Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Spiritually Bradycardic. Being “slow of heart” S28e167 Lk24:13
We are walking through the scenes of the resurrection. We are using Johnand the other gospels to “see it from their perspective”. Why?
So we can see it from our perspective, with their help, their experience
We can “put ourselves in the story” learn something. Be rebuked, as many of them were rebuked in certain ways.
Pilate was told he was sinning RIGHT NOW and ignored it
11 disciples ran away
Today: FOOLISH slow of HEART.
Tragically, Scene 10 was the resurrection revealation ladies going to the group of non-revealed disciples, only to receive their unbelief, their suspicion and even accusation that it was crazy. Cut them some slack, as
The road from thinking this Worthless to Worship is travelled with help as He opens minds and hearts—
Yes, I understand that the good Lord is the big mover of people from the kingdom of the world to the kingdom of heaven
If you are a believer right now, If Jesus is your Lord, If you worship Himwithout hesitation, know this: He has helped you. He has extended mercyand grace and even capacity to know Him.
You certainly have a story about how YOU FOUND JESUS. But think of this:
HE CERTAINLY HAS A STORY ABOUT HOW HE FOUND YOU.
You have been pursued, sought, rescued. Bought with the price of Good Friday. He endured suffering for the joy of knowing and being with you.
But people have agency and responsibility and accountablitly.
Scene 11 REBUKE on the road to Emmaus
Luke 24:13-3513 That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. . What is it like to have Jesus Himself DRAW NEAR toyou? Those of you who are believers KNOW this already. You cannot be a believer without the help, the proximity and the pursuit of Jesus. You have benefitted by a WIND ASSIST. John 3:8
Similarly, some of you are being hunted by Jesus right now with intent. Perhaps He is DRAWING NEAR to you. If so say yes. Say help. I humbly say, I don’t know if any eyes today are BEING KEPT from recognizing. If so, that is His prerogative and is above my paygrade. But I DO know this: He has gone through great trouble to help us TO RECOGNIZE.17 And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” . Stops them in their tracks. The questions of Jesus ALWAYS do this. Let’s summarize. Let’s confess. And they stood still, looking sad. 18 Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deedand word before God and all the people, 20 and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. . Betraying the truth about what I believe about Jesus. He’ll call them foolishin a moment as they build an argument for the wrong Jesus. AMAZING, but not LORD. He’ll call them slow of heart. You could have done better with the information that I have given you. I have assessed your heart and found it, diagnosed it as SLOW. Sluggish. Bradycardic spiritually. Perhaps these guys would have come to real belief without this cardiac intervention on the roadYes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. 22 Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.” 25 And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! . Step one: believe the OT. I have given you everything you need to know there. Do you love the OT? Do you soak in the wisdom of Joseph and recoil from the foolishness of Lot? Do you cringe at the sin of David and admire his repentant heart? Step two: Look at this data points you’ve been given: Knowledge about the third day;
Empty tomb; concerning, unless you have following:
Amazing testimony from Women, trustworthy, faithful women(who we are not believing just yet)
Testimony of of Angels. He’s not here: He’s risen—just like He said
Step three: believe the NEW Testament.
Reports of sighting. By my count, at least 6 people have seen the risen Lord. 10 + if you count the four soldiers.
BeingSLOW OF HEART to believe.Don’t be spiritually bradycardic. You can do better.
