Theme Song

It's a beautiful day for a story, adventure, and glory, new friends and old ones too. It's an excellent day to get swept away in a tale, so let us regale

The Corvid Code

Theme Song

you

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Hoist the sails, Reginald

Redge

Aye, Captain Edgar Matey

Captain Edgarrr Matey

We must set out on the high seas right away.

Redge

No delay

Captain Edgarrr Matey

not today

Jonathan

Ahoy, Captain Matey I've just repaired the loose plank near the crow's nest, so all is sturdy and stable again.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye your crow captain can't go anywhere without a sturdy crow's nest I thank ye, Jonathan. Avast me heartes Prepare to set sail batten down the hatches!

Redge

Yar batten down the hatches!

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Raise the anchor

Redge

Yar and swab the poop deck

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Reginald We don't need to do that right now.

Redge

Oh I know. I just like saying it.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Right enough, my boy. Prepare to set sail

Jonathan

So what's the rush? I thought Redge and I were stopping by for a peaceful day on the water to help with a few repairs.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Yes, that is how the day started.

Redge

But Jonathan, something exciting is afoot.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Me navigator, Rose the Raven

Rose the Raven

Hi.

Rose the Raven

She found a brand new treasure map half buried in the sand on our last island excursion.

Redge

She's been hard at work translating the Corvid Code.

Jonathan

Ooh, what's the Corvid Code?

Rose the Raven

It's secret language spoken by ancient crows and ravens that lived near the Fantasy. Old seafarer legends say

Redge

that sounded like a series of clicks and rattles and caws known only to the most worthy of pirates. Ooh sorry for interrupting. I'm just so excited.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye, Mehearty, so am I

Rose the Raven

And you're right! And I found a written translation of the Corvid code hidden in the new map.

Redge

Can you believe it, Jonathan? Undiscovered treasure. Can we go with them to find it? Oh please, Jonathan, please, please, please

Jonathan

Well, I always love adventure.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Huzzah! Wonderful, Mehearties, wonderful. Let's raise the anchor and hoist the sails.

Redge

Aye aye, Captain!

Rose the Raven

So I've translated the markings on the map through careful study and observations.

Redge

Wow! Does that mean you know how to speak the COVID code now?

Rose the Raven

I can! It's a fascinating language. Many birds have used it to share the secret location of nests and exchange shiny trinkets.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Oh, I love shiny trinkets.

Rose the Raven

Me too.

Redge

Me three!

Jonathan

Me four.

Rose the Raven

Ah yeah. Shiny stuff is cool. Oh, which reminds me, Captain Matey, I know where we're going, but you're not going to believe it.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Oh what does the map foretell?

Legume Lagoon

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Rose the Raven

After referencing other maps in my collection, getting briefly distracted by practicing my Corvid Code, and then focusing again, I learned that this map leads to the Legume Lagoon.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

No

Rose the Raven

Yes.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Did you hear that, Mehearties? Legume Lagoon!

Jonathan

Uh yes, but we don't know what it means.

Rose the Raven

Legends say Legume Lagoon is a small secret place off the shore of the fantasea where an ancient piece of treasure is buried.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye, the most desired piece of treasure by avian pirates sailing the high seas.

Rose the Raven

The Golden Peanut

Jonathan

Ooh, that sounds fancy. What does it do?

Rose the Raven

No one is sure, because no one has ever found it before.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

We thought it was just the stuff of stories, but here we are with proof that the golden peanut exists.

Redge

Oh what do you think it does?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Maybe it's just really shiny.

Rose the Raven

Or maybe it has a tiny map in its shell that will lead us to more treasure.

Redge

Or it holds the secret recipe for the best peanut butter in the world.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

All wonderful ideas, Mehearties. Wonderful in

Redge

What was that?

Jonathan

Are the waves getting more wavy?

Redge

Uh the ship does seem to be rocking back and forth with more

The Giant Squid

Redge

gusto.

Rose the Raven

Oh did I forget to mention the giant squid?

Redge

Giant squid!

Rose the Raven

Well, in order to pass through this part of the fantasea and make it to the lagoon, the Corvid Code states that we have to speak with the giant squid and ask for a push.

Redge

For a push?

Rose the Raven

That's what it says.

Redge

Um, excuse me, uh Mr. Giant Squid, uh sir.

Giant Squid

Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me.

Redge

Mr. Giant Squid, sir, could you perhaps put our ship down?

Giant Squid

Huh? Oh Little Pirates

Rose the Raven

Hi.

Jonathan

Uh yeah, yep. Uh little pirates who are having a bit of a hard time uh balancing.

Giant Squid

Whoa. What? Oh, uh oops. Uh I'll put you down. Uh what are you little pirates doing all the way out here?

Rose the Raven

We are looking for Legume Lagoon.

Giant Squid

The Lagoon? Well, you can't get all the way there unless you meet a Giant Squid and say the password to convince him to give you a push.

Redge

Oh, um well, aren't you a giant squid?

