Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Are there moral principles of sexual conduct? S29e53 Dt22:13
Today we’ll hear that The moral principles of sexual conduct are the same today as they were 3500 years ago.
This should lead us to a reverence, humility, and silence and as we come to this topic.
Likely, you have been spared the just punishment that surrounds this topic, NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE INNOCENT. You have been spared because the perfectly innocent, JESUS, has come to bear your punishment.

Are there moral principles of sexual conduct? S29e53 Dt22:13
Yesterday we talked about how our maleness or femaleness is integral to accurately bear the image of God Himself.
God desires that we’d thrive in this role He’s given to carry this image into the world.
And we landed on the idea that we should have reverence as we bear the IMAGE of God clearly in our maleness or our femaleness.
we will again hear of the abuse of maleness and femaleness as they relate to God and to each other in sexual sins.
Today we’ll hear that The moral principles of sexual conduct are the same today as they were 3500 years ago
13 “If any man takes a wife and goes in to her and then hates her 14 and (FALSELY)accuses her of misconduct and brings a bad name upon her, saying, ‘I took this woman, and when I came near her, I did not find in her evidence of virginity,’ 15 then the father of the young woman and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of her virginity to the elders of the city in the gate. 16 And the father of the young woman shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man to marry, and he hates her; 17 and behold, he has accused her of misconduct, saying, “I did not find in your daughter evidence of virginity.” And yet this is the evidence of my daughter’s virginity.’ And they shall spread the cloak before the elders of the city. 18 Then the elders of that city shall take the man and whip him, 19 and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought a bad name upon a virgin of Israel (OF INTEREST, She iS REFERRED HERE AS A VIRGIN, AS OF SEXUALLY WITHOUT BLEMISH, EVEN THOUGH SHE IS SEXUALLY ACTIVE). And she shall be his wife. He may not divorce her all his days. 20 But if the thing is true, that evidence of virginity was not found in the young woman, 21 then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father’s house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
22 “If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel.
(23 “If there is a betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and lies with her, 24 then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor’s wife. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. )
25 “But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. 26 But you shall do nothing to the young woman; she has committed no offense punishable by death. For this case is like that of a man attacking and murdering his neighbor, 27 because he met her in the open country, and though the betrothed young woman cried for help there was no one to rescue her.

Don’t rape anybody.
Marriage is important.
Marriage is the vehicle that God provides for sexual flourishing on this planet
The greviousness of sexual sins affect the individuals, the spouses, the parents and the whole society
Don’t have sex outside of marriage before you are married
Don’t have sex outside of marriage after you are married
Honor the marriage bed within your own marriage
Honor the marriage bed within other’s marriage beds
Don’t falsely accuse your wife
God is right to be offended at that which transgresses His character
God is right to want a people that is not EVIL
Don’t forget, He is building a people into which comes a Savior
As far as punishments go
JUST like all of us agree with the passage here that the rapist is a criminal and is justly deserving of punishment , can we also agree that
all sins, willfully commited against our fellow men or women
are deserving of penalty, punishment, and justice under the eyes of God
This often appropriately includes death. Why?
If one considers the holiness of God, and humanity’s failures to honor that holiness by our behaviors, I might postulate that ALL sins that fall short of the glory of God couldand should be punishable, and punishable by death
Something I often like to point out is that very few listeners to this podcast are without sexual sins, and if one includes the sins within the mind, I’m pretty sure that none are without sin.
All of this should lead us to a reverence, humility, silence and as we come to this topic. Likely, you have been spared the just punishment that surrounds this topic, NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE INNOCENT. You have been spared because the perfectly innocent, JESUS, has come to bear your punishment.
If you are innocent as we talk about his topic , good. Keep going.
If you are guilty, agree with God. Repent. Receive His invitation
This probably leads then to WORSHIP. You are right. Just. HOLY.
