Hey guys, and welcome back to another episode of your Brain's Coach podcast. My name is Angela Shurina, I'm your host, I'm your Brain's Coach, and it is my job here to bring to you, share with you, learn with you best, well-researched, cutting-edge, most interesting, fascinating and definitely applicable to your life brain-body tools so you could take better control of your thoughts, of your emotions and, most importantly, your actions, to become more of a creator of your own life experience versus just an observer, right? So here we are all about taking a more active part in creating the life experience that we'd like to be living more of, and this is as simple as that. You know, guys, this morning I realized why creating something first thing in the morning feels so good and why it leaves me feeling so much more empowered for the rest of the day. Because, if you think about that, when we create something whether that's a piece of podcast, a piece of writing or maybe even breakfast and making your bed you are taking action, you are taking control of things, you are shaping and changing something and, most importantly, shift from being in the space where you can't control a lot of things, like most of life is, to the place where you can have agency, where you can have more control, where you can create different outcomes, different from the ones that could have been there if you didn't take that action. A simple act of changing your environment, of reshaping life, puts you automatically in this sphere or circle of control where you can exercise again your agency, your creator's muscle, and that actually feels not just empowering but also calming and motivating.

So if there is a day or a morning when you wake up and you don't feel like you have a lot of say in your life Like, to be honest, for the past couple of days that's how I've been feeling, and a little bit more about that in a couple of minutes. But whenever you wake up not feeling like you have a lot of say in your future, like maybe frustrated with the goals that you haven't reached yet, the results that you were not able to create yet, if you ever wake up like that, don't think about that much, but instead do something with it. Create something, whether that's a piece of writing, whether that's a piece of podcast, whether that's again your breakfast, your bed get out there and create something that wouldn't be there without you taking action and by exercising your action muscle, you realize that you do have some control Maybe not all of it, and there are other people and there is the world which is unpredictable, which is unpredictable and which will go not according to anyone's plan, but you do still have quite a lot of control, especially of your own thoughts, of your emotions, the effort that you put into taking action and the things that you create. So that's why I believe I absolutely love having a couple of hours of creation every single morning, because the rest of the day feels so much more empowering, like I have a say in how my day is going to go and what's going to happen in the world around me. By creating something, you create this feeling. Just try it out for the next I don't know day, a week, month, a year. Create first thing in the morning and see how you feel for the rest of the day. Guys, today we're talking about not setting goals but instead trying out something better.

Speaker 1

You know, for the past few days I've had a mixed bag of feelings. I felt good about things that I have accomplished this year, but also felt frustrated with all the things that left undone the imperfect quote, unquote pieces of my life. Ever felt this way, like you're happy, there are these things that you've done and created and you're kind of proud of, but also you realize how, in the big picture of things, it's kind of small and might be not significant to a lot of people. And also you have all these other things that you haven't accomplished yet and you hoped for so much more but it didn't happen for one reason or the other. Your own actions, and then the world a whole bag of things. Have you ever felt this way? And for the first time in my life I think my entire life even setting goals and envisioning the future something that I've loved, I've always loved felt like too much stress, like I don't want to set any goals. I just don't want to think. I don't know if you ever felt like this, but that's been something new that I've experienced.

Speaker 1

And then I realized listening to people wiser than myself check out the latest episode on the Diary of CEO podcast with Dr Martha Beck and I realized that I've been focusing on the wrong thing. Instead of joy and excitement about the journey ahead, I felt stressed and pressured, and the podcast gave me an idea why that might be, and it gave me an idea for a simple but a transformative question that I knew of, but you know we forget. Human brain is that machine that sometimes just grabs something and gets focused on things like things we haven't done, or things that haven't worked, or things that are not that great right now in our lives, things we wish were different, and so the brain starts focusing on that and it's like almost iron grasp on you and sometimes it is hard to shift that focus. But what I notice is the right kind of questions that I'm thinking of putting on my wall, to be honest, will shift you into this different state that is also always available right there, not behind any wall, but right there, and the question helps you. I'm also reading this book, a More Beautiful Question about the power of questioning and inquiry to open up our minds to new ideas and new states and new actions. So back to the podcast and the idea of the question Simple question helped me to shift my state from this overwhelming stress about the future and anxiety, one might say to back to joy and wanting to take action and embrace the future and co-create that future.

