We're celebrating five years of the Called by God podcast by reflecting on our journey and the commitment to continue sharing powerful testimonies regardless of circumstances.

• The podcast began with a commitment that "the show must continue" even when hosts couldn't be present
• Looking back at our original logo with three doves representing the Trinity and our evolution to the Lion of Judah
• Powerful testimonies like Angelina McClinton's story have connected listeners with resources for their own struggles
• The importance of focusing on reaching the one person who needs your message rather than obsessing over view counts
• The pandemic unexpectedly connected believers nationally and globally, expanding our understanding of the universal church
• Remembering guests who have passed away but whose testimonies continue to impact lives
• Raising awareness about men who experience domestic violence and the need to hear their stories too

Speaker 1:

And I would love, love, love, love, love to have a conversation with a brother in the body of Christ who survived, because, yes, you can hear the women's voice. Women will always be heard, but I believe we have to raise awareness.

Speaker 2:

So, first of all, first of all, first of all, if we go back to the beginning and we gotta, we gotta be real, real quick. We want to make this episode about 20 minutes long, so it's going to be quick. I'm going to see if I can share my screen If I go back to the archives right, there is so for those that are watching, when we initially started this podcast when we started this podcast in 2020, we said you know what? We need to have a meeting, let's have a meeting, and we had a meeting, and I'm not going to go everything that we talked about the meeting, but I want to mention the one thing that was said in the meeting. You're ready to know I'm going with this, addie.

Speaker 1:

You're going to go into spiritual attack when this podcast launches?

Speaker 2:

Well, not that part. The other part was like I said if anybody is missing, the show must continue.

Speaker 1:

Yep, I don't know how but the show must continue.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and it says that life happened burnouts so if you're going to be absent, it said, hey, just let somebody know yeah but I think one of the things is that if, if you're, if you're going through something still got to continue the podcast life doesn't stop, yeah, so. So that's the beginning, adni, it's no matter what's going on in our lives, the show must continue.

Speaker 1:

And it's always been that way. If you can't make it and I could record. I'm recording If. I can't make it and you could record. You're recording.

Speaker 2:

I'm recording.

Speaker 1:

And, of course, when we had our other host with us, none of us was able to make it. He could, he was recording. So it was one of those things that is like you don't stop just because somebody is not able to be present. If it's two, that could do it without the three. That's how it was done and, guess what, that's how it's continued. Right, it was three, now it's two. The Lord has typically sometimes put in the spirit to put another person there, but it seems as though he's like nah, it's good with the two, so let's just keep it that way. And if he changes that, then he changes it. But we know that the show must go on regardless. If I got to record something by myself and I don't have a co-host or a person to record a biblical character with do the study, Come and do the recording and talk about that person and keep it moving.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, speaking of you, know, I know this is about the anniversary man, shout out to Angelina McClinton and shout out to your your episode. I know y'all tied those two episodes together. It was a wonderful episode. So, sister Angelina McClinton, if you listening to this or watching us, shout out to you.

Speaker 2:

You did a real great job with your testimony, man. This was a phenomenal story how she got involved in a gay-lesbian relationship and then how God delivered her from that. So that was a wonderful story and even listening to your take Adni oh man, well, I said that sister was like filled in the Holy Spirit. I give God the glory. She was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 1:

Let me tell you I had a sister listen to her episode and reach out to me and said she wanted to connect with her because her daughter is going through that and she needed assistance. So, again, you never know, oh really, yeah, she reached out. She said I need to connect with this sister. Yeah, she reached out. She said I need to connect with this sister. Can you hook us up? Can you connect us?

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, and that's something that to me, honestly, is the blessing of the podcast, because if I know somebody or you know somebody, and they know that this person has gone through this and they could help them, and they reach out and say, hey, nick, I'm dealing with this, can you hook me with this person? Or Adni, I'm dealing with this right now. Can you hook me up with this person? I thought that was powerful, wow.

Speaker 2:

That was so, so powerful. Yeah, your episode, I edited it. So while I was editing your episode, I was like, wow, this is so powerful. And episode. I was like, wow, this is so powerful and everything you said was just so profound. I know it wasn't you speaking, I know it was the Holy Spirit. I know it was the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 1:

I said this is just Because I was about to cut it off and let me tell you if my spirit decided I was like you know you just be making me say too much stuff, okay. It was time, it was time, it was time, it was time, it was time I was like you just be making me say too much stuff like some, some stuff people don't need to know, and it was god said it's my story, but the archives let's get to the archives.

