From Ohio State vs Texas to Micah Parsons Trade to Packers: A Football Takeover
Football season has officially arrived, and we're diving headfirst into all the action as college kickoff weekend coincides with major NFL news that's reshaping the league landscape.
The college football world is taking full advantage of Labor Day weekend with games spanning Thursday through Monday. We break down Thursday night's results, including South Florida's stunning upset of Boise State and Nebraska's narrow escape against Cincinnati. Looking ahead to Saturday's marquee matchups, we analyze the heavyweight showdown between Ohio State and Texas, dissecting everything from quarterback questions to defensive strengths, and why this game could immediately impact the playoff picture.
But the football world was completely shaken by the blockbuster trade sending Micah Parsons from Dallas to Green Bay. We examine this monumental move from every angle – the Packers giving up two first-round picks, Parsons signing a record-shattering $186 million contract, and how Jerry Jones' refusal to negotiate with Parsons' agent led to this stunning outcome. Does this make Green Bay immediate Super Bowl contenders, or did they mortgage their future for a player with significant limitations?
We also cover other significant NFL contract news, including Trey Hendrickson's return to Cincinnati, Terry McLaurin's new deal with Washington, and Kyle Hamilton becoming the highest-paid safety in league history. As the NFL season kickoff approaches next Thursday, we're gearing up for weekly football coverage with insights you won't find anywhere else.
Get ready for our most comprehensive football coverage yet – starting next week, we'll be moving to twice-weekly episodes to keep you updated on all the college and NFL action throughout the season!
welcome back to this podcast.
Speaker 2:Today's friday, august 29th, we're back for another podcast we're back, baby, we're back, and we're not only just us, we're not the only ones that are here. Football is officially back, not the bullshit that was last weekend where it was farm again. The farm again game was good in the fourth quarter, but that was the only game anybody really cared about. No, no, no, no, no, no, we're not there anymore. We are officially going into labor day weekend. Um, obviously, as a recording, we're doing this on friday, but there were games last night, there are games tonight, there are games tomorrow, there are games Sunday and there's a game on, there's a few games on Monday too.
Speaker 2:College football has taken advantage of a little bit of a vacuum that the NFL has created, because they have that little like two week window where they don't, the one weekend right before they have their season start. So, like you know what college football says, like labor day weekend, we're just gonna own it, we're gonna own the whole thing. We're gonna have games going on every single day, and this this weekend is probably gonna be a little more special than most, because we have three top 10 matchups that are gonna happen this weekend between saturday, sunday and monday. What is it? Or is it saturday and sunday? Just saturday and sunday, not mond Monday, and then we're going to have a whole bunch of other matchups that are going to be a lot of fun to watch and I am so fucking excited For all of it. Obviously, my team is one of those big matchups, so obviously it's kind of like Adding to my excitement for this whole thing.
Speaker 1:B-dubs is ass.
Speaker 2:Just in case everybody wondered I was in a flow state I see, so B-dubs is ass. Just in case everybody wondered. Sorry, I was in a flow state.
Speaker 1:My bad, I was in a flow state. I see so many B-dubs ads during college football and NFL football.
Speaker 2:I hate B-dubs.
Speaker 1:I just never know. B-dubs taste like shit. Yeah, it's slime. Their wings are trash, their burgers are trash. Their fries are ass. They're a worst steak and shake fry. How you can get a worst steak and shake fry Crazy.
Speaker 2:Is worst fry. I think the worst fry I've ever had is the burger place I'm not even figuring the name of it. It's fucking Dairy Queen, dairy Queen fries, the one you think would be the worst. I was thinking of what is the one? Not it's. It's the one burger place near south that everybody would go to Smash Burger. Smash Burger, those fries.
Speaker 1:They're the paper thin fries with this gross garlic aioli on top of it. Those are bad.
Speaker 2:I hate the shoestrings more than anything, but they found a way to make it worse.
Speaker 1:Shoestring fries are great for chili cheese fries. If you like chili cheese fries, they're great for that. Because they're thin, you can use a fork.
Speaker 2:Right, yeah.
Speaker 1:Like thicker fries. Don't work with that.
Speaker 2:For sure it feels like too much at that point it does.
Speaker 1:But again, two-string fries are like they're basically chips.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the potato sticks. That's exactly what they are.
Speaker 1:I'm not trying to eat a freaking, you know. They kind of have the same texture of as like the veggie straws, but, dude, they're potato sticks. But the same shit, the veggie straws taste better.
Speaker 2:They do taste better, but they all taste like potato, true? Yeah, no doubt, yeah, yeah they're good.
Speaker 1:No, you're sorry, I I did not mean to start this.
Speaker 2:I just really fucking hate buffalo wild this is what happens when jace is watching his game and the next thing you know, buffalo Wild Wings add pops.
Speaker 1:My bad, the people at my job on Tuesdays they always go out and do stuff, but they always go to Buffalo Wild Wings and I'm like I don't know.
Speaker 2:No, thanks, no, I would never.
Speaker 1:No, I just wouldn't. I already really don't want to drink because it's a fucking Tuesday. I don't know how we're going to work tomorrow. What the fuck are we doing? Hey, people find that.
Speaker 2:That's the way they get through life, man. They just go ahead and say, hey, I'm going to go ahead and get plastered on Tuesday and hope I can be back for Wednesday.
Speaker 1:No, I'm going to go home and forget this shit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, no doubt my bad, I just really fucking hate Buffalo Wild Wings.
Speaker 1:Hey, I agree one of those things I know so many people that shame me for it. I'm like no, buffalo Wild Wings is hot dog ass.
Speaker 2:It is trash. I don't want that shit. It's slime.
Speaker 1:I got it once and I was like, yeah, this is gross. The only thing Smashburger does have is some fire ass milkshakes oh.
Speaker 2:I don't like their burgers. All their burgers are trash.
Speaker 1:Power to you. I was trying to get one over on you Because I was like fuck five guys and I was eating. I was like man, spice makes me better. Best one was better. I was one bite in. I tried a second bite.
Speaker 2:I was like it's awful, it just sucks. Don't want this shit, no more.
Speaker 1:But that milkshake, that milkshake, but again.
Speaker 2:It's starting to feel like Milkshakes are not as hard as what we may think they are. Milkshakes are good no, they're good, but the idea of having a great milkshake isn't necessarily a novel idea.
Speaker 1:I don't know.
Speaker 2:Use real milk. Use some decent ingredients when it comes to using the flavors and you can have a decent milkshake.
Speaker 1:Use good quality ice cream. It's so important. If you use poor quality ice cream it does make a bad milkshake. No for sure you have to be above a certain level, but like, as long as it ain't trash. Five Guys uses. They use Blue Bunny on my yachts. I work next to a Five Guys so I get a lot of milkshakes. They be getting them shit for us for free.
Speaker 2:Oh, there you go.
Speaker 1:I'll be discounted Okay that's fine. There was one time They'd be getting them shits for us for free. Oh, there you go, and I'd be discounting it. Okay, that's fine. One time they were like you want something to eat?
Speaker 2:I was like no, give me a milkshake. This guy, this guy, his hate of five guys is unmatched.
Speaker 1:I've tried it multiple times recently. Fries are good, though Put some malt vinegar on them, bitches.
Speaker 2:But yeah, back to the college. A lot of games happening. I just have a couple games to react to from yesterday and then we'll kind of get into what Jason's thoughts are on his game. That's going on. So far, I think they're still in the first quarter. No, it's good, that's what this podcast is for. We have our like what is it? Alleyways, we go down.
Speaker 1:Tangents.
Speaker 2:Tangents, that's probably the better word I was looking for. So I'm not sure if you watched these two games last night. One of them was a straight up blowout. The other one was actually pretty close until the very end. I'll start with the blowout.
Speaker 2:Last night Boise State played up against what was it? South Florida? They went to South Florida because Boise State coming off of last year, they made a playoff appearance. They had Ashton Gentry who was a Heisman candidate. Everything just kind of went their way last year and like, going into this year, a lot of people including myself, where I did my my, what I think my playoff rankings would be by the end of the year. I had Boise State in the playoff as the group of five team because honestly, looking at it, hey, it's Boise State and really they're like the best group of five team you can think of out there, most consistent. Yeah, they don't have Ashton Gentry anymore, but in general they should just be a better team than most of the teams they're going to face on their schedule.
Speaker 2:But going into last night a lot of people were like, oh, south Florida can really do something. And I'm like, yeah, I didn't really believe it, but going into it last night it was very close. In the first half it was like 10-7, south Florida had the lead and then in the second half South Florida broke this whole thing open by going for a fake punt that led to like a 40-yard pass down the field that ended in a touchdown. That really broke the whole thing open. And then, obviously, being in South Florida, one of the things is that this time of year if you're a team that is of the Midwest or up north, you're not going to be able to deal with the humidity and the heat that the South has at this time of year when it's still getting hotter, when the rest of the country it's still getting a little cooler at this point, which was definitely a thing, because in the second half Boise state was really breaking down.
Speaker 2:They were tired, they really can handle it, and it just made South Florida look better and better on the field. It's. It just looked like Boise was going in slow motion while South Florida was still playing at their, at their regular pace. So, especially in that second half, after they blew the doors off the game with that, um, that fake punt that turned into a touchdown pass, it was a. They just kept rolling man and they won the game 34-7. The fake punt, by the way, they didn't do it with a punter. They had their freshman quarterback out there just in the punter spot and he managed. Nobody noticed.
Speaker 1:I guess everybody would be like, yeah, I don't know who that is, anyway, nobody would know which makes total sense.
Speaker 2:I don't think you'd ever be able to pull that off, ever again.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because if you're an actual quarterback, go out there. You're like, yeah, everybody knows, hey, that's a QB. Did you have a freshman go out there? Yeah, no one's ever seen him.
Speaker 2:Perfect idea. Yeah, that was their quarterback, because he's probably a dude.
Speaker 1:He's not their backup, is he?
Speaker 2:No, he's a freshman. Oh, that's my first time seeing redshirted. Yeah.
Speaker 1:He's not even on a scouting report type beat, so like he's just that was a great-ass play.
Speaker 2:That boy made his only play of the year. Beautiful pass and everything Turn. He made his only play Again. It probably won't work again, but again you got it off, probably against a team on their schedule. That's probably the best team they're going to face all year.
Speaker 1:So South Florida made their statement and they had a very good game. This Big Ten graphic gets bigger and bigger every year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they keep adding teams bro.
Speaker 1:Real quick. I remember a point where Purdue wasn't showing up on this bitch. Is that weird. Is that weird that I remember a point where Purdue was not showing up?
Speaker 2:They always showed up, they were always there, but they're very forgettable on the field and off the field. It's Purdue.
Speaker 1:I remember it was probably like 2014. They were going over. I was like I don't know what the fuck that is.
Speaker 2:Do you know where Purdue?
Speaker 1:is Near Indiana.
Speaker 2:They're in Indiana. They're in Indiana with Indiana and Notre Dame.
Speaker 1:I'm not going to cap with you. I'm confusing Purdue and Vanderbilt.
Speaker 2:Oh, vandy's in Tennessee. Yeah yeah, purdue's in Indiana, with Indiana and Notre Dame Is Vanderbilt good at other things besides baseball.
Speaker 1:Is who Vanderbilt? They're really good at baseball.
Speaker 2:Baseball. They're really good at baseball. They're really good at that's where they have most of it um I'm probably get. They're probably good at, like you know, the wider sports like swimming. They're probably great at lacrosse or lacrosse.
Speaker 2:They're probably really good at those sports, but like I guess they're better at football. They beat alabama last year a little more. Uh, you know what's funny is that that coming into the offseason, their quarterback, um diego pavia the guy I told you that's been playing like seven years of football he came in he did like a podcast with like busting the boys that I saw, I saw a clip of and he said like oh, we have national title hopes coming into the year and they couldn't help. But like, almost laughing, like dude, you're not being serious. He's like, yeah, I'll be totally serious. I'm like no, you're not, no, but like he's like, yeah, I'll be totally serious. I'm like no, you're not, no, but like the day that Vanderbilt has a chance to even get to the playoff, let alone win a national title.
Speaker 1:I'll fucking kill myself. Fucking hell would freeze over.
Speaker 2:Hell would freeze over if that happened. I'm being totally honest Hell would freeze over.
