Speaker 2We're here back with another episode and I am Braylon doing the intro today wow, I was gonna do that part where I was gonna explain that you're the younger brother. That usually isn't on the pod. Jace will be on the pod here in a little bit.

Speaker 1Yeah, he's on the pooper, that's exactly where he is, he's just taking his little time so I'm here.
Speaker 2Braylon decided to jump in just kind of do his thing here. So, um, yeah, you made that so awkward, but it was funny at the same time. So I mean, we're gonna keep it, we're gonna go with it. So we're back. Um, we have. This is pretty much going to be our all um previewing episode when it comes to everything, all the games that are coming up this weekend. We do have the one game to react to. That happened yesterday, being that thursday night football game, but I'll wait for jace to get here for that and I'll just go with the college ball stuff, just because that's the part he usually doesn't really do anything with anyway, because he doesn't care until it comes. Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 1I don't really watch sports, so I am just going to be listening and probably on the thing, on whatever I want, yeah, yeah, no question.
Speaker 2Honestly, I'm not sure what's going to come of all this, but you know it's all good Again. It can't get much worse than what things we've talked about on the pod already, so we'll just go with it here. College football let's go ahead and get that over with. I just have some games I just want to preview real quick, just the ones that are a little bit more popular. More just the ones that are a little bit more popular, more the ones that everybody's going to be watching. So I'm just going to go through them, give a general consensus and probably my pick on it, and that'll be good with that.
Speaker 2So Clemson-Georgia Tech that game is happening at noon. Clemson looking as bad as they did last week against, I think, they played Troy. They needed a comeback effort to come back and win that game, but they're playing against Georgia Tech team that has a lot more talent to them, a little more talent equated to Clemson in comparison to what Troy was able to do. And my question about it is is Clemson going to show that they're the team that everybody thought they were coming into the season, or are they just going to show that they're the fraud that they kind of proved themselves to be against Troy. Was that a one-time deal or was that one of those things that's going to like snowball effect into something bigger? And I'm going to tell you right now Georgia Tech is a good enough team that if Clemson doesn't bring their A game, georgia Tech can definitely win that game. They say Clemson's a two and a half point favorite. I'll probably pick Clemson because I don't think Georgia Tech's defense is really all that good.
Speaker 2But I do think if Georgia Tech comes out to win this game, I would not be surprised at all by that. Any, by any means necessary. No, no, I wouldn't be surprised by it. That's probably the way. I probably should say that, yeah, wisconsin going to Alabama. By all accounts, this should be a roll by Alabama against Wisconsin, especially with Wisconsin going to Alabama, but especially with Alabama losing as bad as they did to Florida State a couple weeks ago. But what they did last week, I think they rolled some FCS team, but they pretty much did it very easily. So it makes you think that Alabama offensively can be good if they decide to be.
Speaker 2But I just think that what Wisconsin would need to pull the upset on this one, I just don't think they have. They don't really have a dynamic quarterback. Their offense is really kind of like a pro-style offense, but they really don't have a lot of explosivity Is that the way to say it? Yeah, not a lot of explosiveness to their offense. It's probably the better way to go with that. So, with that, I just think that I would love if it would happen, because it'd just be the funniest thing of all time, because, let's be honest, if bama loses another game, if they lose two of their first three in a season, they are going to have their head coach at the stake. I'm going to tell you this right now this would never happen with nick saban and if it happened, right, if it happened this season, I would not only laugh, but c Kalen DeBoer needs to get personal protection for him and his family, because those Bama Crip people are insane.
Speaker 1Especially after the run Nick Saban had so long ago for so many years.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1It's like Sabanitis almost.
Speaker 2Right like Sabanitis, because there's a generation of people that know nothing but Nick Saban and winning. But now they are getting a taste of what it's like to be everybody else and they're not going to like that so much. It's going to take a little bit of an adjustment period, but we just have to take into account that the fans are insane people. So it's just going to be like a very bad reaction if something happens that way. Other games I wanted to talk about let's see, don't care about that, penn State's playing Villanova. That's kind of insane.
