Show Notes

In Episode 56 I chat with Irish musician and producer Daithí Ó Drónaí who performs  under the name Daithí  about necessary meditation, gear nerves and Irish animé.

Best known for producing electronic music inspired by Irish culture, Daithí has been nominated for both an IFTA for his film score work on the move Lakelands and Choice Music Prizes for his singles "Chameleon Life" and "Mary Keanes Introduction He has supported the likes of DJ Shadow, The XX, Disclosure, Santigold, Mackelmore and Duke Dumont.

He is a member of Irish band HousePlants along with Bell X1's Paul Noonan and on top of all that he runs an artists retreat called the Beekeeprs in the remote Burren region of County Clare. You may also know him from hit time on The All Ireland Talent Show way back in 2009, if you wanna see his performance there is a clip on youtube.

On today's episode Daithí joins us from his newly minted home studio in his hometown of Ballyvaughan to  tell us how exactly he ended up recording John Romero's audiobook, why he owes his first paycheque from music to The XX and how influential the vinyl disco culture was for his musicianship while he lived in Galway.
