Nick Nack Goes to the Movies Pod S1E3

-Intro Jingle

-Welcome to the show

-We don’t even have time to welcome you, EMERGENCY PODCAST PRESS CONFERENCE RELEASE

-DC FANDOME just concluded and we have a ton of new trailers, concept art, and information to break down from all the big movies and what not, let’s get to it!

-overall take

-Honestly, this was a pretty cool format and way to engage fans, not every segment was something I was dying to see, but except for a random musical break, everything felt pretty solid and engaging, great fan service, even if there was a bit of cheddar, but they had to fill time.  And I like a bit of mozzarella

-Wonder Woman 1984

-Period Piece Fan’s (myself included rejoice)

-We got a whole new trailer and it did not disappoint

-New footage of Wonder Woman looks sensational, finally getting some real footage showing what Kristen Wiig looks like, and the transformation into  Cheetah, which looks way better than couch cough cats cough cough

-And it shows how this I guess friendship becomes a villain with cheetah and WW

-Also shows how Pedro Pascal's character fits into the story, how the villains may team up, and a bit of how Chris Pine is back. Every time I see him I wonder how they will ever explain that he is deff not around anymore because Justice league and BVS Dawn of Justice

-Also Perdo Pascal just seems like the scene stealer (maybe its GOT or Kingsmen golden circle, but he seems so at home in this role)

-More Gal Gadot riding the sky footage is always good. Looks like they will utilize Chris Pine in a comedy role.  Also I was jazzed seeing chris pine flying a plane again

-Not as much 80’s love as the first trailer but seems like a good balance of drama and 80’s fan service

-Flash (Film)

-Not a ton of new info from the Flash panel, but the concept art of the new suit with light imbued in it looks cool and the fact that batman (the michael Keaton batman is the one featured in the concept art with the yellow bat symbol) made his suit has some similar hints to the Iron Man and Spider-Man relationship in the tech gifted mentor making things for the protogee

-No explanation as to how Ben Afleck will be featured in this as well but with the flashpoint story and making Keaton somewhat of a Nick Fury character in this Multiverse overall storyline, I can’t wait to see how they pull it off and how they write out Afleck, hopefully in a good way

-Sadly the lack of this Batfleck makes me think we will never really get to see the glory of the joe mang-gah-nello deathstroke sad face emoji

-Suicide Squad 2?

-We will call it suicide squad 2 as of now

-First off were some character announcements, not all, but a good chunk

Idris Elba as Blood Sport

John Cena as Peacemaker

David dast mal chin as Polka-Dot Man

Nathan Fillion TDK

Michael Roker as Savant

Pete Davidson as blackguard

Flua Borg as Javelin

Sean Gunn as Weasel

Peter Capaldi as Thinker

Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2

Mayling Ng as Mongal

Alica Braga as Solsoria

Steve Agee as the voice of King Shark

-Margo Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney are all back

-No word on the role of Tai ka Wai ti ti

-Ada-wale aki-know-ey- aay agh-bah- jay, Will Smith (obviously already stated), and Karen Fukuhara are the only three not returning

-Seeing the behind the scenes footage, I am definitely pretty excited for the look and tone and setting of this movie.

-Looks like a super cool war movie, and already I was talking with friend of the show Jon butensky about just how many characters will make it out alive of this movie, let us know who you think is immediately a goner and who will make it out because “They want to be in the sequel”.  In my mind the only safe characters are Harley quinn and idris elba’s blood sport (who still looks to be the fill in for Will Smith)

-The quote of this sneak peek, and the whole panel has to be “everyone’s exploding, genitals, heads, arms, legs”.  Yup, let’s end it there and go on to the next thing

-Snyder Cut Justice League

-First release of the Justice League Movie (Snyder Cut edition) will be in 4 one hour parts with a full version coming out later. You know I just want the full version because I live for extended cuts, I don’t even like that I have to swap out DVD’s for my Lord of the Rings extended cuts, oh wathcmen ultimate cut on one disk you beautiful film.

-The reveal footage looks amazing with so many new storylines, showing Darkseid, the football scenes with Cyborg, an amazing tone, and just so many more flushed out storylines.

