DEMONSTRATING OBEDIENCE IN LOCATION S29e5 Dt2:1

The people of Israel are on an epic journey.  It's taken 40 years for a trip that was less than 40 days.  They are learning obedience, obedience of LOCATION. 

They go through a land-lessons on the way.  The Lord has given land to people groups previously, so He can give land to you.

DEMONSTRATING OBEDIENCE IN LOCATION S29e5 Dt2:1

Forty day journey through the wilderness is turning into a fourty YEAR journey into the wilderness. They were heading to the land of promise, the promised land.  

One problem: unbelief. Refusal to go in. Why? Wrong assumption of God

This is after: I am YOUR God; I fight for you. I go before you.I give clear guideposts to you in the day and the night. I show you the way to go. I carry you like a father carries his son

Wrong belief of God results in wrong behaviors

         Wrong belief: God hates me

         Wrong behaviors: I’m not following His clear commands. I won’t be carried like a son; I wont’ be fought for. I will not be shown the way to go. I’m going to not follow this guy MOSES very well either. 

Today: consequences. Summary of 40 years

2 “Then we turned and journeyed into the wilderness in the direction of the Red Sea, as the Lord told me. And for many days (40 years 14600 days) we traveled around Mount Seir. 2 Then the Lord said to me, 3 ‘You have been traveling around this mountain country long enough.MOMENT THAT ENDS THE WILDERNESS WANDERING Turn northward 4 and command the people, “You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful. 5 Do not contend with them, for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession. 6 You shall purchase food from them with money, that you may eat, and you shall also buy water from them with money, that you may drink. 7 For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He knows your going through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.” ’ 8 So we went on, away from our brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir, away from the Arabah road from Elath and Ezion-geber. SEAPORT on RED SEA. NE head

WHO is Esau? Jacob’s twin. The one who sold his birthright for a pot of porrage.  One who did not get the primary first-born blessing. Esau HATED Jacob because of this in Gen 27. After our father Jacob dies THEN IS WILL KILL my brother Jacob. Their mother said your brother Esau COMFORTS himself by this plan. Arise, Flee until your brother’s anger TURNS away from you and he forgets what you have done to him.

 500 year old Wound is still fresh. 

God reminds them: this is not your battle. Do not fight with Esau’s descend.

You have money, you have all the riches of Egypt Ex12: 35 The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing. 36 And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

People of Moses have all the money in the world, but no PLACE in this world

Their true treasure, besides being full of money now, is the Person and the presence and the instruction of the Lord.

This is not the time for settling old scores with family members who did not happen to be in the singular line of the rescue of mankind. 100,000 ft:

Remember, this settling into the land is the PLACE for the rescue

      I’ve given ESAU Land, and I’m giving YOU Land

Amidst the people of Israel is the PROGENITORs of the Rescuer Jesus

“And we turned and went in the direction of the wilderness of Moab. 9 And the Lord said to me, ‘Do not harass Moab or contend with them in battle, LOT”S DESCNDENTS. ABRAHAM NEPHEW for I will not give you any of their land for a possession, because I have given Ar to the people of Lot for a possession.’ 10 (The Emim formerly lived there, a people great and many, and tall as the Anakim. (11 Like the Anakim they are also counted as Rephaim, but the Moabites call them Emim. )12 The Horites also lived in Seir formerly, but the people of Esau dispossessed them and destroyed them from before them and settled in their place, as Israel did to the land of their possession, which the Lord gave to them.) 13 ‘Now rise up and go over the brook Zered.’ So we went over the brook Zered. 14 And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them. 15 For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the camp, until they had perished.

Israelites feard the anakim. Who did God dispossess for Moab to have it’s God-given Land? A people just as tall as the ANAKIM. Point is: I am powerful, you have nothing to fear

I am a protector of the people and the land that I give. 

I gave and preserved Land for people that were even more knuckleheaded than you! I gave land to the Esau’s and Lot’s descendents. I moved people groups out . I can do the same for you.

I am giving you a possession.

You must begin to take a possession.

         Start with obeying. Start with following. Start by bypassing Lot’s and Esaus’ land.
