1:08
hello everyone and welcome to another episode of good times with bad movies i'm tim morrison joined as always by my
1:14
wonderful co-host the leader of the lollipop gang paul ireland paul how you doing
1:21
you know tim as uh as a representative of the lollipop kids i'm happy to say we're we're fantastic
1:28
today sir battling a little bit of an illness but uh that's okay how are you i'm great man
1:34
i feel really really good i'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling at your best right now but
1:39
i guess we're all going to get it at some point once maybe if you're lucky you won't but
1:45
everyone's going to get get the c word at some point yeah not cancer okay just like yeah just
1:53
so not cancer yeah just you know the the thing that gets you uh a health information strike on your your
1:59
video if you if you mention the name so you know just one of those things but that's okay we're just we're living in that time that's all right it's all good
2:05
man so this week i'm pretty excited for this i want to do this movie for a while but we just haven't really gotten around to
2:11
it and then it's kind of out of the blue paul suggested it kind of like reminded me that i suggested it a while ago and
2:17
figured you know what this is actually a really good idea and the movie we chose this week is called
2:23
return to oz maybe the return to oz either way it's the sequel to the wizard
2:30
of oz from like 1936 or 1938. paul have you ever seen this movie
2:36
before yes okay okay yes actually yeah maybe uh
2:42
keep this one light try to but yeah you know i i think i saw this
2:47
maybe once it's probably the first and only time i've ever seen this outside this podcast uh it was about like eight years old i remember my dad was like
2:55
a big wizard of oz fan like the original movie you know i remember it would be on tv like maybe once a year so him and i
3:02
would kind of we would sit down and watch it we would catch just a bit of it and i remember uh he came up to me one day and he's
3:07
like you know they made a sequel to the wizard of oz right and i was like really is it it's in theaters like we can just
3:13
go watch that right now and he's like no it's like it's been out for like 10 years but uh so it's like all right well like let's let's let's go watch this thing so
3:20
went to the video store picked it up went home you know i took it out put the vhs into
3:26
the machine and it was kind of at that moment tim i thought to myself
3:31
why did my dad want to ruin my childhood yeah he probably just wanted to freak
3:37
you out i mean he probably got you to watch it for the same reason that i kind of wanted to use it for the podcast
3:42
just to see the reaction it's it this is a nightmare movie if you like the first wizard of oz which i
3:49
think most people would say like that's a really nice movie but this is this is like a complete 180 of that
3:55
right like this is wild i i'm gonna beat this drum a couple times this uh this episode but this is a disney kids movie
4:03
so this movie was made by disney they owned the copy they owned the rights to the wizard of oz and i think near the
4:10
mid 80s they were in the conundrum where if they didn't publish publish some sort of wizard of oz material they would end
4:16
up losing the rights so they kind of just shoved this movie out i think they've had this script for a while it's
4:21
actually based on the second book to in the wizard of oz series
4:27
so this won't be more this one would be considered more close to the original uh
4:33
material source material than the first movie was so anyways i would like to assume that
4:40
everybody in the world knows what the wizard of oz is however if you don't
4:45
i should probably give you a little bit of a run down here paul probably helped me along the way because it's a it's
4:50
kind of a weird story but anyway so it's a fantasy story about this girl named dorothy and her dog toto who
4:58
end up through some weird circumstances in a giant storm in this magical land of
5:04
oz and all she wants to do is get back home and
5:10
everyone in all these munchkins and these other people around her tell her that she needs to follow the yellow
5:15
brick road along this yellow brick road she finds three friends in a scarecrow a
5:22
lion and a tin man tin man wants a heart lion wants courage
5:27
the scarecrow wants brains long story short they walk the yellow
5:32
brick road they get all those things all the while they're being chased by the green wicked witch of the west
5:39
anyways at the end of the movie dorothy clicks her heels together three times wearing her ruby red slippers
5:46
uh we'll talk about those later anyway she clicked click those together three times and ended up back at home and
5:53
that's where the movie ended in the in the original uh wizard of oz there was definitely
5:59
some creepy stuff in that movie too right the the the wicked witch of the west she's pretty terrifying in this
6:05
movie you know even when you see her as just the normal lady before the storm happens it's like she's
6:11
just like she's there's something about that lady like oh this is just like a really mean nasty person
6:17
and then when she's the wicked witch is just like as a kid it scared the crap out of me but then
6:23
you know watching the sequel to this movie it scared me even further and it's just
6:29
like this movie took took this whole setting to a whole other level man and it's it's
6:35
incredible and also kind of shocking to me to find out that this is actually apparently more faithful to
6:41
the original source material because i've been like i've never read any of the books but man if this is what the
6:47
book is like wow i i can't believe that this is that's that's a it's a kids novel
6:53
yeah i should also add just to contrast this movie compared to the first one the first movie is a musical
7:00
uh you know the song you might have heard the songs follow the yellow brick road somewhere over the rainbow everybody
7:06
knows that song and there is probably like two or three others that everybody knows that like kind of if i only had a
7:13
brain we represent the lollipop kids come on that's my song tim what are you
7:18
talking about of course of course [Laughter] so
7:23
anyways in the sequel gone
7:28
are the silly midgets gone are the whimsical songs
7:34
gone is the charm and innocence of everything and this movie is much more
7:41
true to a dark fantasy film and as a matter of fact in most descriptions that i've seen of this movie they refer to it
7:48
as a dark fantasy and i don't think that that's the way they wanted it to come out when they were making it however
7:55
with i said it doesn't seem like they really wanted to make it make it a direct sequel to the original either
8:02
so i don't know we'll talk about it and compare these two movies a little bit more probably more at the very end
8:08
i forgot to mention that i had watched this when i was little but i never saw the entire movie i only got to a certain
8:15
part and then i turned the movie off and i've never gone back to finish it since watching it now for this podcast oh
8:22
really okay do you wanna do you wanna spoil that right now or do you wanna just you are going to tell us about that as we go or oh no i'm going to wait i'm
8:27
going to wait until we get to the part okay okay yeah because there's there's quite a few moments in this movie where
8:32
it's like yeah you could just as a especially as like if you're eight or nine years old this movie's a nightmare there's lots of spots where you're like
8:38
shut her down i'm good man that's like the first time i ever saw the movie witches as a kid when the first time
8:44
when they go to the convention they all take their faces off and stuff that to me i was like that was a tapout moment i was like we're done we're done
8:51
i just watched that uh recently actually for the first time because the rem the remake came out so yeah that remake
8:57
sucks but the original one is like it's fierce it is scary man yeah so i'm
9:03
ready to click my heels together again and uh go back into this movie and try and finish it as an adult let's go over
9:08
the rainbow tim we're not in kansas anymore so this movie starts out back in kansas
9:13
where dorothy looks a lot younger than she did in the first wizard of oz movie
9:20