Speaker 2:

Sorry y'all, we just got distracted, so first of all I want to go back. So let me go back to the old logo okay, I want to share the old logo and I want to give you a visual of the old logo. Wow, look at that. You remember that logo. So it was I remember that logo had a cross with the water, the three doves, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And then you got the cross in the water and then you see, like when a person get baptized, you see the light shining upon them. And then it said Call by God podcast. And then you see in the C, the letter C has like a telephone, Like you can see, like it looks like a telephone. Yeah, can see, it looks like a telephone. That's the old logo. This is the throwback logo. Wow wow, you see that then of course. Now then we got the line of judah yeah, the new logo, yeah, the new logo.

Speaker 1:

And and folks already know how that look like- yeah, because they can see it in your background right now yeah, that's the yeah, that's the new logo, right there new logo the line of judah and hopefully we'll change it again.

Speaker 2:

We'll change it. I was sharing this with somebody today and I know we got like 15 minutes. I was sharing this and I'm like man, I would love to create a podcast same platform, just talking to just the sheep, because I said, I said the podcast. I'm not talking to a multitude, I'm talking to the sheep.

Speaker 1:

I'm talking to one sheep Because I said, I said the podcast, I'm not talking to a multitude. I'm talking to the sheep, I'm talking to one sheep yeah, I'm talking to the one sheep.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, somebody need a word, because when people get so caught up with numbers oh man, I only got like three views, I only got like five views, 10 views it makes them want to give up. It's like they forgot, forgot their. Why? Why are you doing it?

Speaker 1:

It's like the preachers, right, you focus so much on the thighs of the church that you don't realize that there's somebody in that big old size that's lost. And they may be members, but they're lost because we focus so much on quantity and we don't realize, like you said, the one there's, that there's a there is. You know. It says um, christ says that um, he leaves the 99 and goes after the one. Sometimes you have to go after the one, and that one just may be somebody who is in the family.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Right. So when a person creates a podcast and you only see three views, don't focus on that Never. If I could say anything, never focus on the numbers, because numbers last sometimes, because some people sometimes they be with other people listening.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know, yeah, so you can't focus on the numbers. And if I was to encourage a person and, like you said, just always think about the why You're not doing this for you. You're doing it to give him glory Facts. He impregnates you with the idea you give birth to it. It ain't got nothing to do with you, you're just the breath behind the assignment. And I think that if I could encourage any podcaster, especially one who is a disciple of Christ seeking to glorify God, don't look at numbers, keep your eyes on the main thing the creator of heaven.

Speaker 2:

He multiplies Amen. That's well said. So I'm kind of like going back in archives. So I showed you the old logo and now you remember, when we had guests on, we did a guest briefing. So I got that too. I wanted to share that. So this was our guest briefing. You know where we talked about the things about the podcast. Yeah, we said that has been evolved.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah. But listen, I was reading it and I was like, wow Cause, look, we said our vision. We said we want our listeners excited about our guests and their testimonies. Also, we want them to take action by sharing our episodes with friends and family via social media or any other platform. I say one thing worth mentioning Jesus Christ is the essential part of these shows. We want our listeners to identify how God called you to the body of Christ, amen. Yeah, so let me fast forward this and let me go to the FAQs. I think I have hosts. Yo, I'm not going to talk about the hosts and the calls, but the FAQs. So we do have FAQs.

Speaker 2:

We said what makes this podcast special? Listeners will hear real people talking about their God-given testimonies of salvation. I love testimonies, man. I love testimonies because when you see somebody or hear stories of people, that was when they was in a broken state and then God redeemed them and they're like a totally different person, like you got to give God the glory. You got to give God the glory. You got to give God the glory. So I love testimonies, I love it, I love it, I love it, amen. And it says who will listen to the show it's. Our target group is everybody. We're not limited to a certain group of people. Color is no. This is for everybody White, black, purple, blue, and if there's aliens, if aliens even exist.

Speaker 2:

It's for aliens too. Aliens don't exist.

Speaker 1:

I can't, I can't.

Speaker 2:

It's for everybody. But you know how. There are certain groups of religion practices that say, oh, you know, salvation is only for this group of people. Salvation is for everybody, everybody. It has nothing to do with color.

Speaker 1:

Jesus christ died for everybody it never did have anything to do with color. We're the ones that put color on it yeah, it's crazy, so okay.

