Hey guys, and welcome back to another episode of your Brains Coach podcast. My name is Angela Shurina, I'm your host, I'm your Brains Coach, and we are here to figure out how to unlock next level you, how to create a path that your future self will thank you for, will be proud of. We are here to figure out how to master our emotions, our thoughts and, most importantly, our actions. So every day, we get to unlock another layer of your potential, of your genius, of your talent, getting closer and closer to the version of you that you were designed to become from the day you were born, probably before that. You are, when you are born, that seed of potential, kind of like a seed of a tree or a plant. This small seed has everything it needs to flourish into this magnificent, magnificent tree. And you're just like that when you are born. You're that seed, an environment and a part of human condition. Your actions will define what kind of tree you're going to grow into, and it's so magical that we human beings have this capacity to choose our environment, to choose the nourishment whether that's from other people or things we do, to choose how, what kind of tree we're going to grow into.
Speaker 1I want to share with you a quote that keeps playing on repeat in my mind over and over and over again, especially on the days in the moments when I feel like I need more motivation, I need an extra push, I need energy like I'm getting low on something in my mind to keep going when the rest of the people tell you, like, why are you doing this? You're not getting, seems to be not getting it. Are you crazy? Like you need to get a job. You know all these conversations. That's why I prefer to shut up more often than not, but the quote that keep me going and keep me putting in the effort First. The quote is if you want to make tomorrow a masterpiece, the only way to make tomorrow a masterpiece is to master today. The only way to make tomorrow a masterpiece is to master today. Guys, this is fundamental in life, fundamental truth. You want to understand.
Speaker 1If you want something in the future, you don't have the work, the rent, the payment is today, and I often talk to my parents and what I found is they don't understand this idea. They're so used to this. Well, actually, I don't know why they don't understand it, because when you go to work, you also work for a certain period of time and then you get paid. I guess in their mind, the pay is guaranteed, whereas in your business, when you're working on the things that are defined by you, and nobody guarantees you a pay, but you knowing that you're going to make it happen. So the difference is upfront. You got to invest in your self-development. You got to invest in skill acquisition. You got to invest in things like I don't know websites, artificial intelligence, help and newsletters and other people's work to help you build what you have. So you got to invest upfront and upfront and upfront, not really having any guarantee that will ever pay off and still doing that, but knowing that you will figure it out if you don't quit. You have the capacity to do just that, and so this quote just reminds me of that.
Speaker 1If you want to make tomorrow a masterpiece, the only way to make tomorrow a masterpiece is to master today. So if you have a version of you that you see yourself being in the future, the payment for that is it on Monday, next month, next season, it's today. Or you might equally say to yourself you know, that is not that important and I'm choosing to do something else which has nothing to do, which is not the investment into the future that I say I want. I gave this talk at Digital Diva Summit at Innovation City in Cape Town, and the talk was about how to turn goals into real-life accomplishments, goals, dreams, into real life accomplishment, and one of the three points that I made was being ready to pay the price for the price in advance, not seeing and having no guarantees of ever getting the price. You've got to match the price with the price and be ready to pay it and more for the price you say you want, and usually we underestimate the price that is needed. So, anyhow, if you want to make tomorrow a masterpiece, the only way is to make is to master it today. So put in the work. That's first. The second thing I wanted to share I went to the gym, as usually today my happy place and all the way in I saw our manager there, carmen. She's a good friend of mine and she shared that she signed up for another race and she's like you know, I just feel like I need to have some goal and I listened to her and I'm like but that's exactly it. You do need to have goal, to put in more effort.
Speaker 1Today we're talking about goals and unlocking more of your potential. We're always talking about more of your potential, but today we're talking about how certain mindsets, certain things you do in your brain, like goal setting, are fundamental to unlocking the next version of you, fundamental to unlocking resources that you need to invest into your life to become a greater version of yourself. Do you know there is this saying also that without a vision, people perish. Yes, it also talks about the same idea. So let me read you something from Naturecom Nature, one of the leading scientific magazines that publishes really well-done research and great scientists. So from Nature. Furthermore, studies have shown that individuals combine expectations of reward and efficacy to determine the amount of effort they invest in tasks, highlighting the brain's role in resource allocation based on anticipated outcomes. What it means is you're going to invest in your goal, in your dream, rewards and effort. Well, only if you understand what that reward, that goal is and if you believe that you can actually make it.
