Actor, model, and supermom Angelina Barbieri joins the podcast for a high energy episode about acting, comedy, latin vibes, and balancing motherhood through the midst of it all.

We act out some improv scenes that take a left turn and test our acting skills. Angelina gives the raw truth about life as an actor, how hard it is to "make it" and how balancing life around it can be a challenge some may not understand.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to Kicking Up with y'all. What the vibes are immaculate? Every time we hop up in here, you hear the energy. You hear the vibes. You know what it is. You know what it is. You know what it is. Listen, we are, was this part two of the LA trip? LA Tour. We'll call it an LA tour.

SPEAKER_08

It's called the LA Tour.

SPEAKER_00

The LA Tour.

SPEAKER_08

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I'm just gonna do that throughout the whole podcast.

SPEAKER_00

Do you I I think you can hear it's high energy right now. It is high energy on this was a Thursday.

SPEAKER_04

It's a Thursday.

SPEAKER_00

It's like 11 a.m.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. But the vibes are high. We're vibing. We're vibing. You that's the thing with it. When you got good energy and you vibe, it doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_02

24-7. The light is shining. Even if it's about a rainbow in the sky.

SPEAKER_00

Stop listening. If you're watching on YouTube, in this background, I am looking at LA palm trees, LA mountains, mountaintops, a McDonald's.

SPEAKER_02

A Mercadge.

SPEAKER_00

All the above. But you probably, if you're only listening on audio, you probably hear this voice next to me. You're like, who is this? Who is this little bubbly ball of energy? So we have an actor. A super mom.

SPEAKER_02

Super mom.

SPEAKER_00

A Latina Queen. All the stuff we're and you know, if you really, you know, rock with us, we rep South Florida. That's where where home base is, where we record. She's originally from South Florida. We're doing it all the way on the West Coast. So I'm gonna let you introduce yourself. Go crazy. She has the biggest smile on her face right now.

SPEAKER_03

He said, go crazy. I was already cutting him off, you guys. I am so excited to be here with you and vibe with y'all. My name is Angelina Barbieri. I am a mom, a tired mom. If you're a mom, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_04

I'm an actor, I'm a Reiki healer, girl. I'm everything.

SPEAKER_00

We're just She said, what can't What can't we do? We do it all. Why not? We love it. One low. So a quick little context. Um like I said, we're out here in LA for the week, and we wanted to kind of expand on the content, do different things, and you had a friend, a mutual friend, uh, I guess put you on.

SPEAKER_02

Marlene Perez.

SPEAKER_00

She found the green button, y'all. She found the green button.

SPEAKER_03

She's gonna appreciate that, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, but um, we've been doing things different. We're we're talking to different people, we're having more guests on, we're catching a vibe.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so today, like I said, you're an actor. It's an actor or actress.

SPEAKER_03

I was actors because usually I changed it.

SPEAKER_04

I saw you change it.

SPEAKER_00

I was like, I'll try to, I didn't know if it's like a feminine or no.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, you some people say, like, I'm an actress, this, but overall, like, we're all like actors. Okay. So we'll say we'll say actor. I'm an actor.

SPEAKER_00

We'll say actor.

SPEAKER_04

I'm an actor.

SPEAKER_00

So we're doing some improv games today. Um, you might make me test out my acting skills as well. And this pressure, because I already know you I I've seen it already off camera. I already know you you can get into character. Oh, yes. Oh, I know. I know. Um, we're doing some improv games. All right. Um, like we just mentioned, we're gonna talk about some motherhood. A lot of a lot of moms who listen and follow. So shout out to y'all. Um, and then we're gonna we're gonna talk, we're gonna have some Latin vibes going, you know. We might we might do a little sauce on here. We might we might shake a little heads on here, do a little da-da-da. Cause we we got uh a Latino and Latina in the building.

SPEAKER_03

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

So we gotta wrap it. We're gonna start with this game though. Okay. I'm a little nervous. Me too. I'm a little nervous. I'm a little nervous. Alright, so we got an icebreaker game here. Let's call it emotional roller coaster. Okay. So, how it works, we're gonna act out a scene. We're gonna have different scenes, and we have to attach an emotion to that scene. So, sad, angry, frustrated, excited, flirty, whatever it is. Um, and then we got different scene scenarios. Um, like for example, one of them is taking an order at a drive-thru. So just having every different emotion. So let's go. What pick a number one through eight.

SPEAKER_03

Seven.

SPEAKER_00

Seven. Ooh. Uh-oh. All right, let's see how we're gonna do this.

SPEAKER_03

So you don't have to pick seven if you're another.

SPEAKER_00

You pick seven. And this is yours. This one was yours.

SPEAKER_03

Oh no.

SPEAKER_00

What did I so the scenario?

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Boyfriend meets boyfriend meets intense Latina mother-in-law for the first time. So I'm guessing I'm the boyfriend. And you're the mother-in-law.

SPEAKER_06

I think so.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so hmm. So you could start. Are we both acting in this way?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so the thing that's gonna be tricky though is there's nowhere, there's no one to see to change the feeling of what it's gonna be.

SPEAKER_00

Let's just start with one to see how it goes. Let's just start with But we like both can't be mad. Let's start with you.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's a good idea. So, how about we start? You give me an a feeling to be pick one. Yeah, that's a good idea. And then we'll go from there.

SPEAKER_00

Pick a number one through nine.

SPEAKER_04

Ay, ay, ay, three.

SPEAKER_00

Three sad.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I know what I'm gonna do.

SPEAKER_00

So, boyfriend meets intense Latina mother for the first time, and you are sad. Okay. Oh, you're already into character. Um, damn. Okay. She's already giving me the sad face.

SPEAKER_06

This is gonna be our Yes, now I'm finding more buttons.

SPEAKER_00

Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you. Hola. Hola, como estás?

SPEAKER_06

Muy bien, como te llama?

SPEAKER_00

Uh, me llamo Kaz Itu.

SPEAKER_06

Ay, qué triste. Why? What kind of name? Because Kaz sounds like cat.

SPEAKER_00

You you don't like my name or or you don't like cats?

SPEAKER_06

It's just I like your name, pero cat reminds me common. No, it's okay. It's okay.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I just uh I'm in love with your daughter.

SPEAKER_06

You know, I wanted to come meet you and she's been wanting to find someone for so long.

SPEAKER_00

Do do I'm sure you've heard some things about us, you know. Do you how do you how do you feel about it?

SPEAKER_06

I just how can I say it? I just really am upset that you cheated with her instead of her being with the other girlfriend she was with before. It's so confusing. She told you about that? Because of Messi, of course. She's my guy.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, okay. See, I was, you know, I thought we had moved past it. You know, I was really excited to come meet you and put that in the past. Um I didn't know she was dating women.

SPEAKER_06

Well, yes, it's very surprising to me, too.

SPEAKER_00

But you know, it's it's such a pleasure to meet you, you know.