Speaker 2:

So we said how long will? How long will we need for this interview? So this is it, this is the kicker, right? So the show we we usually do it for 20 30 minutes, but it never lasts 20 30 minutes. That's what we said. Never did it never did sometimes we go 45 minutes to an hour or maybe longer.

Speaker 1:

We've even gone. We've even gone two hours and we had to break the shows up yeah, we had to break that show up.

Speaker 2:

I think it was what was her episode Enough Was it? Enough is Enough.

Speaker 1:

We had. Enough is Enough. We had Fallon. What was Fallon's episode?

Speaker 2:

Was it? I Can See Clearly. I Can See Clearly.

Speaker 1:

I Can See Clearly Now, or something like that. Or I Can See Clearly yeah. Yeah, those were, oh my gosh, sister Pam Hempstead, her show. Her show was another one that had to get broken up.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, that's Come See a man. Come See a man, come See a man. Yes, her episode, sister man. I don't want to start calling out names, because you know you got to show me stuff.

Speaker 1:

Shout them out, shout them out, shout them out.

Speaker 2:

Sister Pamela Hempstead, we want to thank you again for being on the Called by God podcast. Your episode was phenomenal, along with all the episodes, all of them yeah. Sister Hempstead. They love your episode. They really do. They love your episode. Yeah, come see a man, you know, she's like raw and uncut, she told you she had to give you the nitty gritty.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, and that's the beauty of of the testimonies. You have people who are raw and uncut, and you have the people who are reserved because it's just like I don't know if people will receive it. And then you have the. You have the person that's in between. That's both raw and I don't know if this would be received, but they still put it out there.

Speaker 1:

So, we had. We we've had different caliber of guests. We've had the person that was reserved and just gave just a tinge. And before I even continue, because this just dropped in my spirit, we had a guest that passed last year, mama Roxton Green Price. I'll never forget when I recorded her. When I recorded with her, you were feeling well and you were in the background and she called but she said I think I need to record again because I didn't do good. And I said Mama, whatever you gave is what you were supposed to give. And I believe her segment was exactly what was needed. And thank you for shouting her out too.

Speaker 2:

She was definitely like a mother, like yeah, one thing I like about Mama Raj she used to text me or call me and she used to encourage me. She's like son, I see you Just keep doing what you're doing. It's so encouraging. And Adney, wow, I didn't even think you would mention her name, but yeah, she is definitely Miss.

Speaker 1:

Oh man she is definitely Miss. Oh man.

Speaker 2:

All I can say is oh man, you had also Papa.

Speaker 1:

Clyde? Right, Papa Clyde. Yeah, he passed away last year. He passed away. Yeah, so we have two people that we lost. Yeah, yeah, we lost two individuals.

Speaker 2:

That crazy old man. He was a God-fearing man, god-fearing man, hard-fighting soldier for the Lord.

Speaker 1:

Let me tell you that man was a really, truly a hard-fighting soldier for the Lord. When I told our minister of marriage, I didn't even know they knew each other. But then it was like duh, they're from the same era, right? You know, they did the conferences together and everything, so he knew a lot of people and it hurt when he passed. He was funny, very quirky, but again he gave a powerful testimony before the Lord took him home. So I'm grateful and I'm thankful for that. Now, you know, god allowed us to have them on the show and even for them to speak a life into us, you know. So yeah.

Speaker 2:

Everybody else on CBG podcast. They made part of history. They made history part of our history, God's history of CBG.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, this is going to be when we gone. This is still going to be.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, around, pass it to somebody else, right hey?

Speaker 1:

yeah, take over CBG Right. Please don't let it fall. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Wow, so I don't let it fall yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, wow. So I don't know. I put the hold on, let me put the, let me put it back up to the document. So here it is. So we had what is the secret ingredient of this show. They said we would love for our, our, my listeners to feel like they are eavesdropping on a few friends discussing one call, testimony and even purpose. So that's kind of like how we wanted to give it that feel. Let me tell you something the podcast was a blessing because you know, like you know, although the pandemic was like a curse to many, but it also was a blessing because we had the opportunity to meet other believers nationally. It's something that I didn't even phantom or even never would have thought about, like connecting with other believers like Texas, cali, new York, just everywhere. So it's just been a blessing knowing that there's other believers globally. We're not only limited to the spaces or the places that we worship.