Giant Squid

Huh? Oh wait, I am! Very clever little pirates. Uh hold on, uh let me get into character. Who on this Fantasea dare seek Legume Lagoon?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Uh it be me, uh Captain Edgar Matey, the most fearsome crow captain on the fantasea.

Giant Squid

Hello, uh wait a minute And what business do you have here?

Redge

We're searching for the legendary Golden Peanut.

Giant Squid

Aye, the Golden Peanut! Only the most worthy pirates will go on to find such a thing. How will you show me your bravery, courage, and pirate spirit?

Rose the Raven

With the password.

Giant Squid

Yeah, you got it? Wait, wait, I mean. Ah so you have discovered the password known only to the most worthy of pirates?

Rose the Raven

The password is Nedlog.

Redge

Ned log?

Rose the Raven

It's golden but backwards.

Redge

Oh

Giant Squid

Ah so you are worthy indeed. I'm so proud of you little pirates. I'll go ahead and toss you now if you're ready.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Yerrr uh toss us?

Rose the Raven

He's going to toss us all the way to the lagoon. First we'll fly a few miles to the west over the wandering whale pod. Then we'll take a sharp turn and glide through the great kelp forest. And then bounce on the mega massive jellyfish that live in Mega Massive Jellyfish Village.

Giant Squid

Oh, exactly that. So, uh you ready?

Redge

Yes.

Jonathan

Uh maybe.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Ready!

Redge

Thank you, giant squid. It's nice to meet you.

Giant Squid

Bye-bye, little pirates. And up you go!

Redge

Whee!

Rose the Raven

There are the wandering whales.

Wandering Whales

Hello, hello. Nice to meet you. Hello.

Rose the Raven

And the Great Kelp Forest. And now Mega Massive Jellyfish Village! And we're here!

Redge

That was stupendous!

Jonathan

It was something all right.

Rose the Raven

An incredibly efficient way to travel.

Redge

I can't wait any longer. Let's go find the golden peanut. Are you ready, Captain?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Oh aye, my boy. Let your old captain just uh get his sea legs uh for just a moment. Oh.

Jonathan

Wow, this place is beautiful.

Redge

So many plants I've never seen.

Rose the Raven

So many spots we haven't explored.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

And water is blue as the sky, just like the legends say.

Rival Squirrel Pirate Crew

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Redge

Wait, Captain Matey, Jonathan, Rose, look! There are already creatures on this island.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Ah, so there are.

Jonathan

They look like squirrels.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Not just any old squirrels. They be pirates like us.

Redge

Another pirate crew? Do you think they're searching for the golden peanut?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Uh likely so.

Redge

Well, this just got even more exciting.

Jonathan

Do you know them, Captain Matey?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye, I know them. That's be Captain Greytail and his first mate Pip Squeak over there. And their legendary crew, fearsome pirates they be.

Jonathan

F Fearsome? Aye. If they be looking for the golden peanut, you can be sure they'll find it.

Redge

Wait, let's hide behind these palm trees and listen. Maybe we'll hear some pirate secrets.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Oh like an old sneak around, eh? I love it.

Redge

Exactly like that.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

You know, one time, Rose'll remember, Me crew and I were searching for the eye patch of an old captain named Bronzebeak, and we also did a sneak around. You see,

Jonathan

Redge, Captain, they're talking.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Oh right

Captain Graytail

Nah, Pipsqueak. How's the digging coming along?

Pipsqueak

Well, Captain Sir, we've been digging for hours, but no luck. Kinda like when we stored up the acorns last winter Ah yes.

Captain Graytail

The crew did have a hard time finding that stash again.

Pipsqueak

Right oh, Captain Sir. I even told them to make a map.

Captain Graytail

So we are useless without a map. But I know it's here somewhere. The golden peanut! After all these years sailing the seas and climbing the trees, we've finally sniffed out its trail.

Pipsqueak

Yes, Captain Sir, it has to be here. The lighthouse keeper Pinky Promised.

Captain Graytail

And everyone knows there's nothing more sacred to a squirrel pirate than a pinky promise.

Pipsqueak

Absolutely, Captain, sir.

Captain Graytail

Ah, never fear. We'll find it, Pip. You wait and see. And we will be the strongest and most glorious pirates to sail the fantasea once we have it in our grasp.

Pipsqueak

Right oh

Captain Graytail

all other pirates will retreat when they see our sails flying high, for we will be the one and only crew to have the golden peanut ha

Pipsqueak

Yes But Captain, sir,

Captain Graytail

uh what's that, Pip?

Pipsqueak

We what uh what does the golden peanut do?

Jonathan

Well uh I mean it's uh Well of course it uh I don't know. But we will know as soon as we find it.

Redge

They want to keep the golden peanut all to themselves. How rude!

Captain Edgarrr Matey

We're the ones with the map. They can't find it without us.

Jonathan

They seem pretty set on it, though.

Redge

Gasp! What if they steal the map?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Oh you're right. We just need to find the treasure first. Rose, lead the way.