Speaker 1:The only clip I can remember of Vanderbilt was one dude saying going to do, saying Alabama, you're next. And uh, it was Jalen Hurts being like, yeah, on their on the schedule, we are next, it's just. And then went out there lost by 50.
Speaker 2:Yeah that's what they do most years and again they're having a little bit of a resurgence. Right now they're doing like coming off of last year. They have a little bit of a pop, but like I think their win, their win total, is still like five games like, so it's not like they're turning themselves to a superpower.
Speaker 1:That's the same as Michigan State, though Real quick. On a level of who they are in the SEC and who Michigan State is, we're not far.
Speaker 2:I would say you're better.
Speaker 1:We're a middle-of-the-road team.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're like Nebraska.
Speaker 1:People have Nebraska making the playoff.
Speaker 2:People are smoking crack and they're probably from nebraska. I don't think so, but speaking of nebraska, literally like perfect segue, that was the other game that happened last night that I watched every single second of okay, I I sorry delareola, who's he playing?
Speaker 1:All right real quick. He went there because why?
Speaker 2:His uncle is the offensive line coach there. He started off committed to Ohio State and Ohio State wanted to pick up a quarterback in the year before he was supposed to get there and his family wasn't happy with that. So he switched his commitment to Georgia and then he's like, oh, I don't want to go there. So he ended up going to Nebraska getting a ton of money and yeah, that's why he's there and this cop right.
Speaker 2:Copies him like crazy. He like. He said he wanted he was on it. He was on a different podcast. You know they have a podcast for their players. And he said on that podcast don't blame God for making me look like him, but the thing is you have the same haircut as the guy you do god for making me look like him, but the thing is you have the same haircut as the guy you do the same sunglasses guy. You have the same mannerisms. You know what? How? When mahomes is getting this drive started, what does he always do?
Speaker 2:I don't know the little the finger twinkle thing where like he's, like like that, he's doing that, like he does the exact same mannerisms, all of it I remember the year we were going there and they call it burrowhead.
Speaker 2:Somebody called that he's a funnel of the balls yeah, like riela does that too, but it's like, it's like, don't lie, I get it, he's your idol, but like don't act stupid. Speaking of the homes, they. That game was actually a neutral site game. Cinc, cincinnati was supposed to be the home team. Do you know where the game happened? In Arrowhead, in front of all Nebraska fans, because Kansas City, missouri, is right there where Nebraska is. So Cincinnati wore their away uniforms. We were like, oh, we're not playing at home, we're away. It was supposed to be a home game for Cincinnati. The whole thing started when they were negotiating it. They were supposed to be in Cincinnati and they changed it.
Speaker 1:Why.
Speaker 2:I don't know. They're stupid because they put themselves in a very bad spot because even with that game being as lopsided as it was to Nebraska, it was still a close game. The whole game it was back and forth Not necessarily back and forth. For the most part Nebraska was like they just didn't have, they just couldn't get anything going offensively consistently. They had a couple drives one right before halftime where they got a touchdown and then one at the end of the game.
Speaker 1:How can one thing make so many people miss but still be fucking slow? He did a spin move.
Speaker 2:He juked a dude out, but he's just Okay, that's not bad, he's just not fast. Hey, there's some people that are just like that, bro.
Speaker 1:There's a lot of players that can make a whole career out of that. My best friend's a HLSU fan and I'm going to go over to his house after this and piss on his door.
Speaker 2:Oh, me and Nick could be friends.
Speaker 1:Huh.
Speaker 2:Which friend?
Speaker 1:Me who.
Speaker 2:Which friend?
Speaker 1:You say Nick.
Speaker 2:No, I said we could be friends. Oh, tony, oh see, look, I knew it. I knew this was a round. I'm a Browns fan.
Speaker 1:Wait, but he has a poster of Denzel Ward.
Speaker 2:That's my boy. He's a Buckeye, it's all good.
Speaker 1:I was like do you have a poster of him? I stopped. I was like do you have a poster of him? Because he's a brown, because he's a Buckeye. He was like, if I had to be honest, more because he's a Buckeye than he's a brown.
Speaker 2:There you go. Sometimes it's all you need guy in your life. Um, I'm trying to get to that nebraska game so I could have the names right. Um, there we go. Nebraska won that game 20 to 17. The game was pretty close. It was set. It was like so cincinnati hat was down three. It's soccer. They were down three going into like the. They had like the final minute and a half. They got the ball back and was able to go all the way down. There you go, was able to go all the way down the field. They got it to the other side of the field. I think they were on like the 30 or something like that.
Speaker 2:And the quarterback for cincinnati who honestly, I think actually played a decent game, brennan sorsby. Um, but he went 13-25 for 69 yards in an interception. His wide receivers were not helping him out whatsoever. They could not catch a ball to save their lives. There were a ton of drops in this game.
Speaker 2:That same quarterback was also the leading rusher in this game. He had 13 carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns. He did a lot. He was the only reason the Bearcats were able to get anything done in this game. He had 13 carries, 96 yards and two touchdowns. Like he did a lot, like he was like the only reason the Bearcats were able to get anything done in this game. But even with all that not going their way, the fans were all against them. Nebraska fans, they show up like they're always going crazy and they were pretty much in hostile territory, even though it's supposed to be a home game and Cincinnati had a chance to win the game at the end. Like Dylan Mari, he threw the ball 42 times, went 33 of 42 for 243 and two touchdowns.
Speaker 2:The thing was is that here's my problem with that game and how it went for Riola, because we were kind of talking about like how it doesn't look right, like he's not really the guy that people would like him to be. I'm not saying physically he isn't, but I'm saying in his second year starting, it felt like watching that game, like they were still like handcuffing him a little bit. It was a lot of short passes. They weren't necessarily letting him like having a lot of like longer, um, longer developing plays for him to have to read a defense and make the right decision. There was a point where he was like going for a screen on the left side and he kind of threw a late and had pressure in his face. He almost threw a pick six. This DB straight up dropped the ball. All he, all he had to do was catch it and all he had was open grass trying to throw that screen and the DB didn't catch and he kind of like. It was like that was a big difference in the way that game went, because that would have been seven points going Cincinnati's way and they would have had the lead at that point.
Speaker 2:But for the people that had to like are potentially having Nebraska as a playoff team, it's mostly because of their schedule. They're kind of saying Nebraska could be the Indiana of this year. Now, indiana didn't play anybody throughout their schedule except for Ohio State and they turned out to be 10-2. It's like, oh, we have to let them in even though they really didn't play anybody throughout the year. Everybody's claiming Nebraska could be that because Nebraska doesn't play Ohio State. No, sorry, sorry, they do play Ohio State, they don't play. They don't play Penn State, they don't play Oregon, they don't play USC, they don't play any of like really the big boys other than Ohio State. So I don't know, I didn't believe Nebraska whatsoever because I don't. I'm not a big fan of Dylan Riola. I'm not saying he can't necessarily be that guy, but I just haven't seen it as of yet and coming off of last night I just I'm not convinced as of yet and I don't even think his coaching staff is, because I just don't think they really gave him all the control in his second year. You would think you'd give a player that's been there as long as he has, so I don't know.
Speaker 2:Cincinnati in the I was talking about the end of that game Cincinnati going like they on the 30 yard line.
Speaker 2:All they had to do was keep making plays. They're running the football well, kind of having the short passing game going, and they try to go for like a kill shot for the touchdown and he under threw it. The wide receiver didn't actually try to play defense at all and the safety was able to come right over and pick the ball off and it was just like one of those sad things where I'm like oh, oh, it was exciting. For a second You'd think they were just trying to get the dagger, but it was just a very badly thrown ball. But if they could have just played better ball they could have tried to get more yards down the field, at least hit the field goal to make it go to overtime or something. But they tried to go for the kill shot. It didn't work, but it was a very fun game to watch. Doesn um does make me question nebraska a little bit, because I'm just like it should not have been this hard against cincinnati, but it was what it is, it was what it was all right.
Speaker 1:So those are the games that are that were happening yesterday so many white people at michigan state. Yeah, what is michigan state like what do they do? What is it was like what do they produce as a school? I don't know, michigan produced a lot of fucking lawyers. Uh, osu produces a lot of fucking lawyers. Osu produces a lot of fucking doctors. Yeah, what the fuck does Michigan State do?
Speaker 2:no clue.
Speaker 1:They have a really good tech program. I feel like that's what it is, maybe.
Speaker 2:I did get an offer to go there for in college too, but that wasn't what was happening. Bitch ass. But the games that are happening did. Yeah, I got mail from them, yeah.
Speaker 1:Again, they all want your money because again you have to pay. I would have loved you so much more. You have to pay to apply.
Speaker 2:I wouldn't have done that I would have loved you so much more. I would have done that. I would have loved you so much more. Nah, but the games that are happening oh especially you graduated.
Speaker 1:If you well, yeah, how's that feel? Go down nigga. I would have never done it, that wasn't gonna happen you got mail from michigan state?
Speaker 2:yeah, I could. I'd give me that letter, bro. No, um, but the games that are happening today obviously jace's game, michigan state, they're up 13 to nothing 14 nothing like 1080p right now hey, it's better than that. Better not watching at all. Right, they're up 14-0. Their offense is actually looking pretty decent from what I've seen.
Speaker 1:It looks alright. It still looks like this nigga can't have brought us out of a barn.
Speaker 2:Again, it doesn't. He's sailing them bitches, yes, but he's not making terrible decisions as of yet.
Speaker 1:I guess. So he is not an NFL quarterback though.
Speaker 2:Not as so hopefully he'll be. He'll get better Young guy. With any luck he'll be at your school for four years and think about what he'll be by the fourth year than what he is right now.
Speaker 1:Like that you could have Mid he'll be mid by the fourth year. Right now he's still ass.
Speaker 2:We'll see, we're still playing Western Michigan.
Speaker 1:You're not wrong Once we get to an Indiana, a Nebraska, a fucking Maryland. Those are the teams that we're probably real close to.
Speaker 2:That's when the question, that's when you have to produce and that's where I have to see hey, are you ass?
Speaker 1:We'll see. We'll definitely see Again. Western Michigan, don't prove shit. You couldn't beat Boston College last year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but if they would just like take care of Western Michigan, it'll make me feel a little more confident. Treat them like they're Western Michigan. I think that's like a very cool thing that they could do to kind of like make you at least have a say. They're taking the first step.
Speaker 1:No, no, no we.
Speaker 2:Take care of the riffraff.
Speaker 1:We have a sack. They look fine, but again it's Western Michigan. Yeah, for sure you got it If you do anything else, it's bad. Yeah, if you don't beat them by at least three touchdowns. What are we doing?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I agree, Other games that are happening tonight you got.
Speaker 1:This is the kind of game that's close for a quarter.
Speaker 2:It's not close right now. It's 14-0.
Speaker 1:I know, but even when I watch Ohio State, typically when they play teams like this it close. Right now it's 14-0.
Speaker 1:I know, but like even when I watch Ohio State, typically when they play teams like this, it's close for a quarter and then Ohio State is beating the fuck out of you by the end of the second quarter and then going to the next half. The same fucking quarterback ain't even in the game, no more. Another nigga is playing out there, none of your starters are out there, no more, and you're still putting up points. That's the type of shit I want to be on with Western Michigan right now.
Speaker 2:I think you're well on your way, but unfortunately I cannot confidently say we're leagues above the MAAC teams.
Speaker 1:I think you are and I think you'll prove that today at least to yourself. No, no, we ain't leagues above the fucking Sunbelt teams.
Speaker 2:Other games happening Illinois playing Western Illinois.
Speaker 1:Coastal Carolina will smack the fuck out of us?
Speaker 2:I don't think. So Stop, they don't have the size, I don't think, to face off against you guys. Coastal Carolina puts more niggas in the NFL than we do.
Speaker 1:That's more skill position they're not doing anything when it comes to the line of scrimmages and Michigan State is yeah. Be better. If they have better skill positions than us, they are better than us.
Speaker 2:Not a lot, but I'm saying if you're better at line of scrimmage than another team, you're going to have a much better time With the running back.
Speaker 1:We have. It won't fucking matter, this nigga's going nowhere.
Speaker 2:He's not getting taken down, he's running in sand. Yeah, maybe you got another big game. That's happening tonight Auburn-Baylor. Those two teams are playing tonight at 8 pm, literally in the next five minutes. That's going to be a very good game. A lot of points are going to be scored, I think, in that one. And then you also got Georgia Tech-Colorado. You have Deion without Shador, without Shiloh. That nigga got cut, he did, and also without Travis.