Speaker 2Uh, number six, georgia playing number 15, tennessee. This game is probably the one of the more um look forward to games of the whole week, of the whole weekend. Um, georgia coming off of a game against Austin Pay where they did not look impressive whatsoever. Tennessee, on the other hand, has looked very impressive this season offensively, defensively looking okay, but they're not really all that dominant. But with Tennessee coming in with the new quarterback that they had coming in because of Nico leaving there to go to UCLA, why am I forgetting that quarterback's name, joey Aguilar, the guy that was at UCLA that ended up transferring to Tennessee once, uh, nico left. He has been playing very well and everybody's been kind of like rubbing it. Like everybody on social media and like the general consensus is that Tennessee made good and they they're coming out better on the back end of that whole big saga that happened.
Speaker 2But I just think against a team that has a better pulse than the teams they have been playing, I'm not sure if Tennessee is going to be able to have that type of output, especially as a Georgia defense.
Speaker 2That's not necessarily what they've been in years past, like one of the best defenses in all of college football, but they're still a very good defense.
Speaker 2So it's going to be a very good test to see if Tennessee offensively can kind of keep that output going against a much better defense than they would have to play. But on the other hand, georgia's offense like can you really trust them to be able to face off against a Tennessee team? Maybe their defense isn't all that great, but Georgia's has done less against lesser deep, lesser teams in general and even though I think there is still even a talent gap between Georgia and Tennessee, it's not even close to the talent, not even close to is still even a talent gap between Georgia and Tennessee. It's not even close to the talent not even close to as big as the talent gap Georgia had against teams like Austin Peay, who they played last week, and it didn't look all that great. And it seems like offensively they don't really trust their quarterback to like throw the football down the field whatsoever. So what happens? Is this one of those things where Georgia has been just been very vanilla against teams they know they can beat?
Speaker 2Or is it that their offense really can't do anything, really can't stretch the field at all, and will that make it a lot easier for Tennessee to kind of play them defensively? So that's the big question to answer about that. If I had to choose, I'd probably pick Tennessee. Just because they're at home and I just don't think Georgia offensively can just turn it on to play a lot better against this team because I just don't believe they really have the quarterback play to make it happen. But crazier things have happened. So I'd probably pick Tennessee. But I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia won that game, jay saying here, so I'll mention his Michigan State.
Speaker 2Spartans do play Youngstown State. They should win this game pretty candidly. I think they're 23 and a half point favorites. So if they were to lose that game it'd be insane. But for my bet on Michigan State winning six games this year, I think this will be a third win on their season and I think that'll be well on their way to winning that game. Oh yeah, it's what happened, man. Indiana State nothing close to what Indiana is even though Indiana isn't all that great either.
Speaker 2Next one South Florida-Miami. South Florida is coming off of two games this season where they beat Boise State in the first game, who was a ranked team at the time, and then last week they beat Florida in a crazy fashion. I think we talked about that earlier this week and everybody's starting to ask the question like what if they can pull off the upset against Miami as well, be the third ranked team that they would beat this season, especially being a higher, uh, top, more top flight team of what people thought would be the better teams in all of college football? I don't see it happening. I think Miami is going to take South Florida seriously. There's not going to be any of those things where they're not going to see what South Florida did last week and then just take and take them lightly. So I, with that being the case, I think Miami has a much better team, just like I think Florida had a much better team against South Florida last week. I just think that Miami is going to be a little bit more disciplined, I think even though I don't think Mario Cristobal is a much better head coach than what Florida has in Billy Napier, but I do think he's going to be good enough to at least have his team ready to go, and I think they do have a little bit better quarterback play right now with Carson Beck, so I think they'll be able to take care of South Florida without much of an issue. The line is 17 and a half. I think that's about right. But yeah, I'd pick Miami to win that game. I just don't think they're going to be dumb enough to make the same mistake that Florida did last week in the loss that they had against South Florida. Because I'm an Ohio State fan, I have to mention it.
