Chronicles of the End Times
Occasionally, people say, are we really in the last days? How do we know? Does it matter one way or another? We will try to answer these questions and many others in this study. But the most important question may be, how can we reach others with hope in these changing times? One part of prophecy is often emphasized over another, causing us to lose perspective and miss the blessing and beauty of prophecy in scripture. I have taken the information in this study from many authors and teachers who have their lives studying God's word. I have added some insight that the Holy Spirit taught me. With God's help, I have endeavored to keep the whole counsel of the word of God in full view to give us an accurate picture of Christ and His great love for a lost world. I pray that this will challenge you and cause you to grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, as it has me preparing it. Let's begin!
Chronicles of the End Times
From Rapture Fixation To Spirit-Led Mission
Headlines are loud, but the Spirit’s breeze is louder if you know how to listen. Today we press pause on rapture obsession and turn our attention to a richer biblical picture: the latter rain. Drawing from Israel’s farming calendar, we unpack how early rains began the work at sowing and latter rains finished the grain for harvest—and why that matters for a restless world and a weary church. The goal isn’t to chase auroras, blood moons, or viral predictions. The goal is to align our hearts with what God cares about most: people.
We trace the thread from Pentecost’s early rain to the promised outpouring that ripens character and readies the harvest. Along the way, we name the holy dissatisfaction many feel across generations and nations—a Spirit-led stirring that loosens apathy and opens searching eyes. Instead of treating revival like a spectacle, we frame it as formation: repentance that restores tenderness, holiness that heals, and love that becomes visible in ordinary places. The Spirit does not merely start our journey; he finishes it, shaping the moral image of God in us so we can serve as living invitations to grace.
You’ll hear a clear call to discernment: if a sign isn’t grounded in Scripture and confirmed by Scripture, it doesn’t set our agenda. Our focus shifts from timelines to people—those far from faith, and those inside the church who have lost sensitivity to sin and to the Spirit’s whisper. With hope and urgency, we explore how to pray, act, and love in a season that may bring millions into the kingdom, not through hype but through the steady rain of mercy and truth.
If this conversation helps you re-center on God’s heart, share it with a friend, subscribe for more, and leave a review to spread the word. What would the latter rain look like on your street?

Welcome everyone. This is Russ Scalzo Chronicles of the End Times. Good to be with you today. Today, we're going to think about and investigate the rapture of the church and try to dispel some of the misnomers that go along with it. It seems that we, as the Church of Jesus Christ, are too focused on the rapture and not focused enough on what God has called us to do. Now, that doesn't apply to everyone, as we all know, but it seems prevalent everywhere I look. So we're going to talk about what is on God’s heart right now. And I can tell you without wavering that it is you and I and those who have yet to come to the saving grace and be washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and taken out of the darkness and into the light. So we're going to discuss the latter rain. Now, many of you may have heard this term. Some may have studied it, but others may not be acquainted with it. The latter rain talks about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the last days. What is the Word of God talking about when it speaks of the former rain and the latter rain? There were two seasons of the year in which the rain fell abundantly. In the latter part of October and early November, the Hebrew month of Cheshvan, the early rains came. The second downpour came in the spring, in the latter part of March and the first part of April, the Hebrew month of Nisan. The October-November rains were called the early rain, and the March-April rains were called the latter rain. And both of these, in a spiritual sense, represent the work of the Holy Spirit. In the world today, we can see the disturbance. People are unsatisfied. People are yearning for something else. And many of them don't know what it is. But they know that something is wrong, something is not right. And we can see the liberal left all over the world pushing their agenda on the rest of us. And the younger people around the world, in every country. It's happening everywhere. China and South Korea. It's happening in Africa. It's happening in the Middle East and parts of Europe. Where this younger generation is demonstrating in the streets. It's happening in Mexico right now. And they are done with things being turned upside down. And, like I said, many of these probably don’t know why they're dissatisfied, why they're so troubled. But it's God. God is doing it. Did you know that in your own life, God stirs us up, doesn't he? We've