-The haunting version of Hallelujah also  fits so well and really complements all these new scenes, also black suit Superman, Flash saving Iris west who was initially cut out of the film just like Jena Malone from the theatrical cut of BVS, some great wonder woman role model things. Which gives me some hope that the bank robber scene with GOT alum Michael Meckel-hetton will still be in this cut, that was one of the coolest scenes in Justice League for me.  Thank goodness we got this and can see it

-The fact that this may have more of a clear tie to Aquaman with Willem Dafoe, anything with him is perfect, is good to, that was not seen but it has been talked about

-Also two great little moments shown in one of the apocalypse flash forward moments, the trident from the Aquaman 2018 movie, Atlan’s trident, as well as a joker card both flash by quickly, which gives me more interconnectivity which I love and a bit of hope, which brings me to one downer point

-Sadly one thing that we did not see, and may never see, gosh I hope it is not true, is the Ayer Cut of the original Suicide Squad, give me my real extended cut with all my Jared Leto Joker scenes RIGHT NOW HBO MAX!!!

-Black Adam

-Some of these will always have less to talk about or show than others, this is one of those

-We got some cool looking concept art that looks to show some of how The Rock’s character got here and some ties to the modern world too

-But the artwork and the plot details seem cool, and The Rock is just super charismatic talking about something he is passionate about

-And he kind of confirms that hope that this will remain an anti-hero and things will be dark, because with Shazam feeling much more like a family movie, except the time that one guy got thrown out a window, I will be curious how they handle those two tones when they bring these two characters together

-Seeing this iteration of the JSA right after finishing Super Girl and having seen them recently enough in Legends of Tomorrow, I don’t get hyped just seeing the name.  But seeing a live action Dr. Fate is super exciting for the DC Nerd in me.  From the animated Justice League series, to Smallville, to the brief tease in Constantine.

-This has me pretty excited to smell what the Rock is cooking

-Titans

-Small diversion, but now that I have DC Universe and HBO Max, I really have to get on the Titans train, I know the adult animated Harley Quinn show is and looks good too, but the fight scenes and shooting look very good on Titans, add it to the list to catch up on

-Aquaman

-I think initially I was a bit disappointed thinking we were just getting some behind the scenes footage of how they shot all the effects, which was cool, but I wanted some more exciting future news announcements or at least something from Jason Momoa.

-I was a bit surprised to see Patrick Wilson but it made sense when they announced he would be back, not like earth shattering since his character was alive at the end of the first one, but it is cool

-I guess the most exciting things came from the story points of a darker tone, it being more serious, and “relevant to the world we are living in today”.  A bit mysterious but the darker thing makes sense with the eventuality of the much more horror focused trench spinoff.  Probably no Pitbull music in this one

-Shazam

-I am starting to see the trend of these movies in the middle who did not have as much to show, there is a reason they bookended with Wonder Woman and Batman.

-Well seeing the cast interact I remember how much fun and cute this movie was and the whole finding family angle

-The big discovery was an official title announcement of Shazam: Fury of the Gods

-Seemingly everyone is confused if Sinbad is actually in this movie or not having been on the panel and the whole panel seeming like a joke, we will leave it at maybe but leaning toward probably he is in this movie hah!

-Batman

-So I don’t think it is a stretch that people really wanted to see something from this, I really wanted to see Justice League Snyder Cut footage, but after seeing the trailer, this has to be the winner of the night, with the first look with only a quarter of the footage filmed so far, it looks beautiful.

-This iteration of Batman will be a detective story, take place during year 2 of the vigilante in Gotham, and tackle some interesting corruption topics.  Some of these are not inherently brand spanking new, but the gritty grounded take looks super interesting.

-The trailer looks amazing in look and tone and feel and the suit looks good and Gotham looks so gritty and lived in! The fight choreography looks great, the Saw style they are going with for the Riddler looks super edgy. Dark and gritty Batman is the best kind of Batman, and this has to be the greatest thing from

-Him going to town on some goons is ultra violent and a take that somehow feels darker than either Bale or Afleck, also curious if anyone things those bad guys have clown looking makeup, its that mouth makeup on the guy talking that looks like joker inspiration

-Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, and Paul Dano all look amazing. We did not really even see much of Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis (both of who I am super excited to see in their respective roles)

-wrap and call to action