noticeably younger oh yeah yeah noticeably uh so like in the first wizard of oz movie dorothy
9:26
played by a beauty garland i i would guess in i don't know how old
9:32
was she was supposed to be when she was playing the character of dorothy but in the movie she looked like she was
9:38
probably 22 maybe i don't know i'd say yeah 18 to
9:44
early 20s i'd say yeah early to mid 20s that sounds about right somewhere in there dorothy looks like she
9:50
might be 10 or 12 years old in this movie yeah i think this is i think i think in the book isn't she supposed to be like 10
9:57
years she's supposed to be closer to what this little girl is in this movie right yeah i think so
10:03
i think so almost comparable to like an alice in wonderland situation yeah and and and the girl who plays
10:09
dorothy in this one i i never can pronounce her name right but she's uh she's she's the girl from the craft and
10:15
she's bobby boucher's girlfriend from the waterboy and uh is it farouza bulk is her name something
10:22
like that yes i remember looking up her name and the reason why it didn't i didn't hold it in my memories because i couldn't pronounce it so i was like well
10:28
maybe we just won't even bring her up but you did anyway so here we are yeah i mean i mean like just a very distinct look
10:33
whenever i see this little kid i'm like dumb like you're you're bobby boucher's girlfriend i'm just like i pictured the the sign you
10:40
know we're just like want me to kill him that's what that's that's dorothy
10:46
anyways yeah we are back in kansas with young dorothy here and the rest of her
10:52
family and they're rebuilding their old house because in the first movie
10:58
i guess which we'll say this must have been like pretty recently to now if they're just rebuilding the house or
11:04
still building portions onto it and stuff uh in the first movie their house their
11:09
home was swept up by a giant tornado so i believed him the answer to your question there is it's been about
11:17
six months i think is what um ant-m says since this whole tornado happened so
11:23
they've been rebuilding and it looks like dorothy is suffering now from insomnia or something
11:29
it seems like she's having a really hard time going to sleep and she's talking about this mysterious place called oz and everyone just thinks
11:36
that she's delusional i guess no you're 100 right that's exactly how
11:41
this starts everyone thinks that dorothy is crazy in fact her family is going to commit her to
11:47
a what we call the modern day a rehabilitation center
11:52
but this is approximately 1900 or something i don't know is when the wizard of oz takes place
11:59
so so yeah dorothy is just still talking about oz especially
12:06
to her pet chicken
12:11
she has a pet chicken there who she just talks to and she basically
12:17
confides in that everybody thinks that she's crazy and one day they're they're gonna learn but
12:23
yeah anyway she's let's point that out she's got the pet chicken she still has toto but the chicken is basically toto
12:30
in this movie now it's crazy to me that they don't think that you know she didn't apparently just hit her head in this whole tornado
12:37
instead that they just think that she's delusional now through this whole tornado this massive thing happened
12:42
where like everyone just got scattered across your entire farm in the middle of kansas
12:47
and they just think that she's crazy basically well in all fairness apologies talking
12:52
about a living scarecrow and a talking lion and a tin man who each want ridiculous
13:00
items and you know and a wizard i mean how she is i mean that sounds that
13:07
sounds crazy she's eight years old i mean eight-year-olds have have imaginary friends they're allowed to have
13:12
imaginations you know like uh i would just be like the i mean the first thing i wouldn't do is what they're going to
13:18
do with this poor kid all right this is not where i would go with this i was just going to say that
13:24
yeah yeah i was about to ask you what what do you think the appropriate thing you should do to help a child like
13:31
that i think maybe you just work with them a little bit and maybe explain the difference of imagination and reality
13:38
however dorothy's family is going a different route here her family seems smaller by
13:44
the way in this movie uh she it seems to be just her mother and her uncle and dorothy living there yeah you're right
13:49
because there was a bunch of farmhands and and and stuff like that you know it's and the farm is just greatly
13:54
diminished so i mean i hate to say it but the tornado probably destroyed it yeah what was the
14:00
casualty's numbers they were they were just pop the bodies piled up there i guess you know there's poor people
14:06
everyone got massacred but everyone yeah like this is that's what i mean like this is this is the first
14:13
it's it's it's like a minute and a half of a disney movie for kids it's this is
14:20
what they just this is the baseline story that you just walk into this is bleak man this is bleak dorothy and her
14:27
mother are off to the rehabilitation center they go to this place and they they talk
14:34
to this doctor dr worley and they show dorothy he shows
14:40
dorothy his machine that he has that he's going to use to try and help her and
14:45
he basically describes it as like having a face it's this it's this huge box mechanism
14:51
uh with lots of dials and uh different things on it basically the way he describes it
14:58
it's going to produce a slight sharp electrical shock to the head and it's going to wipe away all the nonsense
15:04
that's in there this this thing when this guy pulls the curtain
15:10
off and shows you his little contraption this was like a nightmare machine because he's even like look it's got a
15:16
little face on it dorothy it's gonna smile and stuff and i was looking at this thing like if i was this kid i would instantly
15:23
start crying and throwing a fit and be like get me the hell out of here it is it it this is the stuff of
15:28
nightmares paul do you know what i mean when i say steampunk
15:34
yes okay so this whole this contraption reminds me of steampunk and there's also just keep
15:40
that in mind because there's other things in this that remind me of like the steampunk steampunk culture is that
15:45
what i would refer to it as not a culture but like uh what is it like a way of art or something
15:51
i i was i'd say you know what now that you mentioned that there's definitely a steampunk aesthetic to the whole movie
15:58
here i think that's that's a that's a that's a good way to to uh categorize what's gonna go on in this
16:03
movie you know steampunk fantasy horror movie and all the while too by the way
16:08
the the music in this is like really dreary and dark
16:14
like it's not it it's it's always unsettling yeah the music in this is like this is
16:21
it's intense there's one part i was listening to it sounded like a funeral music but it was and it just got crazy and
16:27
heavy and then they're like like the disney movie this is a kids movie
16:32
this is wild um man okay so speaking of this being a disney movie we need to play a clip tim
16:39
we need to just so to set this up correctly
16:45
dorothy is at the doctors and she is telling him about the tin man
16:53
one of the characters she met in oz during this whole original first trip
16:59
and she is going to explain how he became the tin man
17:05
just keep in mind again this is a disney kids movie
17:12
the tin woodsman used to be made of flesh like everybody else but then he cut off his leg
17:19
he had a tin leg made but then a witch enchanted his axe and he kept on cutting off all the other
17:26
parts of his body until he was all made of tin even his head that's all right
17:33
wow that slipped by me the first time i watched last night i'm glad you i'm glad
17:39
you pointed that one out holy crap i'm gonna try not to just bang that drum too much but i just i need a sign that
17:46
just says it's a disney kids movie okay what a dark what a dark way to describe that
17:52
right okay so this this this tin man just he chopped off his hand or his arm and was like i'm just gonna make a tin
17:59
arm and so he kind of made himself a robocop arm and then this witch
18:05
made his axe chop him up and then made him into a tin man so dorothy
18:12
and her mother and this uh doctor here are joined
18:17
