get the first large boss and it is going to malfunction you are going to get, you are going to exit.
Speaker 3Exit the first catacomb.
Speaker 2Into the mic.
Speaker 3In the mic You're going to see the ur tree in front of you. The game's gonna crash Because Elden.
Speaker 1Ring stays, the entire world is always loaded you can go anywhere.
Speaker 3It doesn't load the world. There's no loading frames.
Speaker 1It only loads once you go into a building. At all times the map is loaded, the enemies exist. It can't run that. It can't even run Zelda Leg legit in zelda. It's just whatever you can see exist and it can't even run that and would you?
Speaker 2would you believe me if I said, if I told you that from software is making a nintendo switch exclusive game? It's called the duskbloods and people are pretty much calling it the. It's like a Bloodborne 2. Not an actual name, but in what it's supposed to be it's very much a Bloodborne type of game.
Speaker 1I can't wait until they can't release this, because they can't run them on hardware.
Speaker 2But yeah, it's going to be very similar to that.
Speaker 3It's going to be like Wukong again. That was definitely not an Xbox problem, though. What Wukong.
Speaker 2Wukong is a good game now. Yeah, people love that game.
Speaker 3Yeah, people love that game.
Speaker 2But yeah, from Software is making a Nintendo Switch exclusive game.
Speaker 3Duskbloods.
Speaker 2Everybody's saying it is a Bloodborne Because apparently there was an issue between From Software and PlayStation Making this game for PlayStation. Apparently they kind of couldn't make it together.
Speaker 1PlayStation is also equally trying to kill their own company. What the fuck is up with those two companies. Xbox is like yeah, we can have our games. The more people that play, the better. Do you know why Xbox is like we're already rich?
Speaker 2Yeah, well, we just make money off of you.
Speaker 1Xbox is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft, we can just toss money whatever the fuck we feel like.
Speaker 2Honestly, xbox has been at a loss for a long time. But they're like, hey, if we just get less and less into this console game, we could just sell our games to everybody. We'll make our money in the longer. Anyway. That's kind of crazy. Get everybody into freaking Game Pass and we will make money hand over fist, Because you can get legit.
Speaker 1I can go to my laptop right now and boot up a fucking Xbox game. Yeah, because Microsoft is everywhere.
Speaker 2You can get Game Pass on Switch, I believe.
Speaker 1You can Because if you look, if you open up anything that connects to the internet, you can go to a website to go to Microsoft to get the Game Pass. Yeah, I could have never bought any games from steam. Open up my thing and I could be playing any game I want with an xbox controller, because xbox controllers connect to anything without any difficulty. You got a usbc, you got a plug.
Speaker 2xbox controller is not connected to it okay, so we're not very positive about this. So is there is there something they could have added this switch to to make make it worth $450?
Speaker 1Don't make it, just make a different console.
Speaker 3Nothing that could have made it $450.
Speaker 2Nothing $450. Dude, I'm asking, I know you're not.
Speaker 1I'm asking, I'm not trying to take up for it or anything what you could have did by making it $450 is stop increasing the price on everything and making me pay for the games I already got. Second thing is if that motherfucker can run Elden Ring, I'll pay for it.
Speaker 2If it can truly run.
Speaker 1Elden Ring. I'm not talking frame by frame of I'm rolling and this nigga's already hitting me, of this nigga's acting in my face, but I've rolled and I'm just dead there is no way it can run.
Speaker 3Elden Ring.
Speaker 1All I can think of is some of the large fights. The fire giant's going to go down a roll and the game's going to crash. It's going to crash, dude, like Radon coming down from the sky. Game is good, it is over. As soon as that happens, it is over, and those are two of the bigger bosses you can fight.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1You're not wrong, let alone any of the dragons that throw constant lightning. Oh yeah, you want to try to fight Bale.
Speaker 3Game's over. God forbid a DLC boss. Oh it's over. Yeah, you're not Dude.
Speaker 2Yeah, I totally understand. I'm not very happy about this either. I'm not.
Speaker 1And. I'm talking my Xbox feels hot after I fight. I'm on Elden Ring too long yeah.
Speaker 3I know you guys aren't too big in the VR space, right, but you know what the HTC Valve is. Yeah Well, htc Vive. It's one of the best VR headsets, one of the most powerful ones. It is $430.
Speaker 1My nigga. The Switch is not worth this.
Speaker 3It is never worth it? I don't think so either.
Speaker 1Your games are great, you only have those games. I agree with you. Only thing is Buy the balls. Your games don't have replayability.
Speaker 2If you're not a Nintendo fanboy, it does suck, agreed. But again.
Speaker 1Nintendo games are the games you 100% play.
Speaker 2They are. I think Nintendo games are very. They're all collect-a-thons.
Speaker 1Every Nintendo game is a goddamn collect-a-thon. Odyssey is a collect-a-thon. Odyssey is a collect-a-thon. Zelda is a collect-a-thon.
Speaker 2I love Pokemon. Pokemon is a collect-a-thon. I love them. I do too. Oh, pokemon, pokemon, pokemon. There will be a Switch 2 version of Pokemon.
Speaker 1I have played Scarlet and Violet. It is ass. I don't know what people saw Legit. Every character has stories, but there's now 37 gyms.
Speaker 2Yeah, but there'll be a new Pokemon game, pokemon Z plus A. Have you?
Speaker 1played any of the recent Pokemon games.
Speaker 2Name one Pokemon game you've played recently.
Speaker 1I didn't like Scarlet and Violet, it's not good, I can tell you right now. I don't give a fuck about the story. There's too much goddamn talking. I just want to play fucking Pokemon. I legit it is so open ended. I spent an hour not knowing where the fuck to go. I want a track. I want mindless battles straight. Your new Pokemon suck ass. That motherfucker is an apple.
Speaker 3It is nothing else it evolves into an apple pie like again, nintendo makes big ass collect-a-thon.
Speaker 1Nintendo is an RPG. Do an apple pie. Keep on going Like again, I'm not again. Nintendo makes big ass. Collect-a-thon Nintendo is an RPG and a platforming console.
