Hello, I am Joshua P. Warren, and this is a special report for those of you who are big fans and supporters of the show Strange Things to give you sort of a behind-the-scenes update on how things are going, because so many of you have been listening to me for over three years on Joshua P. Warren Daily, and it's been interesting for you to see this transition. So I want to tell you what new things have emerged and what's coming up in the future. For one thing, the response to this new podcast, Strange Things, has been, I mean, incredibly overwhelmingly positive. And I know a lot of people were nervous about that, understandably, because when I finally revealed what was going on, I got messages from people who were concerned, like, oh, you're getting in bed with a big corporation, you know, they're they're going to control what you say and all that. And it turns out every single one of those people are delighted with the show because, as I told you, I would have never agreed to do this new show if I weren't working with people that I've known for a long, long time and that I trust. And they assured me that I would have permission to do whatever I want with the show and talk about whatever I want, and that has been granted to me. I've been given that freedom. And so, you know, that that's why so far everybody can sense the authenticity and say, all right, well, Josh wasn't BSing, you know, this is actually um what he was claiming it would be. It's got good substance. And you know what? Having the support of the Coast to Coast AM brand, it takes the show to a new level. I you know, I can't help but just stop for a minute and reflect on the fact that this year, Carville, uh, which is the the wooden alien statue that I got from Art Bell, for the first time ever, made it into my living room. And here's why that's significant. I'm sure you probably already know, unless you're brand new to the work that I'm doing, and a lot of brand new people are discovering me and my work right now because of strange things. But long story short, you know, many years ago there was a woodcarver who was a this really sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale, doesn't it? Once upon a time, a woodcarver who loved to listen to talk radio. Uh it's but it's true, uh, a guy who was a big fan of talk radio would listen to Rush Limbaugh every day as he worked. And he basically created this alien statue. And I know that sounds weird, and you're like, huh, what's the connection between Art Bell and Aliens? Well, the clue is in the name, or excuse me, what's the what's the what's the connection between Rush Limbaugh and aliens? Well, the clue is in the name Carville. So if you don't know that, all you have to do is go to artbellalien.com and the whole story is there, artbellalien.com. So he carved this alien and dropped it off at Rush Limbaugh's studio in New York. Okay, this is we're talking about the number one rated talk program in the country, if not the world. And Carville the Alien sat there in Rush Limbaugh's studio for three years. I mean, as Limbaugh was broadcasting to millions of people, you know, and it doesn't matter whether or not you agree with his political point of view. I mean, that's a pretty significant thing to have in your studio. That's why Art Bell once visited Rush Limbaugh's studio in New York during that time period, and he was shocked to walk in and see this alien statue and got a big kick out of it, and somehow or other ended up leaving a $5 bill and a cigarette in the statue's hand. Uh, you'll see Art say that on camera if you go to artbellalien.com. And uh and then so one day, uh Art is at this conference, and surprise, Rush Limbaugh has decided to pass along this gift and give it to Art. And Art is just overcome with joy, and he it's the most thrilling moment he's probably ever had on stage. And so then this alien statue is in Art Bell's studio for years and years as he's broadcasting all of these classic Coast to Coast AM shows overnight. You can see, you know, a webcam pic of him sitting there in his studio next to Carville. And then finally, due to very strange circumstances, when, according to his family, this statue began to come to life at night and run around the house, uh, he he had to let it go. And so I got it from art, and even though I have had it all these years, it's been on display in my museum in Asheville, North Carolina. But because my museum uh had to close down due to flooding and a lot of issues about the renovation of the old building it was in, I had all my stuff shipped here to Las Vegas, where I'm based at right now. And I could have put Carville the Alien in storage, but I was like, nah, he's coming into the living room. And so earlier this year, Carville came into my living room. This is a five-foot-tall, like a hundred and some pound wooden alien statue with an incredible history, and wouldn't you know it several months after he comes into my living room, I get the offer to be a host for the brand new iHeartRadio and Coast to Coast AM Paranormal Podcast Network. And even though I have I've worked on many, many projects for a long time, many, many years, with the guys at Coast to Coast AM, uh producer Tom Danheiser and George Norrie and Lisa Lyon and everybody, um, even though I've done that all this time, I mean, I've either been a correspondent or a guest. This is the first time I've ever been able to host under the Coast to Coast AM banner. And don't you think