Speaker 1Your brain is the best economist. I always say this. It always thinks like what is the reward and what are the resources I have, and is the reward worth? What are the resources I have and is the reward worth it? And do I have resources, and the reason why your brain does that is to make sure you survive and keep going. Your brain always does this mathematics without telling you about it. I feel like a side note. I feel like you talk to people too much. You know, this morning I said to myself maybe I do talk to people too much, but then I remember my best ideas, solutions and energy come from conversations. Our greatest ideas to serve the world are sparked by people around us, and now by AI agents as well, who we start talking to more and more.
Speaker 1So the power of goals. Again back to Carmen manager at my gym, I always feel like I need a goal to get me going. That's how the brain works, guys. It's wired to pursue goals. Rewards, resources. A goal is the promise of a reward. That's it's all gonna sum up to something.
Speaker 1Without one, why push harder? Why invest time and effort and money? Like why? The most inspiring human achievements come from clarity of purpose. Elon Musk love him or hate him, but he's getting people to Mars, saving the planet. That's what drives him. It's a clarity of purpose of why.
Speaker 1What is it all for? When you lack a goal, you get stuck. You waste time, money and effort to just feel like you're doing something. Most ways and that's coming from personal and professional experience, guys Most ways whether that's energy, money or focus comes from not knowing what truly matters. What is it you're going after?
Speaker 1What is it all for, dear listener? A simple hack, guys, to transform your life. If you want to boost motivation, build resilience and strength, strengthen your discipline, stop wasting time and money, stop wasting yourself, grow, improve and move forward. Set a goal. Never start your day without one Commit to something, anything. That's why races and marathons and challenges different physical challenges are so popular. They give us a direction. They help us prioritize energy, time and resources, like my entrepreneur marathon and 100 day, no days off challenge. Today is day 50.
Speaker 1And you know what I learned how to prioritize? Because, like, this is the goal and what I'm trying to achieve is progress and breakthrough in my business, and that is why I say no to different adventures, invitations, etc. And I say yes to working another day, and that is why I say no, more than ever, to any late nights and I say yes to going to bed at 8 pm to wake up at 4, 4.30, to get going again in my best time, in my best energy. And that's only because I have this challenge, because I have this goal, because I understand what's it all for. I prioritize, I optimize, I allocate resources. Using scientific talk, that's what the brain is designed to do. Again, back to this quote. Furthermore, studies have shown that individuals, all individuals, combine expectations, a reward your goal and efficacy, your belief in getting shit done to determine the amount of effort they invest in tasks, highlighting the brain's role in resource allocation based on anticipated outcomes.
Speaker 1Or your goal. Optimization without prioritization? Which goals are going to give you equals anxiety? Optimization with a clear purpose? That feels like a meaningful investment in your future self, in your better life.
Speaker 1So, what are you working on? What are you working on? On the other side of my microphone, you, you. What are you working on today? The other side of my own microphone, you, you. What are you working on today? What's the goal? Do you have at least one clear goal that you're working on today?
Speaker 1And also, if you lead a team, a family, a group of people, if you influence, want to influence someone, you must make sure that they have clear goals every day. They gotta have a clear center of the direction every moment of the day. There has to be a system, set of practices, tools in place to ensure this. You know, people get a lot of results from coaching, but Mostly because of this, they now have a goal, and the second part of it is accountability, and now somebody else is following up with them and actually also providing tools etc. But just this connection, ongoing, everyday connection to the goal. That's where a huge benefit and results from coaching come from Someone's on your back and they remind you every day what's the goal, what's the focus, where are you going with this, and you get back to working on that thing, whereas if you're just by yourself, you're like wake up, okay, I got to do this, this and this, but what is it all for?
Speaker 1Who is asking you this If nobody, I don't know. Set up an alarm, ask an AI to send you an email, like mine does, sending me emails with reminders every day what I got to do and why it's important, right, set those up, set this up for your team, for the company. There is technology, super easy, super cheap or free and you can do it. You can make people think about their goals first thing in the morning or when they start their workday. So that's for the leader in you. If you lead a team, an organization or hydrating here, team organization, family you lead yourself. Make sure that you and they have clear goals every day, every moment of the day. I would go even further. And that's it for today, guys. Without a vision, people perish, and if you want to make tomorrow a masterpiece, you gotta master today. Still need to work on that quote.
Speaker 1Guys, I hope you found this podcast useful and it reminded you to look into your goals, the clarity of those goals, so you have a clear sense of direction for prioritization and optimization allocation of energy, money, your mental resources, your focus, attention, everything.
