Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Throw yourself into the sea S28E175 JN21:7
Maybe you have heard the phrase, "run to Jesus". Well, what if there is a body of water between Him and you? Peter answers that problem. He "THROWS HIMSELF into the SEA!"
It is a practical illustration of good theology. Remember, no matter what you are doing today, you are Bi-vocational. You'll be representing Jesus wherever you are. You will need every bit of Him, so throw yourself into the sea!

Throw yourself into the sea S28E175 JN21:1
Jesus is revealing Himself to the disciples, and us by extension, post resurrection. Most often,Because we forget, most often, if the revelation is not FRESH, there is no revelation. We MUST have fresh exposure to have fresh disclosure.
Jesus is unrecognized without help.Get a wind assist with the Spirit blowing where He will. Unseen, but not without effect. 1 Cor 12: 3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.
This revelation: God showing Himself involved a decision. A boat. The Lord. And fish. They are in Galilee, supposed to be on a Mountain. And they go to waterlevel.
3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Were told to wait on the mountain in Galilee, now fishing. Impulsive?
Returning to previous way of life? Livelihood?
Behold an. Hour is coming for you to be scattered each to his own
Challenges to the Disciples didn’t end when they left Jerusalem. Many more
Own livelihood, own business, property, possessions affairs
Going back to the way things were at the beginning
Back to my boat. Greek recognizes a specific article, probably referring to a specific boat. Back to my business.
Or, does Jesus change everything? 4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea
What are we going to do? Are we returning to our old life? Or not?
Interesting that Jesus meets them here. Are we really gonna fish for fish?
I can do fish. I can do money. I can do success.
Or are we gonna be involved in my incredible process of salvation.
I understand that only God saves, BUT…He invites us, commands us involve
Are we going to be involved in fishing for men
The disciples are fishing, again. Who will provide for the disciples? Who will care for the needs of the disciples? Jesus demonstrates who is ultimately in charge of, and provider for, the family of God.Or, are they on their own?
What kind of people are portrayed by the post resurrection disciples? Dependent. Needing help to recognize Him. Foolishness of Gospel.
Jesus supplies 153 fish. Fish I can do. I can provide all the fish in the world. Poof: you got fish. Fish are easy. How many more do you want.
But for YOU, what is your call? Do you want to be involved in the most difficult thing in the world? To help and bear witness with men and women changing their minds. Moving their souls from and earthly kingdom to a heavenly one. God is doing His part, but He asks human workers to be a part of His work . Let’s see what Peter does: !” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea
Peter: Hey, I am going to fish. I am going to attract a fishing possey.
Peter: I also am going to jump out of the boat.
I am going to follow the Lord.
Don’t forget, he is still Peter BEFORE the Holy Spirit. If you want to see Peter AFTER the Holy Spirit, Read First Peter. Read 2nd Peter
Perhaps this is His challenge: Do you want your life to be MORE THAN fish.More than your previous life. More than stuff. More than provision. More than houses. More than means to production. More than boats.
This is not for professionals. For Pastors, For priests and church workers.
If you are a Christian, you have been Called. If you have been called, you have been SENT. Who gets sent? EVERYBODY. Where?: Where might you find yourself just today? Start with that. Work? Home? Children? Service? Shopping? In the hospital? Whatever you are doing today, you are bi-vocational
How might we respond: Peter THREW Himself into the sea.
Where? Deposited Himself in the Lord.
Rushed in doing so. When? NOW
Why? Because Jesus is there. Run to Him. If there is water there throw yourself into the SEA!
