Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Scene 15 of ResurrectionPeter and Jesus
When we last left our scenes after the resurrection Peter THREW Himself into the sea. Deposited Himself in the Lord ASAP. He’s got some business to attend to, business to conclude with Jesus.
In a sense, this interaction will conclude his business priorty wise
The scene is after a long night of fishing. Appearance. Miracle. Recognizingand then response. Threw Himself into the sea.
Then they had a shared breakfast
John 21: 15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
Peter: I am talking to you. I saw you uniquely right as you betrayed me, for a third time to a young woman/mob/ those who recognized you.
Thomas was hard hearted, mostly. One inch left of belief in him.
Judas just couldn’t go there—stayed in regret, but couldn’t get all the way to repentance. He objectively looked at the situation and saw that it was a badsituation, but he couldn’t own it, acknowledge it, turn from it, repent of it, agree with God about it and have a change of heart
Do you love me more than what? Fishing stuff. Boat. Nets. Maybe even the comradare of work.
Do you love me more than your attempts at self fulfillment; driving the self bus? Who is going to take the wheel of your life. Will your life be marked by fish, or business deals, or family, or beauty, or power of this world, or will your life be marked by souls. What’s in your OBIT?
Will you be involved in increasing the soul count of this world?
This is ultimately a call for all believers. All of us are SENT.
Whose business model are you going to ascribe to?
Do your life with all it’s pie pieces and have Jesus be a slice?
Do your life with the whole pie being of Jesus?
Macarthur states the reality of. Walking with Jesus most clearly: Our Lord’s message is NOT user friendly
At least in this sense: self sacrifice, service. Giving. Inconvenience, unending. Asks us to start with Him, walk with Him. For how long? Asks us to finish in Him, Finish with Him, Finish for Him.
Jesus challenges Peter with the HIGH CALL: Christian service, fellowship, under the merciful eye and hand of Jesus.
NOT EASY If not easy, why do it?
What is plan B. Do you have an alternative salvation plan that works effectively to achieve eternal life? Forgiveness of sin?
I thought so.
Let me make an argument for WHY we should say YES.USER FRIENDLY
1.You get yourself You get a name—
you are SEEN by Him. Identified. Called. yourself
You get identified as your best self. Ultimately, HE has a higher standard for the hopes of your life than you do. He loves you more than you do. Can this be true? I love yourself a LOT
Do you want your best self? Your best life? The most love? !! yes.!!
2. You get His people
Yup, people are messy. They are referred to as sheep.
For those of you who are married: forgive me. But don’t you think you married a stubborn sheep every once in a while. Don’t think too highly of your position, your spouse is occasionally thinking same thing about you.
This is a way that the LORD choses to be seen—thru people
He implants His gifts where? In people. In sheep. You wanna see the multitude of the facets of God? Of course, look to His word. What is #2? Look to His people.
Do you have a deep love/care/commitment to people of God?
Your love for the people of God is indistinguishable from, and proportional to your love for God. PROVE ME WRONG.
You get Him Lord tells Abram, not yet Abraham, that He is making a covenant with him. Ultimately, covenant is an ongoing relationship with Him. Fear not Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great. I am your reward.
Do you want a relationship now and forever with the Almighty?
If so, choose me over this boat. Love me more than this boat.
