Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
“The battle is the Lord’s”, but the fight is yours s29e47 Dt20:1
Today, Be READY for a fight.—perhaps temptation; evil, sickness, or even a grief.
But, be ready to have the Lord go with you into battle.
It is not “let go and let God”, more like, LET'S GET GOING WITH GOD.
The battle is the Lord’s, but the fight is yours.
Or at least ½ yours. He fights with you. He let's you fight.
The battle is the Lord’s, AND the fight is yours. AND the fight is His. subscribe for more fisticuffs tomorrow.

“The battle is the Lord’s”, but the fight is yours s29e47 Dt20:1
You may have heard the term, the battle is the Lord’s. Ultimately that is true. Theologically that is true.
But who’s sword and efforts does He typically use.
It is not “let go and let God.”, more like, LET”S GET GOING WITH GOD
We’ll learn what was required to be a soldier of the Lord in 1250bc.
What to do before you get there; Start before you draw near.
Primarily to do with your circumstances of life and especially your heart.
Laws Concerning Warfare
20 “When you go out to war against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 2 And when you draw near to the battle, the priest shall come forward and speak to the people 3 and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, 4 for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’ 5 Then the officers shall speak to the people, saying, ‘Is there any man who has built a new house and has not dedicated it? Let him go back to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man dedicate it. 6 And is there any man who has planted a vineyard and has not enjoyed its fruit? Let him go back to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man enjoy its fruit. 7 And is there any man who has betrothed a wife and has not taken her? Let him go back to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man take her.’ 8 And the officers shall speak further to the people, and say, ‘Is there any man who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go back to his house, lest he make the heart of his fellows melt like his own.’ 9 And when the officers have finished speaking to the people, then commanders shall be appointed at the head of the people.
1Your fear could melt the the heart of your fellow soldiers. Your fear or your footing affects others. Be careful with your fear. Set your heart against it. My guess is that if your heart foundation is poor, it is because:
: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, 4 for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’
1faint hearts are from failure to know that it is the Lords fight
½ of the fight, HE GOES WITH YOU to fight for you against your enemies.
This is going to require a cooperative effort. That is:
YOU are not excused from fighting. Christianity is not for sissies.
There are battles. There is fighting. The Lord fights by fighting with you
“The battle is the Lord’s”, but the fight is yours. Or ½ yours. He fights with you.
There is a season for single minded fighting
But what if you are not single minded. It is not a good season
What if it is not yet a season of harvest
What if it is a time of engagement and romance
What if it is a season of building a house
What if you are enjoying the blessings of God in housing marriage and crops
Conclusions:
The battle is the Lord’s, but the fight is yours.
What happens if we get this wrong right out of the chute?
Your fear could melt the the heart of your fellow soldiers. Your fear or your footing affects others. Be careful with your fear. Set your heart against it.
Terrible thing to say: your fear rages so hot, that it MELTS THE HEART of those near you
Clear teaching: get your heart right and ready and fit for battle
Be READY for a fight.—temptation; evil, sickness, or even a grief
Be ready to have the Lord go with you into battle
Be with me—what’s the big battle that you are facing: relationship, health, work, money, temptation
Is the Lord invited in? Have you asked Him to the battle?
Be ready for the Lord to fight for you and with you
If not, get busy
Yes, get ready to have the Lord fight
Yes He fights FOR you. Yes He fights WITH you.
If so, get ready to fight yourself
It is not “let go and let God.”, more like, LET”S GET GOING WITH GOD

The battle is His. The battle is yours

Or ½ yours. He fights with you.