Speaker 3That is all you guys make.
Speaker 1Well, you don't make shit else. Good, you make really good RPGs and really good platformers, and then ones that are somewhere in the middle, like Mario yeah, you do jack shit. Good, mario Kart's the one thing that's different. You do good, you fucking have that bitch up.
Speaker 2A lot of people love mario kart. You're, you're, you are definitely on the outside looking in on that. People are loving it. But again, a lot of these people don't understand, like, oh, this is just forza horizon 2876 hours. Hours 2 786 hours no, you're telling me what I have in a mario kart 8 yeah, my whole thing.
Speaker 2My problem with that is is that if you have those maps, it doesn't look there's gonna be a ton of maps. It looks like they're putting a lot of their work into having that open world that you can drive around in, but like if you don't have enough maps to really start with, because think about it, up to where we're at now, there's upwards like 80 maps that you can play with mario kart.
Speaker 2I put 111 days into mario kart 8 the idea that you're going into just this world and maybe not having enough maps is like this and if, if there's anybody I can say that shit's not good, it's somebody that's put as much hours to me.
Speaker 1There's people that put in more hours than me? No for sure. Yeah, but we both know I can load up right now, and even on the newer maps I can still cook up. Yeah, for sure, I'm not as good on the newer maps.
Speaker 2Right, but again it's all about knowing it or not. But again, you're definitely.
Speaker 1I can't dude, I will just go play Forza, and if I want something different I'll go play Need for Speed.
Speaker 2So this is where I've come at this with right. It is not if, but when. I will do it at some point It'll happen, Because I'll be too curious. I want to play Mario Kart. I want to play some other games that they come out with.
Speaker 1I'll just wait for my girlfriend to buy me one.
Speaker 2We can just split. We can go split skis on one. No, you, you keep that shit. I'd rather burn 200 than have to. Apparently gamestop will take your if you have a regular switch, for they'll pay like 125 bucks for it. That only pays for one-fifth of what the switch will cost. Insane to me. That's like one. It'll give like 125.
Speaker 1So if you have a original switch, hey, hey, if you guys like being fucked by Nintendo, you can come in here and we'll do double penetration for you.
Speaker 2But at least.
Speaker 1I wanted to give you a little bit more. We'll give you a quarter of what you're trying to buy and then resell your Switch for $300. Let's be honest.
Speaker 2If you weren't trying to buy the Switch 2 from them. They'll give you like $50 and a smile.
Speaker 1And then resell this shit for $200. Yeah, I know.
Speaker 2Oh, he is the Pokemon game.
Speaker 3Yeah, Pokemon Showdown.
Speaker 2But yeah, it is a. I'm not. It's not great, especially the price. If they could have knocked it down to $400, I would be in a totally different headspace. Again, the Switch OLED is $350. And whether we like it or not, I have to give it credit that it is an upgrade from the switch regular switch in every way it is. It is an upgrade again, other than the OLED screen. It is an upgrade in every other way it is. If it was $400 I'd be more. I feel a lot better about it, but $450 is a huge pill to swallow and even if I do like the Mario Kart game, which I think in general I feel a lot better about it, but 450 is a huge pill to swallow and even if I do like the Mario Kart game, which I I think in general I'm positive on it just $80 is crazy $80 for a game is absolutely the.
Speaker 2Let's be honest, the the going rate for games now was 70 bucks. If you're getting a new, brand new Switch game, I mean a brand new Xbox game or PlayStation game, it's 70 bucks to start, and then you're starting talking about like $85, $90 to get Deluxe, and then it's over $100 for like the Master Edition and stuff like that of these games. But my problem is that if Mario Kart, a game like this, I took one look away and you're already in my notifications.
Speaker 3My God, you're still waiting, do you have?
Speaker 2Blaziken, no. So my question, so my problem, is that if this game, that is as simple as it is, is going to be $80, what is GTA going to do when they come out with this game? They're going to make it $100? Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1But you know what I'm going to pay for it oh yeah, I didn't want to pay for gta 6 but I'm saying like this this that decision might impact the whole gaming industry.
Speaker 270, something we've all kind of accepted because like, okay, it's fine, like game prices have not gone up for so long, so 70 doesn't seem that bad. But like, if it goes up to 80 for mario kart, like imagine what the rest of the gaming industry is going to do. And it's a problem. People are going to pay for it because it's it's nintendo, I don't know, I'm just feeling. I'm feeling real nervous about it. There are some positives but there's a lot of negatives, especially with the price. I'm just not feeling great about it and I'm pretty sure I'm getting the same kind of vibe from you guys that that is the case.
Speaker 3Yeah, it's just not worth it.
Speaker 2And again, I'm going into it as a worthy prisoner because I'm like I will buy it at some point Because I'm a sucker.
Speaker 3If I'm going to have to pay you all that, at least let Waluigi give me a foot job. I mean what. I took that picture.
Speaker 2Oh no, Braylon, are there any pictures of your peepee on your camera roll?
Speaker 3No, there's not any pictures of my peepee on my camera roll.
Speaker 1I swear. All right, let's get this over with All right.
Baseball and Torpedo Bats
Speaker 2So baseball we mentioned this earlier, but I kind of wanted to get to it because this has been a hot-button issue and I think, braylon, you'll be able to be interested and be able to talk on this issue. Braylon, have you seen Torpedo Bats?
Speaker 3Yes, and they're banned now.
Speaker 2I don't think they're actually banned yet.
Speaker 3They're actually banned? No, they're not. I swear. They got banned while I was in middle school.
Speaker 2MLB Torpedo Bats. No, they are not banned.
Speaker 3Not banned yet? No, I swear they are banned. Here's the problem.
Speaker 2They've been around for years. Okay, let's describe what Torpedo Bats are if nobody knows. So baseball just came back started up in the last week or so it's my bad. The dude I'm facing.
Speaker 3Elektor. He just exploded and it didn't kill my Voltorb.
