Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Why does God still offer Himself to knuckleheads? S29e69 dt29:1
You may be new to the concept of entering into a covenantal relationship. However, covenant keeping in the context of relationship IS NOT NEW TO GOD. He's been at it since page one of the Bible. Of note, He has always been faithful.
Can we make covenant with God today? Listen 7 minutes with me as we figure this out. Is God still in the business of relational covenant keeping? Even if it is with knuckleheads?

Why does God still offer Himself to knuckleheads? S29e69 dt29:1
29 These are the words of the covenant that the Lord commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant that he had made with them at Horeb.
2 And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: “You have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, 3 the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders. 4 But to this day the Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear. 5 I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn off your feet. 6 You have not eaten bread, and you have not drunk wine or strong drink, that you may know that I am the Lord your God. …9 Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.
I was with you all the way
All the way I was doing stuff and you were supposed to be noticing it
Oh I hope and pray that I have a heart to under stand; eyes to see and ears to hear.
Luke 24:45after the resurrection45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,
Years and years and years of favor you did not deserve; attention you did not merit.
I have given you shoes that have never worn out x 40 years. “ I have shoes older than you.” Story?
So looking forward: will you keep these words, keep covenant? Keep relationship?
Keep relationship with each other
Keeping in relationship with ME, the Lord.
What kind of Lord? What is He like? One who desires to prosper yes. One who must discipline those He loves.
10 “You are standing today, all of you, before the Lord your God: (the heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel, 11 your little ones, your wives, and the sojourner who is in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water, )12 so that you may enter into the sworn covenant of the Lord your God, which the Lord your God is making with you today, 13 that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God…14 It is not with you alone that I am making this sworn covenant, 15 but with whoever is standing here with us today before the Lord our God, and with whoever is not here with us today.
I am a covenant keeping God. It is one of my great characteristic. It is my HESED. The whole bible is about my faithfulness.
I invite you to covenant with me. Agree with me. Trust in me. Entrust yourself to me. Be my people. Be my people. Be my people.
What have you seen that the Lord has done before your eyes?
Has He blessed you in any way? Signs, wonders, discipline, trials?
Opened up His storehouse for you?
Has their been Circumstantial discipline of the Lord for a purpose?
What if the answer is “I don’t know?” “I haven’t seen it, or if I did, I didn’t notice it—I missed it” then 29:4 day the Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.
Here’s a great prayer: Open my eyes, ears and heart
Be my people.
Who are those who the Lord says nowadays, BE MY PEOPLE?
Well it now goes outside the physical borders of Israel.
Also goes outside of economic borders( not just for poor)
Goes outside racial borders not just for north africans
Goes Outside Political bordersNot just for vassals of an powerful world empire
Religious Not just for those of ancient times that misworshipped
This is for all people. I’m thinking of the Shepherds who first got that message: Luke 2 the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord
ABraham too, even earlier got that message gen 12:3in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
This is for all the families of the earth

This is in the realm of the consistent character of God over all times
YOU may be new to covenant, but God is not new to covenant****
This is just how God has always operated and always will operate
We just have to get used to the idea. Understand the idea.
Revel in it. He keeps covenant…always.
If Somebody has broken covenant with God, it is always the human.
Go no further than Adam, than eve, than cain, etc. etc.
Why is He still offering Himself to knuckleheads****: because of this: because He is still a covenant keeper.
Do you feel His inclination to respond to the invitation? If so, it will be with a 100% reliable, promise remembering, and covenant keeping God. Just like always.