Speaker 2:This this is gonna be his first year without them. Is he gonna be able to kind of keep that whole program going without those three guys at the helm? That is gonna be a question yet to be seen. And going against georgia tech team that a lot of people have like they could potentially reach the acc title game and, based off what they were last year, they're a very good team that can run the football. Um, their defense is gonna be a little bit of a question mark in comparison what they were last year. They're a very good team, they can run the football. Their defense is going to be a little bit of a question mark in comparison to what they were last year, but I think Georgia Tech should be able to win that game.
Speaker 1:I think LSU is going to be national champion. No I don't watch football.
Speaker 2:Brian Kelly sucks. I'll never believe Brian Kelly can win a national title.
Speaker 1:He doesn't have a national title.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 1:Who the fuck is Brian.
Speaker 2:Kelly. He coached at Notre Dame for a long time and then switched to LSU.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I know, brian Kelly. When did he switch to LSU?
Speaker 2:I think he's in his third year now. Fourth year? No, fourth year, because he had two years at Jane Daniels. He's in his third or fourth year. Who's the quarterback that you want? Oh, the coach, ed Orgeron.
Speaker 1:A complete idiot. Was he the one that talked about it?
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, yeah, he's not coaching anymore.
Speaker 1:They fired him after that year, didn't they?
Speaker 2:Not after that year. It was a couple years after, but he was messed.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was. If he's in his fourth year, it couldn't have been.
Speaker 2:It was the year after. Joe Burrow's been in the NFL for like six years. He's been in the NFL five years. Nope, joe Burrow's been in the NFL for six years. He's going in his sixth year.
Speaker 1:Statistically, what I'm saying is still fucking correct.
Speaker 2:Okay, but I'm saying two years after Joe Burrow left. He got fired Because he was fucking around. Not only was he not a good enough coach to kind of keep the team going, but he was fucking around with his assistants, it's college football.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but it got real messy, like you keep messing around with people, with people you work, with their wives. No, it wasn't his assistant, it was somebody's wife. That was. Oh, it was one of the like the head, like some people higher than him. He was about their wife. Yeah, you can't keep fucking around like that. That's like you're playing with fire.
Speaker 1:I'm not, I'm not talking to you, I'm not talking to you Go Tigers.
Speaker 2:Literally you'd say that every time I have to talk.
Speaker 1:If that ain't the Louisiana accent to other people, that's how it sounds.
Speaker 2:That is how it sounds. It's so bad. Especially him because his voice is so bad, but Especially him because his voice is so bad, but yeah, it's an absolute travesty.
Speaker 1:They're calling Nick Morris right now on screen. Calvin Johnson 2.0.
Speaker 2:No, that's crazy, that is crazy, that's crazy. You can't do that.
Speaker 1:Nick Morris is 6'4".
Speaker 2:Yeah, this thing is huge.
Speaker 1:first off, he is 204 pounds.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he's a big boy, Big boy. But Calvin, I think, is a little bit of a stretch there, don't you think?
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, no yeah. I just want to make sure I heard you say it I thought it was Jeremiah Smith for a second, because that makes more sense.
Speaker 2:Yeah, jeremiah, like there's other guys you could potentially pick to do that, but size, weight and speed makes sense If they're comparing him like that that makes a lot of sense.
Speaker 1:But the numbers Calvin Jones was putting up at Georgia Tech was like and that was a team that was running the wing tee offense.
Speaker 2:They weren't trying to throw the football like that, and he was still that dude. That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:The numbers he was putting up at Georgia Tech. Mind you, this nigga was at Georgia Tech, yeah, and he didn't transfer, because it was at the point where were running. Yes, and again he had guards like Nick Marsh and him had similar yards, but again he was in a wing. A fucking triple option offense.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they don't throw the ball.
Speaker 1:They didn't throw it all and he still ended up 1100 yards and going into the NFL, they're like, yeah, if you can do good in that system, you can do good in any system, exactly. Never mind I'm going to go on a tangent to continue.
Speaker 2:All right, that's all the games that are today and yesterday. So let me just go ahead and get to the games that are going to be over the weekend. Give a preview, say who's going to win all of that stuff.
Speaker 1:One of those two games are on.
Speaker 2:I love working Saturdays. You know what, Since you're going to say that, may as well start with it, because again it's at high noon tomorrow biggest game on. It is the biggest game. I don't think it's the first time that you've had a number one or number two teams facing off against each other. And again, it's depending on the poll. Ap poll has ohio state third, coaches poll has them second.
Speaker 1:I believe the coaches pull a little bit more but you know, if y'all lose you're gonna drop 15 spots no, we're not, no, we're not this is just how you guys are treated. If you lose, y'all are going to drop to like fifth.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we're going to take a drop, but if Texas loses, they're just going to drop to second. Yeah, most likely. Yeah, there are two really good teams. They face each other. Oh, one team lost, it's okay.
Speaker 1:I know, but, like I'm sorry, you guys are treated very harshly. Yeah, is Texas an SEC team? Yeah, and it's because you guys aren't an SEC team. Yeah, that is why you guys are treated so harshly.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:If you guys, if you guys play well in a game you were supposed to win Yep, everybody says, well, that's what you're supposed to do.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:If an SEC team doesn't play well in a game, they still win.
Speaker 2:Oh, it was a hard fought game. That's SEC football.
Speaker 1:That's how they win a game, yeah.
Speaker 2:Every team has a bunch of NFL talent in the SEC. I'm like nah, that's not necessarily the case. You have a few teams that have most of it, and then you have the other teams that have some gems.
Speaker 1:But they're not they're too far between Right, yeah, sorry, sorry. I just hate SEC fans. They're fucking annoying.
Speaker 2:Oh, you're telling me.
Speaker 1:I would listen to Bo Nix talk about how he was playing at Auburn you know what's funny?
Speaker 2:He was an Auburn legacy. His dad played quarterback at Auburn.
Speaker 1:He was like I love playing at Auburn. He was like the pressure I had. This nigga holds him to football for 55 years. He just got sacked twice in a row. And he was like the pressure I had from these grown adults trying to get a cash app from me to get their bets back. He was like I was 19.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:He was like why is there that much pressure in the SEC?
Speaker 2:It's not the only place where there's pressure.
Speaker 1:True, but he was like there's no reason for it. He was like I'm 19. Heck when.
Speaker 2:CJ was playing, they were sending him payments with messages. He was like I'm 19. Heck, when CJ was playing, they were sending him payments with messages. They were like oh, we're giving you money, but we want to get our rocks off while doing it. We're going to tell you how much we think you suck.
Speaker 1:So there's other places where they have that pressure too. If they were to tell me how much I suck and pay me for it, I would send out my number. Keep it flowing. Just don't make them public. That's cool, watch me prove you wrong, like that's the type shit don't. But but again bo nicks talked about. He was like playing the ncc, he was like it was awful no, it is.
Speaker 1:It was terrible and that's where would love me and then hate me. Yeah, and within a week he was like I could. I could still win the game and they'll still hate me the volatility he's like.
Speaker 2:I didn't win by enough. Is what what he told me?
Speaker 1:He's like but I moved to Oregon. I went to. He was like I transferred to Oregon. He was like it was so much better.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but I also think Oregon is a place as well where they have that type of pressure too, because they've built themselves up into being the program that they are.
Speaker 1:I did I think with him he was Mr Auburn.
Speaker 2:He wanted to be like Auburn was like a ready-made team for them to be great.
Speaker 1:The way he talked about it. He was like I was. He was like I was. My dad went to Auburn.
Speaker 2:He was the prodigal son. That sucked.
Speaker 1:He was like I was he didn't suck.
Speaker 2:No, I'm saying they saw him as sucking, as trash.
Speaker 1:Yeah, again they were going nine and four and again you guys are Auburn.
Speaker 2:You don't deserve to have expectations. 9-4 is a good year for them.
Speaker 1:Yeah, for sure. But they won a national championship. Get the fuck out of here.
Speaker 2:Yeah, sorry, I just you win one with Cam Newton. You feel like you deserve one. No, you just had one great year with Cam Newton, that's it. That's all you deserve.
Speaker 1:And that team was still trash with Cam Newton.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, the whole team was trash around him. That's why it was a defensive tackle and there was a running back that was an NFL guy for a few years, but he didn't have a long standing career.
Speaker 1:But again you had Cam Newton.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Cam Newton. He was at his peak Ohio State, Texas Ohio State is a one and a half point underdog now. Up until yesterday, Ohio State was actually a one and a half point favorite in this game. You know what happened.
Speaker 1:There was a rich dude that put a five hundred thousand dollar bet on texas and it switched the and it switched the favorite over to ohio state my boy just won a bunch of people a lot of money.
Speaker 2:So I made. So I made a bet for ohio state to win that game and the under, because I think the under over under is like 45, 45, 46 and a half and I'm like it's not gonna have that many points. So I think both defenses are actually very good, um, but I made another bet after that happened. I'm like I'm going to take them as an underdog now. Okay, I'll take that too. And I made another another bet, um, but Ohio state Texas playing each other.
Speaker 2:I get my rocks off about this. I think both of these, both of these teams, are like mirror images of each other. I think both of these teams have younger quarterbacks. Again, maybe Texas arch manning, because he's a manning, but there's been nothing that you have seen from arch manning up to this point that should make anybody believe that he is going to be the all-world talent. Everybody thinks he is the number one, the one number one heisman contender. They're saying he's gonna be the number one pick in the draft, but nobody has seen shit from him as of yet in his in college career Like three good games against three shitty teams.
Speaker 2:He started two games last year. Mississippi State and Louisiana Monroe was the two games he started last year and he played well and he played okay in those games and then he played a little spot duty here or there. He played against Georgia last year when they brought him in thinking he was going to fix their offense when they were getting blown out huh ul monroe.
Speaker 2:Yeah, um, they thought he was going to like fix something when they were getting blown out by georgia. He looked scared, like he didn't look, like he didn't belong in that game. So the idea texas coming into this game with like the much better quarterback is kind of like laughable to me. Obviously Obviously I get it Ohio State is coming with Julian Sane as the starting quarterback and he hasn't really done a lot either in college football. I totally understand that. But again, I think that's a push. I think there's two quarterbacks that haven't done a lot in college football as of yet. And then obviously I think Ohio State is the better team wide receiver wise. They have a better offensive line because they're bringing back like four out of five of their starters. And then I think, defensively, I think Ohio State has like obviously they have Caleb Downs, the best defensive player in college football. They have a really good secondary. They have a very good linebacker crew, I think Sonny Stiles and Arvel Reese those two I know you know about Sonny Stiles, but the guy over Arvel Reiss at number eight, he's an alien. He looks like Predator versus Alien. He looks like Predator, he looks like a monster. They're both the same size. So you have those type of guys that can run, that can get after everybody and close the gap very quickly.
Speaker 2:Obviously, our biggest question mark is going to be our defensive line, but we do have a lot of guys that have played plenty of football. We have a few defensive ends. It's probably going to be a little bit of a question mark, but again, we have guys that have been playing for Ohio State for three years. Not only are we throwing out freshmen out there to go play, we're having sophomores and juniors play. So do they need to prove something? Yeah for sure. But they're also playing against an offensive line in Texas that they're replacing their whole offensive line. I think their most veteran office line they're going to be starting in the game tomorrow has 90 snaps at Texas. So when I'm looking at this game and they have Arch, who isn't going to be protected as well, and then you have arch with a wide receiver core that's going to be very young, they're going to be, they're talented, but they're young. And then, obviously, texas defense is probably the most proven thing throughout the whole thing, but throughout the whole game.
Speaker 2:But the their. The question mark with them is their defensive tackle situation. They know how many transfers they took a defense tackle this offseason five. They took five defensive tackle transfers. Does that sound like a team that has very good defensive tackles? That sounds like a team that's a little bit desperate at that position. So you're not really going to expect for them to like be dynamite at that position, but their defensive ends are pretty good. Colin simmons I think colin simmons is like the one defensive end. He's actually pretty good. And then you have the other guy on the other side that's also playing well. That's also very good at that position as well. So, looking at this game all in all, I've kind of rambled on about this enough and Jace has kind of just let me go. I think Ohio State, being at home, I think is a little bit more assured in a couple positions.
Speaker 1:Fumble, it was on the forward pass.