that that's just really a bit too much for coincidence that a talk radio fan loved talk radio so much that he carved this statue, and that statue was in Rush Limbaugh's studio for years, and then it was in Art Bell's studio for years, the guy who created Coast to Coast A.m. And then I get it in my living room, and a few months later, boom, now I am uh a host on the Coast to Coast AM Paranormal Podcast Network. There, this is a charmed statue. So I know some of you out there who have ambitions to be in the hosting business say, How much, Joshua? I've got my checkbook ready. Well, you know what? I I have to say, I understand, but I'm sorry. I think you're gonna have to wait for me to die before you get Carville. He is definitely a good luck charm. So that's just one of those odd things uh about you know a connection behind the scenes that I can't get out of my my mind. You know, every time I see Carville there and and he I put the $5 bill and the cigarette back in his hand, by the way. I did that, and I think he that makes him very happy. So anyway, listen, this new show, Strange Things, as I you now that you've heard it, you can see why I was having some difficulty explaining to you how that this was going to be a different kind of show, which sounds scary to some people who get used to a certain style. I I get it, but different in a good way, you know, like it's it it's it's almost like um it's just a different style of presentation. You know, when I do Joshua P. Warren Daily, uh like just like I'm doing right now, you know, it's like when I would host Joshua P. Warren Daily, and you know, I can't host another podcast anymore. So um for the time being, I have all I do exclusively is strange things. But I can come on and give you a special report once in a while, and that's what I'm doing here. And so basically, um when I am doing something like Joshua P. Warren Daily, it's me jumping in front of a microphone and hitting the record button, and it's just stream of consciousness. I'm just talking as long as I want to talk, and then I hit the stop button, and then I can go upload, boom, and it's out there, and that's it. You know, I don't have any music, there's no production work involved in it, there's no particular timing that I have to adhere to, none of that stuff. So it's a stream of consciousness that I've been doing. But this show, Strange Things, is it is a focused presentation that is it's very honed, and I mean it's it's planned out in a very particular way by me in order to get uh you know a certain set of points across about particular subjects, and it moves pretty darn fast. And and having you know music and and all that kind of extra stuff, it adds a lot of energy to it. Uh, it's more of a traditional type of podcast, you know, it sounds much more polished. You can tell I've upgraded all my equipment and all that. Um, but here's something that you might find surprising. Strange things. You might think, okay, well, if you try to imagine what it's like to make that show, you might envision me being in a studio with like a board op and a producer and an engineer, and we're downloading music and all this kind of. Let me tell you, this is a one-man show from start to finish. Basically, I have my own little studio, and when I produce Strange Things, there is not one other human being involved in the studio. Okay. I I composed all the bumper music that you hear when you listen to Strange Things, with the exception of one piece that I loved, and I said, I've got to have that in there. Uh, I've been using as the outro for segment one a piece by my friend John E. L. Tenney that he composed. It's called A Dream of Richard, based upon this really weird ass dream he had about Richard Shaver, who used to write all these like sci-fi stories for uh amazing stories, and uh he was into hollow earth and all that kind of thing. So I'll tell you more about that, I'm sure, on a future podcast. But that piece, John gave me permission to use that. It's great outro. And other than that, though, every other piece of music I composed as all the bumper music, and it will it will probably always be that way. Uh in the in the beginning, when you hear uh Get Ready to Be Amazed by the Wizard of Weird, uh, that is my friend John Anderson, who is, if you are anywhere close to the radio business in western North Carolina, John Anderson is a living legend. I mean, the guy just recently retired from radio, so to speak, after being in the business for 40 years, and and he's still not that old of a guy, all right. Uh, and so now he's doing voice work, so I knew immediately, I had had to get John to do you know the opening introduction. But uh so I compose all the music and I sit down and I I basically I I I just put the whole thing together and hand them a finished product, and I say, here you go. And so the only thing that I have to be you know really careful about is technical stuff, you know, like what kind of formats that I use, and um uh making sure that the timing is just right, and and and make sure that if I'm gonna you know promote the network, I I say uh iHeartRadio instead of iHeartMedia or vice versa, and that kind of thing. Just little little stuff like that. And by the way, I know a lot of people don't care about the kind of details that I'm giving you right now, but that's why this is sort of a behind-the-scenes thing for those of you who do care. Um so I love the fact that you know I'm able to produce a 100% one-man