by nurse wilson who is basically the head nurse i guess of this place and she
18:23
seems really mean she looks like maleficent kind of with no horns or the puffy shirt version of seinfeld
18:29
that would be black like instead of a white one it looks like a puffy shirt i feel like janet jackson's worn an outfit
18:36
like this lady's wearing with the little it's black with the the frills and it's got the little like
18:43
bondage loops on the side and stuff too you know i i feel like i've seen her or it's some sort of r b pop star where
18:50
something like that maybe not exactly that but i could i could see that lady gaga would wear something like this yeah maybe
18:56
edward scissorhands maybe that's what i'm thinking up to oh wow it really does look like edward scissorhands that's good
19:02
that's really good so they're joined here by nurse wilson who
19:08
is the head person the head nurse of this place and tells dorothy's mother that they're
19:13
going to look they're going to take good care of her they're going to look after her and dorothy's mother leaves
19:19
and then dorothy is escorted to this like room with nothing in it i think there's a bed and maybe a table uh
19:27
dorothy's in there and she's hallucinating seeing this other little girl who appears to be the same age as dorothy
19:33
but she has blonde hair think about that this little kid is alone hallucinating in a mental like uh asylum or something
19:41
i don't know what this place is experimental surgery i don't even know what this is man i would definitely call this experimental
19:47
i mean there's they're going to electrocute her this is a torture it's a torture facility is basically what this
19:53
is masquerading as some sort of scientific rehabilitation center you know
19:58
well i mean there was a lot of places like that back then that legitimately believed that they were doing good yeah i mean it's a different time yeah yeah
20:04
just zapping people yeah what if we just electrocuted somebody wouldn't that be wouldn't that just like fix them you
20:10
know no way back they probably learned that electrocuting people
20:16
definitely kills them but then somebody got the idea like okay well what if we just electrocute them a little bit
20:22
maybe maybe that'll like make things better as opposed to like you know everything else
20:28
that hurts them with electricity yeah what if we just blast their brains with just like a little bit of electricity
20:34
well maybe that'll fix them up like how many animals died but that if they tested on prior to humans and
20:40
they're like all right we'll just keep turning it down a little bit you know i i don't know if it's true or not but i
20:46
had heard a story about thomas edison apparently one time taking an elephant
20:52
to uh fairgrounds okay and to demonstrate basically the effectiveness
20:58
of dc current he electrocuted an elephant in front of
21:03
everybody he like hooked it up to a battery and zapped it and like destroyed this thing
21:09
you know and i was like when i heard that story i was like that probably unfortunately sounds true like that probably happened you know i've never
21:15
confirmed that i probably should you know just you know double check that folks
21:20
maybe it didn't happen it's all alleged so but you know like yeah you know it's a
21:27
different time like i said people just they're just trying stuff out we're getting electricity and they're just that's why that's why we have the
21:33
warning signs on the dryers and stuff now you know because because of things like that so unfortunately dorothy
21:40
is gonna be part of one of these weird experiments that were we were talking about here
21:45
and she is strapped to a bed and she asked like why am i being tied down or like well so
21:51
you don't fall off the bed he's like why would i fall off the bed she's like oh dear don't worry about
21:57
that so she's they take her to this room wow long story short in this area they
22:04
right when they're about to zap her the lightning strikes and the power goes out because there's this giant this
22:11
giant thunder and lightning storm and then this hallucination comes back again this
22:18
little girl this little girl with blonde hair and helps untie dorothy and they
22:24
decide to run her down the hall by the way i almost forgot to mention while all this is going on there are there are
22:30
people just screaming in agony and pain in other rooms like people being like oh
22:41
it's a disney kids movie that's what you get so they're running down this dark hall
22:46
that's only being illuminated by the flashes of lightning here and there and they i guess they escape they run out
22:52
the back door and they run to this lake river and they they're
22:58
trying to like get across it or like jump grab a hold of things to escape the head nurse nurse wilson is chasing them
23:05
right now and they all end up in the water but nurse wilson gets out of the water however
23:10
dorothy and this other girl grab a hold of this carriage thing
23:16
it's like a a wooden box a wooden a giant wooden crate and the little girl the blonde hair girl
23:23
goes underwater and doesn't come back so we are under the impression right now that this little girl has just drowned
23:30
and dorothy passes out holding on to this uh this wooden crate
23:36
okay i'm glad that you noticed that too because i also was watching this and was like wait a
23:42
second wasn't there just a small child there about two seconds ago
23:47
where did this kid go because there's this this crib or this crate or it's a cradle or something
23:53
that kind of just shows up out of nowhere and then all of a sudden this little girl is gone and just dorothy is by
24:00
herself now in this thing floating away
24:06
folks folks again this is all in the first like 12 to 15 minutes this is like night
24:12
killer where you're like what's going on what's going on here
24:18
folks come on this is a kids movie we're drowning little children
24:24
and we're gonna shock them this is crazy this is the wizard of oz i can't i can't
24:31
believe that this is the wizard of oz that's that to me is like it's pretty mind-blowing today so i was
24:37
like what is in the other books how dark is the munchie land book now that we talk about this you know what i mean it's the next day or morning or
24:43
something but it's daylight and dorothy is just waking up and she is again in this crib great crate thing and
24:52
she it's it's daylight she just wakes up and she doesn't know where she is however the river has completely drained and
24:59
they're on like sand or something and by the way her pet chicken from earlier is with her
25:05
now and the chicken talks that's right she's just woken up now
25:11
in i guess what she just presumes instantly is the land of oz
25:17
and this chicken who the chicken's name by the way is balina you know they couldn't have had something normal
25:23
for a while i thought that they were calling her i thought that her name was bulimia
25:31
that's horrible well for a while i didn't have the subtitles turned on and and it it it does sound very close to
25:38
bulimia you think they went all huck finn on this one or something just named it something completely
25:44
inappropriate like all right yeah we uh we can't we can't name it that guy's maybe i don't know but yeah so the area
25:51
that she's in is actually called the deadly desert just
25:56
soak that in again it's called the deadly desert and apparently somehow dorothy knows how this all works maybe
26:02
they explain that in in the original books or something uh they don't explain that in the movie that i never
26:09
ever saw a mention of the deadly desert in the first movie maybe it was in there but uh i didn't see it
26:15
so if if you touch the sand apparently you're going to just
26:22
instantaneously turn into the sand that's what the whole point of the deadly desert is however
26:30
there is a bunch of rocks all around this desert in the sand and they're currently sitting on a crate
26:37
in this sand so why didn't any of that turn to sand because the rocks aren't
26:44
any regular rocks these rocks have eyes and faces that are
26:49
hiding you might be onto something there actually you might be right maybe they're like for the gnome king maybe
26:54
that's how he he is his eyes and ears out there they're they're rocks but i don't think he does he does either
27:00