SPEAKER_06

I think amor, yes. Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_06

You're welcome.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. Damn, now I'm a cheater.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, now you're a cheater. Sorry, didn't mean that improv. You never know what's gonna come.

SPEAKER_00

It's all good. Should we keep that one and do a different emotion or should we do a different scene?

SPEAKER_04

Let's do you have a strong emotion in your scenario, and I'm playing off you. Is that okay?

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Pick a number one through eight.

SPEAKER_04

You pick a number, oh no, you already know what they are.

SPEAKER_00

Actually, I don't I don't know the order. So I'll I like three. My favorite number's three.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so go ahead and pick three. What's yours?

SPEAKER_00

Ooh, parent teacher conference. Parent teacher conference. Um can we go three and three?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, three and three.

SPEAKER_00

No, I don't go three. Three is sad.

SPEAKER_04

That's yeah, no, we already said that. So pick a number for me. Uh let's do between nine, right? Yeah. Do six.

SPEAKER_00

Six.

SPEAKER_04

So parent teacher conference. Six.

SPEAKER_00

Nonchalant.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's awesome. So, do you want to be the parent?

SPEAKER_00

I'll be the parent.

SPEAKER_04

Love that. Love that.

SPEAKER_00

I'll be the parent.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh, this is so good. Okay. Um, Mr. Rodriguez. Thank you so much for coming in today to talk about Charlie.

SPEAKER_00

What's up?

SPEAKER_04

What's up? Um, yeah, Charlie's having some really big difficulties at school and we're concerned.

SPEAKER_00

Like what?

SPEAKER_04

Like what? Um he is uh peeing outside when he's supposed to be going to the bathroom. He's calling it a nature pee.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, when you gotta go, you gotta go. So I'm trying to figure out what the problem is.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Well, Mr. Rodriguez, I understand that you think that's fine, but he's 13.

SPEAKER_00

Next year he'll be 14.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Um could you guys talk about these things at home, or how are you feeling about the next steps should be to work on this problem?

SPEAKER_00

Um, well, this is my first time hearing it's a problem, so I don't know. I guess pee less at home. Give him less water. Give him less water, okay. Um are you suggesting something?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm suggesting that both of you maybe uh can talk about it at home and maybe we get him get him connected with the guidance counselor here at school.

SPEAKER_00

The guidance counselor.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, it seems like you have some feelings about that.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, this is the eighth meeting this month, so you're just kinda here.

SPEAKER_04

You're just kinda here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Well, it seems like nothing's changing at home, Mr. Rodriguez, and that's kind of a concern to all of us here at the school faculty. So maybe you just want to have a little bit more, you know, intention with your son.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean I could talk to Wifey about it.

SPEAKER_04

Wifey.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. You know, she's pretty busy these days.

SPEAKER_04

So Yeah, I'm sure she is. Um I'm sure she is. I'll see what I can do. And do you yeah, can't do you do things, Mr. Rodriguez? That's my question.

SPEAKER_00

I I believe I do enough. You know, he makes it here. Right.

SPEAKER_04

Well.

SPEAKER_00

Is there anything else you need?

SPEAKER_04

What else do you want from me, woman? Oh my god, it's so funny.

SPEAKER_00

I love it.

SPEAKER_04

I love it. Me too. That was super fun.

SPEAKER_00

You want to do one more each? Yeah. You know what? I'm gonna let you pick.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna let you pick.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Let me pick up the scene.

SPEAKER_00

Four. Oh, calling a therapy hotline.

SPEAKER_03

Oh gosh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

And then one through nine.

SPEAKER_03

Uh nine.

SPEAKER_00

Uh so we got calling a therapy hotline in an anxious or panic mode.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's not the valid. That's on the nose.

SPEAKER_00

I guess I'm on the other end of the line.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh, I feel bad.

SPEAKER_00

It's my job.

SPEAKER_03

I I guess so.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, how can I help you?

SPEAKER_03

Hi. Um, yeah, is this is this the therapy, the therapy the therapy hotline?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. How can I help you?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I can't. I can't breathe. I don't think I can breathe.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so slow down, slow down, slow down. What's good what's going on over here?

SPEAKER_06

I can't find my cat.

SPEAKER_00

We can we could definitely help you find your cat. Can you though? Because you're on the phone. It's okay. Do you remember where your cat was last located?

SPEAKER_06

Where's Fluffles? I don't think.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna find fluffles.

SPEAKER_06

Fluffles, fluffles. I said there's so many coyotes where we live, and maybe you can come up with an idea of like how you can help me.

SPEAKER_00

So has fluffles ever been lost before? Do you remember where fluffles was.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my god, has the fluffles ever been lost?

SPEAKER_00

Does he she get out a lot?

SPEAKER_04

You know, um, so it goes more by they. Um they have 2026, understand. Yeah, 100%. Yeah. Um they have not been out. That ch they just started going out very recently.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, how long has she been missing?

SPEAKER_04

It's not a she, it's a they.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, sorry. Um probably gonna lose my job over that.

SPEAKER_06

Yes, please. No, I won't tell them. If you just keep stay on the phone with me, don't leave me. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh, wait, are you still listening? I think.

SPEAKER_00

How long have they been missing?

SPEAKER_04

They have been missing for three days, but I'm just I think I'm having an epiphany. I think I'm having an epiphany.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, let's let's hear it.

SPEAKER_06

I think I think it's an abandonment thing.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think that fluffles just does not like you?

SPEAKER_06

That he's gonna abandon me. That that she or he or there's gonna abandon me.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, it's okay. It's okay. Fluffles loves you. Fluffles loves you very much. We're gonna find fluffles. Um three days is a little excessive, but we're gonna find fluffles. Okay. What we're gonna do for you is we're gonna send the police over there. Okay, thank you. Uh, we're gonna help track down fluffles. Okay. If you could just provide me, you know, if she's ever I'm sorry, if they have I'm losing my job for sure.

SPEAKER_08

It's don't lose, don't lose your job. It's another abandonment. I think I'm gonna lose. I don't want to lose, please. Don't let me lose you.

SPEAKER_00

If they have I'm here with you. I'm here with you. I'm sorry, my name is not Kaz. It's not Kaz.

SPEAKER_08

Kaz is a nice name. It reminds me of Kat.

SPEAKER_00

My name is Darien.

SPEAKER_05

Darien, that's a nice name, Darien.

SPEAKER_00

What's your name?

SPEAKER_05

My name is Sophia.

SPEAKER_00

Hi, Sophia. We're gonna find Fluffles for you today.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

It's okay. Okay, it's okay. Fluffles is probably, you know, out just taking a little walk. How how old is Fluffles?

SPEAKER_06

13.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, at that age with cats, they can tend to have a mind of their own. Uh-huh. Um, you know, it's nothing that you've done wrong. She probably It's not my fault.

SPEAKER_06

She did you say she a dummy?

SPEAKER_00

Yo, I said she.