Speaker 2It's back. The Yankees went and scored 20 runs on the opening day against the Brewers and it was making headway because some of the players Volpe Chisholm. It was like four home runs hit in the first inning. It was like six home runs, seven home runs hit in like the first three innings.
Speaker 2The Yankees start off the season very hot and everybody starts talking about these torpedo bats. Because what torpedo bats are is that they're moving the wood from the barrel of the bat. They're just moving the barrel down a little bit to where some of these players are actually hitting the ball a lot more often. They're just moving some of the wood down. It is as of the rule book it is. I believe it is legal because they are just moving the wood. The amount of wood is still the same. It's not thicker than what the bats are allowed to be. I think it's like two and five eighths inches or something like that.
Speaker 2And I think the only rule that people are locking themselves into to be like it's not legal is they said it has to be smooth, cause they're trying to say that it's. It's the uniformly smooth from top to bottom, and I'm like that is kind of like a interpretation that it's not necessarily written into in the rule book, but everybody using it the Yankees I'm using it this year, but they've been trying to get players to use bats for years now, and the guy that came up with the idea he's not going to work for the Yankees anymore, he's working for the Marlins. And after the Yankees did and everybody started freaking out, guess what Other teams had already had them and had been using them. So the way I see it is that if it's legal for everybody to use, why not just leave it alone?
Speaker 2Because think about it this way is that there has been so much technology to help pitchers out to where they're at nowadays, where things have gotten so powerful, so dominant for the pitching, I think something at least be able to have technology to help out batting is definitely a good way to go. These bats are not juiced, they're not. They're not juiced, they're not corked, nothing like that. They just kind of move it to where. Hey, this is where we're hitting a lot more often. This is how we're going to interact a little bit and make it a little bit easier for the hitters. That's not a bad thing.
Speaker 3I think that in forms of for entertainment purposes, I think it's very, very good because it's bringing back steroid-era type stats. But I think they're more worried about actual players and how they're performing. I think they're more worried about pitchers because, really think about it, they've been in favor of pitchers forever.
Speaker 2Yep Pitchers have had the upper hand for sure.
Speaker 3I think it makes sense why they've always had the upper hand. Because you have people like Aaron Judge, you can even go back to the steroid era.
Speaker 2The taking away of the shift has helped out a lot. No more shifts to where. That has evened things up a little bit, but pitching is still at such a dominant level that there's so many great pitchers out there To give the everyday batter again. We're not talking about again this one little deviation. People would start to talk about Judge and how he was on a monster. He was on a run there for a little bit, hitting a lot of home runs in the first few games of the season. He doesn't even use the Tribute Abet.
Speaker 3He does not. Yeah, it's just Aaron Judge being Aaron Judge. He's just a monster Again.
Speaker 2How much does that suck. We watch him in the playoffs and not really do a lot In the World Series and we're like, oh, we need to see this in the postseason and the next thing you know, he starts off the season so good. And in the back of my brain, even though I'm so happy to watch him do as great as he is, be a monster, right I'm like, but does this all matter if he can't do this in the playoffs when it actually matters? I feel like I have to poo-poo it in my own brain because I'm sitting here like, can he do this when it really matters in the postseason? It's kind of it's just a weird little spot to be in as a Yankee fan because we're like, as great as he is man, we just have to see it when it matters. He never does it when it matters. I think he's at the point now because he's so great. I think all of this it almost makes the regular season for him just seem like this is just normal.
Speaker 3This is just a formality, it's just normal.
Speaker 2Right, and that sucks because watching greatness, sometimes it sucks that we have to poo-poo it in order to be happy with ourselves.
Speaker 1But you know it is what it is. He's at a point where I expect more.
Speaker 2Yeah, I totally agree, I totally agree All right, but torpedo bats?
Speaker 3I think that they will get banned.
Speaker 2I don't think so man, I think they'll get banned. If everybody's able to use them, what does it matter?
Speaker 2It's just Because the way I look at it, the way I saw it, because somebody put it in a perfect way that kind of made me understand the way they moved it. It's just like choking up on the bat, except you don't have to choke up anymore. So, with that being the case, you can still have your hands at the bottom of the bottom of the bat and you still get all the power that you get, because that's that's the trade-off, right. When you choke up, you're not able to get as much power on it. In comparison, try to get the bat speed up, but now you don't have to do that anymore. I think that's. That's kind of what the point is. So the way I look at it, I'm just like if it's available for everybody to use, you have your options. If you like it and it works for you, you can use it. If not, then stick with the regular bat. I just don't understand how it has to be such a big deal I, I don't know, I don't.
Speaker 3It's just so hard to. It's so hard to imagine a world where that doesn't get banned, but I would like it not to for entertainment purposes. But everyone knows it's all about the pitchers. That's all the MLB cares about pitchers and star players. Sure it'll get more highlights from the star players, but what they're really worried about is just the pitchers. It's so hard to.
Speaker 3It's so hard for them to justify something like the torpedo bat when it's making people hit more barrels, but with the extra cost of pitchers also being put to the side in the entertainment because of the fact that they're getting so many bombs hit off of them. I don't know.
Speaker 2I just think it's very hard to assume that it's like everything's over after. You know, five, six days into the season, if we have a whole season worth of torpedo bats and things are like way too slanted for the batters, I can understand making some changes, but as of right now, there's nothing that truly proves that it's like such an overbearing change. So I just think, as of right now, you have to leave it alone. Let players and players use it for a season and see how it goes. But you know, it's just, it's a Patriots are going to be able to adjust and come back stronger and it's just how it goes to give and take.