Speaker 2Ohio State plays Ohio. Ohio is coming to Ohio State to play in the horseshoe. Osu is a 30-point favorite. I'll be watching every bit of it. Hopefully we can just like last week. We can kind of get our second and third string backups in in the second half to just kind of see them play. But I just think Ohio State is going to be able to take care of business and win this game Again.
College Football Preview: Key Matchups
Speaker 2If Ohio wins this game, hell will freeze over and I don't think we're all going to be living much after that. So I just think it's not going to happen. Ohio, like Ryan Day, is kind of becoming the new Nick Saban in a certain way, I think, with some of the mannerisms that he's kind of taken up on, like a mix between urban and um, urban and nick saban, that he's kind of like becoming coming off the national title. I'm thinking that because he has so much more confidence, because he knows that he has everybody's benefit of the doubt, I feel like he is kind of turning into that guy who knows how to consistently win and I feel like he's finding his style that way. Um, so I think Ohio's gonna win this game pretty good, pretty much going away um. The question is how fast? How fast will it happen? And I think it'll be pretty quick. Probably by the first half we'll be taking all of our starters out um yeah, um, yeah, 17 Ole Miss.
Speaker 2Ole Miss did not look great last week whatsoever. They're throwing a lot of picks, a lot of turnovers with their young quarterback, but do I think that Arkansas has the athletes to win this game? Maybe, but I think only if Ole Miss gives it to them. And I think as much as I think Ole Miss is a much better, even though I think Arkansas can take advantage of maybe some mistakes I just don't think. If this thing becomes a track meet, I just think Ole Miss was going to win this game going away. So I think Ole Miss should win this game, but I think they have found reasons to lose games like this in the past, so I would not be floored if Ole Miss managed to give this one away. Any more games? Oh, lsu, florida, florida coming off. The bad loss to South Florida, like I said earlier, can they get off the mat to play one of the best teams in the SEC, as everybody sees right now? And then LSU. Their first game was against Clemson, who has kind of proved themselves to not be as good as everybody thought they were coming into the year. And then LSU didn't look great last week, especially offensively. So the question is, can Florida get off the mat to kind of challenge LSU? And that's where I probably say no. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Brian Kelly as a head coach, I do think he's much better than what Billy Napier is and I think LSU's defense will be able to, even if LSU's offense doesn't do what they have to do. I think the defense for LSU will be able to hang on and kind of keep control of this game until the LSU offense kind of gets going and I think they'll be able to do enough to win this game. But again, florida, I think Florida, with what they're going to be this season, they're going to lose a lot of games. Their head coach probably going to get fired. It's going to be a whole thing because I think he's held on for too long anyway. And the nice young, shiny quarterback that they had, dj Lagway, has not looked good at all. So it would be one thing if you had a terrible team and your quarterback was looking good. There'd be a sense of hope. But that young quarterback that everybody saw as being one of the best coaches and one of the best quarterbacks in college football has looked nowhere near like that and I think that will take away any type of goodwill that Billy Napier could have that he got as of last year when they kind of went on that run at the end of the year.
Speaker 2Texas A&M against Notre Dame I that's. That's probably one of the bigger games too. I think it's probably that one might be the biggest game Now that I think about it, notre Dame coming off a bye week it's funny that they had a bye week in week two. Like that's really weird in college football to have a bye week that early and then Texas A&M coming off of a win against some FCS school no, utah State, that is FBS, but not necessarily a great team. They won, but not necessarily in the most convincing of fashion. Their defense isn't looking all that great and so will they be able to do something against that Notre Dame offense. Last time we saw them the quarterback doing okay when he when they were playing against Miami.
Speaker 2But I don't know, do I really believe in the Notre Dame offense to be explosive enough to like make Texas A&M pay for it?