Speaker 2:What'd they call it? They called it a forward pass. I think they did. That's crazy. They're fucking coaches. Oh yeah, I think Ohio State has a few more.
Speaker 2:I think people don't understand what Ohio State has coming back. They are missing a little bit when it comes to the what is it experience. But I think, to a certain extent, where they don't have an experience, I think they'll have it in talent. They'll be a very good team. I think they'll be ready to go tomorrow. I think they'll be at home. They've seen everybody talk about how Texas is going to come in and win the game and I think they'll be very motivated to come in and be like hey, this is our team now. And not to mention I hate I've been.
Speaker 2:I know I've said this multiple times, but nobody wants to necessarily truly believe it Ohio State has the best offensive and defense player in this whole game. They have Jeremiah Smith, who's arguably the best football player in all of college football. They have Caleb Downs, who's also in that argument, but also the best defensive player in football, and I think that's a very good start for Ohio State to be like I think we have the confidence to come out there and win that game pretty handily tomorrow. Tomorrow, and I'm like, in the way I look at it, I think Ohio State can win this game. I think it's gonna be a close game but I think they'll be able to handle it. I have Ohio State winning this game 23 to 17. I think Julian San will play. I don't think he's gonna like necessarily like have a field day and like throw it all over the place, but he'll complete like 60 65 percent of his passes. He won't make the crazy bad mistake and throw a pick and I think all he has to do is sit out there and be like hey, let me get it to my weapons and let them make, let them make the move and let them get upfield. He'll be able to do that.
Speaker 2:Jeremiah smith, carnell tate, brandon innes a guy jason doesn't necessarily believe in yet, but I think tomorrow I'll be able to tell him all about how great Brendan Ennis is, like hot take. I think Brendan Ennis might have more catches than Jeremiah tomorrow with how they played him last year in the playoff. They said, hey, we're going to bracket you, we're going to give you two to three guys in coverage at all times, and I think with that happening, they'll be able to throw to Carnell. They'll be able to throw to Brendan Ennis. Max Clare, the tight end we picked up from Purdue Sorry, something choked in my throat. That was crazy.
Speaker 2:Max Clare, the tight end we got as a transfer from Purdue. He was one of the best tight ends in college football last year on a team that had no wide receivers. Imagine what he'll be able to do this year, where they will not be able just to bracket him and he'll be able to sit in the middle of the field and eat. So I think, with all that being the case, I think Ohio State will win this game. I think they'll show the world why I truly think that Ohio State has a true chance to go and go back-to-back. I really do think so. I think they'll be able to show that tomorrow. Jace, go ahead and give me, now that I've rambled on long enough, what your questions are. You kind of mentioned it before we started, but you said quarterback potential question mark that you have to be answered, obviously. What else do you think? Because I've already told you about Brandon Ennis.
Speaker 2:You'll know him by tomorrow, backs are unproven, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1:I can agree to that. You had two really, really good backs. Just leave your school and I've never seen these two OSU backs typically make a statement during a year before they really start.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, nothing from these two. They never even get touched a field. That is the downside of having two backs, like we had last year that were so good.
Speaker 1:And again, typically, from what I've seen of Ohio State bats, they typically make some type of impact with that second guy, his job's in question, like Quenchon Juckins, and Travion. Travion Henderson was doing, quenchon Juckins was on his fucking ass.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:In all honesty, Quenchon Juckins was a better back.
Speaker 2:I don't Better breakaway speed no travion, my bad travion's a break.
Speaker 1:Better breakaway speed. One beats women, I don't know I don't know the one that was. That's quinch on okay, I don't know, but again, one of them was always on the other of hey, no one really has this job yeah, they were sharing it, for sure, and I've seen that a lot no issue backs of no, especially over the last couple. No one really has this job. Yeah, I've never heard of these students.
Speaker 2:James Peoples. He's coming out of Texas.
Speaker 1:That's the one I kind of know a little bit better because I remember him from Texas. That's why I know him and Texas gets a lot of good running backs. Yeah, but you don't transfer.
Speaker 2:No, he wouldn't transfer.
Speaker 1:Is he from Texas? He's from Texas. Oh, so he went to Texas.
Speaker 2:No, I don't know the second that we got him as a freshman. He was a freshman back last year. He's coming into his sophomore year.
Speaker 1:Okay, cool, but again.
Speaker 2:And then we also have the guy from West Virginia. He was a West Virginia back for the last couple years. He was, I think he has like 3,000 yards rushing rushing in his college career, so he's done it. He'll be a good secondary back to use.
Speaker 1:That's cool. I've never seen him play.
Speaker 2:No, for sure, that's a question.
Speaker 1:Yeah, this is the Big Ten, I agree. So I don't know your DNs. I was already talking about it. Defensive line.
Speaker 2:They have to answer questions A lot of them look shaky Again.
Speaker 1:I did not fault you. I know your linebackers, I know your secondary. They're all very, very good. Yeah, I do not question that ball is not going in the air. There is nowhere for that ball to go in the air.
Speaker 2:If I'm running and I'm a receiver, or if I'm on a cross route and I see Sonny Stiles even get close to me, you got it. All you have to do is hope IGB is not getting too touchy. Why do you run?
Speaker 1:a 4'2 at fucking 6'4? Yeah, 280 pounds. That's not fair. Get the fuck away from me. No, for sure, there's two of them, it's not just Sonny Styles.
Speaker 2:I know, but that's a Him and Arville.
Speaker 1:Again.
Speaker 2:Literally carbon copies of each other.
Speaker 1:I have watched Sonny Styles run yeah same year um where did he go to school again?
Speaker 2:he went to pick central or pick north.
Speaker 1:I think he went to pick north. He went to pick north um.
Speaker 2:He's in his fourth year so, but he came out at 17 so I watched sonny styles play football then probably potentially yeah, there's a high.
Speaker 1:There's a very high chance. I watched him play.
Speaker 2:High school football.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm a year above him. There you go Right, I've been out of high school for five years.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and he's in his fourth year.
Speaker 1:So he left school the same time I left school. We graduated at the same time. Yeah, so odds are I did see him play football at some point.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no question, he's very good, and I just think that I think Ohio State needs to prove to the masses why they should not be underdogs in this game. But I just think, even with the questions you said, I just think they have, they're going to be ready to prove it tomorrow.
Speaker 1:What? Now I'm really trying to think about it. We don't play Pickerington schools very often, no, but South is one of the better schools in Ohio. Maybe, I'm just going to think about it. I don't remember this big brolic black nigga.
Speaker 2:Hey, he's honestly awesome and he started at safety, made the switch to linebacker last year.
Speaker 1:They would have had to play at some point because they like scheduling teams that have star players against each other and at the time we had one dude the receiver.
Speaker 2:Went to Penn State.
Speaker 1:Yes, they probably did. We probably did play him at some point, I think it's Sanders, saunders, saunders. Caden Saunders yeah, so I would have had to watch them play at some point. Maybe, I don't know, dude, I can't remember.
Speaker 2:Okay, so let me ask you the question. Let me keep this going. Yeah, you think Ohio State loses or wins?
Speaker 1:I don't know. You two are very, very similar. I do think your defense is better, though I think their front seven, I think their front four is more proven.
Speaker 2:Their D tackles aren't, but their defensive ends are, and I agree, simmons, their one defensive end. He's a monster.
Speaker 1:That's what I'm saying I think they're a little more proven in a way that everybody on the defensive line is new to me personally.
Speaker 2:I don't know them.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I think they're a little more proven on the front four, but your secondary is so much better. Caleb Downs is the best defensive player in the college football right now.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Guaranteed. I agree with you. Yeah, I don't know what Arch is yet.
Speaker 2:I don't think anybody truly does.
Speaker 1:But in my heart of hearts I know he's good Right.
Speaker 2:I don't know. I know he's good. I think I've been an Arch skeptic from the beginning.
Speaker 1:I'm skeptical of him. I agree, I am going to look at you for who you are. And who you are is probably a kid that's been practicing and playing football since you were a kid. Yeah, around NFL caliber players.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he's been groomed. He's been groomed to be a quarterback.
Speaker 1:So who you should be.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:You should be elite.
Speaker 2:Not to mention the physical skills he has. He can run, he does. You have everything, your uncles don't Everything you should be.
Speaker 1:You should be elite. Yeah, but I have not seen it from you. Yeah, and if you were really that good, you would have went to that Georgia game and fucking cut up.
Speaker 2:My question that's my biggest question about it is Quinn Ewers is now on the team now with Miami as like their third stringer, and he did not look all that great in the preseason Last year. He got hurt for a couple weeks and that's when arch came in, but he did not. He did not like the world on fire, and I say this as a guy that I believed in quinn ewers at some point. But like quinn ewers did not look all that great all all year last year. So the idea that this is now arch's third year and he's finally getting his first chance to start it makes you question that if he was that type of dude, how couldn't he beat Quinn Ewers out for that job Like Caleb Williams did when he was taking out Spencer Rattler at Oklahoma? Caleb came in, took the job and he never gave it back. So if you're that dude, if Arch is that guy, I don't know how you've been sitting on the bench for two years just being the guy that everybody knows, because you're a Manning?
Speaker 1:That's my question.
Speaker 2:That's my big question. You couldn't beat him out.
Speaker 1:I agree.
Speaker 2:Quinn has not been all world, he's been fine.
Speaker 1:Yeah, see, real quick. I said this about DJ Uyungle and it's a problem of Jaden Childs. Couldn't beat his ass out.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:That's my question. That's my question. I made the same argument a week ago and you debunked my shit. No, no, no, no, no. Did you want?
Speaker 2:to let his ass trash. Oh, he was bad. He didn't play that bad that year, but overall he was bad. Dumbass, right, yeah, maybe, but I just think ohio, like. So if you had to pick a score, what would you say off top your head?
Speaker 1:oh, this is low me too.
Speaker 2:I I bet the under 14, 21.
Speaker 1:This is low I agree.
Speaker 2:I agree. I think the defense is probably carry the water for the day. I think jeremiah smith is going to get a few plays here there, but I think they're going to make a concerted effort to try to make sure jeremiah doesn't do and doesn't do enough so that's the thing.
Speaker 1:I think this is where I also lose a little bit. I think they're gonna make such a concerned effort about jeremiah smith, it'll open up the offense for everybody else carnell tate, brandon ennis, max claire.
Speaker 2:Max claire might end this season becoming the like being the best tight end in all college football. Like, we got him to come. We didn't even need him as who tight end, max claire awesome, I'd see him. He he's literally. He did hit over 1,000 yards of receiver at Purdue, but Purdue didn't have anybody else and he still ate up there. So, like the idea that you get to have those type of weapons on the inside, give Jeremiah Smith too much attention and the other guys will be able to eat. And as long as Julian Sand like runs the offense and just makes the right reads and doesn't give the ball to Texas, I think we should be able to win this game pretty handily, even if it's not a blowout. I think it'll be close, but I think we'll be able to do enough to win the game.
Speaker 1:I'd like some Michigan steak here.
Speaker 2:Huh.
Speaker 1:I'd like some Michigan steak here.
Speaker 2:Oh, add that to the list. Add that to the Christmas list, even though, even though I'm buying you a phone, I'll make somebody else buy that.
Speaker 1:Prefer some tires gang.
Speaker 2:I'm not worried about that.
Speaker 1:Nigga I am.
Speaker 2:Other games Syracuse plays Tennessee. Tennessee is a ranked team. They're coming into their first year without why am I forgetting the guy's name? Oh, no, the quarterback, nico Iamaliaba. He transferred to UCLA. He's not there anymore. They picked up a transfer um to come play with them, but they're not really all that excited about what he's. He is coming in and they're playing against syracuse.
Speaker 2:Syracuse team that has a pretty decent amount of talent. They've won a decent amount of games last year and I think tennessee might be a little lower than what some people might think, because you know know they're an SEC team though, so they'll automatically be good. I just don't think that'll be the case. So I think that game could be very good. I did bet Tennessee plus 14. Like they were, so hopefully that'll be a pretty close game.
Speaker 2:Other games that are happening tomorrow you got, let's see here. I'm running through them. Georgia plays Marshall. Fun first game of the year.