SPEAKER_04

Like, it's a cat, it's a girl. See?

SPEAKER_00

I don't I'm I'm bad with cats. I'm so bad with cats.

SPEAKER_04

I don't I don't know. You know what? I've mentioned cats like three times already, and I don't have a cat. Like, I don't know what I would assume you.

SPEAKER_00

I'm super allergic to cats. Are you? I'm so allergic. I mean I just assume they're all a she.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it makes sense, right?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, even the way they move, they're like, you know, like they're just they're they you would think Yeah, I I gotta I gotta I need some training if I'm doing therapy hotline. I just want to talk about three times.

SPEAKER_04

I just love how you were saying that you were going to lose your job.

SPEAKER_00

You know, it's all recorded.

SPEAKER_04

So 100%.

SPEAKER_03

He's like he needs a therapy session for being a bad therapist, everybody.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think I just figured out what my career choice won't be.

SPEAKER_03

100%. I agree, I agree with you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah, this is kind of about y'all. Don't call here for therapy.

SPEAKER_04

Do not call here for therapy. Give your comments, but be nice to these things. All right, you want to do one? Yeah. Or you want to add?

SPEAKER_00

You can pick the numbers. Are you sure? Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

We'll we'll we'll end on this one.

SPEAKER_04

Scenario. Let's see.

SPEAKER_00

One through eight, I think that was.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, did we do six already?

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Let's do one of the higher ones. How about oh one or two?

SPEAKER_00

Asking for a raise.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. Give me a damn money.

SPEAKER_00

It depends what my emotion is, though.

SPEAKER_04

That's true.

SPEAKER_00

One through nine, what's the emotion?

SPEAKER_04

Mmm. Four.

SPEAKER_00

Four. Suspicious.

SPEAKER_04

That's amazing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ready?

SPEAKER_00

Hi there, uh, Miss Molina. How you doing today?

SPEAKER_04

I'm doing good. How are you?

SPEAKER_00

Good, good. Uh, just wanted to come in here because there's some things that's been on my mind. Uh, been here for a while. And um just had a few questions today, if that's cool.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, of course, of course.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so yeah, like I said, I've been here 14 years. And um I've won employee of the the year, five out of those fourteen years. Um and I'm just wondering, you know, there hasn't really been any bonuses, hasn't really been any extra incentives or or pay. And uh it's not really sitting right with me. You know, you guys tell me you value me, and I'm such a good employee. Um, you know, coming on my 15-year benchmark, but you know, same uh same salary as day one.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. Um, you know, we just really feel that and think, you know, we really think that you are just uh a good team player, and this is just you know the company and the group as a whole. And uh, you know, sometimes you take one for the team, and you know, we do have we do have plans for you though. I will say we have plans for you.

SPEAKER_00

Take one for the team. Because uh I I pulled up some records. Okay. I've been pulling up records for the past three-ish years. Oh, okay. And um, long story short, I found out some money laundering is going on here. Oh, well, and uh sounds ridiculous. Uh yeah, it sounds like it, right? But I can pull up fives for you. I could actually pull it up right now.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. I mean, I don't think that's necessary.

SPEAKER_00

I think it is actually. Okay. So you've been saying I'm a team player for the past seven years. Mm-hmm. And uh saying you got all these future plans for me. But like I said, I'm 14 years in. You've been money laundering for the past three, maybe even longer. So I'm just trying to figure out what's going on here. Uh figure out where the payment's really going because uh quite frankly, I'm not the only one in this position. Well, uh I yeah. Sandra and Henry always said the said the same thing. They've been here about the same time.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know where you're getting your information from. But I don't think it's true. I really don't. I mean, we do everything in our power to make sure you guys are taken care of. And yes, there have been some setbacks in the last few years, but I d I I want you to know that you are deeply appreciated in this company. And honestly, it is a company of laundromats. So maybe that's where there's some confusion. Because laundering money sounds like laundromats, and we own a bunch of laundromats, and maybe that is just where it's coming from.

SPEAKER_00

So maybe you need to check your records say here, it is not laundromats. Uh, you're running illegal casinos, and you have been for a while. And I appreciate your effort into making us feel like we're taken care of, but a monthly pizza party is not gonna cut in. It's good pizza. F that pizza. If you cannot if you want me to blow it up right now, I can blow it up right now.

SPEAKER_04

Well, do you want to show you?

SPEAKER_00

I was trying to be nonchalant, I was trying to be take a cool with you, uh-huh. But I have all the records on file. Okay. And more.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so are you threatening?

SPEAKER_00

I'm threatening you.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, really? Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, you and Henry and Because this company can go to shit as soon as I I put this out there.

unknown

You know what?

SPEAKER_04

I don't even know.

SPEAKER_00

I want a 25% raise.

SPEAKER_04

25% raise. 25% raise. We do not. This is long overdue.

SPEAKER_00

You have, oh, trust me, you have 25%. I have the records. I see the financials. I see it all. I've been deep digging for a while. I've been patient. I've been trying to make this happen.

SPEAKER_04

I think. You want to see it? I think you're confused. It's not my fault.

SPEAKER_00

I don't care whose fault it is. Well, it's like you can figure it out. Mr. Samson can figure it out. Alright.

SPEAKER_04

What? The news today? Okay, look, look, look, look, look, look, look. Okay. Look, I'm sorry. Alright. I there has just been so much going on at home. Alright. My cat just died. Like go with the cat.

SPEAKER_00

I don't want to hear about Mr. Fluffles.

SPEAKER_02

It's a different scenario, but I couldn't help myself.

SPEAKER_00

I had to stop you there.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god, it's so funny.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, we were about to get into it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we were. That was good though. That was. You were getting pissed off. You changed your your the feeling that you were having. So see.

SPEAKER_00

Because suspicion never stays suspicious. Then it always leads to something.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it always leads to mmm angry.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna start with the suspicion. 100%. I know what's up here.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, exactly. You like you know the truth. I know the truth. You were good too.

SPEAKER_00

I like it.

SPEAKER_04

Well, thank you so much.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. You know what? We'll we'll close that for a sec. But I got I got a follow-up question for you. Yeah. What's your favorite type of acting to do?

SPEAKER_04

Comedy.

SPEAKER_00

Comedy.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, we should have done some comedy.

SPEAKER_04

That we just did. Improv.

SPEAKER_00

I mean like some some comedy. Like I don't have something off the top of my head, but we'll we'll come back to it.

SPEAKER_03

We'll come back to it.

SPEAKER_00

There's another game. But we're gonna we're gonna talk about acting a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Before we get into that game. Take a little breather. Have our little actors workshop on Can I Barbara True.

SPEAKER_04

Oh no, this is awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Of course. Of course. You're killing it right now.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, it's so fun here. We're vibing.

