Abandoned homes and lots, and more specifically a convoluted and challenging process to clear title, present a major obstacle in efforts to improve home ownership in urban communities. Nowhere is this more pronounced than Memphis, where only 43% of African Americans own homes, compared with 62% of Whites. Convergence Memphis is an initiative led by the Mortgage Bankers Association and the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, bringing together industry and community leaders to address the issue. In this episode, attorney & closing agent Jeff McEvoy joins us to share progress.