Speaker 2:Alabama plays Florida State. I think Alabama's like a 17-point favorite in this game. Florida State's not all that great. They're coming off a year where they won like two or three games last year, so I think Bama should be able to win this game pretty handedly. Who knows what their offense is going to be with a new quarterback at the helm. I think Ty Simpson is their quarterback that they're going to have starting this game. So is their offense going to be a lot more efficient in comparison to what it was last year is a big question. Apparently, everybody's saying Bama's defense is going to be very good this year, especially the secondary. That is going to be tested a little bit. I think. Again, florida State they're a big name but I don't think they're all that good. So I do think Bama should be able to win this game pretty handedly.
Speaker 2:But again, crazier things have happened. Bama lost to Vanderbilt last year. So I'm not going to sit here and guarantee anything, especially when everybody wants to. I do think the coach for Bama is a very good coach. He did it at Washington, he's done it everywhere he has been. But I just think Bama might be a little bit too big of a monster for him. But it's going to take a little bit for that to be proven out and who knows how much losing they're going to do before that happens. Again, I don't think they'll lose to Florida State, but it would be very funny if that happened. Other games going on. Tomorrow Oregon plays Montana State. Ugh, that's gross, let's see here.
Speaker 2:Fucking snooze fest, goddamn, I know. Right, there's a couple, two more big games, at least lsu's. Lsu plays clemson tomorrow 7, 30 clemson's like, looked at as a national title favorite of them in penn state, like two, like most popular picks. You got clemson coming in with um, their quarterback that they've had for a few years now. Why am I forgetting his name? Kate Klubnick. He's coming in looking great. Lsu is coming in with their repeat, uh, their return starter. I think that guy let's see here. I'm forgetting the guy's name, it's. Let's see here. Oh no, why am I forgetting that guy's name? Garrett nussmeyer, that's what it is I came up with. I gotta figure it out. My own, garrett nussmeyer is gonna be the starting quarterback for lsu.
Speaker 2:Question is for both of these teams is clemson's defense gonna be good enough to be able to like to take a step forward from what they were last year, is the question I'm gonna have to answer. And offensively, are they're to be able to be a lot more efficient and be able to be a more consistent passing offense in comparison to what they've been in prior years? That's going to be the biggest question. Even with Cade Klubnick being as good as he is, he's a potential number one overall pick type of caliber talent from what everybody says. So are they going to be able to fix those type of issues is going to be a question to be able to be seen. Not to mention, is Dabo going to get out of his own way and not try to put his hands on the wheel when Dabo isn't that type of coach? He's not an offensive play caller, he's not a defensive guy, but he tries to kind of butt in at times and, I think, kind of ruins things. Will they be able to put it together against the LSU team where I've already said this before on the podcast today Brian Kelly, their head coach, I really hate him. He's not really that good of a head coach. He hasn't been really good for his whole career. He's been fine, but national championship worthy? I don't think so. And not to mention LSU. Is their defense going to be able to take steps forward? This year is a big question, because their defense has been ass for the last three, four years.
Speaker 2:Now Think about it this way they had Jay. Now think about this way they had jane, daniels and a heisman um have a heisman year and they didn't even make the playoff. They lost like three or four games that year. So if they were able to ruin a year like that from a player of that caliber, what are they going to do with a guy like garrett nussmeyer, who isn't anywhere near what jane daniels is, even though in nussmeyer is more of like a pocket guy, he's not really really running around whatsoever and not to mention he does like to throw picks Like he's a gunslinger in a way, but he's nowhere near as efficient as you'd like him to be and he really likes to try to put the ball where it probably shouldn't go and that can kind of bite him in the butt sometimes. But LSU is a talented team and, not to mention, lsu does not like to win the first game of the season, especially when it's a big game. They've had really bad luck trying to win that first game of the year over the last few years. But that's a big question to have to be answered on that one. But in that game I do think I probably rely on Clemson a little bit. Clemson is at home, so I think Clemson will probably be the team I would pick to probably win that game home. So I think Clemson will probably be the team I would pick to probably win that game. I'll go ahead and say like 28 to 28, 20. I think that'd probably be the score I'd pick for that game. I just think Clemson has a little bit more too much coming back and I think they're probably a little bit more consistent than what LSU would be able to be, especially with Clemson being at home.
Speaker 2:Let's see here what are the other games that really matter here. Utah, ucla, they play each other. I think that'll be very good. Like I said, nico Iamaliaba is going to be starting there for UCLA. Will he be able to take a step forward in comparison to what he was last year with Tennessee? It's going to be a question that has to be asked. Utah is coming in with a brand new offense coordinator and a and qb kind of they brought them in together from the same school that they were at. So can't utah, with a brand new quarterback, with a brand new office coordinator, kind of have a little bit more of a advanced passing offense in the comparison of what they've been the last few years? Yeah, their defense gonna be very good, um, but are they gonna be able to stop what? Maybe what ucla has coming in? This game is going to be very good, but are they going to be able to stop? Maybe what UCLA has coming in this game is going to be something to be seen, but I do think that's going to be a very fun game to watch.
Speaker 2:And then Sunday you got Vatek playing South Carolina. I just think that South Carolina has their quarterback. Why am I forgetting? Oh, what is that guy's name? R's name roster. I gotta get the guy's name because he's like looked at as like the potential number one overall pick at quarterback.
Speaker 2:Lenora Sellers big guy, but I just think his passing consistency is not all that all that great, but I just think that he has all the talent in the world and if but here's the thing with this South Carolina team, it's him and then it's the defensive end on the other side. But here's the thing with this South Carolina team it's him and then it's the defensive end on the other side, but they really don't have a lot of other talent outside of that. So are they going to be able to keep up with the guys that? And Vatek isn't necessarily all that great either as a team, but it's not necessarily a drastic difference between those two squads like you think there would be. So if their quarterback doesn't come out and like Lenore Sellers doesn't come out and like is amazing right away and can elevate everybody else around him, will they be able to like take care of Virginia Tech like they probably should is probably a big question.
Speaker 2:And the last but not least, you got the not last because I do want to talk about the Monday game real quick but the Sunday night game Notre Dame plays Miami big game. Two new quarterbacks coming in not necessarily new, because Miami's coming in with. Why am I forgetting that quarterback's name? Now it's the, it's Carson Beck. He's their starting quarterback coming into this game, so he's played a lot of football. Will he be able to kind of play a lot better in comparison to what he was last year is probably the biggest question for that offense. Not to mention their.
Speaker 2:Their wide receiver core, I think, has something yet to be desired. They do have talent on that, on that, on that position, but do they have the guys that be able to make the plays necessary tomorrow, I mean on Sunday, is probably something that has to be answered. Notre Dame they have Love the running back, who's university looked at as the best running back in all of college football. He's going to be a top 10 pick pretty much guaranteed. He's very good, but are they going to be able to kind of get past? Cj Carr is going to be the starting quarterback for them on Sunday.
Speaker 2:Will they be able to limit his mistakes and will they have a passing attack that will at least be able to keep the Miami defense honest so that they can be able to pass the football a little bit easier is probably the biggest question in that game. I think it will be close. I do think. I think I like Miami to win that game. They're going to be at home. It's not like they have a great home field advantage because their fans don't show up to their games, because the Hard Rock Stadium where they play is like a long ways away from the actual campus where they come from. So I think Miami should win this game. But I think Notre Dame has a lot of great talent, especially defensively, that'll be able to make the game close.
Speaker 1:I don't care.
Speaker 2:I know you don't, I know you've just been watching your game and kind of just let me go along, which is why I've been just going at my pace.
Speaker 1:Legit didn't even know I played tonight because I thought it was tomorrow. I know College football is an add-on to NFL football. I know.
Speaker 2:For you it's the opposite. My question for you do you think Belichick will be a good college coach?
Speaker 1:Oh fuck no.
Speaker 2:We'll see on Monday because he plays against TCU. So we'll see if he can coach college kids in the same way that he was coaching in the NFL. Or maybe he switches ways, which I doubt because he's in his 70s, but again, he does have a 20-something year old girlfriend, so maybe she's taught him a thing or two. So that's all I got on college football. I've kind of rambled on a lot enough and I know if anybody's probably listening to it. They probably got bored of me by now, but I have to do it because I'm just so excited about all these games happening and honestly, tomorrow I will be doing nothing but watching football all day long and hopefully it won't be ruining my day if Ohio State loses to Texas in the first game at high noon will probably be a big question oh did you read the portnoy thing?
Speaker 2:uh no the barstool guy yes he got hired to work with big noon, the fox um pregame show, and they he got banned from going inside the stadium. And not necessarily banned, but they asked fox was trying to get uh, credentials for guys to be on the field when they do like cause, like the last hour of their show, they're inside the stadium and they wouldn't let Portnoy in the stadium to kind of be on the field. So, and now everybody's taking this thing, ohio state soft and they're doing all this and that and why wouldn't they let them on the field? But the way I look at it is I think he's a rodeo clown for that show. He's not there to be a professional and I think if that's the case, I think Ohio State has the right to treat him like so and especially with if Fox is going to make Ohio State play all these noon games and not be able to play at night like their fans and like the actual school want to, who want to, I think they have the right to kind of throw their weight around and be like hey, we're the golden goose that you guys need to rely on to keep this whole thing going, and if that's the case, I think we deserve to not look at this whole.
Speaker 2:He's a very good troll he is, but his allegiance is to Michigan. It's very strong. He talks about crying Ryan. He's the biggest troll for ohio state and I think ohio state more than has the right to sit there and say, hey, we don't want this guy on our football field. I think it's more than reasonable. I think I do. I think if anybody else had this happen, they would do the exact same thing. Um, but that's all I got on that. I know jace is kind of tired of it too. Let's go, go ahead and get to the NFL stuff. Thanks for letting me ramble on, though I appreciate it, jace. Let's go ahead and get on the NFL stuff. Let's go. You want to get to all the news of the signings and stuff?
Speaker 1:Yeah, go ahead, okay Okay.
Speaker 2:So do I want to do this by when it happened? Right, probably do it by, so let's just go. All week, it has been non-stop news when it comes to guys getting signed this, that and the other, and let me go ahead and start. I think this started on monday, right? Um, I think that the first move that happened was our boy, trey hendrickson I would say our, because I think I've been a pretty, um staunch defender of him being like he should be paid. Um, he is going to be back for this for this season, for the bangles. They gave him like a 15 million dollar raise. He's gonna get paid like 30 million dollars for playing for that team this season. He's gonna be a free agent after this year and that's how this is going to go for this upcoming season. So, jace, now with Trey Hendrickson back, all good vibes. Do you have the final missing piece of what you think could be a playoff run that Joe Burrow may be able to lead you on?
Speaker 1:Nope.
Speaker 2:That's not what I'm looking for here. We're in a podcast. I'm thinking that you're about to pop off and say hey it's about time we win a Super Bowl with Hendrickson back, but not necessarily the case. Huh, I don't know. I'm glad to finally see it happen, because I felt like he was getting screwed over In this whole situation.
Speaker 1:I'm getting one year rental If I eat at all. I'm going to sit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no question, he's not going to go above and beyond. Who am I?
Speaker 1:kidding.
Speaker 2:No, he'll be a free agent. He'll be a free agent after this year. I think that was the agreement when they gave him the raise that they would not put the franchise tag on him. They lied, they did. I think that was the agreement when they gave him the raise that they would not put the franchise tag on him.
Speaker 1:They lied, they do it, they're going to do it? I don't know. It doesn't really matter to me, it's all for naught. He ain't been practicing, he's not going to be ready to go week one. We're going to lose. Who do we play week one? Browns For fucking cooking our ass.
Speaker 2:Never mind the rise never mind, I'm just glad he got at least something that he was able to get, because not?
Speaker 1:to make him put up 80 on the ass I sure hope so.
Speaker 2:I I love seeing the browns lose um. Next piece of news trey hendrickson. I mean not sorry, not train scary terry. He got his payday. I think they gave him like a four-year hold. On, let me see here, terry. I think it was a four-year Hold on.
Speaker 1:Let me see here Terry, I think it was a four-year $138 million.
Speaker 2:They gave him let's see here SpotTrack. They gave him three years, $97 million, giving him an average salary of $32.33 million a year with a $30 million signing bonus. Again, this was bound to happen. Them not signing him would be like a total travesty, because they made it all the way to the nfc championship game last year with their young quarterback in jayden daniels and I think the only reason they got there last year was because terry mcclure was their leading receiver. I think he had 12 touchdown last year. He he had over a thousand yards and he had like 80 something catches.