that's exact that's exactly what it is but this guy doesn't control deadly desert does he i think he's one of the
27:05
reasons that the deadly desert exists so dorothy and her chicken balina show
27:10
up to i get i guess what used to be the emerald city because it is now this broken down sort of husk of a city
27:18
and uh they're like what what the heck's going on here so you know dorothy and your chicken go inside
27:23
and they see a little bit of graffiti everywhere and it says beware the wheelers which first of all
27:29
i'm like who's who's writing graffiti in this world because it it's not spray paint you can tell it's not spray paints
27:34
i guess someone painted this thing but i don't know who painted this so she's going through this the city with
27:40
her chicken and she sees that everybody in this place has basically been turned to stone
27:46
and as she's trying to figure out what's going on here all of a sudden we see
27:51
the we see the wheelers and these weird i guess i want to call them
27:58
tim these like cirque du soleil rejects is basically what i think these guys are
28:05
they're like these puppet-faced helmet with cyber dread roller skater
28:12
guys they're basically like humans of sort humanoids
28:17
uh and they have like their arms instead instead of feet and hands they have wheels
28:24
and their arms are probably like an extra like two feet long so they're kind of they're on all fours
28:30
and but still like really tall and yeah they move around and none of them have any grease on their wheels they're
28:37
all very very squeaky you know i don't know why like you would think
28:43
that that this um these these humanoid creatures
28:48
uh would probably have some grease for their wheels but they don't they're very very noisy also by the way uh the tin
28:55
man and the lion they've been turned to stone as well and the scarecrow is the
29:01
king because i i think in the for i don't know i don't think it happened in the first world wars movie however i know in
29:07
the first book the scarecrow became the king of oz uh before dorothy left back to kansas so
29:14
anyways when dorothy's return now she's expecting to see the king of uh
29:19
emerald city anyways these creepy wheelers uh chase dorothy and her chicken uh down
29:28
this like cobblestone hallway or something and they she hides in this room she finds
29:34
this key that she had from earlier uh when she was still back in kansas she found a silver key in the uh troughs for
29:41
the chickens i think and so anyways this key just happens to come into use now and she unlocks
29:48
the stone wall and it like opens up and she goes in this room and hides in this room there's this one wheeler too this guy
29:55
kind of almost run he reminds me of pee wee herman it looks like a
30:00
man dude that's amazing i i was i was gonna say that he reminded me of pee wee herman as well but i wasn't sure if that
30:06
was like an accurate inaccurate uh like comparison or not but yeah you totally you read my mind i
30:13
totally think so yeah he's got he's like this weird purpley looking guy all these guys look so goofy they're not like
30:18
looking at them now as an adult i'm like they look like idiots there's nothing threatening about them right and they even threatened to tear dorothy into
30:25
pieces and i was thinking to myself like you guys you have you have wheel hands you have wheel hits how could you tell you you can't tear anybody pieces
30:32
you'd roll you could scoot your little hands on them a couple times or something like i don't really know what you're gonna do to her you're not really
30:38
that threatening you know i mean as a if i was nine this is a nightmare as a as a 34 year old male i'm like
30:46
you look stupid sir so in this room that dorothy is hiding in we find this uh i guess i'd call it
30:53
like a steampunk invention machine thing uh it's his name is tiktok
30:59
uh and he is basically this robot
31:05
a twist a twist turned powered robot it looks like alpha five's brass grandpa
31:13
right or or kind of like that made from the jetsons something like that in between you know
31:19
somewhere in there that's what i feel like it kind of looks like the pringles guy with like a um
31:25
camera what do they call those hats is do you call a rice like a rice farmer's hot so this thing has instructions written
31:32
on the back of it and dorothy basically turns the crank
31:37
and powers this thing up and so he can go for so long and it turns out that he's actually like some
31:43
kind of a mechanical army soldier
31:49
and he has been powered off for quite some time however he is happy to see
31:55
dorothy and uh he's happy to be of service to her he
32:00
vows to basically be her servant and do what she needs
32:06
the one there was one little dark part to this though where when
32:11
i think i can't remember what it was she she said something along the lines of like like well you'll be alive for so and so
32:17
amount of time or something like that and he was like no i'm actually not alive i don't have the burden of life thank god yeah so our
32:24
friend tiktok here he explains to everybody that apparently what happened is is the gnome
32:31
king showed up and took all the emeralds from emerald city and everybody turned to stone
32:39
and i guess that's what happened so maybe that's what happened in the book too you know again never read the book so
32:45
that seems like that sounds like a kid's story so that's what's happened now so maybe dorothy needs to go and and
32:52
save the day and get the emeralds back but probably not i guess she just needs to get out of there it's what she wants to do you know did they really say what
32:59
she's doing there she just kind of ends up there and just it seems it seems like really she's just
33:05
happy to be back like that's one big difference between dorothy in this movie and the first one is that like every in
33:11
the first movie she's kind of like enchanted and everything's mesmerizing and everything that she finds is like oh wow this is crazy this is great wow like
33:19
he's just kind of like constantly bewildered in this movie dorothy's like just totally cool with everything she's like
33:25
okay i'm here my chicken talks now uh this guy there's these guys on wheels
33:30
the tick tock here it's all good dorothy and tick tock have found a
33:36
castle here where they hear that someone named princess moby lives mommy so
33:43
or mommy yeah the dj lives there dj yeah
33:48
so anyways we'd meet princess momby
33:53
she is basically the ruler of this stone city now i don't really know what
33:58
her purpose is however she's an interesting character to say the least so
34:04
we find out that she lives here in this castle it's full of mirrors it's very very bright i suspect
34:12
that this is where the wizard used to live but i can't say that for sure right now
34:19
so mommy is sitting here playing what is that a mandolin you know what that instrument is i think
34:24
that's like you ever seen the music video for safety dance by uh men at work oh yes right the
34:31
little the the the one gentleman walking around and he's got the little
34:37
mandolin loot thing whatever that is i'm pretty sure that's the exact same thing
34:45
i love that music video i love that song you can dance everybody like your pants
34:51
everybody look at your pants i like it when it goes safety dance
35:17
that's good with the same defense okay sorry i'm going to stop
35:23
just for some context here princess momby is a full-grown woman
35:29
like he's probably like 35 40 years old maybe and she has long blonde hair she's a
35:36
beautiful princess she grabs dorothy by the hand and
35:42
proceeds to pull her like walking her down the hall now in this hallway
35:48
are a bunch of glass cases like like cupboards that you can see into in every glass
35:55
cupboard is a female head and these that and they're all looking
36:01
around they're moving and then at this point
36:06
dorothy while she's while princess momby is talking princess mombi
36:13
lifts her head off of her body places it onto uh i guess a head holder in the closet
36:20
grabs another head and holds it and the head looks at dorothy and asks her how do i look
36:26
and dorothy says you look beautiful ben this is
36:33
this is crazy i remember like when i was watching this when i was young this part
36:38