had it with certain things, or you get to a place where you're just out of energy, you're exhausted, you're like done with the way the world is going. In the Old Testament, where it talks about Lot, it says he was vexed in his spirit. He was constantly troubled because he was in a place where he shouldn't have been, surrounded by people who had no use for God and wanted to live the way they wanted to live, and no one was going to tell them any different. But God begins to stir a person’s spirit. And when that happens, he makes us uneasy. He makes us look up and look around. And we may not be sure what we're looking for, but we know that there's something more than what the world is shoving down our throat. And it's not giving us peace, and we have no peace. And that is God also. God is not only the giver of peace, but he's the revelator of peace. He will guide us towards that light when we start to get hungry, when we leave our apathy and begin to look for answers. In the east, the former rains were at the sowing time. The seed must germinate. So it's under the influence of the fertilizing showers that the tender roots spring up, and the latter rain, falling near the close of the season, ripens the grain and prepares it for the sickle. So we see that the latter rain prepares for the harvest, as the dew and rain are given first to cause the seed to germinate, then to ripen the harvest, so that the Holy Spirit is given to carry forward, from one stage to another, the process of spiritual growth. The ripening of the grain represents the completion of the work of God's grace in our souls. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the moral image of God is perfected in the character. We are wholly transformed into the likeness of Christ. That's powerful stuff. The two seasons of rain in the land of Canaan symbolize the great visitations of the Holy Spirit. One at the beginning of the gospel dispensation, as the Holy Spirit fell at Pentecost, and then one in the latter days. We are now living in the latter rain. And that's important for us to realize. What we are seeing today is God stirring the pot for the latter rain. And the Spirit of God will fall, and it will pour down, and not thousands will be saved, but millions. And I know I've said this so many times, but it's so clear that the good and the evil, the righteous and the unrighteous, are moving together at great speed towards the end. Much evil and deception is going on in the world today. There are more hurt and broken people than ever around us. And God is concerned about that. As we move closer and closer each day, each moment towards the coming of Jesus Christ, there are two things God will do. He's going to reach out to the entire world through the power of the Holy Spirit, calling people to repentance. Open their eyes to who he is, and they will fall in love with him, and everything else will fade away, just like it did for those who know him now. And then the judgment will come. So if we're looking for the rapture every single day, and we're thinking about, well, you know, I saw the Aurora Borealis in the sky, it was so different, and people are seeing it in different and unusual places. That's a sign of the times. No, it's not. Oh, we see a blood moon, and we can't wait to talk about the blood moon. That's the sign of the times. The rapture's coming. No, it's not. If it isn't in the Word of God and made clear, and if one scripture doesn't testify to the other scripture, then you don't have anything. We need to keep our eyes on what God has his eyes on, and that's the unsaved of this world. And that's those in the church who have fallen asleep, who have lost their sensitivity to sin. They've lost their sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, because things that should bother us don't. That's a problem. And God wants to solve that problem. So the latter rain is coming, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and it will open eyes and turn people to repentance, and they will be renewed and changed all before God calls his church home. For he says in Ezekiel that I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that I wish that they would turn from their sins and repent. That's the heart of God. So, church, what should be in our hearts today? The same thing that's in the heart of God, and that's people. People who need to be touched, delivered, healed, and mended by the power of the Holy Spirit. That should be in our prayers. We should feel God’s heartbeat. I will end with this: there is none like the Lord. There is no God on this earth. He's the only one. There are other gods, but they're false gods, gods inspired by demons, by fallen angels. But there's only one who loves, and there's only one who's created us to be with him forever, and that's the Lord Jesus Christ, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit. So, let's keep our ears to the ground so we can hear what God's doing. We can feel the rumble. We can feel the breeze blowing through the trees, the breeze of the Holy Spirit, and know that yes, the time is coming. God bless you. Keep living for Jesus. This is Russ Scalzo for Chronicles of the End Times. Keep looking up. The King is coming.