Speaker 2:So he is the main guy for this team and I think Scary Terry knew it and he's like, hey, I just want to get paid fairly. He wasn't asking for the world, he was just asking to get paid and he has absolutely done so. And I'm glad Washington kind of saw through it and was like, hey, let's not ruin the development of our own nice and shiny quarterback because we're trying to be stingy with trying to give, especially with Scary Terry being the model citizen. Before Jane Daniels got there and gave you guys all that prosperity, I think he was like the main guy, he was like the face of your organization for years before Jane Daniels. So I think he deserves that respect.
Speaker 2:I think he deserves that payday and I'm glad they finally gave it to him, because when the news was swirling that he might get traded to the Steelers, I'm like, eh, I think he is the most needed where he's at and I'm glad they finally realized that and gave him the payday he deserves. It was stupid they were taking so long to do it For them. It made no fucking sense. It didn't because they feel like, if they feel like that, they're a Super Bowl contender because again, they were in the NFC Championship game last year. So you can't expect to go backwards even though I think they might.
Speaker 2:I don't think as a team you can expect just like oh, we're going to be be able to do any of those things without scary terry at at the number wide receiver one position. So I just think it was stupid for any idea. For them not to sign him was absolutely insane. Um other transactions that happened, um scary terry trey k. Kyle Hamilton got paid $100 million. I think it was like three years, 100 mil Highest for safety, which is great for him. He's worth that right he is. He's like the key cog to their defense.
Speaker 1:I think he's an all-pro.
Speaker 2:For sure. No, he's no question an all-pro.
Speaker 1:He's what Sonny Styles would be if Sonny Styles would keep the lead off.
Speaker 2:Yeah, safety, no, no, he's no question at all. He's what sunny styles would be if sunny styles keep the lead off. Yeah, for sure I maybe. I just don't like the style of safety that he is.
Speaker 2:He's more of an in the box guy I don't think he's much of like a ball hawk type of safety, no, which is where I think, like he does cover tight ends well, because he he's pretty athletic, but I just don't think he's necessarily the ball hawk safety that I probably prefer. But no, he's still very good. He's a top five safety, no matter really who you talk to. So very good that he got that money. You know it's crazy, is that Deshaun Jackson? Nope, nope. Deshaun Watson. Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 1:Yeah, not even close.
Speaker 2:I was thinking the Jackson last name.
Speaker 1:Do you know he's going to have a set? I was the first dude to Eagles receiver for five, six years ago, yeah yeah, I know, I know Not great on my part.
Speaker 2:You know Lamar is going to have a $75 million cap hit next year because they gave him his contract and then they were kind of like pushing things down the road. So much he's going to have a $75 million cap hit, which I think is unnecessary, and they're not going to be able to do that and be able to put a team around him, which makes me think they're going to have to pay him either before this season starts or before next season starts. I think that might be because think about the last time that Jackson was trying to get paid, he asked for a trade. Things got a little bit ugly there for a little bit. So the idea that they're going to have to have another contract negotiated so close is going to be a big question where I think it could get ugly again, because Lamar has shown that he's willing to take those avenues to be able to get his money. So that is something to kind of like keep an eye on as you go, either before this season starts or going into next year. They're gonna have to revisit that because the 75 million dollar cap is kind of insane.
Speaker 2:Um, other guys to get paid. I just want to make sure there's nothing else that we miss before we get to the the big kahuna um, Um no, I don't think there's anybody else.
Speaker 2:Okay, let's go and get to it. The big one. Uh, micah Parsons, I don't even know how to put this into words. Um, how amazing this was when it happened yesterday. Um, so, coming in starting starting the week, it was not even starting the week. It was like one of those things like a couple days ago where it was like news that because obviously I've been going this the whole off season where micah's trying to get paid, and we've already talked about the story before, but I may as well say it again is that michael was trying to get paid.
Speaker 2:Jerry jones tried to do like a man-to-man deal between him, micah Parsons Micah Parsons was a cool at that. He said, hey, talk to my agent. He could, because you know he pays the agent to negotiate for him. So I'm guessing he would like that guy to do so and because, um, jerry Jones, being an old man and all that, doesn't want to do that, this thing is kind of devolved into like oh, like oh, now I want to get traded, which is what micah said and nobody ever truly thought it was ever going to happen. Everybody's like, hey, jerry's gonna do what he always does drag this out as long as he can and right before the season starts. He's gonna sign them, just like he did with dac, just like he did with zeke, just like he did with all these other guys. He's had to pay before and that's what everybody thought was going to happen.
Speaker 2:It has shown that things got super ugly. The whole thing with the agent was an absolute travesty. The idea that all of this came to this point because you weren't willing to talk to an agent is absolutely insane, especially when that's the fucking rules. It is literally a rule in the CBA that an owner of a team cannot do contract negotiations with a player specifically. It's literally a rule, and Jerry Jones broke that rule and nobody cares.
Speaker 1:I don't think that's always a rule. I do know there's a lot of players that do the negotiating for themselves.
Speaker 2:Yes, but not specifically with the owner. No, that's what's against. The rule is that the owner can't talk to a player specifically about the contract and negotiate that way and Jerry Jones did it, and nobody really cares whatsoever about it. Can't talk to a player specifically about the contract and negotiate that way and jerry jones did it and nobody is take, nobody really cares whatsoever about it, because that should be a violation that he's getting fined for him and that's not necessarily happening, but he won't exactly why am I watching some shit about quinn ewers?
Speaker 1:I don't fucking know, oh, it's arch.
Speaker 2:Sorry, I couldn't oh it's always about fucking arch. It's pissing me off. I hope we beat their asses tomorrow. No, I don't want to watch that shit. I hope we beat their asses tomorrow. I really do. I really hope it.
Speaker 2:I my wildest dreams is a blowout and we're sending them home packing um, but again, I'm I'm not naive enough to think that's really gonna happen, but it's my wildest dream. So nobody ever thought the, the trade was actually gonna happen. We're thinking, oh, he's. Again, I'm not naive enough to think that's really going to happen, but it's my wildest dream. So nobody ever thought the trade was actually going to happen. We're thinking, oh, he's going to get paid, he's going to get the money he needs and everything's going to be hunky-dory, even if it comes at the cost of him not being ready for the season and maybe potentially getting hurt. Because that always happens when a guy holds out and doesn't necessarily play football for a while, they and doesn't necessarily play football for a while they get hurt if they try to ramp it up right away. Coming into yesterday, news came out oh, the Cowboys are listening to trade offers and we're like oh, okay.
Speaker 2:Maybe this is either the Cowboys or Micah trying to drum up.
Speaker 1:It's a power move.
Speaker 2:Yeah, trying to drum up some interest, and we're like, okay, fine, Until around 3 o'clock happens and the news comes out that the Green Bay goddamn Packers trades for Micah Parsons and in that trade they gave two first-round picks and the defensive tackle.
Speaker 1:What is his name? Kyle Clark.
Speaker 2:Yes, that was a trade package for him. And then on top of that they came to an instant agreement on the contract. Kyle Clark yes, they gave, that was a trade package for him. And then on top of that they came to an instant agreement on the contract for Micah Parsons. That money, let me see make sure I have it right here, because I want to make sure I get every dollar in the set, Because I'm going to have a little bit of a tangent to go on when this happens, Because I think me and Jace both kind of sit in the same boat on this, where you kind of don't understand it whatsoever. The Green Bay Packers not only gave up all of that to get him, they gave him a four-year $186 million contract with an average salary of $47 million a year and a $44 million signing bonus. Million dollars a year and a 44 million dollar signing bonus. Get. Total guaranteed at signing is going to be 120 million dollars. Oh my god real quick.
Speaker 1:I remember I called you on the way home. After you said it's because I started reading it, I was like damn. I remember I called you and I was like maybe jared jones, what didn't have ct on this one?
Speaker 2:that's crazy no, he did, because all of this happened because he wasn't willing to talk to the guy's manager I, I wouldn't want to either, if you wanted this much fucking money you're not worth that.
Speaker 1:That's the thing, more than tj watt and miles garrett, okay, how would you like to.
Speaker 2:We're gonna park this out. We're gonna do a thing person by person, I mean side by side. Do you know, before we get to the Micah Green Bay Cowboys part, you know who won this More than anybody.
Speaker 1:Micah Parsons.
Speaker 2:The Pittsburgh Steelers. You know why we traded. We gave them George Pickens for a third-round pick and a sixth. That third-round pick's about to be a lot fucking better now, because they're going to be ass defensively this year.
Speaker 1:They're going to be ass. You have an early first-round pick.
Speaker 2:It's going to be a very early third. It's going to be a very good pick now, because that Cowboys team is going to be ass. So let's get to. Who would you like to go first? Cowboys, packers, micah, micah first. Micah's a rich fucking man, and if this was truly what he was asking for from the Cowboys.
Speaker 1:Real quick.
Speaker 2:It's insane.
Speaker 1:He's a rich man, just to still get bounced first round Because you're going to go play the Lions and they're going to bounce your ass.
Speaker 2:This is my problem. I don't get it. Hold on, why did you?
Speaker 1:move from one Dallas Cowboys to the other Dallas Cowboys, they're still the Cowboys of their division. They're going to make the playoffs. They're going to be 10-7. They're going to get bounced by a better team Because their whole problem is they are are. I'm sorry? If I recall, michael Parsons is the only nigga on that defense now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they gave up their start. If it's a tackle, I think they have a linebacker. That's very good.
Speaker 1:Oh, kyle Vanez, lucas Vanez, yes, yes, but he's a Linebacker. Linebacker. P-a-c-k-e-r.
Speaker 2:Because they gave up.
Speaker 1:Jai Alexander. He ain't there no more.
Speaker 2:Nope, he's not there. They let him go.
Speaker 1:So what the fuck? You just left the Cowboys to go to the Cowboys they have.
Speaker 2:Rashawn, gary. He's a defensive end for them. He's pretty good. Quay Walker, that was the guy I was thinking of. He is a very good linebacker.
Speaker 1:But again, the Cowboys already had that. They already had some decent linebackers.
Speaker 2:No, I was talking for the Green Bay.
Speaker 1:I know that's what I'm saying. The Cowboys already had some decent linebackers, so again, you left the Cowboys to go back to the fucking Cowboys. You didn't do shit. Your offense is now more mid. You now have an offense that is even more mid, with no number one receiver.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they don't have a number one guy. No, I totally agree with that.
Speaker 1:So you didn't leave to a better team.
Speaker 2:I think very similar. They get lucky, I think they're better than the Cowboys, but how much better. I think they're a better overall team. I agree, but how much better, I don't know.
Speaker 1:But when?
Speaker 2:it comes to the season, they won't be a better team.
Speaker 1:No, very similar. Yeah, for sure they're going to play teams and they're going to play all these good teams really close, yeah, and they get to the playoffs and get fucking torched and they get bounced Just like the Cowboys.
Speaker 2:Look man, I just—. So what was?
Speaker 1:the fucking point. Michael Parsons, congratulations. You are rich as fuck the idea and you are overpaid as fuck.
Speaker 2:Is he $7 million better than TJ Watt?
Speaker 1:There's three niggas who, I'm confident, are better than you.
Speaker 2:No, we did our defensive end rankings Like he was. I didn't have him top five whatsoever. I didn't either, because he doesn't. Fucking. He's not a great run defender, dude that you are a defensive lineman.
Speaker 1:You have to stop the run and you cannot. I've seen your ass on the sideline with a fucking inhaler mask on your fucking ass. Right there's players times where, I swear to god, tdy has not left that fucking game unless it is offensive players and he's not sitting down my thing is with him is that and when I talk to some people about it they're like, oh, he's such a versatile defensive player.
Speaker 2:But the thing is, if you're getting paid the money he's getting paid. They're not paying you to be a glorified linebacker. They're paying you to get fucking sacks from day one, from game in, game out. They want you. You need to have 16 to 17 sacks every single year of this contract for it to be worth it for them.
Speaker 2:And I think he's not that and I think the idea that he's so bad against the run and he's going to a division where all the teams in that goddamn division run the football like crazy. The Lions are going to run the football at you over and over and over again until he's ready to quit and can't do anything anymore. He's gonna get tired, just like that's been the move against the Cowboys. Defense forever is to run the football, especially at Micah Parsons side. Let him get tired and then he'll be a lot less effective than what he was the beginning of the game, and I think that's exactly what they'll do with the rest of those teams. The NFC North that's exactly what plan will be. The Green Bay Packers defense is a little bit better. They'll have a little bit more help around them, but they gave up their best defensive tackle to get you. So that's a guy in the middle of the defensive line that could have helped you out in stopping the run and that they don't have anymore.