SPEAKER_00

We are. But let's transition a little bit. Let's let the people know about you. Um, how you started, how you fell in love with acting. Like, can you explain that a little bit?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, thank you so much. Yeah, I uh so I was raised in Florida. That's what's really cool. Like we're both from, you know, like South Florida. South Florida. From the East Coast, East Coast, West Coast. Just kidding. Maybe not. But it's definitely West Coast, West Coast. I won't even deny it. You love it. It's a little nice over here. It is nice over here. It is nice over here. Um, but I love the vibes of of Miami and New York and East Coast. But yeah, I mean, so growing up, you know, immigrant parents, Latinos, and um just like always felt like I kind of didn't know where I fit in and stuff. So when I started watching, you know, I grew up in the 90s, so it was like Friends and Seinfeld. It's when like the Victoria's Secret shows were like super popular, you know, like when And the you know, Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum and all of them when they were coming out. So I just like really was like, oh my gosh, like it was another world for me. And so I got into theater at a young age. I went, you know, to Parkway middle school for the performing arts at is that in South Florida? That's in South Florida.

SPEAKER_03

That's near the swap shop.

SPEAKER_00

Oh wow. You were in the trenches.

SPEAKER_03

They took me in there.

SPEAKER_04

I I took the bus at like five in the morning. I almost went to Dillard High.

SPEAKER_00

Oh wow. I know. You're in the trenches.

SPEAKER_04

I was in the trenches. I decided not to go because uh they having metal detectors in the front of you know.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly where that is. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It's kind of fun to talk to you about it because you know it's like when I tell people about it, like they're like, they don't get it. But you know, when you when you're talking to someone, you know, that's from Florida or whatever, it's like, oh yeah, you were by the swap shop, like, oh shit.

SPEAKER_00

But it I actually went to the swap shop last week.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's so funny.

SPEAKER_00

Subs a tit, actually. Nice. I keep a tit on me. So yeah, swap shop. If you're ever in South Florida, best place to get it, good price. They'll get you right. But that's right, that's right.

SPEAKER_04

And I remember I'd have my just uh the little thing, but I that's where I got like my subwoofers and my amplifier because I had like that 95 Mustang and I was like, you know, like that base. But um no, so I I got into theater with school, and then like by the time I was 17, I was already like, I'm gonna like get out of here, I'm gonna go to Europe, I'm gonna be a model. I started modeling primarily, but yeah. Did you go to Europe? Oh yeah. At 17 I got a modeling contract and I was in Milan Europe modeling, and then I would do summers in New York, and then by 19, I I was I moved to New York and then I was modeling and acting out there. Okay, and then moved to the West Coast. So yeah, it's it I just love it. I love to tell, you know, you hear this a lot from actors. I love to tell story, but more than anything, I just love to be around other artists, like doing what we're doing right now. Yeah, it's just a vibe. It's fun, it's super fun.

SPEAKER_00

Like I said, what we just did, I felt like it was almost like a little bit of actors' workshop. Yeah. I used to take improv classes um right before COVID, a little bit into COVID.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, nice.

SPEAKER_00

Um, actually, like right before starting the podcast. That wasn't the reason for this, but I used to do a little acting myself.

SPEAKER_04

Isn't it fun?

SPEAKER_00

It is fun. It was never serious, but I'm like, oh, was that it is kind of fun? Hold on. It is fun.

SPEAKER_04

It's supposed to be fun. That's the thing, is then we start taking it too seriously, and then it's not fun and it's a drag, and it's like, ugh, but it's you gotta listen, lay back, chill, have fun with it. Just have fun. That's how you know if you're doing it right, is if you're having fun and you're chill and you know exactly.

SPEAKER_00

So, what's something that's misunderstood about actors?

SPEAKER_01

Oh gosh.

SPEAKER_04

Just like when so many people are like, You're killing it, and it's like such a hustle. I mean, it's such a hustle. The amount of rejection that comes with it, and that is yeah, and it's not even rejection really, because it's not like someone saying, like, you're horrible. It's just you know, or you're not getting it because of this. It's just it's so competitive. It's like it's like um like pro sports, the same thing. Yeah, it's very similar, like the 0.1% are gonna like make it to the NFL or da-da-da, or you know, it it's you know what's funny?

SPEAKER_00

I use that analogy a lot. Um well with acting podcasting, uh, because I grew up playing sports, so I knew from a young age how hard it is to make it, and that's every young athlete's dream is to make it to any league, your respected league. And every league we all know it's a 0.1% chance to make it. Yep. And I look at that even with podcasting now. Um, there's a lot of podcasts, but you know, to like really, really make it, yeah, um, it's very hard. Same way acting. Um, so I kind of have that athlete mentality when it comes to that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and that's what I love about it.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, oh, we're gonna make it.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely, never give up. Like, and that's the thing, and like just bringing your authenticity to it.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. And that's the beautiful thing about being creative because like with athletics, you hit a certain age, you you can't make it.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, that's true.

SPEAKER_00

Like they're yeah, it gets a little harder when you're older, but there's not necessarily a cutoff for it, like you know, there's 50-year-old actors, 60-year-old actors.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely, and it just keeps changing, everything keeps changing and expanding, and it's just it's it's great because there's so many voices that are needed. And so, like, even what we're talking about right now, it's so cool. But it is, it's it's an athlete's mentality if you're in entertainment. Yes, it really is.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Do you have that background or are you always been entertainment?

SPEAKER_04

Uh always entertainment, you know. I I'm like athletic, but my poor husband loves sports and I don't know jack shit about sports. I have a sweater that says ghost sports. Uh I really do. His family, they're so athletic, and I have a sweater and hat that they gave me that says go sports because I legit I legit have been saying that before they were making sweaters and hats. I'm that person.

SPEAKER_00

There's been so many uh women who like are not really into sports, but they they like, oh yes, go sports. And it's like, especially when it's related to something of like pop culture, yes, or like something that women like.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's it's hilarious. I mean, mine is like it's as a joke. Like, I'll never forget when I was like meeting, you know, his family because they're they all went to UCLA and athletes and whatnot, and you know, they were all talking about you know sports. You know, they're they're like, well, they have a scrimmage, and I was like, What's that? And they were like, You're kidding us, right? Like, you're kidding me. And I was like, What? And they're like, It's a practice before the actual game. I'm like, oh, so like a dress rehearsal. And they were like, Oh my god, but it is that's pretty much what it is.

SPEAKER_03

I gotta just do it also because I know that it makes them even more like, oh my gosh. But it is, but there are a lot of parallels.

SPEAKER_04

There are athletics and being an industry.

SPEAKER_00

It is um, I feel like it's two of the hardest industries to get in. True. But I mean, I'm I'm grateful for it. I love it. Um, I love having a creative mindset and being able to even meeting you today, like being able to just do something completely different. Um, you know, we're bouncing ideas off each other. Like, I'm all for it. I like it.

SPEAKER_03

I know, it's really cool. I know it is really cool.

SPEAKER_00

You you are very bubbly too.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I'm so happy because this is it.

