Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

Mary breaks the “Clinging rules” S28e163 Jn20:11

Michael Smith Season 28 Episode 163

Apparently, Mary Magdalene breaks the rules about holding on too  tightly to  to the resurrected Jesus. It is a sweet rule to break.

She is the first to see Jesus after His rising from the dead. She recognizes Him as He speaks her name. We'll all hear our name spoken by Jesus either in friendship or in judgment.

My recommendation is to receive Him kindly as Lord and friend, so He can address you kindly on that day. Subscribe. Like. Share.

Mary breaks the “Clinging rule” S28e163 Jn20:11

Scene 1: Guards, earthquake, angels and stoneMatt

Not to let Jesus out, but to reveal that He has already risen!; to REVEAL, not to RELEASE

Scene 2: Guards flee

Scene 3 Women approach VERY early in the morning earthq. Stone rolled

Scene 4 Mary takes off to tell disciples

Scene 5 HE HAS RISEN -announcement to WOMEN!

Scene 6 Charged with the greatest news. RUN. Fear/joy tremble/astonish

Scene 7 John 20:3-10 Peter and John run to the tomb and see that it is empty having

They had not yet understood: HE MUST RISE. All depends on this.

Almost as if they must come to a theological understanding.

As we start this scene: They saw angels but NOBODY HAS SEEN THE LORD.

Join me now in Scene 8: Mary mag: She now receives RELATIONAL understanding.

Scene 8 MARY MAG  SEES the Lord returns  tomb and then THIS happens.

Mark 16:9 Mary Magdalene. One of the only heros there for Jesus before, during and after the crucifixion. Continuting in a ministry TO JESUS of generosity, faithfulness, bravery. Witness. She just keeps on showing up. returns to the tomb weeping, not having heard the angels say that Jesus has been raised, .She started this earlymorning in a group. Took off at the sight of the rolled stone, no guards and maybe an earthquake. Peter and John took off running. She’s already run one circuit and here finds herself ISOLATED at the tomb.and Jesus appears to her.John 20:11-17

11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels .Mary goes supernaturalin white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” .Again. Theft theme. Stolen Jesus. Yet another insult foisted upon Him. Stolen Jesus, Dead Jesus, Wanted to spice Him on the third day 14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesusstanding, .Cannot emphasize this enough: MARY mag is the first to see Jesus after the resurrection. What a treasure. What a gift. What an honor. Jesus is the firstborn from the dead. Mary mag is the first to SEE IT. See HIM. First to see Him. First to HEAR HIM. Two angels Inside, One risen savior OUTSIDE but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking ?” Supposing him to be the gardener.Makes sense. Not just a tomb at this place of burial. There is a garden. Gardens don’t just happen. Require ongoing maintainence. Hot., she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” .Theft. wrong. Identity wrong. Eyes: Jesus has a resurrection body. Jesus has a body that He is going to take into heaven forever. Jesus has the same body today as on this morning. Different enough bodily to not be appreciated by Mary, His friend of years. 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” .Recognize!. Not stolen. Not gardener. Not regular body, but consistent enough. Love that it is her NAME. Her name. It is what we all want to hear from the risen Lord. You had me at the speaking of my name. She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, .Mary clings to Jesus.Have contact with. Hold on to. Retain in the hand. To fasten oneself to. To bind together. Why said? Because  Mary wasn’t letting go.for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers .Could have said Knuckleheads, my abandoners, deserters. Nope. BROTHERS and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.

Are you ready to see and hear Jesus after the resurrection?

Are you ready to hear Jesus speak your name in intimacy, in relationship?

Other choiceAre you. Ready to hear your name spoken in JUDGmENT?

Everybody is going to say, I have seen the Lord.   You will, I will, Satan will, demons will. Then what.

Will the. Lord speak to you in friendship. RElationshiop?

The Lord speaks in friendship to those who have themselves friends by fait

Or Will the Lord speak to you in BROKEN relationshiop and judgment?

Have you spoken to the Lord in friendship?

Have you spoken to the Lord in recognition of His Lordship? Accomplishment? Conquering death? Paying an unjust penalty upon Himself, the worst humanity has ever invented, so that you don’t have that just penalty fall upon you—Have you received Him. Have you received it?

Like Mary. CLING to Jesus. Fasten your wagon to His. Bind yourself to Him.

Hold on so much that He has to say to you: OK that is enough. You can let go of me…Break the rules. If you hear your name called, you’ll cling too!

I hope you get to HEAR YOUR NAME, break the rules and cling to Jesus.