Speaker 2:So I just don't know if, as I just I've never been a big believer in Micah Parsons and I think that now they're giving the money they're giving him, he better be all everything and more, and I just don't think he'll ever be that. He'll be the guy with the great pass rush win rate, but he won't get enough sacks, he won't get the pressure that you would like him to get, because he's a small, fast dude and not to mention this is my biggest issue is that he's been the guy that's relied on his quickness soulfully, because he's not a very big or strong guy. He relies on his quickness. But here's the thing do you know where you're going to be playing all season? Most of the time, you're not going to be on that fast track with the astro turf in the cowboy stadium. You're going to be in the frozen, goddamn tundra in green bay welcome to lambo nigga.
Speaker 1:It gets cold, sooner you'll be playing at Chicago.
Speaker 2:Outside in the elements, you'll be. The Lions are indoors. Okay, fine, you'll get a little bit of reprieve there. You'll be playing in Minnesota. Oh, minnesota's inside too, but here's the thing when you spend half your games. You'll be outside, on regular grass, so your speed won't matter as much anymore. They got Washington. It's cold in Washington, so your speed won't matter as much anymore. Washington, like you, like, it's just all those things that you're just not going to be able to do, the things you want to do when you're playing on that astroturf with the cowboys. I just don't. I just don't think he'll ever. The only way this, this whole thing, will be worth it is that they win a super bowl in the next two years.
Speaker 1:You did say he hasn't gone to chicago. He's going to Chicago in December. Twice Back to back. He has to go to Colorado in December.
Speaker 2:It gets cold. He'll be playing his own home games out there in the snow, in the freezing cold.
Speaker 1:Lambo is hell From anything you ever heard from ex-players they're like yeah, no, it's cold as fuck. Late in the year is hell.
Speaker 2:Cold as fuck. It's snow. They do have some regular grass, though, so it's a little bit healthier on your knees.
Speaker 1:It is until it gets really cold, and then you're stepping on bricks.
Speaker 2:But it's not quick. You're not going to be able to be as quick as you once were. So I just think in general I'm just not the believer in Michael Parsons that everybody else seems to be, that everybody else in NFL circles are, and I just think that, yes, he's a very rich man and I think, to a certain extent, if this was what he was looking for from the Cowboys, I think it makes me agree with Jerry Jones a little bit.
Speaker 2:But I don't want to give Jerry Jones all that much credit, because we'll get to the Cowboys side of this here Is that I think Jerry Jones is a goddamn fucking idiot. Like I get it, he's a very rich man because he made a lot of great decisions in his life to become as rich as he is. But in this situation, as the owner of a team that says, like he says, they're trying to win the Super Bowl every single year, they traded for George Pickens, like they did from the Steelers, because they wanted to get a team that can do as much as they possibly can and try to go win in the playoffs and go win a Super Bowl. If all of those things are the case, why in the hell did it ever get this bad with Micah Parsons For sure, and it not.
Speaker 2:Only was it against the rules for you to try to negotiate man to man with him, but you said it outright. You were rubbing everybody's faces in it and he's like, hey, I'm not going to negotiate anymore, I'm not going to talk to his agent. I everybody's faces in it and he's like, hey, I'm not going to negotiate anymore, I'm not going to talk to his agent, I don't need to talk to him. We already negotiated a contract, and let me think about this way because apparently, when that negotiated negotiation happened, it was in March. That was after um, um, micah, I'm not, no, sorry, uh. Defensive end. End for the Browns. Defensive end for the Browns.
Speaker 1:Which one?
Speaker 2:The one.
Speaker 1:Miles Garrett, miles Garrett, yes, you fucking dumbass.
Speaker 2:I remember his names decently all day, but until then. So that was before. No, sorry, that was after he got his deal. So he got the deal at around 40 and then since then, tj signed his deal and now it's at 41.
Speaker 2:And looking at it, if, if micah parsons really looked at this, him and his agent really came in and said, hey, we need to get paid 46, 7, 8 million dollars a year in order to make this work, I can understand why there'd be a little bit of apprehension. But I also think if you're Jerry Jones and if you got this deal done a year ago, when you probably should have, you wouldn't be in this goddamn situation at all, not to mention if you were to talk to them all this time. I think they would have gave you a little bit of a discount, which could be because this this is where I think. I think that when the teams really started to want to trade for Micah Parsons and like the teams cause like again, to a certain extent, I think the Cowboys got to a point where like, hey, these are the teams that have a has a good enough um for us to want to take the trade to get him. But I think, on the other hand, they have to get the deal done right away, before the trade even happens, because no team's going to trade away what they were going to trade for Micah Parsons without getting the deal done. So I just think, I think Micah Parsons looked at Green Bay and said, hey, I'm going from Dallas to Green Bay, I'm going to get a couple extra million dollars out of this. I think he was probably asking for 45 from dallas. They didn't want to give it to him.
Speaker 2:And as soon as green bay came into the pictures, like, hey, damn, if I'm gonna have to go to green bay, I'm gonna need 46 47 million dollars a year. And I just think that's probably how they got the number as high as they did. But I just think from the dallas cat like, again, we agree with jerry a little bit. If it's that much money, I understand why not. But I just think that if you would have got this done a year ago, you wouldn't have had to deal with this whatsoever.
Speaker 2:And because Jerry Jones fucked around for too long, you're now going to be without your best defensive player on your goddamn team and because of that your defense is still ass. Your defense is garbage. You got a great defensive tackle out of it, yeah, but he's 30, but he's not like again, like that's not gonna be the thing that changes your whole defense around. And guess what, those two first round picks you got for him you can't fucking use until after this season. So I just don't know how. Looking at all of this is that I don't know how the cowboys. If you were going to trade the man, you should have traded him before this last draft, just like we were what we were saying with the bangles. If you're going to trade hendrickson, trade him before the draft, so you can then use the draft, the players. It's going to help your team this year.
Speaker 2:That's why exactly, and I truly do. I ever truly think the cowboys ever intended on actually trading him. No, but I think jerry jones fucked around long enough to make it bad enough to where the only option was to trade him, and I just think that it has been. They're gonna have a very good offense for a little bit, and I think that their defense is gonna be so ass. They're gonna not be able to win all these games they're gonna have to be in freaking shootouts for and the Cowboys gonna be wasting another year of all, and the Cowboy fans will be like be like, hey, we thought we had, even though you actually know. What's funny is that I think, because of this trade, this has afforded the Cowboys fans a season of not having the wool over their face, like they don't have the veil over their eyes of oh we can do something.
Speaker 2:Reality hits like a motherfucker and I think that they're all pissed. Cowboys. Fans were absolutely mortified that you got rid of the best player on the team. What does that mean for this year? They're going to beat fucking ass this year.
Speaker 1:Trash.
Speaker 2:They were already ass with Micah Parsons, so what do you think they're going to be without him and I think that's the craziest thing about this and you're going to have Dak back. You're going to have Dak back. You're going to have George Pickens being a freaking sad boy by the third game because he's not getting enough targets. You're going to have CeeDee Lamb being a freaking catch merchant but not really a I don't necessarily think being an all-star receiver like everybody thinks he is, and they still don't have a fucking run game. So I just think this Cowboys team is going to be taking multiple steps back now and I'm very glad the Steelers have that third round pick because it's going to be a very nice pick a good third round pick, bro.
Speaker 1:You guys didn't win that trade.
Speaker 2:I just think you, because you can't say like we expect this to happen when you trade it for George Pickens, like that's a move you make when you're trying to go win something, but now, without your best defensive player, you're like you're going to be asking you're not going to win at all. Um, so that, for the Packers side of this, does this make the Packers side of this, does this make the Packers Super Bowl contenders?
Speaker 1:Do the Lions still exist? Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 2:I don't think they got nuked yet. I think they're still alive. I think they're still around Fuck.
Speaker 1:Then no.
Speaker 2:The Eagles still exist, right, right, yeah, they're still alive, fuck.
Speaker 1:No, you know what. Both those teams have Some good ass running backs, you know what both those teams have Good ass running backs and great offensive lines. You know what Michael Parsons can't do Stop him around.
Speaker 2:Do you know? What the bigger thing is? Is that I'm not all that sure that Jordan Love.
Speaker 1:I'm not even sure he's good yet.
Speaker 2:I'm not sure he's better than freaking Dak At his top tier. I think he is, I think when he's hitting his ceiling, but he's a fucking rollercoaster.
Speaker 1:Does Dak have an MVP? No, was Dak in the contention for one?
Speaker 2:He has been Jordan. Love will never be there.
Speaker 2:I don't think he's as good as Dak, I just don't know if you're trading for him and giving Mike all this money. That's a move that says we have to win a Super Bowl in the next two years and I just don't think that, with that being the case, I don't think they're going to Super Bowl. I just think adding Micah Parsons gives you a closer right and I just think that's a move you make when you think you're going to be ahead in a lot of games and you need a guy that can pin his ears back and go get sacks, and I just think that what this Green Bay team is, I just don't think they're going to get from him what they think they are and I just think that I don't think Micah Parsons puts you over the top into. I don't think this move makes you better than the Eagles or better than the Lions. I don't think it makes you better than what are the other teams in the NFC that I really that you really have to be accounting for? What are the other teams in the NFC that you really have to be accounting for? Nfc North, south East, nfc West? Does this make you better than the Rams? I don't know, maybe.
Speaker 2:I think, again, we don't know if Matthew Stafford is even going to be healthy coming into the year because he hasn't really practiced all that much with the back injury. But does this make you better than the rams? I don't know. Like does this make you? I just don't. They were already a playoff team, so like that's not necessarily a question like whether this gets them into a playoff contention, it's. Are you going to be able to beat the eagles? Are you going to be able to beat the? The like, the lions? Heck the commanders? Even though I don't, I think they're gonna take a step back this year.
Speaker 2:I think their defense is kind of awful but I still think they're better than packers but, like I think jane daniels is going to be more consistent than anything jordan love has been throughout his career sorry, it's western michigan partner almost got his ass killed.
Speaker 1:The ball did hang a while but he was sitting there Waiting and the dude came up. Dude had to go past him. Because, he was coming in so hot Dang, and it wasn't until after he had already passed when he waved his hand. That boy about died. I just Does this really benefit you.
Speaker 2:This is a we got to win a Super Bowl In two years type of move.
Speaker 1:Real quick. If there's one thing NFC teams do have, they all have really good fucking running backs.
Speaker 2:All of them.
Speaker 1:have really good running backs Teams in your division.
Speaker 2:They do have a running back. Who Josh Jacobs? Who Josh Jacobs?
Speaker 1:What the fuck does he have to do?
Speaker 2:Your favorite running back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but what does he have to do with anything?
Speaker 2:Well, you said the other teams have really good running backs. Oh, you're talking about what they're going to do against Micah.
Speaker 1:My bad. Yes, I know my apologies, I thought you were comparing the Packers to everybody else and with a team like the Lions already being in your division, they can fuck around and run that ball 30 times. They will, If you let them they will, they're going to. They have a two-back system of hey, they can, they can run the ball every play. You know what Mike Parsons is going to be by the third play.
Speaker 2:He's dying. He's going to be screaming for air.
Speaker 1:You know what's about to happen. You guys have zero secondary.
Speaker 2:Is he going to be able to do anything against Penesol? I don't think so. Oh, I forgot that name. Penesol's going to murk his ass. I just don't like and they have a really good left tackle too. I just don't think Penesol is the left tackle. Sorry, right tackle.
Speaker 1:Oh, I didn't think about that. Penesol's going to body his dumb ass.
Speaker 2:And they move Penesol around, they put him on motions. They do be moving. He'll be running free, ready to molly-wop your ass or he'll fuck around and go touchdown.
Speaker 1:Like I just that's a good point. I'll be honest, I do remember a play when they moved his ass to the right and had him pull and he came around and fucked up that left hand. Yeah, I can't wait Until that's Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2:I just don't know how, if you are Green Bay, how I get it, how this is like a closer. They do be fucking around With the paint. So a lot they move him a lot, they don't care.
Speaker 1:I guess he is very, very athletic.
Speaker 2:They don't have Ben Johnson as the coordinator anymore, but I'm just like it doesn't take a genius to look at Benesu and be like, oh, we got to use that guy.