SPEAKER_04

Like, this is what it's about. Like, this is collaborating with other artists. Like, this is my favorite part of it. Like, I I love being on set because I like being around all the people. I love acting, but really it's this.

SPEAKER_02

Like being with other artists. Like, that's like for real.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, we're we're artists now? We're artists. We are artists.

SPEAKER_02

Entertainment, artists, creatives, creators. I mean, all of it.

SPEAKER_07

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I like it. What what's like the day in the life of an actor? Obviously, every day is different, but just like a general day in the life.

SPEAKER_04

Well, it's a little different for me now because I have kids, so it really is split up a lot. But the day in the life of an actor in their 20s is gonna be a lot different than a day in an actor of a woman like myself that's you know married with kids.

SPEAKER_00

So let's hear your day in the life in your 20s versus we won't drop the age yet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No worries.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, um, no, thank you. This is actually great because I I like lived that life for so long, and there was a lot of downtime. I remember my parents would always be like, gosh, you're so lucky. I'm like, I'm in between auditions when I was in Miami, I'm at the beach, um journaling, you know, listening to music, woke up late, you know, it just depends. And then, you know, and then like go to auditions like half like from the beach or whatnot. Uh but it it there was a lot of downtime. In your 20s. In my twenties. I mean, and then of course, like working out and all that. But I feel like for today, for creatives and you know, artists, like there's so much opportunity like this, like that you can create your own stuff that people are working harder where they're like producing their own stuff, they're making, they're writing their own stuff. I didn't do any of that. I just I was more like I just showed up to the auditions, I was just like straight acting, modeling, that was it. Like I didn't really branch out until I took a break a little bit before I was doing I was making some of my own stuff, but now it's just like So how is it now? Ay, Dios mío, ay Dios mío, te digo casi, Dios mío, hablame en español. Estoy cansada, I'm tired. I mean, I like you know what? I'm I'm up at 5 a.m. The kids are like, I want my shake. It's just they're five and seven, they want they take this little protein shake. It's it's all about them. Like, you know, they're at this age where it really is so important and developmentally, which is what also I'm very grateful for. So it's all about like getting them ready and you know, spending that time with them, and then saying the same thing over and over and over again, and they don't listen, you know, which I'm to go brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your brush, drop them off, and then I'm like, I'm free, bitches! And then, because I've just been back in the industry like two years now, because I took a really long break having them, my beautiful, amazing husband, like all that, like living that life, but like I like am to the hustle like when I drop them off, and it's a really great like connecting with you. I ha I do a lot of stuff through social because a lot of my networking through social media, because um I live, you know, a few hours away from LA.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm I'm sure most of your opportunities are in LA.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, that drives.

SPEAKER_00

I've been around that area. Yeah, it's very nice, but for what we do, it's not much going on.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely, yeah. No, everything is down here. I miss a lot, you know, so there's there's that. But um putting auditions on tape, you know, so there is that. I was just a really quick little story. My daughter was like, Mom, are you gonna keep acting? And I was like, Oh, yeah, honey, I'm I'm really enjoying it. Is it why is it? Do you wish mommy was home and be here more? And she's like, No, I I I just want you to stop recording in the guest bedroom so I can have my own room now. I was like, That's my daughter. She's all like, no, I'm fine. Just can I have the room? But um, yeah, so then like again, just working and all that stuff, and then by three, four o'clock, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Is it a lot of like I guess in the room you have your own like studio set up? Is it a lot of like just recording yourself?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Running lines or yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

And then there's like great websites that you know you could and have like a reader, you know, so someone that helps you read. So it's like a setup kind of like this, and then it's so many cameras for doing a self-tape, but that's how everything's done now, which in for me is a blessing because um then I can live where I live and be able to audition still. This is true. Mm-hmm. And then go to baseball practice, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, oh yeah, you're deep in it. Oh yeah. Deep in it. Yeah. So what we'll we'll transition into the motherhood side of it. Like, how has you said your kids are five and six? Five and seven. Five and seven. So how's that been different? Like, because we have a lot of mothers who listen. Um, and you know, it it it it's inevitable, it's gonna change you. Um so what has that that change been like for you?

SPEAKER_04

It was really hard. I feel like I was blindsided to be honest. Hi moms, I love you guys so much.

SPEAKER_00

Did you plan for kids?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, I was very excited. I actually left the business. I was uh I was you know doing really well in the business. I in like around 2014, 2015. And I was by that time I was like um, you know, almost 15 years in the business. And then I was getting burnt out just from all the hustle for so long. And I was close to getting a big break. That's when I had shot ballers, I was with you know, The Rock and Shot That and like I was auditioning for like all this when streaming, all the shows were doing like really great, and so I was going out a ton, but it's still it was like for every 100 auditions you'd get a booking, and that's that I was like really getting into everything, all the rooms we we that's how we say it. But then I met my wonderful husband, and I was like, I've always wanted a family, like this is what I've been wanting, so you know he's couldn't pass that up. I couldn't, he's the best thing, he really is, and so he's you know, from from uh, you know, Santa Barbara area, and like told me about the Central Coast, and I was done, and I was like, Let's do it. I'm ready to leave this.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like that's uh such a nice place to like it's amazing, chill out, start a family.

SPEAKER_04

It is the best to raise a family, is that's why I'm getting used to the Cali life. Is I you really like it out here?

SPEAKER_00

This is yeah, I've been in the Bay Area a lot now. Yeah, um I've been in LA. This is my fifth time in LA. Um, I've only been in the Central Valley twice, and then I've been to San Diego once. I'm going to San Diego at the end of this week. Okay. So I'm San Diego's awesome. And then above the bay, there's not much. Yeah. Besides like nature.

SPEAKER_04

But absolutely, absolutely, yeah. Yeah. So so I left and I was like, I'm gonna be a mom now and a preschool teacher, and it's gonna be amazing. And it was not. I went to like community college because I hadn't I had never been to college. I was like, I'm gonna be community college to be a preschool teacher. And they I was doing my observational hours and they're like, Teacher Angie, teacher Angie. I was like, Teacher Angie needs a minute. I like could not, it was not for me. I just pictured, I guess it was like Is that preschool? Yeah, I know. Four, three, two. It was a lot, and so same thing happened with motherhood. It I just wasn't ready, like emotionally, mentally.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think you're ever ready for it. Yeah, it's just it happens and you adapt.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and so that's what it is. And I think a lot of moms can, you know, relate where it's like we have like major identity, you know, like the the dying of self. And then who am I this person now that I am a mother? And I feel you know, I had both of my kiddos, and then about two and a half years ago, I never I thought I was so done with the business. I really did. I because I had done it for so long and I got so close to making it big. And then I like was like, I'm out of here, and I thought I I was just gonna be fulfilled, but you know, I think as women and mothers, we're not this or that, we're this and that. And I am a mother and an artist, like you know, creative or whatever. It's like not even about the label, but that's I was like, oh my gosh, I can't believe I want to do this again. So I started reaching out to people and just listening to podcasts, and this amazing director, Rachel Ramist, got me in touch with my now manager, and it just kind of all aligned and just follow the breadcrumbs. Yeah. There you go.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

Hey We back, we back, we back, we back, we back, we back. You know what time it is? You know what time it is?

