Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

What is love like? S29e51 Dt22:1
If you want to learn about LOVE, you'd best look to the OX. Like a stray OX, Love is inconvenient, Love is intrusive and you will be tempted to ignore it.
Similarly, a decision to love is inconvenient, intrusive and you’ll be tempted ignore engaging in the whole business.
What is love like? If it involves a wandering OX, then run to the OX.

What is love like? S29e51 Dt22:1
What is love like? It probably will involve an OX driveway CRAZY Teaching.
You have heard: Love your neighbor as yourself. Lev19:18
Today: Love your neighbors OX as you love your neighbor
Such a wonderful passage. Watch for the star: the OX
22 “You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep going astray and ignore them. You shall take them back to your brother. 2 And if he does not live near you and you do not know who he is, you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall stay with you until your brother seeks it. Then you shall restore it to him. 3 And you shall do the same with his donkey or with his garment, or with any lost thing of your brother’s, which he loses and you find; you may not ignore it. 4 You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again.
Most interesting part of this passage for me: is that as I see somone else’s OX that is astray, I will be tempted to ignore it.
Tendency to here say: this is not my problem.:
First temptation is to ignore it. You are gonna Wanna ignore it.***
“I didn’t see the random OX in my driveway.”*****
In fact , Warning here is that you must not specifically see it and ignore it.
Imagine: You are just driving home from the store, there’s an OX in driveway
Why the temptation to ignore?
Because of what is says next: listen!
Even if you do not know the dude, you are to bring the ox home. X2
2 And if he does not live near you and you do not know who he is, you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall stay with you until your brother seeks it.
You might not even know the guy because he might not be local
What if I don’t know the dude? Or the ox? Or the TIMING
How long? …Hour? Day? Week? No: until he finds you.
Meantime, you are burdened with an OX
Have you ever watched someone’s dog for a weekend or a week?
Suddenly, you have an OX in your driveway not sure when the owner will be back and He weighs 71 times more than my 35# dog
You may be helping someone you do not know, for a time that you do not know, via an ox that belongs in a location you do not know.
You have heard that the definition of a good soldier, is one who doesn’t run away from the sound of gunfire: a hero is one who Runs TO THE sound of gunfire—this passage says: RUN TO THE OX
You and I both know that an OX is an inconvenient bedfellow
Theyre Big,(ton)thirsty, hungry, smelly, poopy, dangerous
know specifically: uncooperative, : know for sure.
If He was cooperative, he’d still be with his real owner
He, the OX comes with no nametag, but he does come with a pricetag
Full grown cow worth 2-5000$ Working ox, even morelife &death
8ConclusionsThough this passage Addresses property rights, but the property rights is really just a means to an end. The end is love
This passage is about love.***
: Love your neighbor as yourself Lev 19:18 What is love like? Learn from ox
Will be inconvenient: take them back to your brother

Will be incursive, invasive, and you’ll be tempted to ignore it
What is love like?
It is like a soldier Running to the sound of Gunfire;
Here, we have a neighbor, or perhaps a non-neighbor w lost ox
a charge to love ; IS a charge to Run. Where? run to the OX
Good title for today: run to the OX, but I chose what is love like?
Passage is about love. told Thruough the story of a lost OX
Three “I”s of love It will be inconvenitent, it will be intrusive
First is before you start: you will be tempted to ignore this incursion
Love is inconvenient, Love is intrusive. You will be tempted to ignore it
A decision to love is inconvenitnet, intrusive and you’ll be tempted ignore
You will be tempted to. Ignore the incursion
Scripture here teaches to run to the battle relationally.
Run to the gunfireRun to the Ox
Challenge: go out to the driveway of your life. Look around for this really big thingthat is intrusive, inconvenient, expensive and do a gut check: if you are tempted to ignore it, you are probably on to something.
What is love like? It will probably involve an OX.—run to the OX