product that sounds that great. You know, I mean, I listen to it, I can say, like, yeah, I'm very proud of that. It sounds like a very nice polished product, and I work really hard to make sure that uh it sounds that way. So that shows you the authenticity that you're getting when you listen to this. There's not some producer whispering in my ear what I can and cannot say and all that kind of stuff. I can't cuss, you know, but uh as I told you, uh, that's not a big deal. I don't usually cuss that much anyway. Uh okay, so now let's go on to some other things. I've made a few notes here that I wanted to touch on. For one thing, uh the show, of course, is owned by iHeart. I signed a contract with iHeart, and so they are the owners of Strange Things, but you can listen to it also through other platforms. You can listen to it through uh Apple, Stitcher, Spotify, and so it should be pretty easy for you to find. To make it even easier, if you go to Strangethingshow.com, I just created this page that has links to different streams because, like, for example, uh, there was one day when people were trying to go to the iHeart stream, and the iHeart website had a problem. And it was uh I don't know what it happened, it was just like you know, the website was down for a while, and so uh people got frustrated, and yet they could have gone to Apple or Stitcher or whatever and listened to listened to it there. So to make it easy for everybody, if you go to strangethingshow.com, you'll find a variety of different links there to the show. And if you are on one of these platforms and you want to find the show, you should just be able to type in Coast to Coast AM and it will pop up, probably along with uh uh Sandra Champlain, who does um her show about the afterlife, and then of course there are usually some best of Coast to Coast AM shows that appear on these, and so um just type in Coast to Coast A.m. and it it should come up there because uh even though everybody knows me as Joshua P. Warren, uh some of the people, the marketing people in New York apparently just put me into the system as Josh Warren, and so that has made it a little more difficult for some people to find me. And which, by the way, if you don't know this story, when I it just so happens, just my luck, that when I was in school, you know, I started writing and publishing stuff, both newspaper articles for the like the professional uh you know, city like regional paper, uh as well as books. When I was just a teenager, and during that period of time, in an adjoining school district, the uh Inca district, there was another guy named Joshua Warren, who was making some waves because he was a very talented artist. And so people started to confuse the two of us, and that's why I started using the P, Joshua P. Warren, um, and that would help to you know differentiate me from him. And now it turns out that currently there's still, and and and by the way, that Joshua Warren, he ended up living a very interesting life. He moved to Asia and he we kind of stayed in touch, we kind of got to know each other, and he was a cool guy, but fortunately, um he he didn't really pursue his art, so there's there's no not much confusion there anymore. But now there is this actor named Josh Warren, and so if you go to Wikipedia, for example, and type in Josh Warren, it's gonna bring him up. So that's why it's important for me to always stress Joshua P. Warren because that makes it easier for people to find me specifically. So keep that in mind if you're doing a search. You might want to try Josh Warren if Joshua P. Warren doesn't work, if that's what you're searching for. Uh, something else that has been annoying for some people. Um, most of you, the vast majority of people who listen to the podcast stream it. But there is a tiny fraction of people out there who like to go to a podcast and hit a download button and download the whole thing and save it and listen to it that way. And unfortunately, iHeart does not have a little download button like that where you can go and punch it and download it, and it's that simple and easy and over with. Uh, I don't know why that is. I honestly do not know. I don't know if it's if it's like a bandwidth issue, or I don't know what their explanation is for why they they don't have that, but they just have everything available streaming. That's how it's set up. But there is a page on the iHeart website that tells you how you can listen to it, uh, their iHeart podcast offline. And I haven't tried this out. You've got to have their app, I believe. But I did put a link there for you also at StrangethingsShow.com, so you'll be able to click that and um and figure out what your options are if you prefer to listen offline and you know, let's say you're gonna take a trip or something like that. But I'm not sure exactly how that works. I haven't had time to experiment with that. Uh, and and frankly, if you just get online and you start searching around for uh programs and websites out there that you can use to download a stream, they exist. So if it's that important to you, I mean you can figure it out or get get a buddy to do it for you. But the streaming works for for just about everybody. Um, but you know, again, the here's the the main thing that I like about this. Not only is it creatively for me, it's it takes it's very time consuming, okay, to to do all the extra work. It's a lot easier for me to just have no music and do a recording and