Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

YOU CAN DO BETTER S28e168 Luke 24:18
Jesus gives a medium sized rebuke to the duo on the road to Emmaus on Easter Sunday. Basically, "YOU CAN DO BETTER".
BTW: the whole OT is about me.
BTW: Breaking bread as an ordinance of the church at the Lord's tabernacle reveals me in a special way.
With these words, right from the resurrected Jesus, their eyes were opened. I pray that ours may be as well. Subscribe.

YOU CAN DO BETTER S28e168 Luke 24:18
Scene 11 Rebuke on the road to Emmaus-in what?
2 peopple , one male on 7 mile walk from Jerusalem
Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.
18 Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20 and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel.
They are committed to looking for; to seeing the wrong Jesus:
Physical redeemer of the Occupied Jewish land
Man of God, mighty in deed and word, even a prophet
Done some awesome things.
MISSING JESUS. Missing Him as LORD. Missing Him as being of another category: the Lord category. He is Lord who sometimes prophesies
Isaish, Jeremiah elisha category. Not a prophet who is sometimes Lord
Then they list all that they’ve seen: Knowledge about the third day;
Empty tomb; concerning, unless you have following:
Amazing testimony from Women, trustworthy, faithful women(who we are not believing just yet)
Testimony of of Angels. He’s not here: He’s risen—just like He said
Step three: believe the NEW Testament.
Reports of sighting. By my count, at least 6 people have seen the risen Lord. 10 + if you count the four soldiers.
, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! REBUKED: Slow of heart to believe
Ie: you should have been faster.
You had all you required.
26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. .Jesus, is in the Old Testament. He is in the Creation and the relationships, and in the people’s wrestling with God and in the Rescue
He interpreted the OT concerning HIMSELF
The OT cannot be properly understood absent Jesus.
Granted, sometimes HELP is required to see it.
To give the sense of it is why you should pay your pastor and podcaster
PEOPLE sometimes, or often help interpret the Word.
What kind of people? (Jesus if you can, but otherwise
Prepared, knowledgable, humble, boweddownbefore the Word people
This should/could/will result in BURNING HEARTS from Jesus
28 So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, 29 but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them. 30 When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. 32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” 33 And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34 saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” 35 Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.
Their eyes were opened. By Jesus & word By the rite of bread breaking.
Certainly we can see Jesus in a special way with the Lords supper
God has chosen to be revealed in this ordinance of the Church
Baptism is another one
The spiritual fog is lifted a little during participation in this practice
See a God a little more clearly.
Teaching: don’t hesitate to participate. EXPECT to see Him.
A journey through breaking of bread leads you back to CROSS and the breaking of Jesus for you. Ultimately very humbling.
Conclusions
Get the real Jesus. The Lord Jesus. The one that asks something of you
Not the 2-d. Real one will involve tears, action, money.
It will also involve REBUKE: slow of heart to believe
Rebuke wasn’t to push them away, but to bring them back
Then you’ll know youre on the right track
Get the word in your life.
Be a student of the word yourself and with somebody set ahead
Break bread in the Lord’s supper
This means no online services. Real people. Real rubbing should.
Be ready to have Him be known to you in the breaking
Who are your people? Who do you break bread w? What people
Do they know you are one of them.
YOU CAN DO BETTER. Fellowship. Word. Lord’s supper.