Speaker 2But I'm just not going to be totally against. Just I'm not going gonna be totally against it when it gives hitters a chance to be able to sit there and do more and again. I'm not even talking about the superstar players, I'm talking about the, the other guys in emlb that don't necessarily look as special, but at least they can put the ball in play if they're not getting jammed up as much again. And to older, to older fans credit like oh, why can't you just adjust and pitch and I'm like well, you can't even just adjust and hit and I'm like, well, pitching is such a high level, like at some point there's only so much you can do, and if just changing the bats up a little bit can be a little bit of a help to make players be more viable from a play-in, play-out basis, I just think you have to give them that shot.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1I agree. I think it, I don't. People's bats are a bad thing. I think it, I don't. I think pitching's only getting more and more impressive. You only do so much while batting.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1So I think it's a good thing. Like the I don't know who the fuck it was, I think it was Braves and somebody else. They had a pitcher. This motherfucker was throwing a curveball. I'm talking, he had full command over it, was throwing it everywhere and it this thing broke 22 inches. It's not a fucking curveball.
Speaker 3It is a monster.
Speaker 1I'm talking. He throws it, it is above them and then it drops in the zone and there's dudes just staring at it. They know it's coming. There's nothing you can do, it's just there. So I like Torpedo Bucks.
Speaker 2It makes baseball more fun and I think that's what you need things that make baseball more fun to watch is definitely a fun thing. Speaking of fun baseball how, jc, I haven't got your uh, your view on it how yankees start to the season it's good, but I'm scoring like crazy.
Speaker 1The start is great. I need you to finish it yeah, we've lost.
Speaker 2We lost last night to the diamondbacks. Um, we're losing right now to the diamondbacks for nothing in the. I think we're in the middle of the fourth inning, so who knows how that game's going to go? Yankees had a great start to the season. Our pitching is definitely going to be a little bit of a weakness there, especially not having Cole as our ace. I think we have other good starting pitchers. It's just we used to have with Cole. It's like our pitching looked very good, but now we're just averaging him.
Speaker 1Is he hurt?
Speaker 2He had Tommy John for the season start. He's out for the year.
Speaker 1Isn't this the second one? I don't know if it's first or second. I think it's the second.
Speaker 2But no, we still have others. Good starting pitching. It's just not enough, and who knows if we're going to be able to survive that and be able to go back to where they want to go. Who am I thinking of? Bellinger's been awesome Getting the bat on the ball.
Speaker 1I said it last year. I was like he'd be a great guy To get it right at the deadline.
Speaker 2He's awesome. I was right, he's awesome.
Speaker 1He's a great utility guy and he's a good bat.
Speaker 2Very good bat. And why am I thinking Goldschmidt, the first baseman, paul?
Speaker 1Goldschmidt.
Speaker 2He's been good too I think the additions huh, he's so old he is, but he plays first base, so on defense is not gonna be bad and he's a good veteran bat that you can have out there and just knows what to do. Um, and jason abengas, he is such a black hole in left field so he's he's still learning to play left field and it's kind of a problem there. But when he, when he bats, he can get on, he can get the bat on the ball. He, he can run, he's very quick, he can steal bases, he can do all of that. Just defensively he's a little bit of a liability. But the Yankees are fun. At least they're playing well. Again, right now is not what the measuring stick is, it's what they can do in the postseason, but they're looking like a good baseball team. That's all I can ask for, right? Yeah, the rest of baseball is just Baseball. It's baseball man. It's 162-game season. It's a lot to follow.
Speaker 1The LA DLA crew has been fun to watch.
Speaker 2I don't know if you've seen any of it LA had two runs yesterday, didn't he, using torpedo bat?
Speaker 1Yeah, he's been playing so well he's starting to look like a superstar. I can't wait for the Reds to trade him, because they don't want to pay his contract.
Speaker 2Probably.
Speaker 1Is there anything I know about Cincinnati teams that are going to trade him because they don't want to pay him? They're for sure going to trade him. They just don't like paying him In LA.
Speaker 2Data Cruz again. This has been two years now since he originally came onto the scene, injury prone a little bit. He has a little moments where he like heats up and then he kind of goes, fades into the background. So I'm not sitting here like when he's playing well, he's great, but when he's not playing well, just he's not as consistent. So I'm just sitting here like I'm not gonna put too much on his plate either way. When he's playing well, I'm gonna, I'm gonna appreciate it, and when he's not, I'm like, oh it's, it's the reds I know, but again when he's not.
Speaker 1I'm going to be like, oh, I can't wait for him to trade him for pennies. He's going to go be elite somewhere else.
Speaker 2Yeah, who can?
Speaker 1actually use his talent.
Speaker 2That's definitely a possibility, without question, but that's about it on the baseball stuff. Man, that's all for baseball. Let's see Basketball Bulls have been playing good basketball For the last month. They've been playing very well.
Speaker 3Let basketball for the last month they've been playing very well, but let's say they're playing this pokemon. My bad bro, I just I'm absolutely wrecking his team with nidoking he's a guy that's a great competitor real quick on college basketball.
Basketball Talk: College and Pro
Speaker 2jace, you've said you've been watching a lot of college basketball and that you didn't want to talk about it because you were worried about how much I've been watching as a, as a, but in the tournament I'm watching plenty. So is there any? Cooper Flagg is the truth. He's so good.
Speaker 1I've said so much about him, I don't have anything else to say. He's just that good.
Speaker 2He plays defense.
Speaker 1He does everything.
Speaker 2He's going to be a good number one pick.
Speaker 1March Madness makes me feel like I'm about to watch the same thing in college football, but it won't be as fun for one team that's just going to dominate the fuck out of everybody else. But unfortunately, in college football it'll be more like five teams are going to dominate the shit out of it and it's going to be not as fun, because then there's going to be three of those teams that are dominating but they're not as good as the other two teams. So it's just going to be a repetitive fucking cycle.
Speaker 2Can I tell you this? Houston, the one of the teams that are in the Final Four. Do you know what? Their average age is 25. Do you want to know the average age of the Oklahoma City Thunder 24. 24. There is a college basketball team that is average age is older than a NBA basketball team, one of the best in the NBA.
