Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Do you value the thoughts of God? S30e56 Ps139
The value with which you hold the thoughts of God can be gauged by the vigor of the behaviors you have towards them. Your esteem of the thoughts of God are betrayed by your interest in the efforts you display for them.
God calls us toward having a curiosity for His thoughts. How are you doing in pursuing this treasure? Listen 7 minutes.

Do you value the thoughts of God? S30e56 Ps139
Is God too close for comfort? Yes. Why yes He is. You have searched me and you know me. I cannot hide in the darkness, because dark is not dark to you.
We squirm a little at His intimacy of Ps139
Where did all my parts come from? You formed my inward parts.
God was pro-life when the concept of your existence came up.
My form was established and my value was established BEFORE the knittin
My SOUL KNOWS this.
The greatest witness to me, of the existence of God, is the existence of ME
The fact that I am here tells me there is a creator. I didn’t do this.
Though I enjoy the fruit of this amazing machine that is my body, I know that I was not the originator of this machine. This only points to You, Creator.
Response? I praise you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Then today, DO I VALUE the thoughts of God. Another way of saying:
Do I value what God values?
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.
How much do I value them?
Are the thoughts of God tolerated?—well, I suppose they are “good for you”
Or are they valued, esteemed treasured above mine
We should approach His courts daily with humble thoughts.
I could be wrong about this way I am thinking.
How precious to me are YOUR thoughts. Tell me. Show me.
Do you have even a curiosity about the thoughts of God or CONTEMPT
Story about marriage therapist video. Filmed interacting. Everything relationally fix able except CONTEMPT for the other’s thoughts.
Relational contempt is to dis-regard, de-value, and disregard even the thoughts of another.
Let’s run with this a little:
What are the implications of having the thoughts of God not in the treasurecategory, but in the trash category.
What if the thoughts of God are not prized, they are out of favor, off the radar
Then v17 cannot be true: How precious to me are your thoughts..
If so, what would be the implication of the the preciousness and value
How do we know they are of value?
I’d give them opportunity: give God’s thoughts an ear to be heard. Sunday sermon, daily podcast
I’d give them real estate in the battle of time. Check your calendar to assess if you value your exposure to the word.
I’d make the word a habit.: if you have previously constantly valued the Word, you this would be reflected in your habits. There would be well-worn footprints to your “quiet-time” place or as I say, your NON QT. If you are having a QT, you are doing it all wrong.
Let me also say the opposite: If you, perhaps at the call of this idea, WANT to VALUE the Word. You are right , I should cherish the word more. If your goal is to make it your prize, then act like it already IS YOUR PRIZE. Do the behaviors as if it were your prize and it will become your treasure.
Make esteeming the word your habit, and it will become your pearl
You can walk the paths of patterns first and result in the trophy of result:
What is the result that habits can force: how precious to me are YOUR THOUGHTS. I know I love my own already. Perhaps I can give you a toe-hold…and then another, and another.
Assessment: Let’s guage your enthusiasm for the thoughts of God
Let’s appraise the value that you give them.: for what do you trade that is of value to you?
Effort, study, time, habit, part of your calendar, prayer that is founded on it. If you cut my prayer life, it bleeds the Word.
Memorization, learning, CURIOUS.
If you are not curious about the word, My bet is that there is a direct correlation as to how you calculate the WORTH of His word. Curiosity = value held
No INTEREST in the thoughts of God compounds correlates to no significant regardfor the thoughts of God.
Your esteem of the thoughts of God is betrayed by your interest in the thoughts of God.
The value you hold the thoughts of God can be gauged by vigor towards them
So, let’s see if you do really care about what God thinks. Would there be enough evidence to convict you if you were accused of caring about what are the thoughts of God.
Two suggestions: If you don’t value the thoughts of God yet, begin the habits of valuing now and soon you will value them.
Secondly, how might God respond to a simple request: Lord, I wish to treasure Your thoughts…Will you help me?