really really creeped me out this is crazy you know what you know what's interesting is just like
36:44
mid 80s to like early 90s that kind of stuff we just had no qualms apparently
36:50
about scaring the piss out of like just kids that are under 10 years old
36:56
just just traumatize them guys go for it things were a lot more unfiltered back then for sure it was a little yeah it
37:03
was a little more loose right that's i mean you got this coming out then you got you got the labyrinth coming out basically the same year this is
37:10
too bad here kids do you want to sleep ever and then we'll put on dark crystal for
37:16
you too it'll be a nice upbeat weekend princess mobby here
37:21
tells dorothy that she really likes dorothy's head and in fact she's going to take it
37:28
and it's going to be one of the best heads in her collection dorothy says i think you will not
37:36
and then uh bulimia whatever the bird here comes in and starts like
37:42
i don't know nipping pecking at uh princess momby and she
37:48
she tells the bird that she's going to eat the bird fry her up for breakfast and throws dorothy and
37:54
the bird or the chicken into this room with a bunch of different things
37:59
amongst all the different things in this room is this i i i can only describe it as a
38:06
scarecrow with a jack-o'-lant a jack-o-lantern on his head a pumpkin he's a pumpkin
38:11
head and he's alive he talks too
38:17
and he's so creepy and the reason why he's creepy is that his mouth doesn't move he's just a
38:23
jack-o-lantern and there's just like this voice from like a hollow like
38:28
speaking from a bucket like he talks like like there's clearly somebody it's it's
38:34
clearly just a voice in there it's a yeah it's it's really creepy because like how do you i don't even understand
38:40
how he like articulates words and stuff so watching him talk is weird he sounds like he's like 20 years old it's like
38:47
pumpkin bean or something yes dorothy i've come to get you a
38:52
little dog too pumpkin here he explains that
38:58
his mother created him with some magic powder that she got from a magician she
39:03
she built him and then dumped sucked this powder on him and then he came to life and he was
39:09
she made him so that he would fight princess mombi because she turned everybody to stone
39:14
so anyways apparently he failed and he just she just threw him in this room and
39:20
amongst all the head she stole she did not want to steal the pumpkin head so the pumpkin head and dorothy have
39:27
devised a plan where they're going to sneak into princess momby's room and steal the
39:33
magic powder that was used to bring the pumpkin head guy to life so
39:39
so dorothy sneaks out of this room by the way okay they go and she sneaks out of the room
39:45
that they're in and sneaks into princess mommy's room and goes to steal the powder
39:52
by the way the whole reasoning for doing this is because they want to escape this place
39:57
so i don't understand if they've already been able if they're already able to get out of the room and princess momby is
40:03
asleep in bed why are they going through all this other stuff as dorothy is
40:09
sneaking in the room to steal the powder she steals it and then as she's leaving she's walking through the hallway with
40:15
all the heads and one of the heads wakes up and realizes that you know she is out
40:21
and about and screams that she's here and they all the heads wake up and they start screaming
40:27
and then holy sh this princess mombi jumps out of bed and runs
40:35
out into the hall and is her arms are flailing all over the place she's completely headless
40:40
it's just a torso well i guess a body with no head just running about grabbing
40:45
at different hits and when i was young this is the part where i turned it off i was already sketched
40:52
out when we saw the heads the all the heads in the hallway but this part once
40:58
that happened i was like i was like scrambling for the remote it's just a body with no head just running around
41:05
in a kid's movie just chasing this poor little kid around in the middle of nowhere with nothing
41:11
but a little brass little old old little robot that's it and a chicken
41:18
and meanwhile they're trying to put together basically a flying moose or
41:24
something for some reason i don't know why we needed to do this or they thought to make this they call it a gump they
41:29
just they just basically make this like there's there's a these are moose is that a moose head yeah i believe so it's
41:35
a moose i think that's a big old moose yeah it's a moose head uh mounted on the wall they take that off and connect it
41:42
to like a bunch of chairs on a sofa and sprinkle this magic dust that that they
41:47
used that was used to bring you know the pumpkin head to life so this moose
41:53
thing comes to life which is also very scary and
41:58
it can fly so they just take off out of the out the window and
42:03
fly out of the deadly desert yeah they like yeah so they're they're
42:09
flying out of this place and while they're doing this it's like this the headless lady is lumbering
42:14
around now this is the slowest the slowest whatever you want to call this wake up grab a brush and put a
42:20
little makeup kind of moment this this this queen princess
42:26
mommy is having she's trying to get her head together or something and lumbering you know she's kind of
42:32
slowly just lumbering up the stairs and as she does that you know this rickety old
42:38
contraption with a moose head on it that they've got with just a couple of strings and a chicken flying uh are just
42:44
they're just flying off the edge of this building and they pull up at the last second
42:49
and i guess instead this is this was a weird point in this movie where i thought it maybe this was an artistic choice and
42:55
maybe it's in the actual book itself but to me this seemed this this seemed like
43:01
they were almost trying to delineate between the first original movie and this movie
43:07
where in the first movie they had flying monkeys where the witch could be like go get em my
43:13
pretties and they would fly away and and just you know wow and they'd have their little wings and flap off and do their
43:19
thing in this movie these stupid little roller skate hand kind of guys they kind of they kind of move around like chimps
43:26
you know but like i said cirque du soleil kind of roller skaters it just did
43:31
she just sends her roller skate army now after this this flying moose
43:37
trunk thing and yeah like they just keep flying for the whole night now
43:44
yeah like what what are these wheelers supposed to be doing for them like what or like how are they supposed to attack them i don't know that's the whole thing
43:50
what are you gonna do and they're just gonna follow them indefinitely and then what like that's it like i don't understand that
43:55
dorothy her pumpkin friend and the tick tock steampunk machine
44:02
and and this this gump this thing they call a gump the sofa
44:08
moose god the sofa moose they're all they they crash land into this mountain
44:15
and now it's like winter because i guess it's very very high out there like near the top of the mountain or something
44:21
out of nowhere this giant face appears in the rock because i like all the other
44:27
faces that we've seen earlier um in in this thing is called the gnome king
44:33
so here's a question why is he called the gnome king do you think because i thought a gnome was like
44:38
a little like a lawn gnome like a little garden gnome you know like a little mischievous little kind of thing these
44:43
guys are just rock things rock face people like gollums or
44:48
something i'm not really sharp on like the knowledge of gnomes however
44:54
i think that maybe there's a lot of different kinds of gnomes because like i i think the gnomes are maybe
45:01
are just like little kind of like minion henchmen type things anyways or little creatures little humanoids because
45:08
like whenever you say gnomes you they always say like what kind of gnome they are so it's like a garden like you said
45:13
like a garden gnome a lawn gnome underwear gnome
45:21
rock gnomes we know what's well they don't spell them with the g it's not genome it's just this one is this n-o-m-e so what like what is a gnome
45:28
like maybe that's all like yield english or something i don't know so dorothy tells the gnome king that they have come
