Ready to live YOUR life for YOU? 5 Actions to make it stick!
You've decided you want to live your life for YOU! Fucking awesome! Now let's make this decision stick? You will face objections, adversity, expectations and opinions of others, pressure to stay the same. Yep it will all come and when it does I, Rachel Freemon Sowers want you to have the tools to stay on YOUR path. Because it is the most important one. No, really it is.
I share five immediate actions to take after deciding to live life for yourself, that will help you stay focused and create the mind body connection that ensures your success. You'll want to stay till the end.
I emphasize the need to commit to your choice and stay true to yourself, despite resistance from others. I also highlights the power of affirmations and visualization in rewiring the brain and creating a new reality. These aren't the typical "fake it till you make it" affirmations that rarely equal results. I help you create affirmations that mean something to you. No cookie cutter affirmations here.
Here are some takeaways you can expect:
- Empowerment to commit to living your life on your own terms and break free from societal expectations.
- 5 actions to take today to create sustainable change

Like. It doesn't mean you get more. It means you sacrifice what you want. That's all that's happening. What if you could have more? And you having more equals other people having more? Ooh, mind-blown, mind-blown emoji.
Speaker 1:Hello, my beautiful friends, and welcome to another episode of Road to Radical Visibility. My name is Rachel Freeman-Sowers, the host and creator of this podcast, and if you have hung out here for very long, you will know that this podcast is all about empowering you to experience your life exactly the way you want to. Part of this is becoming radically visible to yourself, finding out what you actually want and doing the things that help you experience your life the way that you want to. I am so happy that you're here. Thank you for being here.
Speaker 1:Today's episode is part of my breaking my own rules era, and this is about really deciding that I am done living my life for other people. Let me know if you can relate. I am 52 years old now. I have gone through a reinvention for the last year and I continue to move towards the life I want to be living now in this season of my life, and I am excited about the changes. And yet there are things that can help you stick to how you want to be experiencing your life, or commit to how you want to be experiencing your life. When you're done living for other people, you're done living with other people's expectations, with other people's priorities, with other people's feelings and thoughts, with religious constructs, social constructs all the things you're ready to break free from that. Now, the first thing you have to do is commit right, and this episode is going to give you five things to do immediately after you decide to live your life exactly the way you want to. But before we dive, exactly the way you want to. But before we dive into that, I want to tell you about a product that's been helping me fulfill and experience my life the way that I want to, and the way that it does that. The way this product does that is, it allows my body to get the nutrients it needs and my ADHD brain what it needs in order to focus, to follow through, to commit to myself and to calm the fuck down.
Speaker 1:Sometimes, you know there's all of the things that are happening and when you decide to live your life for you instead of everybody else, it can cause a lot of waves in your life and it will continue to cause those ripple waves, because you're going to shake some shit up and people aren't going to understand and they're not going to know why and none of that's going to matter. For you to stay committed, you need to be able to focus in on yourself. You need to be able to be conscious, and one of the things I've been doing for myself is creating a new wholeness in the way that I am eating and what I'm putting into my body. One of the things that I've been using is called Magic Mind, and it is this little energy shot that is matcha-based, that is filled with nootropics, ashwagandha, turmeric, lion's mane, cordyceps and other aptogens that really help you improve your focus and memory, your productivity. It reduces inflammation in the body that is one thing that I need. It creates sharper brain functioning and it gives you that clean, non-jittery energy that will have you feeling like you can literally slay every single day of your life and you walk away from the day accomplishing what you want to accomplish and knowing what your priorities are and to be focused on that. If this is something that interests you and you want to give it a try right now, you can actually get a 20% off your order by using the code ROADRADICAL20. That's R-O-A-D-R-A-D-I-C-A-L-20 at wwwmagicmindcom forward slash ROADRADICAL at checkout.
Speaker 1:This is something that's worth a try. My ADHD brain has really benefited from mushrooms reducing inflammation through turmeric all of the things that are going to help me optimally live my life and experience in the way that I want. So, again, if you want to give it a try, this Magic Mind, it's easy to incorporate. It comes in a little shot bottle already. You stick it in your fridge. Every morning I get up, I shake it up, I take the lid off, I take the shot. It's the first thing that goes into my body. It allows my body to get those nutrients it needs and it really eliminates my 3 pm slump. I'll just be enthusiastic about that. So I don't have that 3 pm slump anymore. Again, the code is ROADRADICAL20 at wwwmagicmindcom forward slash ROADRADICAL at checkout. I can't wait to hear what you think about it. Okay, my friends, let's dive in.
