Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Gold is worth $4000/oz. This is worth more. S30e69 Ps119
The guy who wrote Psalm 119 reports that he loves God's communication more than GOLD, pure Gold. At current pricing, that is more than $4000 per ounce. It is precious. By that, I mean the metal and the message; the shiny stuff and the Scripture. Both are treasures, but only one lasts.
God's oration is more valuable than our most rare ore.
God's sovereignty is of greater worth than any sovereigns.
God's declaration is more precious than all the doubloons out there.

Gold is worth $4000/oz. This is worth more. S30e69 Ps119
113 I hate the double-minded,
but I love your law.
114 You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in your word.
115 Depart from me, you evildoers,
that I may keep the commandments of my God.
116 Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live,
and let me not be put to shame in my hope!
117 Hold me up, that I may be safe
and have regard for your statutes continually!
118 You spurn all who go astray from your statutes,
for their cunning is in vain.
119 All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross,
therefore I love your testimonies.
120 My flesh trembles for fear of you,
and I am afraid of your judgments.
In short there is much to be afraid of that I am not going to be afraid of because I trust in You more
I tremble before you more. I have fear. What is this biblical fear?
reverence of your thoughts,
I hold in honor your judgments,
I hold your ways in holy regard.
Amidst what kind of environment? Double minded, evildoers, those who wish to shame me, in an environment that is not safe, where there are those who have gone astray, are cunning and wicked.
We talked earlier in Ps 119 that you will struggle with porn unless you love something greater. 9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
11 I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
Similarly: 120 My flesh trembles for fear of you,
and I am afraid of your judgments.
I will be less concerned with the evildoers, shamers, double minded cunning because I hold the LORD in honor, reverence, fear & holy regard
word
121 I have done what is just and right;
do not leave me to my oppressors.
122 Give your servant a pledge of good;
let not the insolent oppress me.
123 My eyes long for your salvation
and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise.
124 Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love,
and teach me your statutes.
125 I am your servant; give me understanding,
that I may know your testimonies!
126 It is time for the Lord to act,
for your law has been broken.
127 Therefore I love your commandments
above gold, above fine gold. *********
128 Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right;
I hate every false way.
Let me repeat: more oppression, disobedience, your law has been broken
Insolent (brazen, audacious, rude)
Something to be opposed
I hate every false way
Lots to be pused against
Psalmist again votes with his spiritual feet:
I am your servant WHO I am; who I belong to
It is time for YOU Lord to act: who is primarily offended
Give me understanding: Help me to think in the right way
I LOVE YOUR COMMANDMENTS ABOVE GOLD, ABOVE FINE GOLD
I consider all your precepts to be right: How am I going to set my mind?
Where is my hope: My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise
I don’t care if today is your first day in Christ or your last day on the planet: this is what Christians are saying : My eyes long for you and Your ways. I long for your salvation, something ONLY you can do. I humbly ask for mercy in the sense of asking that you’d deal with us , me, according to a character istic of YOU rather than a characteristic of ME. It trust in what You have done. I trust in the way you have done it: HESED. Your steadfast love, Dealing with an occasionally or often rebellious people wna you have been STEADy.
123 My eyes long for your salvation
and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise.
124 Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love,
and teach me your statutes.
127 Therefore I love your commandments
above gold, above fine gold. *********
