Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Had not been well received yet:Luke24: after they told these things to the apostles, 11 but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them
John 20:19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them!!!!!! and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 LUKE 24:45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,(If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”)
Doors locked: Why fear of somebody. Romans? Jews.

Their “faith”, shaky, disbelieving—becomes, is becoming SIGHT.
Marvelling, joy, and we are there at the moment of their unbelief
They SEE that the resurrection is true
The rest of their lives was completely dependent on this moment…
In a sense, so is yours!
Either this scene happened or is made up and your faith is futile.
End of story. Jesus is real. Alive. Did what He said.
Beginning of the disciples missional story.
The truth of this statement marches 10/11 to their martyrdom
First words: Peace be with you.
SENDING: As the father sent me, I am sending you.
This is a universal truth. Not just for these 11 and others
If you are a believer, you are sent.
Things will happen to you, and you will find yourself sent.
You will be a sent-one into nooks and crannies of this world that you are His representative: to your family, to your neighborhood, workplace, hospital, and hobbies. Big thought for the day: YOU ARE SENT
Body of Jesus
Verified body: showed them His hands and sides. Luke Touch me and see. A spirit does not have flesh and bones AS YOU SEE.
Verified for them, verified for US
Asks for something to EAT. Mouth teeth tongue stomach Gi Tract Ate it`
John 20: 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
Important to know Jesus has a body. Resurrection body. It is of some substance “flesh bones”, Injury: holes for fingers and HANDS’
Can eat; Can go thru doors. Can be ascended
Pay attention to the description, because we will see and embrace this body, as described here. No indication that it is going to change…EVER.
This is the same body, that we will see in the heavenly kingdom.
Why eat? There will be feasting. We will use our new heavenly bodies in that way.
Why flesh and bones? Agency, movement,
Why thru doors: Spiritual component of new heavenly matter or properties
RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.
The resurrection changes. Everything.
The giving of the HS changes everything. 3 days before:
John16TEASER:12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you
Luke 24: 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,= receive the HS
For this sending, equipping you witht the Spirit and with Scripture. His presence.
Conclusion:
Do you believe in the resurrection?
If so, you have the Holy Spirit. Are you acting like it?
Are. You acting like you should be understanding Scriptures?
Not to say, you might not need some help, occasionally, but in general, it should be understandable, applicable, inlightening, encouraging, rebuking, and leading you towards AWE
If easter is real, you have been sent
If so, where have you been sent? Who are your people?
Are you missional in the places you have been sent.
You have His presence. You’ll someday have a heavenly body. You have His Spirit. You have a new relationship with the WORD. You have a new understanding.And you have a sending. If easter is real, you have HIM.You have His SPIRIT. And you have been sent. You have a new relationshiop with the SCRIPTURES

36 As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37 But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touchme, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” ?Disbelieved for joy. “no way!” I can’t believe you made it! Shock and awe . 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate before them.
44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 Andbehold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