stop it and upload it and then I'm done. That's a lot easier. The production time that I'm putting in is so time consuming that uh at some point I may actually hire somebody to to help me do some post processing and some of the stuff that I'm doing myself right now, after you know, they can listen and I'll I'll have given them some good examples. Um but the main thing I like is that aside from the sort of new creative energy of presenting subject matter this way, even if it's stuff that you've heard about before, taking it and repackaging it in a different way and and delivering it with a different you know intensity at a different pace and all that. Um that's fun, but uh the freedom that they've given me is paramount. And again, you know, I talk to producer Tom Danheiser frequently. You know, we talk multiple times throughout the week, we're always emailing and texting and and you know having discussions about the evolution of the podcasting network in general. And right now they are taking applications from other people who are interested in being a part of the new Coast to Coast AM paranormal podcast network. Um so it's gonna get really, really big. And so it's quite an honor to be one of the first people there at the very beginning of all this. Uh so the freedom is great. Another thing I really love is that the air dates are certain. Uh they tell me that the plan is right now that every Friday at 9 a.m. Pacific time, that's California time, West Coast time here in the United States, every Friday at 9 a.m. a new show will come out. So you can count on that. And if you follow the show or subscribe to it, uh, however you do it there, especially if you do it through iHeart, uh, they should send you a notification to your phone. If you listen on your phone, they'll say, Hey, look, it's the the the new strange things is out. Uh and and that's great that people can rely on that and they have something to look forward to. That that I mean that that you'd be surprised what that does when it comes to building up an audience, being able to say. Every Friday, 9 o'clock, boom, you know, get ready. It's going to be there. So that's really cool. So here are some things that are awkward for me, though. I come from this background of doing live radio. You know, I started out uh hosting as a fill-in host on a drive time show, political drive time show called Take a Stand many, many years ago. And um on that program, I mean, that that's like one of those deals where you sit down at three o'clock in the afternoon and you say something controversial and open up the phone lines and then you just battle your way through it for the next three hours. And then from there, I went into Speaking of Strange, which was a live radio show on Saturday nights for uh for a long, long time until we finally started having to pre-record some of those when I was in Puerto Rico. But my my roots in broadcasting are live. But even when I would pre-record a show like Speaking of Strange, we'd record it maybe a few days before it would come out. This show, however, is different because uh I when I record a show, it has to go through this big process now, where it goes from me to the folks at Premiere in California, and then they send it to some people in New York, and the marketing is done, and like there are all these stages involved. And so basically, I could I can record something that won't come out for like another two or three weeks, and that's kind of awkward for me, um, because I'm just not used to recording something that's like a grenade, it's like you you record it and throw it, and you're just waiting for it to go off. That's kind of weird. Uh I'm I don't think I'll ever really get used to to that. Um it also is kind of a fun thing, though, to be honest with you, uh, because it I feel like that I'm I'm kind of like Santa Claus, you know. I'm I I get I I'm I I've packaged this gift for you and I'm waiting for you to get to open it. Um and then also one other thing that this is just silly, I I guess, but you know, it's every every date when the show's supposed to come out, um, I'm always worried, like, what if they upload the wrong thing or something like that? And they never have. It's always it's been perfect. But I'm just kind of a control freak, I guess, when it comes to the podcast, and so I'm always kind of sweating. And it's it's like taking something that you've recorded and putting it into the hands of other people to release on your behalf uh is kind of nerve-wracking. I think you can understand that. So those are just little little you know things that I'm having to get used to. Uh, and again, I don't know if I'm ever going to get used to um putting out something that that's not released for for weeks in some cases, but you know, I agreed to do 52 of these new Strange Things shows, in other words, a year. And because you could listen to any of these pieces at any time. I mean, obviously they're coming out week after week, one per week. But because that you're not necessarily listening to the Christmas show at Christmas time and you know, that kind of thing. Um, I I'm viewing this as sort of being like a 52-hour audiobook. You know, I'm I've I'm dedicated to doing 52 of these, you know, time very time-consuming, highly produced, you know, like really intense, well-packaged pieces. And and yes, you can see how many positive adjectives I I am capable of using about myself if you if you force me into a corner. Um, but but