Affective forecasting refers to the prediction of one's future emotions. It may surprise you that we are terrible at this. As a result, we tend to make poor decisions based on this faulty thinking. The Nobel Prize winner Dr. Daniel Kahneman delves into this phenomenon and what is referred to as the focusing illusion in his classic book "Thinking Fast and Slow".