Speaker 2It's a weird one. I'm not going to lie to you, but I don't know. I'm not going to sit here. It's a lot of good basketball being played. Um, especially in the tournament, duke is very good. Honestly, the way I see duke, they almost feel inevitable to a certain degree because of how they play. When they played last game and who do they play? I forget who they played last game um, it was alabama. When alabama came in and they were playing, it just felt like. It just felt like from literally from the tip off. Duke just said hey, we're just going to be better than you, and cooper fly didn't even play that well and they won the game by 20. So the idea that cooper fly doesn't have to play great and they're still beating you because they have so much depth it was. It is a very. I think they play houston, this upcoming game and if houston's defense can't take a handle on like, I just don't think they have the scoring enough, even if their defense is going to be able to make an impact.
Speaker 1That's the thing I think Houston's going to have a chance of beating them, because of how good their defense is.
Speaker 2Yeah, but I think offensively they're on a tightrope.
Speaker 1They're abysmal. They're abysmal offensively, but unfortunately defense is what wins championships.
Speaker 2Yeah, but is their defense defensive? Will stop cooper flag if he shows up and plays. Well, I just stopped everybody else. It's hard to say they won't, but again, I don't know. Cooper flag, is that niggas? He's so good that whole team is good.
Speaker 1The uh, what is it I can up? I do, that's the guy. Yes, he's also really good, they're calling him a he's, they're saying, he's lottery pick two dude they. They probably have seven, eight guys on that roster that are all getting drafted and I'm like I believe it, dude, they're that good. Duke's very good, and then they'll be asked for like the next five years again.
Speaker 2Florida's good. Florida's also playing very good basketball as well.
Speaker 1Florida also didn't play nobody, that's true.
Speaker 2And they almost lost last game. They had to like come back in the end.
Speaker 1Yes, In the same way, they've played the best team they've played with Michigan State. Michigan State couldn't fucking score.
Speaker 2Michigan State could not shoot in that game whatsoever, because do you know what our average age?
Speaker 1probably is Fucking 19. Both our guards are freshmen. You know that Our small four are just fucking sophomore, true sophomore.
Speaker 2It was crazy to watch that game because in the first half they were trying to shoot a lot of threes and you can tell. In the second half, like at halftime, tom Izzo went in there and said hey none of you Negroes are going to count. He probably didn't say Negroes, but it would be funny if he did.
Speaker 1He probably said Negroes.
Speaker 2Y'all are not going to shoot any more threes anymore. You're going to drive to the basket, but guess what? The damage had already been done and they weren't shooting threes. So if we're shooting threes and you're shooting twos, it's averaging out. There's Auburn just scoring more than you are.
Speaker 1That was the other thing. Michigan State is great. Anything inside the fucking perimeter they can defend, they can block, they can stop. As soon as we hit perimeters, they are abysmal.
Speaker 2Well, you don't have to, you don't have to save your own two, you can go.
Speaker 1This is where it becomes that Bye.
Speaker 2Braylon, thank you for being on the podcast. He's walking away now.
Speaker 1This is where it becomes that you can tell the guards are freshmen, because those are supposed to be your perimeter defenders and they were abysmal. Both are freshmen, both don't have a handle on their shot yet. They couldn't do it, so it was just inevitable. I expected an elite.
Speaker 2Did you cash out before it happened? Yeah, inevitable, I expected an Elite 8 Elite. Did you cash out before it happened? Yeah, okay, I was hoping you did when you made that bet $150.
Speaker 1There you go, that's it. But I expected them to leave in the Sweet 16 when Ole Miss was busting our ass, but they didn't, and they got to Elite 8, and I was like nope, taking that, and left because I was like that's a bad bet. Yeah, that's a bad bet.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's just. It's very good basketball. I'm going to be watching those games. I've been betting a lot more on basketballs recently, which is what's keeping me engaged in all of it, but no, it's good basketball being played. I can't wait to watch those games. I just hope that we get good basketball games, because this whole tournament there's not been a lot of upsets, man, it's been pretty chalky about no episodes.
Speaker 1Go watch the women's tournament.
Speaker 2You're not watching it and you need to because it's a fucking smoke show, not in the way that people might think. Smoke show as in good basketball teams beating bad basketball teams, right, oh yeah my bad. You have to remember you talk about women there. A little bit People could take it the wrong way.
Speaker 1I just talk to basketball players.
Speaker 2Not that anybody comes to this podcast looking for women's college basketball tips.
Speaker 1Again, my brain just goes they're basketball players.
Speaker 2Very progressive of you. Most people aren't.
Speaker 1I just don't think that hard here. Let me give you one Florida State beat George Mason 94-59. Lsu beat San Diego 103-48. Yeah, usc beat UNC Greensboro 71 to 25. Uh, now, these ain't even the uconn. No one should ever be done this dirty those women had families.
Speaker 2You, you guys, been doing this for years 103 to 34.
Speaker 1Yeah, y'all went out there and dropped 34 south carolina. 108 to 48. What are we doing? 86 to 25. 105 to 61 yeah, they make you are a 16th seed. You are playing the number one. It's gonna look like it. Yeah, like I'd have to air a building out.
Speaker 2Uconn used to do that to everybody for like 10 years and then women's college basketball kind of got good for a little bit there when it comes to having more good teams for the last like three or four years, but UConn's still that team. When they want to, they can just go ahead and destroy everybody because now they're a crew.
Speaker 1Uconn was third ranked and they still beat them by 40. In women's basketball yeah, 40. In women's basketball yeah, 40. Usc is number one ranked. They still beat them by 20. They're in the final four. Uconn is the only number two seed in the final four. The rest of them are all number ones. This is what I expect a bracket to be. I expect every number one team to be here and UConn's the only outlier. Because of who got beat the fuck up? Oh my bad, USC, and USC had gotten lucky.
Speaker 2They lost Juju. That's probably why.
Speaker 1Yeah, but they weren't really even with her, they weren't really beating nobody, they just smoked the fuck out of Mississippi State 96-59. But after that, 67-61.
Speaker 2Juju Watkins is very good basketball.
Speaker 1She's very good, but again, I haven't watched the women's tournament because for some reason women's college basketball is the greatest thing to watch women's sports in personally, and then women's professional basketball. I'm like y'all have missed five laps in a row. Where did your skill go? Y'all were elite in college. What happened? What happened?