Speaker 2I'm not sure. But again, that's provided that Texas A&M can be better than what they have been, because I think in the S, in the SEC, they're like, ranked last in points per game given up and yards per game given up. So can Notre Dame get their run game going? Help out their young quarterback to be able to have more sustained, long drives is probably going to be a good question. If they can, they should be able to win this game, because I just don't think Texas A&M offensively is going to be something crazy to go against, even though they do have a young, very mobile quarterback in Marcel Reed. I just don't believe him throwing the football is as consistent as you probably would like it to be. But you know, I think Notre Dame probably wins this game. But this is going to be a very close one. I'm not going to lie to you, especially with it being at Notre Dame. I will give them the edge in that one.
Speaker 1Vanderbilt versus South Carolina.
Speaker 2That one is a close one. Um, south Carolina they have a very good quarterback, they have a very good defensive end and then everything else is a mixed bag. For the most part Vanderbilt is like, even though they're looked at as like one of the worst teams in the SEC last year they beat Alabama and they do have a quarterback. Um, why am I forgetting that guy's name, diego Pavia, who was like a sixth, seventh year guy in college football, but he's been playing for a while. He runs the football very well. They have a very weird offense to go against. They kind of do like some triple option stuff that's like very different in comparison to what a team faces the rest of the year against the rest of the SEC. So I do think that Vanderbilt is good enough to make this a game, if not all the way win it. But I just think South Carolina at quarterback will he be able to. Why am I forgetting that quarterback's name? It's Lenora Sellers. He's looked at as potentially a number one overall pick type of guy and if he can make some of those Cam Newton-ish and just he can be a little more consistent throwing the football down the field I do think they have enough to potentially win this game. But I just think vanderbilt just knows how to, as an underdog, come in and in these games where you think they should lose, and they come in and like, do something special. So wouldn't be surprised if vanderbilt pulls off the upset there. But I do kind of lean towards South Carolina in that scenario. Um, I think that might be it. Man, utah's a very good Utah is actually kind of under um, under the radar to it in a sense.
Speaker 2Last year they had a down year and then everybody's kind of forgot. Utah was even on the map and they've come out this year and they've taken care of business and every game that they've played this year. They're a little bit better offensively than they've been in years past, especially being in Wyoming. That is a hard place to play um, with the mountain winds and all of that like. That's something that, like you do have to worry about. But I do think Utah has an overall talent and skill advantage that I just think that Wyoming will not be able to take advantage of. So I think Utah is going to win this game. It's just how will Utah be able to take care of business, or are they going to make it harder than it should be. It's probably the question on that and that's about it, for that's all for next week.

Speaker 1Yeah, I meant like college. Did you ever talk about the Little League World Series?
Speaker 2No, Go ahead, I'll let you have this one. Go for it.
Speaker 1I thought you would have something to say about it.
Speaker 2No, I know when it's usually all over ESPN for like a week or two, especially when I go to the gym. It's like always on.
Speaker 1Well, it's only for like, only last 30 days.
Speaker 2So is it already over? It's right, it's over right.
Speaker 1It only goes from July 27th to August 25th.
Speaker 2Who won it? Uh, it was, let me guess, hawaii, china. Oh, not surprised.
Speaker 1It's Mountain Nevada. Oh, okay, actually two teams. I have not seen a lot of, but I just want to talk about the players, the players, a lot of the pitching looks elite. They look very, very good. It's just I don't know. To me the bases always look smaller, like the distance.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, it sure is.
Speaker 1Which is always something I've always had a problem with in the Little League World Series.
Speaker 2And the fields are smaller.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think they should be playing on.
Speaker 2Bigger fields in general.
Speaker 1Yeah, where they play on.
Speaker 2They say these kids are 13, but they're all built like 15, 16-year-olds. Because here's the thing when they make these teams, they're the best in their area. These teams, they're the the best in their area. So it does weed out like these aren't just like the little, like oh, these are like the normal teams that has come up, and like they're like the bad news bears type of teams. No, these are all the best kids in the place that they're coming from, and they're usually bigger, they're usually stronger, they're faster, um, and they're pitching faster. They're hitting farther and you have, like these small fields. Yeah, it's like, oh fun, they hit a home run. But I'm like this kid could probably hit in like another 25, 30 feet on that and it's still get over. So I'm just sitting there like it. I don't know, maybe they need to update a little bit, but again, I don't think they're ever going to be like oh, let's see these kids hit less home runs yeah, I think.