Speaker 1

So what is the question? What do I want to create? Not what do I need to achieve and goals I haven't achieved yet, or what do I need or how do I get there somewhere, right, but what do I want to create more of in my life? Rather than obsessing over my endless to-do list things I can't control I decided to shift my focus through this question on creation, which happens to be 100% in my control. What do I want to create more of in my life, in my relationships, in my business, in my health? And then the answers started to flood my head and it felt expanding, abundant, and it felt so good. I felt so good about the future and every upcoming day. I want to create more wealth and abundance, more value, service and impact, more kindness, love and connection. And when it comes to fitness and health, I want to create more vibrancy, more energy and more vitality. Like I'm blessed to have created quite a lot, but I want to create more.

Speaker 1

Like I want to expand, I want to grow, and when we feel that dissatisfaction isn't that all of us want to do Change, grow, expand I feel like that's the nature of the universe which we are a part of, and sometimes, again, the world outside can feel constricting instead and overwhelming. But if we just remember that the underlying desire, so to speak, of all of us and, I believe, of all life, is that expansion and growth and co-creation. Then we can alleviate the stress and anxiety and pressure and instead feel the flow of life again, the flow of the universe that goes through everything in our world. So again the question especially if you are not someone who is used to setting goals and you find them very, maybe overwhelming or maybe not really working for you for one reason or the other, or not helping you, then ask yourself that. Or maybe limiting also, because once you set a goal, once you set a number, it starts feeling like now I have to kind of just constrain myself to being focused on that.

Speaker 1

So if, for all these reasons and many more, you find goals not working for you, then ask yourself this question instead what I want to create more of in my life, in all these different areas, in your relationships and health and business and fitness and all the I don't know other areas that you might think of. So what I want to create more of? And then another question naturally follows what behaviors, habits and systems do I need to create to make that happen? Because If there is anything that I've learned very clearly in my life and in my coaching career as well, working with all of my clients is that without action, nothing changes. Now, obviously, action has to come from your thoughts and your feelings and emotions and your experiences, but without you actually taking different actions, there is not going to be any change. Actions there is not going to be any change. You might be sitting and meditating and manifesting things till the end of times, but if actions do not follow, nothing will ever change.

Speaker 1

So, what I want to create more of and what behaviors, habits and systems do I need to create to make that happen? And, guys, this shift in focus from results to creating, from things outside of my control to the ones within, has brought back my excitement about the year I had. I didn't have to hit any number, but I do want to create more of wealth and abundance, more value, service and impact, more kindness, love and connection, more vibrancy, energy and vitality. And so what I need to do to create this more of and I'll leave you with this question, guys what do you want to create more of in 2025? And what actions aren't you doing yet that will help you create it? This is some powerful questions if you want to step into the role of the creator of your own life fuller. If you perhaps are a little bit tired of just watching it and want to co-create that, this is some great couple of questions that will help you start doing that and that's what I wanted to share with you today.

Speaker 1

Monday, that's what I'm doing the recording December 23rd just a few days till 2025. You probably have a little bit more time or will have at some point a few moments to think about the year ahead and what you want to create more of and how you're going to go about doing that. Hope this question you find useful. Please do share it, this podcast episode, with at least one other person, but maybe your whole family, your circle of friends. So all of us as a collective, think about this powerful question, think about how much actually leverage we have in co-creation and help people around you to create more of the life experience that they want to live. Thank you again for your attention, for listening, for staying curious, learning and wanting to make this world better for yourself and people around you. Thank you so much. Have an amazing day, spend a few minutes answering this beautiful question what I want to create more of in my life and, till next time, keep asking the right questions.