SPEAKER_04

What time is it?

SPEAKER_00

It's confession time. It's confession time.

unknown

Oh no.

SPEAKER_00

So welcome to the new game, improv game confession booth. Today we're using some storytelling for your entertainment.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

So what we're gonna do, we're gonna pull random confessions and act them out like they're real. So let's say you start, you give a confession, and then the other person has to ask questions, and you have to expand on this story, this fake story.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, it's so good.

SPEAKER_00

So, you know what? Let's let's have you start.

SPEAKER_04

You know I'm gonna tell you you're a friend of mine, and I'm gonna tell you what I did.

SPEAKER_00

What's going on? What happened?

SPEAKER_04

Dude, I messed up so bad. What happened? Well, I like I thought Crystal knew that Jake was gonna propose. And I freaking blew it up. Like she didn't know he was gonna propose, and she found out before.

SPEAKER_00

From you?

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

How'd how'd you tell her?

SPEAKER_04

I was like, girl, you know it's today's the day. And she was like, What are you talking about? I know. And I thought that she was in on it because she had been so excited, and she's like, I know something special's coming, and uh and and you know, I even went with her to go get a dress, and I didn't want to bring it up because I didn't want to be like Captain Obvious, but I got so confused.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm do you think he's still going to, or I mean he did. And she already knew.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, it's bad.

SPEAKER_00

How did she react to you?

SPEAKER_04

She's pissed. That's a special moment. I know, I messed it up. I mean, she's not as pissed as he is. Oh, yeah, he's probably livid. He's super livid. He's like, What is wrong with you? And and he's like, you know, you're always like that. You know, tu tu siempre estás haciendo eso, tu eres una chimosa. And I'm like, I'm not chismosa. And then he's like, Yes, you are, like super gossipy, cheese mosa, chismosa. And I was like, you know what? Like, don't hate on the cheese man.

SPEAKER_00

You were excited.

SPEAKER_04

I was super excited.

SPEAKER_00

You were happy for her.

SPEAKER_04

I was super happy for her, and I was like trying to like help her on, trying to be like part of the vibe, right? Like, that's what we do. We vibe, we're like super excited, and I was like, Yeah, let's dance. And then, yeah, it just was like she knew it made it kind of awkward.

SPEAKER_00

Well, luckily for you, it already happened. Yeah, you can't change it, so I feel like we just gotta embrace it.

SPEAKER_04

We do have to embrace it, but like imagine the wedding now. He's gonna be like, he said she's mossan.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, listen, he'll have a couple drinks, he'll be he'll forget about it.

SPEAKER_04

That's true. Can you make sure he gets to the bar early? Like, make sure you just I got him. Got him. Don't worry. Oh my goodness, thank you. Man, don't mess this up. How dare you? Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04

All right, pick a number for you. All right, I'm gonna pick a number for you. Let's do three.

SPEAKER_00

Three? I messed up.

SPEAKER_04

You messed up.

SPEAKER_00

I messed up real bad. I um I lied on my resume because you know I've been looking for a job recently. And uh tomorrow I have to perform a brain surgery.

SPEAKER_04

You have to what?

SPEAKER_00

I have to perform a brain surgery.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, what in the hell were you thinking?

SPEAKER_00

I I didn't think I would get this deep into it. Well, I just I was looking for a job.

SPEAKER_04

I wouldn't even for a job. I mean, like, what did you put on there?

SPEAKER_00

I said I had eight years experience in trauma surgery.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh. Just because you sell medical devices does not mean that you can perform a brain surgery.

SPEAKER_00

Listen, I mean, I I'm I'm I feel like I can still do it. I understand.

SPEAKER_04

You are you serious right now?

SPEAKER_00

I understand the business behind it.

SPEAKER_04

The business. This ain't no business. This is the surgery.

SPEAKER_00

I listen, I I care about the person. I really do. I read their file, I'm prepared for it. I'm I'm in it now. I can't reverse. I'm already in it.

SPEAKER_04

So it sounds to me like you took the doctor's appointment with this person, this.

SPEAKER_00

Well, okay. They were a little short on staff right now. I didn't want to fully commit at first, but they they were like, listen, we could really use you. And I it listen, there's a a$200,000 bonus at the end of it. I'm like, you know what, I I believe I could do this.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

I believe I could do this.

SPEAKER_04

I you know what? You know what? F it.

SPEAKER_00

It was either that or they send them three states over for the next next best.

SPEAKER_04

And I'm and you're the best best, right? I feel like it could jump start my career. It could this, oh boy.

SPEAKER_00

I, you know, I've been trying to get into medical. I didn't know it happened this way, but we're here now.

SPEAKER_04

So Oh my gosh, I'm gonna pray for you, man. I I don't know, I don't know. I don't know how you get yourself into these things so much. I mean Oh man. Remember that time that you said you were gonna be a kindergarten teacher? And I was like, what are you talking about? And I did. You did, you did. And I did a great job. You actually they did love you.

SPEAKER_00

I was there for three years.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you were. They really, the kids did love you. But still, man, you can't keep doing this to yourself. I mean, brain surgery, this is serious stuff.

SPEAKER_00

This is definitely someone's life.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I would say.

SPEAKER_00

I think I can do it. I believe I could do it. You know what? Um Are you all for it?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you know what? Forget it. Yeah, why not? I'm here for it. I'm here for it. I'm here for it.

SPEAKER_07

You're already here first.

SPEAKER_04

I already heard first. I'm doing a brain surgery tomorrow.

SPEAKER_03

I can't believe I gotta do it, but I'm doing it. You have to do this.

SPEAKER_00

It's funny you said that. I actually was a teacher.

SPEAKER_03

You were? I could so see that. I taught fifth grade. Oh, that's so sweet. I could see that.

SPEAKER_00

And that was I didn't that wasn't a lie on the resume thing, but that was definitely like, how did I get here? Really? It was completely I got hired a week before school started. Oh my god. And I didn't even apply.

unknown

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

So I've if people really know me, I've done some random jobs.

SPEAKER_04

That is awesome, but that's part of it, hey.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, brain surgery is wild.

SPEAKER_04

Brain surgery, that would be hilarious. Yeah, you know. I'm not doing that. No, either am I. Either am I.

SPEAKER_00

You gotta pick a number.

SPEAKER_04

Oh boy. All right, let's pick a number.

SPEAKER_00

Three and three and five. So you got one, two, and four.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, let's do uh four.

SPEAKER_00

Hola, mija.