Speaker 2You can't tell me I'm lying. Women's college basketball just has a little bit more juice to it, for sure, and I don't know why, I don't know. The play ain't much different. The coaching's just as good and honestly you have to think about it. The girls? They're probably just as well coached. Dude, women's basketball is awesome.
Speaker 1It's awesomely coached. It's a team basketball.
Speaker 2Less athletic, but everything else is top notch.
Speaker 1Dude, I gotta watch Kaitlyn Clark shoot from fucking three-point range all day long Crazy. Now, I like women's basketball. I like basketball.
Speaker 3Basket I like women's basketball.
Speaker 1I like basketball, Basketball's great Women's basketball's more fun to watch College basketball. I can't do pro. I can't do it.
Speaker 2Y'all motherfuckers suck. Two things to talk about in pro basketball and for the men's Embiid set for another arthroscopic knee surgery. You think this is done? He's done forever. If CMC ain't done, then he ain injuries. I just don't think he'll ever again dude about a player.
Speaker 2If they want to play, they're gonna play. Joel and beads was so good in his career he probably stopped right now. He probably a hall of famer already. I don't know. A whole lot of playoff losses, true, but it's easier to make the nba playoffs nba hall of fame, than it is easy as shit but like counting stats wise, like there was a point where he was like he's gonna be one of the best big men of all time, but it is with injuries.
Speaker 2It looks like he's never really gonna be that for a long period of time and I fear he'll feel ever be that good ever again. To be totally honest with you, um Zion, he started playing good and the next thing you know, the Pelicans announced that he won't be playing the rest of the season. I think it's more about them trying to tank the rest of the year so they can have a better draft pick. So I don't. But Zion, to this degree, has missed more games than he's played throughout his NBA career and he's made like $120 million already in his NBA career. I just think it's a bad look. And I understand that the team has to say that he's injured because if they don't, the NBA will get mad at them and say that they're trying to tank on purpose and they'll get fined and all that. But again, I just think it's a bad look for Zion who's had so many issues actually playing games.
Speaker 1He's starting to get to Derek Rose what-if status. I'm not going to have it with you.
Speaker 2Again when he was playing. He was playing awesome. He kind of lost some actual good weight and a lot of you are starting to be consistent. But it's just a bad look. With like 10 games left in the season they decide, hey, we're just going to shut it down. It sends a bad message out there. But again they're doing it because they're trying to tank, get a better draft pick and kind of help out that team. But you know it's a heck. They started the year losing to DeJounte Murray, who they traded for in the offseason. So a lot of bad luck for that team base. When they're, zion's finally starting to play very good basketball. He's playing well and they sit him down for the rest of the year. And basketball I'm just watching basketball here. They're having fun, you know. Did you see? Steph scored 52 last night? He had 14 threes made in the game. He was two off of the record for made threes in a game, do you?
Speaker 1know that's the only record for threes he doesn't have? Yeah, because that one's owned by Klay, that's crazy, that's the only record, I kid you not, he's still.
Speaker 1I think they said he's almost like 1,500 away from James Harden in threes and that in every other statistical three-point category there's no one within 10 of him. They said in certain there's no one within 10 of him. They said in certain it was most games in a row with 10 plus threes taken and 10 plus threes made. You can combine the next five people after him and they still wouldn't have as many as he does. That's crazy.
Speaker 2He's insane man. When he's on fire, it's magical to watch him play ball. It looks different than anybody else, because anybody else is. With athleticism it just looks different, but when Steph's on fire it's just a crazy thing to watch. Oh, and also, heck, jokic got 61 last night. He had a 61-point triple-double and it got ruined in the second overtime by our boy, unfortunately Russell Westbrook, the guy that I really loved watching play.
Speaker 2Oh, he smoked a little, he fouled the guy. He fouled the guy when he was trying to shoot a three and the guy won the game at the line. It's just. When you're Russell Westbrook, you've been playing this game for so long, that's not a mistake that you can make, especially fou on the guy when he's trying to go for that last shot. It's insane. That's not.
Speaker 2That's the suckiest way for nba vet to kind of ruin a basketball game, especially like him, where, like he's already, people people love him but a lot of people like have already have their doubts about him in his whole nba career. So the fact that he's been playing so well with the nuggets and like being a very good player for them when it comes to being a role player, having this on his record, to be like he ruined this basketball game, he ruined a great Jokic game it's definitely not a good look and people are really looking at him and saying how stupid are you? And I'm like, oh, he made a mistake, man, but you know. But again, you're an NBA vet, you've been doing this for long enough. That shouldn't be a mistake you're making. But again, lebron made an equally as bad mistake when he messed up the inbound pass against the freaking Bulls last week, messed it up and gave them a three, so anybody can make a mistake, even if you're one of the best players of all time.
Speaker 2That's it for NBA basketball. That's all I got. So let's shift to football. A few other things and then we'll kind of get out of here. Hendrickson was on the Pat McAfee show today and they were talking about how he was disappointed by the Bengals' stance on his contract. Pretty much looks like they're out of stance still. I think the Bengals are banking on the fact that nobody will give the Bengals what they want to trade him, and they're pretty much trying to strong arm him into saying hey, you're not going to play for anybody else, we're not going to trade you and we still have your rights. So if you want to play, you're just going to have to play with us and we're willing to give you a contract. They want him to take less.
Speaker 1It just won't be what you want, because he wants top-end money, which I understand I do. You are 32. Every other top-end is like five years younger than you. Tj Watt's what 28? He's 31. Oh fuck, tj Watt's old, but TJ Watt got paid two years ago.
Speaker 2He's looking for a contract currently actually, which is why I was talking about potentially trading him after Miles Garrett got his money. It's a weird spot, but again, tj Watt is at a spot where this might be his last big contract. So I understand him looking for his money. But I question whether it'd be a smart idea to really give him that type of money that he's looking for when you could potentially trade him and get get other pieces, kind of help you out longterm. But again, he's TJ watt, heartbeat of the team. It's not going to happen and I don't even know if I truly believe that that's the right decision to make, honestly. But you know, it was a thought that entered my brain about it when I saw that happen.
