Reset and Reboot: Reimagining Goal setting and Execution
Setting goals for the New Year or periodically during the year is an exciting activity because we feel we are resetting and starting with a clear sense of direction and purpose.
But often, although we start off with great intentions, we fall off halfway through the month for a variety of reasons. I know, because I have followed the same pattern over and over, with not just New Year Resolutions but throughout the year.
That is why, this New Year I am going to do something different. I am going to use new and proven tools to help me take control of my life and schedule.
Do you want to take control of your life and make your dreams a reality?

to exercise more I am going to work on my relationship with my spouse..
2023 is going to be so much better. I'm going to work out more. I'm going to eat healthier. I'm going to catch up on my sleep. I am going to work on new career goals and ambitions. I am going to dash. How many of us start the new year with new resolutions, all excited about what we're going to do next. There is something about the New Year and making resolutions that is so very energizing. And it is just that time of the year when everything is new, everything is exciting. Everything is. Fresh and brand spanking new, and we want to do something with it. And yet how many times does it happen that we start off with great intentions. And then by the second or third week we missed that first day of workout. We missed eating healthier. We give that up for a day. Thinking that we'll pick it up again the next day or the way they after. And then what happens once you've missed it for a day or two? It's so much easier to continue missing. And by the end of that week, You are disappointed with yourself. You give up. And you just think it, that's not going to happen for you anymore. And then what happens by January 31st, most of us have given up on our new year resolutions. This year, I'm going to try something different because I've been the same as well. I would make new year resolutions. For my weight for all the things that I wanted to do in my life all at once. And then it became so overwhelming. That by day. 20. I was getting up on them. Now this year, I'm going to try something new and I'd like to invite you along on that journey with me. This is a Leadership Prescription Podcast for Women Physicians. And I'm your host, Dr. Asha Padmanabhan. I'm a full-time practicing clinical anesthesiologist and I am a master sort of physician coach. And a positive intelligence coach. I coach women physicians in Korea, transformation and fulfillment and living their best lives ever. While you are working and without sacrificing your family. And your personal self. So new your resolutions. Re-imagined. This is how I'm going to do things differently this year. I'm going to start, firstly, by taking out my wheel of life worksheet and sitting down with it in the next week. And I am going to map out where I. I am in eight different areas of my life. If you haven't used the wheel of life before. I'm going to put a link for one in my in the show notes here. And you can download it. I'm going to look at eight different areas of my life. Which would be something like help. Finances career. Personal growth. Relationships. Spirituality. My fun and leisure time. Eight different ones in different categories, which would represent a balanced life for me. And then I'm going to score myself. From zero to 10 on where I am currently each of these areas of my life. Then I'm going to look at. Where I want to be by the end of 2023. But. This is what I'm going to do things a little differently instead of. Doing what I've done so far, which is make long-term goals by the end of 2023. This is what I want in my work and my business and my health. Instead of that, I'm going to break it down. I'm going to do, what's called a 12 week year. I've been reading a lot about it. And if you haven't read it before, it's a book called the 12 week year by Michael. Lennington and Brian P. Moran. And you can Google it, or it is a popular book. You can find it. So I've been reading it. And it seems so doable and such a different way to look at things. That this is what I'm going to try. So what I'm going to do is pick out three areas of my life from my real flight, from the eight different areas. Of my life. I'm just going to pick three. And then I'm going to. Figure out Where I am there on that scale of zero to 10. And then how can I make it? As close to a ten as possible, what would it take to make it a 10? For me. Again, this was very individual. So just for me. For example, I might pick the, goal of health. And it could be that I am currently at a three. And what a three means for me is that I'm really not working out. I am. Not doing what I want to do in terms of my physical fitness. And so I, my decide that's one area that I want to work on. Now what would be a 10 in that area for me, or if I'm going for a three, even what would be an eight in that area. And for me, that could be an eight, could be that I am consistently exercising. At least three days a week. And those three days and consistently doing at least 15 minutes a day for you, it could be very different. You would want to be. Maybe work out. Oh, an hour. For three times a week, an hour, five times a week, whatever it is that makes that eight for you or 10 for you, you pick that. That's what I'm going to do is I'm going to pick what makes it an eight for me. And then I'm going to pick the two other areas of my life, where I'm going to want to go from where I am currently to what could be an eight, nine or 10 for me. And then I'm going to set specific goals. Using the 12 year work week. Plan. And what that is creating very specific goals for each of these areas that I want to work on. And break it down week by week on what I want to achieve in one week. I have seen that when I make grandiose goals, like I want to. Work out. Seven days a week. I started off. Great. And then I stopped. So this time around, I'm going to make it very actionable. And very achievable. Because again, human nature being what it is. Once we start not achieving our goals, we tend to slack off and fall off and become unmotivated. So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to set really specific goals that are achievable for me. That then I can build on. So week one might look something like, I'm going to work out five. Minutes for three days. The first week, then we too might look like. I am going to work out for. Seven minutes, three times a week. You'll get the idea. So I'm going to break it down into that 12 week year. So by the end of the 12 weeks, I can achieve that first goal that I set out to do. And this way I can also measure by the end of week one, if I realized that I couldn't make that goal, then I can figure out exactly where I went wrong or what was stopping me. And then I can course-correct. Within that week instead of making those long-term goals and then having to. Fall back and give up. It makes it much easier, right? So that's what I am planning to do. No. Do you want to join me in this journey? Because if you do, I am going to link up to a. Workshop that I'm doing for my coaching clients, that I'm going to welcome everyone to this workshop, it's going to be a reset and reboot for 2023, where we're going to work on each of our individual reel of life together. And we're going to pick. Three areas to work on and we are going to create a 12 week action plan for each of us. Which you don't have to share in public, but it is something that we're all going to do together. And we're going to keep each other accountable. Those 12 weeks. And who knows if we love it, we're going to continue doing it. But this is something I'm really excited to be doing. And I invite you. To come join me on this journey. I'm going to put a link to the workshop, which will be on January 4th, 2023. I'm going to put a link to that workshop. In the show notes and on social media. So come join me and reset and reboot your 23. Intentionally and. Create. The best first quarter. Of your 2023 together with me. And my group. If you liked this episode, please.