Speaker 1:This episode has come about because I have experienced a massive shift over the last several years in coming into my own way of living and experiencing my life the way that I want to. I see this consistent with other people that are my age. It doesn't matter, it's male, female people in the LGBTQ plus, we're just tired of living our lives according to everybody else's constructs, expectations, opinions, all of those things, the beliefs that aren't ours in the first place. And so I've been going through this reinvention, and it's been a journey and a process, and because I'm not the only one that's going through it, I thought why not share five things to do immediately once you decide I'm not living my life for other people? Because, let's just be honest, other people aren't going to like it. You're going to stir the pot, you're going to act differently. Everything is in a system, so the system is used to operating the way it is, and people will fight in that system to keep it the same. And that's why, if you're someone that speaks up, if you advocate, you get a lot of resistance, because people are like don't fuck with the system. Like this is how we do it, like this is how we've always done it.
Speaker 1:I mean, I think back to COVID. I went online with my business in 2019 in February, way before COVID, and people were asking me then are you sure you're going to be able to do it how COVID? And people were asking me then are you sure you're going to be able to do it? How are you going to make money? I was like I can figure this out, I know I can do it right. That was the confidence. And every time before then, all of these companies said we can't have you work remote, you can't work from home. It was all about freaking control and their inability to picture something, the way that it could be and how it could work. Right. That's the beauty of an ADHD brain. I don't know about yours, but I can see something and I can see how it was going to work in the bigger picture, right.
Speaker 1:Then 2020 comes, and then everyone has to work remote. And now they're trying to say you have to come back into the office. Like there are levels of control here. Now, if you are a forward-based, customer-based business, I could understand having people, but there are so many things that people can do remotely, and if you were making money off the people remotely and they weren't in the office, why can't that just continue? Anyway, that's a little side note. I'm going to get off my soapbox now, all right. So if I go back to the five things, these are the things you want to do immediately after deciding, because you need to affirm and commit to your choice. Things are going to happen. You're going to come up against resistance, you're going to want to go into old patterns. These five things will help you.
Speaker 1:The first thing is is you write it down. I am a visual person. If you were to see the bottom of my computer, I have one, two, three sticky notes that remind me of things that I am intentional about, the things that I want to experience in my life, and I remind myself of this every day. This is where writing it down. I don't care if you make a piece of art and it reminds you. I don't care if you make a list, I don't care if you use sticky notes. Write it down so you remember what you want. This is what you want. It's not what you have to do. It's not what you need to do. You want to do it, therefore, because you want a certain result in your life. You want to experience a certain thing.
Speaker 1:Number two is visualize yourself. I will preach this to the moon and back and back, and back and back again. Visualization is the number one way to quickly rewire your brain and create a new reality, because you tell your brain what is real, you say what you want and when. You can imagine it and incorporate that into the feeling of your body. You will then make the shift, because we often hear that trauma sticks with the body Absolutely. But I'm here to tell you the good shit can stick in your body too. To tell you the good shit can stick in your body too. I mean, like, think about it. The good things you experience can be experienced over and over again from the feeling that you create, from that it's not only trauma. So give yourself an opportunity to visualize, to feel the good things over and over and over again, and then your body will know it's safe to do so. And over and over again, and then your body will know it's safe to do so. Then your body stops overwhelming your brain. The emotions die down, those voices in your head. They start knowing that it's safe to do something different.
Speaker 1:Okay, number three is you are going to take action. You're going to take small, incremental action, and in these actions you're going to listen to yourself. So here's the deal you know what to do, you do. If you're struggling to determine or discern whether the voice that you're hearing is your intuition or fear, reach out to me. I'll help you discern that. I'll also do another video on it.
Speaker 1:When you take action, it is small, incremental steps and every single time you go to take an action and the thought in your head is like, oh my God, we shouldn't do this, are we sure we want to do this? Like this could happen, we might miss out on this. You have to turn to that part of you that says this is what we need to do, your intuition. You have to listen to that and take the action. If you don't take the action, you are micro betraying yourself every single time. You don't say yes to what you know is right for you. That then only increases the dysfunctional patterns or those patterns that are keeping you stuck and are no longer helpful. So we need to turn to that part of you and take the action by you. Listen and take the action right.
Speaker 1:Number four is affirm yourself, whether you do it through a song, a music. I do this all the time. I have certain playlists in my Spotify. They are for certain things. I listen to those playlists, I sing those songs, I get the music.
