Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Will I suffer? Will I get the big prize? Will I be alone? Ps119 s30e64
We have got some big questions to throw at a big Psalm. In fact, one might call these the BIGGEST questions for the biggest Psalm.
Will there be suffering and will I suffer? (yes)
Will I get the big prize? (yes. If no, receive Him today!)
Will I be alone in all of this? (no)

Will I suffer? Will I get the big prize? Will I be alone? Ps119 s30e64
Does a life with God involve suffering?
Did God fall off the throne because there is suffering in the world?
Did God fall off the throne because there is suffering in the church?.
Does a life with God involve the greatest prize possible?
Is it worth it? What do I get out of it.
Is a life with God lonely?
Am I unaccompanied in this journey?
Is the spiritual life to be lived alone?
Will I suffer? Will I get the big prize? Will I be alone? Ps 119.
Big Psalm for Big questions.
I want to remember a couple of thoughts:
v..57 The Lord is my portion. When the people of of the promise came to the promised land they were apportioned parts of the land to occupy. They read the list: this tribe gets this piece of land. That tribe gets that piece of land, etc. When they got to the Israelites, you get the Lord. You don’t get a piece of land, You are allotted the Lord Himself.
V.57 The Lord is my portion
I promise to keep your words.
It was a similar sentiment proclaimed in Gen 15 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great
I am your portion. I am your reward. YOU GET ME. You get my presence. You get to have a relationship with me.
v.63 I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.
It is such an honor to pursue the Lord with the people of God.
You are not the only one that He has redeemed. You are not alone in the sanctificationprocess. The Body of Christ is designed to care for each other, teach, discern, discipline, and worship together.
While I am working to do the big theme of Ps119,(follow your Word) others are working to do the theme of Ps119 (follow your Word)
While I am admiring, they are admiring
While I am being convicted, they are being convicted
While I am being blessed, they are being blessed
While I am learning your statutes when I am AFFLICTED, suffering,
They are learning your statutes when they are AFFLICTED, suffering,
Our passage today mentions this again:
75 I know, O Lord, that your rules are righteous,
and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
The Lord is with me in suffering. The Lord is with them in suffering.
In one sense we are all alone before the works of God
And, then when we look to our right and our left, we see that God is working on the brothers and sisters around us.
73 Your hands have made and fashioned me;
give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.
74 Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice,
because I have hoped in your word.
75 I know, O Lord, that your rules are righteous,
and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. SUFFERING
76 Let your steadfast love comfort me HESED
according to your promise to your servant.
77 Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; Humble ask: Mercy, wisdom underst
for your law is my delight.
78 Let the insolent be put to shame,
because they have wronged me with falsehood;
as for me, I will meditate on your precepts.
79 Let those who fear you turn to me,
that they may know your testimonies.
80 May my heart be blameless in your statutes,
that I may not be put to shame!