Speaker 1I think it kind of feels like very. It kind of feels like a steroid era in a sense, where if they're making contact the ball is going flying. Uh, the the type of the amount of home runs they get should not be that much. And, by the way, china ab the, the taipei. China absolutely sweeped Nevada 7-0. One of the kids had a crazy outing, but I think that they should expand the field a little bit. I'm not saying they should be playing on 90-foot bases, they should be playing on a 300-foot field or maybe 350.
Speaker 2Because some of these kids are hitting one of those that might reach 300. I don't think they're anywhere near 350.
Speaker 1Like 320 dead center might be.
Speaker 2Yeah, probably.
Speaker 1Because the field I play on at high school is only 315 to the sides.
Speaker 2Right for sure.
Speaker 1But I think I just have a lot of critiques about the little league world series and it's like kind of it's very shocking to see some of these kids throw like 70 miles per hour off of a four, off of what a 44 foot distance.
Speaker 2I don't think it's that short, it's like. I thought it was. Let me look it up, let me, let me see, here you keep going.
Speaker 1But I've seen like the transfers of what it would look like from a what is it? From an MLB type of mound.
Speaker 2It would be close to 108, like as the they're 46 feet from pitching rubber to home plate and the bases are 60 feet apart.
Speaker 1They should play on 90, then they should definitely be playing on 90-foot it's just.
Speaker 2I don't again. You see some of these kids. They look like the little small kids in their, in their team and it's like, oh, that's cute. But most of these kids are monsters. Like they're all like they're supposed to be 13, but they're all built like 14, 15, 16 year olds yeah and I'm just like at some point, like it just looks way too easy.
Speaker 1It gets to a point where these kids are just getting bigger, you have to change the rules on how the kids are growing.
Speaker 2But here's the thing, the people that are putting this stuff up on TV, a la ESPN, they're just looking for money. They're looking for the money, they're looking for the eyeballs and heck the Little League World Series where they have it in Omaha. They're not trying to make the game less. It's kind of like the same thing as like the mlb rules, like when they change all the rules.
Speaker 2They're trying to make it more engaging for fans yeah I think they have it in a spot right now to where, even if it's not necessarily the most like um baseball, like they want it to be more entertaining for trying to get people to watch it's not, and they're not gonna, so they're not gonna change it, they're not going to it's like a middle ground between like harlem globetrotters and like normal basketball yeah it's kind of like that or like uh, what is it?
Speaker 1banana baseball? Is that what it's called?
Speaker 2yeah, banana ball banana ball.
Speaker 1It's kind of like banana ball, but but in banana ball at least, like you know, the games aren't scripted, neither are, like with the league series, the games like some of the plays are scripted, but the outcome of the game is different. It's kind of like that.
Speaker 2It's more just entertainment yeah, yeah, for sure, there's room for both, but it's just. I know the kids are out there, they're actually competing, yeah, but I just think maybe it gives them a soft sense, a false sense of security, by being able to do the things that they're doing on those fields and I'm like well, get here, a couple years from now you won't be playing on a field that that size.
Speaker 2Yeah so does it help you long term if you're playing on these small fields that you wouldn't be playing on, yeah, otherwise and usually these kids aren't like, even like the in the in the past.
Speaker 1Usually the kids don't even make it to make it to mlb. One of the only one of like the most notable ones is the who's, the dude from the yankees, the one that always looks high belliger, belliger cody belliger.
Speaker 1Uh, by the way, he always has looked the same with his eyes. He always has looked like he's zooted out of his mind but uh, no, he, he wasn't. He was like he wasn't the best talent back then, but he is now a great talent, which he's probably grown up with the perspective of it's going to get harder.