no, seriously, I'm I'm I'm look now looking at it that way. Like this is almost like a 52-page or a 52-part audiobook. And then when those 52 parts are done, I mean, will I continue doing strange things in that way? If that's I mean, I don't know, because the problem with me is that um most podcasters are out there gathering information to share. You know, they're gatherers of things. Um for me, however, the podcasting is just the product of what I'm doing in the field, right? So, in other words, my top priority is getting out there and doing research, and then what I find gets to come out in the podcast. So it's kind of the opposite approach. So I can't take too much time away from that, uh, you know, being in the field and doing the research, at least not at this point in my life. I'm not ready to just retire and be like, well, I'm just the guy behind the microphone now, living the world through everybody else's eyes. No, for me, I have to have enough time to get out and do the research and experiments that I want to do, and then I bring that back and and and give you some quality. So the future of whether or not I continue to do things this way is going to just depend on um, I guess, you know, what the world's like in a year and uh just just how how time consuming it is. Like how is am I going to be able to streamline this process a lot by bringing in some production help and all that? I at this point, you know, I I don't want any help. I want to do everything myself. Um but I don't know. At least look, I'm just taking this for the first 52 for now. And so, you know, keep your subscription to Joshua P. Some people would not care about hearing uh this kind of behind the scenes production stuff that I'm giving you right now. But I think it's kind of like the extras on the DVD. Remember, remember those? The DVD or the Blu-ray? You buy it, like, oh, this has got the special extra bonus stuff. And sometimes it really sucked and was really disappointing. But if you if you genuinely like something, then um it is interesting to sort of pull back the curtain and and see how it's being made. So I'm providing you a little bit of that. And so to give you an example of how um different this is for me, uh it's like today, I'm recording this right now on the morning. I'm on the I'm in Vegas, so I'm on Pacific time. I'm recording this the morning of Friday the 13th of November 2020, which also just so happens to be the 114-year anniversary of the largest mass murder killing spree in my hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. It happened in 1906 called the Will Harris Murders. And this uh I it's just just an interesting side note for you. Uh I mean, Will Harris was an escaped prisoner who dragged into Asheville trying to find an old girlfriend, and when he couldn't find her, he got really pissed off and um got drunk and got a gun and decided to start shooting people. On the other hand, uh you don't have to be downtown, you can just listen to the stories, and you know, you can and especially now that you can jump on Google Earth and do Street View, you could pretty much give yourself your own virtual haunted ashealt tour. So keep that in mind. But I bring that up because I'm recording that uh I'm recording this here the morning of Friday the 13th of November, and so today, later today, episode four of Strange Things should be dropping, as they say, uh at 9 a.m. And see, this is an example of like I say should be. I I I guess it's just because uh everything has been perfect so far. Uh and that's you know, you that's kind of eerie. You're always like, man, as soon as I say everything's going well. But anyway, look, no, seriously, today, episode four is gonna be posting, and it should be Are Shape Shifting Immortals Real? Can you become one? And and some very spooky audio. And that's another thing I'll point out. When I write titles, I write them like that. They're very descriptive, and they're also almost schlocky, you know, they kind of remind me of these sensational um headlines that you might find in an old comic book or something like that. And uh the the marketing people, they are they don't use exactly what I wrote. They they take what I wrote and they turn it into something that's a little more, I guess, user-friendly for the average podcast person. And I would prefer for them to use exactly what I write, but I trust that they know what they're doing, because I'm sure what they're doing is they're saying, like, look, this thing has got to be consistent with all these different platforms, and these platforms have all these different requirements on how many characters you can have, and what and so I'm sure what they're doing is they're taking what I write, and they're like, Okay, this is good, but uh, we can't say all of this, so let's you know, let's let's put that. Um, but that's why it's cool, you know. At least when I promote it through my social media, I can give you my title for it. So today, episode four should be out. Again, are Shape Shifting Immortals Real Can You Become One and Spooky Audio? And let me just tell you something. The shows that you have heard so far, the strange things episodes that you have heard so far, have just been to get us rolling, to sort of introduce what this show is, both to those of you who know me and who follow my work, uh, to uh give you a sense of what it is, and for brand new people to help them understand what this podcast is all about. Because it seems