Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Sitting in the buttertub of grace S29e13 Dt4:32
If you sit in the butter tub of grace, what should you be thinking?
If you sit in the butter tub of grace, what should you be remembering?
If you sit in the butter tub of grace, what should you be doing?
Moses asks this 3500 years ago. It is just as current as I ask it this morning.
One thing perhaps to do: subscribe so you get more butter to sit in tomorrow

Sitting in the buttertub of grace S29e13 Dt4:32
Ask now of the days past ie: remember
Ask everywhere: from one end of heaven to another
Has anything this great ever happened before?
YOU SIT IN THE BUTTERTUB of grace. WHY? How? What should you do?
Heard the voice?
Taken a nation to free it by a might Hand and outstretched Arm?
To you it was show: The Lord is God
He let you hear His voice to discipline you.
The voice of a parent is a voice of love AND correction,
Direction and protection
See His fire
Loved you and your children
Drives out nations to bring you in and give you an inheritance
KNOW this.
Therefore: keep statutes, live long, that it may go well with you
Live long and prosper
The Lord Alone Is God
Dt. 4:32 “For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of. 33 Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live? 34 Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? 35 To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him. 36 Out of heaven he let you hear his voice, that he might discipline you. And on earth he let you see his great fire, and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire. 37 And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspringafter them and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power, 38 driving out before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day, 39 know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. 40 Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.”
For us today
Is there anything so great as the Lord in your life, your family, world?
Is there anything better than the presence and voice of the Lord?
You mean to tell me that the Lord STILL speaks?
Yes, through His word, through those who are faithful to Word,
And from the still small voice of conviction
If we are now the peculiar people of God, His chosen, His family, His redemptive target, that we now sit in the buttertub of His grace, is anything so great.
You mean to tell me that the Lord still calls, gathers, and moves a people?
Thank you Lord that I sit in the buttertub of grace
In fact the buttertub is more defined, refined than 3500 yr ago
It is the definitive, redemptive, even excessive work of Jesus
It is in the ongoing, indwelling, correcting HS
You mean to tell me the Lord still lets us see His character and Characteristics? And see His activity in ourselves and in those around us?
Get to see people serve, obey, be baptized, yes: change minds believe!
If that is not His FIRE today, I don’t know what is…
So Yes, the Lord still works. The Lord still indwells.
And Yes, the people of God can still respond rightly
They can realize they sit in the butter tub of grace
They can realize they still receive the prescence and the pruning of His spirit.
The Lord is the Same God in every way and
The WAY He works is very similar but better
His works are more redemptive, His presence is closer, His plan is more revealed, His Word is more complete,
We have no excuse. Not as much of an excuse.
We can or cannot respond rightly.
Thank you for still speaking in Your People and Your Word
I worship You for this great plan you enacted in these 1000s yr and Today
Lord, I sit in the historical and current buttertub of communication, of selection, of favor, of truth,
I am grateful I am worshipful I am. Obedient evangelical
I am commit to be obedient to what you say
Burn my heart in compassion for those who need you tody
