Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

Got The Mind Of Christ. Now What? S10e9 1cor2:16

Michael Smith Season 10 Episode 9

God wants to impart something to us that the heart of man has not even imagined.  It is beyond category.  We will probably need some help in our 1.5 Kg brains to understand it.  Fortunately, God has been planning this for a long time.

The Holy Spirit is the one who has the "foot in heaven": comprehending the mind of Christ, understanding the thoughts of God, and searching everything in the depths of God. He also indwells us, and is a Helper, Teacher to interpret spiritual truths. This is His "foot in my head."

So what is the big deal.  Why might this be important to me?  Because you are going to need it is practical application.  Life is hard.  Stepping correctly requires help.  That is called wisdom and this is how you get it.  Additionally, it is how you enjoy the pleasure of God.  Obviously, He's gone to great trouble to help us.

Michael Smith:

Good morning, my brothers and sisters, welcome to episode nine of be with me in the book of First Corinthians. I'm going to title today getting the mind of Christ of second title using the mind of Christ. Third title enjoying the mind of Christ, or in vernacular, I've got the mind of Christ. Now what? So we're in this little section where the Holy Spirit is helping reveal the thoughts of the Lord. So it's almost like God is speaking in French. He's speaking in God's speak, so to speak. And we need a translator, to get this French God speak into our understanding, because we don't speak French. We don't speak God speak. And the Holy Spirit is the one that understands both language, he's got a foot in both camps. That's what we're going to talk about over and over today is this foot in both camps, he's got a foot in the god camp, he goes up to Heaven understands God's discerns that things of God's and then communicates it with us brings it to us. So this has been going on for a long time, passage yesterday talked about him decreeing it from from long ago, gifting us with thoughts, to at least give us the ability to attach to these thoughts of God with the Holy Spirit's help. So the Holy Spirit has been up there searching the thoughts of Gods he sent directly from God. He's taking what is God's, he comprehends the thoughts of God, that's the one foot and then he's the helper. He's the guide into truth, He indwells us, He convicts the world, he works in our thoughts, he declares it to us. And we come to Him, and or He comes to us and makes his home with us. So he's one of his jobs is to teach us all things, and bring to our remembrance these things of God. All right, so here's the passage. This is from First Corinthians chapter two, we're going to start in verse nine, what no eye has seen nor heard, nor the heart of the mat, heart of man imagined what God has prepared for those who loved him. These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit, For the Spirit searches, everything, even the Depths of God, for who knows a person's thought, except the spirit of that person, which is in him. So also, no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words, not taught by human wisdom, but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him. And we talked about the stupid cross a couple days ago. And he is not able to understand that because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but his himself to be judged by no one, for who is understood the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct him, but we have the mind of Christ. So that's the big conclusion. We have the mind of Christ. So we're going to ask how did I get it? And what what did I get? How did I get it? And why is it important? Let's emphasize one more time, the power and the translation of the Holy Spirit. So he's, he's taking the thoughts of God, translating them to the thoughts of me, these comprehending the thoughts of God, and making them comprehensible to my three pound brain. He's taking spiritual truths and imparting them to his people. He's taking spiritual truths and communicating with those people who are spiritual. Now there's not everybody gets this, verse 14, the natural person doesn't accept it, because he thinks it's stupid. of First Corinthians chapter 118, basically says, so he got degrees, he's not able to understand because he doesn't have the mind of Christ. So let's talk about the people that do get the mind of Christ. What do they get? They get the mind of Christ. So how did they get this? First of all, you don't get it by earning and merit and achieving. Now you can be yielding to it you can be receiving of it, you can be faithful to it. But for the most part, understand that we are given this, it's gifted, and it's above our pay grade. So the Holy Spirit is how we get the mind of Christ. So we get the mind of Christ by the translation by the by the foot in both camps of the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit is kind of goes and fetches it from Christ himself. He's the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit. Another name for the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. He fetches it from Christ himself. So he comprehends the mind of Christ, he comprehends the thoughts of God versa. And he understands the mind of God. Verse 16, understands the mind of the Lord, He searches everything, even the Depths of God, verse 10. So he's active in, in my view of this, it's like in heaven, that's the foot that he has in heaven. And then He comes to us, He indwells us, he imparts by words, he teaches us by His Spirit, he interprets spiritual truths. So he has a foot in both camps. But he, but his abilities are that he has access an understanding of the mind of Christ. He also has access and understanding of our three brown brain minds, and then acts as a tutor, a teacher, a communicator, an importer of these words, a teacher of these words, to get the message from the heavenlies into the the earthly, which is us. So why is this important? Who cares if we have the mind of Christ? Well, you're going to need it, and you're going to want it and hopefully, you're going to treasure it. So verses six talks about wisdom. Now what's what's wisdom, wisdom is knowledge, but knowledge with boots on, it's the ability to take knowledge and put it into real life situation. So who wouldn't want the wisdom of God versus our wisdom? One thing that kind of came to my spirit today is this pleasure of God. He's planned this he and he talks about this being secret knowledge and hidden knowledge, but it's a secret he wants to show you. It's like playing hide and seek. It's, it's God wants to be found in this. And God takes pleasure in this. So he plans this and decrees this so that we can understand it. So it's very special. What he has for us is what no is seen what no ear is or nor the heart of man, imagine. It's beyond sort of category. And I think he wants us to enjoy it. So yes, I think what we should be doing today is yielding just a little bit and saying yes, I want the Holy Spirit. I want this package that God has been ready for me to open. I want access to it. I wanted him to influence us. So we can kind of yield to this and cooperate and listen. And why would we do this? Because he has something prepared for us that the heart of man has never even imagined. So that's awesome. Thanks for listening. I'll see you tomorrow.