Speaker 2Yeah, for sure yeah.
Speaker 1And I play high school baseball and I'm looking around and this was an experience for me and one of my friends that was on the team. He was like I went from being one of the best or the best on my team to being not as good or one of the worst.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And I think that's a shock they have to go through.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And I think it's not as beneficial if you keep the field smaller. Yeah, but I do see ESPN's view on that, because it's business.
Speaker 2Yeah, got to keep the games entertaining.
Speaker 1It is business, at the end of the day, which makes sense for why MLB did it, but MLB does it in a fashion that keeps the game true.
Speaker 2They're trying to, other than the whole steroid thing.
Speaker 1Well, yeah, the steroid era. Well, I mean steroid era was only allowed for so long because they I mean I guess it was kind of a low point before then.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, not to mention, they saw that the viewership was rising, so like, oh, let's just go ahead and let's profit off this while the viewership's going up, but at some point the players are going to get mad enough where we're going to have to crack down on this let's just let it ride for a while.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, which is why I don't.
Speaker 2For the people that were doing it at the time, I'm not. I wouldn't be as mad if they went back on their thing like they. Oh, they should never be the hall of fame. I'm like, well, that wouldn't be a thing if you crack down on it when you had the opportunity to, but they, you took advantage I think I think the biggest case.
Speaker 1I'm very strong in this opinion that barry bond should be inducted in hall of fame with the stats he had before steroids, because he had seven silver sluggers before he even touched a roid or even touched the needle he had any. I think he had three golden gloves before then too, he was already a hall of famer, with 350 hits, with 350 home runs. And there's also the case that taking steroids doesn't affect your contact. It doesn't make your reaction time faster.
Speaker 1Yeah, but it does affect, it helps you lift the ball out the field, but not your contact.
Speaker 2And recovery.
Speaker 1It does help, yeah, with recovery. That's usually what steroids do.
Speaker 2Obviously your strength and speed kind of goes down once you get to a certain point. In steroids you kind of just bulk up to a point where you're not fast, no more, but it does give you. Here's the thing Either let everybody do it or let nobody do it.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think they took the right way of letting no one do it.
Speaker 2Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1Because we saw how fast Fernando Scotti got cracked down on it. It took him what a season of using it and he got. How much did he get? Did he get fined or did he get suspended, or did he get both?
Speaker 2I think he was suspended for a whole year.
Speaker 1A whole year.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think so. I think he missed the whole season. Or it was like the end of one season slash like close to all the next one. It was a bunch of games, bunch of games.
Speaker 1But yeah, I think the overall consensus is steroids were good for that era because MLB was losing money fast. Oh yeah, for sure no one wanted to go to the games anymore.
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 1No one was seeing the entertaining part. They were just seeing pitchers dominate the game.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Until we got the steroid era with Barry Bond, sammy Sosa, all them people hitting home runs, and then they realized hey, people are going to stop wanting to watch the pitch.

I think I might have to take back things I said about Green Bay coming into the year they might be a wagon, because coming into the season they traded for Micah Parsons. That was a lot of fanfare coming out of that and my question was does he make the defense a lot better this, that and the other? And is Jordan Love even going to be good enough to make it matter to have a player of that caliber.
Speaker 2Through two games of the year, jordan Love has been lights out. He might be the biggest question that Green bay has left is can he sustain because we have not seen jordan love do this throughout his nfl career so far go from start of the year to finish of the year, healthy and playing good football all at the same time? Because that had has not necessarily been the case throughout his whole career, but through two games so far he has looked very good. The defense for the Packers oh, by the way, packers won the game 27-18. I didn't mention that before.

Speaker 2Well, I was saying it for the record for everybody listening, because you know I just didn't mention it, but they won the game it was. I will say the one thing about the Packers' defense is that they had a plan of dealing with Jayden Daniels. They had, not only was their defensive line Commanders, 0-2?.