Speaker 1:

That's what the purpose of the pandemic was. I think it really helped us to realize we are truly a universal church. Not just. You know, at the time I was a member of Hope Church of Christ, but now I'm at you know Bola Crest, and it's like, wow, I can listen to Southside Durham, I could listen to Southside Orlando, I could listen to Hope. I could this. Oh, and, by the way, I could connect with other people. Oh, and by the way, I could connect with other people.

Speaker 1:

I've met so many sisters because of the pandemic that probably would have never happened if the pandemic didn't happen. And I believe with every ounce and fiber of my being the Lord did not create the pandemic, but he sure enough used it to connect his children to each other. So many friendships were birthed from this. There were couples I know that met and got married from meeting because of the pandemic I was about to call it a plandemic and some people met and friendships have blossomed from it. Some friendships, you know, dissipated, but you still got a chance to meet people that you probably would have never. I probably would have never met if I was still in Florida. So I think I'm really grateful and thankful for that. I really am.

Speaker 2:

Yeah Well, we got three minutes since we're going back to the archives. But before I continue because I got to talk real fast, if you haven't done so already, we are doing a giveaway. We're giving a podcast mic, a pod mic. So just go on the website, wwwcallbygodpodcastcom and there's a link. It says Giveaway to Sippy. Click on that link so you can sign in to receive this podcast microphone. And also we're giving $100 gift card to I don't want to say lucky, a blessed winner, A blessed listener A blessed listener.

Speaker 2:

So we're definitely going to do a gift for $100, y'all $100. There's so much you could do. Well, there's a little that you could do with a hundred dollars, but it's more than what you probably have now.

Speaker 1:

Trust me.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so, but just remember that with the microphone it's only limited to people in the United States. So I'm sorry, international listeners, maybe I'll think about something, what I could do for y'all in the foreseeable future, considering that a lot of our listeners come from out of this country. Of course, United States is number one, but there are a lot of people outside of this country that listen to us, so we'll think about that. So, going back to the archives, adney, I wish I had time, I wish we had time about that. So, going back to the r, I mean going back to the archives, I add me, I wish I had time, I wish we had time. I would have showed you the video, uh, that we record together which one? It was a video that we must have recorded this like year one or year two.

Speaker 1:

I want to say year one was it all three of us, or just?

Speaker 2:

yeah it, it was the three of us. I'm going to see if I can.

Speaker 1:

It had to be year one.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, year one, so let me see.

Speaker 1:

Please show that, please show that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I got to find it and but before I search for it, let me do this. I got to share the website, just in case people don't understand what I'm referring to. So this is the website. Y in case people don't understand what I'm referring to. So this is the website, y'all. So wwwcallbygodpodcast. So here you click on five-year anniversary giveaway. You can sign into that. Also, this is the homepage. If you want to know a little bit about us, this is the about section. Right here are all the episodes. Some of them are categorized but they're not updated. Testimonies, purpose, biblical dialogues, domestic violence, our domestic violence episodes. Boy, those things be popping in October. When I mean popping, they be popping. I think I need to do more domestic violence episodes because a lot of I really honestly want us to find a man that survived domestic violence.

Speaker 1:

I know we focus a lot on the women, but God has given me a heart for men and I think it's because I have a son. There are men who suffer through domestic violence and they don't say anything. Because I'm a man, I'm not supposed to go through this and because I love a woman, because I honor her, I won't put my hands on her and she's literally putting her hands on me. There are men who have lost their lives as well to domestic violence, and I would love, love, love, love, love to have a conversation with a brother in the body of Christ who survived, because, yes, you can hear the women's voice. Women will always be heard, no-transcript. But men are being hit on as well by women.

Speaker 2:

Amen, amen, adni, look, time is well spent.

Speaker 1:

I gotta run.

Speaker 2:

If you want to continue this another day, or this is the yeah because, yeah, because I, I don't want to rush it, I definitely want to go back in the archives. I'll call it the archives, part two. Okay, finish it. But um, so, yeah, um, any final thoughts? Um, about the archives.

Speaker 1:

Let me tell you from my episode straddling the fence, part one and two, to where we are now. I am just so grateful and thankful that so many of you have been blessed. Our stories, the biblical characters have touched you. People who came on to share their testimony. You related to them. Thank you again, thank you for everything that just you sharing our stories and our testimonies, because that's how the podcast grows. So we want to say thank you.

Speaker 2:

Amen, that is well said. As I always say, remember that Jesus Christ, he is the King of Kings and he is the Lord of Lords. All right, be blessed.