45:34
here to conquer him and he's like you and what army and she said this army
45:39
and she points to tick tock the little mechanical guy right so
45:47
it's so weird the king starts laughing he starts laughing so hard about the mountain shakes and
45:54
a crevice opens up like as earthquake happens and the ground opens and everybody follows him but it's really
46:00
just focused on dorothy right now and she's not falling the way you would expect
46:05
someone to fall with by the laws of gravity she is kind of like just starts floating along
46:10
and then before you know it like the acid kicks in and everything starts going looking really
46:17
crazy like really weird colors and smokiness and and uh it's very distorting and sore and
46:24
sort of disorienting and she's kind of looks like she's sort of floating through it in space she doesn't even look like she's falling anymore she kind
46:29
of looks like she's just like like kind of just in motion but not relative to anything yeah it's like what's that
46:36
like that cartoon mr peabody and they're like traveling through time or something like gee mr peabody and there's like all
46:42
these clocks and stuff flying by it's kind of like that except it's like fragoroc acid trip kind of thing going on here this is this
46:50
is wild i was like this is more like a pink floyd the wall kind of thing this is not like your your disney movie you
46:58
know and and it's crazy too because this whole rick and morty time and space
47:03
portal thing that is just going on for a few minutes and this crazy echoey voice is talking to her and stuff
47:09
and all of a sudden she lands for a split second and you see a glimpse of this movie's
47:16
version of the scarecrow which is to me you know the first one was was pretty unsettling like the characters in the
47:22
first movie they're all pretty crazy looking but they have to me a sort of a human
47:27
look to them in this movie the scarecrow in this
47:32
it looks like a weird plastic face scarecrow thing for like a half a second
47:38
you see this guy and this guy scared the crap out of me when i was watching this again i was like what is this guy
47:45
and he disappears again and and you're like what the hell did he go i thought it was funny that
47:51
this scarecrow from 1938 looked better than this scarecrow from
47:58
1986 it's the same as the the pumpkin guy
48:04
jack it's like his mouth doesn't move he just has a still face it's a mask it looks like it
48:11
looks like a giant puppet or something with a moving mouth it's it's yeah it's really jarring and
48:18
hideous it's like one of those like nailed it kind of things you know like with one of
48:24
those memes it's creepy maybe they are like the scarecrow
48:29
in the original wasn't scary enough we just got to add a hint of john wayne gacy in this scarecrow i think maybe
48:36
that'll that'll help the kids you know like it's just just weird choices in this movie with
48:42
the the costumes and the characters they look so so creepy man this is this is a
48:47
disturbing movie but you know once the scarecrow disappears
48:52
uh dorothy kind of freaks out a bit and starts yelling and she kind of says you know what we said earlier like hey this
48:58
you know scarecrow didn't do it what's your problem man like leave us alone and she kind of cries a bit you know because
49:05
she's a 10 year old kid she finally acts like a 10 year old kid in this movie now it's taking this long uh but she she she
49:11
freaks out and she cries and and you know this giant rock gnome thing guy
49:17
kind of puts his rock hand on her and he pats her on the back and he says it's all right little girl he's like why don't we just play a game how's that
49:23
sound i'll cheer you up and he's and he says i'll let you and your friends go
49:29
if you guys can pick the scarecrow because he basically
49:34
tells her that he turned the scarecrow into a little a little trinket basically
49:40
and he's got a room full of trinkets and they can go in one at a time and they have yeah they're one of his ornaments
49:46
yeah and they have and they have three guesses each and they can they can guess anything in this room
49:51
and and try to find which one is a scarecrow and that's kind of where he leaves it you know you don't really hear the rest
49:57
of the stipulation you think you want to know what happens if you don't guess correctly
50:03
they're like what other bullet do we have to put in the gun here so you know smoke them if you got them why don't we just
50:10
go for it this is already a nightmare let's just go into this danger uh death uh tunnel thing
50:17
cave on a on a side note like just like kind of like while this is going on
50:25
princess momby is on like a chariot that's being pulled by these wheelers
50:31
and it's it's so and she he looks like crazier than ever it's that's it's scary
50:37
so anyways princess zombies on her way and the the king there the gnome king
50:45
like turns from instead of like being his i don't know in the rocks like having a
50:50
face in the rocks he turns into a person like a humanoid
50:56
statue he looks like a live statue but he looks really scary because
51:01
everything looks totally like a statue like the textures on his skin are all gray and it looks weathered and stuff
51:08
however his his lips the inside of his lips and eyelids aren't painted
51:15
so every now and then he has like this these really weird little glowing features to his face
51:21
he looks like an ashy version of the ghost of christmas present that's what i
51:26
thought he looked like so he also says to dorothy
51:33
i don't know why just randomly he decided to say this but he goes look at what i have and he lifts up his
51:40
gown to reveal that he's wearing the ruby the red ruby slit slippers
51:47
from the uh the first movie because like apparently they she lost them in the in
51:53
when she was like returning back to uh kansas and uh yeah and the gnome king got him
51:59
and that's how he got the powers to do whatever it is that he's doing
52:05
turning people to stone with princess momby i don't know but for anyone listening to this uh when
52:12
you're done or if you have a moment now it'll be on our instagram [Music]
52:17
go go check out a picture of this guy with him sitting in his in his uh chair his throne lifting his
52:24
gown to show his ruby red slippers because his feet are just like dangling there and he's just like showing them off it's really funny
52:31
the first time he started lifting up his skirt it's been a minute since i watched this i was like what is going on right now
52:39
i know this is already it's already a crazy movie for kids but like where are we taking this and yeah and you just see
52:45
this this is this this guy wearing these little slippers and he's kind of like shaking them a little bit and being like what do you think
52:51
check them out and i think i think originally they're supposed to be silver slippers too in
52:58
the books i could be wrong but different on on this guy he's this weird stoney guy looks like the burger king that's
53:04
what he looks like i think too maybe i could be wrong there a stone version of the burger king
53:11
so dorothy and her friends have been yeah he does look like the burger king actually dorothy and her friends have been
53:17
banished to this room to try and guess which ornament toy
53:22
thing whatever like there's tons of ornamental trinkets in this room she has to guess which one is the wizard
53:28
while that's going on princess mommy has arrived to meet the gnome king and he's like
53:34
how come you let her escape you're supposed to bring her to me talking about dorothy and she's like
53:40
she's like well if you would have given me a real army instead of these wheelers maybe i could do something so he puts
53:45
her in a cage i why in the world is she even is he even upset at her
53:51
like like he got what he wanted anyways she she coincidentally left princess mommy
53:58
to come directly to the gnome king is this slam dunk yeah yeah so he was supposed to deliver dorothy to the gnome
54:05
king and so he got so mad that she didn't deliver
54:10
dorothy even though dorothy came on her own will and put princess mom be in a cage
54:16
and then he decided to play a game with dorothy where if she gets a question
54:21
right like if she can discover which ornament is the scarecrow then he'll let he will