Speaker 2No, they're 1-1 because they beat the Giants the first game of the year. Their defensive line was able to get after him, being able to keep him from being able to sit back there comfortably, but what they were truly able to do is that they were able to kind of have their defense to where they were able to lock the dude in. Would you like to guess how many rushing yards Jaden Daniels had, the guy that has been able to run roughshod over everybody in the NFL last year? Negative four. Well, it wasn't quite that bad, but he had 17 yards rushing.
Speaker 2First thought was 19 and I'm like for a good portion of the game he couldn't do anything at all and so I think green bay has shown a lot of teams, the nfc, that if you can kind of get after him but also keep him contained, that is probably the best way to go against his washington team. I think it also proves that washington's offensive line is kind of a problem. Not great, they have a rookie offensive right tackle that they just drafted that didn't play all that well. But again, against the Green Bay Packers defense line is actually very good at getting after the passer, so maybe he'll be able to play better throughout the year. If not against the Green Bay Packers, because they didn't even get to a point where the secondary was even able to be tested, because they just they got so much pressure on Jaden to where he was just never comfortable throughout the game.
Speaker 2Um, for Washington's uh defense could not stop Jordan Love whatsoever. I think Jordan Love averaged like nine yards a play, but there was a point in the game where he was averaging like 18 because he was just every play was a big play. Um, they ran the football effectively. Green bay did. I think josh jacobs had 84 yards and a touchdown off 23 carries.
Speaker 2The leading receiver for this game was tucker craft six receptions, 124 yards and a touchdown damn they did lose jayden reed in this game, I think early on, like in the first quarter, like he ended up, um, I think, breaking his collarbone or something like that, so like he's gonna be out for a while, but like they still were able to get a whole bunch of big plays going and they just kind of like had washington in a hole and with their defense that they just couldn't get out of yeah um, michael parson is really good and, again, I've never questioned whether he was good or not.

Speaker 2But here's my thing. Do you know? The one thing we question about being in Green Bay is the teams you would have to face. They'd be able to run the football, and that's what Micah Parson is good at. They might have gotten Micah. Parsons at the perfect time, because through the first week of the season, guess who didn't look good at running the football? Detroit. Their offensive line looked like they were in shambles and they ran for like 50-something yards total in a game against a team.
Speaker 2They should have easily run the football on the Vikings. They look okay at running the football, but can you trust that with JJ McCarthy, Is he going to be enough of a threat throwing the football to make you?
Speaker 3have to do both.
Speaker 2And then you're also dealing with Chicago and they are a mixed bag of shit. So the teams they would have to face the teams we thought would be able to run the football on them and really challenge Micah Parsons being the guy those teams don't look like they're as good. So the way that I'm looking at this is like not only did Green Bay get one of the better defensive players in football, but the teams they would have to face to get to where they need to go. The only team that looks like they're going to be able to challenge them that way is the Eagles and be able to run the football and get after Micah Parsons. But is the Eagles and be able to run the football and get after Micah Parsons? But outside of that, what team is going to be able to try to go at Green Bay that way, to where they will have to be able to guard the run as well as the pass? And I just think that there's not going to be enough teams. So I just think Green Bay might be set up to make a long run in the NFL this year.

But through two games they look like a wagon and it looks like not many teams may be able to stop them throughout the rest of the year but still still have hope in Philly, but outside of them, I just don't know if there's going to be a team that's going to be able to. Can you think of a team that could even run the football effectively and make them question that I just don't. In the NFC, like Detroit was the team.

They have a really good safety and a good DB, yeah, but it's like you're not going to have like the early 2000s where you have like those type of defenses, the Steelers. That's not going to happen, no more. Because the game is so offensive, because think about it this way the Steelers have been looked at as like a terrible decision by having one of the highest paid defenses in the NFL. So it's like what is it going to get you that doesn't win you games in the NFL?