NFL: Tush Push and Contracts Drama
Speaker 2But you know it is what it is, um, but Hendrickson, I just think they're trying to strong arm him. It just doesn't look great that they're trying to make him do that. When they signed T and signed Chase, everybody kind of sang Kuba like oh, that's such a great idea. But I'm like Joe Burrow mentioned Hendrickson as well. It wasn't just those two. But I think, in the grand scheme of things, if Joe Burrow had to choose, I think he made his choice. I think those two wide receivers are what he'd rather keep, because those are the guys that, like, are going to help him on the offensive side of the ball more. So, I don't know. I I think ultimately he'll come back and play for the Bengals. I don't think he'll be happy about it and I'm not sure, I'm not sure how this is all going to be like like interpersonal relationships. But I think the Bengles are just kind of playing this very shrewd operator style and I just think it may not end well when they're like between him and the team long term. But for right now I just feel like they're just taking a bet that he'll end up coming out to play because he doesn't want to get fined like lose a bunch of money. I don't know, it's a weird spot, but uh, the bangles are just making their bets that he'll end up taking less at some point. But again, if he does that you want. I hate to say this, but it's a Mike Tomlin-ism. We want volunteers, not hostages, and it kind of feels like Henderson's getting put into a hostage spot here to where he's not getting what he wants, being paid money-wise, wise, and he's being forced to play there because they won't trade him anywhere else. I don't know, it's just is that a good spot to put your team in? If you're going to have a player that doesn't isn't all willing, isn't fully willing to be with the team, doesn't isn't all in, you're just creating a bad, a bad tone for the locker room. Again, it's Joe Burrow's locker room, so does it matter? Who knows? But it's just, he's the one guy on the defensive side of the ball that you can depend on. I don't know. Weird spot Tush push.
Speaker 2So they tried to make a vote to ban the tush push and apparently they have to get 24 votes in order to ban something. In the NFL it's currently 16-16 down the middle and they push the vote until May. So and apparently the Packers, the Rams and I think the Niners are the three teams that are like heading the idea they want to. No sorry, the Packers, the Rams and the Bills are the three teams that are like really pushing to ban the tush-bush. I think they're just petty. I don't think they like that.
Speaker 2The team at the top of the mountain right now is the team that has the unstoppable play that nobody else can play. Heck the Bills. They tried to have their own touch post. They were like the second most. They had the second most effective quarterback sneak in all the NFL and theirs failed against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Was it the AFC Championship game? It was right, yes.
Speaker 2So, with that being the case, I think it just comes off as being very petty.
Speaker 2They're claiming that it's not a football play and that I just think it comes off as being very, uh, petty, because there's one thing that that this one team is good at.
Speaker 2So the idea that you're saying it's a injury thing no, nobody from the eagles has really gotten injured because of this and there's only one team that's very good at it and it's just the e.
Speaker 2So I just think I don't know why you would sit here and try to do that when it's only one team, and as soon as the Eagles don't really have the offensive line to do that anymore, it's going to go back down and it may turn out to be another team that ends up being good at it.
Speaker 2But it's just they like trying to change it a little bit because they're not gonna outlaw the quarterback sneak, they're trying to outlaw that specific play and I'm just like this is all they're doing way too much work to try to stop this one team from being able to do a play that they're very good at when any other team can try to do it.
Speaker 2It's just nobody else is good at putting together an offensive line that can really make it happen and be able to coach it right to be able to make this play work. But it's just it comes off as very petty and I hope it ends up failing. But apparently it's 16-16 on the middle. There are some teams that are very for it and the rest of the team. There's a good amount of teams that are like we don't care, so why would we try to ruin the Eagles from being able to do it if they're good at it? I think they're going to try to use these next couple months to try to lobby and try to get teams to vote on their side for it. I don't know, it just comes off as very petty and not very competition-friendly.
Speaker 1It's like oh, we just want to get rid of it because we can't do it. Very kid-like behavior. If you spam a play in Madden too many times, they won't let you use the play again. So if they spam the play every fourth down.
Speaker 2Are you saying you're in favor of getting rid of it?
Speaker 1Hey, we're going to run this play. There's nothing you can do about it. You can't stop it. You can't jump at us. There's nothing you can do about it. You can't stop it, you can't jump at us. There's nothing you can do. Yes, it's a pussy, ass fucking play.
Speaker 2I didn't think you'd sit on the side of that. I'm not gonna lie to you.
Speaker 1Dylan Hurts will never be a fucking MVP because that motherfucker's a stat stuffer. You have way more touchdowns than you're supposed to.
Speaker 2Way more rushing touchdowns, yes.
Speaker 1You have way more touchdowns. You're not that good I don't.
Speaker 2Okay, I can see why you'd say that, but I'm just like, Get good at it. If you want to be good at it, just go ahead and try to do what the Eagles do, and they just can't. I don't. And again, they're not doing it every. It got to a point that they were able to do it every single play. But I don't think you can necessarily do that in an NFL game, because it really does put a lot of stress on the bodies of the offensive line you're playing and it also puts your quarterback at risk. Heck, think about it why the Chiefs never run a quarterback sneak? Because they tried to do it one time and Mahomes got injured and they haven't ran the play since. So it does put a lot of pressure on your offensive line and quarterback to be able to stay healthy through a play like that. So I don't think it'll ever get to the point where they're running it every play but on a goal line and on a fourth down, stop from getting to fourth and one, or third and one, and you won't have to worry about it. That's the way the defense can stop it, but they can't. And now they're getting all butthurt about it.
Speaker 2I just I don't know. To have the excuse that it's an injury discussion or it's not a football play is stupid to me. Just say what you really like. Everybody knows what's really going down. It's just jealous, and they can't make it happen themselves. That's the way I think of it, at least. How'd you feel about Puka Nukula saying he wants to retire by 30? Cool, I feel like that's something you don't want to say out loud.