Speaker 1:I can do something because he is very, very athletic. Yeah, now O-Lyman all athletic, but he is big.
Speaker 2:He's a little smaller.
Speaker 1:He's very, very quick.
Speaker 2:Yeah, very quick and strong. Very quick and very strong my secondary's ass.
Speaker 1:I'm sorry, I just every time I look back it's just a deep ball thrown in.
Speaker 2:We can never do this podcast while Halsey's playing, because I would freak out.
Speaker 1:Just go ahead and watch this.
Speaker 2:Oh boy, let's see here. That was a good throw and a catch, though he was there. That was a good throw and a catch, though he was there, yeah, but was he?
Speaker 1:This nigga fell. If that receiver, don't trip over him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he was running for his life trying to catch up. You're not wrong. You let him pass you. That's Western.
Speaker 1:Michigan. That is not a superb athlete as a receiver. Yeah, you're not wrong, you're not wrong. I have to watch this nigga cover, Jeremiah Smith. No, I don't, no, I don't, no. You don't have to face this year.
Speaker 2:No, we're good, no me, and you are in a good spot.
Speaker 1:Because if I have to sit here and watch a touchdown, I genuinely hope there is not a year where I have to watch this.
Speaker 2:I think next year. I think we play you guys next year.
Speaker 1:I hope not.
Speaker 2:I hope not, but again, I just I don't think it benefits the Packers.
Speaker 1:I think the Cowboys.
Speaker 2:They probably win this because they got those two first round picks?
Speaker 1:They do, and they're going to be bad, but that helps you for the future. This year's first round pick.
Speaker 2:Oh, the Packers.
Speaker 1:No the.
Speaker 2:Cowboys. The Cowboys have their own pick, and do they?
Speaker 1:have the Packers pick this year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, oh, I see, but again, if the Packers are right, that pick's going to be in the 20s, mid to late 20s.
Speaker 1:But if they're wrong, you're going to get a team Maybe but I doubt that'll be the case.
Speaker 2:The Packers are already making the playoffs. Without Micah Parsons, I think they're still going to make the playoffs. That part's not going to change. I don't think they're going to go down the dumps.
Speaker 1:I agree, but again, that pick's still probably going to be around 22, 25. That's still not a bad pick.
Speaker 2:And this was a point where I think that everybody needs to understand. I don't think Jerry Jones at his age is a guy that could be making future moves. This move is going to get us better in the future.
Speaker 1:And they won't see the future.
Speaker 2:There's no guarantee he sees tomorrow, like there's no guarantee he sees the next 10 minutes because of how old he is. He's just like he's late 80s. So like I just don't again. You have a bunch of money, so I get you. You can last longer with medicine because you have a lot of money to be able to afford it. But I just don't know how, if you're jerry jones, you can like make this move and like, oh, we'll be better in the future jerry jones in his early 80s oh, he's, only he's in the early 80s only
Speaker 2:82. He's looks. He looks a lot worse now, michael. He's a false. He looks like a ball sack for a face.
Speaker 2:Um, but I just don't know how you can really like make a move like this and be like, hey, but you know what he said like when he talked to the media after he's like this will open us up to make other moves for our team. But I'm like, but here's the thing if you're going to make a move to add to your team guess what you're going to be adding A defensive piece. Oh, you know what that defensive piece? They would like them to be as good as Micah fucking Parsons.
Speaker 2:And as much as I don't think Micah Parsons is an all-world superstar, he's still a very good defensive player and a very young one. So I just think, if whatever move, you think you for them to have the same type of impact on your defense that michael parsons did, you let the new walk out the door. So I just don't know. I like, I think and I honestly, if I'm being honest, I don't think they got enough for him I agree, I would expect three first, I think I think the packers gave up a lot because I just don't think michael parsons, all that, is that good.
Speaker 2:But I think, based off what everybody thinks Micah Parsons is, they didn't get enough for him, the fact that all it was was the defensive tackle and two first-round picks. They should have got at least a couple like a second or a third or something like that to add on top of it. I just don't know how that was enough. But again, I think they were at the point then we're like, hey, we have no other choice because micah parsons is not going to play, and I just think they were in like a no-win scenario. So they just had to make the move finally. But I just don't, I just I for micah. I'm very he's very rich now, but I just don't know how he's going to be able to do. He's going to have the same type of production in green bay that he had in dallas Michael Parsons, ain't that fucking good.
Speaker 2:I don't think so either. I don't Pass rush win rate is the only thing he's great at Outside of that. I just don't think he's that great of a defensive end. He has some very star. He can have some big plays, splash plays that make you like oh yeah, that's what we're looking at. But like he's, I just don't think he's that consistent of a dude that can do that down in, down out through a whole season. I just don't think he's that and I think he's going to a spot where he's not going to be accentuated in his skills the way that he was with the Dallas Cowboys playing on that inside turf and all that. Like I said earlier, green Bay I just don't.
Speaker 2:I just don't understand. I just don't think that he's going to take them to a Super Bowl. And if that's not the case, then what are they doing this shit for? I don't believe Jordan Love is a good enough quarterback for you to like say, oh, this is our time, jordan Love's gonna take us to the promised land. As long as we have a Micah Parson on the other side, I just don't think. Can you think of one big game Jordan Love has won in the playoffs? I can think of one. There's only one I can think of. Would you like to know what that game was?
Speaker 1:Go ahead.
Speaker 2:Against the Dallas fucking Cowboys. Do you remember when the Dallas was at home, they had that great year. Then the second round when they just had beat up on Tom Brady in the first round.
Speaker 2:Second round. We're like oh, the Cowboys looked great in the first game. They're playing against the Packers, who are a young team playing against a young Jordan Love, and Jordan Love and them torched him. That is the only game in Jordan Love's career that I can think oh, that was what Jordan Love should be in a big moment. That's the only game, the only game that's happened in his career that shows he can be that dude. But outside of that he's a fucking rollercoaster of a quarterback that I don't even think is a top 10 guy for sure.
Speaker 1:I agree with you.
Speaker 2:At his top end he can be, but he's not Consistent enough For me to believe He'll be that Every year. For the rest, of his career.
Speaker 1:We haven't talked about this on podcast and I just Thought about it Because it popped up. Kyle Raleigh, first ever catcher To hit. It's Raleigh.
Speaker 2:It's not Raleigh, it's Kyle Raleigh.
Speaker 1:He's the first ever catcher to hit 50 home runs. So sorry, it's a monumental moment because you have guys like Buster Posey who never really did that and he was one of the better hitters for a catcher, but yeah, he had 50. Sick, sorry, that's something I was thinking about. I know it's random, but I like baseball.
Speaker 2:Fun fact Kyle Schwarber had a four-home run day the other day. He was only like the 21st player ever to have a four-home run day. Kyle Schwarber liked that and he's now second behind Kyle Raley for the most home runs this season. But yeah, I just think for all parties involved, this trade makes absolutely no sense, other than Micah Parsons, of course. He's a very rich man now, but I just think for him, I just don't know how that's a better football situation for you, other than the fact you're getting paid a bunch of money now. But all the credit to him, he blew the market out of the water. I don't think there's going to be any defensive player that's going to make more than him for the next two, three, four years now, because I just don't think there's any other team that's going to look at and be like, oh, that's going to be the new standard.
Speaker 2:No, this is michael parsons taking advantage of a very specific situation to where I think that it like this, that mark will not be hit for a few years by a player or so. So I just again, I'm in all. I don't think this makes sense for anybody, man. I just I don't know man, I I'm flabbergasted in in every sense of the word. And again, this made me this whole this, I think, the biggest travesty that this. This made me understand jerry jones a little more, maybe side with him a little bit more, but at the same time I don't want to give him that much credit, because it's because his reluctance to talk to a guy's agent whose job it is to do the to do the damn thing when it came out.
Speaker 2:That's it's. It's insane that that's the reason all this shit kind of turned into ass, um, and I just think that that's like the biggest, like terrible thing about this is that jerry jones could just do what he wants, break the rules, and nobody will say nothing, and I don't know. This is just. It's a very terrible situation and I just can't wait to see what michael parsons does in a packer uniform. I don't, it's a very even saying it right now, it sounds weird for me to say him as a packer a player of this caliber doesn't get traded very often and they don't know for sure, it's like one of the biggest trades in the last few years.
Speaker 2:To be totally honest with you, Players of this caliber do not get. I think the last one I could think of oh is the guy that played for the. That's playing for the Chargers now he's with the Raiders.
Speaker 2:Went to the Khalil Mack. That's like the last. Heck, I think this is a very similar situation, khalil. But heck, I think this is a very similar situation. Cleo Mack coming on his first contract, his second contract, the big one, the Raiders trade him to the Chargers. No, sorry, they trade him to the Bears. The Bears give him the big contract and do all that. They give him a lot more picks for him than what Green Bay gave up for Micah Parsons.
Speaker 1:But that's like the last— it worked out better for them. He was good for the Bears, yeah, but the Bears weren't shit.
Speaker 2:That's the thing. The Bears, even with that great defensive player, didn't do shit with him. And that's the risk that the Packers are taking in this is that if you take a guy of that caliber, you trade for him. Your next two first-round picks are now gone, so that you're not going to add some really high caliber talent to your team over the next couple years. And if you don't do shit with them, then what the fuck are you doing Now? You're paying a bunch of money on top of it and you lost your best defense tackle.
Speaker 2:I think this could be a big old nothing burger, and I think in the moment it was such a big deal that it happened that I think in the end, in three, five years down the line, we're gonna be like oh, that shoot was for nothing, and I think the Cowboys won't win a Super Bowl anytime soon, or even a playoff game, and the Packers will get close at points. But they'll just never be that team in the NFC that we all think is gonna like win the Super Bowl, like they probably think they will be now. They made this move.
Speaker 1:I agree, no, everything you're saying it's messy talked about this yesterday and I agreed with everything you said.
Speaker 2:It's crazy, it's a wild scene. Okay, and that's all the NFL news we have. I think it's very quiet right now because literally everything starts next Thursday.
Speaker 2:It's the Eagles and the Cowboys play literally on that Thursday night. So next week we're going to be doing another. We're going to probably have to do an early week or early week podcast of some sort to make sure we can do the preview for that Thursday Thursday game. Do you want? Do you want the next week to be our last like one one podcast week and then doing starting the two ones the week after? Yeah, okay, so we'll have to podcast on like at like tuesday or wednesday next week school wednesday okay, we can do wednesday.
Speaker 2:Wednesday is fine with me, so we'll do a wednesday podcast next week to do the. We'll obviously we'll do the reaction from this past week at this weekend's games on that Wednesday pod and then we'll do the preview of all the upcoming games for that first week of NFL games. So that'll be a very exciting time for us. So, and then the week after that we'll start doing the two podcasts a week so we can do keep doing the recaps of all the games and then doing the previews of the games.
Speaker 2:After we are here, dude, we're football, we're football's here and the college football's here. Next week the NFL stuff will be there and then we're going to be off to the races, having the time of our lives following the sport that we love so much. And you'll be following Joe Burrow, I'll be following Aaron Rodgers in the Pittsburgh Steelers how unfortunate I'll be on a freaking roller coaster. I think we'll both be on roller coasters in our own ways. So I'm very excited for this time of year. I'm very happy.
Speaker 2:Hopefully tomorrow I will be a happy camper. But who knows, man, I'm just. I'm just. I know tomorrow I'm going to have my stomachs going to be turned and not be able to eat. I'm going to be very nervous and I'm wearing this national championship shirt to kind of like this. And I'm wearing this national championship shirt to kind of like this is my last day. I get to like bask in the title and then the next, tomorrow, the new season starts and we back down trying to climb the mountain once again. So very excited for what's to come Before we go for the games that are happening right now your game you guys are winning 21-0.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the other game that's happening right Auburn's beating Baylor 17-3. So that game is pretty in hand for Auburn right now. Again, crazy things that happened, but I think Auburn's really doing a good job of doing their thing there. Georgia Tech's beating Colorado 10-7. I'll have to get some eyes on that game because if Georgia Tech loses to Colorado, it's definitely not big. It's definitely a big deal. If Georgia Tech loses to Colorado, it's definitely not big, for it's definitely a big deal if Georgia Tech loses this game, with all the hype that they had before the season, potentially being a team that can get to the SEC title game. And then that's all the games that are happening right now. So that's about it for that and let's go ahead and end the podcast.