Rose the Raven

Aye aye, Captain. It looks like we just need to head north on this trail until it curves around these trees here, and then we have

X Marks the Spot

Rose the Raven

to cross them.

Redge

Rose, you did it! You found the golden peanut! Or at least, uh it must be buried under the sand here, right?

Jonathan

It does look like there are some markings in the stone.

Rose the Raven

Yes, that's the Corvid code!

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Yrrrr That must be it then! X marks the spot.

Rose the Raven

Well, it does say, More treasure for thee awaits when the golden peanut is in our grasp. I think.

Redge

More treasure?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Yo ho! What are you waiting for? Let's start digging

Redge

wonderful

Rose the Raven

Shiny

Captain Edgarrr Matey

I can't believe we finally found it The golden peanut

Rose the Raven

Still can't tell what it does.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

But isn't it beautiful?

Captain Graytail

Well, well, well what have we here? A crew of crows come to take my treasure.

Redge

Oh no, they found us!

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye And do me eyes deceive me? Or is that a crew of squirrels here to take my treasure?

Captain Graytail

Hand over the golden peanut, Captain Matey. We found this lagoon first.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Are you joking? Make Crew and I found the map and the golden peanut first. It's ours.

Pipsqueak

Oh I knew we should have had a map.

Rose the Raven

Um everyone?

Captain Graytail

Well there's only one way to settle this then, isn't there?

Redge

Uh oh

Jonathan

this doesn't sound good.

Rose the Raven

Uh you guys?

Pirate Sword Fight

Rose the Raven

Captain Edgarrr Matey

You're right, ain't ya? We're pirates after all. There's only one way to settle this score.

Rose the Raven

I uh I think we have to

Captain Graytail

duel

Rose the Raven

What? No.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Draw your sword and face me like a true pirate captain.

Captain Graytail

En guard. Ha ha you try it.

Rose the Raven

Redge, Jonathan, we have to stop them. I know how to make the golden peanut work.

Jonathan

All right, Rose, we will help, but how do we stop this?

Captain Graytail

I'm the best pirate in the land.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

No, I'm the best pirate in the land.

Captain Graytail

No me!

Captain Edgarrr Matey

No me!

Redge

Wait! I have an idea. Lift me up so I'm taller, Jonathan. I have to shout.

Jonathan

You got it.

Redge

Here we go. Oi! Captain Greytail! Captain Matey! I demand a parlay!

Captain Graytail

Huh?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

What?

Redge

That's right. I demand a parlay. In Pirate Code, that means we have to talk this out instead of fight. You have to be honorable and follow the pirate code.

Captain Graytail

I suppose the lad's right. We have no choice but to parlay.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

I suppose so.

Rose the Raven

I think it's the only way to understand how the golden peanut works.

Captain Graytail

What do you mean?

Rose the Raven

Well, the Corvid code that's on the stone says More treasure for thee awaits when the golden peanut

Captain Edgarrr Matey

is in our grasp. Yes, you shared this.

Rose the Raven

But there's more. I didn't notice it before. It roughly translates to More Treasure for Thee awaits when the golden peanut is in our grasp, a wondrous bounty will bloom when together we clasp.

Jonathan

So both crews have to hold it?

Rose the Raven

I think so.

Working Together

Rose the Raven

Redge

We have to work together. The opposite of a duel.

Captain Graytail

Work together? Well I never

Redge

We've come all this way to see the treasure. Aren't you a little bit curious?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Reginald, you're right. I'd be willing to try it if my fellow captain is willing.

Captain Graytail

I suppose. It can't hurt.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye, that's the spirit. All right, we're ready.

Rose the Raven

Captain Greytail, you take this side, and Captain Matey, you take this side.

Redge

It's glowing!

Jonathan

It's working

Captain Graytail

It's broken apart.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Oh no! And the peanut has fallen to the ground.

Captain Graytail

Were you just tricking us all along?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Don't be foolish, my boy.

Rose the Raven

Wait, look! It planted itself into the ground and

Redge

there are sprouts sprouting

Jonathan

And they're all so

All

shiny.

Rose the Raven

Working together to split the golden peanut is growing an entire field of golden peanuts.

Pipsqueak

More than the eyes can see

Redge

and more than enough bounty to go around.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Captain Graytail

It is so beautiful.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Rose, you're a true genius, my friend. Thank you for being the best navigator a captain could ask for, and for always showing us the way.

Rose the Raven

Aye aye, Captain.

Redge

What a beautiful shining field of treasures growing right before our eyes.

Jonathan

What should we do while we wait for them to grow?

Captain Graytail

An excellent question.

Captain Edgarrr Matey

Aye, well, mehearties, there is one other pirate law that all pirates must follow after a successful hunt for treasure.

Redge

What's that, Captain Matey?

Captain Edgarrr Matey

You are required by pirate law to enjoy a little song and dance.

Redge

Aye aye, Captain.

All

Aye Ay Ay.