pretty nebulous, right? Strange things. You say, Well, what is that? It'd be one thing if my show was called uh UFOs or or you know the the world of ghosts or uh Bigfoot's in the field or whatever, you know, it you you would know, but strange things, people are like, I don't know, uh let's check this out. And I think it if you're the if you're the type of person, like the right type of person, it's going to resonate with you pretty darn quickly. And so what I'm doing now has been a lot of like hitting some of the the stuff that I believe is good foundational stuff. Manifestation, talking about aliens, some talking about ghosts, some, we're getting into interdimensional shape-shifting stuff, and all but I'm telling you, we're picking up steam and went to chat, and that's why I say I feel kind of like Santa Claus. I've wrapped up the gift and I'm waiting for you because I know I know what's gonna happen. Let me tell you, I did an interview last night with some people who were traveling, they were on vacation. They they live in Washington State, they were visiting family members in Arizona, and they stopped, they they passed through Las Vegas on their way back home, and as they were heading back up out of Vegas, going north, they had a time warp experience that rocked their world. And they knew absolutely nothing about the Vegas time warp or any of that stuff until they got back home and they were trying to make sense of what the hell had happened to them. And actually, even before they got home, they were they were on their phones trying to figure out, and one of the first things they found was me talking about the Vegas interstate time anomaly, the Las Vegas time warp that I discovered back in 2018, and their jaws hit the floor, and they were like, What the so they were, I mean, there's they're still stunned. This just happened to them a couple nights ago. So they sent me an email, and I was like, Oh, yep, there they were at just the right place. Uh, yeah, that's the sounds sounds about right. So I interviewed them, and so far I have not posted a podcast, a strange things podcast with an interview. Well, I've got that one recorded, that's going to be on an upcoming show, uh, as well as a lot of other cool stuff. So I'm going to be doing more interviewing. My show is never going to be an interview-intensive show, though. Um, I think there's too much out there like that, where it's just like the whole show is an interview. And I prefer to just instead pro provide content, like give you a big presentation about something, and you know, do interviews once in a while, or maybe have a short interview here or there, but they have a really interesting story. But less oh god, let me listen to this. There is a lady who's a friend of mine, and she is an artist. Uh you've heard me talk about her before. I'm not gonna bring up her name at this particular point, but she lives here in Las Vegas, and she is into the most macabre stuff you can imagine. All right. And she is working right now on a doll that she is creating specifically intended to be a haunted doll. And this may actually end up being the world's most haunted doll. And I wish I could tell you more about what she's doing, but it makes my skin crawl. I'm not even sure I'm gonna touch this thing. I mean, I'm serious, I am not joking. And she's got most of her her the supplies in her workshop, in her studio, and she told me that as soon as this doll is is finished, I'm gonna be the first person to sit down with her and do an interview with her about this doll. And when you hear what she has created, um I swear to you, I am not exaggerating. This is it this is messed up, okay? This is messed up. So that is something to look forward to. I over the years, even though I have hosted radio, I've also bought radio ads. And they want an arm and a leg. And the reason is terrestrial radio is an expensive business. I mean, if you've ever been to a radio station, you know, there's a piece of property with a building, and there are people in that building who all have to get paid, and there's machinery everywhere, and there's electricity being pumped out of a big tower somewhere, and all these licensing fees have to be paid. It's an expensive business. And that's why advertising seems expensive. And then if you get hooked up with the salesperson that doesn't really understand your product, uh I mean, like, or or you can't get a package that's going to be big enough, I mean, it may just be money down the drain. You don't know. It's always risky. But when you advertise with podcasting, it's different. It's different. With podcasting, you can talk to a salesperson and you can get a really, really good deal. Okay, I'm talking of you can spend very little money because all those expenses are gone. You're not having to deal with the expenses of a terrestrial radio station pumping out wattage and having and needing all these permits and stuff. And furthermore, it's extremely targeted. Okay, you're you're you're hitting a niche that is going to be specific. It's not like that you're gonna advertise a wishing machine next to a barber shop at three o'clock, you know, in in the afternoon. It's like, no, if you have a product that you think is right for strange things, then you know the type of audience that you're gonna get. So it's a whole different ball game. So this is an opportunity for you to also advertise, and it's even cheaper right now because this is a brand new podcast.