Thursday Night Football Recap: Packers Win

Speaker 3but like but again you're, they get. Kyle Hamilton is in all that. Yeah, I've never lived in a world where Steelers put out a bad defense. Oh yeah, because that's a culture thing, that's a culture thing is, the Steelers can consistently draft an amazing defense that wins games.
Speaker 2I wish they gave up on that a little bit to get more offensive players With your offense that With your offense. That's the problem. You guys probably have the highest-paid defense in the NFL.
Speaker 3They have been the last three or four years now, dude.
Speaker 2Has it led to more than getting to the playoffs.

Speaker 2Yeah, because they keep putting band-aids on the situation. Again, I think that's only the case because they're trying to put more on the offensive side. It's not because they're not trying. They're trying to which, again, getting DK is pending, give him $30 million and all that.
Speaker 3But yeah, I think nowadays the best way to build a defense is to have a really good lockdown DB.
Speaker 2Yeah, or a good DB with two good safeties, I think. Also I think Kansas City had the right formula for a while have a great quarterback that has a really good offensive coordinator. Slash offensive head coach. Make the defense just very young, or the Rams, make sure the defense you put good pieces in there first, second, third round picks, keep them young and then pay the really good ones, but then just keep everything else going and just let the quarterback go. But again, you only can do that when you have a great quarterback.
Speaker 3I think the Rams keep a very good balance.

Then they have Devontae Adams, who they paid to do some of the money.
Speaker 3A cheap deal is an understatement. That motherfucker was like a fourth or fifth round pick.

NFL Weekend Game Predictions
Speaker 2So I think I might have to go with Atlanta on that one. Jj McCarthy, he had one great quarter. Can he translate that into a whole game? That is where I ask my questions. But yeah, atlanta should win that game At least I think so, hopefully. But again, minnesota's at home, so I wouldn't be surprised if they won Monday night. Two games are happening that night. Let's go ahead and go with the first one, tampa Bay at Houston. I don't know, man, I really love this breaks my heart. I like Tampa Bay Mech versus CJ. Houston's defense is absolutely filthy. I don't think Tampa Bay's defense is going to change. It's not a great defense.
Speaker 3It doesn't take a lot to get Pat through that O-line.

That motherfucker was running, that motherfucker was throwing that bitch, he was slinging it like he had all the arm talent in the world. They're running the football effectively yeah that in the defense is not awful, it's not completely terrible. Yeah, no, I agree, and I think this, I think the raiders is an undermanned team.
Speaker 2It is. And the Raiders could not run the football last week the way that you thought they would, especially with their nice and shiny first-round pick. Running back, Geno threw that football everywhere though he did and Brock. Bowers is going to eat against that defense.
Speaker 3He is. But again, I think the defense of the Chargers is just good enough to get a stop.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I think that if this game turns into that, I think the Chargers will be able to run the football at least effectively enough with Amari and Hampton to be able to kind of shorten the game a little bit.

Speaker 2And I think Herbo, if he keeps this kind of play going, I don't think Vegas will be able to stop him doing what he wants to do. So I'm going to take the chargers. But I wouldn't doubt if Gino just goes out there and sprays the ball over the field, just like he did last week, and they find a way to win the game. But I just think this game could, whatever the over under, I just don't think either defense is necessarily consistent enough for me to be like, oh, that team is going to stop the other. I really do think the game in the 20s could easily happen, especially with it being indoors, don't have to deal with any weather or anything like that. But yeah, I'll take the Chargers. I think they should win that game, all right. Well, I said after last podcast we'd have a little bit shorter one today and I think we did a really good job of that. I think us having a movie to go to definitely kind of put a little bit of a booster up our butts on this one. But you know there's a lot of stuff to talk about. We did it, got Braylon in for a little bit, talked through about half the podcast, so that was a very good, nice little guest appearance on the pod because we talked about him a decent amount on the pod anyway. So but yeah, let's just go ahead. And oh, um, we didn't talk about the uh running back for the commanders last night who tore his achilles eckler, one play non-contact, tore his achilles right away.
