Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

He brings us out, so He might bring us WHERE? S29e19 Dt6:16

Michael Smith

He brings us out, that he might bring us in. Where?

To HIMSELF. He is the treasure. He is the reward. He is the prize.

Know that the LORD brings us out for a reason: It is to bring us into a relationship with HIMSELF.

And that, is the greatest treasure of all.

He brings us out, so He might bring us WHERE? S29e19 Dt6:16

The Lord brought us out. Why? That He might bring us in.

You are saved for a purpose.

You are rescued not that you stay in the place of rescue

The people of God had a purpose from God.

Has to be true today: the people of God HAVE a purpose from God.

He brings us out of sin to bring us in to sanctification.

16 “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah. 17 You shall diligently keepthe commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you. 18 And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may go well with you, and that you may go in and take possession of the good land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers 19 by thrusting out all your enemies from before you, as the Lord has promised.

20 “When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’ 21 then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. 22 And the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes. 23 And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land that he swore to give to our fathers. 24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day. 25 And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.’

He brings us out of being a spiritual orphan to bring us in to spiritual adopt.

Out of trying to earning justification to just receiving unearned grace

Caution from yesterday: when He brings you in and times are good, when you are in the buttertub of grace, take care lest you forget the Lord

Lay this warning to heart in the good times.

You will cry out to Him in the bad times,

It is easier to find God in the tempest than in tranquility

If you have been blessed, be careful

Observation about the bible: Title of podcast is BE WITH ME, it is a big theme of the Bible. He brings us out, that he might bring us in. Where?

To HIMSELF. He is the treasure. He is the reward. He is the prize

The problem with the so called prosperity gospel isn’t that it focuses too much on the rewards of Christianity. It just has the rewards wrong.

Rather than profit and planes, it is the PERSON of God.

So is there something? No wait, there IS SOMETHING to be brought out of.

What is it that our dear Lord might desire to bring you OUT OF? I’ll wait…

I cannot tell you this. Because everyone is different.

If you cannot think of anything try this:

Pick someone you knew well, and that knows you well to observe.

What would someone who knew you WELL say was something I would be better for if I was brought out of it.

Let them pick the category, the flaw, the sin. What would it be?

Besetting character flaw? Temptation that causes you particular suffering?

Here’s what I DO know: He wants to bring you out of it. WHY?

Big Point: He wants to bring you OUT of it so that He might bring you IN.

Where? To Himself. To fellowship with Him. Fellowship with his family.

This is why we study the OT and the NT. The pattern is the same in both. God is calling a people. In both testaments He calls out so He can bring in.

Love the broad, bumbling and even bloody strokes of the OT

Love the personal, detailed and fulfilled insights of the NT.

In our passage today, he challenges His people to TAKE POSSESSION of the land, and in the NT, take possession of Himself. It is to receive Him initially in a salvation decision, and to continue to take possession of the blessing that is Himself in the walk of sanctification.

Diligently keep what He has told us

Don’t  put Him to the test

Do right in His sight

Tell this to your sons and grandsons

Tell this to your spiritual sons and grandsons

Fear the Lord that we may live abundantly

Finally, know that the LORD brings us out for a reason: It is to bring us IN. Where? To a relationship with HIMSELF.

And that, is the greatest treasure of all
