Bonner County Daily Bee

In this episode of the 7Bee Podcast, Sports Editor Dylan Greene sits down with Sandpoint head football coach Ryan Knowles and offensive coordinator Jeremy Thielbahr. The pair are brothers-in-law and both graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1997. They both went on to play college football, but at rival schools. Thielbahr was a running back and tight end at Washington State University while Knowles was a defensive end at the University of Idaho. In college, Knowles and Thielbahr got to face each other four times and in their final meeting in 2001 lined up directly across from one another. Both went onto to pursue coaching careers after graduating and eventually found their way back to the place they call home — Sandpoint. In this interview, the pair reflects on their journey together, what it was like playing each other in college, the impact longtime SHS football coach Satini Puailoa had on their lives and the values they are trying to instill on the players in the Bulldog football program.