Speaker 1:Adhd brain, again, is very artistic for me. I love music, I love art. So I affirm myself every day. So I have those sticky notes, like I mentioned before, I listen to certain types of music. I don't listen to things that aren't helpful to me. I won't listen to that stupid Taylor Swift song that says, hey, it's me, I'm, the problem is me. Like I don't fucking need to be reminded. I'm a problem again. My whole entire life I was reminded that that's not for me. No, thank you, someone else can take all that shame and guilt and all that bullshit. I, all that shame and guilt and all that bullshit. I am not the problem, I am the power in my own life. You are the power in your own life.
Speaker 1:Oftentimes we look to see what is wrong. What do we need to fix? I have the power to shift. I have the power to be whole completely right now. No-transcript, right? I mean, like you put on, you do what you need to do. None of this is silly. None of this means you're weak. None of this means that, oh my God, I have to have all these reminders. No, I have all these reminders because I want them, because I want to experience my life a certain way. All this comes back to how do you want to experience your life? How do you want to experience the situation you're in right now. If you're in a situation you don't want to be there, experience the situation you're in right now. If you're in a situation you don't want to be there, then get out. It's not easy.
Speaker 1:I've been a therapist for over 25 years. I help people every single day leave the experiences they don't want to be having and to have the confidence and the courage internal safety to do so. This is the same thing with patterns, right? So if you affirm yourself and you're like, oh, oh my God, well, that's not really true. This isn't about being like, oh my God, like I'm going to have a million dollars and I'm just going to manifest all this stuff, I mean, that may work for some people. It's never worked for me. I have my feet on the ground. I'm a tourist, I have my feet on the ground. I'm like, okay, listen, these are the things I need to do to make that happen. I am powerful. I am the creator of my own life. I am creating my reality every single day, like those things that you know. This is your words, these are your things that come from that knowing part of you. This is what the affirmation is right, and you can make it fluff if that helps you. You can make it real if it helps you.
Speaker 1:Every single day, I choose what I want in my life. I am not bound by the expectations, opinions or constructs of others. I experience freedom when I experience my life the way that I want to. I will not be missing out on something if I choose to be where I am, I'm not missing out. I'm exactly where I need to be. Everything is working in my favor. Try any of those on. If any of those speak to you, reach out to me, let me know on all my social channels.
Speaker 1:Number five is being conscious. Some people call it mindful, some people call it intentional, some people call it aware. You have to be conscious of your own life. I had a client say to me I just feel like I've numbed out so much of my life. I don't, I can't feel anything. And as he and I are walking through this process, he's like I don't want to be numb anymore, I want to be conscious. But this requires you to believe that it is beneficial for you to be conscious, to release old patterns, to say I am now worth. Oh, here we go. I am now worth my attention, I am now worth. Nope, I can't do it because I have all the kids over here and I have to do this for this person, I have to do this for work, and then we get outside of ourselves. Friend, friend, please come back within yourself.
Speaker 1:Remind yourself on the daily what you want, why you want it, and I don't mean why like, why do I want this? Oh, I want it because this. Well, I want it because I want it. You know, oftentimes when we say we want more, it can feel like shame and guilt. I shouldn't want more. I did a lot of work over the last several years, but one of the things that has stayed with me, with one person that I worked with, as she said to me she's like Rachel.
Speaker 1:You realize that when you sacrifice things for yourself, it doesn't mean other people get more. I was like, holy, fuck around, like it doesn't mean you get more, it means you sacrifice what you want. That's all that's happening. What if you could have more, and you having more equals other people having more, you having more equals other people having more? Mind blown, mind blown emoji. I mean like, seriously, what if that's what it meant? Hmm, just play with that possibility. Play with it, let it roll around in your brain. What if my self-sacrifice doesn't make the world a better place? I gotta take a minute, because that's hitting me even now, and all of church. All I was taught to self-sacrifice, giving up what I wanted. I'm not fucking doing that anymore, and I hope that you don't either, because it doesn't equal better. It doesn't. I might get some flag for that. Oh well, there you go.
Speaker 1:There's the five things. Write it down, visualize it, take action, affirm yourself and be conscious. Give yourself the commitment. Say that you were worthy of your energy in your time because, my friend, you are all right. I'm gonna leave it there for now. I will end this podcast. I get into every single podcast. Please make sure to stay true to yourself, be kind to others and always, always, honor the wise one within you. I will see you all on the next road to radical visibility.
