Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

When trouble has found me out S30e70 Ps119:143
127 Therefore I love your commandments
above gold, above fine gold.
128 Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right;
I hate every false way.
Yesterday we assessed the value of the word of God.
The psalmist gave us a timeless store of value, gold, to compare to.
Gold is worth $4000/oz. This is worth more.
The words of God are worth more than Gold.
Today: what do I do, when trouble has found me out.
129 Your testimonies are wonderful;
therefore my soul keeps them.
130 The unfolding of your words gives light;
it imparts understanding to the simple.
131 I open my mouth and pant,
because I long for your commandments.
132 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
as is your way with those who love your name.
133 Keep steady my steps according to your promise,
and let no iniquity get dominion over me.
134 Redeem me from man’s oppression,
that I may keep your precepts.
135 Make your face shine upon your servant,
and teach me your statutes.
136 My eyes shed streams of tears,
because people do not keep your law.
Keeping the testimonies of God. They are kept why? Because they are wonderful. Because they are valuable for application to life and practice. Because the execution of their principles is wise and generally results in in broad places, rather than optionless.
Make your face to shine upon your servant. Would you be good and favorable to us in our difficulties. In this life? God?
We ask for preference in Your perspective
We beg for Appproval in our Asks
Lord that we could stand close to You shadow close and Your throne
Make your face shine upon your servants.
Yes we ask for your beauty and splendor and awe
But we need your special assistance, for we are a needful, broken, sometimes rebellious people.
My eyes shed tears because people do not keep your law
Some of those people, one of those is me.
Therefore, keep steady my steps accoringing to YOUR PROMISE aka hesed: loving, faithfulness of God dispite the wobbliness of His people
When God loves us “unconditionally” : by that I mean to say when His creatures, and even His people do not MEEET ALL THE CONDITIONS
137 Righteous are you, O Lord,
and right are your rules.
138 You have appointed your testimonies in righteousness
and in all faithfulness.
139 My zeal consumes me,
because my foes forget your words.
140 Your promise is well tried,
and your servant loves it.
141 I am small and despised,
yet I do not forget your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is righteous forever,
and your law is true.
143 Trouble and anguish have found me out,
but your commandments are my delight.
144 Your testimonies are righteous forever;
give me understanding that I may live.
139 My zeal consumes me,
because my foes forget your words. 140 Your promise is well tried,
and your servant loves it.
Fire up the fervor
Aka jealousy: an APPROPRIATE DESIRE for what one has a right to
You are All worthy and some have forgotten you
Let this not be me. I want you for me, and for everyone
Your promise is well tried. And your servant loves it!
I am affectionate and enthusiastic toward a relationshiop with You
One of the things I appreciate about Ps 119 is the trouble it describes. It is real, real, down and dirty life. 143 Trouble and anguish have found me out,
but your commandments are my delight.
Suffering, trouble, anguish are here. They found me. It is so near it is pressing in on me.
Yet, it does not stop at the difficulty…BUT your commands are my delight
If trouble has found you today, when trouble finds you today, your commands can be my delight.
I am even ZEALOUS for Your ways. Fervent pursuit amidst problems
. 143 Trouble and anguish have found me out,
but your commandments are my delight.
