During this seasonal break for the Mountain Practice Journeys podcast, I wanted to hop in and give you a bonus episode related to the season and what it has to offer us. I want to provide some Spring inspiration for you and your practice.

Within the life cycle, Spring symbolizes birth. Spring is a time of new beginnings and renewal. The earth is awakening from its Winter slumber and is bringing forth new life. There’s a rejuvenating effect as life begins to move from the inside to the outside. Spring is a time to come up with fresh, new ideas; start new projects; and embark on new journeys.

The symbolism of Spring is often likened to sewing seeds. This metaphor is so powerful for your private practice. Planting the seeds of your business is paramount to its success and sustainability. Patience is a virtue as you are starting a business. Be sure to listen (or re-listen) to episode 2 if you need a refresher on cultivating patience in your private practice.

This Spring you will likely be sewing the seeds of your private practice. This may look like reaching out to a colleague that could be a potential referral source, or working on that new idea you have for a group or workshop, or maybe you are revising your website to better reflect your ideal clients.

And you are not likely to see immediate results from any of these actions. The colleague you met with for coffee may not send you a client for another month. You may not have any signups for your first group. Or you may not see an increase in your ideal clients until your website revisions have been up for several months.

This lack of immediate results is NOT a sign that your efforts were in vain. There IS something happening underneath the surface - a tiny little miracle that you just can’t see yet. So, do not give up. Slow, consistent action over time will build a much stronger foundation than a speedy rise to the top.

When you plant a seed, there is a period of time where it looks like nothing is happening. In fact, you may doubt that a plant will even grow. The same is true in your practice. In the beginning you are putting in a lot of effort and it can sometimes seem as though nothing is happening. But rest assured, it is.

There’s a reason why I am doing these seasonal bonus episodes. You will go through seasons in your life. Even your private practice will go through seasons. It is nature. You can either begin to understand and accept the natural rhythms of the seasons, or you can fight against the change that they bring and end up suffering as a result.

Change is inevitable. Change is oftentimes hard. But through change we grow. What knowledge can you take from Spring? And how can you apply it in both your life and your practice?

With every season, I want to leave you with this quote from Gary Zukav: “We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.”

Thank you for joining me today for a little Spring inspiration. I’ll be back soon with a new season of the Mountain Practice Journeys podcast. In the meantime, hang out with me over on instagram @mountainpracticejourneys

Happy Spring!