SPEAKER_04

Uh also. When like like I met this guy like last week, like at like Ultra Festival, and like we were having like a really good time, you know? Like super, like super good time. Of course, as you should. Yeah, gracias, Papi. But like it was like a really like crazy like weekend. Like, but you know, like I'm a good girl, right? But like I started what did you do? Okay. Like we're getting married next, like in a week.

SPEAKER_02

I know, no, how does I see Poppy? I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_04

What? It's K he was super nice and like like got me like so many. You just met him. I know, Papi, but he's really nice and like I don't know. Are you messing me? Is there a No it's not April 4th? No, no I'm camera, Papi. Estoy diciendo la verdad. It's like he was like super nice and he said he was gonna do all these things and we were like hitting it off, and like then like next thing you know, he's proposing, and I was like, oh my god, like I can't believe this is happening, but like it's a huge ring. And you know what?

SPEAKER_00

A huge ring?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, mira, that's nice, huh?

SPEAKER_00

He's working down at the day. But I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

So, like, okay, maybe we have a plan. Like, what if like you scare him? And then that's how but I want to keep the ring, so we have to figure out how to do that.

SPEAKER_00

So you want to keep the ring, but you don't want to get married. Who did I raise? You can't do this. You can't do this. Listen, I can get you a ring.

SPEAKER_03

I can get you a ring. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

You can't I don't even know him. I've never met him. You can't get married. I guess not.

SPEAKER_04

I just thought that like it was gonna be like perfect, you know?

SPEAKER_00

He bought that at the pawn shop. That's nothing. He bought that at the swap shop? That's nothing. Yeah, swap shop.

SPEAKER_06

But at the swap shop.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know how I'm gonna explain this one.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh, he's so nervous. You guys, you should see his face right now. What happened?

SPEAKER_00

You've known me for a while now. Yeah. And I've done some questionable things in the past. Yeah. I've messed up pretty bad. Yes, we know this. Um I don't know how I got into this situation.

SPEAKER_05

Man, what happened?

SPEAKER_00

I I'm I'm cooked right now. I'm super cooked.

SPEAKER_04

What does that even mean?

SPEAKER_00

I'm I've I I really messed up.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it just came to my attention that I've been dating two best friends for the past three years.

SPEAKER_07

What?

SPEAKER_00

Uh uh. I thought maybe they just knew each other, but they're best friends.

SPEAKER_04

Dude, what in the world?

SPEAKER_00

And yeah, I'm in a long-term relationship with both of them right now. Oh my god, they know yet.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, they know. They know. If they're best friends, they know. They're they're messing with you. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_00

They I don't know what to do.

SPEAKER_04

Um I I would go hide home. I love both of them. I would go hide. I think that they are coming for you.

SPEAKER_00

But I love both of them.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I'm sure they love you too. But if they're best friends, unless they're already fighting and not talking to each other, the other option is they're planning how they're gonna kill you.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I've had a really good relationship with both.

SPEAKER_04

Well, uh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We we're we're, you know, both are going very well. They know how I am. I've I just, you know, I date multiple people at a time, so it's not a good thing. Yeah, yeah, the poly thing, whatever it's called. Yeah, yeah. But it's just like But I don't know about the best friend. Like I didn't know they were best friends. That's something I'd never done.

SPEAKER_04

The sister wives thing. Gosh, it's so weird. I'm I'm I'm I mean, do you realize what you're getting into?

SPEAKER_00

I'm already in it. I'm deep in it.

SPEAKER_04

You are deep in it. Okay, so then this is the situation. So you're if it's the poly thing, right? So like they're fine with it.

SPEAKER_00

Then Well, usually I'm fine with it, but not best friends.

SPEAKER_04

Uh, usually you're fine, but not best friends. I don't know if you can put that clause in there like that.

SPEAKER_00

It's I mean it's like, you know, we for the sake of the relationships, we gotta have a one random, just for the you know.

unknown

Aye, aye, aye.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I mean, what is what is your solution here? What are the things?

SPEAKER_00

I don't think they know because they're not really poly, only on poly.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh. Well, sweetheart.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think they're they're both in love with me, and I'm in love with both of them, but they're both in love with me, and I might have to choose one.

SPEAKER_04

You might have you might have to choose one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I might have to choose one. But I love them both.

SPEAKER_04

And you're but you love them both.

SPEAKER_00

Or maybe I can transition them into being poly.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I think that's your best bet right now.

SPEAKER_00

You think I should do that?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, definitely, 100%. Yeah, high five on that one.

SPEAKER_00

That's why you're my best friend.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Let me say this straight. I'm not a poly. I'm not a poly. We were improving for that. Oh my god. No, no, no, you gotta be able to do that.

SPEAKER_04

This is part of the acting. We wanted to make you laugh. That you're making you laugh.

SPEAKER_00

So, yeah, basically, we were talking about before about the supermom contest. Yes. I don't know all the details about that, so I want you to just explain what it is, what it's for, how people can help all the above.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely, absolutely. So, all right, so there's this awesome contest going on right now. It's called the Super Mom contest, and it's run by Colossal. And Colossal Group helps nonprofit organizations um like the one that they're helping, this one, which is Children's Miracle Network, uh, raise funds. So the years prior, they've, you know, raised like$2.5 million. And the way it works is that there's a super mom. So one supermom out of like thousands of people that are gonna enter this contest that we're in right now, we're in the middle of it, right? As this is airing. And they with votes, you know, it narrows down. And, you know, as it narrows down, you can buy votes. Now you buy them only on there, on the profile, right? Because it's the super mom winner. Um, and I'm, you know, I'm a contestant in it, will get twenty thousand dollars, um, a family trip, and gets to be featured in New Beauty magazine. So it's really been beautiful to see all of you know the different people that are doing this contest because it's all women that like, you know, they have a voice and and what they want to say. Some people have experienced really horrible things or sickness, and then they can use the money to like help their lives. For me, it's more about um what it's like being a mother, trying to have a new career, being back into my career, balancing life, and how you know, a lot is expected from us. So everybody has their own story with it, but as the contest is getting more like smaller, it and there's probably around this time when this is airing, you know, there's gonna be like the finalists and semifinalists.

SPEAKER_00

Um how many contestants are there total like to start?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I think there's like over 50,000.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Wow. Because we're all in groups, right? And I could be mistaken, but this is like from what I've seen with research, there's like about 4,000 groups of like 50 people, 30, 50 to 60.

SPEAKER_00

So it's a winner per group, or they just like it starts with like a bracket?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so it starts with that. So like, you know, it starts weekly that they start narrowing down the groups, and then there's one the for number one winner of each group, then there's like the semifinalists, and then there's the quarterfinals, and then there's the semifinalists, and then there's the finalists. So it's till um end of June.

SPEAKER_00

When did it start?