54:27
let her go and let the scarecrow go so like what's what is the point of all this
54:33
i don't know this honestly the story just sounds like a six year old wrote this story that's what the plot is to this and they're
54:39
like there's then they're like and the bad guys had roller skates on their hands [Music]
54:46
oh right on dude that's cool right like that's where this movie really sounds like it was going
54:52
it's just this is nonsense but you know what i love too is when queen princess whatever name is princess momby when
54:58
she's when she's riding the little roller skate guys on her little garage
55:03
there's like close-up shots sometimes of these like these roller skate guys and they're like she's whipping them and they're kind of snarling like they're
55:09
supposed to be fierce but they all again look like pee wee herman but they're like crying
55:17
cyber dreads it's amazing i love these characters this is this is like unintentional gold
55:24
amongst all these ornaments dorothy finds this little piece of green emerald
55:30
and she thinks well emerald city maybe that's the scarecrow so
55:35
she touches it and says oz which it was as per the instructions from the gnome
55:41
king and then this like poof appears
55:46
the scarecrow it's weird too because in this room where dorothy is looking at all these like knickknacks it's
55:51
basically a bunch of like pottery and sculptures and stuff like that you know there's a bunch of these these
55:57
ornaments and vases and stuff in there and then there's like again this one green emerald
56:03
in a place where the guy was like i took all the emeralds from emerald city so you're like oh maybe that's something
56:09
i should pick you know do you think that would be the obvious one and it's kind of at this point anyways that dorothy clues in that she sees anything that
56:17
looks green that like an emerald is probably a safe bet that it's one of her her buddies you
56:23
know so she starts going around and grabbing stuff that's green and she starts yelling awes and you know olsen our
56:30
friend gump comes back tick-tock comes back a bunch of these characters start coming back and the gnome king starts getting really
56:38
really upset now and he starts shaking the whole place and the place is now like just kind of
56:43
falling apart dorothy and all of her friends the scarecrow uh that weird jack pumpkin guy
56:48
and the the couch moose uh they try to get out and this claymation
56:54
like volcano guy who is the gnome king he reaches out now and he grabs the couch and this to me seemed like sort of
56:59
like a just a choice movie they're like we don't want to carry around a stupid couch anymore this is too much to do for this movie just ditch it just ahead only
57:07
so the claymation gnome king guy comes out and just rips off the couch and they basically just take off with just the
57:14
head now and they're going through this this maze this nightmare maze
57:19
so again this you know this this claymation kind of wrath of the titans uh gnome king
57:25
grabs the the pumpkin head guy pulls him up and he's about to eat him
57:30
and it looks like bolina has been kind of hiding inside of his head the little chicken and she's finally laid an egg
57:36
and this egg slowly starts to funnel out of jack's head and it drops into
57:43
the gnome king's giant mouth now and this little tiny egg apparently is enough to just explode him it's just
57:50
like it's like poison for the gnome king i guess yeah he everything goes silent and
57:57
he looks very sad and concerned and then his eyes
58:03
start glazing over it's i know this doesn't make sense but it's like he's turning to stone even
58:09
though he's already stoned he's like kind of like
58:14
returning to eggshells you could say yeah i don't really know what that little crackly thing is is is it
58:20
supposed to be his eye like the egg like kind of running through his eye or something or is it glazing over is it
58:26
ice i don't really understand what that is but like basically a bunch of weird faces around
58:32
this guy it looks like he controls a bunch of arms and hands there's a bunch of nightmare like they're in hell right now
58:38
is what's going on in oz like there's fire going on around them and stuff it does it looks like hell yeah and like
58:45
there's crumbling buildings and he's this volcano faced nightmare skull thing
58:51
and there's there's arms like coming out and trying to grab them and these weird like claymation butthole things coming out of
58:58
the wall as well too and he just kind of starts to crumble
59:04
into this horrible disgusting crispy nightmare claymation
59:10
thing dorothy luckily manages to grab the
59:16
ruby red slippers and clicks them together and wishes them all
59:22
to go back to us now that everything has been put back to normal in emerald city all the statues
59:29
are now humans again i don't see any munchkins but they're probably there
59:34
maybe the camera is just too high and [Music]
59:41
that may not be nice i don't know but anyways maybe that one went over their heads you know so
59:47
everyone's alive the scarecrow is back well he was already back but the lion is back and the tin man is back and
59:55
everybody's happy and they're all celebrating it's an oz fest is a good time for everybody and
1:00:03
they want dorothy to be their queen because their queen is gone and dorothy was
1:00:09
thinking about it maybe but probably not and then out of nowhere this the the former queen appears in a
1:00:17
mirror much like the blonde girl from earlier whom we thought drowned
1:00:23
luckily for everybody she did not drown she was just captured in a mirror or something
1:00:31
but she's back now and she comes through the mirror and the queen is back
1:00:37
and everybody's happy uh the chicken decides that she doesn't want to go back to oz
1:00:43
because they're likely going to kill her and eat her or just take all of her babies so
1:00:49
she decides that she's going to stay in the wonderful world of oz
1:00:54
and dorothy wants to go back to i don't know potentially being like
1:01:00
electrocuted or something like i if i was dorothy at this point i would
1:01:06
totally stay in oz i mean i guess it's i mean i mean odds just look like a hellish area too but i think i would
1:01:11
still choose to stay in oz over the place where everybody thinks i'm crazy and they want to electrocute me
1:01:22
that's that's just me hey that's the movie
1:01:28
so she goes back anyways we gotta get right to the end of this she goes back her mom's happy that she's returned it
1:01:35
seems like she's had a bad dream or something i don't know i don't care i'm just happy this movie's over she's back in kansas and i guess everybody
1:01:42
lives happily ever after you know tim would you when you put it
1:01:48
like that i think if i was dorothy i'd probably
1:01:53
want to stay there too yeah why the hell would anybody want to go back to the living like that
1:02:00
you know it's sad i mean it i felt pretty bad for dorothy
1:02:06
that was the return to oz this is like again one of those movies where you're like mom can we get wizard
1:02:12
of oz and like we got wizard of oz at home and wizard of oz at home is this
1:02:18
like we're like we couldn't afford the scarecrow and the cowardly lion for more than like two seconds so we're just
1:02:23
gonna have a giant pumpkin face guy and this nightmare scarecrow thing that shows up in this movie it's just got a
1:02:30
smile and a weird hat like jughead the first movie is scary too i
1:02:35
think as well but in like a fun kind of scary way this is like
1:02:42
this is like disturbing kind of scary they were like well might as well just traumatize people there's one big factor
1:02:48
i think in like two movies that makes the that makes the biggest difference like like as far as comparing the two like
1:02:55
the first one and the second one in that music i think can really make or break
1:03:01
or movie maybe not make or break but really set the tone because i think like the biggest difference in the first
1:03:07
movie we had all these like super whimsical songs and even when like things were dark it still
1:03:14
sounded like fun but in this movie all of the music is constantly eerie it
1:03:21
rarely rarely sounds positive at all and in the first movie too they i mean you know you get sent obviously to like a