Speaker 1No, do you Cool?
Speaker 2I'm saying money-wise. If the Rams think about him as like oh, you want to retire by 30, if you're already thinking about retirement at 22 years old, are you as invested as another player that we can draft and come in and say he wants to play for the next 10 to?
Speaker 112 years. Why are we downing him for wanting to be reasonable?
Speaker 2I'm not downing him.
Speaker 1I'm not downing him this topic's stupid.
Speaker 2Okay, fine, I'm saying teams, look, for many reasons I don't care.
Speaker 1I hated when people said this because I was like that's dumb. He many reasons, I don't care. I hated when people said this because I was like that's dumb dude wants to protect his body. He wants to be able to function by 30.
Speaker 2He doesn't want to be tua um.
Speaker 1I told no, I agree no I agree he said that and I was like cool, fair enough.
Speaker 2I said the same thing, but I do get the idea that teams use that as leverage against players. They're like oh, you want to retire by 30 anyway, so we're not going to give you the money that you should probably deserve okay, then you have a motherfucker that should have retired at 30, like aaron rogers.
Speaker 1So what do we do?
Speaker 2it. You said you had. So you had an aaron rogers take no I had a stealer's take. Okay, go for it the stealers.
Speaker 1So everybody was. I was solid. It was third on twitter and they're like oh, stealers mishandled the ben situation. My brain goes did they?
Speaker 1yeah and I was looking at it and I was like, no, they didn't. I was like, going into 2022, you had Mitchell Trubisky, mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett. It was supposed to be Mitchell Trubisky, mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins. Dwayne Haskins was Ben's backup in 2021. Dwayne Haskins was supposed to be your starter the next year. Kenny Pickett was a. We have to draft a quarterback because Dwayne Haskins was gone. I don't think the situation was mishandled. I think something tragic happened which forced it to be mishandled. I think Dwayne Haskins was the guy.
Speaker 1Maybe, and I think the Steelers believed he was the guy and that's why because he had beat Mason Rudolph for the backup In that offseason when you guys acquired him, he had beaten Mason Rudolph to become he was Ben's backup.
Speaker 2He had the prospects to be the guy be the next backup.
Speaker 1He beat Rudolph. He was Ben's backup.
Speaker 2He was the next guy. He wasn't there yet. Yes, he was, no, that 2021 season.
Speaker 1You guys had acquired him, oh yeah, and he beat Rudolph. We were only like two weeks into practice and he beat Rudolph.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1He was. I think Dwayne Haskins was you guys playing for the future. I think he was probably, let's be honest, he had one year in college and he was that. He was probably, let's be honest, he had one year in college and he was that. He was fucking legit 38 touchdowns in like five INTs In like 5,000 yards. So I think Haskins was supposed to be your next quarterback and I think the tragedy of what happened to him is what caused the Steelers to go to a downward spiral in the quarterback room, because I think the team was gearing around him and then a tragedy happened in the offseason.
Speaker 2I think they'd already drafted Pickett when that happened. No, he died just before the draft.
Speaker 1Just before the draft. Like I said, it was a panic pick.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I think you guys panicked. You're like we need a quarterback.
Speaker 2I think they were probably going to draft him anyway, because he was the hometown hero.
Speaker 1I think you guys panicked, maybe Because there was alignment at that spot.
Speaker 2I think the actual mishandling of the Ben situation was holding onto him for too long and not having a quarterback option before that.
Speaker 1I agree, but again, I truly do think going into 2021 too.
Speaker 2it was going to be doing Haskins because, going into that 2021 year they tried to. They cut his pay. They said, hey, they threw out a number like, hey, you're not going to take this to want to play here. Right, you're going to, you're willing to pay you, that you'll leave and we'll have, we'll get a quarterback one year earlier. And he's like no, I'll take the money and stay. So I feel like they just hold on for a tad bit too long and it just kind of like. I just feel like they went so long without drafting anybody to really do it outside of mason rudolph as a second round pick, and he and ben freaked out that he kept them from able to plan for any type of future quarterback situation outside of that. And that's the part where I think they've really messed up, and I think they've been messing up ever since they royally missed with Kenny Pickett. It's not like any other quarterback was really good that year anyway.
Speaker 1I agree, but again, I don't think you pick Kenny Pickett. You have Dwayne Haskins.
Speaker 2Yeah, but as much as I love Dwayne, there's no guarantee he would have worked either.
Speaker 1I agree, but I think the Steelers believed in him and I think he had. You saw his stats in college. You saw him throw even in Washington he could sling the football. I think he was meant to be the next quarterback in the Steelers' universe.
Speaker 2I think it was just a mental thing he needed to get over no-transcript.
Speaker 1They knew Mason Rudolph was not a fix and no one believed in Trubisky.
Speaker 2Can I ask this question Do you think it is the Steelers not being willing to swallow the pill Ever since Dwayne Haskins? I actually agree that's actually a decent point. That was a spot for them to potentially make a change and do it, and then he passed and that kind of ruined it. But ever since then they've been trying to throw a Band-Aid on this issue because they're still trying to be good while at the same time trying to get a quarterback to try to help them long-term which isn't necessarily how that goes and they never willing to be bad to potentially get that one pick right. Because I think the way the nfl is set up now, there is no picking up a quarterback at pick 15 16 anymore, unless a mahomes just drops into your hands.
Speaker 2Jaylen hurts the third round pick.
Speaker 2Second round pick he was like he's still I just think either the steelers need to be a lot better at identifying and coaching up quarterbacks or they have to be bad enough to go have that top five pick, to go get a guy. I just think it takes as much courage to be saying, hey, we're going to take a step back now in order to be steps better later. I don't know, I think it can go either way, but it's just a very weird scenario that I just think that they're going to have to swallow that pill at some point and go for a young guy again. But the idea that they missed so hard on Kenny Pickett really did set them back years and years. That's really all I got on that. We have like 20 something days until the draft and heck.