SPEAKER_04

So it started um April 13th. Okay. So not too long ago from when we're filming. But um for all the mothers that are doing the contest, um, I'm thinking about you, and you know, you that you get a one free vote a day, and then in May, like around this time and end of May, then it starts to get like a little bit more competitive, but then you can also like buy the votes and all of that money goes to the Children's Miracle Network, which is really beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

We love to support a cause.

SPEAKER_04

We do love to support a cause and support empowering women. And so I was like, you know what? I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it. And you know, I wasn't expecting that I was gonna be able to see you and do this podcast. So I'm like, fine.

SPEAKER_00

This is completely spawned. This is a week ago, we didn't know we were doing this.

SPEAKER_04

100%, you know, and that's like what's so cool. And again, it kind of goes back to you know being an artist and being, you know, in entertainment, like you just don't know what's gonna happen, but that's like what's so exciting about like kind of like the athlete of being an entertainer. You just you know, but then like these cool moments happen, and then yeah, it all kind of aligns. So anyway, the contest is going on now. If I'm put my profile, super mom profile, it's on my social.

SPEAKER_00

Put a little link in there. Yeah, there's a little link down there right there. Put the little hyperlink right there.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you can go and vote. You get one free vote a day, and then feel free if you want to enter for a good cause. Then we can up my numbers there too. And um, really representing moms and representing moms that need help um as well is super important to me because it's a lot of work.

SPEAKER_00

Beautiful. I love it. Thank you for the the plug-in. No thank you. Definitely gonna go check that out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and then you I'm making sure I said this right, the Reiki? Reiki. So you told me you do it's Reiki meditation.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so I do Reiki and meditation.

SPEAKER_00

So Reiki is like I've actually never heard of it until you mentioned it. You haven't? I haven't. So I wanna I wanna learn right now.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I'm very excited to tell you about it. So Reiki, when you break up the word Reiki, Rei means like spiritual or universal, and Ki means life force energy. So it's spiritual life force energy. So a lot of people, if you've heard about, you know, Reiki and whatnot, you've probably heard about hands-on healing where it's like, you know, this this energy is coming, healing energy is coming from the sky and through the palm of your hands and healing you. But the reality is this is a Japanese practice, it started, you know, in the 1920s, way before, but was you know, the founder was Usui Mikao in the 1920s. And he um, you know, uh really the belief in the thing was like if if you live a life with like no anger, no worry, if you're in gratitude, you're true to your way and your being, and have compassion for others, like this is what Reiki is. It's your inner luminosity. That is how does how does the actual process work? So the actual process is really connecting and rediscovering like our true nature by like breath work and meditations. Like there's like meditations and chanting, there's like hands-on healing, there's different things in the system of Reiki that help you to be in that place, and that's why a lot of it does take like you know, like focus of like sitting down and meditating and being mindful. So two inches below the navel is your hara. So your hard two inches below the navel, yeah, like right here. And that is the Japanese believe that's like your your key, your life force energy is there. So when you breathe in, you do ex like meditation exercises, like Josh and Kokyoho, you know, you breathe in and you expand the belly into where the hara is, and then as you exhale, we're doing it right now. Yeah, we're doing it right now. Then you expand and you you picture all of that white light, inner luminosity expanding.

SPEAKER_00

So is this is like you know, there's different types of healing and meditation. Yeah. Are you speaking to people? Like when you teach it, you speak to people, because you know there's like yeah, there's sound, yeah, there's sound healing hundred percent. So this is you talking.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so I might do a guided meditation. That's a way that I do it. Um, because I I actually another thing that I do is at the den, the den meditation is a great virtual website that has like all virtual like healing and meditation and tarot and all this stuff. And I do a weekly meditation Reiki circle there. So with that, it'll be a Zoom call and I'll like guide people through meditation and through Reiki. And um, so yeah, that's a way to do it. Another way to do it is that like, you know, you do hands-on healing, which is where I'm focusing on that Reiki energy, that inner luminosity and bringing healing to you through yeah, interconnectedness. It's really beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

So, can we do like a quick practice right now? Yeah, of course. Like like 30 seconds left. Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

So let's, yeah, yeah, let me show you. Okay, so lead the class. Lead the class. Okay, this is good. And this is really good. This is because this is very grounding. So you want to have whenever you're doing any of these kind of actual senses. Yeah, you want to sit up, you want to have your feet on the floor because it's a focused practice, you know. It's like if we're like this, we're not focused. You know, it's like breathe in, breathe out. It's like, no, no, no, no, no, no. Like the way that the Japanese are very strict, they're like, boom. So you're gonna stand up with nice or sit down with a nice elongated spine. All right, for everybody that's watching or listening, just take this moment too, okay? Because this is within us every single moment of the day. All right, so let's just take one deep breath in. Just exhale. And then as you inhale, you're just gonna go breathe in and like imagine all your thoughts and everything are going two inches below the belly. And then that belly is exhibiting as you inhale. And as you exhale, you release that energy, and it's a white vibrant light. You got me smiling.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you see, that's our true nature.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's good, right? And it's always there. We just it's our mind. It's all of the thoughts that gets us all. Oh, you know. It's nice, right?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, hold on.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, yeah. You're like, wait a minute.

SPEAKER_00

All right, we'll have to have you back and do like a whole breath work and that would be awesome. Because I feel like listening to that, because I had my eyes closed, right? Yeah, usually I'm used to talking on the podcast. I had my eyes closed, eyes closed listening to you. And it was just like a moment of like, ooh.

SPEAKER_04

The spaciousness. Yes, that's what that's the thing. We want to fill everything all the time, but that spaciousness is so important, you know, like space, like whether it's like with God, with source, with the universe, because when we have that space, then that's where the good stuff can come in, right? When we're like, you know, all the time with thoughts, with news, with insta, whatever's going on, with socials, like then there's no we're confused. We're like just packed, packed in too much. So it really does help me, especially with motherhood, with everything. Like, try to stay grounded because it can be like overwhelming, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I know what you mean. Honestly, I'm gonna use some of that today. Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you just kind of like reset. It only takes a minute. You don't have to, and my my Reiki um master teacher says, like, you're better off doing like two minutes of like focused breath like that than doing 30 minutes and you're like on your phone or you're just kind of like whatever.

SPEAKER_00

You know, you're better stuck doing that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like what we did right now, even if you joined us for that, like that's more powerful and and is more beneficial than just like you know, doing a bunch of different things at the same time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, definitely, yeah. Well, we're gonna jam out in a second.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I'm so excited. I asked for this, yes.

SPEAKER_00

You did ask for this, but we love to do this anyway.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yes, yes. This is true.

SPEAKER_00

This is true, this is true. So before we do that, um go check out the Patreon. So we'll we can't put the music on on the audio and YouTube and all that, I'll tell you that. But we're gonna jam out in a sec because ooh, we were jamming out when you walked in. Yes, we're jamming out before camera. Oh, I think we jammed out a little bit at the beginning, and we're about to jam out again. Um, so if you want to last minute any share, promote anything. Oh quick little outro.

SPEAKER_00
