A Quick Guide To Hiring a Virtual Assistant

With the evolution of technology, it's important to have someone who can help you understand and adapt to these changes in order to help the businesses continue to expand. And is where Virtual Assistants come in. To get yourself a VA here is how you can hire one:

  1. Define the job description clearly - When creating a description, be as specific as possible, such as your needed amount of working hours, specific area of duties, specific tasks, and skillsets that you're searching for.
  2. Post-job opening strategically - Because businesses currently depend on the usage of the internet, there are websites where employers can post their job openings. You can utilize these websites as a virtual bulletin board.  Choose a platform that caters to your specific needs, like SmartVAs. We are a Virtual Assistant Agency that specializes in digital marketing services that are applicable to practically all online businesses today. This idea is to narrow down the gap between you and the best VA that you need.
  3. Consider budget and timezone wisely - You need to set a  budget that you are willing to work within in order to have a variety of people as potential VAs. VAs are self-employed individuals who work from home. The time zone in which a virtual assistant is located is critical for your business before you begin communicating with them and scheduling interviews.
  4. Maximize the screening process thoroughly - Unlike face-to-face interviews, which are not applicable to independent contractors such as VAs, interviewers connect with the interviewee thoroughly. Because the interview is conducted online, the interviewer must be aware of the interviewee's tone of voice, ability to communicate, and facial expressions. It is also vital to ask casual questions during the interview to determine whether you and your potential hire would be able to connect. Also, ensure that he or she has a strong internet connection, as this is one of the most critical parameters in working as a VA online.
  5. Discuss the compensation plan - It is critical to layout the compensation plan clearly for all parties to have a good working relationship between you and your potential hire.
  6. Hand-off task incrementally - To avoid overwhelming them with the tasks, start small and give them time to learn what works and what doesn't for you, them, and your business.