1:03:28
completely different world where you go to oz but it's like at least you know dorothy has toto and in this
1:03:33
movie you just don't have toto at all she's just like toto get out of here like right off the hop she's like toto just don't follow me at all we're just
1:03:41
gonna get a stupid talking chick in this movie i don't know why they went with the chicken i'm assuming maybe there's some sort of
1:03:47
money thing to it or or something like that i feel like maybe it's easier than we're going to get no i don't know i
1:03:52
think that they were just i think it just switched up so like she has a different like a comp like he's accompanied by maybe a different animal
1:03:58
each time um i'm not really sure but sort of like touching on what you just said
1:04:05
one thing that made it easier in the first movie is that the tin man the lion and the scarecrow were all
1:04:12
her they were all the same actor as the people the actors that played her family members in the first movie so
1:04:20
even though we were meeting all these like strange new characters when dorothy went to oz we still recognize them as her family
1:04:27
members so i think that that was why it also might be easier and not quite as jarring to see these weirdos but whereas
1:04:34
in this movie i mean the uh the actress who played nurse wilson did
1:04:40
play princess momby as one of the heads i believe but i don't know which one uh
1:04:47
but nobody was recognizable i think the tick tock guy i believe he was the the doctor that
1:04:54
made the elect the elect the electrocution machine oh i would have figured he would be like the
1:05:00
gnome king or something like that i don't know maybe he was but but there was anyways my point is is that there
1:05:05
was nobody familiar at all like every time we met a new character anyone knew
1:05:10
in this movie the sequel it was it felt disturbing and didn't look
1:05:16
familiar yeah i know it was just like just a nightmare fuel all around there and just like the weird roller skate
1:05:22
guys and stuff and i was wondering too like what do you think are they like are they like henchmen are they a street gang are they just a bunch of misfits
1:05:29
dude like it's like because they all have roller skate hands so do they do they all like were they all born with
1:05:34
roller skate hands how does that work no i i would say that the gnome king created them because princess monbi
1:05:42
implied that she wished she was given a better army a race of roller skate circus guys you
1:05:49
know it's it's weird because there's so many questions about the wheelers alone that i like
1:05:55
like how do they do anything how do they even how do they even have clothes do they attach like maybe there's one
1:06:02
person that has hands or like some kind of digits where at night he takes the
1:06:08
wheels off of the wheelers like like disassembles their hands and their feet
1:06:14
so that they can like take their clothes off so you're subscribing to more of
1:06:19
like an edward scissorhands kind of thing where he can has interchangeable wheel hands maybe i see where you're
1:06:24
going there i i kind of think maybe princess momby she just does it for them right you know i
1:06:30
mean because they have like buttons on their shirts and stuff too and it's like you can't do that with wheels how are you gonna get a button on that's hard
1:06:36
try to deal with just your hands let alone wheels like if you just you took your fists and you just put them together and tried
1:06:42
to do a button that's impossible you can't do it you gotta you got a 12-inch tire hand you're not doing that
1:06:49
yeah these things just appear scary but they're they're they're they're really useless
1:06:56
there's really no i don't don't see why what's what the point is
1:07:01
there's another thing you might not be i don't know if you you can answer this so it might be in the story and i'm just so confused because i'm trying to wrap my
1:07:07
mind around all of it but if the scarecrow was king
1:07:15
is princess osma
1:07:21
like how does this work okay
1:07:26
okay is she is she his daughter is she the scarecrow's daughter
1:07:32
or or did the scarecrow did the scarecrow marry her mother who
1:07:39
was you know the queen see i was wondering
1:07:44
this too because i thought dorothy i was like dorothy becomes the queen of oz
1:07:49
like the scarecrow is the king of oz so are they gonna consummate the marriage oh you're thinking that the oh you think
1:07:55
that they're gonna they're gonna hook up paul she's like 10 years old i know that's why i was like i was like
1:08:01
this seems wildly inappropriate in this movie i hope this is not what's going on here so i'm glad she reluctantly said no oh i
1:08:07
see what you mean oh yeah because if she would have agreed to be queen than this they would have been king and queen of oz yeah i don't even
1:08:14
want to but i'm not i'm going to make jokes about that but let's yeah let's just assume that the royalty the royalty
1:08:20
system works different in the land of oz because everything else is different the royalty must work different too you can
1:08:26
just appoint people as being king and queen because it's not like i don't like the the
1:08:33
scarecrow was never a prince and then became a king so they must it must the title must have
1:08:39
just been had bestowed on to him and the same as if dorothy would have been
1:08:45
queen if she would agree to be queen then she would have bestowed without honor and then dorothy and the scarecrow
1:08:52
would both bestow the privilege of being a prince or
1:08:57
prince that doesn't have to be part of their bloodline
1:09:04
that sounds very complicated but i'm going to trust you we're going to say this is a happy world here where nothing
1:09:09
nothing crazy and and evil happens there so yeah hopefully yeah that's what that's what's going on
1:09:15
there i don't know i was thinking but yeah it so whatever name is queen osman she i think
1:09:21
she's a queen so i think that's like that that's a scarecrow's wife now i guess
1:09:27
and this one at least at least in this form she looks like she's at least over 18. so it makes a little more sense but how old
1:09:32
is this scarecrow you know you just make a scarecrow scary could be like one years old you just stuff it full of
1:09:38
stuffing is it how old your clothes are is that how old the scarecrow is you know
1:09:43
think about that scarecrow could be yeah you know like you said as far as how much time as far as how much time has passed really the
1:09:50
scarecrow could be like a hundred years old we don't know we don't know how much we don't know the lives of space time uh
1:09:57
relative to uh the land of oz so yeah he who knows
1:10:03
who knows it's very true it's very true it's very complicated system tim yeah i know i mean i don't know overall
1:10:09
this is like it's another one of these nightmare movies i don't know why we picked a couple of these dark movies in
1:10:15
a row here yeah personally i was just curious to go back and watch it i wanted to watch it
1:10:20
as an adult and see if i got any of the same feelings as when i
1:10:25
was little the scary stuff and i this was a lot easier to get through as an adult but
1:10:31
i don't know i don't think i would show this to many kids no yeah this had again labyrinth vibes to me because it was
1:10:36
like another dark weird fantasy where this poor kid is abandoned by all the adults you just left to the just the
1:10:44
wild in the world and here you go good luck see you later kid and just a bunch of weird puppet friends
1:10:50
show up that are just complete misfits you know what i mean and that's that's just the whole thing so it's funny how
1:10:56
similar this is to alice in wonderland in in a lot of ways too like the whole off with their head
1:11:03
vibes from the royal your royal highness like in both movies this one in alice in
1:11:09
wonderland i think we're i think we're at the end of the yellow brick road on this one so we'll probably just click our ruby red
1:11:16
slippers together and say there's no place like home couple times and we'll get out of here what do you think tim yeah yeah i'm gonna go to
1:11:22
bed click click so that's it for us in this one we're just gonna let
1:11:28
uh mr jack pumpkin head himself see you out on this one are you sure you're not my mom are you?
